Works very well but adds a little more prep time.
May 21, 2016
Works very well. I have been frying turkeys for over five years now. I have used both the old-fashioned way of propane and the newer method of plug-in indoor turkey fryers. The reason this one is better is that you're less likely to burn the Turkey in different spots because of the rotisserie. Takes a little bit more work to prepare about 10 more minutes to your cooking and prep time. However you can use all the techniques as with any turkey fry such as injecting flavor into the turkey before frying. I had one issue and that was finding the fuse switch on the unit when there was a power surge in the house. Hidden behind the fryer pan.
I'm going to cook turkeys all the time now!
December 1, 2015
The best turkey I've ever made! Thanksgiving was a huge success with this fryer. Watch the videos and follow the straightforward instructions and your bird will be perfect. While the instructions say up to an 18 pound bird I think that would be difficult to fit. We had a 16.25 pound bird which was about as big as I think this unit could reasonably hold. For our bird, the length was more of an issue than the girth--so your milage may vary.Clean up was easy (for a fryer). Even waiting a full day before draining and cleaning everything came clean quickly. The unit is large. Which is to be expected since it cooks a turkey. This is not something you are going to want to store on your countertop or keep in a small apartment.
I'm Officially Retired From Propane Turkey Frying
November 27, 2015
I started frying turkeys around 1998. Up until purchasing this Waring cooker, I used a standard propane setup manufactured by Cajun Injector. It served me very well over the years and I had zero complaints, but when it was time to replace it after 17 years I wanted to switch to electric. My main reason was safety - I'm getting a little too old and slow to jump out of the way if something were to go wrong with the old setup. I made the switch with some skepticism, and I put a lot of trust in the reviews here. Bottom line, I have no regrets about making the switch. My main concerns were whether it would cook a turkey as quickly as I was used to and how easy it would be to clean. Since about 1/3 of the turkey is not submerged in the hot oil as it spins on the rotisserie, I had trouble believing the standard 3 1/2 minutes per pound rule would still apply. I was wrong - it cooks just as fast as the fully submerged method I used before. I would be lying if I said cleaning was a breeze, but while different, it is no more difficult than cleaning a propane setup and I honestly feel I'm able to get the unit cleaner in the same amount of time I used to spend. In addition, some of the parts will fit in a standard dishwasher. So far, I've deep fried a whole 5 1/2 lb chicken and a 15 1/2 lb turkey. Both came out great. The chicken served as a trial run before trusting the unit with my Thanksgiving dinner. The results were so good that I'll probably be using it for chickens a lot throughout the year. BTW, I also learned that chickens take longer per pound to cook - about 5 minutes/lb.The instructional DVD that comes with the Waring is good enough that it warrants its own comments. You should definitely watch it - I know that if I had not watched, I probably would have had problems with my first turkey cook. It fully explains properly securing the bird to the rotisserie, which if you don't do, you'll probably not end up with good results. As other reviewers have noted, turkeys vary in width and length independent of their weight. With this fryer, the length is the more critical dimension. The unit can accommodate a turkey that's up to around 12" in length. Trimming the excess skin at the neck and tail will help with this dimension. Girth can be compensated for when you secure the bird to the rotisserie with the included cooking twine - tying tightly will pull everything in. The main objective is to secure the legs and wings so that the bird spins freely in the rotisserie - and this is easy to test before you put everything in the oil.Expect great results if you follow the instructions - it's really not too complicated other than the first use learning curve. I'm glad I bought it and would buy again.
Best turkey ever!
January 14, 2015
We were skeptical, but we absolutely love this turkey fryer. We've used it twice already (Thanksgiving and Christmas), and the turkey comes out delicious! The turkey cooks a bit faster than what the instructions say, so make sure you check it toward the end of the process.Pros:Convenient. We don't have to fry the turkey outsideFast. It takes about an hour for the oil to fry, and another to cook the turkey (about 16 lbs or so)Efficient. It uses less oil than other fryersEasy to use. You can follow the instructions in a video posted here (http://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-1255306/Waring+Pro+Rotisserie+Turkey+Fryer+and+Steamer). The fryer also comes with a DVD, and I supposed the video is there as well, but I haven't watch it yet.... and the turkey is delicious (though we make sure we do a dry brine first)Cons:The only think that I dislike is that the oil smells a bit funny at first (while it is heating up), and at the end of the process, the whole house smells like food. It doesn't smell bad (who doesn't like the smell of freshly-made turkey?), but I this can be a con if you're expecting visitors. The second time we made turkey, we placed the unit by the window and open it to let fresh (and cold!) air in, and this seemed to alleviate the problem. The unit is also expensive, though it was cheaper to buy it from Amazon.com than from anywhere else.I would definitely recommend this product, though.
If you like (or love
November 4, 2014
If you like (or love!) fried turkey then this one is for you. Have owned for about a year and fried several turkeys. Simple operation and clean-up is as easy as you could expect from a turkey fryer. Really clever design when it comes to draining the oil after use. Can also be used as a deep fryer. The only limitation is the size of the turkey - the manufacturer says 18lbs - but its really more dependent on the width/depth of the turkey. We have fried several 15-16lb turkeys with no problem but one 13 pounder was a little troublesome due to the width of the bird.Bottom line though this fryer is awesome!
So easy to use once you figure out the importance of properly trussing your bird...
December 24, 2013
I fried a large chicken right out of the box and it was DELICIOUS! Then I did our 16 pound Thanksgiving turkey and it was the best Ii have ever done. And I have been really fortunate with my Thanksgiving turkeys which I usually brine and slow roast on the bar-b-que. Using this fryer I dry brined over night and it easily was more moist than previous year's birds, I barely had any leftovers! Clean-up is easy but a process to get it all cleaned, but that's not a complaint. The one complaint I do have is that the power cord is short and it is recommended in the manual that you do not use an extension cord. I did because I had too, and the cords get very hot and eventually I blew a fuse, probably will look for a better solution for this. After calling the 800 number, Waring does not have any option for upgrading. Still I think this is a great cooking tool, added benefit of using less oil because of the rotisserie feature and this is pretty fool-proof for deep frying. aB

