Great temperature gauge
May 8, 2017
Great, large numbers and it post daily high and lows. Easy to install. Would be nice if could be read at night.
Almost perfect.
February 20, 2017
I'm using this to replace a remote thermometer I used for years. Very happy with it. Would have preferred suction cups to the adhesive. I applied it crooked and I'm afraid to move it. I like the min and max temp.
Super high quality
June 9, 2016
Super high quality. Hard to move once you stick it on, so chose you location wisely. Do keep it out of the sun if you want accurate readings.
Very accurate
May 16, 2016
I bought two, I liked it so much. Here's a few things to keep in mind, though:Clean the window with alcohol first so it will stick. The display fades at night. The display fades if viewed at an angle, so mount it so you can look at it directly. If it's in the sun or even close to sunlight, the temperature will read much too high for hours afterwards.Other than that, I love it and check the temperature several times daily. The two units agree well.
Baby, it's cold outside, and you will know exactly how cold...
August 18, 2014
This is the second unit we have owned. I think the first one was about 5-7 years ago. The thermometer is placed on the patio deck, just outside the dining table, so at breakfast, we can just glance up and see the temp. When the first unit broke/died whatever, we replaced it with a regular stick thermometer for about $8. We then realized the superiority of the WS-1025 - you can easily see the temp as the display is very large. The stick thermometer required body positioning, squinting, linear extrapolation and a good guess to read the exact temp.We live in Washington state - temperate by some standards, but where we live plan on 70-ish in the summer and low 40's in the winter. Not as extreme as other parts of the country, but we still want to know when it is cold outside (rarely do we hit 90 degrees). It attached to our patio railing glass via 3M (not some cheap wannabee brand), and even through some pretty good winter storms, the thermometer remained faithful and diligent to its' task - reporting the temperature without someone having to constantly adjust or re-position the unit. The temperature readout came in handy after my hip was replaced My Hip Replacement Surgery: What To Expect: 400+ 'Hip Tips,' Ideas, Examples, Suggestions and Checklists and I needed to be sure that my outside rehab would be just like Goldilocks, not to hot, not cold.It has a little feature where you set the time (why, you ask?). The time is set because it shows the temperature range for the last 24 hours as well as the current temp.Hmm, the last time I was so impacted with a thermometer, I was probably about two years old, and my body temperature was taken withOUT using the oral thermometer method. This is a great, cheap for the price, highly functional thermometer with a long lasting battery. If/when this one every dies, we will buy another.
How cold was it?
December 6, 2009
I bought this same thermometer for myself at an Eddie Bower store while on vacation a couple of years ago. It doesn't get very cold here in Hawaii by many peoples' standards but when it gets into the 60's at night without internal heating it is pretty chilly. I have found that standard thermometers don't give very accurate readings and if you want to know how cold it was... how will you know without staying up all night? So to the review. I stuck this thermometer to an outside window out of direct sunlight with the 2-sided tape provided. I can read from inside what the current temperature is as well as the highest and lowest were within the past 24 hours. When I saw them on Amazon I bought 2 more to give as gifts. KY

Great in greenhouse
October 16, 2016
I have this in my greenhouse and it is doing a great job of telling me the min/max temps. Easy to read, easy to setup. I would give 5 stars if it came with a base, not just the tape for window mounting. If you are planning on a window mount I would make sure it is protected from rain as it is not water tight.
Great, recommend to everyone
September 30, 2016
I love it, but finding the right window to attach it to first time is iffy. I put it up, and had to reattach it esewhere thru the glue wasn't good enough to hold it thus one day it was on the ground. I had to buy another one, now it works perfectly. Would recommend the manufacturer include a second set of sticky-tapes for us that make a mistake first pass or tell us where to buy the tape.
Large, easy to read numbers!!
September 9, 2016
We have ours outside the kitchen window and the number is nice and large so it's easy to read at a distance. It can be a little tricky to read at an angle but if you're looking directly at it, it's as clear as the picture shows. Ours isn't in direct sunlight as well it's in a screened in porch area so I can't comment on how it might be reading it in direct sunlight.
