Every guitar player has one.
September 19, 2017
What can you say, it's a BOSS.. If you want Distortion, here's the place to find it.. Start here and build up.. Great price on this pedal too. A lot of the sound will depend on your guitar and your amp, but you can taper that sound with this pedal. And maybe a Bad Horsie 2, or a Cry Baby.. But this will get you in the ball park.
The settings are easy to deal with
August 6, 2017
I was looking for a pedal to use playing rhythm guitar. Nothing fancy or complicated. And with reasonable battery life. I have used this pedal now for 4 gigs and it does exactly what I wanted. The settings are easy to deal with. Battery life is excellent. I trust that it will hold up to regular use for a long time.

April 16, 2017
I just got this today but I gotta say I love it already. I hooked it up to a vox ac15c and baby it sounds like the metal I know and love. You can also turn down the distortion for a more moderate tone. My first pedal!
This is a great buy, I would totally recommend it to friends

This is a great buy , I would totally recommend it to friends. It gives great sounds and ease of use for dialing in settings. It soinds good on my 10 watt amp.
Great pedal, use it for guns n roses
November 16, 2016
Great pedal, use it for guns n roses, pink floyd, etc. The only problem is that if you leave the input and output cables in, it drains the battery even when off. So, I have to unplug it every time I stop using it. It's not a big deal, just went through a few batteries until I realized. Could be a faulty pedal, but I can live with it.

Very good pedal
February 24, 2017
Very good pedal, nice sound!
It might not be the trendy pedal this week but who cares what the hipsters are using anyhow...
January 14, 2017
If you want to use a pedal that's probably only slightly different than what they were using back in the 60s then this is your pedal. Built like a tank. Heavy. Sturdy. Classic effect. Can't complain in the slightest.
Great platform to mod.
November 30, 2016
From the factory. These leave a lot to desire. For a few bucks, you can add true bypass and mode the board for way less than the cost of a higher model. Plus it makes it that much cooler knowing you modified it yourself.
No matter what tweaks I make to the built in Wah it just doesn't get that sound like the Crybaby
August 12, 2016
Let me put it to you guys this way. Shortly after I bought this pedal I acquired a highly intircate pedal system. Complete with Wah effects and USB hook up.I still use the Crybaby over the built in Wah. No matter what tweaks I make to the built in Wah it just doesn't get that sound like the Crybaby.Do yourself a favor, buy it. You want those Kirk Hammet and Zak Wylde sounds? The Original Crybaby is your answer.
Wah wah wah

This baby makes my Gibson cry out loud. Hendrix, Clapton, Winter, Page. You can sound like them. Put that pedal to the metal.
Lots of Fun
February 25, 2016
This is the real deal. No bells and whistles. You can get a cool "wah" out of it or just move it to a certain position to get a great effect (there's a name for that, I just can't remember it). Also lots of fun just to screw around with and drive your wife crazy. Built like a brick .... house. Highly recommended.

Reasonably Good For What I Needed
April 15, 2017
These work perfect for me. They fit easily in to my 1/4 inputs, unlike others have mentioned. These probably would not do if you need your pedals real close together. But in my case I built my own pedal board, and I like the distance between the pedals. These cables also controlled some of the noise I was getting from my other cables. I generally am not finicky about these type products. I just know real expensive cables don't make a whole lot of difference to me. But I have come across some horrible cheap ones.
Real rubber, not hard plastic.
April 3, 2017
Impulse buy while ordering a pedal: these are the NICEST cables I've seen in a long time! They black rubber coating on them is very soft, they're not hard, cheap plastic.Very good!

Hooks up easilly with my pedals and amp and is pretty cheap. In terms of cables you really do not need any special kind and so this was perfect for me.

March 13, 2017
Nice little set of 3 patch cables. Really like the 90 degree ends so the pedals can sit closer together.

