Five Star Reviews: | 73% I really like these. With about a 35 inch waist, the Medium size fits great. August 2, 2017 I originally ordered these in Large but they were too large and I returned them but, I really liked the material and color combination. My waist measures about 35 inches (on a good day). After looking at some other swimwear, I decided to try these again in Medium. I'm glad I did. They fit just fine, are very comfortable and I like the way they look. I'd prefer a real draw string that goes all the way around the waist but these are fine without it. Perfect Swim Shorts July 6, 2017 These are the only swim trunks I've purchased where you can be completely active: swim, hike, snorkel, etc., and NOT get a weird rash. Know what I mean? Your "package" will be protected. ;) Purchased for Father's Day - was a hit! June 20, 2017 Bought these for my dad as a Father's Day gift and he loved them. They fit as expected and have a very nice, basic look to them which is what my dad prefers. They are also the quality you would expect from a brand like Speedo, so I was not disappointed. very nice swim trunks April 4, 2017 very nice swim trunks. Well made and look great. Went with xl but xxl was better for my husband's 42" waist. XX-large fits well for a big guy September 22, 2016 I have a 44-inch waist and have a hard time buying clothes online. I got the XX-large and these fit well around my waist and legs. Not too tight and not too baggy. The webbing doesn't constrict. Good material, well made, good pockets. They are great for swimming September 22, 2016 I live and play on the beach. I am well over fifty. These are the classic volleyball style shorts I've been wearing forever. They allow you to move freely without binding - jumping, diving, bending, crouching.Fashions go above and below the knee, but these 19" outseams are long enough to walk around in public as a walking short and stay in fashion as a classic. They are great for swimming, dry quickly and do not stick to your legs when wet, they do not ride up. The material is strong and they hold their shape.I also bought a pair of the Kanu Surf Men's Havana Trunks at the same time. They appeared to be a less expensive version - but not cheap quality - to the Speedo Rally Volley's. They look and fit similarly, but do not share the same high quality material and design features as deep pockets, strong inner briefs, etc.I am very happy with my purchase, they exceed my expectations, I will definitely be purchasing additional pairs. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 18% Quality, reasonably priced water shorts September 11, 2017 These are good, simple water shorts. They fit well and are comfortable with a thick waist band that stays in place in strong surf. I am six feet tall- the XL comes down to just above my knees, basically as pictured. There is a lining, one side pocket on each side, and a single velcro cargo pocket. These are not the fastest drying water shorts I have had, but they dry well enough. Aesthetics are subjective, but I think they look pretty good and have received compliments on them. One issue- I have an older pair where one of the ringlets for the ties at the waist popped off after a couple of years. It stills ties for now, but not ideal durability. Good quality, true to sizing August 10, 2017 These are great alternate swimming trunks for my husband. Has white lining inside. I guess I wasn't paying attention, but they aren't solid black which my husband requested - it has white seams and red lines on the sides, but they're still nice! Shorts fit true to size around waist. I wear ... April 1, 2017 Shorts fit true to size around waist. I wear XL and it fit well. Material is very soft, but shorts are a little baggy towards knees. Also, they come down to your knee caps. Wish they were a little slimmer towards knees Quite comfortable and nice but would prefer it to be less baggy and a bit cheaper November 15, 2016 Wore it twice to go swimming @ the beach and for a kayaking trip. Quite comfortable and nice but would prefer it to be less baggy and a bit cheaper(below $25 would be good) rather than paying $31 for it. Fashionable and functional August 29, 2016 These are great swim shorts for my husband who is 6'2 220. They are great in the water and when you get out they dry quickly. He has gotten a number of looks from fellow swimmers if he is going to change into a bathing suit, so they look like normal shorts, but they do have the lining on the inside. Great at the Beach or in the pool. I would definitely recommend these swim shorts. Comfortable, stylish -- but with a caveat for skinny guys February 26, 2013 I bought the black swim short, which features white stitching. The look is quite smart (not "loud") and stylish for the beach. The overall fit and construction is very comfortable, but with the caveat that the drawstring has a *minimum* size. (More on that below.)