Terrific Display!
May 5, 2017
Actually, I wish I could rate this twice, but since I can't, I will rate it for the purpose we bought it, which is as an easily readable bedroom clock rather than as a radio or alarm. But I will explain below how I would rate it if I could rate it twice.FIRST RATING: 5 Stars for the display! We keep the alarm clock across the room so needed a large and easily readable display. We have tried 2 other clocks in the last 60 days (both with blue displays) and they either flooded the room with light on the brightest setting or were too difficult to read on the dimmer settings. This clock is terrific on the brightest setting. The numbers are extremely easy to read across the room at night, but the red numbers do not cast any noticeable light into the room. We love it!SECOND RATING: 3 Stars (or maybe even 2) for the buttons for operating the radio and the alarm clock. I'm very competent with technology, but this is the first alarm clock/radio that I've ever had to read the manual to operate. And I'm guessing that if I don't use the alarm or radio for a couple of months I'll have to dig out the manual to figure them out again. The good news is that there's a lot of functionality here (including presets for the radio stations) but they have simply tried to cram too many functions onto each button. And the labeling on the buttons is nearly worthless. So, why did I rate it 5 stars instead of averaging all of my comments and rating it, maybe a 3? Because for our purpose, simply as a clock that is easily readable across the room and doesn't throw out so much light at night that you feel like you've left the bedroom light on, this is a TERRIFIC clock for that purpose.
Great Clock with AM Radio
March 21, 2017
This a great clock with large numbers. I also like the simplicity of a one touch for the on and off for the radio. In my market we have a 24/7 news station that is AM...so that is a must. The clock did not need setting in my East Coast location. However, I did not attempt to set up the alarm clock, It looks tricky! I had to discard another clock radio because the darned thing was hard to unprogram. Not happening again. Will probably buy for the guest room too.
Great alarm clock
October 27, 2016
This dual alarm clock is great. Works just as advertised, except, I found that it actually has a feature on the alarms that is not advertised; in fact it isn't even mentioned in the owners manual. You can actually set the alarm volume. That's right: No more forgetting that: you had turned the volume off the day before when you got a phone call --Don't really know why you didn't just turn it off...but, oh, well, what's done is done.--OR-- your favorite song (well, O.K. radio show) was on last night and you had it cranked up. After all, for a clock radio, it does have decent sound output. The volume that you set it to (the last setting - after the radio station setting, Can be set to 1-15.) is the volume that you wake to.Un like many of the reviews that I read, the alarm clock is very easy to operate...I understand that some people are Tech, challenged, but, those people that normally have trouble operating stuff such as this have no place leaving bad reviews as to usability--- I found it to be pretty intuitive...However, as to the manual; that is a whole 'nuther story: absolutely useless, other than a few reference charts/lists needed for initial setup. All else is as advertised so I won't waste your time with too long of a review. Very large, clear display--decent radio--stylish look--versatile dual alarm (#1 on mine is set for Mon - Fri only {I don't have to remember to turn it off for the weekend--necessitating that I remember to turn it back on, on Sunday night)***Just one more note: when you set the display dimmer to off, a led (what looks like a power symbol) lights up on the face and stays on. A carefully placed spot of nail polish mostly fixed that--still a little side glow, but, now minimal.I'd definitely recommend this alarm clock to anyone that asks.
Does NOT light up the room!
December 23, 2014
First of all, let me begin by saying that I have NOT attempted yet to use the alarm settings or the radio, so I can't speak to those. One feature that was very important to me in purchasing the clock was that I did not want the number display to light up the room. I am very sensitive to indicators lights and whatnot that are on just about every electronic device these days. I am happy to say that the red numbers are the perfect color to minimize glow when the rest of the lights are out. The fact that the red color is at the low end of the spectrum probably helps in that regard. Colors at the low end of the spectrum are more conducive to restfulness. Due to my sensitivity to even tiny amounts of light in the room where I sleep, I placed the clock in my bedroom where I can't see it directly from where I sleep. I don't notice any glow in the room even when the brightness is set at the highest level. Speaking of brightness levels, the clock has three of them plus off. When the numbers are not lit, the clock still is not completely dark. It still has a small power indicator that is lit in red.The other feature I wanted was the automatic time set. The time zone still needs to be set. Unfortunately, the instructions on the Quick Start Guide were not correct, and this caused some confusion when doing the initial settings. I had to use the more complete User Manual to figure out how to set the time zone. I debated whether to knock the rating down a star for this but decided not to since the clock is functional and meets my requirements so far. There has been some kind of power outage since I set up my clock. Though I was not aware of the outage when it occurred, I knew that it had happened because another appliance in my home lost its time setting. I am happy to say that this clock maintained its time setting perfectly. No additional battery is needed to support this feature. This feature works out of the box.
Nice Radio
October 6, 2013
This radio was purchased specifically as a replacement to a different brand radio which had gone bad. I was looking for a dual alarm, large display clock radio with digital radio stations that I did not have to tune and retune repeatedly. What I got was that and so much more. In addition to those items, I also got a clock radio that sets it's time automatically after a power failure, can adjust the LED brightness 4 levels, and change the time format to 24 hr military time which is important because I am in emergency services. All this and so much more like date and temperature info and for a great low price. I couldn't be more happy with it.
Excellent Clock Radio
August 10, 2013
I bought this Clock Radio for my guest bedroom along with another brand which begins with S and ends with a Y for my bedroom. Guess which one has the better radio? If you guessed the S**Y then you will have guessed wrong! I was very surprised that this Electrohome picked up stations that the other one did not. I put this one in my bedroom and will be returning the other one and purchasing 2 more of these. One for the guest bedroom and another for my workshop. This clock also comes with a couple of extra features that I either overlooked when reading the description here on Amazon or they wasn't listed. The main reason I bought this was for the extra large display so I could see it from across the room.1. This has a temperature function that is pretty neat.2. Comes out of the box with the time & date preset. Has a long life Lithium CR2032 battery for backup.3. Radio will alarm even if electric is off, buzzer only. It will not have a time display, buy hey it still alarms and wakes you up.4. Also has a date function after you press the calender button. For the price it has a great radio, large display numbers and lots of features.Just so you will know that this is a honest review and not from someone that is being paid to say this. I live in the mountains of Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia and I rarely give anything that I buy here on Amazon or anywhere else a review but when something works this well and for the small price that I paid I thought that I would let other people know that they will be pleased with the purchase of this item.Thank you for your timeH. Digital clock radio. Battery backup. Really bright display. Really works. I like it.
