Five Star Reviews: | 54% Great! But base broken after several months August 16, 2017 Worked great til the bottom plastic part of the tripod base broke off. Let's see how they handle the warranty. Works great--lost less heat July 29, 2017 Works great. The old halogen lamp bulbs I had required frequent (costly) replacement. These will last must longer and they are a LOT cooler. I used my infrared thermometer on the halogen bulbs and the temperature was over 275°. These are much better. This fits perfectly for my workshop as accessory lighting - ... July 21, 2017 This fits perfectly for my workshop as accessory lighting - mobile, bright, low heat. May have to get another one! Good quality and very bright with a fair price. Will buy another one. June 29, 2017 Good quality and very bright with a fair price. Will buy another one. Used to light my old boat while I applied varnish ... July 27, 2016 Used to light my old boat while I applied varnish. You always want to keep a wet line and not have any holidays. The lights did the trick. would have liked it able to reach 6 feet at least March 24, 2016 Stand is short, about 4 feet. would have liked it able to reach 6 feet at least. Lights work great, better than expected. They stay cool even after being on for long periods. Can touch with out burning hands or fingers. | 44% Keeping Our American Flag Illuminatied April 14, 2017 I fly my American Flag 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, etc. This dandy light keep the flag lighted during the hours of darkness. Bright as I need April 16, 2014 After reading some of the other reviews, I was expecting the worst but for my use, this is exactly what I needed. I wanted something that I could use when working on my equipment from underneath, in a service pit. My other lights would drive me out of the pit with the heat build up and if I bumped the light, the bulb was toast. Now, not to worry, I've already had my LED light fall 2 or 3 times, no problem and I can actually hang the light next to my head when I need to. My order for a second one will be made very soon. Designers Edge L1306 108-LED Portable Bright LED Light November 5, 2013 Received mine, and all the lights work and so forth, Very light weight, and also cool in temperature! - I've wanted a garage light for a while, to work on the vehicles for body work and enhancement, and figured the high-spectrum blue color of bulbs would work well for this... After seeing the light and falls in the 65000 spectrum range, I bet these would be good for photo's of products and so forth for product pictures, considering it's a nice balanced low blue spectrum! - We have guys moving forward with photo enhancement of this light, and will update on our findings, but think these would make good photo lights, considering its overall spectrum! - Two of these, is a drop in the bucket, compared to the $2,000.000 I spent on lighting for the photo lab room, and bet these units would work better then even those, we'll see what the guys come up with, as they move forward! Thanks, Tad Bright llight & No Heat! October 12, 2013 So far theses lights are working as advertised. They are brighter than I was expecting them to be. even though I own several Mil-Spec/LE LED flashlights, it still amazed me. The rubber feet are soft enough that if you need to set them on your car's paint you shouldn't have to worry.. I just finished using them to light the inside of my car while I detailed it and the best part was it didn't turn into a sauna. The face of the lights do not get hot or warm evn for that matter. The side where the transformer is located does get warm, ever so slightly. But even after several hours of being on i think it would be safe to say that is to be expected and it was hardly noticeable. The on/off switch is a good touch since most shop lights seem to miss that simple concept. The adjustability is good and for now seems to stay where its put. Overall a good product. The company has several twin halogen lights on a stand/tripod if the would offer these lights with the same amount of adjustment mounted on a stand/tripod the would have had another sale. |
