Five Star Reviews: | 69% Looks good, does its job! January 10, 2017 This thermometer is lovely. I got it in the satin/brushed nickel finish to match my outside hardware and it looks pretty high quality. You get alot for the moderate price! Great December Decision!!! December 7, 2016 We have wanted to purchase an outdoor thermometer ever since we moved back to the Central Coast of Cali nearly a year ago. We lived on the island of Kauai for a few years and since the temperatures there are fairly consistent we didn't have the need for a product like this, However this area is much chillier and the weather fluctuates a lot right on the Pacific so we decided to purchase a nice thermometer. My boyfriend is a private chef and very particular about anything he buys so he did a lot of research before making a decision. Our new Bjerg Instruments thermometer is perfect and already installed on our front porch. It really looks good out there and we appreciate knowing the temperature each AM. Also Bjerg sent a positive follow up email asking how we liked their product....so professional and much appreciated plus demonstrating excellent customer service. We would recommend Bjerg thermometers to anyone in the market for a precise, attractive and useful product. Happy Holidays!!! Carla and Eric Quality piece... November 27, 2016 I am happy to report that the thermometer is everything that I had hoped, it is made solid and really the way that things 'used to be' made, which is a good thing. Quality materials along with quality craftsmanship is always appreciated, especially at a good price. It took me all of two minutes to install, the hardest part was deciding where to place it.As a matter of fact I plan on getting another one for outside, the one that I bought went into our sun room. You won't go wrong with this unit June 16, 2016 This finely-crafted thermometer is a welcome addition to our home. It installed outside our kitchen window with no difficulty. It is easy to read and appears to be accurate. My wife let out an expression of glee when she saw I had installed this item after our serviceable but cheap plastic dial-type thermometer had fallen to its fate, having clung to its mount by a figurative thread for weeks upon being clobbered by an eager and highly competent but inattentive home remodeler. He's safely gone, so the same fate will not befall our handsome 10-inch thermometer. We will enjoy it for years to come. This is a good item at a good price. Buy it with confidence. Looks beautiful, easy to mount, easy to see, and it works! February 10, 2016 I mounted this thermometer on my pergola about 6 feet away from my back door. I was able to swivel the thermometer it so I can clearly see the temperature while standing at the back door. No more sticking my toe in the snow to see how cold it is outside :) I have other copper finish items on the deck so it fits right it.Looks beautiful, easy to mount, easy to see, price is great, and it works! Glad I purchased it and read it daily now. January 19, 2016 I bought this to see what temp it was outside from my kitchen window. I mounted it right on the outside of the window because the writing isn't huge so you can't read it from really far away. It doesn't draw a lot of attention so it doesn't look weird on the outside of the window. The only reason I almost gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is it doesn't seem to have full mobility. I couldn't mount it to the left side of my window because the bracket didn't want to turn that far so I did it to the right hand side. That said I didn't try too hard to move it around so maybe it is user error. Overall for the price point it looks really nice and seems to work well. | 68% Easy Reading Rain Gauge September 23, 2017 This is such an easy to read rain gauge. When the rain fills it, the numbers become clearer and larger so you can read them without straining your eyes. Excellent quality and looks like it will last for a very long time. I would definitely recommend this rain gauge. Great Buy! August 26, 2017 Accurate, easy to read. "Planted" it in my garden. The magnifier allows me to see the rain depth from my porch. When it's done raining, I pull it up, empty it, and put it back for the next rain. Much easier to use, and much less expensive, than other rain gauges. Not just for amusement August 13, 2017 It functions as advertised. Large easy to read water level/rain level/sprinkler level. Entire unit is hard plastic. The tip-shaft is strong enough to absorb steady pressure pushing it into the ground without breaking. However, you might want to have something handy to make a slat in the ground, just in case you hit hard dirt. Gives you the facts of rainfall and how much you need to amend. I was surprised to learn that watering at high noon is a total waste of dollars. Simple and effective August 3, 2017 It works, and I can read the levels from inside the house thanks to the large print and magnifying effect. I'm using two of these to measure the effectiveness of my sprinkler system as well as just measuring rainfall. Does the job. Husbands! July 7, 2017 Hubby wanted a rain gauge. So did our neighbor who bought a different one. Now like a couple of kids, they run out after a storm to compare their gauges. Me, I find it helpful to know when to water. If you are looking for a rain gauge then this is the one for you. January 11, 2015 Love this rain gauge - wish I had gotten it many years ago. Clever design. I like the fact that the scale is graduated in 1/10 inch units for the first 4 inches and then in 2/10 increments for inch 5.Large scale is easy to read and the opening is large enough to be able to easily clean the unit if you choose to do so.IIt is easy to mount - I mounted mine to a 1x1 inch stake which I just stuck in my garden planter. We just got rain in Los Angeles in the past 24 hours and I have included a couple of pictures of the gauge in action. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 14% Beautiful Copper. Needs a larger thermometer scale. August 14, 2017 The antique copper finish is beautiful. The mounting bracket is sturdy enough to position the thermometer without it being loose. The thermometer scale is visually smaller than pictured. There are overly large blank gaps above and below the scale. I would rather the scale be increased another 10 or 20 points high or low(since I expect temps below -20 degrees), or the font should be increased and thermometer recalibrated, or keep the scale and shrink the thermometer to an overall 8 inch height. Tells temp. terrifically April 4, 2017 This is functionally flawless; exactly what I was hoping for!I do with it came in a slightly smaller size. Classic temperature gauge reads in both Celsius and Fahrenheit March 16, 2017 It has a nice feel and mounted easily outside my living room window. It's good to see both Celsius and Fahrenheit temperatures side-by-side.The only down-side I see is that the numbers are so small that I can't read them unless I get close to the thermometer. Nicely Designed and Nice Adjustment Angle February 23, 2017 Nice little thermometer and can be "swung" to adjust angle of view. Numbers are quite small, and if the eyes are not sharp, the gradations of temp are close enough together to made temp distinction a bit of a challenge copper finish thermometer December 11, 2016 I just received my thermometer and unpacked it. My hubby wanted a thermometer for the outside so this is a little something I got him for Christmas. I hope he will like it. I liked the looks of it and think it will look good on the house. Now accurate but a little filmsy July 31, 2015 Revised:I purchased this 10” Bjerg Wall Thermometer (item#442426) from Amazon and installed it today. When I unpacked it, the unit read 85 degrees. After installing it outside, it still read 85 degrees, or about 6-7 degrees F, lower than the ambient as read by 2 other electronic digital units and another analog thermometer I have in the same vicinity. The digital and analog units were within 1 degree F of each other. The Bjerg unit was nailed at 85 degrees 3 hours after installation, but my digital units now read 91 and 92 degrees and the analog indicated 92 degrees.I emailed the seller "Clean Air Commerce" and got a quick response suggesting that I let sit overnight vertically and if I still had the problem, he would send out a new one. I decided to take a hair dryer to it by blowing warm air through the sensing hole at the bottom of the thermometer. After heating the bulb long enough to get the column of liquid to rise to the 100 degree mark, I shut off the hair dryer and let the thermometer cool overnight. Sure enough, this morning, it was within 1-2 degrees in agreement with my other units. I really cannot definitively explain what happened, but it is now working satisfactorily. Customer service from the seller was unexpectedly great, responded to my email within an hour and I would recommend them. Revised my rating from an initial "1 star" to "4 stars", not 5, because I considered the unit a little flimsy, easily shifted with a slight bump. But, then again it only cost 10 bucks.FYI, it is made in China.Update 8/5/2015: Checked this morning with my infrared gun thermometer and found them to be with a 0.5 degree of each other (as close as I can visually discern). Now very happy with the accuracy. | 17% Easy to read August 30, 2017 This is easy to read. I only wish the base was longer since we don't usually get more than 1 inch of rain and it's hard to see the top of the water when the gauge is stuck into the dirt. Easy to read August 23, 2017 Easy to read. Just received so inserted it into the ground which will have to pull out each time to empty. May mount it on a decorative pole as the mounting holes are slotted and it will be easy to remove, dump out and then replace. Very Easy to Read from 15' or More August 2, 2017 Very easy to read from 15' or more. I had one like it and got more cloudy and hard to read with each year. I hope they changed the type of material but my guess it may do the same over time. For a simple rain gauge, buy this! June 23, 2017 SO MUCH better and less expensive than the electronic ones being offered. Just what I need; one more electronic device to require batteries, charging, updates, and eventually failure! Plants get the water they need October 9, 2016 I bought several of these and put them all over my backyard. Now instead of guessing how long to run the sprinklers, I know how much water my plants are getting and how long to run them. I also know immediately when I have a sprinkler that is not working. Works fine May 11, 2015 It's an inexpensive plastic rain gauge that will probably only last a season or two here in our near year round hot climate but what the hey. We are actually getting some rain as of this writing. I should say a deluge has hit. Looked out the window and the gauge is running full over the top. That's over 5" in less than three hours. Coincides with local weather report on T.V. Looks like it works. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% Size matters May 31, 2017 While the item itself was very pretty and looks good hanging up on my porch, it is so small you can't read the temperature off of it. This is my fault I supose for not realizing 10inces would be to small for my need. Other than that, it is nice. Antique Copper Finish Adjustable Angle 10 Inch Garden Thermometer April 27, 2017 Looks nice...smaller than expected, my bad. Not terribly accurate. But looks nice as covered deck accessoryhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B018GT680C/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_32 It's ok.... March 28, 2017 It is hard to see the line that indicates what the temperature is. You have to look at the correct angle to be clearly visible. It provides an accurate reading though, and it looks nice. If I had to buy another one I would get one that is easier to read from a distance. It isn't bad, but will worsen I'm sure August 10, 2016 I works, but does have a couple issues..I have this installed under my front porch and have had it up for a few months now. It is showing a little rust. It isn't bad, but will worsen I'm sure. If it was exposed to the elements I would think it would rust much quicker. It also isn't as sturdy as I'd I'd like it to be, as the top seemed to come apart far to easily. This was easily fixed by putting a dab of super glue and putting it back together.Overall it works fine, remember to install it in the shade to get accurate temps. | 7% This is my second one - same brand, original ... October 3, 2017 This is my second one - same brand, original one bought at Walmart. Walmart doesn't have them anymore. Old one became unreadable because sun had deteriorated the plastic. Old one had 10 divisions on first 3 inches and 5 divisions on last two inches. This new one has 8 divisions on all five inches. What idiot thought that was acceptable? So each division = 1/8" = 0.125". Just had a light rain - gauge shows one and one-half divisions. That equals 1/8" + 1/16" = 3/16" = 0.1875". When my neighbor asks "How much rain did you get?", what do I tell him? I have to calculate the divisions each time so I know it was "slightly less than 0.2". Three Stars August 19, 2017 I have a couple of rain gauges, and this one records less rain that the others. This works fine and was easy to mount July 31, 2017 This works fine and was easy to mount, but somehow cracked after just a few days of being outside. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I was hoping it would be a little more durable. These are nice and very readable July 17, 2017 These are nice and very readable, but the sun's UV rays turns the plastic from clear, to a very dark yellow which makes it hard to read. It also develops cracks from the sun as well. If you purchase this unit, plan on replacing it every year. I'm on my third unit in four years. Good for in the ground June 7, 2017 It works as a rain gauge in the ground but is a pain to hang up. I would not get it again. I did not want to stick in the yard so ... March 31, 2017 I did not want to stick in the yard so I mounted on the picnic table, problem is that I have to unscrew the two screws to remove/empty. May just stick in the yard.+ | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 5% Crap April 26, 2017 Broke in less than a year. It was out of reach to most people. The glass mercury tube fell out. Junk. Sadly inaccurate January 17, 2017 It's lightweight, easy to install & cute. However, it's not accurate in any way. Today the temp is 58 but the thermometer is showing 82. Since I installed it weeks ago, it has consistently been that far off. Broken just after one year December 23, 2016 I bought two of these just over a year ago, really liked the looks and practical reading, both Celcius and Fahrenheit. This month both of them broke! The stick with the red liquid inside snapped in two. Will not get these again. Lasted a year November 22, 2016 Works great but after one year the glass temp gauge unglued from the backing Meh... July 29, 2016 Barely okay. Very cheaply made, the temperature is in the general vicinity of accurate, but hardly on the nose. And after installing it on an exterior window frame - there is no possible way to be able to see the temp from the insde. Which I thought was the entire purpose of the design. It's attractive from a distance but would only be worthwhile if it were made out of much, much better materials. | 3% Cracked August 10, 2017 The first one I bought only lasted a few months. It cracked. I bought another because the nails were set up already...the second one cracked in a few months. Dont waste your money Rain is leaking out August 7, 2017 I gave this as a gift to my husband. We put it in the ground using the stake and it has already broke. It doesn't hold water anymore. We used tape to fix it, but I'm not sure how accurate it is now. Not a good quality rain gauge. cracked, now leaks July 14, 2016 After a few months, it developed several small cracks in the plastic and now leaks. It will hold rain amounts below 1/2 inch, but any amount more than 1/2 inch will slowly leak out and give low readings. It worked well for a couple of months, but now I need to buy another one that is more durable. I'll probably try to find glass, as the clear plastic on this cheap one doesn't seem to be up to the task of withstanding the elements. Not certain of accuracy June 13, 2016 Tried this rain gauge as we track weather/rain for work. Have two other types (4 total gauges) also being used at the same time, and this one has proven to read consistently lower, so much so that I do not feel it is accurate. Hard to know for certain, and will move to a side-by-side location with one of the others and update review if readings change. It is currently only 50 or so feet from the others. It's an inexpensive product and you get what you pay for May 21, 2016 Specifically, I gave the gauge 2 stars because it's made of cheap plastic and easily cracks (that's what happened to mine). More generally, I have been disappointed with every AcuRite product I've purchase, which includes 2 different expensive weather