June 27, 2017
Wow! Did I ever need this. I suffered along with an old analog clock radio for several years until I finally had had enough and got this one. Wow! What a difference. It is so nice. All digital. All automatic. Battery backup. So nice. It's true, the blue lights light up the whole room. I put my pillow over the thing when I go to bed at night. No big deal. I like it.
But it zipped right to the current time and date when I plugged it in which is a major plus since I hate clocks to fidget with t
June 8, 2017
At first glance I thought it was a cheaply made clock since I had another Emerson clock that's much heavier. But it zipped right to the current time and date when I plugged it in which is a major plus since I hate clocks to fidget with the time. The blue numbers have three settings which is great if the light disturbs your sleep. It also has a USB charger which lets you charge your phone before you go to bed. Really like this clock and the price is right!
A Great Clock Radio if you are on a budget.
January 2, 2017
I really like the Alarm Clock Radio, only complaint I have is with the instructions, they could save just a little more money by printing it just a wee smaller, my goodness, I had to break out my major magnifying glass just to be able to decipher what button to push to get the results I wanted. I really like the Smart Set, a feature that is needed to help you set your clock after a power outage, or when you first set it up. The Numerical display is really large and can be easily seen at night. It has a USB charging port, but the port does not charge very quickly, some of my devices even tell me to use another charging station. All in all, a very nice Clock Radio.
Great clock radio - easy to set up and use!
October 18, 2016
Great radio! Easy to set up including my right time zone. I do not find the blue numbers too bright at all, three different levels. Easy to set the alarms once you read the directions and do it a couple of times. Radio quality good. Came promptly, well packed. I had to return a different brand becuz the buzzer was too soft. This buzzer alarm starts softly but builds and is loud enuf to wake me up. Good clock radio for the money! Very pleased.
Good little clock.
April 6, 2016
I love these clocks, especially their self-setting feature. I had an older version that started getting off by 5 or 6 minutes, and the time zone was all screwed up when they changed the date for daylight savings... so I got this new version. The blue numbers are not too bright or distracting for me, but it is all the way across the room as the numbers are large enough to station the clock further away.I do recall the daylight savings hour changing being at least a few days off, though, but it righted itself eventually!
All the features I wanted!
October 25, 2015
I finally decided to replace the Emerson clock radio I've had for years that is programmed for the old daylight savings dates. This is the only one I found with the features I wanted--mainly to have one alarm time for weekdays and a different time for weekends. The auto setting and auto daylight saving setting is great too. Big bonus for this one, the radio is GOOD. (The radio on my old one is crap.) It is easy to read the clock without my glasses on, but as others have mentioned it is a bit too bright. I will probably put something over the front to dim it a little bit.

Lasted 2 1/2 years
March 22, 2017
We've had this alarm clock for about 2.5 years and used it daily. After about a year, one of the two alarms you can set went out (as in it did nothing if you set it) so we started to using the other one exclusively. Up until last week, all was well, then it just quit working. Not the best quality, but it was relatively inexpensive so I'm not too upset over it.
Very good for the money, but not perfect. Recommended with minor caveats.
December 19, 2016
Good clock radio for the price. The digital radio has up to 10 presets, which is not mentioned in the description. Also not mentioned is that you can select different preset stations for the alarm function, and it does not have to be the same station you last listened to before turning on the alarm, like analog clock radios. Another un-advertised and unexplained feature is that alarm clock settings include volume level. I like the large white display, which I can read without my glasses on, though very near-sighted. The red would have been more subtle, but less readable, so I am happy with the white at a dimmed setting. The station always stays tuned in, unlike low priced analog radios that tend to drift out of tune over time. There are a couple of negatives. First, the instructions are incomplete, though I was able to figure it all out through trial and error. The second is the tinny sound. I would pay a little more for better sound, or a for jack for external speakers.
Nice size Modern looking
July 30, 2016
PROS:Nice sizeModern looking.4 dimming settings (manual controlled) which makes it ideal for those who don't like a bright clock at night, but for those who need to see it in bright daylight. The cord is long and light.Radio reception is good.Once time zone is set no need to reset during DST.Battery backupSleep timerTemperatureCONS:Almost plug and play. You have to find your time zone. It is not intuitive to setup so directions need to be read.2 Alarms -- but again you need to read directions in order to set up.Sometimes the numbers don't display crisp (others have posted photos)Buttons are small and hard to read to do any of the functions.Overall, I like this clock because I can see it easily in bed without glasses and it's not red numbers. I use my smartphone's alarm rather than this clock so I barely use the other functions, but it's nice that they are there. For the money I think it's a good deal. I am pleased. I'll update my post if the display becomes so bad I can't read the time.
Great Clock Radio -not too bright, but the radio is a bit too loud for my tastes.
