Five Star Reviews: | 31% A must have for those seeking alternatives to plastic tea makers. October 7, 2016 Overall we are very pleased with this product. We were seeking an alternative to the plastic iced tea maker as we often add essential oils to our teas. This stainless steel/glass combo is nice. It does still have some plastic parts. I wish the water reservoir was steel or glass. My kids love watching it bubble as the tea begins brewing. It makes great tea with adjustable strength. You will make a mess if you dont remove the lid before pouring. We will be purchasing an additional pitcher soon. Very happy with our purchase! Quick and Tasty Iced Tea August 21, 2016 I love this iced tea maker. It makes tea quickly and is easy to clean. I've had about four other makers of different brands and I like this Capresso the best. The detachable water reservoir is superior to other makers where there is no way to clean any residue the water leaves behind. You do have to be careful with the carafe but I've had no problems at all. This makes great iced tea without leaking all over my counter December 12, 2015 This makes great iced tea without leaking all over my counter. I like the fact that the carafe does not rest on the counter. I also like having an extra carafe as I make iced tea daily and it's easy to throw one into the dishwasher while the other carafe serves tea. The removable water tank is a nice feature that makes this easy to fill. Making tea was never so nice! Now I just hope it holds up. When it inevitably fails after what is a hopefully long service tour of duty, I will replace with this brand. Glad I went with Capresso August 12, 2015 Like many, I have gone through my share of Mr. Coffee Ice Tea makers and tired of the cracked pitchers and staining. I am happier now with the Capresso as it makes a decent pitcher of ice tea very fast. I elect to pour my ice tea into plastic pitcher and then just rinse this beaker-like glass pitcher, so I can put it back into the unit and have it ready for the next time. I am sure this will keep the pitcher which came with the unit in as-new shape for some time. The pluses are you can either pour water into the back reservoir or pull it out to carry to the sink to fill; either way the process is much easier than with a Mr. Coffee. I use 6 tea bags with the setting at full to make a rich tasting unsweetened ice tea. The biggest plus is the Capresso looks very attractive with the stainless front and white back, so I can leave it sit out. Incidentally, the label says it was made in China. The size of the unit is very nice, as it not too tall or too wide. There are fill markings for ice on the pitcher and on the water reservoir making it easy to use. I like the basket that pulls out but I find I just drop or pull tea bags while its inside. You must use the Capresso pitcher. So the bottom line it works, its attractive, and its easy to use and maintain. | 65% Kinda odd. First you can only put 1qt of ... September 11, 2017 Kinda odd. First you can only put 1qt of water at a time and run it. Next you can't see the water level, to much and it comes out the side. Next because the water flows from the side and not the center the paper filter folds over the bulk tea. I've folded down filter by the intake and that works. So a bunch of design things, but it works. Love it! Have for years September 8, 2017 We have used one of these for years, then the brewing basket cracked. I looked for a replacement basket. No luck. Then I found this for less than a replacement pitcher, (without the brewing basket, so useless for me). So I ordered this one. There have been a couple changes, the top and basket are a different type of plastic, more transparent, possible less fragile? So I now have two complete iced tea makers minus one brewing basket. Overkill, but I love my iced tea! This is pretty nifty. I use it almost every other day August 22, 2017 This is pretty nifty. I use it almost every other day. It makes just the right amount of tea to last me for a few days. I have not had any problems with it leaking or any other issues. BTW - I use tea bags and have not used any coffee filters although it says to. Seems to me you shouldn't need filters unless you use loose tea. Pretty good tea-maker for the price. Great product June 20, 2017 Great product! I'm a caffeine addict but all the pop I"m drinking is doing a number on my stomach. This gizmo is great for making tea - you can either skip the ice and leave it hot or use ice for iced tea. It works with either tea bags or loose tea. No muss no fuss. Makes great tea. May 14, 2017 Second one I have bought. Works great. Don't drop the carafe on tile floor or you will be buying a new one too. Perfect Iced Tea every time!! April 17, 2017 Hubby wanted to start drinking Iced Tea and this is a perfect little pitcher that fits in our fridge. I usually put 5 tea bags for each 2 quarts that I make and it's the perfect tasting tea! Tastes fantastic with a splash of lemonade to make it into an Arnold Palmer! Love it!!! |
