This antenna has been pretty decent for our country home
November 21, 2016
This antenna has been pretty decent for our country home. We live in a very wooded area, one where no satellite company can install a satellite to work. So I needed to have local TV. We originally installed off our deck due to it being winter, we have since moved it to under our eaves tough when summer arrived and when we have issues, we just use the remote to move it around slightly. Been using it a year now and still working good! Thanks!
Nice Antenna Does a GEAT Job
August 21, 2015
We live out in the sticks in Northern Indiana. With our old antenna we were able to get an impressive 6 channels. When it was raining we could get three. Now with the HD-2605 on a 35 foot pole at the side of the house we get 35 channels. Nice improvement. When a storm is coming from the Chicago area we loose 6 of the channels but most are repeats so no loss. Would recommend this antenna to anyone looking to improve their reception. In fact have recommended it to three people already.
This antenna is a great deal!!

ever taken something out of the box and said to yourself " well I just wasted so hard earned money"? That is what I thought when I assembled the antenna. to my surprise when I mounted it on the j-pole and ran the cable, im getting 42 channels!! the kicker is I live 60 miles from the closest T.V. broadcast station!. I am very pleasantly surprised. goodbye cable bill.$75 a month in my pocket every month. I subscribed to hulu plus to fill in any gaps on my favorite shows for $8 a month. don't hesitate to purchase this product
The 2605 went together easily with the clear directions
January 24, 2015
We live most of the year at 8400' elevation, 100+ miles north of Denver. Satellite TV has been our only option. It is so solidly expected that no one has said anything about trying for digital signals. No one I know has considered it. This Lava, based on a recommendation from a friend who uses one near Phoenix, is my first effort to see what is out there. The 2605 went together easily with the clear directions. Hook up was simple. In no time I was sifting through 40 some TV stations and a gazillion FM radio stations. After filtering out weak signals and uninteresting programming, we have 21 crystal clear channels. I can't compare this to other antennas since it's the only one I've experience with, but I can say without a doubt this antenna is the one for me. Now, if it will stay together in our wind? So far so good.
cut my cable
February 14, 2014
we tried it out for about a month, before I cut cable. this antenna was really easy to put up, (barring the ladder to get on top of the house), picks up very well, we get 39 channels in our area, (North Carolina). all locals in HD. We have it connected to 5 TV's with a splitter, and all get a good picture, and don't have to watch the same channel. all independent TV's. the greatest thing was no more cable bills........YEA........I was tired of them going up, UP, UPPP, and requiring more boxes, and charging more. I love the remote, if the picture gets a little scattered, the remote turns the antenna, and it will come in more clearer, and not skip or have fuzzy effects. (but even cable did that.) let them know your tired of paying more and more, cut yours and go antenna.

Very happy with this product
January 12, 2017
Very happy with this product. Love the long cord. I put the antenna directly on the window and after doing a channel scan was able to get 26 channels, I was very happy because I live in a rural area and didn't expect for it to get that many channels. I got my ladder out and put the antenna up another foot (thanks to the long cord that it comes with) did another channel scan and was able to pick up more channels. So now I get 33 channels total!! I have had satellite TV for years and every year the price goes up and it there is still nothing good on to watch. So I got rid of my $100 a month payment and now I get Free TV with this antenna.
The antenna came in a nicely packaged box
January 8, 2017
We live in North Phoenix and decided to purchase this due to the higher number of positive reviews. We wanted to get rid of cable and a lot of my neighbors said that they were able to get numerous channels using a 40 mile antenna.

The antenna came in a nicely packaged box. The instructions were very clear. At first I did not place it near the window, and still the antenna picked up about 4-5 channels. Later on, I kept it near the window facing the South (because that is where the TV towers were) and did an Autoscan. Presto - about 40+ channels came to light! Of these 40, about 30 were clear and the remaining were not. I noticed that if I moved the antenna around, the other 10 were clear, but a few of the 30 channels were not. My wife and I picked on the channels we were likely to watch, and included a few kids channels as well, so we adjusted the antenna. Once we were comfortable, we fixed the antenna on the window. I had to use the power adapter to boost the signals.

