very bright and with extra bulb
September 20, 2017
bright with extra bulb
Had this for the last 6+ months and used it SEVERAL TIMES alrdy for LONG periods of time. still on same bulb.
November 27, 2014
Highly recommended. Gives you some really great light especially in those hard to crawl and reach places like crawl spaces. It gets really hot, but that is normal. I bring this up bcs once your done using it for the day, make sure you let it sit separate away from everything else in an open space for at least 10-15 mins to let it cool down some. And absolutely DO NOT put it into a cold environment for the purposes of cooling it down after usage. You risk cracking the lense and possibly the light bulb. One great bonus, is that it comes with extra bulbs as well. I've had this for the last 6+ months and used it SEVERAL TIMES alrdy for LONG periods of time. My average period of time was at least around 3 hours on average per use. Still on the same bulb. The only thing missing is a longer cord. But that is typical & common with these lights from most companies that make them.Last but not least, this was especially a great value and great quality for price. It was Much better than I expected.
Lights up my work
June 21, 2014
One bright little light. My only complaint was no on/off switch. But one trip to the hardware store and that problem was solved. It has an extra bulb on the stand and is a solid work light. The price was awesome at Amazon and I'm sure I'll get years of use out of it.
Need a small lamp and bright light. Get this one.
March 5, 2014
This lamp is bright is awesome. My mother said you can land a plane with this.It is no taller than maybe a 1 foot but provides all the light you need.I got two but I believe I will only need one.It does put out a lot of heat so it is good for winters outside. The cord is short. It has to stay close to the plug.
Work well.
February 10, 2014
They are working great. If at first they don't work, flip the bulb around. We thought that we were doing something wrong but we switched the bulb around and it worked perfectly. There's no on/off switch and it does get very hot. We bought two and used them with an extension cord in our attic while we were putting in new insulation. No complaints, but if you're using them in an area with kis or pets, keep in mind that they get very hot. Unplug them if you walk away for while or take a lunch break. For the price, we couldn't be happier.
Great Deal
November 1, 2013
Super price for a quality work light. Came as advertised, including the extra bulb. Remember not to touch the bulbs with your bare hands as this "somehow" makes the bulbs burn out prematurely, but that said, the light assembled easily and works great. I bought two and they sure come in handy, can't go wrong!

