Five Star Reviews: | 53% nice and sturdy May 7, 2016 got this for my daughter as she is playing in her church again. Most stands can not take the weight of the hymnals, this one can. Very nice and sturdy. Excellent! Should have bought this one first! April 15, 2016 It was for my husband and he is wishing he'd gone for this one the last time he bought a generic one. There isn't that much I can say about a music stand but I'm happy with it March 2, 2016 Solid, well made, and exactly what I was expecting. There isn't that much I can say about a music stand but I'm happy with it! | 71% Makes life easier! June 27, 2017 These are super handy! Place a few picks in there, stick it on the back of your headstock (or where ever is best for you) and live worry free of having a pick on hand or when you drop a pic during a show! I think mine holds about 5 picks, I usually use thicker picks. It sticks just fine on the back of my head stock and I can easily grab a pick out of it at any time. I no longer worry about where I have placed my picks, or placing them in the strings for later use. I have this and I always know there is a pick near by. Handy pick holders! March 15, 2017 Good for your pants pocket or instrument case pocket too! Though it has a small square peel and stick on the back for attaching to your guitar if you prefer-as it seems they were designed for that. The springs sometimes get a little wonky, and sometimes picks can get stuck depending on their shape, but overall I like these a lot. They are cheap enough to replace if they get lost or fail. None of mine have done so as yet though!Better than trying to find picks in your pocket when you need them, and you can carry about 4 picks (depends on thickness and shape) or so in them to vary your choice of picks. Stick n pick January 4, 2017 Nifty little pick holder. It has an adhesive square on the back of it so you can stick it to things. I didn't feel like having it ride on my guitar, so I stuck it to the wall. If you use those chubby picks, it will only hold like one of them. So, fair warning. probably not good for that. I think I have about 5 or 6 1mm picks crammed in there. Where have you been all my life!!! RECOMMENDED December 5, 2016 Where have you been all my life!!!Attach it behind the head stock and you will never go hunting for a dropped pick on stage again. It happens to all performers at one time or another. This way you always have spares handy.RECOMMENDEDVOTE thumbs UP IF YOU FOUND THIS HELPFUL ... sort of music gear is limited but I really like this nifty little pick organizer November 7, 2016 As a newbie to guitar I will admit my opinions on any sort of music gear is limited but I really like this nifty little pick organizer! It was a bit smaller than I expected but quite frankly that was a major plus for me. I don't know why I thought it would be like a hockey puck size considering it is holding picks. Maybe the up close pic..tures (pun horribly intended) but I just thought it seemed bigger. But luckily it is pretty small, holds a fair amount of picks, and even can be attached to the guitar for even easier access to pics. I didn't do so out of concern that the sticky strip may mess up the finish on the guitar. No idea if this is a valid concern but figured better safe than sorry. Again newb. The price is very reasonable and honestly it went a long way in terms of practicing. I like to be organized with my hobbies and having my picks at the ready helps me keep on track to find little pockets of time throughout the day to practice the guitar while limiting excuses and time for "finding a pic." Excellent keeper of the picks... July 5, 2016 I paid for this product in Feb 2016 (5 months ago) on a different Amazon account, but I am reviewing it here because this is my primary place for reviews.BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: An excellent way to keep your picks neat and on hand. Great quick gift for a guitarist. I would definitely buy again from Amazon. In fact, I just bought another one for my second guitar!WHAT IS THIS, AND WHY MIGHT I WANT IT?: A convenient holder for a half dozen or more pics. If you're playing and accidentally lose your pic, or if you're just looking for a place to store between practices, this is a handy little gadget.ASSEMBLY: the little he's a sticker on the back simply peels off, and you stick it where you want it. Make sure you have it aligned properly, because it’s fairly strong. Mine has stood up to quite a bit of abuse, and I’ve even knocked it directly a few times when move the guitar around… still there!APPEARANCE: Nice black that blends well enough with most guitars.FEATURES: One of the things I appreciate is the size; specifically, this one is it takes both wide and narrow pics.BUILD QUALITY:: I haven't noticed any tension loss in the spring with repeated use.PRICING & VALUE: Hey, for the price, you definitely can't go wrong. This would even make an excellent stocking stuffer for a guitar aficionado in your life.BOTTOM LINE: An excellent way to keep you picks neat and on hand. Great quick gift for a guitarist. I would definitely buy again from Amazon. In fact, I just bought another one for my second guitar! | 70% i'm very pleased with the quality and price September 22, 2017 i was nervous buying a guitar stand without putting my guitar on it first. there are so many reviews out there about guitar stands falling over. this one is a good quality product, i tested how much it would take to topple the guitar and it's a reasonable amount and unlikely to happen under normal conditions. i don't think a dog passing by would knock it over, for example. i wasn't in love with having a stand with a neck rest because of how it looks but it doesn't look awkward and i see the security that it affords. Great, but holds my guitars crooked May 24, 2017 The quality is above what I