March 9, 2015
I bought this to replace an "Atomic" US-time broadcast clock radio that was so bright that I couldn't stand any it longer. That old radio was so bright you could literally read a newspaper in the middle of the night by it at the lowest brightness setting. I don't understand why some electronics manufacturers think that people want nightlights on in their bedrooms at night. Maybe because it was an "Atomic Clock" they thought it should be as bright as an atomic bomb going off in your bedroom at night. So I'm picky about light. This radio does a great job of NOT being too bright and that is the main thing I like about it, and why I bought it. I'm happy with that. The Good:*This clock radio has 3 different brightness settings, and I'm using the middle one. Actually there are 4 settings if you include DISPLAY OFF which is what you get with the fourth setting. You can't see it at all even in pitch dark. I suppose there are people who would want this but I'm not that picky about having it dark enough to develop film when I'm sleeping. I just don't want to be able to see every imperfection of the drywall shadowed on the ceiling or be able to read a newspaper by my clock radio in the middle of the night. The red color is very good for being able to see and read the clock but it not throwing light all around the room. I'm very pleased about the light levels. The brightness levels are easily switched between by hitting the snooze button when the alarm is not going off. This is very handy if you want it brighter during the day. It's a simple adjustment, just whack at the snooze button until the level is reached you like at the moment.*The setup is not so bad, although it is still an old-school multi-button mess that isn't something you will be able to just "figure out" as you go by experimenting. Don't throw away the instructions. Keep them nearby as you will probably want to reference them. There are labels on the buttons but they are in 3 different languages and each button does multiple things. That's not so good...*The date & time are pre-set at the factory but for Eastern Time USA. I had to figure out how to switch this via the instructions. It wasn't so bad although IGNORE the "quick start" which tells you to change the time and nothing about setting the time zone first. That will mess everything up. Just use the guide in the main "book" to set the time zone, enable/disable DST, and set up the alarms and the radio channels. Unlike the quick start guide it has each language separated in the book in different sections instead of annoyingly alternating through them which makes things 10x more confusing to read.*There is a replaceable computer (CMOS-2032) battery back-up that will keep the time set almost forever in the event of a power failure and will even alarm (buzzer only) if the power is not back on when the alarm time comes. With the battery backup going and the power on the clock will not lose even a fraction of a second of time. The AC Utility power grid wavelength is stable to a thousandths of a second over the period of a year. This clock is as accurate as the atomic clock (nightlight -see above) that it is replacing in my bedroom. I am impressed. It's actually more accurate as every once in a while the Atomic clock I had would get goofed up and be an hour off for a day or two. I guess my window wasn't facing the right direction. This one will never have that problem. Be sure to set up the DST function correctly, and on the right time zone, so it is active if you want to use it. It can easily be deactivated if they finally get rid of it, or change the dates again for the umpteenth time.*There is a date and even a thermometer setting. I never look at these, although the date does power the DST function. I screwed up and had the DST turned off the other day and had to turn it on. It wasn't too hard at all because I saved the instructions. Follow the yellow brick road on the page. The English is even pretty good. Without them? Fahgattaboutit! The not-so good:*The radio is plenty loud. It's even too loud and a little too "punchy" for my tastes. The volume scale goes from 0-15 and 1 is too loud for me in the morning while 0 makes no sound at all. 15 is loud enough to hear it at the other end of the condo and 1 is loud enough to wake the people upstairs up when it goes off at 5:30AM. I can hear them roll over and get out of bed within seconds of it going off on some mornings. - eek! I have the unit on a small wall shelf halfway across the room and the back-facing speakers shoot right at the drywall and that must conduct sound up the walls and into the unit right above us. I've put a little bit of foam padding behind the clock radio and might even put some tape over the speaker grille so it isn't too loud. I could always turn it up more if the tape muffles it too much. So I've gone from a too-bright light to a too-loud radio. Call me Goldilocks but it seems there is no perfect solution.*This last thing is a minor issue, but when the brightness level isn't at max the individual segments of the display are not always at the same brightness. Some dim a little more than others so the numbers are not "even" in brightness. This can make the display a little weird to read when the lights are on and you have it at lower settings. The numbers sometimes look like alien letters at first glance when the lights are on or the sun is shining through the window on it when it is not at the full-bright setting. It's not a huge deal-breaker. But it can be a little annoying at times.Overall this is a pretty good clock radio, and if you live in a single-family dwelling the volume issue probably isn't as big of a deal for you although you might wake up other folks in the same house if you have thin walls too.If only there was a more linear progression in the volume scale from 0-15 this clock radio would be a 5-star rating.
Good Clock, Easy to See, Not Intuitive To Set Up
January 2, 2015
This was a gift for my wife for Christmas. She wanted an alarm clock with dual alarms, self set, a digital radio, and it had to have red numbers. I found that there were not many out there that fit these requirements exactly. Turns out it is a pretty good unit so far. It did not come with the instruction booklet, despite the box saying it contained them, but they were easily found online. The usage of the unit is a bit odd to get used to, but once you do it a few times, it seems fine. I like the lithium battery for the backup as those seem to last a good long time, and its replaceable. As it is still vacation, the dual alarms haven't had to be used yet, but I did try it to make sure it worked. The radio seems ok, it has an antennae cable sticking out the back, so you have to have it positioned to get some decent signal. It also has station pre-sets, which was interesting and unexpected, though kind of difficult to set and retrieve. It also has a thermocouple cable sticking out the back, so it can tell you what the temp is in the room, that was kind of a neat add on, but perhaps not totally useful. I did like the fact that it can dim the display a bit, as the default display is WAY too bright at night. The size is nice, my wife can actually see the numbers at night without her glasses! I can see it very well across the room at night too if I need to get up. All in all, so far so good.
Like this clock

This has large numbers, great for seniors! Radio was good too. The direction could have been clear, not great direction for a senior.

Great Clock
September 9, 2017
Love that it resets itself.Good size (see dimensions listed on this page).VERY BRIGHT. I don't mean, "Well, it's a little, bright, isn't it, dear." I mean, "Wow! That's bright. You got anything over there to throw over it until morning?" We had to put it face down on the nightstand while we awaited the Dim It Light Dimming Sheets, which we did not order at the same time.Check the "customers also bought" section to get these valuable additions.Easy to set up. 5 star product now that we've addressed the brightness issue.
Does what it needs to do.