Four Star Reviews: | 20% Works well. Almost too bright. Lights detach from ... December 22, 2016 Works well. Almost too bright. Lights detach from stand to use by themselves. Handy and hangs from handle if you're careful. works well, kinda short February 24, 2016 As other reviewers said, this is a bit short. The max height is 4' 5" for the center of the lights. It'd be nice if it was a foot or so taller. Powersmith does make a taller one that is also 50% brighter - 6000lm, but it was quite a bit more money. So I got this one. I've used it several times. Works fine, puts out a good bright light, doesn't get hot or draw a lot of current. Switches are easy to use with one hand. It comes with a top handle that seems extraneous to me. To move it, just grab it by the upright pole, under the lights. It was quick & easy to put together. this light is very good. Very February 22, 2016 Overall, this light is very good. Very, very bright, and the biggest benefit vs. the old school Halogens is that these stay cool. No longer have to worry about knocking it over, or letting combustible materials (or kids!) come into contact with, searing hot Halogen lamps. Overall quality of construction is good. Cord is of decent length. I wish the Tripod stand was about a foot taller. at $119, it is a bit expensive, I'd think this should be priced around $80-$90 but, no regrets here. I don't think that anyone would be disappointed with this light. | 20% Fine for automotivd work April 9, 2016 I purchased to replace my shop light that I use for automotive work. This light is a little on the small side which is good and bad. The brightness is fair to good. One bonus is that it doesn't run hot which is nice when I'm working on a hot motor during the summer. Recommend for small hobbies. Great light December 4, 2013 Decent light output. It is not as bright as a halogen light but it also will not burn down the construction site. It puts out next to no heat. The housing is plastic, which is more than sufficient. It is really well made. Would give it 5 starts if it put out a little more bright light. The light is a little blue, not a clean white. I also bought the L1315 a little better Less LED's but brighter than this one. A nice lamp, but ... November 16, 2013 I ordered the 108-LED portable light with great anticipation. It arrived two days ago, so I tried it out. When compared with a halogen lamp it was a great disappointment. However, the description had made no such claims, and I had carelessly overlooked the fact that these are not CREE LEDs. The lamp functions exactly as advertized, and provides fair illumination for a small room (such as a bedroom). If you keep that in mind, you will be able to match this lamp to your needs. Very good value. October 2, 2013 I read all of the previous reviews on this product and did a lot of web research before I purchased this item.Got mine two days ago and have evaluated and tested it. Is it perfect for everyone?, perhaps not, but I really like it.The advertised specs seem very accurate, according to my tests.Light output rating is right at the 350 lumens, and color is right at 6,800k (cool-white). Power consumption is the stated 6-watts.So, How do you compare it to other incandescent units? I used a 350-watt, halogen work light of similar housing design that I have.I used a professional luminescence meter to make my tests. The 350-watt halogen light measured about 2,000 Lux, at a distance of 24" from the source. This unit measured 1,400 Lux at the same distance (70-percent). That's very good.Note that cool-white LED "light output per watt" range from 50-110 lumens/watt. This one is only 58 lumens/watt, so it's at the lower end of the range, but still very good value at this price point. You want higher light output efficiency, prepare to pay a higher price.Light distribution spread is about the same as my old halogen unit. Very adequate for general work area lighting. You hardly notice the slight difference in light output. After one-hour of use, the unit was still cool to the touch (room temperature), while the halogen unit would burn your skin to the touch.Yes, the light color is slightly cooler, but not too blue. The rated CRI (color rendering index) is only 69, while you want a rating of 90 or above for accurate color work, but that's no problem for general work area lighting. The unit is very ruggedly constructed and the only fault I found is that the power switch is rather small and somewhat difficult to operate. Looks like it can stand being banged around in a work truck environment with little risk of damage.I'm so pleased that I'm ordering more. not a halogen June 16, 2013 lets get to the guts of it... if you want to get a tan while working or think its fun watching your electric meter spinning like a helicopter blade, this light isnt for you. The fact that the light doesnt get hot is nice, I dont have to worry about leaving the skin of my fingers on the glass lol I bought these lights for a remodel, and currently am using them for the sheetrock phase. they give off a good clean light that shows the flaws on my project and thats all i need. Youll still feel like your indoors when using them though, but since i am indoors thats fine. Ive definitely noticed the milder temperature in the room im using the lights in. with my halogens, the house would be close to a 100 deg. by the end of the day. not these led's. yesterday i had to crawl under my mobile home and fix some sgabby plumbing and the light got drenched with no problems whatsoever not even steam off the lens. my halogens glass would have exploded. I gave it 4 stars as i nearly never give 5 and its not as bright as a halo. but the trade up in safety is worth it and its adequite light. |