Four Star Reviews: | 10% pretty good April 3, 2017 Makes excellent tea however the button is difficult to use....I have to hit it just right (which normally takes a few minutes) to get it to start. Great product but fragile components December 7, 2016 Got my first one as a wedding gift from a relative. Loved it but it broke after 3 weeks. This product would be a 5 Star product if the button on the right hand side didn't feel like it was always on the brink of failing. Reached out to Capresso to replace my first one and they required me to ship back the broken one before they would send me a new one. Shipping this thing back would have cost $40 so i just bought a new one. The new one has been going strong for 6 months of every other day use. Great brewing appliance February 20, 2015 Read the manual first and follow the directions explicitly. This takes both tea scoops and tea bags. It fits about four large ice tea bags. You can go to manufacture website and download recipes. Brews tea really fast, very delicious, you should wait at least 15 minutes between brews and keep parts clean. Looks good enough to keep on the kitchen counter! November 14, 2014 I really like this tea maker! Make the tea quickly. The only complaint I can mention is that the carafe is glass. I have granite counter tops so if I were to set the carafe down quickly it may break. All in all, it's great and it looks nice enough to keep on the kitchen counter rather than needing to hide it like I had to hide my previous tea maker because it was not pleasant to look at. Decent Product June 5, 2014 I have never used an iced tea brewer before this one however it seems to do a decent job. Easy to use, nice pitcher even though it is a little thin but who wants a very heavy pitcher to have to deal with anyway. Holds plenty of loose tea when you go to brew. The only thing I thought was a little weird was the power button. There isn't a light or a tactile feedback that I could see when I used it but when I did press the on button I could hear the element heating up and beginning to use the water to brew. Looks good though and I would recommend it to anyone. Update: Still using this iced tea maker. It's going strong and making tea just about weekly. The pitcher hasn't broken on me and I even moved it into a new home with a dishwasher where it has survived many washings. Someone commented that the light turns on when the power button is pressed but I haven't seen that so maybe I got a bad bulb or LED in mine. Either way this machine has lasted and survived many brews and our move. I stand by my 4 star review. It would have a 5 star review with a working power button light and the feel of better build quality. | 12% I like this iced tea maker a lot September 6, 2017 I like this iced tea maker a lot. It is very easy to make great-tasting tea with and it has saved me a lot of money already by brewing iced tea at home.My only complaint with this product is that when you have the lid on the pitcher to store the tea you've made, you can't just turn the lid from the "closed" to the "open" position while the lid is on the pitcher. You have to take the lid completely off (and it doesn't come off very easily) and put it back on. I contacted the manufacturer and they've said this is normal. Just doesn't seem right to me. Why even have the slots cut into the lid if you have to take it off anyway? Like it, works well but honestly you could make ... August 22, 2017 Like it, works well but honestly you could make tea the old fashioned way in a pot on the stove and just as easy but its nice and the pitcher with lid a plus you don't have with a pot. Timeless Inexpensive, but Great Appliance. July 26, 2017 I've owned one of these since perhaps late 2000 and only replaced it with a new one once. This time around the first one I received not only looked like the older model, but was missing all 3 blue pieces. BUT all hope was not lost, I was immediately shipped another. So today although it's 100+ degrees here in Dallas, TX, I'll sit on my shaded balcony and enjoy sipping my first cool delicious batch thanks to my new Mr. IceTea maker, The Seller, and Amazon. Works. Looks great. Doesn't take up a lot of space. July 17, 2017 Works good. No leaks. The lid is a little tricky to line up properly, but once you figure it out, it's not an issue. Pretty great March 23, 2017 I'm a huge fan of fresh brewed ice tea! My mother has the same model only about 20 years older and maroon instead of blue, was hoping for the same one, only difference is there's no "holder button" to make the end of the tea making process extra stronger. Still a great product It's great but doesn't make a whole lot of tea... November 23, 2016 This tea maker is easy to use but only makes a quart of tea per attempt. I wish I could find a ice tea maker that can make a gallon of tea per attempt. It makes good tea though..... |
Three Star Reviews: | 9% Regardless of how full we fill the water reservoir and ... December 4, 2016 Regardless of how full we fill the water reservoir and the ice - it never makes a full pot of tea. Frequently when changing the tea bags, they are standing in water since it doesn't drain completely. Product is okay but stopped working after 60 days December 14, 2015 Product stopped working after only 60 days. It was only used 3 to 5 times a week. I was able to replace it through manufacturer but I had to pay shipping back and it took almost a month to get it taken care of. I would not recommend this brand to anyone. it was a bad design. September 6, 2015 switch broke and we had to send it back for replacement. I hope the replacement has a different switch, it was a bad design. It makes great tea but I was washing the pitcher and barely ... August 14, 2015 It makes great tea but I was