Great for any job that needs lots of light
September 15, 2017
This thing is great. Will give you major spotlight in any area. Garage work, outdoor work at night, etc., this thing is awesome. Highly recommend! Only negative thing I'd say is it gets reeeally hot, so def don't touch it after usage or don't let any kids around it.
Bright Inexpensive Light for Dark Places
September 7, 2016
These are bright. The price is phenomenal. Good Quality. The only complaint that I have is that the lights do not angle to shine down so they are straight out at eye level. We have made some modifications on this. We always tether the light to a tree or solid object so it doesn't accidentally tip over.
Super bright spotlight great for barns and garages
October 28, 2015
I’ve been using this in a horse barn for several years now. It has held up well even though its been knocked around. The initial bulbs that I received with the lamp lasted well but that may be different for other users looking at other reviews. The tripod is sturdy but just be careful not to over-tighten the collars as they can break. This lamp is very bright and puts out a heck of a lot of light. The glass lens covers do get very hot so the guards are essential. Make sure to keep the lenses away from flammables.Overall, for the price, it is a great value.Pros: Very bright DurableCons: Tripod collars easy to over-tighten
these lights are terrific! They are not the highest quality
September 19, 2015
I got these for additional lighting for an evening HOA Block Party event in my community, and honestly didn't expect a lot for the less-than-$36 price of the lights, but I was blown away! For the money, these lights are terrific! They are not the highest quality, of course - they are not costing over $100 each like so many of their competitors. For the money, these are very good quality lights and they were relatively easy to assemble and worked perfectly. The lights swivel left and right, up and down, and you can use them low or raise them up more than 5 feet. Not bad for $36 each! The instruction book almost requires a magnifying glass, but any experienced workshop person can figure out how to assemble them almost intuitively - it's not rocket science, but does require attention to small details. No major complaints thus far - I am a satisfied customer!
Just initial impression- Very good value for the money
April 14, 2015
Just initial impression- Very good value for the money! I would not call it Heavy Duty as a unit, but neither would flimsy be appropriate as a description. A nice middle between them, and more than expected for the price charged. With just basic skills, can be put together in 15 minutes. Instructions weren't great, but all one has to do is look at the box and follow the pictures. Puts out tremendous light and gets very Hot! I would recommend using with caution around children. This is a very under-priced item I think. Of course time will tell, however, how long it lasts...I would also recommend be very careful with the bulbs. They should not be touched with bare hands, as any oils etc., will degrade them. Possibly causing failure.Update: Now after a over a year of use, I can report it is still going strong with little, intermittent use; Perfect for my needs. If one is using their stand for work duty, with frequent adjustment needed, then I would recommend spending more for higher end unit. Ease of adjustment is not this ones strong suit.
A Skinny Jay Review!!!
May 29, 2014
I use this light outside in my painting studio so that I can paint at night. I am very happy with it and would recommend it for anyone who needs a strong and bright white utility light for working. Here are my observationsPROS:Easy to put together - it took my about 10 minutes, the instructions were clear and simple.Stable - the tripod base sits well even on the slightly uneven dirt area where I usually place it. The dogs have not knocked it over, and that says a lot because these two beasts love to knock things over and break them.Very Bright - the bulbs that it came with are a very strong and bright white light. No none needs to worry if they will give enough light to work at night. You could put one at each end of a soccer field at night and the kids could play safely with no problem I am sure.Less Shadow - Because there are two head spaced about 18" apart, I can stand in front of it and my shadow does not black out what I am working on. What I mean is, my shadow is more of a transparent gray color and I can still see what I am working on because light from at least one of the heads will come in from the side.Light weight - easy to move around, fold up, and store. The handle on top lets me move it around with one hand easily.Amazing price - self explanatory. I bought it for $39.00 about. Even for twice that price I would have been very very happy with the light.I bought a pack of these replacement bulbs. Haven't had to use one yet, but I am glad to have them.Designers Edge L-15 Work Light Replacement T-3 Bulbs with Hard Case, 500-Watt, 6-PackOBSERVATIONSHot - I noticed that the bulbs put out a lot of heat. Not a bad thing, just an observation. The lights to have a cage on them, so it would be hard to touch the hot part by accident. This is not a heavy duty piece of hardware is my guess. It is perfect for home projects and small workshops and weekend projects. Not something you could throw around and beat up. But for the price, it is excellent.

Great light
August 27, 2016
Ordered this to hang in my basement for little extra light. Love the fact that it is angled, give a ton more light than just the standard light. Also came with an extra lightbulb and a little slot to keep it in attached right to the light so I am not loosing it. I was worried since I had never heard of the brand but it is heavy duty and easy to put together. Order it!
Really good value in high light output work light.and fairly true color spectrum
April 6, 2016
Assembles pretty easily and went into service right away. Does seem to be engineered to be water resistant and bash resistant. Pretty good price compared to cable fed LED lights at 10 times the light output. My previous experience with halogen bulbs has been pretty good so with the spare bulb tucked into the little tube below I can see there should be no issues with burnout.
Great light
January 3, 2016
Great light. I bought this to mount to the side of my house. I spray painted it to blend in and then used a remote switch so I could have this as a work/security light to for my yard when I want to "light it up" beyond our decorative garden type lights. The "power light" signs make it look cheap but those are removable and just held with set screws from the back. There are indentations in the front from where they rested but those look better than the signs. It is great that it comes with a spare bulb, also the design allows this to through bright light almost 180 degrees. From the back of my house to the end of my property is easily 80 yards and this works well to light up all the way to the back and then some. This light gets extremely hot being halogen so plan for it, I would say the grill/cage is more to prevent burns/fire than to protect the lenses or bulbs. After just an hour the housing is hot. I suspect the handle is wrapped in foam to prevent burns more than for comfort.
great one!
July 14, 2014
this light is a great one! just not for what I was planning on using it for. Im a drummer and I bought it for extra lighting in my drum room. I would recommend the led work light. I bought 2 from home depot, the brand is husky. back to this light...its a great one just know what youll be using it for.it does get hot but that's normal its halogen. it does give great amount of light. the light that comes out is a yellow white and not white like it is from the led one. overall great one! buy it!
Excellent work light
May 9, 2014
Only used it for a couple days so far, but definitely satisfied. Construction seems pretty good and the light functions as expected. The increased angle that it lights up as compared to a "regular" single bulb design is pretty impressive. I had picked up a cheap regular one at Lowes while I was waiting for this to arrive, and much prefer this one now. Very useful for work in a room without having to constantly adjust your light. It does come with 3 bulbs, so you have one spare to start with (and the little tube visible on the base crosspiece is made to store it, so you always have the spare with you).Only caveat is the usual one with Halogen work lights- it does get very hot. Careful how you touch it after it's been on for a while (and you're going to want some airflow to keep a room from starting to heat up).Overall if you want a simple halogen work llight, it's hard to beat this (or its brother with different wattage). Definitely superior to any I could find in local stores.
Great compact area light!
January 23, 2014
I use this light at night when guarding sites with no lighting. It is very good for this because it is extremely bright and because it has such a broad area of coverage. Much nicer than peering into the darkness all night. It's compact size and easy portability make it easy to carry around in my Jeep. You need to understand that this light gets extremely hot. Unplug it long enough before you want to leave that it will have time to cool down. Bouncing it around while it's hot will shorten the bulb life. I recommend you order the pack of replacement bulbs when you order the light. You will need them; it's a light, you are going to go through some bulbs. Changing bulbs is fairly easy if you can operate a screwdriver. Follow the directions and do not touch the bulbs with your bare skin. Body oils on the bulb will shorten bulb life. Some assembly is required when you first get the light, but it's easily done. I am very happy with this purchase and would buy another one if I needed it. I have banged this light around for over a year going from jobsite to home and back. I have changed two bulbs. It's a great little area light.