I am happy with this purchase.

Note: Once you get a good number of channels, make a note of the position of the antenna so if you do move it around to experiment and you are not successful, you can go back and place it where it was before.
Received 60+ channels!
August 23, 2016
This antenna was VERY easy to install and hang on the wall. At first, I tried laying it flat on our tv stand and running the channel search (which did give us quite a few channels), but then when I hung it on the wall and ran the search, we received double the amount of channels and have a better signal! We don't want cable or satellite and were content even if we just got a few channels. We live in the Midwest so there are a lot of trees, but we get a great signal even without the antenna being attached to the window. We were able to get about 60 channels with this antenna!
Works like a charm
August 16, 2016
We got this JUST so we could watch MeTV...and it works perfectly! The station tower is 35 miles away and we get everything picture perfect. There are a lot of channels available, but we only use it for MeTV so I cannot speak to the others, but that station quality will depend on your distance from them, I think. For our purposes, this was perfect. It installed in seconds. Literally, just plug it in and select the input on the TV. Ours sits on a shelf 15 feet within the interior of the house, not stuck to a window or exterior wall.
Works great but don't expect to pick up channels 50 miles away.
February 5, 2016
New cord-cutter here. Looking at the signal locater map on the TVfool website, I concluded I needed a 50 mile range antenna. I'm 9 miles from the nearest transmitter, with most being about 20 miles away. I'm exactly 50 miles away from a major city but I was not hoping to pick up those signals. This is because the 50 mile rating is line of site, meaning it's the expected range with no objects in the way. I live in a single story house with a good deal of trees around. I would likely need an attic or outdoor antenna rated around 75 miles if I wanted to pickup signals from towers 50 miles away.

With this antenna I am able to pickup 36 channels. The tower transmitting ABC is the farthest one that I'm able to pickup without pixelation. This one is 35 miles away. Surprisingly, it was not coming in clear with the antenna hung in the window as recommended in the instructions but it comes in perfectly with it on top of a bookcase in a corner. After relocating it, I now get all major networks in HD quality, plus a bunch of other channels of varying appeal.

I am using the amplifier and it does make a difference for me but it's recommended that you try it with and without the amplifier since it's usefulness is going to depend on your specific location. All in all, I ended up spending about 45 minutes to test the antenna in different locations. I will now be returning my cable box with a smile.

Depending on area great reception
August 18, 2016
Bought this antenna and mounted on 24 ft outside mast. I can pull in many stations and am pretty pleased with most pictures. The Cons are you can't see antenna turning while inside, also need to cut power off. They have a newer model which is round and does not require motor or rotating. If this one goes bad I would try the newer model. I get at least 30 stations and they are all free. Great product.

