Very good deal
August 30, 2017
For the money, a deal: sturdy, a workhorse, well-built. This saw will go through a 4x4 in nothing flat. The 10" blade would not satisfy and pro, but I'm a weekend builder and I'm very satisfied.
Great!!!
December 11, 2016
Looks like the picture. I bought a refurbished one and paid half the price. I make dog beds and I am good with this saw!

June 18, 2015
Everything is square and accurate on it except the laser line. But I don't need the laser line. I did replace the supplied blade with a used Diablo 80-tooth blade from my Ryobi table saw and bought a new Diablo blade for the table saw.
Cuts 4x4x8's like going through butter.
March 28, 2015
I recently barrowed a friends $600 Dewalt Miter Saw, decided to get one myself, this one cost me less than 1/6th of the Dewalt, Today I used it, ripped 4 pressure treated 4x4x8's to size,, like going through butter...cut dozens of 2x4s. very powerful motor, cut as quickly as the $600 Dewalt.. its light weight, but has a lot of punch.. Im very pleased with it...

Stanley 46-071 Premium Quick Square
August 6, 2017
Excellent product I would buy it again, and recommend it to anyone who's looking for something like this especially for this low priceWorks exactly like it should be not much to say about it! It does what it's design/made for.I would recommend to a friend!
Great all-around tool for handy people
July 28, 2017
I had never heard of this tool, but my sister asked me to get one for a remodeling project we did. It's amazing. The easiest way to make sure things are perpendicular, excellent for measuring small spaces, great for drawing a line on a piece of trim before you cut it. Everyone handy should have one of these.
Nice Basic Squaring Tool
March 9, 2017
No complaints. It is a very useful tool and this one is adequate for my basic need for a straight line and help with calculating the angles. It is replacing a plastic one I was very attached to but all the numbers wore off so maybe this metal will be an improvement.
Exactly as described.
May 19, 2016
Square had a small cosmetic nick when it arrived but not the products fault.Pros: The yellow on black lettering is easy to read, and cut into the metal so it won't rub off quickly. Metal construction feels like it will take a few accidental drops. Can't beat it for the price.Cons: Not much to find fault with, the only thing I could see as a potential issue for others is that the notches for the numbering are a little rough and might scratch or scar a nicer wood project.
Quality Square
November 14, 2015
This is what you would expect from a quality brand like Stanley. I love how light this square is for being made of metal and it has held up very well in the several months that I've owned it. I'm a machine maintenance technician and my tools get a lot of use and quality is a big deal for me. This is one of those tools that is definitely worth buying for the long haul.
Can't be beat for the price!
October 21, 2015
I've only recently started woodworking, so in all honesty, I still consider myself the rankest of amateurs. That being said, this speed square has been one of my most used tools and is invaluable! I originally purchased the square to use as a crosscut guide for my circular saw (and for which purpose this little guy excels), but since then it's come in handy for making quick measurements while building tables and other pieces of furniture. There's not a lot else to say--this tool is straight, useful, and most certainly adds speed to my projects. Also keep in mind that if you receive a square that truly isn't straight (as we all know manufacturing defects are not impossible), you can use Stanley's lifetime warranty to get this replaced. I recommend this square wholeheartedly!

May 29, 2016
I got this refurbished and it's done what I needed it to do. I've used it for multiple trim projects and used it for laminate flooring projects as well. A good deal for the price and the blade that came with it is still in good shape after quite a bit of use.