expected. Although my guitars don't sit level. I think it's due to the fact that the bottom piece that holds the lower half of the guitar is on a sort of swivel that allows it to rock back and forth. It's stable once a guitar is on it but I can't seem to make my guitar perfectly straight up and down. It's one of those things though where it's hard to notice unless you're actually looking for it. Overall good product. Might buy a couple more. Bought for my Gretsch G5420T and one of my Martin guitars. It holds the thinner guitars well such as my fender and my Gretsch (I guess if you consider that a thinner guitar) as well as the thick acoustics. Not too shabby at all. Great stand at any price July 16, 2016 This stand works well and seems to be well built. Many reviewers are whining about the back leg being so short and the unit being unstable. I find that to be incorrect, unless their children destroy everything in sight. I have four of these stands and none of them have ever damaged any of my basses, A Fender Jazz Bass V, four string Ibanez, five string Ibanez, and six string Ibanez. None of these are inexpensive or light weight instruments. When I need additional stands, these will be my choice. Just a beginner, but I like it. June 20, 2016 I've just begun picking up bass, and as such i've been practicing everyday. Getting the bass out of the bag every day to practice was starting to become a pain so I picked this up to sit in the corner of my room. it's very easy to grab my bass, practice and put it back. Anywhere the touches the guitar is covered in a foam type material. The kick stands are rubber. It also comes apart which makes it easy to move around.I really like it. There's a small rubber locking mechanism for your guitar that's at the top. I've found it's very easy to take off and put it back on.All in all I really love this thing, it's made practicing much less of a process every day, I can just grab the bass and practice. Very good, especially for the price. April 16, 2016 I own several of these. They are solid enough, adjustable, and very good for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass. Also, these are cheaper here on Amazon than at Guitar Center. The only problem I've had with these stands is that the bottom part is too wide to support a Seagull 039227 Merlin Spruce SG Dulcimer 4-String Diatonic Instrument. For that instrument, I bought one of these: Hola! Heavy Duty Folding Universal Guitar Stand - Fits Acoustic, Classical, Electric and Bass Guitars - BlackHola stands are good, but don't have the upper support that these On State stands have. I think these stands are better for guitars and basses. | 81% You need this violin hanger. September 3, 2017 This is a very well made violin hanger and the bow peg is an added bonus. It easily attaches to the music stand. There is never a concern that the violin will fall from the hanger. This thing is great!! June 17, 2016 I bought this violin holder with the purpose of having the violin close by every time I play. Is well made and is durable. You need to make sure you have a strong music stand. The violin does not rest on the pegs. I attached some pictures so you all have a better view how the violin is supposed to rest in the hanger. If you are thinking that the bow may hit the violin and can damage the varnish, from the pictures I attached you can see that the violin bow just barely touches the violin bridge not the varnish. One think you need to have in mind is that this is a hanger. If you are walking close by and hit the violin the violin will swing as well as the bow and you may be able to do some damage, you just need to be aware of your surroundings.Would I recommend this product? Of course...is cheap, is good quality, usable and durable. Cool gadget December 31, 2015 So far works great. Gave this to my violinist daughter. She more often just uses the bow holder to take a rest while practicing, but I also often see her using the hanger for her violin too. I do wish it attached a little more solidly as it has a tendency to loosen a bit and move from side to side, but minor annoyance. It also looks very cool with her stand, music open and violin/bow all together neatly in one place. Love love love this December 30, 2015 Love love love this! I'm a busy mom so trying to get in practice time and live daily life is tough. I love being able to safely set my violin in the swing when I have to run and take something out of the oven, or diffuse a child argument, switch a laundry load, or whatever interrupts me. Then I can literally pick back up where I stopped versus putting it away in a case each time I have to step away. It's also great for working with my daughter as we play together. I can set mine in the swing and assist her then pick back up playing. Every violinist should have one of these! It was easy to install and feels very sturdy December 27, 2015 I bought this for my 10 year old daughter's violin (1/4 size). She has a Manhasset music stand with the added plastic accessory shelf. It does not interfere with placement of the plastic accessory shelf. It was easy to install and feels very sturdy. Some reviewers expressed concern that it rests on the pegs and it may throw the violin out of tune or cause damage to the pegs. That has not been my experience. Her 1/4 size violin rests on the peg box - the pegs themselves are not touching the holder. She has never had any tuning issues with use of the holder. The bow peg holds the bow in front of and just slightly away from the violin. Very pleased. Secure, safe violin and bow hanger December 19, 2014 The violin hanger, once assembled, clamped easily and securely on my music stand. My violin fits nicely in the padded u-shaped holder and my bow fits well on the bow holder. It did take a little effort to screw the u-shaped holder into the clamp, but I feel that was due to the black paint on the threads. Once screwed on, it made for a tight fit. The bow does not rest on the pegs so it does not cause accidental movement of the pegs. See attached photos. |
