Side by Side Comparison of: CloSYS vs Crest

We use this as part of Dr. Ellie's CWT program. It definitely works on your gums. I started using this, as part of CWT System, and all of my gum pockets had reversed from 4-5mm's to 2-3mm in the course of a year (and are continuing to get even smaller to 1mm). My dental cleanings are now pointless too (there's nothing to clean anymore when I go to checkups), so I go just to enjoy the praises from my dentist and continued evaluation (always perfect). My husband had a more dramatic improvement -- he had pockets of 6-7's all over his mouth (smallest number 4), and the worse case of bad breath for over 15 years that would not go away. He tried so many things (Orawellness program, some blue zinc mouthwash for halitosis, on top of periodontal cleanings every 3 months for years) and only the Orawellness program + Waterpik began to reduce some of the pockets a little, but his bad breath remained. Finally, after 6 months of using Closys twice a day (in combo with Dr. Ellie's system), his largest pocket was a 4mm, but more importantly, his bad breath finally abated. He also now has nothing to clean from his mouth at cleanings, but his periodontist wants to keep him on a 4-month schedule anyways for checkups for a while. This stuff WORKS!

This was recommended to me from my dental hygienist. It's lovely. It has no burn and my mouth feels really clean afterward. Glad I got the flavorless kind, I do not prefer their mint flavor. (The flavorless comes with a small tube of mint flavor you can add if you want to for "flavor control".)

Leaves mouth feeling clean after brush and floss. My gums feel healthy. Does not feel artificial or leave the typical mouthwash aftertaste. Does come with mint drops if the bland taste is too much to handle. Definitely a repeat purchase.

I was introduced to this product by my dentist. It works great as part of a complete oral hygiene routine and does what it claims to do. I love that it doesn't burn, no matter how long I keep it in my mouth. There is an optional mint flavoring that comes in a tiny bottle. I tried using this product without the flavoring, but it seemed weird not having the minty fresh taste that I'm used to. I've wondered about using a different flavoring but haven't tried it yet. Has anyone else tried hacking the flavor?

We have used this product along with our 10 and 7 years old for the past yr or so and we have left the dentist with smiles and no cavities. We like the little bottle of mint that's included bc you can adjust the amount of mintyness. Our kids can't take the really minty rinses, they think it's spicy. Sometimes we don't even add the mint and it still works. It's not like some other products that covers your bad breath with mint. It helps wipe out stinky breath! Yay!!! Our family loves this product.

Unusual because it has no flavor - it's almost as if you are rinsing with water. But a few minutes after rinsing, you get this characteristic mild astringency that lasts almost 24 hours after one use. It also whitened my teeth a shade with regular use. This product was recommended by a dentist to my sister who has gum disease.

I love this stuff, and it keeps my teeth white (but not fake-looking white). These Crest 3D products are all way overpriced, so look for sales.My favorite aspect of this product (hidden in an unnecessarily huge variety of the "3D" line) is its non-childproof cap. It's wonderfully easy to open. Perhaps that's because it's alcohol-free...?Anyway, it's a tiny quality-of-life improvement that I appreciate, especially on those bleary eyed mornings when some fresh minty mouthwash helps clear away the cobwebs!

I can see the difference every time I use this.

My husband and I use this after brushing, and it helps keep our teeth from look yellow. It isn't as powerful as whitestrips, but it does a good job of mitigating day-to-day coffee stains, etc.The taste is also enjoyable, although doesn't leave your mouth feeling quite as clean as normal mouth wash (I don't have a problem with it, my mouth still feels clean, but I know some people like to feel really, really disinfected with the kind of mouth wash that leaves your mouth burning a bit).

This is a fantastic deal. The mouthwash is wonderful at keeping your teeth white and strong. It has a great taste with minimal sting. Your mouth feels wonderful afterwards.

Love this it will whiten your teeth instantly! The taste is a bit salty but it works!!! Best one I've found!

So far so good, it si gentler then using listerine.But you do not get that same burning mouth flavor knowing your mouth has been cleaned.

I was using Peredex, which is effective but stains my caps. This does not clean as well Peredex, but it doesn't stain.

I really like it. It comes without flavoring, but you get a small bottle to add flavor at the level you want, which is quite nice.It doesn't burn your mouth and it doesn't upset my stomach like some mouth washes do. I feel it is making a difference. Use it regularly now. Will try their toothpaste next.