Wonderful product, just have screwdriver ready
December 5, 2012
In short, a great product, works well, numbers are big and easily seen from indoors at a distance. The reason for the 4 star review is that the good people at LaCrosse felt the need to include a screw [and hence, require a screwdriver] on the battery cover. For one AAA battery, which is included. A simple plastic push tab like every other electronics piece on the planet would have sufficed, and one less part! LaCrosse, redesign this so you don't need to find a tool to change a battery and you have a perfect product.
Works well, but be aware is Celsius-only
June 1, 2010
The product works well, and in general I am pleased with it. However, I did not realize that this particular model displays ONLY in Celsius - there is no way to switch between Celsius and Farenheit. If you want a Farenheit display you must buy the other WS-1025 model (without the -CEL suffix). It's a little misleading in that the manual and all the box illos are identical for both models (they all show the device as reading in Farenheit). I can approximate the conversion in my head, and it's my fault for not doing more research before buying, but I thought I'd put this review in to keep others from being tripped up.
temperature transparency
October 30, 2006
This is a really classy thermometer meant to be mounted outside on a window. Its self-reset of min/max temp every 24 hours is good and bad. I would have liked to be able to control the period. I use it in a protected environment at work. Another unit I gave as a gift and it lasted six months outside - moisture intrusion and corrosion killed it. It is vulnerable so decide before you buy where you would like a very big thermometer. Good gift.

Functional, but a little too complex
March 25, 2015
Seems to work Ok. Wish it had a mechanism to keep the min and max temperatures posted until cleared, rather than resetting them every day. The unit is a little complex to set up and program
Not sure if it's calibrated
March 16, 2014
The temperature seems to read lower than the actual outside temperature. I will have to read online if here is a way to calibrate the unit.I installed it on the outside glass of a sliding door and it's adhesive held fine. Just be careful to place it far enough over so the door can be nearly fully opened without hitting the device.
Nice display, but can't see it in the dark
January 16, 2014
A couple of things about this that I liked was that it's really easy to install...just take the sticky strip off and stick it. In our case, to a sliding glass door facing the west. We tend to get up early, however, and it's still dark, and when it's dark at night as well you can't see this display at all, as it's black and much be viewed with a flashlight. And if I had to do it again, I would use more care as to where I installed it, since now that the sun has migrated to lower in the western sky it ends up, in the late afternoon, shining right now it and of course when it does that it completely destroys its accuracy. I'd be just about perfect if it had a little illumination of some kind built in.
It's Okay
February 3, 2013
I have been finding it difficult to find a quality outdoor thermometer, that didn't just quit being accurate after one year. Did all the good thermometers disappear with mercury thermometers? So, I thought this might work, but two things happened. Placing it on the outside of the kitchen thermometer, on the north side of the house, I pressed it in tight, using the self adhesive supplied. Within two days, most of the adhesive had failed, and it was hanging by one 'thread'. Now I have to find a two-sided adhesive. The second thing is that during the day, it's very easy to read, but at night, with indoor window light, it's nearly impossible to read, probably due to the reflection of light having to pass through too many reflective surfaces.
Nice but has flaws
September 25, 2010
I like these LaCrosse outdoor thermometers. The numbers are big enough to read from accross the room and they have a modern look to them. They also seem to be very precise. I have two of them on our house. They do seem to have a design flaw though and I have gone through 4 of them in the last 3 years. They are suceptable to moisture penetration and tend to fail when wind driven water gets into them causing the display to go blank. This is often an irreversable condition. This condition is aggravated when the weather is cold enough to freeze. The life of the instument is only about 12 - 18 months; the instrument usually going bad before the battery life is used up.
Great when it worked, not really weatherproof...