Good to have around
May 3, 2017
Nice pack of bulbs. I used hook and loop tape to attach them to the back of my light.
BRILLIANT - THOUGT OF EVERYTHING.
January 27, 2016
OK...first it's a great price and like someone else already reported - it would be worth the money even WITHOUT the bulbs. The case is terrific. Now something that the picture does not show is that each bulb has a paper tab wrapped around it so you can pull out the bulb without touching it - a critical requirement. The bulbs are very easily removed (because of the paper tab and the fact that they are gently cradled in the foam lined case. I've destroyed quite too many bulbs cutting them out of plastic over cardboard packacing while up on a ladder when I either dropped them to the ground or - no matter how hard I tried - managed to just barely touch them with my oily fingers. The tabs are NOT glued to the bulbs and easily tear away. If you forget to turn off the light before changing the bulb, no worry, the tabs burn off without damaging the bulb. When it comes time to replace the bulbs in the case (I've already replaced two), cut a piece of ordinary paper and make your own tab on the ground.GREAT PRODUCT!
Lives up to all of the reviews!
October 8, 2015
I was looking for replacement bulbs for my work lights that died right in the middle of painting my new apartment and found 2 packs at Home Depot and Lowe's, for slightly less than the 6 of these. Having read reviews for other lesser known brands on here I was a little leary to the quality of the actual lifespan of the bulbs. But after putting these to the test I couldn't be happier with the results! Granted, I only needed 2 bulbs for my work lights, but for the price, I couldn't pass it up! And the padded case ensures that they will still be in one piece when I need a replacement. I have already clocked in about 72 hours of actual use with these and they are going strong. I definitely recommend these and will buy them again when the time comes where I go through all 6 of them. Just remember to use the (included) paper grips to install your bulbs so you prevent your finger oils from grilling on the bulbs and creating hotspots that cause them to burn out prematurely. That is not one of those precautions that can be ignored and you may possibly get away with it. Your finger oils will burn them out once they reach a nice medium well/well temperature. And at that point A1 can't even save it.