stations neither of which measured rainfall accurately or forecasted accurately. I only mention this because AcuRite seems to me like a company which doesn't care enough about quality. Worked great for a few weeks then cracked? June 8, 2015 I loved that it was large and easy to read. Also liked that it could be mounted or put down into the ground for rain collection measurement. The down side is that my collection tube cracked during the first month and then water would slowly seep out, so no way to get accurate measure. I was initially impressed but expected to get more than a few weeks of service? I had inserted mine into the corner of my backyard raised beds garden with high hopes and not exactly sure what happened? Perhaps it's a manufacturing flaw or I just got a dud...went back to the tried and true glass rain gauge | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 6% Red liquid in thermometer had a big bubble, after ... September 17, 2017 Red liquid in thermometer had a big bubble, after several days of being installed it did not go away. Returned for refund. Very nice thermometer, and accurate to within 30 degrees (your mileage may vary...) July 4, 2017 It is a cool morning here in California. The birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, the dogs are resting in the sunshine, AND IT'S 108 FREAKING DEGREES. At least according to my trusty thermometer. The weather forecast says 70, the car temp readings say 70, but this thermometer 108. It isn't like it is stuck there. It has read as low as 52 when the evening temperature dropped to the low 60's. I've had it up for a few days, hoping it would calibrate or something. Alas, that hope was in vain. The look is great. The attachment to the house and viewing adjustments are very nice. But the Thermometer is not remotely accurate. If you want eye candy, this is your lollipop. If you want to know what the temperature is within 20 degrees, look elsewhere. Thermometer cracks under 20 degrees. December 26, 2016 Purchased in April 2016. It's December now. After temperatures dropped under 20 degrees, the thermometer cracked and is no longer functional. Not worth the price - VERY cheaply made. December 12, 2016 VERY cheaply made. Looks much better in the photo than it is in real life. It is light as a feather and the inside piece is made of plastic. You can remove the top and the plastic thermometer slides right out - it's not even secured. I bought this as a gift for my dad but will be returning it. I can't understand how this got such great reviews! It make me question the veracity of the reviewers. And by the way, the day after it arrived I found the exact same item for sale at a big box home improvement store for $7.99! (Which seems like a more suitable price.) Almost lasted a year. It had rust on it ... November 26, 2016 Almost lasted a year. It had rust on it within the first 3 months after I mounted it outside my kitchen window. Went to check the temp this morning before heading out and saw the glass tube had broken away from the temperature scale. See attached pictures. | 5% Updated design not good September 21, 2017 I have purchased these gauges in the past. My old gauge had gotten too fogged from UV light to read easily, so I replaced it with one of these... to my un-delight. The manufacturer has changed the mounting hole distanced so the old screw holes don't align. And, also changed the diameter of screw that the newer hole will accept. And, the mold for the screw holes in hold sharp, so I had to cut out some flashing to get the unit to mount. Just not a good replacement for the old unit. I should not have to re-work the mount on the identical unit. I assume the fogging problem I had with my old unit was caused by the use of styrene plastic in the gauge rather than acrylic.... cheaper. Anyway, I modified and mounted it and will look elsewhere down the line if this needs replacing. Reads half of actual? April 6, 2017 I put this gauge next to a standard tubular gauge so that I would have one that I could read from a distance. We have had some heavy rains and this gauge consistently read half the amount of the tubular one. It appears the designer/manufacturer (in China) had an unusually graduated ruler when creating the scale on the back of this gauge. (Design software or operator error?) Sticking a standard tape measure into the gauge shows that the half inch mark is one inch from the bottom. As it goes up, it allows for the taper but it is still not accurate. (See photo.) I thought I might be goofy since nobody else has commented on this. I like the gauge for its visibility from a distance. I guess I'll just have to double the reading to find out what the rainfall really was. Am I missing something? Broke after 1 months use September 11, 2016 Installed this in our tv at the end of July and it broke by the end of August. Not worth it! Brittle, Not too visible, raindrops obscure the reading.. September 24, 2015 Edited January 2016: the spike of this broke off two months ago. Buy one that doesn't have a plastic spike to jam into the ground. I think a stiff wind snapped it.mmmm, not that visible from afar, really. Might be 8 ft from my patio and the rainwater beading on it obscures the actual measured amount. But it was cheap and is a companion to a larger gauge. Maybe it it ever rains more than an inch here, it'll be more visible, but looking from our patio, all I saw was bubbles of rain on it. Got a small crack within a week! June 21, 2015 After only owning this a week, I started out loving this product as it was easy to read the numbers, when I checked it last week I found it has a crack at the bottom which makes the product useless! | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