March 11, 2016
My only issue with this was the blade. It was too dull and was shredding the edges of the boards very badly. A new blade solved the problem, but a new blade should have been provided in the first place.
Works fine for me!
February 15, 2016
Works great, laser is a little off and can't quite be trusted but at half the price who cares. I've really only done trim work but definitely a solid purchase from a stand up company.
Good
December 2, 2015
This machine has work great and I'm yet to have any issues with. I haven't done heavy cutting with it, but the with the small jobs I've conducted, including hard flooring, it has yet to give me any issues.
This is a nice value for the money saw
November 5, 2015
This is a nice value for the money saw, however there are shortcomings. I purchased this saw for DIY projects so it does not get used heavily. It has performed well so far in regards to cutting performance and power. The angles are easy to change and it does not seem to walk or need adjustment. The reason for the 4 stars, and the biggest issue with this saw in my opinion, is that the alignment and angles are not very accurate. Once the angle has been set, it will repeat it every time without deviation, so precision is not an issue here, but it is hard to set it to the exact angle or align the cut using the built in laser from the first try without marking out the work piece with a pencil and lowering the blade to verify alignment. I was told by several people that this is to be expected with cheaper saws which are not meant to be used for precision or high volume work, so I did not expect it to be construction-quality, especially not at the price. Having said that, I do believe that it is a good saw for the money and if you are on a budget, it will work well for smaller projects even though it may take a bit of extra effort to do precise cuts with it.
An adequate tool.
April 23, 2015
It looked as good as new -- in fact, it may be new after whatever repairs Ryobi had to make. The cross-cutting accuracy did need a little adjustment. The only caveat I would add is that the purchaser probably should plan to purchase a more serious 10" blade. It does come with a blade, as advertised, but it is not good for any serious work. It is the lightest weight 10" blade I have ever seen, and it is configured and sharpened as a rip tooth blade, which makes no sense for a cross-cutting saw.

July 12, 2017
It arrived with a crack all the way around the 1 inch. Not sure how long it will last. But it was cheap. Yellow color on black is great! You can read everything easily.
Very easy and quick to use
May 2, 2017
I purchased this for use in building a bed for my daughter. The loft bed needed stairs and a platform, using a square to build the steps was easy.It worked very well with 2x4 and 2x6 lumbar to get things together. Particularly it made easy work of getting the stairs setup, measured and in the right spots. If you're using 2x10 or larger I suggest you look for a slightly larger square. You could probably make this work but a larger one would be easier to use. For 2x8 and smaller this should work perfect. My photo shows the square on a 2x6 standard pine lumber.I'm glad I purchased this and wish I had one to use with other projects sooner.
Great tool
September 15, 2016
A friend of mine introduced me to this type of square while we were doing some remodeling in my basement so I picked up this stanley version of the swanson speed square and overall i'm pretty happy with it. The rafter or speed square as a general class of tool is absolutely amazing. I don't know how i've never used or owned one before. Stanley's version is good solid tool it is missing the little teeth on the inside that you can use to draw lines at set distances along the length of a board that is part of the name brand design. overall i'm happy with this tool and will use it for years. If i was buying again i'd go with the swanson one just for that extra feature
Just one more thing on the list of tools we need to build some basement walls this summer, very nice square.
May 13, 2016
We bought a house with an unfinished basement, I was building a list of supplies we will need to complete some walls put up insulation make it more family friendly and most important not so cold in the Michigan winters :) The quick square was one thing mentioned over and over, I wasn't even sure how to use it honestly but now after some DIY videos and youtube help I realize once we build walls this will help us to make sure they are true beyond just the use of a level and to cut true stud edges, Inexpensive yet effective it was on the list which I am almost done filling and hope to tackle those walls early summer of 2016 ;)
A simple but utterly essential tool for small projects.
April 9, 2016
A simple but utterly essential tool for small projects. I use this almost every single time I am making cuts on a small project. The markings are clear and rugged enough that they do not appear to be wearing with use/abuse, as this thing does get knocked around quite a bit. Mine arrived straight and ready for use, which is basically all I wanted. I wasn't asking for much when I went shopping for a straight edge, and I have yet to find anything wrong with this straightforward Stanley product, except PERHAPS to say that yellow markings for measurements are perhaps not a good choice, as they tend to be a little more 'fuzzy' in bright light, which you hopefully have in your shop. That you're working outside in the daylight. Either way, yes we know your product colors are black and yellow Stanley.Stop making tiny numbers yellow please. If there were a way to mess this up, I would be impressed. And disappointed.Fortunately, I am neither of these things. Works great, doesn't bend, resistant to wear. Cheap.