Bright but hot work light
September 13, 2014
This light is exactly what I needed to illuminate my garage workshop late at night or extend the day by lighting up the back yard. It's pretty easy to set up and the operation is intuitive. It does, however, get really really hot. You'd be wise to not use this in any application that might put it near any flammable surfaces, because despite the grille on the front, this thing will burn you if you're not careful. That's to be expected with halogen though, so it's not a huge gripe. I would however, have liked an on/off switch on the unit, instead of just the "plug in and immediately on" operation as it is.
Great bright light for under $12
August 15, 2014
Good product-great price. Used it doing work in a crawl space - just don't get too close to the light source - hot as hell. Had mine on for over 6 hours over the course of 2 days - never 'overheated'. Bright flood-type light and up/down adjustable. Only downside is package says comes with a spare bulb - didn't find one in mine.
Quite a lamp.
April 19, 2014
I have a smaller version of this lamp and it is just right for small jobs. So I thought I would get a higher output lamp for a larger work area. Holy Moly this lamp puts out. It lights up my whole shop and it is a large shop. You better be carful for this thing gets very, very hot. It does what I bought it for.
Exactly as pictured, great for what you pay for
January 6, 2014
It is a strong light! Looks like the picture, and generously comes with an extra bulb. I purchased two, and 1 of the bulbs was busted but I still had another one to back it up so it was nice. These have VERY SHORT cords, so make sure you have an extension cord handy... but don't plug an extension cord into an extension cord- that will start fires. These lights definitely have the potential to start a fire so don't leave them on too long. They also aren't very movable, so the best way to control is position is with its height, it appears like it would be able to move forward and back, but doesn't do it much or at all.
Great Deal for the Price
December 8, 2013
I don't do five stars unless a product is above and beyond what I expected it to be. I bought these to use while painting the interior of our house and found them very adequate to do the job. I used the lights for hours on end and only had one annoyance. I wish the nuts that allow the unit to swivel up or down had some type of wing nut on them. After several times adjusting the lights either up or down the existing nuts became loose and the light would fall back and not only shine upwards on the foam handle...there was enough heat of course to see smoke coming from the handle. This means I would have to stop to tighten them back up. If they had the wing nuts, this would be less of an issue and less of an annoyance. But, other than that the lights performed as expected the entire time. It would be nice is there was an on off switch as others mentioned but this really wasn't an issue for me.
So far, so good
March 26, 2013
I ordered 2 of these lights at the same time. They arrived in one box. Both lights came with a spare bulb. The first light worked right out of the box, with no problems. The second light came with a broken bulb, but the spare one worked, so I have 2 working lights, I'm just down one spare bulb. We will see how ling they last and I will update this review after using them for a while.

Super Bright and Flexible But Too Hot for Close Work
March 31, 2017
Very, very bright lights that have the option of being on the tripod stand or comes off and you can just have the two lights alone. The lights can easily be swiveled or adjusted up or down and have easy-to-use big, plastic screws to lock down. I use these to help light up rooms as I'm painting the interior of my house. Why not 5 stars? A couple of reasons#1) These lights get HOT and I''m talking dang HOT! So if you need lights where you need to be close to them (like inside a car engine area) I'd suggest buying LEDs instead.#2) A very, very short power cord.
Great product
January 4, 2017
Awesome product. I needed to light the back end of my home during parties or other events and it did just that. Nice and bright. The stand adjust in height and each light can be swiveled in different direction or upwards. But cannot be tilted down. The only bad thing I'd say if you have kids be careful. Lights get very hot very quick. DO NOT TOUCH BULB WITH HANDS EVER! They're just like head lights on a car the oil from your fingers will break them immediately. But other then that awesome
all in all a good light for the price
December 28, 2016
Heads do not rotate down completely, a little tab on the frame prevents that. It can be bent in to overcome that, I'm sure its there for a reason but it doesn't work for my use, all in all a good light for the price.

July 21, 2016
I've ordered three of these lights for backyard parties. Our backyard is huge and gets really dark at night, this was the perfect solution. Helps light up the yard and let the party continue. We have also used it in the garage for shop work, and it didn't let us down. The only downside is that the bulb does go out quickly, which I was not expecting. Maybe it's just how these lights work, but even my husband was shocked at how quickly the bulb died and he's had other lights like this.
Works great, instructions aren't clear
October 24, 2015
These work lights are great for the price and very bright; they light up the whole garage which is perfect for working on and detailing the cars. I haven't used them too much yet, but haven't had any issues with busted glass or burst bulbs. They get hot but that's to be expected as they're halogen bulbs. On a flat surface it's sturdy on the tripod legs.It loses a star because the instructions for piecing them together aren't too clear...I ended up just looking at the picture on the box to figure out what goes where.
A Fine Addition to the Garage
January 2, 2014
My husband needed extra light in the garage other than the overhead fluorescent hanging lights. He also had a handheld light, similar to each of the work lights attached to this unit. But he always had to move it around, or hold it up with one hand and its use was limited. He set this up easily in a short period of time. I came out to the garage and he demonstrated how flexible it was, and shined the lights in various positions and was very pleased with it. It seems quite stable in spite of the fact that the lights are heavy and sturdy. I know some of the reviews commented on the fact that halogen lights put out a lot of heat, but in this case it's advantageous as our garage is well insulated but not heated. In the summer he gets enough light just from opening the garage door. He's used the light already for two little projects. (Which works for me!)