September 23, 2014
After receiving the antenna, I began assembling it. It's not a 5 minute job, but it went good. The user instruction said to use "3/4 inch steel or aluminum pipe to install the antenna". I used galvanized pipe and have it 15 feet off the ground for my working height. I personally think this pole mounting socket for the pipe should have been designed to accept the standard TV mast pipe that you can purchase in 5 foot sections. Neither this standard mast pipe or EMT conduit will work in this pipe socket-I tried because either of these is what I wanted to use. Now, as far as operation of the antenna and rotor units, they worked as described and I'm satisfied about that. I think that the 40 feet of coax cable sent with this antenna is of a lower grade, it works, but I may choose to buy a better quality cable soon. Another customers' review mentioned the same thing. As far as signal receiving ability and the part of receiving signal up to 150 miles,I highly doubt that. The problem for me is my location. I'm in a wooded area and the TV stations are at least 60 miles away and they are small market stations that don't have very strong signal anyway. I get 6 to 9 stations and, depending on the time of day and weather conditions, it may be less. This antenna would be great in a metro area with multiple stations available within a short distance. Overall, I know I won't be able to receive any more than what I do, so I am satisfied with my purchase. Thanks Amazon for a fast shipment and thanks Lava for a good product.
Much Better Than a Few Years Ago
May 25, 2014
They have improved the product since I bought one a few years ago. Better amp, better reception, better RG6 cables and connections, same gooooofy rotor. Very impressed with the improved reception, even on VHF. I have a ranch home, and the antenna is in the attic amongst the forest of roof truss'. I live 50 miles from the stations, and they all come in (in opposite directions too) without problems. Signal is stable, but if you hook more than one tv to the antenna, (I got) much better results by testing each of the 2 connections to determine which had a stronger signal, and then using a splitter on that line. I don't know why, but the signal is much worse if you use both of the unit's connectors simultaneously, instead of splitting just one, and leaving the other disconnected. The old unit I bought a few years ago was the same way. The rotor is ok, but you have no idea what direction the antenna is turning, or where it is pointing unless one person watches and phones the operator (ha, that's what we did). BUT, once I got it correctly pointed for the best signal on all channels, I haven't had to mess with it a single time in a month so far. The only time I had any signal disruption was during a storm with high winds blowing the trees around outside. I wouldn't recommend putting this antenna outside in the elements, but the maker seems to think it is okay outside. I am using this antenna with both a VIZIO TV and an iView 3500ii DTV box (very good, and cheap DVR for OTA signals, and no need for cable or any subscriptions ! Cut the cable !). Both are receiving good clear tv picture on all channels.
FITS MY PURPOSES FINE.
April 22, 2014
i live in a rural area that does not have cable, and i don't feel like getting tied down to any contracts. i put my antenna on top of a piece of 3/4" pipe around fifteen feet in the air, and started receiving crystal clear signals. i get all the networks (ABC, CBS,NBC, FOX, CW, PBS,as well as side stations (example: 6.1 is CBS. 6.2 is THISTV, showing old movies) how many stations i receive is dependent on atmospheric conditions, but i do receive fourteen at all times. if things are right, i have received up to 24 channels. the price of this antenna is approximately what i was paying for the expanded package from the cable company when i lived in town for one month. i have had this antenna for almost three months now with no additional outlay. also, the amplifier/remote box has two outputs on the back, so i can run two TV's without a splitter. that solves the living room and bedroom. since i only HAVE two TV's this is adequate. the major complaint i have (which has been echoed by many other reviewers) is that there is no way of telling which way the antenna is pointing without actually going outside and looking at it. what i have done is to zero in on one channel that gives me the most other channels and use that as my base. that way, when i go searching, i can always come back to "home base". the antenna is rather lightweight, but it has survived three very severe storms (for south georgia anyway) and still works perfectly. i have had a couple of my friends who were so impressed, that they asked me to order one for them because they did not have an Amazon account. i am very satisfied.
Lava HD-2605 Review
April 16, 2012
I've rated this OTA Antenna at 4 stars and this is why. After installing 12 of these antennas in our local area (St. Augustine, Fl) I found they do receive stations very well from Jacksonville, FL where the TV Station Towers are from 30 to 45 miles distance. I personnaly have been using this antenna for about a year and I'm pleased with the results. In fact I consistently receive the ION channel coming from Brunswick, GA - about 90 miles distance.Listed here are the major problems I've found and the solutions:1: Not all TV tuners are made the same. Some have better sensitivity then others. So far I've found the Sanyo to be the worst for OTA (Over The Air) reception. The best TVs for OTA were the LG and the Viseo. The LG and Viseo tuners seem to have greater sensitivity then other models. Also, Sony and Hitachi perform very well. It's interesting to note that the LG tuners are made by Zenith in the US and shipped to Mexico where they assemble the TVs.2: On three of the installations I've completed reception seemed to be sub par and at first I was unable to determine why. Recently I found that the RG6 cable supplied with the Lava Antenna is poorly made. The ground connection can cause loss of signal strength. When I replaced the cable with quality RG6 a dramatic change took place. On most TVS there is a Signal strength meter to determine signal quality. This can usaually be found, on most TVS, in the Setup Menu. With the better cable the signal strength increased from 50-60 to 90-100 or max. Wow, what a difference.3: Mounting and positioning the Antenna is also very important. Make sure there are no obstructions between the antenna and the TV Tower i.e. Trees, buildings. FCC regs allow you to mount the antenna, at a maximum, 12 feet above your roof (I'm currently using a 40" pole roof mount).Go to Rabbitears.info for compass heading from your location and use a compass to point your antenna towards the TV towers you wish to receive.4. In locations where you are receiving signals but they are week I suggest you add a Pre-Amp (Blonder Tongue), available from Amazon for about $12.00. Be sure to connect the pre-Amp last in line and directly to the TV set.In conclusion it appears the Lava HD-2605 UHF/VHF HDTV Antenna with Remote Controlantenna performs very well when used with quality RG6 cable. You can't get better performance for this price. Also, once installed you can say goodbye to Cable/Satellite bills forever.