July 30, 2016
I like the fact that you do not need to set this clock on set up or after power failures. It does have a battery for power failures which was not mentioned in the description. I needed to read the instructions well to understand the functions of the buttons which have two functions for each button so that was a little confusing. I was worried that the light would be too bright but the high setting is fairly dim and the low setting is quite dim which is what I like. On the dim setting you can not see the time from across the room in the daylight but that does not concern me. The audio quality of the radio speaker is not great but I don't plan to use it except possibly as a wake up alarm so it is fine. All in all I am happy with the purchase.
Easy to use, but too bright
June 11, 2016
Very easy to set , my only complaint is that it is very, very bright, even on low it really lights up the room. I had to put a towel over it to block the light. I WISH, wish, wish someone would make a clock that you can turn OFF the display, make it either voice activated or touch activated light. There are many of us who can't stand any light in the room when we try to sleep.
Great, affordable clock
June 1, 2016
I'm really surprised by the number of poor reviews here. This clock looks great. The blue display has several settings including one that is very dim. It has a usb port on the back for charging other items. As soon as I plugged it in, it automatically set the date and time. The only reason I am deducting one star is that the alarm/radio is not easy to figure out. We put this in our guest room and if someone want to set the alarm, they are going to have to read the instructions. It is not intuitive. It would be nice if they added a couple more buttons for setting the alarm and controlling the radio. Otherwise, this is a great clock radio.
It was easy to figure out how to work the different features ...
March 18, 2016
The physical item itself feels very cheap but it serves it's purpose. It was easy to figure out how to work the different features after reading the directions. I like the fact that you can set a timer for the radio to turn off while you go to sleep. I bought this clock for my son and he wanted to listen to music while he laid down to go to sleep at night. It's perfect to be able to set the timer for the music to turn off after an hour and then the alarm goes off in the morning to wake him up. The option to have 2 alarms is also nice, especially to set one to a radio and one to a buzzer or both to one or the other. The alarm definitely starts out very quiet and eventually gets louder. It's not so startling!
Great quality for a low price
August 28, 2015
The radio was packaged very nicely, setting it up was a little bit difficult but nothing that couldn't get figured out doing it slowly. The radio quality and volume is very respectable, volume level is from 1–16. The digital tuning part is so useful compared to having to guess on the old-fashioned kind like tuning it with a little bar on station. I would recommend this clock to any of my friends if they're looking for a good quality low-price dual alarm/radio clock

Dead after a little over a year :( Updated: resurrected !
March 6, 2017
This clock radio was mostly OK. The directions were a bit difficult to decipher, but I got it set up and learned how to use the "nap" function by trial and error. That was one of a few items not discussed anywhere in the printed directions (I think I found some help on-line). I bought this model primarily for the large digital read-out for my husband; never heard of Electrohome previously. Well, today it's little " brain" chip must have gorked out because I awoke to all digits reading out "8" and every light on the face lit - am., p.m., Alarm 1, Alarm 2, you name it. For $25.00, I expected more than a year out of it. I'm still using my old GE radio alarm clock from college, 36 years later in the guest bedroom for God's sake. I did try putting in a new button battery for the battery back-up, but no dice, it's DOA. So now I need another alarm clock. Going to get a cheap model from my local big box dept. store more than likely. Even the last one of those I got lasted at least 4 or 5 years before the radio tuner gave out. I did like the digital tuner on the Electrohome, by the way. Otherwise, I am not impressed.UPDATE: After reading through some of the one star reviews, I came across a comment on one of them stating what steps Electrohome had outlined to solve my exact problem. So the clock gets 4 stars, but the lack of troubleshooting info in their printed directions brings it down to 3 stars. After all, they know the back up battery is going to fail eventually, so why not include in the directions that COME WITH the clock specific steps to follow if the digital read out "freezes" due to the dead battery?
Nice display; confusing controls
December 22, 2016
I like the big display. It is easy to read from across the room and does not light up the room--which was my main priority. However, the battery backup does not work--even after I changed the battery. And the controls are awful. Fortunately, I didn't buy this as an alarm clock. So I don't have to figure that out. But just programming the time is less intuitive than any other clock I've ever owned. Keep the manual handy.
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
June 22, 2016
The Good: love that I can program it to have separate alarm times for weekdays and weekends, or not on the weekend at all. Fairly good sound, and better radio reception than our old alarm clock. It can also have two separate alarms each day, if desired. Display is nice & big - if you're nearsighted, you'll know how important that is. It also will tell you the temperature! The Bad: Although the directions are fairly easy to follow to set it up the first time, I find it almost impossible to remember the correct buttons to use for the various functions. They're labeled, but sometimes you have to do a long hold on the same button to get another feature. and of course I lost the directions. We keep our clock up high on a shelf in our bathroom, so these teeny mysterious buttons drive me nuts. The Ugly: We haven't had this clock for a full year, and several months ago, I noticed that the numbers are no longer as bright. The digital display has the typical numbers that are actually little lines lit up in various patterns to form the numbers (as in the illustration) - well now, some of those little lines are bright, while others are very dim. Hard to explain, but sometimes, if I don't look carefully, I think it's a different time because the brighter portions stand out much more than the dim. I haven't taken the whole thing down and fiddled with it. I'm sure there's a brightness adjustment - it might just be that if I fiddle with that, it might fix itself. However, I find it irritating that I should even have to think about doing that. All in all, if I had known that this brand might have the problem ours does, I wouldn't have bought it. But, we did, and other than that and the buttons being a bit difficult to master, it's an 'ok' clock radio.
But for the volume controls and the alarm system...a perfect clock radio

I purchased this clock because I wanted digital tuning for the radio, sleep function and alarm. First of all, it comes with an external antenna, which is perfect as we live in the country with spotty reception and this allows me to get the stations I like. Second, the red digital read out can go to the dimmest setting and it does not light up the bedroom. However, the lowest setting for volume is way too loud to listen to as I fall asleep. I fixed that by putting packing tape over all but a small part of the speakers in the back. I ignored reviews that discussed the difficulty of setting the alarm...too bad for me. I just wanted the alarm to go off one day a week and, after it did not wake me up at the set time, I spent hours trying to figure the settings. The manufacture website just has a copy of the manual that came with the clock, so no help there. Any reviews here did not go into technical detail on how they finally got it to work. After doing a half dozen different tries, I discovered that the setting that allows the alarm to go off one day a week, or the 1-1 setting, does not work. When I set it to the 6-7 setting, or Saturday and Sunday, it works perfectly. So if I turn it on Saturday night, it should go off Sunday morning so I won't miss church again! Would I buy it again...perhaps as I am so happy with the reception. If I was not retired and needed to have the alarm set M-F it would be perfect.