washing the pitcher and barely hit the bottom and it broke.I have only had it 3 months For those of us that don't drink coffee this type of device is a great counter top item. April 7, 2015 makes it a lot easier to make tea. I have two pitchers and have made several gallons of tea since buying it. I like the fact that the pitcher is made of glass. I wish more of the unit was glass and metal instead of plastic. Sometimes after tea is made it takes a while for all the water in the system to condense so when setting up for the next batch of tea a lot of water from the lasts run may dribble out when the pitcher is placed in the unit. The pitchers are thin and while making tea using ice in the pitcher the pitcher broke. I would suggest not using ice while making the tea. I would not purchase this item again. | 6% Not the old Mr. Coffee June 19, 2017 I did not realize the tea basket was separate from the maker, and attached to the pitcher when making the tea. This is less convenient and tidy than the Mr. Coffee Iced Tea machines of old. I prefer my older model that makes a full gallon, and the basket attaches to machine. I had one of these for years and finally had ... June 19, 2017 I had one of these for years and finally had to replace it. This one was shipped quickly and packaged well. The only problem is the on/off button does not work! When you plug in the machine part, it automatically turns on and starts spitting water. This did not happen with my old one. Can't use the dishwasher June 9, 2017 Does a good job, but the materials used in the pitcher and caps are not durable enough to be cleaned in a dishwasher. Would have paid more for a better grade of plastic. Just OK May 26, 2017 It's ok, wish there was a way to allow for longer steeping. The lid is also hard to turn/remove. For the money its no bad and is pretty convenient. It doesn't leak which is great! This is ok but its not as sturdy as our previous one( it was a Mr Coffee ... April 6, 2017 We had one of these before and my husband broke the pitcher so we bought a new one. This is ok but its not as sturdy as our previous one( it was a Mr Coffee too) This one has a cheap look and feel to it. Even the main unit is cheaply made and the pitcher is flimsy. We'll see how long it lasts. It does its job. Barely. December 22, 2016 I don't know how they got their jug full, but this huge jug only filled half way. A lot of time for too little reward. |
Two Star Reviews: | 9% Don't purchase unless you only need for a few months November 14, 2016 This is my first product review. This machine makes great ice tea, however, after about 3-4 months it just quit working. Steam would be coming out of the top but it would not pump water to brew the tea. The face has a black and stainless steel design but ... October 13, 2016 The face has a black and stainless steel design but the backing and to the extent it wraps around the sides, is white. My understanding from a friend is that it's functional, or it works perfectly but the white sides and backing - looks ugly. great ice tea, but... June 13, 2016 This makes great ice tea however, the glass carafe is super thin and broke while I was stirring and spilled ice tea all over the kitchen. I dont know if i will buy a new carafe since the glass is so thin. I dont think it is worth buying a new one. Shame on you Capresso August 22, 2015 I can't say how well this ice tea maker works because I have not been able to use it. I should have listened to the reviews. I read about how fragile the glass picture was. And I wash everything before I use it. So I placed the pitcher in the dishwasher and making sure that it was not near anything. I ran the dishwasher through an automatic wash and guess what, when I opened the dishwasher and took the pitcher out it was broken. I paid on $60 for this. For Capresso to make such a cheap glass picture that they knew would break, and nothing else on the market that we could find that would work with this machine is just wrong. Now I had to order another pitcher. People listen to the reviews. I'm sure Capresso probably makes a lot of their money from people having to buy an Pitcher. waste of time and money buy a sun jar and make it that way August 1, 2015 The part where you put the water is not big enough to fill the canister. You have to refill it while its brewing. And if you don't do it while its brewing it will shut off and you have to wait 5 min before you can turn it back on. | 3% Makes great tea and is easy to use August 1, 2017 Makes great tea and is easy to use. I have only had this for a weeks and the pitcher has a crack in it. It costs the same amount to buy a new pitcher as the whole unit with a pitcher. Disappointed. It's okay July 24, 2017 Don't like how the process works for this maker. Previous model was much better Pitcher cracks easy June 11, 2017 Have not even had it a month, and the pitcher has already cracked. Had an older version of this, and it lasted for years. Didn't receive all parts. May 30, 2017 Guess I would be able to review it had I actually received the whole product. I received the main unit and the pitcher but not the lid and filter basket. As is, this is now absolutely useless to me. Worked the first few times out of the box, BUT May 29, 2017 Put this aside for winter and when I pulled it back out of the pantry to use, it doesn't work. The start button does nothing. It's loose in its spot. When