broken but usable.
Tight light gasket was hard to seat, but would highly recommend.
February 15, 2016
Great little light. Very bright, covers a large area. Screws are kind of cheap and since you need to compress the gasket so much, it can be a little challenging to get the screws to set. Very happy with the product though, would definitely buy again.
If you are looking for a good work light this one does the trick! May want to get one with a stand.
November 10, 2014
Overall I like this light, had a lack of directions but overall great light, puts out a tremendous about of light, LOVE the option that I can turn one or both lights on, just a solid light. I gave it a 4 stars because of no quick release on the glass/fence to replace bulbs...I just got this though so haven't had to replace bulbs. If it is once a year no big deal.
Ugly, but works
February 27, 2014
This is one ugly tool. It also happens to light up a room really well. No more running over to turn the light to follow me around the room. Nice. Selectable switches to turn on either lamp separately and a bulb storage tube. Would buy again.
Great light - tedious install
February 23, 2014
Like the title says - the tedious install is obviously only a one time thing, I suppose maybe I'm not used to purchasing things like lights that need to be put together. The instructions were clear, my brain was not however, so that might've had something to do with the situation. Took about 30 minutes total. The light works great however and although I didn't enjoy the assembly I would buy again if needed.
It comes unassembled.. The switch is all (on) or nothing (off) type. You CAN'T choose to use one (250W) or two bulbs (500W)
February 13, 2014
As for the the subject title, Just want to clarify things that manufacturer didn't disclose. Also, I couldn't see any where it's made so I guess it's made in China.Prosdecently bright work lamp...as I expected. After assembly, the lamp is very adjustable.Priced fair at around $35 with everything (tax, shipping, ect)ConsYou must assemble the grill, base, handle, and of course, install the bulbs. The grill required little force. BTW, don't look for the screws as most them are already screwed in.You have to unscrew some screws in order to assemble most of the parts. Instruction manual will NOT tell you that. Or exactly what or how many parts the package supposed to come with...Instruction was typically horrid. I built the thing just looking at the photo.Consequently I had this hollow curve metal rod that must go somewhere on the lamp, but there's no indication anywhere in the photo nor the lousy instruction manual....So I DO have a leftover part.Overall, it's a serviceable lamp, I will update this review for durability. It gets Three and a half stars from me.

Bulbs work fine but don't seem to last quite as long as the "name brands". Still, for the money, they are fine if the light is easily accessible to change bulbs.
mmmy thoughts on this product
January 6, 2014
for the price its a great deal , but like others the first bulb blew outwith in the first hour second bulb so far so good . the first bulb had whitesmoke inside the bulb then not much longer it blew out, but will see how long theylast but I suggest if you change the bulb use rubber glovesI would recommend this product it comes with nice hard case just don'ttouch the bulbs with your fingers.
Possibly worth the wait
July 10, 2012
I needed T-3 bulbs for some outdoor lighting. I was disappointed that it took nearly a week to arrive, but the hard case and the foam packaging inside the case is a big plus for protecting these bulbs. The bulbs are also wrapped individually in plastic so that it's pretty easy to keep your fingers off the glass during replacement. We'll see what the lifespan of the bulbs turns out to be.