Left my mouth feeling clean. Liked that I had the option of adding flavoring or not.Nothing outstanding that I could notice.

Use it everyday.. I use just a smidge of the mint flavor..like it for the fact that it tastes like close to nothing.. no burning, no over flavoring. It works

Not as good as the mint flavored one. The little bottle they gave you, don't put it all in!!

I started using this along wit Crest's whitening toothpaste and whitening strips and quickly noticed a change. My issue is with coffee stains, so I can't attest to how well this would work on other kinds of stains or yellowing from plaque.A warning though: this stuff tastes gnarly. It has a phlegm-like taste that lingers in the back of your throat. I usually brush my tongue and rinse afterwards to get the flavor out because it really is foul. But no pain, no gain I guess.

Besides a great teeth whitening product it is also a very good mouth wash.

Makes a difference in whitening and leaves your mouth with a fresh taste.

Get this all the time at drug store. This was easier as I did not have to carry home three large heavy bottles. Thanks for having it

This stuff works but the strips are much better and you can use them less frequently.

I find this product, when used with a "whitening" paste does make a noticeable difference in the appearance / whiteness / brightness of my smile.... Good product at a fair price

This mouthwash is pretty good, doesn't burn. The packaging however is pretty moronic- the amount you need to swish with is two capfuls. The cap is tiny- why not make a cap that is double the size so we don't have to fill a tiny cap twice? Come on, common sense here

I really wanted this to work because a prescription rinse left me with altered taste buds and kept me from enjoying my tea (which is critical to my well being). So I tried this and, admittedly, it did not adversely effect my tea drinking but it did leave me with a chlorine (bleach) smell in my nostrils for several hours and also seemed to burn my mouth and tongue. I have rather significant Sjogren's Syndrome and that may render my mouth more sensitive so my results may not be at all typical.I would recommend trying one of the trial packs before investing in the large bottle. If it works for you, the large size really is quite a bargain (especially compared to the aforementioned prescription rinse) and may well be as effective as the product description promises.

Does nothing for gingivitis

I got this mouthwash, because I was supposed to avoid mint. They do include mint oil, but it is in a separate bottle. You can choose how much you want to add or not add it at all. I found myself having to add a bit of the oil though. When I left it unflavored, I ended up with a mild chemical taste in my mouth I couldn't get rid of. It's a good product, but if I am having to add mint to it anyway, I might as well get a cheaper bottle of mild mint mouthwash at the store.

For anyone who is only familiar with the quart size container, this pony size is a true visual deception. Be careful on pricing. Otherwise this product is amazing. Use it to clean wounds, clear ear wax, clean eye lids, knock down budding sore throats with spray, clear sinus problems with dropper.

Decent price. Favor is alright with or without the flavor enhancing drops, which are peppermint oil based. Easy to use. Doesn't burn. Doesn't leave a bad aftertaste. I have no objective way of knowing it is, or is not working since my breath wasn't that bad to begin with. It seems to get the job done, though I would like to see studies comparing this active ingredient to CPC based mouthwashes.

Havent noticed difference in teeth becoming any whiter with months of using this product

I was exactly what was ordered and delivered as promised.

I love the crest 3D white tooth paste but the mouth wash kills my taste buds. I can't taste anything for hours after using it, so i only use it at bed time.

Not much of a difference.

I use it daily every time I brush. If it made my teeth any whiter, well maybe a little. But taste is not bad and leaves you mouth feeling clean.

I can't tell yet whether it actually whitens my teeth, but I can comment on the taste. Not good.But not so bad, either. Not extremely minty but not absolutely medicinal, either. Somewhere in between, perhaps.