Four Star Reviews: | 13% Good but accesory piece arrived broken November 1, 2016 The product is good, especially for the price. Many of the music stands have an open tray but we preferred this type as it allows the use of smaller sized books to be used. It arrived with a broken protective cap (which is used on the end of each leg) and wasn't able to contact Amazon who was the seller, as no information was listed. but it is good for the price September 2, 2016 I wish it was sturdier, but it is good for the price. The feet protectors were broken or broke right away after I received it. Very nice stand. August 13, 2016 Purchased this for my 10 year old son. A very nice sturdy stand. A little bigger then I thought it would be, but works well. Hasn't failed me July 17, 2016 Best One I could find with a tray and decent price. Still though most of these stands are made of cheap pot metal and most are 20 bucks and up. A good music stand July 17, 2016 A good music stand. The page holders are just ok, but for the price and quality, it earns 4 stars from me. Works great, only negative is the plastic lock collar March 25, 2016 Works great, only negative is the plastic lock collar. Plastic is not heavy enough, need to be careful when adjusting, or you might break it. | 18% Essential tool August 29, 2017 I love these things, I'm always dropping picks. I had an older version, got this for a new guitar. But it doesn't seem to be made the same, maybe thinner plastic so the picks don't slide out like they used to. Still essential for me. Good quality product. April 4, 2017 Serves its purpose. I wouldn't put it on one of my expensive guitars but it works great for my practice guitar. They do have the capability of falling off after a long period of time. It's happened to me. Makes getting to a pick handy. These are handy for stashing picks on the back at ... March 20, 2017 These are handy for stashing picks on the back at the top of the neck of your guitar, but be careful to place them in a spot that your guitar stand won't knock them off when you hang your guitar up Dunlop 5005R Pick Holder, Black, 3/Bag February 6, 2017 I ordered this Dunlop 5005R Pick Holder, Black, 3/Bag and received it a couple of work days later, for a quick delivery service. It is a nice pick holder and for comparison, I ordered a set of 5 pick holders much cheaper from e-bay and these Dunlops are really a lot better. They both stick onto your place of placement and the Dunlop 5005R's stay after placement. The pick holders from ebay do not stay on very long before releasing and falling to the earth below. So, this is really a better all around pick place to place in the place you would like it to be! 4 Stars! I like it. April 9, 2016 It's plastic, and it holds plastic picks. I crammed about 15 in there. It has adhesive on the back. I stuck mine to my music stand and it stayed put until a drunk guy knocked the stand over at a show and sent it flying across the room. I like it...a nice way to keep them organized in my gear bag too. Works as described, but the Color didn't match the one I orderd. March 27, 2015 This works well to keep your picks where they need to be, easy access.I read most of the reviews and a lot of folks say they attach this to the Headstock. If you use a Capoand (or) a clip on Turner ( I "usually" keep both on the Headstock) then there is no room to attach there. When I ordered mine, the picture showed a brown (better looking) for the color of the Holder.I received a black one that absolutely looks hideous on the Guitar I was planning on attaching this to.If looks doesn't matter, so be it. But they do to me. They do work well and with Nylon .60mm Picks,Mine holds 7 picks and each one comes out like they are supposed to.I gave 4 Stars due to the Color of the Holder as was pictured (Brown) and the Black one I received. | 17% Great stands, great price. April 12, 2017 I've purchased many of these over the years and though they seem to be getting a little "economical" in their construction - still can't beat them for the bang for the buck. Ever since I had a guitar slide off a stand (many, many moons ago) on stage, I've always went with these. The neck strap is a godsend. It works, but you get what you pay for March 24, 2017 As other reviewers have mentioned, this stand is a bit thin and not very stable. Thanks to those reviews I don't pick it up with the guitar, I move them separately. I used to set my cheap guitar next to me - against the bed, a table, the couch, whatever, and it would fall over sometimes when bumped lightly. When I bought a good guitar I also got this stand and it works as a safe place to put it nearby between playing, and then move it out of the way when I'm done. So I have to be careful to keep the thin cheap tubing in mind when moving and when placing the guitar in the stand, but other than that it's fine for how cheap it is.It does what it's meant to, hold the guitar.Double check your guitars finish, some will interact with the foam padding. Good stand! April 23, 2016 Seems to be pretty reliable stand that is very easy to put together. My guitar only sits on the stand in my room, so i don't know how easy it is to travel with the stand. The quality of the materials seems high. The only thing that I found less than ideal was that the support bar (U-shaped) at the bottom of the stand that the guitar rests on doesn't stay in place. It pivots, but stays in place when the instrument is resting on it. That, however, is a very minor complaint. Good, but not Great - has two issues December 29, 2015 I like this for what I use it for, which is a full size acoustic guitar. There are a few issues with it. The metal it's self