February 29, 2008
I have owned 3 of these. They all broke the same way. I put them on the outside of a window between the screen and the outside of the window. It works really well.I had no problem with the accuracy of the unit although it must be placed in a spot not in direct or even indirect sunlight. The sun can produce error factors of 10 to even over 20 degrees higher than the actual temperature. What killed each of the units was rain. Even the little bit of rain that gets into a window thru the screen in a particularly bad storm will make some of the LCD's non functional. This leaves you with cryptic digits. It's ugly and not really functional. I actually went to the trouble of returning one to LaCrosse. They sent me a replacement, but the same thing happened to the replacement.I am now tempted to buy another one as I just think it looks really cool in the window, and when they worked, they were very functional, cool looking and unusual. But if you buy it, keep it dry!

Same problem after a couple of years' use.
May 29, 2017
This is the 2nd or third same La Crosse window thermometer I have ordered and in every case, the LED starts to fade. I replace the battery with a new duracell and it still doesn't solve the problem. Not a satisfactory product.
I may just be me, but I couldn't get ...
March 7, 2017
I may just be me, but I couldn't get it to stay on the window no matter what I did. I continuously found it on the concrete until it broke.
Reads low during this hot weather so far.
August 14, 2016
I had a Wind & Weather just like this for the past few years and it just quit so thought I would try this brand. This one works so far for 3 days, but it reads 5 to 6 degrees below what my other two regular thermometers read. The Wind & Weather was right with those two at all times. Could be the fact that it tapes right to the window instead of sitting out some as the other one did. It has been very hot so the AC is on a lot. I do have double windows so it shouldn't effect it that much, but maybe that is the problem. I just bought another Wind & Weather and will put it right beside this one to see if they agree. Put the new Wind & Weather up beside the Lacrosse on my window and they do not agree. The Wind & Weather is agreeing with both my other thermometers. I also put the Lacross beside my home thermostat and it reads low there as well. So, in summary, the Lacrosse works fine, but reads from 4 to 6 degrees below all others around my house. I just ordered two more Wind & Weather.
The thermometer itself is fine, but it would not stick to the window
July 22, 2015
The thermometer itself is fine, but it would not stick to the window, and the glue pulled off of the thermometer about 3 weeks after I bought it. Do not plan to adhere it to a window, or anything else. I would not have bought it had I known this.
Visible, unobtrusive, useful.
January 22, 2014
** Updated after 1 year **This OUTDOOR product can't handle any water, or even high humidity. When it gets damp, the display stops functioning. I can bring it inside, pull the battery, wait for it to dry, and things work fine again. When the rain angle is "just right" or at times when the glass picks up condensation, it stops the unit from being useful. Would absolutely NOT recommend!!![original review]Bought one of these from another online vendor about three years ago, and liked it a lot. That one is still perfect, but it's on the kitchen window of a house in another state. So I just bought another to use where I am now.The display is pretty visible, except at night - but with some ambient light on the front surface it's usable. If you've got a "clean" background, you can forego the frosted plastic "backer" plate. Even with it, the view out is hardly interrupted.Having max & min temps (that automatically reset ... if you set the time correctly it'll do basically what you want it to) is nice, especially if you're a late riser like I often am. Knowing I slept through near-freezing temps makes justifying laziness easier. :) I also like it a sanity check for internet-reported "local" temperature data. The mount is reasonably secure, but it is definitely not theft proof. The durability of mine has been satisfactory. The old one is mounted in a window that opens onto a screened porch, so it's not directly exposed to either sun or rain. The one I just bought will be on a window that occasionally sees both, and my second location gets a lot more cold weather but still nothing extreme. (last snow here was like 20 years ago) I don't foresee any trouble, but will update if that changes.Personally I couldn't deal with the "LA CROSSE" branding on the visible surface of the mount, so I made a label to cover it. Problem solved.
