Side by Side Comparison of: Bjerg Instruments vs AcuRite

When I was looking to replace my plain white 12" Thermometer I came across this gem. I was impressed with the looks and the 4 1/2 stars. I wasn't sure this size would be big enough to see from inside but it's more than adequate and it adds a bit of class to the patio and it's accurate.

We just received our item. It has a beautiful antique copper finish. We plan on putting it outdoors, however, we have not had the chance to do so yet. We did compare the temp with our inside digital A/C unit thermometer, and they both had the same temp reading. So far so good.

Just what we needed here in Florida. The temperature and humidity seems to be very accurate!

My wife and I didn't care for the digital thermometers that are out there. We wanted something classy and a bit retro looking. This thermometer met our needs. Smart styling and accurate. We would recommend this to anyone.

The item arrived very quickly, and was well packed. We hung it on our front porch where we could see it from inside. It is located under the portico in a dry spot. The temperature is very accurate as well as the humidity reading. The antique brass finish is lovely. Best of all was the price and no shipping charges.

From the photo the item appears to be aesthetic and of high quality. Surprise! It is just that . . . and sold at a surprisingly low price. The matte-bronzed finish is impressive and the thermometer looks great on the wall. I also tested it (hardly scientific, but I hope useful) in several situations, indoors and out (with varied temps though I did not have extreme weather during my experiment), against a higher priced thermometer and a scientific thermometer. All three were always within about a degree and a half of one another, which I think is most impressive and as close as you are going to get with different instruments. It appears durable though I sense placing it either inside or on a porch out of the full fury of the elements would be wiser than mounting it outside— just an impression as I don't see how they could fully seal an instrument at such reasonable cost. Great buy!

Working just fine. The location where I installed it is a bit too far away from my viewing spot so a larger one would have been a little better. Not the fault of the thermometer, it works just fine.

Compared to the tiny digital display on my thermostat, in my garage, it seems pretty accurate (they agree within a degree or two).Easy to ready from a distance of 15-20 feet, which is what I needed.Also looks very nice on the wall (finished garage) over the work bench, by the clock.All in all, it was a good purchase

I'm using it on our screened in back porch and it's fairly accurate.

I wish this came in 12 inch, but I was able to work the 8 inch and no another space. It is very difficult to find a large thermometer reading with the humidity dial. Most are clocks with temp and moisture dials small or large temp with small clock. I ended up ordering a 12 inch thermometer only to replace an all white one I had and used the 8 inch elsewhere so I still have the moisture reading. Product is well made and accurate.

It's a very good looking instrument. Since I just got it, and I can't attest to its accuracy, but comparing it to other thermometers in the house, it's off by one degree. Of course, it could be the other thermometers are off by that much. The humidity indicator has gone up as high as 93%, and agrees within 5% of what the local weather stations are saying the humidity is my area. I'm giving it a cautious 4 stars for now. If it remains reliable, I'll give it 5 stars.

Works well and is big enough to see from inside the house. It seems to be accurate.I've now had this for about three months and changed my rating to four stars. It still works well but after several days of rain, there are about two inches of water in the bottom. I have to open the back and drain it. It's not difficult and it still looks nice, just isn't water tight.

Temp seems accurate but I paid a little more to be able to read the humidity and that reading is way off for sure. Its a bummer because it really is nice looking!

I bought this item primarily for the hygrometer function. It is too small to see from any distance. I did not really need another outdoor thermometer, and the hygrometer did not seem to function properly, so I returned the item.

Pretty, but smaller than a normal outdoor thermometer. May have to return it.

I wish this thermometer were larger. It is very hard to read when outside even close to the house. Otherwise I like it.

Looks great but the temp is high by like 5 degrees and I can't find a way to adjust it.

The ONLY reason I purchased this was for outdoors, on my balcony so I know what the temperature is outside.I spent a LOT of time searching for a GOOD thermometer. All the ones in the stores are cheap made, inaccurate and inexpensive at around $ 3 - 4.00.THIS particular one says "indoor/OUTDOOR thermometer" and the price in a way was reflecting of a better quality.When I got it home, it really looked very nice, maybe too nice for outside and had NO protection in the back from the elements. I contacted the seller and he told me that this thermometer is NOT for outside, unless I PROTECT it from the rain and snow.Now, what is the meaning of an "OUTDOOR" item if it cannot handle rain and snow, ALL the outdoor elements ?I now have another INDOOR thermometer that I did not need and nothing for my balcony.Please keep in mind that the customer service is very receptive and nice, but this is not the point and I wish they would NOT MISLEAD the buyers and take out the word OUTDOORS. If the seller would do this, he would probably have 5 stars reviews all across.Please let me be clear that the only reason I give it a 2 stars is because it says "outdoors" and is NOT.

Humidity is very difficult to adjust. It is showing again and again not correct and needs adjustment with screw driver. Came without manual and I had to ask by email how to work with. Don't buy it !!!!!!!

When place in the sum it will register over 100 degrees. So you need to find a place that is always in the shade.

I have 2 hygrometers in the bedroom that tend to match eachother in their readouts. I keep trying to calibrate this one and it never stays correct. Sometimes it matches the others, sometimes it doesn't. With the other 2 in agreement I believe there's a problem with this one.

It looks nice enough and the temperature gauge works fine, but the humidity indicator, the main reason we chose this one, doesn't work well. Also the small size makes it difficult to read from any kind of distance. We kept it mostly because it fit our maritime theme, not for the function.

I ordered this specifically for the fact that it reads both temperature and humidity. As someone that lives in Hawaii I was curious of the daily humidity. I soon suspected the humidity gauge was not accurate at all as it would often hover around 10 and never rises above 20. As a further test I left it posted outside on the lanai during a recent hurricane and checked it while it was raining and it still read below 10. This makes me question the accuracy of the temperature gauge as well. Too bad as it looks very nice and was perfect size for where I hung it.

The product stopped working...

Started rusting within 6 months - in San Diego which is an arid climate. Now after 15 months, it's pretty badly rusted.

Failed with in one 1 year . Cheap sensor mechanism . Truly not worth it . Garbage

Horrible product, we're very disappointed. Hung it outside and at the first rainstorm it fogged up. Then the white face started buckling and peeling off. It is just a thin plastic sheet, not hard plastic like I thought it was. As soon as the plastic face started raising off the back, the needles for temp and humidity got stuck on it and that was the end...... Have had it two months now and can't return it... :(

Piece of junk. Doesn't work and it really wasn't apparent until the cold months came, well after the time for return. Don't buy it unless you want something nice to "look" at. It is a complete waste of money.

I calibrated it and has never been accurate. Too much trouble to send back.