is solid and put together well. The height of the neck from the swivel base (not the floor) is adjustable from 21" up to about 26" (and still able to use the screw in the back to secure the adjustable neck). The pictures are exactly what you get, so I didn't see the point of taking another picture of the stand. The two issues I have with this stand is 1. It is in fact very unstable. While it's just sitting around, it's nice and as long as it is out of the way then it's fine. If you barely push it diagonally to the back left or back right, it will easily fall over. If it is sitting in a corner you wont have to worry about it. If it is on a stage, in a more high traffic area, or if there are other items around that could push in to it or if you're in a rush to put it down, dog/kids in house - it could easily fall over. I have mine in a corner like most people probably do, however that's a major concern for a stand. The rear peg is just too short. 2. The pads on the metal aren't very high quality. Although they are fine for light use around the house and will probably last a year or more, they will wear out and need to be replaced for sure. They are not very thick but do the job.I really debated on giving it three stars, but for how I'm using it (in home only) and the price, I believe it rated 4 stars. If you want to take it with you somewhere, I would consider a different option. Great value, adequately stable. July 11, 2015 For ten bucks a toss, who can quibble? I wanted something that supported the neck, because I had a couple of mishaps with other designs. These are adequately strong and stable. Contrary to some other reviewers, I noticed no smell, I had no problems with the fittings or set screws, and had no significant instability problems. The stubby rear leg is not an issue: the stand is not going to fall over backwards. True, there is more possibility of falling forwards, but careful placement of the guitar body in the swiveling lower yoke will shift the weight and improve stability. It might make a difference what instrument you're using. Or, do what I plan to do and set these against a wall so nobody will hit them from the back.My only real complaint is that the legs do not lock positively into the deployed position, but tend to pop out of position. But when standing upright, the weight of the instrument plus the weight of the stand itself negates this issue. There are plenty of instrument stands out there with more features and much better protection. They also cost many times as much. These three are now at church, holding two guitars and a bass. They'll serve for years to come. Can't beat it for the price September 14, 2013 This stand was actually better than I was expecting. It works great for holding my guitar. The frame itself is made from good-quality metal, and the feet and back are angled well to hold the weight without tipping, sitting rather firmly. The neck cradle is cushioned with foam, as well as the prongs that hold the body of the guitar at the bottom. the neck cradle also has a rubber peice that you can hook across to help hold the guitar inside, in case it is bumped by someone walking by. the other aspect that I like is that the prongs at the bottom actually swivle a bit, to help adjust for different body styles. So it would be a decent stand for multiple body types, not just the basic ones. I can see this stand staying with me for a long time, and was well worth what I paid for it. | 11% It really helps! November 14, 2016 I really like this! I wish the holder went a little bit wider so that I could slide it onto a bookshelf. Otherwise it's perfect. The violin doesn't hang by the pegs, FYI. I was kind of worried about that but it doesn't, ever. During lessons it's a lot quicker and easier to hang up the violin if I need to write something than to find a near-by safe place to set both it and the bow, do what I need to do, and then gather them both back up. Simple, but effective. December 6, 2015 Nothing fancy, but it works surprisingly well. The violin hangs by the scroll, not by the pegs. The bow doesn't touch the violin. Great solution for those with limited space. This may work!! July 20, 2014 This is a good attachment to one's stand while not using the instrument. I do worry that it my loosen if bumped. I have only used it on my stand at home. I had bought it for the purpose of attaching it to music stands outside my home. Instead of laying down my violin on a hard Church pew, I can hang it on the hanger. Good add-on for your solid music stand August 25, 2013 If you've got a good solid music stand, this is a clever and well-executed accessory - lets you safely and quickly hang your instrument and bow when you're interrupted or taking a quick break. Works well with a little adjustment. February 20, 2012 Hooks on stand very easily but the violin always seemed to rest on the bottom tuning peg as you can see in the picture. I don't like the idea of the hanger possibly throwing the violin out of tune so I made a minor adjustment. All I did to solve this was turn the hanger upside down. When you do this it levels the hanger with the floor and the violin sits on the arch at the top of the neck instead of resting on the tuning peg. |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% Broken when arrived July 20, 2016 When this arrived, two were fine and a leg was broken on one of them. I love the stand, though. I shipped the broken one back. The product did not come with any instructions and I ... February 24, 2016 The product did not come with any instructions and I can't figure out how to get the page clips to attach. | 7% Good place to keep picks September 11, 2017 Nice way to keep your picks together. I don't think I'll ever actually stick it to any guitar. I do have a zip-pocket on my guitar gig case which is a fine place to keep it. I don't like it as