Best Shrimp boil in Michigan
September 20, 2017
Held my first annual shrimp boil and it was a HUGE success. We filled this pot to the RIM and had enough for about 50 people. Before the boil was over we were already talking about the 2nd annual boil in 2018. Water heated up fast, food was amazing, clean up was easy. The pot had a couple dents in it upon arrival as others noted. But I figure it's aluminum (I didn't want to splurge on more expensive options) and it will get dented during storage or use anyway. We had this thing so full we had to manually scoop some off the top to get to the basket. The price was right, the reviews were good and I'll update if we use it again in the near future. Again, only used it once but it performed like a champ.

DUDE!!! This sucker cranked out the best crab pot dinner ever!!! 18 people fed with no heat slow down. I actually sold one of these sets to my neighbor who attended our meal!!!
Great deal for home brewing
August 21, 2015
Love this! I use it for brewing beer. The size is great for doing full boil batches and is large enough to do larger batches. The burner stand was easy to assemble and although it seems a little flimsy, it holds 7 gallons of liquid and brings it to a boil quickly (takes about 10-20 minutes). The price was unbeatable - I have seen the pot alone go for more than the whole kit cost me. The aluminum pot is fairly light gauge but that has not been an issue but I can see it denting if you bang it around or knock it off a table.

December 21, 2015
I have been frying turkeys the traditional way with a propane burner for over 20 years and was a bit skeptical of this device being able to keep up. Well, my fears were unfounded. It is true that it takes a bit longer to bring the oil back up to temperature as compared to a propane burner, but that only added another 15 minutes to the total cook time. Instead of our traditional 40 minutes or so for an 11 pound turkey, it took 55 minutes. I will easily give up an additional 15 minutes for the ease of use of this cooker.
Solid Fryer, decent price
March 4, 2015
Solid fryer. I've done about a half dozen turkeys in it so far and they've all been DELICIOUS. I've also fried up several other things here and there and it works well for all of it. The complaints I have are that it takes FOREVER to get up to temperature, the timer function on it is worthless as it's just a simple "ding" and it's VERY quiet (barely louder than the sound of the food being fried), and I'd like to see a digital temperature gauge on there so you know how hot the oil is all the time instead of just having a green light telling you the oil is as hot as the temperature you set the knob for. It's a great concept, I truly love it. I'd really like to see bigger heating elements though so it doesn't take over 90 minutes to warm up from ambient to 360ish.
Awesome device that could be even awesomer.
December 26, 2014
Overall, pretty awesome. My only complaint is the drain system is somewhat poorly thought out. The tube is way too stiff and somewhat too long. Silicone tubing would have been more practical since it's more flexible and could coil at the bottom of whatever vessel I'm draining into. Thinking of replacing mine with silicone tubing if I can find it.That said, the functions of the device are phenomenal. The turkey fry function works great and it's nice to have enough oil that it recovers quickly from smaller batches of food. (Thus your chicken strips don't get cold while your fries are cooking, etc.)I do have one suggestion for the TF200C if anybody at Waring is reading this.More precise temperature control (specifically at lower temps) + Fan attachment to the rotisserie gears = Sou vide mode. (IN addition to fry and steam, of course.)Don't take the last paragraph as criticism, though. Just an idea to improve something already awesome.