December 20, 2016
Does exactly what I need:Connect pedals reliably on my custom pedal board. Will need more...
Working great!
May 16, 2014
i got two packs of these and all cables work just fine. I don't have any problems with them like some other reviewers had. After reading some of those reviews I was expecting I might have to return a few cables that might not be working and that's why i got a double pack so I would be left with some working ones. But I'm glad that all are fine and I'm already using all 6 of them in my pedal chain. They are nice quiet, look great and feel sturdy enough to last for a while. I will definitely buy more of these once I expand my pedal board again and i highly recommend these.

Good Value
September 18, 2017
Great pedal. It gets super scratchy when recording direct into a DAW. I typically have to roll off some treble in post EQ or just on my amp. I bought this as a back-up pedal incase my amp footswitch went out. Used it for a gig and it does a solid job, although some palm muted guitar notes sound a bit wonky - but most would never notice. For what this pedal is, and what it costs, its a great value for the price.
It wasn't bad just not quite the distortion sound that I wanted
August 7, 2017
I tried this pedal out with a couple of different amps and overall the sound was not to my liking. It wasn't bad just not quite the distortion sound that I wanted. It was an easy to use pedal and did what it said it did.
Great pedal!
June 14, 2017
Just recently made a pedal board. Bought this guy because it's a staple when it comes to guitar pedals in my opinion. While I'm more a fan the dirty channel from my tube, I'm sure I'll find use for it.
Every guitarist needs one!
April 26, 2017
One of the finest distortion pedals ever created. Cheap, too. An industry standard. Every guitarist needs one!.This one had a minor defect where one of the knobs was coming off, but you could still turn it like it needed to and really it was just some minor cosmetic damage.
Clockwork orange
June 10, 2015
I use it with a squier telecaster deluxe and it sounds awesome. I feel the classical distortion like alternative mucisians use (and other genres). The only thing, that I dont know how to solve it, is this pedal suck the effect from my wah wah pedal. If I want use my wah, I have to put this DS-1 out from the pedal chain
but I fell in love with it
October 4, 2014
It's not exactly the sound I was looking for to begin with, but I fell in love with it. It's not a really tight or clean distortion. It definitely has an old school metal vibe to it. However, I run the DS1 in front of a Jet City distortion and it's just perfect. The way that this one kind of gargles with the super trebly crunch of the Jet City is just perfect. The only reason I gave this a 4 star is because it's just a little to gargley for me as well as being extremely loud when not being played through.

Not much to say about this one, we all know this is this is the gold standard. The price is decent and you know exactly what you're getting with no surprises. As you know there are newer models with more features and adjustment capabilities but since I focus exclusively on playing RUSH this is all I need for very minimal uses such as the solo in The Spirit of Radio solo.
wah wah groove
November 20, 2014
I like this pedal, GCB 95 is a classic pedal for a classic sound. Check www.electrosmash.com/crybaby-gcb-95, for tech info and possible mods. There are a few great pedals out there depending on personal tastes and styles, and this one has withstood the test of time for its popularity. You might also consider Dunlop ECB-003 9VDC power which is an inexpensive and reliable power supply for your pedal so a weak battery wont affect the consistency of your sound.
Awesome!
January 28, 2014
Was originally gonna puchase the 535Q CryBaby, but I've never used a Wah pedal and I imagine I wouldn't need all the settings at this time so I decided to go with the Original GCB-95 CryBaby to get accustomed to it and it was half the price. I did two day shipping and got it in one which was awesome. Tested it out and I fell in love with it immediately still getting used to it but I definitely do not regret this purchase. I also bought it the adapter with it and good thing I did, I didn't realize that a 9V battery was also not included with it. That is probably my only gripe but thankfully crisis averted and all is well. I recommend this to anybody looking for a solid and affordable Wah pedal.
Cry Baby - Cry No More!
November 1, 2011
I couldn't wait to open the box when the pedal was delivered. It was well packaged so upon opening the box it was not surprising to see the pedal intact and ready to go. After putting in a 9v battery and powering up my equipment the sound that came out of the pedal to the amp was extremely clean. With a little practice I have been able to become quite adept at making those great wah sounds of the 60's and 70's.The only CON is that I would have preferred to pay a little more to get the Dunlop ECB-003 AC Adapter instead of having to order it seperately.Overall, great product, easy and timely shipping.