Pretty close to perfect
May 23, 2017
This antenna works very well. Got lots of channels and all came in clear once I found the perfect spot for it. The only reason I gave it a 4-star instead of a 5-star is the way it attaches to the wall. You think you have the perfect spot and when you walk away you realize you have to move it. The sticky tape may take off a bit of wall paint and weakens each time you move it. Be sure you have extra sticky tape because you may have to replace it. I wish it had a stand of some sort. Mine fell a few times when the sticky tape got weak. It's currently lying in a box near the TV until I get more tape. With a stand, it would look better and be easier to manipulate. But definitely worth the money.
It Works
July 27, 2016
I had my doubts about this antenna. I had bought a 40.00 antenna and was only able to pick up 12 channels. I live just 30 miles west of DC so I thought the 50 miles Amplified antenna would be best and at first I was only able to get about 19 channels but the more I moved it around to different locations and then rescan for channels, the more channels I was able to pick up. Keep in mind every time you move the antenna, you have to rescan for channels. I am able to pick up 37 channels. The more I moved it around the more channels I was able to get. So for me it works.
The antenna has been great and allows me to get all of the other ...
May 21, 2016
I purchased this antenna so my kids can watch PBS kids and I can watch the Olympics this summer and it more than serves the purpose! The antenna has been great and allows me to get all of the other local channels as well. I have mounted the antenna on the wall and I periodically have to adjust it slightly but for the most part, I can just leave it. Since it is just a flat rectangle, it is not obtrusive or ugly in the room. The best part is that there are no rabbit ears to worry about adjusting and breaking!
I now have THREE of these.
February 11, 2016
After receiving one of these as a gift for my new smart TV this Christmas, and being so excited that I could now get my local news channels plus about 15 other channels I wasn't expecting, I decided to purchase two more for the other two televisions in my house. The picture quality is amazing with these digital signals. It isn't cable though - you are going to get some "meh" reception with certain weather conditions, and sometimes I have to re-scan to update my channels. I don't mind at all - I have not missed cable TV in almost two years.
Not bad at all for as simple as it is.
January 4, 2016
Wanted to try something simply to see how off air stations were in our semi rural area as Roku and other streaming media doesn't give local news. The antenna is a very simple semi conductor sheet which came with some stickers to mount it, no suction cup. I'm a avid radio operator and could of whipped up something super duper but for the cost of this one I figured why not. So far it works well, we get 12 off air digital channels that come in as they should... the whole mile rating ratio simply means that in best possible conditions it may pick signal at a given range... but I won't go into that. The antenna is very flat which makes it fairly directional, so if you get on like this if may work best if you point the front and back towards areas you know will have more transmitters. In our case Detroit and Toledo. I hide mine behind a painting and it still works well. Also the amplifier included was no benefit.