November 30, 2014
I have used the propane type fryers in the past. This one blew away those messy pots. It uses much less oil and has an easy drain hose to empty the cooled oil back into storage. Much easier to use and easier to get to proper temperatures. It has a rotisserie and can be used to make buffalo wings, seafood, potato chips, funnel cakes and much more. Down side is the cord is short and due to the safety feature it can come out much too easy.
Nice fryer lousy cord
January 5, 2014
My only complaint with this fryer was the too short cord that would just fall off the back of the unit. I understand the safety aspects but the cord is way too short and it doesn't stay so well on the unit. be prepared to wait a while for heat up. It seemed like 40 minutes to heat the oil to max temp.
Big Winner
December 27, 2013
This is definitely a counter space hog and I have found storage challenging - that is the down side. The upside for this work horse is that it is super easy to operate, uses far less oil than other turkey fryers, can also steam large quantities of food, and has a broad surface area making it large enough to fry your own luscious donuts at home! Draining and filtering the oil is a breeze and cleaning the parts which disassemble so easily is super fast. My family will get a lot of use out of this appliance!

June 9, 2016
Great size and pot for the occasional crawfish boil. I can fit about 15 lbs of crawfish with potatoes and the fixings. It took a while to put together the stand, though, but once it's together, it's all good
Great Price, Adequate performance
May 29, 2014
After alot of research, I bought this kit for an upcoming Low Country Boil I had scheduled with my extended family. I am happy to say that everything went well, and this pot and burner got the job done. Its not the nicest pot out there, but its a solid performer and for the price, its a great deal. Here are a few things you will need to keep in mind that I wish somebody had already said.1. Its aluminum, If you drop it, or even bump it hard, its going to dent a little. Its nothing you cant handle, but if that's a showstopper for you, expect to spend twice as much for a stainless steel pot.2. I found that this 50 quart pot allowed me to make enough low country boil for 25 people per batch. Anything more than that would overflow the pot.3. The 54,000 BTU burner took about 30 minutes to get 25 quarts of water to a boil. That's alot of water, and I was happy with this performance.4. The burner stand took me about 20 minutes to assemble. Its not perfect, but I was confident that it wasn't going to collapse under the weight of the full pot.5. The strainer that is included with the pot is a lifesaver. It really makes cooking alot easier.6. I got a stainless steel paddle stirrer as well, and that turned out to be a good thing to have with this pot. The following link is for a 36" paddle, but something in the 24" range would have been sufficient. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012Z1YIY

fried turkey GREAT! Tender and in 50 minutes as advertised
November 1, 2014
fried turkey GREAT! Tender and in 50 minutes as advertised. BUT, if you think you'll be able to fry anything in volume other than turkey better think again. Instructions say up to 6# but I put 4# of french fries in and it did not have enough power. I cranked the temp up to 375 put the fries into the oil and 20 minutes later the fries were not good and the temp never got back to over 235. It took 35 minutes for the temp to get to 375. Don't use this for frying for crowds.

This is my review before using it. I give it three stars based upon how I feel right now. The lid came dented, the basket does not fit properly. Now I have not used it yet but for the price these are two things that should not be a factor. I'm disappointed it's made in China and understand that Chinese products lack quality. The reason I'm posting this is to give people an idea of what they might expect. I am going to address these issues with the seller and I'm going to suck it up and deal with it. I will post another review down the road.

Soo, I didnt want to believe that this item could arrive so damaged after reviewing others' reviews, because I mean, there were so many great reviews afterall. BUT, as soon as I opened the box, I realized it was bent just like other people had wrote about. The lid was bent almost like a taco!!! WTH!!! I like the size of it, and I havent used it yet. I bent the lid back, but its not perfect, maybe I'll try out the stand and keep it just because the prize is reasonable. I'll decide later and update.

Basket is too small and not a turkey fryer
May 25, 2014
I bought this to use for shrimp and crab leg boils. I like the size of the pot and the stand is OK but I was disappointed in the basket. I was planning to put the whole boil in the basket so I could pull out the basket and dump it on the table. But it looks like this is more of a steamer since when it is resting on the lip inside the pot it is still about 6 inches from the bottom of the pot. I had to add 3 gallons of water just to reach the bottom of the basket so it takes longer to boil and it requires more seasoning. I have already order another basket that will sit inside the pot.Lastly, I bought this for seafood boils but I thought I could use it to fry a turkey is I wanted to but the instructions have all kind of warnings about "This is not a turkey fryer". This would not have been a deal breaker but in case anyone else is planning to get it as a turkey fryer.Overall, even with buying an addition basket for $30 it is still probably one of the least expensive options and it you only want it as a steamer is would be fine.

February 8, 2015
This is a quality piece of machinery, well designed (save 1 thing) and constructed. The problem is it just doesn't have enough power to fry anything! Chicken, fries, fish, you name it, it cannot hold temperature, falling into temperature ranges that produce heavy, less than crisp food. Why don't electrical fryer makers get this?? Double the energy input! I can't imagine frying a turkey in this thing. I moved on to the propane fired Bayou Cookers. This will be relegated to steaming food.