Decent enough -- if it lasts for you
May 19, 2015
Update Oct 3, 2016 - After 16 months of use, an extended power outage has managed to kill it. We've had power outages before, though not for 2 hours, and the battery has always kept the settings. With this outage, it is almost as if a surge happened first - though I'm pretty sure it did not - because when power was restored, it has an odd display, like some of the LED lines no longer work. I cannot get any button to do anything, so I can't reset it. I even unplugged it and let it sit a minuter and then plugged it back in, but no change. Since it lasted less than 1.5 years, I'm downgrading my rating from 4 to 3.Nice clock with a large display. I bought this primarily for the digital tuning as I was getting tired of having to constantly re-tune my old one. As some have mentioned, it is a tiny bit complex to get started with it. While the instructions are easy enough to follow, I probably would never have gotten the alarm set without those instructions. The auto time feature was not working on mine - when I set it to my timezone, the time was still many hours off. I'm assuming that feature just didn't get set up on mine at the factory. No major issue since you can easily override the time setting, though I'm not sure if that will negate the auto adjustments for DST.One thing that I really like is that I play my radio pretty loud while getting ready for work, but I like a lower volume for the alarm. On all previous alarm clocks I always had to remember to reset the volume when turning on the alarm at night or I'd be blasted awake the next moring. With this clock, the alarm music volume is one of the remembered settings and it sticks regardless of what the volume is set to when just playing the music. Also, I love the fact that I can set the alarm to work Mon-Fri only. One complaint is that the volume for the buzzer alarm is pretty low and there is no way to adjust it. Additionally, even with three light intensity settings, I would really like to be able to dim the light even more.
Don't waste your time or aggravate yourself...there has to be a simpler model out there. Keep looking!!!
December 30, 2014
Let me begin by saying a simple purchase should be just that...simple. This is a basic alarm clock that has terrible instructions. Pay attention to all the questions posted people...there should not be this much confusion over setting up a simple alarm clock!!! That being said, I'm struggling through trying to make do as the old one this one replaced makes a buzzing noise that I cannot stand. It isn't worth sending this one back in my opinion.I feel like I'm a fairly intelligent individual and have had to refer to answers from other users to figure out some options on this alarm clock and by seeing some of the answers, many of the other people who purchased this product aren't sure what some things mean. My main complaint is the volume option on the alarms. The lowest level we've been able to find is still way too loud and is a rude awakening. I am not a morning person and do not need to be abruptly woken up to loud music. I also don't like an alarm. As mentioned, I'm going to make do with this but would advise other shoppers to pass this one up and keep looking.

its not easy to figure out which time zone you are - ...
July 10, 2017
The clock messes up AM and PM - so watch out when setting your alarm, and when you plug it in, even thought it says that it sets itself - make sure you check what year it says. I unplugged mine yesterday and when I plugged it back in, the clock thought it was 2012. I also find that you have to set your time zone, so without reading through the booklet, its not easy to figure out which time zone you are - unless you set it and just see what time it is after selecting the zone. The one thing with this clock that REALLY makes me miss my old clock is the fact that daylight savings time doesn't just adjust itself - my last clock had that feature - it was great. Oh, and everyone talks about the brightness - even when on dim, IT IS really bright.
It is basically a good alarm clock
May 2, 2017
It is basically a good alarm clock. However, I returned it because we did not like the display. There were 2 major problems for us. First, the dim setting is too dim and the bright setting is too bright at night. But mainly the numbers are too close together horizontally, making it difficult to read across the room at night. This is particularly problematic with the digit that is to the left of the colon, and especially if that number is a "1". It blends in so close to the colon that it is difficult to distinguish the time. We could likely have lived with the display brightness issue, but combined with the close spacing of the numbers, it just didn't work for us.
I have an older version of this that I loved. I love that it resets itself
September 29, 2016
I have an older version of this that I loved. I love that it resets itself, has a battery back up and has two different alarm settings. However, the buttons started sticking and I thought it was time to upgrade. I wanted one just the same. I'm seriously thinking about using my old one again. This is fine, it works, I'm just not a fan. The blue light is bright! I have it on the lowest setting and it lights up my entire bedroom. If it's facing you, which is the point of a clock to me, it shines really bright in your eyes. In the daylight, you can barely see it though. The buttons are ok, but the one to turn off the alarm is too small and in a weird place. I fumble with it every morning and I've had it for a while now. It's awkward trying to set it because the two buttons are right beside each other. It works, but I wish they didn't have to change it entirely from the older version.
Some nice features but difficult to use
December 19, 2015
I like this clock for my purpose. I wanted a dim green display for the bedroom where my wife does not like any light when sleeping. I gave this three stars because I would not be too happy with it otherwise. It does have some nice features such as the time is retained in a power outage and you can set the alarm for Mon- Friday only, or a second for Sat & Sunday only. But my two negative issues: 1. The display is not bright, even on high or bright it can barely be read in a well lit room. On the dim setting it can only be read in a in a pretty dark room. (again this was a plus for my special situation, but most people probably won’t like it). 2. The controls are anything but easy to use. They are not intuitive at all. I am a retired engineer who builds computers and it took me 5 to 10 minutes with the poorly written instructions to figure out how to use it. I have stayed in many motels and always use the little alarm clocks and never had an issue setting the time or alarm on any small clock radio until I encountered this one. As it is, the buttons on the top each serve dual or triple functions and not clearly labeled. The first time I quickly tried to set the alarm at bed time without the instructions, I gave up after several minutes of fiddling around and used my smart phone alarm instead. In order to set the alarm for a simple wake up the next morning I had to read the instructions and also do some trial and error, because the instructions are not clear. Don’t even think about this clock for motel rooms, a guest bedroom, grandma, or anyone not tech savvy if you expect them to set the alarm. For one user like me, once you figure it out it isn’t bad. But even for me, since I am retired and only set the alarm on occasion, I will keep the instructions nearby.