Max-Min feature is flawed
December 8, 2008
I bought a couple of these to use indoors to monitor temperature differences around the house. They work fairly well for that but I can't speak to how well they would work stuck to the outside of a window as intended.Regardless of use, the max-min function is a joke. The memory automatically resets every 24 hours, which is OK, but the max and min reset 12 hours apart [really!] so it is impossible to have a record of the high and low over the course of a day.The unit also displays higher precision than it should. The display reads in tenths of degrees but the accuracy is rated at ±1.8°F. Thus the display could read 67.2 while the actual temperature could be anywhere from 65.4 up to 69°. With no greater accuracy than this, the display should show only whole degrees as tenths are meaningless. Finally, the low-temp limit is -13°F so it won't work very well in winter unless you are in a mild climate.

This unit is useless at night. When it's dark outside, the numbers are pretty much invisible. ALSO -- at the first windyrain storm, it popped right off the window Very poor design. Don't waste your money.
Very inaccurate
September 8, 2016
The short review is this is wildly inaccurate. The longer version is that I have 3 other thermometers and the AC unit digital one on the wall. With all of them next to each other for 5 days, the other three show the same temperature within about 0.5 degrees of each other. This one shows 5 degrees cooler, consistently. Yes, it is showing 69 degrees right now when the others show 74-75. (And if it was 69 degrees in here when it is ~90 degrees outside, we'd be in sweaters.)While the design looks nice and the features are nice, it isn't much use if it is so inaccurate.
I like the size
July 10, 2016
I have several inexpensive thermometers in my home. Some are mercury and some are digital. They consistently show temperature within 1 degree of each other. The Lacrosse WS-1025 shows 5 degrees below the actual temperature! The instructions show an accuracy of plus or minus 1.8 degrees. I don't mind some variation but this is certainly not reliable.I like the size, the min and max feature and the design. But the main function can not be relied upon for a reasonably accurate reading. The other thermometers and a weather station that I purchased from Amazon perform to a much higher standard.
Que sera sera!
January 20, 2016
Did not work from the get go. Removed the battery seal and the screen began reading in strange tongues. Figures, symbols, images, all resembling something from an alien ship in Star Trek. First, I was so angry I wanted to smash it against the wall-then I saw the humor and laughed as I packed it up, and applied for the return credit and shipping label. Within hours of getting it. it was on the way back. Now, my son has had one for several years that works just fine. So I suppose you pays your money and you takes your chances. That's why I like Amazon. They know that what's made in China is "up in the air". If you get a good guy on a good day you get a ggod product. If you get a shmuck having a bad day, you get a dud. I bought a cheaper one (from Amazon) that just has the current temp and sticks to the window with a suction cup and is cheaper. It's working like Big Ben. No complaints. Go figure.
Thermometer Always Displays 82.8 Degrees, EXACTLY as Shown on Amazon.
July 9, 2015
This is the PERFECT thermometer if you live in a place where the temperature is ALWAYS 82.8 Degrees Fahrenheit. IF such a place exists, I’m not sure why you would need a thermometer, but 82.8 is the only temperature this thermometer displays. I tried new batteries and the result was the same. The thermometer display is very clear and easily readable WHEN it is upside down, BUT as soon as the thermometer is turned right side up (I mounted it for a couple hours to see if the temp. would change), the display is ANYTHING but clear. On three separate occasions I tried to contact La Crosse customer service to find out what I was doing wrong; however, after extended lengths of time on hold (I was working, so I just put them on speaker phone), the La Crosse phone system hung up on me.NO PROBLEM: Amazon takes care of returns, so I sent it back!
Warranty = product: both lousy
July 18, 2013
This thermometer lasted about nine months before the LCD bled out, resulting in a black blob instead of numerals. I emailed customer service and they responded a few days later with this obtuse denial of any responsibility: "Unfortunately, there are no corrective measures that can be advised. Also this would, unfortunately, not be covered under warranty as such damage as described is not covered." Translation: this damage is not covered because it's not covered. Brilliant. How difficult would it be to cite the warranty exclusion that takes it out of coverage? But, more importantly, why shouldn't this be covered? The product clearly did not perform as intended during the warranty period. It's a nice design, but poorly executed by a company that has no interest in customer service or retention.