Good light weight Chop Saw for the money!
Saw looked to be pretty heavily used
December 10, 2015
Received the box and opened it. Saw was just sitting in the large box with a few of the large air bag things (mostly deflated). Saw looked to be pretty heavily used. Turntable is heavily scratched and the plastic piece that surrounds the blade cutout probably should have been replaced during the refurb if it actually got one. Definitely not refurbed to "like new condition'. Does cut ok. Detents on the rotation seem to be off a bit but can get it to drop into place by wiggling it a bit. See photo attached.

Good homeowner grade miter saw
May 30, 2015
Very good saw for the value, but clearly not contractor or heavy use quality. It is a very light duty (and aside from the laser guide) no frills tool. The fence is very low and without a supplementary fence addition will not work for even average sized crown molding or baseboard work. Overall however, this is an excellent value and accurate saw. Not too much savings for a reconditioned model (about a 20 dollar savings) but even at regular price it's a value. The one real missing piece is a top mounted carrying handle. I had one on my previous Ryobi 10" miter saw and really missed it when I received this saw. I had purchased the previous model about 15 years ago and this saw is substantially lighter in weight and duty.

April 20, 2017
It's a typical speed square, but the edges are not completely smooth. Where the markings of the ruler are, it is grooved along the edges, so it creates a semi-jagged edge. It still allowed me to use my circular saw to run straight cutting some wood. But when drawing lines, it can be bumpy. I found some speed squares at Home Depot that were more of what I wanted and it was 2 for $7.
I prefer the Craftsman speed square
January 10, 2016
It's a speed square. It gets the job done. However, I ended up getting a Craftsman speed square from Sears. It's now my main one. It's also made out of aluminum, but a thicker gauge, meaning it's less likely to warp or break. It also have some features that the Stanley does not, such as the ability to scribe a parallel line between 1" and 5.5" off the edge of a piece of wood. What that means is if you plan on ripping a board that's 8 foot long, and need to take 3 inches off, you can use the Craftsman to quickly draw the cut line. With the Stanely you'd have to use a chalk line. Another plus is that Craftsman speed square is made in the USA, so you're helping your neighbor, while the Stanley is made in Tiawan.
Decent.
October 31, 2015
Decent. Don't use a lot because of large botton rail.

September 15, 2015
looks really good in my garage, will have to find a use for it soon when i decide to do something around the house. easy to read and nice size for most projects you can fathom
Could be more square...
September 9, 2014
I don't think it's 100% square. Many times have I found a slight discrepancy between this and Stanley's Combination T-square. The discrepancy also exists between lines drawn with this square and cuts on my miter saw. The "check" that makes me SURE it's this tool is after marking a line on one side of a 2x4 and checking that same line from the other side of the 2x4... they're always slightly off angle. Perhaps the paint or powder coating on it makes it uneven?

A good reconditioned miter saw for a DIY guy like me

October 7, 2015
i waited a bit before reviewing this saw ... for the first couple of weeks it worked wellthen, last night, i was making a simple cut to even up the end of a 2X4 and the miter fence broke (not gently), kicking the piece up ... luck was that i had a firm enough grip to prevent any serious damage, but now i need to find a new fence ... not sure what the warranty is ... stars fell on this review because of this malfunction