LIGHT IS VERY BRIGHT
October 23, 2015
Just got this clock yesterday... so far it seems to be o.k. The size is good. The only really bad thing is that oh my gosh, the light is bright even on dim. I had to put a towel over it for the night. Its way too bright for a clock for a bedroom. IF I can find something to cover the light - maybe some kind of film to put over the clock, I will keep it otherwise, this clock might be heading back to be returned.I like the way the clock sets itself for the time in case of power outage (or if you unplug the clock for some reason), its easy to set, etc.I would send this back but I've already spent an additional $8 on dimming sheets and would have to pay another $7 for shipping.I have 2 layers of dimming sheets and its still too bright!
This company has put out much better products in the past
November 9, 2014
This company has put out much better products in the past. I purchased this because my long time smart set alarm had stopped working after many, many years. I wanted one just like it but discovered they no longer made clocks that even remotely looked the same. Since I wanted another clock that reset itself when the time shifts forwards or backwards, I went ahead and purchased this. It is a very light weight plastic clock. Not much quality to it. I went ahead and got this one even though others had complained about the brightness of the blue light. They were right, it was way too bright for me to be able to sleep with it in the same room, it completely lit up the room. I tried for two nights and couldn't take it any longer so I moved it into the family room where I needed a glow in the dark clock and it works good in there. I ended up buying an older clock similar to the one I had off of ebay. That one had a dimmer switch for the clock light that this one is missing.

went through the setup again and all seemed fine. And it was for a while
January 29, 2017
[Update] The reseller put me in touch with the manufacturer. They RMAed my unit and replaced with a new one. I had to pay shipping back to the company which was not great. The tech I spoke to confirmed this does not set the time automatically, rather it is pre-set from the factory. Not worth it. I'll keep using this until I either find something better or it breaks again.------------------------------------------------I purchased the red one several months ago. I was surprised the setup was so complicated for a device advertised as automatic. The next day the clock had locked up. I unplugged it and pulled the battery, went through the setup again and all seemed fine. And it was for a while. Today it locked up again and I unplugged it, pulled the battery and wen through the overly complex setup again. Which was when I realized something.I had to pull the manual down from the internet, and the buttons didn't match. I purchased an automatic setup alarm clock and mine is a manual model, which is why the setup had so many steps. I should have noticed before this. I think some of the bad reviews might be the same issue.I'm going to contact the seller, and Amazon, and see if we can work something out. Check you volume buttons, it looks like the picture on Amazon is the manual clock, with the volume buttons on the back. The manual says the volume buttons are on top for the automatic. I could be wrong, there could be more models, the manual could be old, or wrong.
Poor design
October 8, 2016
An okay alarm clock if you're looking for *really* large digits. Note that the picture is not really accurate: the digits are larger in relation to the actual device size, which makes the ratio far less harmonic -- to my eye at least: the whole thing looks like somebody glued a bunch of overly large digits to a surface. Some reviewers here complained about the complicated handling, and I agree -- though I figured out most of the functions without consulting the manual. That notwithstanding, this clock has hands down one of the WORST user interfaces I have ever seen. If you need to include a big yellow card with the box reading "Contact tech support before you return this product" (I'm not making this up!), then clearly something has gone horribly wrong. The handling feels awkward, button-heavy, counter-intuitive at times, overly convoluted while at the same time arbitrary restrictive. For instance, instead of a volume wheel or a rocker, there are two buttons on the back. Using these, you can cycle through only 7 volume settings, where the lowest one was already too loud for me. This is a showstopper -- and a completely unnecessary one on top of it: I'm sure the internal speaker can handle any volume just fine!
Didn't know you could make an alarm clock this unintuitive...
March 13, 2016
I just need a nice big visible clock with an alarm reliable enough to be my back up in case I sleep through my main alarm. This alarm clock tries to go above and beyond but definitely falls short. Way too many stupid bells and whistles, multiple functions packed into single small buttons with labels that are ambiguous at best, and it just acts really weird to boot; for instance there are a few settings that I can change that are not mentioned in the manual and don't seem to actually do anything. This would all be fine if the alarm did what it's supposed to. But it doesn't. For weeks I thought I was sleeping through it or turning it off in my sleep or something because it would only go off once in a while. Trying to figure out why is a nightmare because none of the buttons make any sense. There's a button labelled SET and NAP and it has nothing to do with setting the alarm, or the clock, or snoozing, and I've pressed it so many times hoping it does something useful, but alas.Another example is that when you set an alarm, after you input the time you'd like to wake up, you are given this set of choices:1-11-51-76-7Trying to figure out what those numbers could possibly mean should give you an idea of how dumb this thing is. I admit that once you know what those choices are it makes sense, and it should have solved my problem, but it didn't. The thing still decides on its own when to go off and I have no idea how to change that. And when it DOES go off the buzz is short, quiet and staccato, and not at all similar to the standard alarm sound I'm used to waking up to. Worth mentioning that the clock part works fine and looks good, it's really just not at all what I was looking for in an *alarm* clock.TL;DR - This clock is an exercise in frustration. But hey, the LEDs look nice.
Worst Alarm Clock Ever!!!