a product works perfectly it should just be left alone. Don't fix what isn't broken. March 28, 2016 I had a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker for years and finally needed to replace it. It's not the same though and the brewing process has changed. There used to be a lever on the side of the brew basket and the water went through much slower and accumulated in the basket so that the tea could steep. I thought the one I just received was defected and the replacement is the exact same way. No lever to adjust how long the water stays in the basket. The water just goes through and the tea is weak unless you want to double the quantity of tea bags. I was able to purchase exactly what I wanted elsewhere so am returning my original purchase as well as the replacement. Including pictures of what I got as opposed to what I was expecting. The blue is the version that I am returning and the yellow is the one I found elsewhere. Thank you for the prompt customer service. |
One Star Reviews: | 41% This machinenearly caught fire January 16, 2017 This product nearly caught on fire when plugged in for the first time. It then smelled like melted plastic. Seller refunded money without a problem. It worked great for 3 or 4 times then returned home a ... October 2, 2016 Tea maker started itself . Started smoking and burn smell in the house! It worked great for 3 or 4 times then returned home a week after we had it and found the tea maker smoking in kitchen. Don't Purchase! June 12, 2016 Super disappointed. The glass pitcher broke while taking it out of the box. Returned after 1st Use June 2, 2016 Returned after initial use, the tea maker only makes 2/3 of a pitcher even when using the exact amount of ice recommended. Stopped working after 4 months. January 2, 2015 Bought this in August, it only worked 4 months. We were making ice tea in December and it kept shutting off and wouldn't put the water in the pitcher. This is waaaaay too much to pay for something that only works 4 months. I looked at the return policy and it was only guaranteed for 1 month. Dont waste your money. I was worried about the great glass pitcher breaking, never thought the unit would stop working. | 14% Bad Tea Maker September 3, 2017 Terrible and we have had like 4 Mr. Coffee Ice Team makers before, and all were great, just finally gave out.. This one dumps the water onto the counter. It won't line up correctly with the pitcher. DO NOT BUY THIS IS JUNK. Horrible tea Maker July 26, 2017 Horrible machine. After putting correct amount of water in it , water leaks all over the counter. Bought it for my husband when we was coming home from Afghanistan. Window to return closed.Horrible horrible horrible THE ITEM CAME TO ME BROKEN AND YOU CANNOT USE ... June 10, 2017 THE ITEM CAME TO ME BROKEN AND YOU CANNOT USE IT. I USE THE ITEM A LITTLE LATER AND THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS TAKING PEOPLE'S MONEY FOR JUNK THAT DOES NOT WORK. Pitcher came with hairline crack on bottom January 26, 2017 I started to put room temperature water in the pitcher and noticed a hairline crack on the bottom. I wanted to return this for a refund or exchange but see I'm being charged for shopping. So, I'm forced to either cut my loss of $16 or buy another pitcher (fool me once...). Not a good experience. You're better off boiling your own hot water and making the ... November 13, 2016 If I had known the how complex it would be to use this product- I would never had purchased it. To many components and you have to buy filters. You're better off boiling your own hot water and making the tea. Do Not Purchase June 12, 2013 As recent as two weeks ago there were many negative reviews on this product but now I see only one other than mine and that person thinks its wonderful. I did read the negative reviews prior to purchasing in April but thought "no" they must be doing something wrong. I have used Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Makers for probably 15 years without an issue...Many different ones over the years. This worked OK for the first month...I always put a papertowel around the outside of the pitcher to catch any drips...now about two months into owning this appliance it does not just drip. First a little bit was not going into the pitcher, now about half the tea coming out of the ice tea maker ends up all over the floor, in the drawers, in the cabinets and all over the counter. Prior negative reviews (by the way where did they all go?) said they thought the pitcher got out of shape over a period of time and didn't engage properly where the tea comes out. That sounds like the only thing that it could be. Today I went to make a pitcher of tea and stood there for about 3-4 minutes until it first started dispensing tea and there were no leaks...went back about five minutes later and it was all over the floor. No one else in the house so no one was bumping it which is I thought at first was happening. Is the heat from hot tea causing contraction of the pitcher?. Not sure - but the ice tea maker that seems to be the best seller (and one that many of the other negative reviews that were removed recommended) is about the same price so I've ordered it to see how it works. It is the Hamilton Beach 40911-2. It's only 2 quarts but what the heck....after half of the tea in this Mr. COfee Ice Tea Maker ends up on the floor, I'm still ahead of the game. |