It is good for now
August 13, 2016
Pros: I haven't had this hooked up long, but so far it I seems to be working well. I live about 60 miles south of Dallas and 30 miles north of Waco. Currently I am picking up channels from both markets. I'm getting more channels and they are clearer than my old antenna.

Cons: 1. The pictures and questions indicated there would be a flat cable and 30' of coax cable in the box. Only a short 3' cable was included. 2. The remote is pointless. You have to me directly in front of it (within 2 or 3 feet) for it to work. The box is in my attic, where the cables come into the house, and I will have to go up there to move it. Pointless! 3. The whole construction feels cheap. I'm worried that with some strong winds or rain, it will be damaged.

Time will tell how well this works. It is good for now.

April 7, 2016
if it didn't get me more stations than my little rabbit ears, you would have gotten this back, what a pain in the butt.,No way it goes outside, the wings you have to install right side up because the holes are too big. I have it in my kitchen in a flowerpot and I turn it manually if a station isn't coming in .

But I went from 5 stations to about 15. Depends on if its a clear day. So you decide.
Remote Problems
February 28, 2016
Received this item in Dec 2015 and assembly was easy, but when testing remote antenna would not rotate. Emailed Vendor & they were prompt in sending back some fixes to try, but not everyone is going to want to do this. After trying the fix they suggested the remote worked. Installed the antenna in the garage rafters & I received 11 channels, which I was OK with, because we are about 50 miles from the stations, & lots of trees in between. The remote worked fine for a little over a month & then it quit rotating, so I set up the ladder & rotated the antenna manually and tested the remote again and it worked fine again for a couple of days and then would not rotate, so I took it down and tried cleaning the contacts, put it back up, worked again for about a half of a day. Now it is random, one time it works and 5 minutes later it won't. I haven't contacted the
vendor yet to see what can be done.

November 5, 2015
Arrived within estimated shipping dates.
Assembly required, but not too difficult.
The finished product is not heavy duty, and I would not have expected an extended life.
I mounted this in place of my 75-mile range ChannelMaster, and my reception was not improved. We are almost exactly 745 miles from the nearest broadcast tower, so I was not terribly surprised, though a friend lives a mere 5 miles closer, but at a lower altitude (In a pocket almost), and his seems to work quite well.
I will be purchasing another, more applicable, unit with amplifier.
Still going strong 2 years later
March 23, 2013
I purchased this antenna two years ago (2011) and the product is still going strong. It doesn't have the best range....I can pick up stations within 25 miles but the main stations I wanted to pick up are located about 60 miles away and its hit or miss. Depends on the atmospheric conditions. Sometimes I get them but mostly I don't. With digital HD you either get the signal or not...there's not static like with old tv's. If the signal degrades you lose the channel completely. On good nights I can sometimes pick up stations 200 miles away! But day to day you can't really expect more than 25 mile range. (My antenna is not mounted very high....maybe 20 feet. I'd probably get better range if I mounted it higher.) But it has withstood the elements with no problem for two years.