much as the Dunlop 5006SI which I also bought. This one works and is cheaper but not as nice looking. It's okay... April 5, 2017 Wish it held more picks. Not bad, but not amazing. Only holds a few picks. Would be 5 stars if the capacity were greater. Good idea, but lots of wasted space. February 25, 2016 The idea of this is good, but it fastens to your surface with a sticker. It might be handier if it were more easy to move around. It doesn't hold very many picks, either, because of the spring action taking up so much of the inner space. I put the picks in it and I just carry it around in my case. It's not much more convenient than the little ziploc baggie that I have gotten my picks shipped in. If it had a magnet on the bag, it might be a tad more useful for attaching to convenient metal surfaces. I don't have a standard "guitar place" where having it stuck to a surface or wall would be convenient for me. If you do, you might really love this. The idea is great, and it's well-made; just not as useful as I had hoped. Good idea but not for every guitar February 22, 2016 Bought two of these since they were so cheap- one as a gift which was very well received and one for myself. My guitar pick-guard on my Taylor cutaway is too small to add this to and I'm afraid to put it anywhere on the unpolished wood surface. It might be fine but I haven't risked using it. Check where your hand goes over the pick-guard before buying. It might get in your way. Meehh July 31, 2015 Thing is HUGE! I mean for holdin' a few picks? I dunno, I've never used one b4 so I have a limited frame of reference I guess.. Although I have seen a ton used. This one seems pretty atypical. I can't find a place to put this thing where its not in the way. It's not like I'm plucking a mandolin, it was for a full size Fender acoustic so the guitar is pretty typical in size and shape. I guess this si sposta be a "one size fits all" and that it'd probly do well. It occupies enough real estate to accommodate a dozen of those big a$$ triangle bass picks. It's full at a 10 .70mm regular picks, w/ a lot of room on the sides for those rounder more squat type picks. So if your wanting that, there ya go. Can I justify buying a bass on this? it's a thought.... It does what its supposed to do, hold picks, but its bigger than I thought it would be. February 23, 2014 This product does what its supposed to do, hold pics.It comes with foam stick pad on the back to attach to your instrument or other location you choose so you have easy access to your plectrums. The thing I did not like is how big it actually is, specifically wide, I would like to see a more compact version. The picture is a little misleading, by looking at the image it looks like a pick will fit snugly, taking up the majority of space in the holder, but in fact the holder dwarfs the pick.I will submit some user photos to show what I am talking about.Fits 9 .60mm plectrums, 10 if you force them.Fits 7 .96mm pletrums, 8 if you force them.Fits 5 1.14mm plectrums, 6 if you force them | 5% Good stand, lousy security strap August 19, 2017 This is a good stand. It supports my guitar very well & I like how it has the appropriate lean to keep the guitar upright & safe. I gave the guitar stand a 3 because the security strap is poorly designed. When secured, it does its job. However, it is difficult to release or the anchored side pops out of the tubing. It is a quick fix to pop it back in. It is just a regular occurrence & annoying. Light duty stand June 7, 2017 Works fine. Nothing special. Three stars because it doesn't WOW me. It's a basic guitar stand that is light duty. Does the job, but the design is lacking April 22, 2017 The assembly was easy, but I kept thinking that something was wrong because there's no way to securely fasten the top piece to the bottom. I found it odd, and then I realized it's just made that way. It makes me uncomfortable because it seems unstable, but the guitar is fine. One day, I made the mistake of grabbing the stand by the top and the fell apart. Luckily, my guitar wasn't on the stand. Ok, but one little flaw March 13, 2017 I like the design, but they are hard to close down to a small size for transport. For some reason the inside tube will not slide easily into the outer tube. Something is stopping it move past the screw, even with is unscrewed all the way. I travel with these a lot a really needed them to fold down smaller than they do. A little disappointed. it held it just fine. The only thing that's kind of a drag ... March 10, 2017 Seemed a little unstable when first put together but once I set my guitar in it, it held it just fine. The only thing that's kind of a drag is the strap that goes across the neck of the guitar pops off sometimes when you go to get the guitar out. But it's a great product for the price! OK but didn't fit my daughter's Epiphone Pro February 8, 2016 It seems like an ok product but for some reason it does not fit my daughter's Epiphone Pro-1 plus acoustic guitar that we bought here on Amazon - the bottom piece is too shallow and so the guitar leans forward and would fall out if not for the crosspiece at the top - that just doesn't seem like a safe thing and so we are returning it and looking for something else. I don't think that is an odd-sized guitar but somehow it doesn't fit. I looked at the customer photos and I don't know how they got the back bar angled backward to prevent the instrument from falling forward, I think that must have been user-modified. | 5% ... long as the head of the music stand is sturdy - this is a good buy for easy access ... May 12, 2016 As long as the head of the music stand is sturdy - this is a good buy for easy access if your a multi instrumentalist. But even still -invest in your investment get a good floor stand too. One needs to be careful when ordering this, that ... March 3, 2015 One needs