Three Star Reviews: | 2% Short and wobbly January 27, 2016 Great light output with not much heat. However, the stand is super short and the system is somewhat wobbly. I estimate it between 3 and 4 feet. I'm sure it's in the specs if I took the time to really read them, but I was disappointed with how short it is. | 17% seen brighter July 14, 2017 i have seen brighter for less money this is the led bulb not that bright i think this is brighter (SUNZONE 10W 24 LED Portable Work Lights Flood light ) Three Stars June 19, 2017 Have had other brands that work a bit better than this one.. still it is good for the price.. Very good light May 29, 2017 Worth the price not as bright as other led lights but still good white ligjtlight Not that bright December 8, 2016 I bought this to replace my old school halogen portable light. I had hopes of it becoming my "go to" portable light, since it doesn't get blistering hot like my halogen light. But it puts out nowhere near the light that the halogen unit does. I see that there is a Snap On unit available on Amazon, and I saw this same light at Costco last night. I might be giving this one a try.I wouldn't buy this one again. Acceptable, lightweight, and priced well December 27, 2013 I have halogen work lights that provide me with the traditional ridiculous amount of light on a work site after dark but give off a lot of heat and have some inherent danger with small children around. The LED light eliminates the danger but does give us some of the flood capability. I wish it were easier to store - that it folded up in some way that reduced the space required as well as allowed it to be hung more easily (like against a wall) and provided some kind of built-in cord storage like a cheap Velcro attachment. But it does the job of lighting a work space reasonably well. |
Two Star Reviews: | 12% Was good until 1 of the 2 heads started flickering on/off August 30, 2017 Lasted 4 days. Was good until 1 of the 2 heads started flickering on/off.... Defective LED driver..Same as other reviews so it's a QC problem that powersmitth is ignoring...? Unhappy February 22, 2017 I specifically ordered this light stand because I was wanting one that was above my head to shine down on my work. This one stated it was tall enough. However, it was measured to the top of the extra handle (which I don't really know what it's for as the stand won't tighten tight enough to possibly use it for anything) and not the height of the lamps. So it's basically an expensive useless light for my needs. I'm very disappointed. Also, as stated before, the telescoping stand won't tighten enough to stay up where set. Night bright light and would be nice if the stand worked as should and was tall enough. It flickers on and off, making it unusable. My use was infrequent, 4-6 hours a week at most. LED lights should last much longer than 3 months. Unfortunately, I'm past the window to exchange it. Once again....I got what I paid for. Will be looking for a better quality light. | 10% wildly over-stated brightness September 29, 2016 considerably less bright than the enthusiastic listing would have you believe. This was literally less bright than a good 100watt light bulb, when the ad at the time I bought it claimed it was as bright as a 300w bulb lumens-wiseSo disappointing because it would have been a great value. only one out of 4 units I bought is still ... August 15, 2016 only one out of 4 units I bought is still working after about a year. I called Mfr but no one is answering Not very bright at all. April 6, 2015 I got his portable light to replace an old halogen type light that's very bright but generates so much heat I feel is dangerous to use. This light is made cheaply but more important is that it's not very bright. Mine came with a defective on/off switch so I returned it. Returned it--way too dim May 9, 2014 I should have looked more carefully at the lumen rating of this light--it is way too dim for my purposes. The stand is nice, as is the portability (although it is corded). But there just wasn't enough light. I bought a socket splitter and put a second 1000+ lumen LED A19 (regular socket) bulb in the ceiling fixture of my garage/workshop and have been much happier. Disappointed February 2, 2014 Not the quality that I expected based on reviews. After a few uses the cord came loose from the body of the light. A plastic nut inside the unit holds the cord in place. That nut came off so the cord was dangling from the back of the light. For a couple dollars more found a much better quality LED workshop light at Costco. Misleading description November 26, 2012 I bought this based on the description that it is equivalent to a 300 watt work light. When I plugged it in I was disappointed at how dim it was. It does have a nice cool white color, but for my needs it is nothing like my bright 300 watt halogen. The box states it is compared to a 175 watt. Even that is not even close. Maybe a 75 watt, no more. |