It works!!!! somewhat..... :-/
June 3, 2016
So..... I bought this because I broke the rabbit ear antenna I had on my HD TV. Surprisingly the rabbit ears picked up a lot of HD stations, not all but a lot. I figured "Hey this is an HD antenna, this should work", and even opted for the 50 mile range one. Well, in essence it works. But.... not as good as I expected with it being amplified. Putting it on my window with a clear view of the sky didn't help either. Local HD stations worked better with the Rabbit ears. It gets my local stations but they come out distorted at times. I did get a lot more HD stations when I did the channel scan on my TV. But the extra stations are pretty much mute if the real station you want to watch doesn't work most of the time. I haven't tried to mount the antenna indoors and on the wall. Honestly, I've just ignored regular TV for Netflix, its not like there is anything good on TV these days.
Good value but I am willing to try something else...
June 2, 2016
I purchased this for my house as my husband and I didn't want to pay for cable! We live about 30 miles from the nearest broadcast tower, so I figured I would up to the 50 mile antenna just to be safe. Setup was quick and easy. It was able to find about 14-17 different channels where we live. I am a little upset that it won't find NBC or PBS, which come in just fine at my parent's camper that is 30 more miles from our house (maybe they have a higher strength antenna?) It just kind of peeves me... We've also experienced some trouble when the weather is windy or stormy out; the picture just doesn't come in that well. For the price, I think it's a good antenna, but I think I might try something else for our other TV or get something a little of higher power.
but 50 mile range seems like a stretch
February 8, 2016
No doubt this thing is cheaply made and it does somewhat work, but 50 mile range seems like a stretch. I live in a major metro area and am within 12 miles of most of the TV broadcast towers. This brought in about 2/3 of the stations but would still have frequent drop outs. The amplifier didn't seem to help as we couldn't see a different between it plugged in or not. Ended up getting an RCA yagi antenna with no amplifier and am getting perfect reception now. If you have an attic or place to put an antenna on the roof, get a bigger yagi antenna instead.
MUST be by window or outside to get full signal, doesn't benefit in attic.
November 16, 2015
Product does work, it DOES NOT work 50-60 miles like the box says... the tower is 13 miles from me in florida, and I get about half the channels that that broadcasts. the amplifier does work well, and for the money I do get 20 channels, 90% clean signal, but some chop and blackout randomly.. Best bet is to get an outside unit for a little more money..

The cable that comes with it is a joke, its TINY! theres no such thing as a high performance COAX cable, its a tiny maybe 22-24 gauge wire with no shielding so it will pickup any interference...

I tried it installed in the attic by a shutter and it didn't get any better signal than inside behind the TV. In the window it works great but nobody in their right mind is going to have it stuck in their window unless you have your blinds cover it and neighbors don't care...

all in all for 22 bucks it works, not well but works.. just having the amplifier hooked up picks up 20 channels without the antenna!!!
cheap, but barely worth it for amplified version
November 5, 2015
This antenna worked only slightly better than non-amplified antenna I already owned. To get the same signal strength as my old antenna, I had to mount this one high up on the wall in my apartment, nearest to the outside of the apartment. I tried on the window next to the wall as well. Same signal strength whether mounted to wall or window. Looked horrible in window so i'm leaving it mounted on wall next to wall. Going to try the Homeworx antenna next, as i've seen some reviews saying it works as well as this amplified one. I doubt it will, but it's only about 7 bucks with prime shipping so it's throw away at that price. That's another thing that irked me about this order. I paid for 2 day prime shipping, ordered it last Saturday and it didn't arrive till Wednesday. Why am I paying for prime, and this is marked as Prime 2 day shipping, if it's going to take that long to get here. I'm just trying to test antenna's during my time off. Feels like a waste of my time.

At first we loved it. Remote control
August 28, 2017
We have been using this item for almost a year now. At first we loved it. Remote control, easy to set up, very convenient. But lately the controller won't ajust the antenna. So now hubby must drang out the ladder to turn the antenna manually. Not cool. Guess we'll have to step up to something better.
If it was built better you would have to pay more
February 21, 2017
I can't believe anybody would put this antenna out side in Oklahoma. The remote is a joke. But i knew i was going to put it in my attic.I knew which direction i was going to face it. All of the towers were in a 10 mile radius 28 to 32 miles away. I really don't know if i pick up any new channels. When i auto scanned it showed 50 channels, 5 had no picture. So i have 45 channels so far with out any interference. I have had it up about 2 weeks. Had a couple days with heavy fog, 2 Days with rain and winds 25 to 40 mph.If it was built better you would have to pay more.I would say for the price it is OK if you put it in the attic.
Poor information indicates a rip-off.
July 3, 2015
Information and instructions for this product are very poor. I have not yet installed the product, but there is no indication of if or how it detects a station. It apparently rotates 360 degrees but my impression now is that you just have to watch the picture and stop it when it looks good. I suppose there is some functionality that may reveal itself when installed, but right now I feel it s a rip off even at the low price. If it works better, I will repost.
I dont notice any better reception though
April 28, 2015
This was supposed to have a much larger range than my previous 50 mi antenna. I dont notice any better reception though. The cable that came with it was absolute crap. I couldnt get any signal until i swapped it out with my own cable.
Getting power to the receiver box was a bit of a pain since the rest of it is located outside. I managed to hook it up into my basement and run some new power cables.
It doesn't work as a good boat anchor
August 25, 2014
Never got it to work. It doesn't work as a good boat anchor! I'm about 50 miles to towers. I live in country, no tall buildings, just trees and hills.
The motor drives it around in both directions. I changed the coax with satellite grade that I run 100 feet between dish & TV.

