Five Star Reviews: | 65% Perfect for my humble needs! November 27, 2015 This is perfect for my needs, which were something lightweight, easy to carry around and compact. I needed a music stand to bring to a Christmas party along with my instrument, and this fits the bill. I am able to unfold it and set it up in about 2 minutes and it's sturdy enough for some music. It comes in a handy little soft carry case. I don't think I'd be able to put a heavy book on it, but sheets of music are fine. We were looking for a nice, light weight March 30, 2015 We were looking for a nice, light weight, and easy to set-up stand for the house. This is perfect! It folds up easily and stores in a bag, making it easy to carry along. It is also quite sturdy for holding the music books and sheets. I like the little extender on it too. My daughter loves the green color! We also have this same stand in red too. Bright colors! My kids are 9 and 11 and both love their stands. Perfect stand for us! Great Entry-Level Music Stand December 14, 2013 Our 10-yr old joined 4th Grade Orchestra, so she needed the various item for home practice. Not knowing if she'd stick with it, we looked for entry-level equipment with decent ratings. (The fact that this came in PINK was a big hit.) Adjustment knobs hold well and have survived being dragged daily to & from the closet for several months now. Definitely has earned a 'bang for the buck' recommendation! Exactly what we needed July 7, 2013 I got this for my 7 year old daughter who is taking guitar lessons. She is small and sits in a tiny Step 2 chair that allows her feet to rest flat on the floor. This stand fully adjusts to that low height! It is also simple enough that she can set it up and take it down as well as put it back into the carry bag it came with all by herself. And what a bonus that she got to pick the color from several choices! She chose the green ;) We couldn't be happier Easy to assemble and sturdy November 2, 2012 This is an excellent stand that folds small, comes with a durable looking bag, and assembles/disassembles very easily. It is a little heavier than other foldable stands on Amazon, but it seems more sturdy because of this. There is also no cause for concern of paint coming off since it is a natural chrome color. Update: This is simply the best stand and the ease at which it folds and unfolds is remarkable. I don't understand why I went through the hassle of using other inferiorly designed (even pricier) stands. | 73% Way Better than the Boss DB January 29, 2017 I had a Boss DB-30 C. I dropped it and it broke, and I was disgusted that I'd need to spend about $40 on a new metronome - but I didn't, because I bought this one instead for about half the price and it's so much better. The signal output is much higher, and the construction is considerably more solid. Even before I dropped the Boss, it was a piece of trash that kept conking out - I had to jam a piece of paper between the "watch battery" and the back cover in order for it to make proper contact and continue functioning The Korg uses standard AAA batteries and never has a problem. It's got a more intuitive interface, too - and it's also a tuner. I don't use the tuner, but it's in there. Bottom line - half the price of the Boss yet twice as good. Works Great January 23, 2017 Wanted a small device to practice with that would fit on music stand. Got tired of using an app on my phone and tablet. Have only used the metronome part. Used the tuner part just to see how it worked. Don't really care for the beep it makes but becomes a mute point when working through music. Do like that you can change the beats to just a straight count in any tempo. Price was right, shipping was quick, packaging was perfect. I do rhythm rock guitar so..... June 8, 2016 Those cheap trapezoid looking metronomes make me sick. I'm no pianist/legit musician, I'm into classic rock/heavy metal. So looking at those dang things looks like some kind of unsolvable riddle with no hints. I want to set the Bpm with no adagio moderato Beethoven piano language. So they made it simplified, made an audible beep, added a headphone jack, and on top of all that a pretty good tuner. It's so simple a caveman can use it. A lot smaller than I expected July 4, 2015 When I got the tracking info for the delivery I saw that the US Postal Service left it in my mailbox. My reaction: "Huh?" But then I saw the tuner/metronome and was amazed at how small it is. It will definitely fit into any case or gig bag that I have, even my stupid cheap trombone case that doesn't have a very large accessory pocket! I mostly bought this to use with a tuba, which of course has an enormous case, but that it will fit nicely in with my T-bone is nice too.As far as operation, it tunes very nicely. I could see quite well when my notes were sharp and flat, so I can work on my tone. It even detected notes all the way down to pedal E-flat, which if you play the tuba you know that note's weird on a BB-flat horn because the fundamental is actually completely missing in that register. The metronome, as others have pointed out, is a little quiet, but that's not a big issue to me. I play with a practice mute at home, and the clicks can easily be heard over