May 24, 2017
For some reason, only one side (the side with the Stanley logo) is in square. I cut a lot of 2 x 4s before I realized that they were cut on a slight angle. But when I flipped the square over to the side with the logo, the line squared up.
Inch Measurements Off / Yellow Lettering Blotchy
July 25, 2015
Yellow indented lettering poorly applied with black showing through so it's not easy to read at a glance. Also the inch measurements do not line up with the beginning pivot point, so accuracy is compromised. Very cheap made in China item and I expected better quality from a Stanley brand product. I would return it but it's not worth the hassle for me.
Not a straight-edge - Poor quality control (or design)
May 21, 2015
The measuring edge is severely curved down/inward for more than the last inch, making it useless as a straight-edge past 4-5 inches. Unsure if it's a design flaw or single item defect. Exchanged for another brand/similar item.
use to love this square because it was thinner than the rest

use to love this square because it was thinner than the rest , but now it is the same as all the rest nothing special
Sharp edges, not square, more expensive than Swanson...
May 23, 2014
I'm returning this square because of its very sharp edges first. As soon as I picked it up I was concerned about being cut. Second, not everything is square on it. Also, the original Swanson Speed Square is less expensive (granted I'm now paying a shipping fee for the return) and there aren't scribe notches on this square (my fault for not looking at it more closely and assuming they'd be there). So, look at the original Swanson before you buy this one.
Thin Aluminum
July 28, 2013
This square is pretty standard and seems accurate. The downside is that it is made out of somewhat thin aluminum. I stepped on it once and bent it easily. My swanson square is thicker and has never bent with the occasional misstep. I'd recommend buying the swanson instead.

Save your money for a good blade
January 1, 2017
A very crappy saw. Way too light weight for even a weekend wood hobbyist. Aluminum base and fence. Returned after 45 minutes of truing and one cut. Basically, the saw felt dangerous. Yes, I know what I'm doing with a chop saw, having made a very good living with a few other brands. Wanted to give these Ryobi's a chance after having owned used Deltas and Dewalts for over 20 years. Bought the comparable Dewalt, without the useless laser (doesn't matter who makes it, they are always out of sync with the blade) Paid a hundred $$ more, but I won't have to buy the saw again, if you catch my drift...
WRONG PRODUCT!!
December 30, 2016
I ordered this a little over a week ago and it showed up today. What I received however was a pressure washer, not even a Miter Saw. At least the pressure washer is Ryobi brand? Can't really say that I would buy from this company if they don't know the difference between a Miter Saw and a Pressure Washer.

Square not very square
August 8, 2016
Squares are not straight off of flanges and not exactly 90 degrees at the square angle! gees, the one thing a square needs to get right. I bought two and set them against each other on a flat glass surface and on a precise machining surface. They are both off and certainly off from each others. I returned them.
WILDLY INACCURATE
March 6, 2016
I used this to mark and cut 60° angles on the ends of 4x6 timbers. After making 36 cuts and assembling my project, I discovered the angles were not true, so nothing fit tight. So I went back on a scrap piece and made another cut another right at the 60° mark, just as before. Then I measured it with another protractor. The angle was off by 2 or 3 degrees! NOT HAPPY.
This one arrived today and I'm pretty disappointed with it
April 19, 2015
II ordered this square because my grey Empire is hard to read in low light. This one arrived today and I'm pretty disappointed with it. It feels a little cheap, but for less than $6 I didn't expect much. The real problem is that the 'ears' at the pivot are rounded off. I often use the square to transfer lines around corners on posts, studs, etc. I'll try to exlain what's wrong. The piece of metal that creates the lip you put against the edge of the workpiece is the problem. At the pivot point, this piece creates an edge, when the flat part of the square is on a surface, that goes around the corner. when transfering lines around corners I put the long edge of the square on my mark or line, and use the lip or spine to dray a mark around the corner.Trouble is that on this square the end of the lip piece is rounded off causing the marks I transfer to be off by almost 1/16". Transfered around 4 corners, this makes for nearly 1 1/4" error. Not acceptable for the level of work I do. I'll be doing the paint trick on my old empire to make it easier to read ant this stanley will end up in a toolbox or given to a kid for a toy.