My RV has VIZIO VAA220E with good tuner, I use a Phillips amplified antenna that works good. I wanted another to pull in more stations. The Lava didn't do it. Never pulled in anything.

I really thought it would from reading all the reviews.

If you live 50 miles from your TV station, you'd be better off trying to pick up signal with your tooth fillings. It actually worked better with the amplifier left out of the signal path. I'm only about 15 miles from major stations and it picked up almost nothing.
Limited use antenna
January 16, 2017
The antenna did not perform as described in the advertisement. The antenna worked only when placed high in a window that was facing the direction of the TV broadcast antenna. Would not work in the interior of the house even though the broadcast signal originated less than 20 miles away. Must have an unobstructed line of site view of the signal antenna. I would recommend this antenna only if it can be placed in a window facing the direction of the tv broadcast signal....otherwise it will be a waste of time and money.
Go with another brand
December 10, 2016
Purchased the 50-mile version from a Black Friday deal. Easy to install, but I have to say I was not impressed. We thought this would be an upgrade from a 20-mile Amazon brand we used, but immediately saw that we LOST channels. I figured I would give it a few weeks, play with the amplifier, move it around to different locations in the house... but it still gets shaky reception on most of the main local channels and even worse reception (sometimes no reception at all) on the others. Switched back to my Amazon brand and channels showed up without a problem.
Needs to be used in a high spot in your home
April 1, 2016
I did not get good reception on the lower floors of my home where I needed it. It was installed in multiple windows but I did not get the channels I expected. When installed higher in my home there were several more channels available but I really needed it to work on the first floor. Not good for my situation but if you plan to use it on a higher level of your place it will probably work fine.

The components are extremely flimsy. They don't appear to have enough substance to withstand even a moderate breeze.I tried to assemble the antenna. The holes in the bar were too large for the bolts that attach the elements. So I went about putting everything back in the box to return to Amazon. After two hours of trying, I could not get everything to fit. The container housing the parts is maybe only a little thicker than card stock. With only minimal pressure, I tore the container. So now I can't even send it back. This has been an absolutely disappointing and frustrating experience.