One Star Reviews: | 12% Poor quality. Arrived broken February 8, 2017 Poor quality. Arrived broken. Box was not damaged, but inside all the plastic pieces broken. Even if it did not arrive broken. Don't think it would have lasted long. A total, cheap, and dangerous piece of garbage. April 13, 2016 This is literally one of the worst made, cheapest products I've ever received through Amazon - since 1999. The only reason I haven't yet returned it is that a) I'm too lazy and b) I've already destroyed the box. One of the plastic rings required to tighten/loosen the main stand height adjustment broke the VERY first time I used it. Just cracked right in two, under very little stress. I've now wrapped it in duct tape so I can continue to make use of this piece of garbage. And if you lightly step on the cord? The lights flicker off/on - super. Makes me feel real safe! Honestly, you get what you pay for - and good lights are pricey. This type of quality and construction is below any acceptable standards. Amazon should sell this stuff only if they make clear that you are buying disposable crap. PowerSmith PWL2140TS LED worklight is reasonably good with one huge exception and that is the light ... December 20, 2015 PowerSmith PWL2140TS LED worklight is reasonably good with one huge exception and that is the light switches. There is complete lack of engineering and regard to human operation with the switch design and placement. Two hands are required to operate the light switches, one to hold the light assembly stable and the other hand to operate the switch itself. This is totally unacceptable, and shows a complete lack of consideration of the end-user. Additionally a number of the LED chips remain partially illuminated even with the power switch turned off. This apparently is caused by a poor electronic circuit design. Also moisture has fogged up the inside of one of the lights which shows a lack of adequate seals, and this occurred with indoor use. I would never use this light in a wet environment.I own one of these lights, but can not recommend this product to anyone. Garbage save your money. December 8, 2015 Overpriced China garbage. This is very very poorly made. Better options out there. Try the snap on led light. Much brighter and not POS. | 9% Avoid!!! I am so sorry I did not read reveiws before I bought this. October 30, 2016 I have cheap Harbor freight flash lights that I got for free that put out more light than this junk. Don't waste your money you will be disappointed. These work lights do not throw enough to light. ... October 29, 2016 These work lights do not throw enough to light. 1 halogen work lights puts out more light hand 2 of these combined. The light pattern on the wall is only about a 4 foot by 4 foot area. Not worth it. Buy halogen. And even after the lamp is unpacked for a month it still smells like plastic industry and your hand smells like it after ... June 3, 2016 Absolutely not comparable with 300 Watt and definitely to dark as a working lamp for painting. And even after the lamp is unpacked for a month it still smells like plastic industry and your hand smells like it after touching it. Not worth the name of work light... July 15, 2015 Terrible light. I have small flash light that makes more light than this thing. Returned. Nice small package and seems to be well built December 28, 2014 Don't expect much light from this LED. It might claim 350 lumens but that rating is highly questionable. Even in a low light environment it isn't very illuminating. Nice small package and seems to be well built. As far as I'm concerned this might be helpful only in small areas where conventional light isn't available, such as working on plumbing under the sink or something similar.Save your money and buy a $5.00 LED cap light instead. Pretty light, but not effective. August 19, 2014 This lamp is nearly worthless. I intend on returning it. I am used to using the similar sized "normal" halogen lights selling for $12 to $15. They actually light up a room. This light is dim, does not provide enough light to see your work. It may be cooler, and cheaper to operate...but if you need light I would suggest a different product. |