March 10, 2016
The description is inaccurate and incomplete, this product does not work the way it was advertised! There is no volume control for the alarm, the alarm is soft and does not increase in volume over time. When the radio is selected as the alarm again there is no volume control as the alarm. You can turn off thealarm and turn on the radio and adjust the volume. The radio volume at level 1 is too loud for a soft night timesleeping. The settings are complicated and way to many option that are really needed (M-Sun, M-F, Sat -Sun)The two different alarms are set by pressing the button once and then holding it or pressing it several times forBuzz or radio. This also has 6 different preset radio channels. The radio volume controls are on the back, they are very small buttons. Over all the buttons are small and hard to push, hurting your fingers. This clockis a complete waste of your TIME, Don't Buy !!!! This is a puzzle that you don't need!!!!
It's a nice looking clock but good grief people - simplify
January 4, 2016
There is something that I like about this clock & that is the large white display. But that is not enough to convince me to keep it. It is ridiculously hard to set up! After multiple tries to get it to set the indoor temperature to read in Fahrenheit I gave up. And I couldn't figure out how to get the temperature to display anyway - either in C or in F! I used both the Quick Set-up Guide and the full instruction book & still couldn't figure it out. And I don't mean just the temperature either....I mean, the dimness control for the time display; changing the station on the radio - pretty much everything! It's a nice looking clock but good grief people - simplify the set-up! It's an alarm clock for heaven's sake!!
Buttons too small
January 2, 2016
I currently have a GE clock radio but it's not digital. I bought this with great expectations but was disappointed. First, the buttons are too small. When the alarm goes off, you want to be able to manipulate the buttons without looking. These buttons have multiple functions and not dedicated to a single function like my QE. Second, the volume doesn't go down low enough. I like to go to bed and barely be able to hear the radio as I go to sleep. Third and lastly, the presets. I like to set 3 presets and not have to go through all the presets I didn't set to get to them. These may be minor details to some but we all have our preferences and these are mine.

Shopping for a new clock radio
September 20, 2017
Here I am, shopping for a new bedside clock radio less than six months after purchasing this. When I first unboxed it, I noticed two things immediately. First, the controls on top were virtually impossible to see for someone without the best vision. All the labels are molded into the black plastic which makes them nearly impossible to see in a bedroom without super lighting. Second, the sound was real tinny. but it is a small cheap, radio so I guess speakers add hugely to the cost.Which brings me to today: the sound of the music now fades quickly. I turn it off, turn it back on, it plays at the full volume I set it at, then fades. If I touch the plastic of the radio body... the sound fades in and out! If I run my hand over the body, the sound comes and goes with the movement of my hand. I did r/r the AC cord, which seems to have restored functioning a bit, but now I don't trust it.Save your $10 and get a $20 radio!
I have given this clock 2 months now, and ...
February 8, 2017
I have given this clock 2 months now, and have read the instructions probably 15 times. (You almost need an advanced degree to understand them). I bought the clock because the "sleep" button on my old clock is impossible to push. The sleep button on this clock is part of the snooze button, making it almost impossible to use while you're half asleep. I fear having to change my time of wake up, and will often use my old clock (my husband refuses to use this one so the old one is still in our room). On two occasions I have turned the alarm off, only to have it go off again 9 minutes later. I so regret buying this clock, and have gone back to my old clock, even though you have to hold the sleep button down really hard to get it to reset.
Readout keeps disappearing
January 31, 2017
The screen keeps going blank on this clock The numbers just randomly disappear. When I hit the snooze button, the clock resets itself and the numbers come back. Go figure. But if the numbers go out in the middle of the night, the alarm is not going to go off. I don't recommend this clock. I'm tired of cheap junk made overseas in sweatshops.Update: The gradual alarm function, which is the reason I bought this thing, has quit working. It now comes on at max volume, making you jump out of bed.
I HATE when the alarm goes off
January 24, 2017
This clock had SO much potential. I HATE when the alarm goes off. The volume for the alarm is not adjustable and it blares the radio. This is not how I want to wake up. The separate weekday/ weekend alarms are great, the auto daylight savings time adjustments are great, just make it wher the alarm volume can be adjusted!
Very annoying to have to consult the printed instructions each time
December 12, 2016
Very tinny radio sound! Extremely complicated system of setup, both for radio and buzzer alarms. Very annoying to have to consult the printed instructions each time, to reset alarms, etc. Also, the printed instructions are very difficult to read! The best thing about this clock-radio is the size of the display, but even that is just TOO BIG! I bought two of these, for two homes, and won't return them because it's too much of a hassle --- but I do NOT recommend this brand of clock-radio! Maybe I'm just spoiled; I've had a SONY cube next to my bed for many years, and I loved it.
Disappointed
March 25, 2016
Very disappointed with it. The light from the clock was very bright even on dim. Would be good for a nightlight. Also there is no way to turn the alarms off completely. I work 2nd shift and do not need an alarm very often but want to be able to turn it off if need be. What ais a person to do when on vacation? I sure don't want the alarm going off. It was sent back and I ordered a different one. The return policy is very clear and easy to do so was glad for that.

Ummmmmm..... NO! Almost worthless purchase!
March 13, 2017
We bought the white one. Primarily, we wanted the digital radio tuner so we could listen to our favorite station while we slept. We didn't think about the alarm, since most clock radios have fairly decent alarm sounds that will wake a heavy sleeper. But the alarm volume on the one we got is so quiet that my husband and I sleep through it. We can't find a volume control on the alarm to make it loud enough to wake at least one of us. We had to keep our older clock radio for the alarm. We're very disappointed. We are purchasing another of a different brand (that specifically states the alarm volume is adjustable). My husband will use this one in his wood shop for the visibility and the radio. The radio sound is a little tinny, even at this price.
Piece of junk
August 26, 2016
It never fails to amaze me how cheaply made today's products can be. This is an example. I've had it 4 months and the display is now unevenly lit and fluctuates in intensity -- truly annoying at night. For people who plan to have this facing them while in bed, be forewarned that the "dimmest" setting on the display is still very bright -- think flashlight in your face. Because the display defect occurred beyond the 30-day return deadline, Electrohome is requiring I ship it AT MY EXPENSE back to them to determine repair or replacement under the 1-year warranty. I've determined this would be nearly half the cost of the unit, so forget it. Giving it away. Avoiding Electrohome products forever.Update: After complaining to Electrohome, they sent me a free shipping label to return the item. Apparently, they chose not to repair, as I received a new one (after...3 weeks, at least), with no notice as to why. Putting in a spare room, as I don't want it in our bedroom. Not changing my 1-star rating unless it can last a whole year w/o problems.