to be careful when ordering this, that the clamp part fits your music stand. The shelf part of my stand is thicker than the one shown , so it won't fit. There is nothing wrong with the product it is high quality, just doesn't fit on my music stand. I should have measured.... what is that they say measure twice????? Three Stars October 12, 2014 it gets in the way of my music on the stand other than that it is convenient. Not sure if this is good for a violin February 17, 2014 I got it for my daughter so that she doesn't have to take the violin out from the case every time she wants to play. Because the violin is not an expensive one, I don't have a concern; but for a great violin, I'd feel uneasy and that one doesn't need this gadget. Okay October 21, 2013 Not really the same as showed int he picture, but the quality is quite good and it works pretty good for meBut could be holding the violin more nicely |
Two Star Reviews: | 13% It's not very good... January 11, 2017 Other reviews read things like "flimsy" and "unstable" aaaaaaaand so does this one...... I mean you can technically put stuff on it but that's sort of winning by a technicality. That being said, I don't hate it for holding my voiceover scripts but I would never let a professional musician in my studio use it for their songbooks. Terrible, terrible, terrible investment for my music program. January 10, 2017 These music stands are flawed. They are flimsy. The clips which manage the height of the music stand do not last. The tri-pod legs break almost as soon as they are taken out of the box. I would never re-order them, nor would I ever recommend them to anyone else. I bought 12. I'm saddled with 6 broken and I only bought them two months ago. Terrible, terrible, terrible investment for my music program. Go for higher quality...skip these November 5, 2016 These stands seemed great at first, but just 5 months later, two have broken completely. Honestly, the basic wire stands hold up much better than these. This has taught me to go for the higher quality deluxe stands in future.... Flimsy and Disappointing - You Get What You Pay For July 26, 2016 Unfortunately this was a case of "You get what you pay for" or maybe worse. They were relatively cheap, but it was for a reason. As other reviewers have stated, the leg caps came broken. Sadly for myself I missed the return window since I didn't open them right away (that is my own fault and is not factoring in to my review). However be wary that if you are used to dealing with stands from traditional retailers (such as Sam Ash), this will NOT meet your expectations. They do not feel sturdy at all, quite the contrary, they are flimsy and feel like they will bend quite easily, particularly the piece that connects the stand to the legs. By the way, note from the product pictures that the angle adjustment is limited. We will see how long they actually last. Cheers! | 2% Doesn't work for felt picks May 17, 2017 I have a ukulele so I use felt picks. I couldn't even put one in without it getting stuck. I ended up having to break the edges to get it out. But I did try it with my guitar picks and it worked fine. I don't really like it. It's not that easy to grab a ... September 13, 2016 I don't really like it. It's not that easy to grab a pick quickly, so I wouldn't rely on this product as a backup solution for live shows. I love having lots of back up picks because I loose ... August 8, 2016 This is a low price but an incredible purchase! I love having lots of back up picks because I loose them so often. This pick holder can hold ten or more depending on your picks and sticks very nicely and blends into wherever you decide to put it on your guitar. Esaly able to self mount this on your own guitar. I have super thin picks and could only fit four of them ... March 5, 2016 I have super thin picks and could only fit four of them in here, and only two of my grip tips. Waste of money. I need different thicknesses of picks for different playing styles and this just didn't give me what I needed it for. The picks are also really difficult to get out except for the one on top, and that's only if you fill it completely. The last one or two in were almost impossible to slide out, and the spring inside is very flimsy and doesn't offer any give. The size of the holder is probably better suited to those old bass style picks July 21, 2015 The size of the holder is probably better suited to those old bass style picks... Good idea, but the design isn't great - and if you overfill it it is annoying, but even with just a few in it, sometimes it isn't easy to get them out. So you end up putting picks in there poking out a little. Not sure if it is better than the Dokken-style blue-tac solution, even if you want something more hip and less hair. | 3% Mistake on my part August 30, 2017 I had purchased two of the stands prior to this purchase, the quality of this one seems inferior to the prior ones I would not recommend the stand it leans back to far The build quality is subpar look somewhere else get a better one. A whole lotta meh. Average at best. August 25, 2017 For the price, the are ok but if I had to do it over, I would get the On Stage heavy duty stands. They are definitely built better. When tightening down the neck holder of the lighter duty stands, the head goes askew to the base. The plastic band plugs that are supposed to help keep the guitar secure pull off easily. I pulled all mine off and put a little dab of super glue to keep them from popping off. You definitely get what you pay for! I would not gig with these for sure! flimsey May 7, 2017 For a few dollars more I could have gotten a much sturdier stand. Definitely, not what I would use for an expensive guitar. I am used to getting excellent items when sold by and through Amazon. Maybe store this one away, and buy a good sturdy stand. Two design flaws cause instability May 20, 2016 Two issues with this, either of which can lead to potential disaster. 