was a pain to put together, gets extremely hot but I guess that's a given with halogen lamps. You can get one with legs at home depot, looks higher quality at home depot too. Does the job though.
Spend a bit more, get a much better light
June 1, 2014
This is a pretty cheaply made light, with no power switch, and is a bit of a pain the butt to assemble. The light bulb arrived broken but they did thoughtfully include a spare. That being said, it did stay lit for a project we had. It gets so hot that it doubles as a bug zapper.
It works fine, but...
May 14, 2014
....don't expect it to be the same unit that you can find at a brick-and-mortar store. Although it does provide the same amount of illumination, it is smaller and lighter than the conventional one. However, it still emits the same candlepower!
Good for the price...
June 28, 2013
Well, the first thing you'll notice is that the product pictured on the box, on the Amazon page and in the instructions isn't the same product that's actually in the box. Of course it's still a yellow 500 halogen light; but the the "stand" is modeled quite differently, so your single sheet of instructions won't help you out. Fortunately, it's not too hard to work it out on your own. The instructions also don't bother to tell you how to install the bulb, so if you've never worked with these kind of lights before, expect to spend 30-45 taking the bulb out, turning it around, sticking it in another way, and plugging it in to see if it works yet before you actually get it to emit any light. You have to keep plugging it in and out, you see, because there's no on/off switch. Most similar halogen lights I've worked with have big power buttons. Not this one; it's lit the entire time it's plugged in, and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it. That's not a huge problem, but it's less convenient and feels cheap. The cable is also very short. Like, surprisingly so. You'll need to get an extension cord for it in almost all circumstances. So it's not the greatest. But you're probably looking at it because it's only $14. Well, this light does what it's supposed to and it's bright and vertically adjustable. So if you need a cheap light, this'll do, and when you consider that you're getting two bulbs and a sturdy metal light and mini-stand, with the grill accessory for such a low price, it IS a good value. But if you're building a lighting package for yourself, you'll probably find it's worth spending a few more dollars for a nicer experience (i.e. a longer cord and an on/off button).
Was a little less than expected
December 1, 2012
The light burned out the original bulb after only 20 minutes use. The light has not been dropped or abused at all. It does come as described, but I have found so many for far less money locally that I would recommend checking with the local suppliers first and then compare. I ordered a cooper double light with a stand at the same time and the improved quality of the cooper is very noticable. The 500 watt lights do make nightime work very safe and large jobs are very possible due to the light's 50 to 60 foot working range, maybe more.

Decent light but one bulb came broken/nonfunctional
November 1, 2017
We ordered these to light up our driveway on Halloween. The package arrived in a timely manner and the box had some minor damage to it but the lights appeared undamaged. One of the bulbs did not work when we tried it out. We tested the one working light bulb on both sides and it worked fine so one bulb was bad.It only took about 10 minutes to put together and provided great light for the driveway. For this price compared to some sold at hardware stores, it was unbeatable. Only wished that both bulbs that came with it worked.
Not happy with that
June 19, 2017
Bulbs burnt out within a month. We haven't replaced them yet, but only used a few times. Not happy with that. Otherwise a good lamp, maybe but some spare bulbs before purchasing
I'm not completely happy
November 12, 2016
The light looks good haven't used it yet but unfortunately when I was putting it together the telescopic stand had a broken lag support. I'm pretty sure that it had to be from the factory because the box that it came in was fine and the box that Amazon put it in is in good shape to. I'd send it back if I didn't really need it right now. Hopefully everything else works OK. I'll update this after I get a chance to try it out
bad quality control
May 25, 2016
this is a replacement order. the first order came with a hole in the box, one light bulb not working, and a broken plastic base on the tripod. the replacement order is also missing one screw that holds the light to the base. got a replacement screw from the hardware store since it will be used within a couple of days and i dont have time to get another replacement. the replacement tested good, but quality control is not doing their job right.

January 13, 2016
item came broken. one of the tighten sleeves for the pole doesnt work so it only stays in 1 position and i can pull it to go higher but i cant lock and so it just drops. runs EXTREMELY HOT!!!! be fore warned, DO NOT go close or touch while using. really good during winter cuz the heat output helps in the cold garage.other than receiving it broken it does what its suppose to.would i buy again? probably not, look elsewhere and spend the extra on an LED flood light similar to this. its soo hot and since it has a broken lock sleeve i hardly use it. waste.
What Light? Dim Dim Dim.
May 28, 2014
These are dim and they arrived with missing parts. I took the advice of other reviewers and installed 150 watt quartz halogen bulbs. The design of the unit prevents it from illuminating an area to what is should be able to do. I would not buy these again, a really bad design!!!UPDATE: 06/15/2014It has been 3 full weeks since I started using these. I leave these lights on for a total of 7 hours continuously every night. I have the 150 watt bulbs installed, and the fixtures work without massive heating up, in terms of electrical components. They are used to light the front yard of my house because I live in a deadly area of Detroit. Worse thing is, the stinking state government of michigan appointed a new lighting commission to oversee the Detroit Mi failed bankruptcy. To my total surprise, they took a street light from area in front of my house, that has been there for 60 years. Now I am afraid because I can't see a thing in front of my home. These fixtures help some, but they don't replace a street light!