the sound of the muted horn, even when playing fortissimo. There is a guide for BPM to tempo molded into the plastic on the back of the unit, not a sticker that could wear off. All in all, a very good piece of equipment, and I'm glad I got it. Best tuner I have used. March 12, 2013 I had seen these reviewed before, and happed to catch this one on sale. Hands down, this is the best tuner I have used. It is very accurate and resposive, and the ability to output tuning tones is great too. The metronome feature is a huge plus, and makes this tuner well worth the extra cost. I also like the ability to use the tuner and the metronome at the same time. The line-in works great when it is too noisy to tune accoustically - it works well with my electric instruments as well as with a clip-on tuning pickup. And the headphone jack makes it easier to listen to the metronome beat over the sound of my instrument. The backlight really makes a huge difference in dim rooms too, although I haven't used it long enough to say how it impacts battery life yet. Really, I can't think of anything I would change about this device! One of the better electronic tuner/metronomes December 14, 2012 There are quite a few pocket sized electronic tuner/metronomes out there for musical instruments, and many of them are not very distinguished in terms of utility, functionality and quality. This Korg model is the best one I have seen, and at an affordable price. Korg is or course a leader in this field, and Yamaha's "Dr. Beat" metronomes are more powerful and flexible, but this little unit does pretty much anything a busy musician needs. The tuner is intended for instruments that make a reasonably sustained sound, so it is not a guitar tuner. I have not tried it for pianos, harpsichords and the like. I think it is best used with wind instruments or others that can produce tones os a few seconds duration not counting the decay. The tuner has a sweep needle that is part of the large backlit LCD display. You can turn the backlighting off to save battery power. There are also three bright LED lamps for Flat, In Tune, and Sharp, allowing you to tune when too far away to read the LCD sweep needle. The tuner allows tuning to different pitch standards over the range 410-480Hz, with A-440Hz being the default, and the display shows this number in large digits, and also shows the note name, e.g. Ab, etc.The tuner can listen to your instrument, either through its built-in microphone or by plugging the cable from an electronic instrument into the 1/4" phone jack on the side of the unit. The tuner can also produce any pitch, either over the built-in speaker or silently throught the 1/8" headphone jack.A nice feature is the "Sound Back" which plays back the in-tune pitch that is closest to the pitch you play with your out-of-tune instrument. For example, play your instrument, the unit determines that you are playing a somewhat flat F, and it then plays an in-tune F through the speaker, and you can adjust to match it. The tuner can accurately respond to notes over an 8 octave range. As far as I have been able to determine, this tuner does NOT allow tuning to historical or alternate temperaments, so it is always 'equal temperament', which suits most modern music played on wind instruments. I doubt if a piano tuner would find this unit very useful. The tuner and the metronome are autonomous, like having a separate tune and metronome in the same case. Each can be turned on and off separately, and you can in theory use both at the same time if you can figure out a way for that to be useful. The metronome allows you to select tempi in one beat-per-minute increments over a 30-252 BPM range. You can separately select any of several (actually 15) beat subdivisions, or beat emphasis points, so that when you select '3' for example, the metronome will play one beat with one tone, then the next two beats with a different tone, so you can keep track of the first beat of each measure. You can also select things such as triplet subdivisions within a beat, but this unit is not as flexible in this regard as a fancier metronome such as the Dr. Beat. However, like Dr. Beat, this metronome DOES have the Tap Tempo button; you tap the desired tempo on a large button and the unit automatically figures out the tempo number. You can use this simply to display the tempo you tapped, or you can use it to control the action of the metronome. The metronome can be stopped and started without losing the settings. The unit used two AAA cells for its battery.Weight is about 3.5 Oz, or the same as a typical CD in its jewel case. The dimensions are 111 x 74 x 18 mm / 4.37 x 2.91 x 0.71 inches. The unit comes in either black or white case colors. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 20% Great buy October 21, 2015 Family already using it. The kids like it and say that it's good! Unfolded the stainless steel stand is able to hold several pages -- even their folder. The stand is not designed for holding more than a few pages, because the holders are not broad enough. Still, my eldest son said that that's okay. These are good. Reasonably sturdy March 6, 2015 These are good. Reasonably sturdy. You can only open and close one side of the music book holder at a time. So, don't think you broke it. Just do one at a time. Bought for my kids. Never used the carry bags, just end up folding the top in and they store well in any corner. Did check out the folding mechanisms when first purchased and works smooth. Came assembled. Would buy again. easy to setup and take down January 15, 2015 Bought this for my daughter so she did not have to have her brother hold her music book whenever she needed to practice. It is well made, easy to setup and take down, and is very compact when folded. There are two metal arms to hold the pages in place, which is nice. My only complaint is minor, and this is that it does not feel completely stable to me. That's not to say that it is unstable but it did feel like it could be knocked over easily. However, for the price I am still happy and do not regret the purchase. Ok for the price October 25, 2014 This music stand isn't bad for the price. I bought this in purple and love the color. I'm 5'3" and it's just barely tall enough for me to use standing up when I make it as tall as possible. That includes putting the legs a bit narrower than is ideal, which makes the stand tip over if I put too many books on it. It's cheap, it's portable, and it comes in nice colors. It's not a high end music stand, but it works. | 16% Great digital metronome August 19, 2017 This product worked just as described. The "beep" isn't so much a computerized beep but more like a computerized click, which I like much better than a beep. The only bad thing about the product is the fact that sometimes the power buttons don't want to turn on or off very well, like the button doesn't hit the right spot sometimes or something. But it's a minor issue compared to all the good things this metronome/tuner offers. Great tuner! May 20, 2017 I bought this as a replacement for my old one. The screen cracked on my old one. :( I love this device though, so I bought a new one. Aslo ordered a case for it so it could stay safe. I play all sorts of brass and wind instruments and it works great on all of them. This is a very good Tuner. The problem is the owner's manual May 11, 2017 This is a very good Tuner. The problem is the owner's manual. It is written by someone with no clue how to tell others to use the instrument. They assume the users are all experts in instrument tuning. After many trial and guessing, I figured how to use it and get my drums tuned properly. The instrument helped once I learned from the internet how to use it. This tool provides the two functions as advertised and the ... March 21, 2017 This tool provides the two functions as advertised and the selection controls are simple to learn and to use. I appreciate the convenience of having the tuner function as well as the metronome function in one tool. Now that I have been using it, I wish that it had the more wooden strike tone but that doesn't diminish it's usefulness. It is nice to have a tuner and metronome in one compact ... August 26, 2014 I bought this primarily to use when practicing my acoustic guitar. It is nice to have a tuner and metronome in one compact unit BUT the volume is too low. Depending on what I am playing sometimes the beeps/clicks get lost in the mix, especially when I am strumming chords. Playing scales or finger picking I can hear it just fine.I own several other metronomes including the Korg MA-30 (a little bit louder, slightly more pleasant sound/tone to the "clicks") and the Korg KDM-2 (plenty loud and the clave sound is great). I was looking for an all-in one unit to keep in my guitar case, but the TM-50 has the lowest volume of the three. If it were "just" a metronome I would probably only give it 3 stars due to the low volume but it is very handy to have the metronome and tuner in one unit and technically all the features work ok.FWIW the sound through headphones is very loud, but I didn't buy this to use it with headphones. The soundback feature is neat but you have to use headphones to use the feature and it is kind of useless for guitar since the frets mean you don't have to worry about getting your intonation just right like you would on a fretless instrument like say cello or violin, etc. small and fairly useful June 14, 2013 I have been using this for a few weeks, and as a violinist, I need both tuner and metronome. The controls on the metronome are a little confusing at first, as there are not many instructions that come with the device. I figured that out after some use. The flashing light is a nice addition as sometimes I get so into the music, that I can't hear the beat. The tuner could use half Hz points, meaning, say 432.5. But that isn't a big deal. the "listen" feature where you can tune and it listens to see if you are in tune works well. This is the second Korg that I have had, and this works better than the 8 year old, more expensive tuner/metronome. I would recommend this as it fits nicely in a case too. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% Sufficient for our purposes, but one of the adjusters ... October 17, 2016 Sufficient for our purposes, but one of the adjusters stripped after the first use. So, it isn't "portable" for us in its current state. It's a simple enough fix but shouldn't be necessary with a new purchase. Good stand December 10, 2015 A bit flimsy, but good for the price. Does the job for my daughter when practicing. I don't expect a collapsible stand to be super sturdy. Red color is cool! This stand works, but it's very wobbly April 2, 2015 This stand works, but it's very wobbly. Don't use heavy books on it, and it moves if you bump it. It does fold up very compactly so it's good for a traveling stand. But I'm going to replace it for a sturdy stand I can use all the time at home. Not Stable February 17, 2015 We bought this stand along with another one for comparison, and found this one less stable. It tipped over more easily than the other one, especially with a binder (as opposed to just sheet music) on it. Returning it would have cost return postage plus a 10% stocking fee--more than I paid for the item--so we'll just donate it to my daughter's school instead. Okay, seems a bit flimsy. February 5, 2015 I like that I was able to buy a red music stand...however I'm a bit unsure of its quality as it just feels flimsy. And if I have a book on the stand, if the angle of the music holder part is tilted back it falls over...so I have to keep the thing upright. Overall I'm satisfied so far...just a little wary of its long-term durability. I do like, however that it came with a carrying bag...which I will probably never use...but you never know... more of a pink than red .. and a bit flimsy August 30, 2013 received in short order and looks ok for what i paid for it... only problem is that is it a dark pink instead of a red.... gave it to my daughter and just picked up a normal black one from the local music store..it has held up well with the abuse an 8yr old can dish out and holds the sheet music well.. my daughter even uses it to hold her paint by numbers paintings ...... the legs are really thin and was worried they would bend easily , but so far so good..... | 6% Three Stars July 16, 2017 Does it's job, I do wish the controls were bigger and the metronome was louder ... Works fine, but tone is terrible June 7, 2017 All the features seem to be fine, but the tone is terrible. The metronome built into my piano is much more pleasant. If it wasn't reasonably cheap I would have returned it just for that. iPhone app is much more accurate and easy to use June 1, 2017 Tuner is difficult to use. iPhone app is much more accurate and easy to use. The metronome is pretty good. If you're getting this to practice with a banjo... May 14, 2015 I wanted to like this more than I actually do. It's not loud enough (even if you have the volume up at its highest) if you are using it for practicing banjo rolls. You end up having to play very softly to hear the metronome. I suppose I could attach it (via the headphone jack) to a speaker, but that kind of defeats its portability. I'll use my Cherub and sigh and use this when I absolutely have to, but do be aware of its volume limitations. Otherwise it's a very trick little unit. Maybe I'll grow to like it better. Who knows? Metronome's sound is too low to be of great use. Earphone's aren't working properly November 23, 2014 Metronome's sound is too low to be of great use. Earphone's aren't working properly. One of them doesn't work at all; the other is compromised by poor sound quality. On the other hand, for someone who doesn't use the earphones and can use the visual beat it's adequate for beginners. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% Only good for sheet music February 9, 2017 Not bad looking but can't hold my large lesson book. The top tips backward when I try to use it. Only good for sheet music. Too much short for someone who needs to stand while playing January 30, 2015 It's just too short. Maybe it's my fault that I didn't read the specs careful enough. But it's too much short for a solo player who needs to stand while playing. (I'm only 63 inches/160 cm high.) Maybe it suits well for the players in a symphonic orchestra, who only play while sitting, or those cello/tuba solo players.Besides it looks a little fragile. The design of the neck means it can't stand too heavy music books. Again, it may suit well for orchestra players who use sheet papers. Fragile January 17, 2015 Be aware that this music stands is somewhat fragile. The metal is thin. We've only had it for a few days and already one of the legs is bent. It is suitable for placing a few pages of sheet music on the support but not much more. My daughters music notebook with about 80 pages caused it to topple over. The height adjusts satisfactorily. It folds up and comes with a carrying sack which is convenient. It is just "okay" for the cost if it's used gingerly. But if you are expecting a music stand like you had in school, this isn't it. ... a little over a week now and it's a fine enough stand but it's very light weight November 12, 2014 I've used this for a little over a week now and it's a fine enough stand but it's very light weight, very flimsy and has a very small shelf for your music. If you're taller than about 5'5" this stand isn't going to be tall enough for you. When I say it's flimsy I mostly mean in the legs. They're very small and thin and can't really support this stand with more than a few sheets of music on