This is not the mouthwash for me. I was trying to find a substitute for a product that is only sold overseas. After reading that the technology behind this product is superior to that behind my favored product, I took a chance on this.It tastes like exactly nothing. That was my first issue with it. Closys supplies optional flavor droplets, but my mouth is trained for heavy mint and myrrh in dental products. I had trouble feeling that it was working. My mouth never did feel cleaner. My tongue may have had less of a coating on it, but it is hard to say.After a couple of weeks of using Closys, my mouth started to get a horrible taste and feel like there was a film. This could not have happened at a worse moment either, on a very romantic trip! No amount of brushing or using other products worked in the immediate sense. For all I know I could have smelled bad as well. It took days of drinking lots of water, eating lots of Greek yogurt, and avoiding Closys to make that nasty taste go away. Afterward I researched Closys but could only find a mention or two alluding to the bad taste and film developing. My new understanding of the chemistry of this product is that it should not be used concurrently with any other product, toothpaste included. Several hours should pass between using Closys and any other dental hygiene product. If this is indeed the case, the instructions for the Closys should state clearly what the process is and how it is to be used for optimal results.From now on I will order what I know for sure works -- an older product available in the UK and EU. Dentists use a similar formula in the US for periodontal patients, but unfortunately it is available via prescription only.

I ordered because of a very strong recommendation from my dentist, but after several weeks, poured it down the drain because of the very strong aftertaste in the back of my mouth that would last all day. I had this problem with and without the flavor control. It was so bad that I will be checking with both my dentist and family doctor to see if I have a throat problem. If I do, I'll modify this review!UPDATE: Apparently the bad taste is caused by one of my meds (simvastatin), so please disregard my negative review! My dentist still has high regard for this product.

weak version of Neways Eliminator, way too much water.

After all of the great reviews, I was expecting SOMETHING. I didn't mind the lack of taste (I didn't bother putting in the flavoring), but didn't notice this working at all.

Slightly helped morning breath, but only with the mint drops. Unfortunately, not enough mint drops for that entire bottle. It really didn't do anything for me.

two comments mostly,I dont see my teeth getting whiter, after using it i always have some kind of paste residue in mouth which is very not tasty.Its fine i guess as a mouthwash but i wouldnt recommend

I don't notice any whitening going on, although that's not what I purchased it for. If you are expecting that to occur I would recommend going to a dentist and getting it professionally done. I'm not a fan of the taste of this product.

Too harsh for me.

It has a strange, a bit sour, aftertaste. I'm not sure what it is but I think its one of the whitening agents.I wouldn't recommend because its just not very refreshing with that aftertaste.

I had high hopes for a product that wouldn't burn the inside of my mouth. This product was that, but it left a kind of numb, off sensation in my mouth that affected my taste. I sent it back a month ago, and really my mouth has not completely recovered. I'm going back to brushing with baking soda.

After a month of using this in accordance with the label instructions I developed severe inflammation of my lips and gums. It would acutely get worse a few minutes after using so I stopped using it and the problem resolved within a few days. I am 100% certain that this was the culprit. Not sure if this is a common occurrence or not with this stuff but I won't be using it again. I discussed the issue with someone from the company who said he doubted that the mouthwash was the culprit and recommended I try their toothpaste. Nope! Not happening. This was the culprit.

Open box item, item said a pack of 2 but only 1 arrived. Misleading.

Horrible taste, even with the additive drops. Not to mention that this isn't recommended due to the other agents in it - I found that out /after/ I ordered it, of course. Dentist said to get it because it was another herbal formula, which it is not.

smells like chlorine

Made my gums feel odd... like they'd been immersed in bleach. Kind of tingly that lasted a long time and not in a good way. Made my teeth more sensitive. My mouth felt really clean, but not worth it for the weird feeling. Awful.

Clearly states package of 3, only 1 came. RIPOFF.

It says "pack of 3" but i only received 1 bottle. The customer service said "pack of 3" means the the mouthwash does 3 things: whitens teeth, protects against stains, kills bad breath. But from other customer feedback, it seems like some of them do receive 3 packages.

I'm sorry crest. But this product is DISGUSTANG! It tastes exactly like chew spit. It's horrible and I dumped it out. As far as burning my mouth (as I saw in other post) I didn't experience any of that. As far as whiter teeth? I can't even tell you if it works I couldn't get over the horrible taste. I honestly accused my husband of chewing again because his breath wreaked of it. It's so bad.

One of the three arrived unsealed. It is quite watered down. I returned all three for replacement. We shall see if those are any better.

The first one I opened, the lid was smashed, and it went all over the place. I managed to salvage some of it. I've just opened the second one, and it's lid is broken as well, and leaking all over the place.

I was supposed to get 3 bottles of 32oz mouthwash but I only got one 32oz bottle.Really Disappointed.