-- LOOK --The white stitching (particularly around the faux fly area) tends to make them stand out as being swim shorts rather regular shorts, even if you're wearing a T-shirt that covers the external draw cord.I wore them on a recent (tropical) vacation while we drove around various outdoor sightseeing sites. They were passable as ultra-casual shorts in those areas where casual dress was not a problem, but if you're likely to venture anywhere away from the beach that requires a more respectable look (smarter restaurants, places of worship, etc.) you might find the white stitching makes you feel a little under-dressed since it'll be obvious you're wearing swim shorts and "going commando" beneath. ;) For the hotel swimming pool, beach and beachside attractions (cafes and casual beach restaurants, etc.), though, they're perfect.-- FIT --The fit is fairly straight and not too voluminous while out of the water, while still leaving plenty of room for unrestricted movement while swimming. The legs and backside are relatively slim -- not hugely baggy -- but not skinny. So if you're like me, with skinny legs and small backside, you're not going to look completely absurd like you're lost inside a huge black sack, which is the case with really baggy swim shorts. The hem of the Small size fell just above the knee on me (at 5'11").The mesh interior is a little closer-fitting than on some other swim shorts I've tried but I actually found I appreciated it, as it kept everything "under control" while swimming and (importantly) moving in/out of the water! The mesh is perfectly comfortable -- particularly the edges, which are well finished -- so no risk of chafing or rubbing despite the close fit. All in all, you won't even notice the mesh after wearing them for a couple of minutes.-- PRACTICALITY --The material has a soft hand. It is soft and completely flexible, not stiff or "crinkly". This mean it moves well while you're swimming, and falls well when you're out of the water. It's also soft in terms of the texture, with a very slight "velvet-y" feel to the surface. A benefit of all this softness is not only the comfort, but the fact that it's quiet when you walk. (Some swim shorts with stiffer, coarser fabrics tend to give you an obnoxious "swish" noise with every step, as the fabric of the legs rubs against itself -- not the case here.)The hip pockets are sufficiently deep to accommodate your whole hand -- not those shallow "half pocket" deals -- so there's plenty of room to hold cash or small documents if you're walking around on vacation. The mesh of the pockets isn't sewn to the fabric all the way around, meaning the pockets do move a little when you sit or swim (This is a good thing: the pockets fall to follow gravity, so your change and other items don't pour out of the pockets when you sit down. Similarly, it means stuff is less likely to fall/float out of your pockets while you're swimming, since the pockets will twist slightly to "seal" themselves.) The leg pocket has strong velcro and is sufficiently large to accommodate a typical glasses case or wallet. I had no qualms about the velcro keeping those larger items completely secure while buzzing around on a motorcycle. However, the velcro doesn't cover the entire top of the pocket -- probably only 50-60% of the top edge -- so I wouldn't recommend relying on it to keep smaller items in place (it certainly won't stop loose change from rolling right out of the pocket when you sit).-- CAVEAT : WAIST FIT--My one and only complaint about the construction of these shorts: the draw cord design. It's a little difficult to see in the product images (try zooming in on the waistband of the Classic Blue image), but the cord exits the waistband from two "flaps" that stick out from the waistband itself, situated a couple of inches apart. The cord draws these two flaps together, but once the flaps are pulled as close together as possible, you literally *cannot* get the waistband any tighter. It's not a simple cord that goes right around your waist and can be pulled tighter and tighter -- there is actually a MINIMUM waist size for each size of these shorts.I usually wear a 30"-31" waist. I chose the Small shorts (smallest size available), and they were just *barely* holding onto my hips sufficiently when tied as tight as possible. While swimming, I definitely felt that more water than necessary was flowing down the small of my back and under the band of the shorts -- I could feel the drag. While it was fine for goofing around in the sea and snorkelling, I wouldn't want to wear these to do laps of the pool and I *definitely* wouldn't risk diving into the water! If you wear less than a 30"-31" pant waist, these shorts will not work for you, period. Sorry. There is no way around this. (Unless you're a bit of a seamstress and actually want to take in the entire the waistband circumference yourself.)For everyone else, if you're borderline between sizes and aren't sure which to get, opt for the smaller size. Better to have them slightly closer-fitting than to have them getting dragged off your hips while swimming.