it. A slight breeze would knock it over if you used it outside, it won't work on uneven ground, and on most stages, anyone walking by causes it to wobble.I won't say it's junk because it's not. It's a very lightweight, compact and highly portable music stand. And for that it works. But because of that super light weight, it's also not very sturdy or large enough to hold much in the way of music. If you want a super light, small and easily portable stand this is fine. But I wouldn't recommend it for anything beyond that. Poor quality, would not recommend November 7, 2014 I've played violin in orchestras and chamber ensembles for 14 years, since 5th grade, so I've used countless different folding stands. This one is mediocre and better stands can be found for the same price. This stand is not very stable; if you press on it it easily gets shorter; the little sticks that come up to hold your music in place hang down and look unprofessional; the plastic covering on one of the feet fell off after little use; and the carrier bag ripped after little use. I would not recommend this stand. Far too short October 28, 2013 I assumed that any music stand I bought would be tall enough for me to stand while playing the violin. This is the first stand (I have bought many in the past) that is FAR too short. It is only tall enough for a small child to stand while playing. I'm a small woman - 5' 2'' and it is only tall enough for me to sit down. Also the bag was already falling apart when I received the item. Not impressed, returning it. | 3% This was a great exercise in frustration trying to use this tuner for ... September 4, 2017 This was a great exercise in frustration trying to use this tuner for my violin. Even when plugging my electric violin directly into the input, I had a hard time figuring out if I was in tune, flat or sharp. The needle just bounced all over the place. It was NOT helpful and I am returning. Not durable May 16, 2017 I dropped it on the floor about 1 week after it got it. It didn't land hard, but it didn't work after that. It works fine but its nothing to write home about I miss ... August 6, 2016 It works fine but its nothing to write home about I miss my snark. The metrognome is to soft for any practical hard rock punk or metal application. This would be great for a orchestra person. Bad sound December 23, 2015 Great features but hard to hear 16th notes. The cheaper blue Korg has great sound but breaks easily. Still searching (( useless for me November 30, 2014 My intention was to use it to detect my pitch as I played my violin. The tuner was not accurate, with wild needle swings, and both flat and sharp led's lighting at once. It couldn't detect if the pitch was a B, E, or a number of other indications. I had to return it...useless for me. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 5% Not a sturdy stand. It can't hold my music sheets or ... July 18, 2017 I bought this to hold my 3-ring binder of music sheets. The turning knobs won't hold and the stand collapses on its own. Not a sturdy stand. It can't hold my music sheets or anything too heavy. Terrible purchase. Not sturdy - only works with single sheets of paper. February 3, 2017 Stand very wobbly. Will not hold a thin music book without flopping over backwards. This stand is not usable unfortunately. Could only recommend this if you had 1 single sheet of music to put on the stand. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. September 6, 2016 I really hate this stand. The two knobs that tighten the most important parts, for height and angle, just can't be tightened enough. It remains floppy and falls over when even lightly touched. I am going to try to return mine for something sturdier. One Star November 19, 2015 Cute, but incredibly flimsy. Putting any weight on the stand topples it right over. Garbage. May 17, 2015 Absolutely worthless piece of garbage. Screws stripped immediately. Too flimsy to hold up more than a single sheet of music. Portable, but flimsy October 29, 2013 I bought this stand because of the good price and the portability. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of the sturdiness of the stand. I found that the stand failed my 2 basic tests. Firstly, turning a page of sheet music caused the whole stand to wobble. Secondly, I put an iPad on the stand, and the weight knocked it over. I returned this unit for a more expensive stand and am much happier. | 2% Worst metronome ever! October 15, 2017 This is the worst metronome in the whole world!!! This is way too hard to understand! NEVER BUY THIS METRONOME!!!!!! I didn’t understand at all how to use it. Disappointed November 13, 2016 I assumed the tm 50 would be better than it's predecessor, the tm 40. I was wrong. The sounds of both the metronome and the tuner pitches are far inferior to the older model, causing me to wonder why? Lame!!!!!!!! November 11, 2016 The springs in the battery area were rusted and the item does not work!!!!!!!! Not worth the money April 21, 2016 Bought this product to quickly tune a Gibson. Never sounded right though. Bought a Snark clamp on Turner and compared the sound. Now this is back in the box and used as a paper weight | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