2nd time is NOT a charm!
January 19, 2016
UPDATE #2 (5/24/16): Shortly after posting my update the clock broke AGAIN! Just like the first one did. I really want to like this clock but this is ridiculous!UPDATE: After finding nothing that met my needs, I decided to give this clock a 2nd chance and ordered it again. This one works fine. I really love the fact that I can dim the display to my preference. I do not like light shining while I am sleeping so I turn it completely off. The little power indicator does still shine dimly but I put a small piece of tape over that area. The two alarms work just fine. Yes, the instructions are somewhat complicated but not too difficult. Others have also complained about the small buttons on top but this has not been a problem for me. I usually have no problem remembering which one to push for what I need. Hopefully, it will last a good long time.I started out really happy about this clock. It has a large, bright display with4 levels of brightness. You can even turn the display off which is good if you need darkness to sleep. It has dual alarms which still work while the display is off. You can preset your favorite radio stations. It was just about perfect - until a day later when it stopped working. The display locked up with and all of the buttons stopped working. The picture shows the clock with the locked up display. I even tried to unplug it hoping that would reset it but no luck. When I plugged it back in, it was still locked up. Returned it.
Piece of junk
March 7, 2015
I bought this clock in November; it is now the beginning of March. That's how long this clock lasted -- barely four months. I was going to bed when I noticed it was lit up like a Christmas tree -- the time was 28:88! Interesting. There's a one-year warranty but I didn't keep the original packaging (required). This was just the icing on the cake. The buzzer was too quiet and did not wake me up half of the time. The controls were complicated and required referring to the consumer guide several times over the first days. There was one setting I never could figure out what it was -- it was a random number (1-14) in the sequence to set up the alarm. I assumed it was the volume control for the radio, as it did not appear when the alarm was set for the buzzer. There was a setting that only let the buzzer go off on Mon-Fri. This sounded good to me. Too back it didn't seem to want to work on Wednesdays. All in all, a very disappointing purchase.
Would not recommend.

Don't usually write reviews but this clock worked for 2 days then broke. Hard to set up, instructions are hard to follow. Would not recommend.
Zero starts
June 22, 2014
I bought this clock to replace my trusty old Emerson alarm clock that I bought in the '80s. I've had this one for two months and now it doesn't work. The numbers come on intermittently, whenever they want. Tried to return it but it is outside the 30 day return window so I'm out my money. So disappointed.

0 for 2 - high hopes dashed
May 22, 2017
I was replacing a very old radio alarm clock and had high hopes. The first one I received the radio tuner was working only 30% of the time. I figured I'd exchange it for a replacement and all would be well. The second one I received the radio tuner was just as bad, and the "AM" indicator wasn't working so I couldn't tell if it was AM or PM when I set the alarm. The instructions are well written and very clear. There is supposed to be an "AM" indicator but nothing for "PM", which is fine as long as you realize this which I did and it worked on the first one but not the second. I loved the size, functionality that was advertised, the dimmer worked great. Very disappointing quality; I had to return this and as my first "Emerson" brand purchase this may also be my last.
A complete dud
April 12, 2017
The A.C. Power does not work. The unit would only work with the battery but will only power the clock for a few days. It's too expensive to send back, so into the recycle bin it goes.
Hope your clock doesn't malfunction...
December 5, 2016
When I first purchased this clock, I thought it was great. Easy to use and understand... but then, after 1 month... it's insides went BOOM! I noticed that the display was screwy so I unplugged the clock and plugged it back in. After plugging it back in, the display simply didn't come back on. The clock just stopped working. So I got my warranty out only to find that I would have to pay (at my cost) to send the clock back to Emerson plus include a check in the amount of $10. What a ridiculous warranty. It would cost me roughly the cost of a new clock to have it replaced under their warranty.. Shame on you Emerson for stating you have a warranty when in reality, you simply make the consumer purchase another one of your clocks. This is the last Emerson product I will ever own. Buyer beware!!!
Here's what I like, it automatically sets the time
November 18, 2016
I have gone through 2 of these clocks in the last 6-8 months. Here's what I like, it automatically sets the time, there are options to turn the alarm on for week or/and weekend so you can set your week. Here's where they lost me. I had to buy the tinting film and had to put 2 pieces over the bright blue light, which means at night I can see it but during the day I can't, which isn't make or break for me. But the power cord on both items don't seem to work. The first clock I had it only worked for 2 weeks, this one just went out and is plugged in. My guess is that's why they send this replacement with a battery already put in. The alarm goes from loud for the first 4 seconds to wake up the whole household if you don't respond to hitting the button in those 4 seconds. Overall very unenthused about this companies quality.
Believe the bad reviews; do NOT buy!
May 10, 2016
This clock just died, barely 16 months after we bought it. Specifically, because it sets it self from a wireless source (atomic clock) it decided that the year was 2012 and we lived in a completely different time zone. There is no way to override this. You cannot manually set the time. As previous reviewers have said, the brightest setting is very dim. We could read it at night, but could not read it in the morning or during the day.We have a previous model that I wanted to purchase again (CKS1702) but it is no longer available. This model is great and still running strong. It is a shame this one is no longer available.
where's the window?
December 26, 2015
I really didn't like this thing...it's non-intuitive and therefore difficult to learn how to use. I DID like the low light LED since I hate how bright they are. I also liked that it would reset its time, until it wouldn't anymore and had to be manually reset. After finally setting its radio channels, it "forgot" them too when accidentally unplugged. At one point, it got me so frustrated I contemplated tossing it out of my window. But I didn't. It's still here, bothering me every time I look at it.