One had some kind of rubbery stuff on it. Lucky I had some cleaner. Other wise it could have gummed up the fuz box plugs I put it on. Other then this minor annoyance they work fine.
They work great
July 5, 2017
Works great with my pedals, definitely don't shove in quite far enough to click-lock, but they shove in far enough to work. You could always trim a little plastic off the casing if you need a firmer connection. They work great, that's the important part.
Bulky but durable - no signal loss
May 21, 2017
I have had these cables on my board for several years now, so that speaks to the durability of them. The only reason they get 4 stars is because they are a little bulky.Yes, there are thinner cables out there but I bought these for the price. There is no signal loss with these and they are very rugged. If you have the space then get them!
Well Made, But......
June 9, 2015
I like the Planet Waves line of cables, a quality product with larger than average connector bodies. The beefy connector is easy to grab and is great for my guitar cables, but..... they don't work well with my pedal board, which has cut-outs in the foam that determine the spacing between the pedals The PW jumpers won't work if the input of one pedal lines up with the output of the pedal next to it, the cable ends are just too bulky for that. I had to use the (lesser quality, but smaller) jumpers that came with the board (a Behringer). They should work great on pedal boards that let you determine the spacing between pedals.
Excellent cable, right angle connectors are just a little big
March 31, 2014
These cables are quiet and work great but the connector plugs are very large and take up too much space on a tight board. On the pro side these cables are 6" from plug to plug not jack to jack so they're LONGER than some other 6" cables.
Bang for your buck
June 7, 2011
I bought a bunch of these when I started building my pedal board. They're very inexpensive, but seemingly quite high quality.Tons of bang for your buck.Seemingly no tone loss, no added noise, and no coloration. The right angle ends are a little big and bulky, they may not do so well on a tight and jam packed board. But for average boards they work great!I gig and record with these. Great product!Only negative check b/c the ends are too bulky.

Good for certain applications
August 25, 2016
I should say first, that I do not play out much. I am a fanatic about my gear, but for no other reason than I simply love the guitar. I play through a Fender Blues Deluxe all tube 80 watt, 1x12 amp. I play mostly an American Standard Strat and at times, an American Standard Telecaster and Les Paul Custom. Most of the time I use my second channel cranked for a distorted sound, and use an Ibanez Tube Screamer for that crunchy sound (ala SRV). But there are times when I want a hard nose distortion, but not that deep crunchy driven sound. This is when the DS-1 comes into play. It does have a high pitch treble sound, but that's not a bad thing if that's what you are looking for.The moral of the story is that the DS-1 is a great pedal if you use it for the right purposes. Don't expect a rich low end zone and you will be happy.

Didn't see in the instructions that it might get shipped this way or just bad quality control
September 23, 2017
Pedal didn't respond when first used, was ready to return as defective when I noticed something rattling around inside. Disassembled the back/bottom and found a small screw and piece of plastic that holds the flat tooth thingy against the round gear had come unscrewed. Didn't see in the instructions that it might get shipped this way or just bad quality control. Reattached those parts only to have to disassemble again to adjust the switch (raise slightly) because top much pressure was required to activate on/off switch. But this might be a person to person choice. Pedal sounds good.