1. The rear foot (the shortest one) is too short, making the stand too easy to tip backwards. I have another, similar stand, and it's engineered with a longer rear foot and is therefore much more stable. 2. The bottom brace is too wobbly, making it all too easy for a guitar not perfectly placed in the center (or not shaped perfectly round on the bottom--think Fender) to fall to one side under the weight of gravity. This almost happened to me with a very expensive stratocaster yesterday evening. I was lucky to catch the guitar in time. I would not recommend this product and will not buy another one. Simple things not so simple December 30, 2015 I got my first acoustic guitar for Christmas and was excited to get the stand to set it up in my home studio. However, when I got it, it was poorly manufactured. It seems simple enough for a manufacturer such as On Stage but the simplest things aren't so simple. The screw that holds the top arm in place and also allows it to slide if you loosen/tighten it was not properly molded or something so when you tighten it, it turns the top arm left. The more you tighten it the more it turns. This throws the whole guitar and thus the whole stand off making it no better than standing it up against the wall. I will be returning this and asking for a refund. Quite disappointed, not sure how it had such good reviews.UPDATE:Amazon Basics has a GREAT guitar stand for about $13. Very solid, very sturdy and low potential to break. Much better option. Don't buy if you actually want a locking stand. December 17, 2015 Stand is fine other than the completely useless "locking" mechanism which was my primary reason for purchasing. The top "U" has push-on plastic endcaps, with essentially a rubber band between them. When locked it's not too bad - but "unlocking" is pretty problematic. Since the plastic pieces just push on, the typically simply slide on when you are attempting to remove the "band" - only they are not supposed to and the plastic piece falls out of the band and rolls around on the flood. If you try what I did and use your thumb on the center of the plastic piece to stabilize it while removing the band the top of the plastic piece will fall off after a few times rendering the locking mechanism useless. | 2% Not secure enough September 8, 2016 It's held on to the sheet music stand by a single screw. This means that regardless of how much you tighten it, it will always be very easy to turn sideways. The Connection is strong, but the stands balance "CAN" be weak. April 30, 2016 I have been playing the violin for 15 years, and I have seen too many stands fall over, the tightness of the connection between the hook and stand is very strong, and the violin will likely not fallout. However, if the stand is topples the damage to the violin could be very bad. I keep my violins hanging on the wall using a string swing, however, stands are often unreliable in balance, and easily topple over if bumped. I would be very leery to leave my violin hanging in such predicaments. Not a good idea. The Violin can fall down December 28, 2015 Not a good idea. The Violin can fall down. Disappointed February 3, 2015 Unfortunately, I don't love this item. It puts too much pressure on the pegs, causing them to turn. Great idea though. |
One Star Reviews: | 15% Poorly designed August 22, 2017 We've owned these stands for 2 months, and were out of town (not left the product at home) for 1 month of that time. 2 of the 3 legs broke where connected to the body of the stand while simply standing during a practice. No one was even touching it. Upon inspection, we see that it is very poorly designed, with the holes cut right next to the edge of the plastic, providing very little structural integrity to the connecting points, which are flimsy plastic. I had no idea that cardboard could be so thin and useless. Opened the toilet paper layered "box" and the ... August 7, 2017 We ordered this music stand and the packaging was basically made of toilet paper. I had no idea that cardboard could be so thin and useless. Opened the toilet paper layered "box" and the music stand legs were broken in 5 or 6 pieces! Basically anything plastic attached to this item was broken! Ok, so they just had a rough trip, so we request a replacement... ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? We receive the replacement item in the same flimsy packaging and IT'S BROKEN! The only difference in the two was at least the first one was broken pieces contained inside plastic bags, but the second!... tiny, broken, plastic, pieces slid out of the "box" all over the place! The metal tray? BENT! SMH, truly a piece of junk. Sorry. Poor poor quality May 2, 2017 Poor poor quality. DO NOT BUY. It's exactly what you pay for. The stand was broken when it arrived. Not just a shipping damage issue. the product is made of cheap plastic materials and any metal parts are sure to break within days of use. Broken upon arrival -- obviously cannot hold much weight April 5, 2016 The foot of the music stand came broken in pieces. This is not acceptable. You expect more from a heavy duty music stand, which is advertised to hold a good amount of weight. Save yourself disappointment spend the extra $ January 22, 2016 I want to like this. I do. But I can't because of the complete lack of ergonomics put into this things design. It's very flimsy. Portion to set your music on is held in place by a bendable piece of metal (feels like aluminum) only about as thick as my thumbnail, and doesn't secure. It just kind of sits there. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for a better one, especially since the packing job is abysmal. Nothing is secured and I had to glue and tape parts of stand's legs right out of the box. Do NOT buy this. | 2% useless and used August 24, 2017 mine came used hair on the tape which was used already so it didnt stick to anything and you can see the finger print of whom ever tried to repackage it didnt even care the tape didnt work as they squished it down to hide the pull marks I am disappoint May 14, 2016 This is ridiculously large for a standard guitar pick and looks really silly when attached. I was hoping for streamlined/hidden in plain sight but instead it's like a big fan fly mole. If it was 15-20% smaller it would be ok......except that it also binds up. Still holds the picks ok but I feel like it's going to break at any second. It's not worth shipping back so straight to the garbage. The same seller seems to have a better one (I say seem to as I have not ... December 22, 2014 I bought this unit because I read in one of the reviews that it ships with pics. THAT IS NOT TRUE! This item does not include Pics. This one is a bit flimsy and the opening to pull out the pics is narrow. The same seller seems to have a better one (I say seem to as I have not bought it) for the same price... check out: http://www.amazon.com/Dunlop-Pickholder-picks-not-included/dp/B0002GLDQM/ref=sr_1_4?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1419306039&sr=1-4 Not worth it June 13, 2014 Does not dispense picks as easily as I thought - gets stuck constantly. I ended up storing my picks in a mini Altoids container - works much better. Don't buy, piece of junk. March 14, 2014 Don't waste your money.Get something else other than plastic.I got me a small wooden container in the shape of a guitar pick. You can also just use a small mint tin container. | 5% Terrible, horrible, don't waste you time or money, these are JUNK September 19, 2017 Of these 3, only one could be assembled from the parts provided. For the one I could put together, there is nothing secure about this product. Everything is loose, unbalanced, poor quality. The others couldn't be assembled because they arrived broken (poor quality plastic pegs that are supposed to hold the neck strap in place were broken off--no pieces in box which suggests these were broken prior to packing) as well as one neck strap was just not present. This falls into the category of "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is". I should have known better. Please learn from my mistake. The guitar stands are great, especially for the price May 31, 2017 The guitar stands are great, especially for the price, but one of the 3 was missing a piece at the top that holds the guitar in place. Not worth the hassle to return. Cheap and not worth it April 13, 2017 The stand didn't come with any instructions and it's wobbly. The neck moves around I am not confident of letting it hold my guitar. I'm going to purchase another stand as this really isn't up to the quality I am used to. ... back I knew I had bought a piece of crap! Are guitar stands supposed to swivel on the ... April 1, 2017 When I assembled this stand and found that the bottom "yoke" guitar rest swivels with NO LOCKING NUT at the back I knew I had bought a piece of crap! Are guitar stands supposed to swivel on the bottom rest? Who in their right mind would risk putting their prized instruments on this stand? Well under $15 bucks I should have know better!! Very cheap, mine broke on the initial setup. Only buy this if you are looking for an excuse to call Amazon support for a return. August 6, 2016 I opened the box, slid the top metal bar vertically down into the base, went to attach the tightening screw... it the hole was too big for the tightening screw to do anything. So, RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX, the thing was useless. I was so disappointed because I own a B.C. Rich Warlock that can only be hung from its headstock, making floor stands difficult to find. The product is made from cheap and hollow [what feels like] aluminum... reminiscent of the cheap lawn chairs from the 1970's trailer parks. The only good thing from this was Amazon's support and they took care of my problem the day it arrived with a refund -- since I definitely didn't want another one of these terrible stands. Not Sturdy. The FretRest from Guitar Center is worth the extra $8. May 24, 2016 I have a couple of FretRest guitar stands I bought from Guitar Center (HT1010). They're $8 more so I figured these were probably the same thing, probably from the same factory in China, just with a different label. Save $8 why not right? Nope. They probably used about one-third less material so that's where some of that $8 savings came from.I immediately noticed how much shorter the back/middle leg was compared to the FretRest stand. But then I thought, maybe the FR is just unnecessarily long and this short one might work fine. I put my guitar on it, and pushed it (while holding it) and compared the two, and this one definitely doesn't put up much resistance at all. With a little push the thing will fall right back. The FretRest will actually hold it even with 2-3 times the pressure. That's the biggest problem. But everywhere else you look, the rubber feet, way smaller, the rubber latch, smaller, even the metal tubing is about one-third smaller.I have some fairly nice guitars, but even if I just had a basic guitar I probably wouldn't try to save the $8 and put it on this stand. It might be fine, but I'd rather spend an extra $8 and get a stronger stand.Take a look at the attached photos. The "On Stage" one is on the left. The "FretRest" from Guitar Center is on the right in all the pictures. And no, I don't work for Guitar Center or even particularly like them, but the stand from them is better than this one. | 1% Too bad because I thought the design was clever May 14, 2015 Returned this item. The weight of the violin and bow pulled the music stand down. Too bad because I thought the design was clever. |