-- OVERALL --I'd absolutely recommend these swim shorts for comfort, practicality and flexibility. Again, my only reservation is that they're completely unsuitable for anyone with <30" waist. Docked 1 star for that, otherwise they'd be a 5-star product. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 5% Too tight, get XL if you're an L May 5, 2017 Too tight in waist and snug in mesh, the only time I evee need XL, no idea why speed hasn't fixed this. Can you return such an item, I would if I could. Draw string does little good. They have an elastic waistband and stay on ... April 10, 2017 Draw string does little good. They have an elastic waistband and stay on okay otherwise. I wouldn't recommend head first diving in these though. Little tight.. March 9, 2017 Bought it for hubby in Medium but it was a little tight and short. He didn't like it. So, it had to go back. But overall quality felt nice only. Daisy Dukes September 7, 2016 Not terrible they do what they say they will as far as swim trunks go. They are however very short, keep in mind I'm a big guy 6'4 250lb these shorts came up at least 3" above my knees. Not my style at all but maybe it's yours Nice bathing suit, with liner, with fairly wide leg size July 6, 2015 These shorts are definitely nice, just not what I thought they'd be based on the description and pictures. Colour is great. Shorts also have a liner, in case anyone was wondering like myself. I ordered a size small-I'm around a 28-30 and these were just a bit large. If you are looking for shorts that are FITTED these aren't what your looking for. Leg length is slightly too long (close to the knee) and the leg width is too large, IE: these are similar to larger boardshorts and not a slim bathing suit. It fit him much better so it is his now July 9, 2014 Got it just before going on my vacation. I weigh 158 lbs and waist size 31. Got medium size which was bit large though with the string, it did stay on. My wife thought I look "dorky" as it was too baggy. Upon returning from vacation, I had my dad try it. He is 170 lbs and size 34. It fit him much better so it is his now. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% We sk elastic waist band. April 13, 2017 Love Speedo but this pair had weak elastic band. Need swim trunks that day so I kept them. Not for swimming July 16, 2016 First of all I cannot wear this and swim since it is wavy and does not stick with your skin.Somehow the size does not fit for my chicken legs :) Not ideal February 14, 2016 Had to return as the mesh inner was very restrictive which I found uncomfortable. He liked the look January 11, 2016 I bought these as a gift for my boyfriend before a vacation. He liked the look, the fabric, etc., but reports that the fit of the mesh lining is WAY too snug. He does NOT recommend these for men who need a little extra room around their privates. We returned them brand new. Much cheaper material as compared to a couple years ago November 18, 2012 I have a few of these exact watershorts purchased a couple years ago. The old ones were starting to wear and I was excited to see Speedo made the same watershorts. When they arrived I was shocked to find the materal is about half the thickness of the old ones and very clingy when wet (also unlike the old ones). I loved the old ones but dislike the new ones. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 2% Terrible looking fit September 4, 2017 Giving one star for fit issue. I wear a medium and these git perfectly. However the leg opening is suitable for xxl. Seriously unflattering. Wore mine once and now in the good will bin. Develop a bad smell if left to air dry December 8, 2016 I took these on vacation along with a different pair to alternate between days. I would leave these out to air dry, but they never did. By day three, they had a very bad smell. The material in not water resistant or quick dry. My other cheaper water shorts dried and did not smell. I would not buy again or recommend. Also, they run big. Gross after about a week of use. April 12, 2016 Doesn't rise out and quickly collected everything in the back of the bristles. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