Easy to assemble, decent light. Screws easily come apart. I had to put thread lock on the screws.
Bright light, low to ground, caution gets hot
January 27, 2016
Good amount of light, instructions a little confusing. Light has adjustments, but is very low to the ground and of course gets very hot. I will look if they sell a sturdy stand I can mount this to. I should have considered an LED light instead

December 28, 2015
Assembly was a bit of a hassle, and you really gotta crank em to keep the light in place. Maybe I'll add a rubber washer or something along those lines to make the light stay in place easier.

I'm giving it as a Christmas present so I really can't say yet how it works.
Defective switch
April 30, 2015
Had to return due to faulty switch to turn it on, I put it together, put bulbs in plugged it in and a light turned on so I tried to turn it off but did not work the other switch worked perfectly, the item looks great and sturdy and came with extra bulb and has a compartment attached to the fame for the extra bulb, the light is super bright.
overpriced
November 6, 2011
Not a bad work light. I suppose the wider angle illumination is a plus, but for about half the cost of this light I could have gotten one from Home Depot. This light gets very hot. The grill that protects the whole apparatus is sturdy, but be warne that also heats up pretty quick.

Nice box, but it still flexes and will result in a buld or two breaking.
December 2, 2014
When I opened the box I found one broke. the box you put them in is not that great, it does bend and flex ( its light plastic ) The other bulbs seem ok. The packaging could have be better though. , Next time I 'll just buy them local.
50% yield
April 24, 2014
The first order I received on bulb with a cracked end and two others had a broken filament. I returned that one and the replacement order I received two with a broken filament. Decided to keep it since it was a 66% yield vs a 50% yield. Shipping on these things kill these fragile items so good thing it comes in a 6 pack.
First bulb I put in broke on me.
March 21, 2014
First bulb broke on me. The white end cracked off pretty easily. Handle with care so that it doesn't break on you. The 2nd bulb worked fine.
These are OK but....
January 2, 2013
These lights work as advertised but they also get very hot and the ends which are ceramic get brittle and crack which in my case causes them to lose their connectivity to the light socket and go out. So you might not get the full life of the bulb

Works fine, but the bulbs break relatively easily. We bought some LED work lights from Costco which are only 25 Watts and just as bright for ~$30. I never use this light anymore.

I like the style and unit but was unhappy because one of my units came broken. The piece that holds the metal guard for the light. I had to use special blue and got it to work somehow.
broken
December 16, 2012
I also received this light broken. The external mailing box was intact, but the box inside had obviously been dropped prior to packing. It was frustrating because whoever boxed it up, had to have seen the damaged box and could hear pieces rattling around inside. We opted for a refund, but Amazon was great and timely to get our refund back to us.
Not well built
June 26, 2012
The light part works very well, however the shell and the stand is made of very cheap material. It is very tricky to get the protection cage on the light, and a small piece of plastic that is on the rim of the light cover broke off. I really needed the light and it was a minor part to the light the helps hold it on so it was still usable. The light that it puts off is very bright and from that aspect it is very usefull. I just don't see it lasting for very long.

Its a very nice light set
January 25, 2016
After about 20-25 hours of use, one of the light boxes have stopped working and the other light has burned out. They do give an extra bulb, so I can replace it, but I'm thinking it will burn out just as quickly and I'll only have one light anyway. Its a very nice light set, but I think I'll end up spending the extra cash and get an LED set. I'll most likely reuse/repurpose the stand.
Connector melted when the light burned out.
January 27, 2014
I know the oil from your fingers can cause lights like this to burn out easily, so I was extra careful to make sure I didn't touch anything directly. I bought this light 6 months ago, and one of the lights just burned out. It melted the connection point for the light when it did, and it's dead in the water now. I tried filing the connection down, but that didn't work either. I haven't tried an LED light yet, but that's what I'll be buying this time.Side note: This is my second set of these lights, and both were ruined in the same way. I don't remember the brand of the first set though.