I live 25mi outside of Chicago and antennaweb.org says I should get a max of 64 digital channels. I ordered a Lava Electronics HD-2605 UHF/VHF HDTV Antenna with Remote Control and mounted it in my attic. I was only able to get about 3 channels when pointed at the optimal angle with and without the LNA. This seemed just terrible to me even though it was in the attic and not not the roof so i pulled out the old bunny ears and got pretty much the same channels. I immediately returned the HD-2605 and ordered a Televes DAT790 LR Mix UHF/VHF Long Range Antenna (149881) which has half the claimed range of the HD-2605 but more believable specs. I assembled it and hooked it up to the exact same cable and setup in the attic and immediately got 59 channels (without the amplifier). I'll probably add the amp later when I hook up additional TVs but this is a MUCH better antenna. And the build quality was night and day as well. The Lava HD-2605 was cheap fragile plastic and many of the elements did not even touch via metal only plastic; they seem to be for show. The Televes DAT790 (149881) build is mostly metal and will hold up to the elements much better. It is much larger but not as big as the old antennas you see on roofs. All in all these cost the same and I felt ripped off by the HD-2605 even before i realized it only gave me ~3 channels. The DAT790 is better in every way and you can't argue with 20x more channels. Maybe the HD2605 would have been better but was DOA, but if that is the case they need better quantity control, i wasted a lot of time with it before switching to the DAT790.
White Mountains New Hampshire > dud
July 18, 2016
I have a house in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
I researched, felt this was the best antenna (range) on the market.
I was thrilled to buy this > HD channels? WooHoo!
Then I hooked it up... Got a whopping 3 channels :(
I fixed this by putting it back in the box and renewing my car magazine subscriptions.
If you live in a metro area you might have better luck.
Cheap Chinese junk. Doesn't work well.
November 4, 2015
I bought this antenna to replace another I thought had failed. It turned out that the trouble wasn't my old antenna, but instead was a problem with the tuning circuit in my TV. When I plugged this one into a known-good television, I discovered that we couldn't receive nearly as many stations as with the old, even though this cost more.

This item is flimsy and very cheaply made. The head is fragile, and I don't think it would hold up for long outdoors, even though it is designed to be used on a pole mount. Given that it couldn't pull down all the channels that my old antenna did, I returned it.

After buying this item, I've found quite a bit of commentary online that says many cheap Chinese-made outdoor antennas don't work very well. While I can't confirm that this is true for ALL Chinese antennas, this one certainly doesn't work well at all.

Could only get the three stations within 35 miles. Not even close to 150 miles. two big cities at 85 miles would come in and out at the drop of hat. Might have a channel for 1 to 5 min then lose it. The rotor is very unresponsive and hard to manipulate and I was mounted on the roof just 20 feet from the tv next to a window so I could watch it. First thing I ever got from Amazon I have ever been upset with. I gave it to a friend in a large city so maybe it will work for him. Its vary cheap made and would not have lasted long through storms. You could almost bend it blowing on it. Not much thicker than tin foil. The two dish like panels that pop out look like metal. They are not. They are plastic with a piece of chrome tape stuck on them for reflection. Sun will rot it in a few months. Got to totally re think now. Spent money for coax too as it shows 60 ft of coax with it but it is not. The fine print does not state it either. Its false advertising all the way around. Really to bad.

Cost of being cheap
August 25, 2017
Not worth it. Believe me... I went through 2 antennas, spend close to $40, had tons of glitches, played he fool trying to get a better reception and nothing. But that is the cost of being cheap, maybe not the product's fault. I settled for a 70 mile range omnidirectional that cost almost the same. Now I get 50+ channels with no glitch. Learned my lesson.
Arrived with postage due. Come on!
January 21, 2017
Ordered this to try to increase the number of channels we get with our regular antenna. We got no more channels after installing. But that only took one star away out of 5. This package arrived with postage due. The retailer was not diligent in putting enough postage so that I, the customer, had to pay money to get our product. That is really what gave it a one start.
Didn't work for me.
July 15, 2016
For an antenna that supposed to be 50 mile range was horrible. I could barely get any channels. The ones that I did get were choppy and hard to watch. The antenna is also huge! I returned mine within two weeks and purchased a new one from a different company. Ironically the new one works 100% better, cost only $6.00, and is only 25 mile range.

Great idea but unless you are very close to the broadcast tower and have a line of sight....forget it. I had an old telescopic antenna that came with an old 1990's tv and thought this would be better...NOT! Actually worse! And I did go on antenna web and check the distance recommendation and this unit should have been able to pick up the signal with ease. It's going back.
Crap - save your money!

Complete piece of junk, waste of time ... I had a $5 one that worked better than this ... plugged it in to 2 different tvs in 2 separate places in the house, tried the antenna in a variety of locations, got ZERO channels. Don't waste your time and money folks, you'll be sorely disappointed.