November 27, 2014
I've never had fried turkey before and was really looking forward to this. However, I waited until about an hour and a half before dinner (as the video said it would take about an hour to cook) only to find that my turkey was too big. It says it will take up to an 18 lb turkey, so I got under that to be sure...it's 17.45 lbs. Got it all trussed up (the cheap string they sent with it kept breaking so I had to improvise with some cotton yarn), tried to get it in the basket and the neck was sticking out, the wings were too wide, the tail was too long. So I cut the wings off completely and trussed it all up even more. I finally got it to fit in the basket but it was not turning easily. I figured it would shrink a little as it cooked and sure enough after a couple of minutes it was turning just fine. But it never would have tuned if I had left the wings on and had only done the trussing as described in the video. So it said to cook it 3.5 minutes per pound, which would have made it just over an hour. I checked it at exactly one hour and it was already way overcooked...it was 190º and it should have been 160º. It was dry and rubbery. Maybe the timer isn't accurate either, I didn't watch the clock.I'm taking this back. It's just not worth all the hassle. Plus you don't get the delicious stuffing from inside the turkey, and no drippings for gravy.
Just too big
February 15, 2014
I have a friend who has been "frying" her Thanksgiving turkey for the past two years. I was able to enjoy the product in 2012, but after moving 1,000 miles away, only enjoyed it by photos texted to me on Thanksgiving in 2013. So I thought I could give my sisters a similar great quick-yet-tasty version of turkey for Christmas as a present this year. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the same simple Turkey fryer my friend had bought, so I sent them this more expensive rotisserie version. Both sisters called me to say, "Thank you, but..." It was described to me as the "size of a safe". They both returned it. Unless you have a very large storage area that can accommodate this item, don't buy it.

Looks better online than it does in reality!
September 14, 2015
The price is right but the product is not exactly as advertised. The whole stand is easily assembled but it is not as solid as I would like. Also the product picture doesn't show all of the little nuts and bolts holding it together, but they are clearly visible after it's assembled since you are only provided with cheap silver nuts and bolts! I think the marketing picture is extremely deceptive since it does not show these parts connecting the stand together, instead the main pictures seems to show a solid-forged metal stand... don't be mistaken: this is not a solid stand! We've cooked on it 3 times and the main ring which holds the cooking pot is already rusted along most of the ring. It's not rusted through to the point of breaking but it already looks awful. Once again, it does not look as nice as the picture depicts. Overall, I give it 2 stars because it does work, but the overall quality of the product is very poor.

EPIC FAIL. This product died the first time I tried it on Thanksgiving Day. The oil was heating up and I was waiting for the "Ready" green light to come on when it just lost all power. No amount of trying all different outlets, adjusting the power cord, hitting the rest button could revive the fryer. The fryer just died. There is nothing more frustrating than buying a highly rated, brand new fryer to fry your Thanksgiving dinner only to find out it cannot do the job. Thanks to Waring, our Thanksgiving dinner was all sides. I will never buy any other product from this company.

Buyers beware I purchased this unit in July an only used it 3 times successfully.....I was making some fried chicken for a football party when the machine stopped heating up and just stopped working completely.i attempted to clean it too no avail and I'm now out of the mo ey as there is no return allowed after 30 days.the unit appears well built and solid.....but I guess it's really not a fryer because if it can't handle a bag of frozen wing pieces I doubt it could handle a turkey as states it that it can....at least I found out before thanksgiving day.UPDATE 11-15-15 after looking over my machine and being puzzled as to why it wasn't working I found a small red reset button that pops out and doesn't allow it to work.....after pressing the button back in all is well kudos to waring pro.

September 5, 2017
Cheaply constructed, but as noted by other reviewers, you get what you pay for. As with others who have reviewed this product, the lid and steamer bucket arrived bent, and it was short one bolt. All of this was fixable, but the leak in the hose on its first use was not. When I contacted the manufacturer, I was told that it would not send a new hose and that I'd have to "exchange" the unit through Amazon. It'll be a return for a refund.

March 23, 2016
Very disappointed as the product came in a normal box that was undamaged. Unfortunately when we open it on the day of our crawfish boil the pot was bent so bad we couldn't even get the strainer out. Needless to say the top didn't fit either. We had to scramble to a local store for a cooker as we had 30 people coming over that day for a crawfish boil. Can't figure out how the pot was like that when neither the inside or outside box was damaged. This to me means, it was a damaged pot put back in a box for resale.
Poor quality.
January 6, 2016
After reading all the positive reviews I decided it must be decent quality, and was excited to get it. I just opened it and its not.. Thin, softer than usual aluminum, so the lid was dented and the pot was crushed. Blame Metal Fusion Inc./ King Kooker for using poor grade, thin aluminum. Very disappointing