trashy manufacturing but functional

typical chinese products lately,, adjustment knob bolt does not fit into groove and had to grind slightly to get it right---this is how their quality is of late--parts that don't fit or leak and they LEAVE it that way shafting the buyer! Otherwise, the light functions but even the the description is misleading--it's not double watt 500--it's double 250 watt making 500 watts------Amazon-most of the time --you do excellent policing your products----you can do better-dealing with these thieves!
Bright light though mount was unusable & damaged
December 23, 2012
Purchased the light for my father for the holidays. It functions when plugged in and is bright. The box was shipped in a larger amazon brown box, with no packaging material between the units box and the amazon box. The internal box was heavily damaged when it arrived. The unit itself is bolted to a V connector which then connects to the base. Where the main unit connects to the V connector, one side was completely ripped off, as in there is a gap and no way to affix the V connector. This makes the unit unable to use the bottom mount. To avoid hassle of having to send the entire unit back, the light will be used as hand held only, but it makes me question the durability of the entire unit. No diagrams or instructions are included in the shipment.I gave the light 2 stars as it functions as a light, though -3 for the fact that the mount was damaged upon shipment.

This broke after about 16 hours. I was just working and heard a crack. The glass shattered. it wasn't struck with any thing, nor was it even close to where i was working. just exploded. the light still works, but without a glass screen it's too much of a fire hazard to use.
Avoid spend a few bucks more and get something better
May 30, 2015
Fire and burn hazard. This thing gets so hot you can heat a room with it. I wouldn't do that however since it is wobbly and can easily tip over. If it were to come in contact with anything flammable you can expect a fire in short order.

Very poorly manufactured Two key components (Tripod mounting bracket and Handle mounting flange) out of plumb by approx. 10-15 degrees, precluding correct mounting. This quality is what I would expect from Harbor Freight, who happens to offer a similar product for $35.I'll give this one star because both lights actually did light up.

January 30, 2016
This light is awful... After about 3 weeks of use the tripod started to fall apart. About a week after that, I was replacing bulbs every week. About a month after that the entire tripod broke and it went flying in the dumpster. I treat my tools very well and still this thing just fell apart. I tried to contact the manufacturer for spare parts and that got no response. It's a sad day when you can't find a good work light that will last more than a few months. Switching to LED lights!
If you want to buy something better in less then 6 months don't purchase these lights.
July 13, 2015
Purchased these lights in February 2015, buy July 2015 with minimal use they shorted out. Purchased 3 sets, they blew out the bulbs during this time, by July didn't work. They say you get what you pay for, it is true on these lights. Don't buy them unless you want to purchase something better in less then 6 months with minimal use. Save your money and get something better, learned this lesson the hard way.

December 21, 2016
Mine was defective or I never got the bulbs in correctly, it never would turn on. I've used halogen lights and changed bulbs prior, but this one just didn't turn on so I'm really not sure what the problem was. There are so many steps to putting it together and I tried several times. Even bought new lamps to put in just in case that was the problem, but they didn't work either so either I've lost my touch at changing lamps, or the unit was just ddefective. There was a reset button and I tried that too, to no good outcome.

Dangerous, Use at Your Own Risk
October 23, 2015
After assembling this thing and approximately 15 minutes after turning on half the light, the glass shattered and spewed everywhere. Fortunately, I was far enough away and didn't get cut. Also, the aluminum that is used to reflect the light is thin, cheap and poorly assembled and could cause sliced fingers. That being said, I regret buying it. This light has too many safety hazards and is basically dangerous.

Not for designers edge umbrella heat lamps
August 29, 2016
These are bulbs for work lights not the designers edge heat lamp product. While they will fit and light up the area beneath the fixture it is like having a police helicopter fly over, hit their search light while looking for a perp in your back yard. The bulbs in my unit like the designers edge product are ruby quartz bulbs that are rosy red in color when lit because they are infrared and do not heat the air like these std quartz halogen white ones do.Do your homework and do not buy these bulbs unless you have worklights that need bulbs. THEY ARE NOT INFRARED!!!!!!!