Wah works, feels durable, but makes a bad creaking/squeaking sound when working the pedal.
September 1, 2016
This wah works, and sounds good. However, after just a few months, it's very squeaky. Might be hard to hear from on stage, but when I'm rehearsing and practicing it just shrieks and creeks badly. Maybe WD40 will solve the issue, just not sure if I want to spray anything into the inner-workings of the pedalAnyone ever deal with this squeaking?

slip out too easily for some pedals
November 6, 2017
They are working patch cables, but they aren't as snug as some of my other cables. They slip out easily from a few of my pedals. I recommend the low-profile right angle cables. You can get your pedals closer together and they go further into the jacks.
not quite long enough
May 5, 2017
at least for me they are borderline useable as they are not long enough need another 4" on thier standard cause my pedals are almost stackled on top of one another
Good for a beginning pedalboard.
December 2, 2016
I originally bought these before upgrading to some George L cables. These are good for someone just starting out with their pedalboard or someone trying to keep costs down. They stick out quite a bit, so there becomes less room on your board for pedals. They're also not nearly as good as the George L's are for tone, but you get what you pay for.
its not that great.
December 14, 2015
Meh. No clue why they have 5 stars. its not that great.
Would Greatly Benefit Tight Pedalboards by Being Smaller, but Otherwise Perfectly Fine
November 18, 2015
These cables work and seem well built, but after spending some time with them I find that the large heads often get in the way on my rather cramped pedalboard. If pedalboard space is a concern for you, you may want to look at the Hosa patch cables or other more low-profile options. If you've got plenty of room to spare, or it just isn't a concern, these are fine audio cables and reasonably priced.
Good quality but too Bulky
March 16, 2015
These were a good price for 3 cables, and they do seem good quality. The 3 star rating is due to how unnecessarily BULKY the 90 degree plug is. Its impossible to get my pedals snug against one another and tuck the patch cables between due to. I have ended up only using ONE of the three, and trimmed some of the rubber off the end of one so it can bend better, so it can make a tight right angle out from my volume pedal. I don't reccomend this though, as it is obvious I weakened it. I will be buying a kit to make a couple patch cables myself from Lava Cable or George L; pricier but so handy when you have a tight (full) pedal board like I do.

Picks up radio waves for me.
September 5, 2014
Nice design, but does not work for me. From my street, I can see a small amount of radio/TV towers. In high gain situations, I could hear broadcasts of some sort in my amp. Bought something with metal housing, removed these from my signal path, and life got better.
One works, two don't.
August 1, 2013
I read the reviews and figured it'd be a good "bargain" to purchase the product. The product came as described, and it came in a timely manner in good packaging. However, after plugging it in to my pedals, one shorted out and refused to work. I tried another one, and it worked fine. I re-tested the first cable, it still didn't work. The third one doesn't even pick up the signal entirely, so I get a weak sound through my amplifier. Like I said, it's worth the bargain price, but you might as well pay a few extra bucks to get a single, top quality cord. Maybe I just got a bad batch. *shrug*

Like others have indicated, the plugs are not snug with the jack. Also they do not handle any sort of gain, and the shielding is terrible. Any touch or tap of the cord is amplified by the pedals in the chain and heard through the amp.

Tips don't clip into standard 1/4" plugs
December 27, 2015
A number of other reviews state that these cables keep popping out of pedals. The reason is that these plugs are not sized right for standard 1/4" mono plugs to the point where the contact does not clip into the tip properly. (See the attached photos. Black cable is Planet Waves, while the other is your average 1/4" patch cable jack.) The molding around the plugs prevents them from pushing in far enough to clip properly. While a cable tester registers these as contacting properly, I don't like the idea of them not clipping into the tip and eventually pushing back the contact to the point where the jack needs to be replaced. They will also pop out just like other users have experienced. Therefore I won't be using these. It's too late to return them so unfortunately I've wasted my money. Hopefully you read this and don't make the same mistake.

Plug slips right out of any jack
October 3, 2013
I thought it was my jack for a while, then I noticed it wouldn't stay in any pedal. There is no "click" assuring that the cable is in place... and there's a reason for that, it isn't! Slips right out of every pedal I have. Not reliable.
