Well made for the price and they work very well for the kids to use.
Great for the price
December 14, 2015
For as cheap as these things are, they worked great. I picked up a small glockenspiel at the local salvation army for $15 and wanted to see if it sounded any good. These were just the things needed for fun little jam sessions with my roommates. I cant imagine they would be any good on anything large, but for the small metal bars, it works great
Great!

Way better than these other plastic yellow mallets I had. I use them for a glockenspiel and they have a really nice sound to them!

These mallets are great for soft playing the xylophone or marimba
December 13, 2014
These mallets are great for soft playing the xylophone or marimba. When played loudly they have a slight ''punch'' to the articulation yet with a softer quality in the sound. Recommended for a warmer, less percussive tone quality
Makes a nice sound!
November 23, 2013
I got this product as a back up for a xylophone I got. Not knowing anything about music or playing an instrument, I've had so much fun playing with the kids and learning with these! The sound is soft and sweet with their rubber tips and they are well made!

They're fine. Worth price. Just didn't pay attention to the length.

Nice mallets. Don't expect to hit full size drums with these, the sticks are short. I use it for glockenspiel and it gives a nice sound. The sticks are a stiff, yet flexible plastic.
Good mallets for the price

I bought these to use on an old wooden key xylophone I am trying to restore. They are sturdy built and tap the keys well. I do prefer them over the wooden mallets because of the softer sound

I've bought several pairs of these mallets. They work fine for my purposes (i.e. child's toy wooden drum), but note that they are shorter than professional mallets and the balls are pretty hard.

Quality is there, They seem more for a small child's toy xylophone than a percussion instrument in a school band.I bought them by mistake thinking they were larger (my fault).

June 22, 2015
These have held together well through a year of being played with by multiple children. The heads have stayed on nicely and never fallen off and the handles have held up just fine. My kids aren't rough with them, so that probably helps. We bought them to use on a set of Boomwhackers as well as on a wooden children's xylophone we have. I like that the heads are durable rubberized material rather than just a hard, wooden ball. It's a little gentler on the Boomwhackers and other things they bang on.

Nice softer mallets for bells
December 31, 2016
We got these for my son who is playing the bells in elementary band. The ones he had were hard and created very piercing sounds. These ones really mellow it out. It makes the sound quieter and very warm sounding.

Way too short
August 20, 2016
These mallets were way too short. If you wanted short mallets they're great for you! They are very nice and comfortable to hold.
Soft plastic drum sticks, look elsewhere.
June 26, 2016
These were great when first purchased. After a few months the plastic sticks are showing discoloration from repeated bending. I'll be surprised if they last a year.
8 1/2 inch mallets, not 12 inch as in the description
November 12, 2015
For the price, they're a nice pair of toy mallets. The title is correct - these are 8 1/2 inch mallets from tip to tail. Do not make the mistake (like I did) and go by the description which says they're 12 inch mallets. I was looking for 12 inch mallets, which is why the "ok" review.
About 4" shorter than standard size mallets.
September 27, 2014
Should have paid much more attention to the specifications. The mallets are only 8 1/2" inches long. Not knowing this length was not standard size, I ordered this product for my son who just started playing the Glockenspiel. Turns out these mallets are about 3-4" shorter than the standard size mallets that came with the glockenspiel.

Wish I had ordered plastic mallets
January 15, 2011
These are a good product. But I messed up and ordered rubber when what I really needed was a hard, brittle plastic to get the sharp, piercing tone I was going for out of my set of bells. Oh well. This product is good if what you really want is RUBBER.

These bent very easily when my daughter was using them. I would go with another product if you want something that will last.
Not quite loud enough for my needs.
February 7, 2015
I bought these to replace a wooden mallet that came with a Zen Chime I had purchased earlier. Unfortunately, these do not provide a sharp enough sound for my needs. (I use the chimes in a sixth grade classroom for transitions) I will keep them for back up, but I was a bit disappointed to be honest.
They sound terrible on the instrument
November 17, 2014
These are definitely a toy. They are no where near 12 inches long may 7 inches long. They sound terrible on the instrument. Don't waste your money, not even worth using as toys, I don't think they would hold up to being played with.
Smaller than you may think
July 9, 2014
These are tiny. I just assumed they would be the same size as the practice mallets that come with the bell kits, but they are almost half as short. They would probably work fine for a child 10 years old and under, but for middle schoolers, these are pretty small. I'm a small adult female and these were a little too small for me to the point of being frustrated. Maybe if you want to have some mallets on hand for when students forget theirs at home, these would be some good "punishment mallets": they can still participate, but it won't be too enjoyable so that kids are purposely leaving their mallets at home to use yours.

Plastic not wood
May 1, 2015
These were not as good as the mallets that came with my original bell set. The sticks are plastic not wood. They make a fine practice set because they are also not as loud. So, I will still use them at home but need to buy another set for concerts. Would not buy again.

They don't work on bells
August 31, 2017
I bought these to use on a child bell set as replacement mallets for a Let's Play Music class. I was very disappointed that the plastic or rubber ends aren't hard enough to produce sound. They look great, but don't work on bells.

October 13, 2014
My son bought these on my Amazon account, thinking they were actual mallets for an actual xylophone. They are not. They are tiny, made of cheap plastic and have no heft at all. They are worth a few pennies. His mistake, apparently. Buyer beware. Read carefully.
I can't use these.
May 13, 2014
What you need to know about these:The sticks are made of plastic. These are essentially kids' toys though I wouldn't give anyone such a poor quality mallet, whatever their age.

Not the best Mallets
May 10, 2014
These mallets are too soft to use in a school band lesson setting. They do. to produce a loud enough sound unless you really bang them hard, and eve then it. Is mediocre at best. Also the sticks are hollow plastic and in less than a year one has already cracked. Disappointed.
Terrible, they melted in the car.
August 4, 2010
So I bought 15 pairs of these and I had them in the car in a container and after one afternoon in the car, they melted and and now are all very curved and difficult to use, almost unusable.
