Don't Tie Them
December 30, 2016
I love the convenience of the Litter Genie. It makes digging through the treasure box a quick and painless chore. You can minimize bag waste by clamping the bag with a couple of 4 inch zip ties. It's really the best way to empty the pail since the odors stay locked in and you're less likely to contaminate the outside of the bag. Make sure you cinch them on tight. They're rated for 19 lbs and I've never had one break open on me. I store the zip ties on the bottom of the genie pail so they're always where I can find them.I've also read some complaints about smell. Just spray some Lysol around the rim and let the Lysol dry on the plastic. It should keep bacteria from breeding under the closed lid.
So much better than having a dirty trash can full of cat sh** sitting around!
December 13, 2016
I am stupid excited over this thing! lol. As the name implies, it's like a Diaper Genie, but for soiled cat litter! No more having to constantly walk to the community dumpster every time I scoop the litter box, because the choice was either that, or tie it up in a smaller trash bag and throw it in the kitchen trash can and have to smell it until the can was full enough to take out. It's just so much more convenient.I haven't personally had any problems with odor control using this, but if you do, a little sprinkle of baking soda in the bottom of the bag should take care of that.Initially I thought I wouldn't use the scoop that came with it because I expected it to be flimsy and honestly I really liked the scoop I already had, but the one that comes with it is actually really sturdy, easy to use, and is made to fit the opening of the can so no spills. I'm thinking now that I've used it, I will probably continue to use it after all.So all in all a great product and well worth the money. I highly recommend it. This thing has made cleaning out the litter box so much less aggravating for me. It also looks nice. Not like having a dirty trash can full of cat sh** sitting around.
I Should Have Bought This SOONER!
April 23, 2016
This is an item I purchased for myself and I'm not sure why I put it off for so long! I have been looking to get one of these for quite awhile.I have two cats and I feel like I'm constantly scooping out the litter box and going out to the trash. Although I take the garbage out everyday the trashcan will stink from the tied off bag of dirty litter. This Litter Genie is great! It was super easy to put the refill "bags" in, its super easy to use and best of all it doesn't STINK! It's sturdy but not heavy to move around because it's made of plastic and it comes with the litter scoop and the pocket on the side of the can to hold it.I have issues with removing the litter "bag" from this Litter Genie.#1 The opening in the top where you place the dirty litter is to small. I am showing the top with a measuring tape. I also wanted to show a picture of the middle where it opens (pardon the dirty litter). This is from last night and this early A.M. I am also showing pictures of how to retie and create a new "bag".#2 It opens in the middle of the can and then I had to figure out how to the cut the "bag" without spilling any dirty litter. It feels like I have to pull the bag to far down to cut it and it uses more of the "bags" then I had hoped. I'm sure I'll figure that out to my satisfaction as I use it more. I hope this is helpful to you. All in all I highly recommend this Litter Genie.

This thing is amazing! Having to take little our three or four times a day was making me question how my two cats can still be so cute. With this thing twice a month. It retains the smell to where it doesn't even seem like o have cats in the house anymore. The feature of having a bag cutter inside so it's easy to keep the cartridge going is wonderful! I attached a photo to show max capacity. And remember
An absolute must for cats!!
December 30, 2015
Still an outstanding product that does what it says. We have multiple cats and the litter cleaning used to be a real chore. With the Litter Genie it's just scoop, pop it in the Genie and pull the slide and no more odors. The non-branded refills do fit and although some say they are not as good as the originals, I find all of them work just the same. Of course, the caveat here is to change the bags when they are about 1/2 full as nothing ever made will stand the test of time against cat urine, no matter how well it clumps. I change the bag at least once a week, sometimes twice. I do find that litter box smell is dependent on the type of food they eat; ours eat both wet and dry food so sometimes it can be quite odoriferous. If there is a down side it is that the waste contaminates the bag on the way to the bottom so the upper part will always have some odor, especially if you cut the bags short when disposing. There is a cure for that in this little trick I devised. Place a Stick-Up deodorizer on the underside of the lid and when you lift the lid it's a pleasant citrus aroma. I buy the Stick-Ups and remove the sticky tape completely and place a strip of Velcro on the underside of the lid and another mating piece on the Stick-Up. Press it together and viola! You now have an even better Litter Genie. Plus, the top of the Stick-Up containing the scent gel can be pulled off the bottom so one application of Velcro is all that will be needed. Simply pull off the top section and replace it with the top section of the new Stick-Up and you're good to go again. That said we use a natural cat litter, so your mileage on bags may vary depending on the number of cats, their waste and type of litter. Here is another trick to assure your Litter Genie is always fresh smelling:
Love it!
October 21, 2014
Love it!! Perfect next to litter box, has a holder on outside for scoop, easy and wide enough to put used letter clumps in top. Keeps smells enclosed and keeps area clean. I wish I had bought this years ago! Easy to set up and has a cutter inside to cut bag and stretch out new one. I'm a clean fanatic so this is perfect!

easy to clean, cat likes it
May 27, 2017
tracking does happen with this product but it is *nothing* like what you get with clay clumping litter. very easy to sweep up. you have to follow the instructions and really keep up with them- you only need about 1-2 inches of litter, clean the poop daily, and when a weeks up- toss the litter out. there's no point to scoop the disintegrated pieces, honestly, the litter is cheap and it'll smell too bad after a while anyway.so think of it more as a litter you'd use for a hamster than a cat lol. not meant to sit in the box for long.i also prefer this very much over pine litter- pine litter disintegrates and tracks horribly, and gets stuck in my throat and all over my cats paws. ew. this is much safer and cleaner.
Very good if your cat has to have it
May 24, 2017
I only love it because my cat had to have it. He had an injury on a paw and there is no dust with the product. However, my cat is very finicky about where he pees and he won't go on a previously dampened spot which means you can't move the litter around. Also, it is hard to see the damp spots. For my cat I had to use 3-4 times the amount of litter as the clumping kind. My cats wounds are healing and I will go back to the clumping kind. Do consider buying this product locally because it is very heavy and a hard to package to ship

We use this litter for my pig. I love it, the only problem is that she uses the bathroom so often and in such large quantities, that I am literally purchasing this item every few weeks and it is starting to get pricey!
Sooooo nice. This makes having ferrets SO MUCH
March 20, 2017
I use this for my ferrets. Just a very small skattering at the bottom of the cage below the grate and it soaks up any urine really well and make the poop easier to clean up. Sooooo nice. This makes having ferrets SO MUCH EASIER
Perfect litter. No scent
November 16, 2016
This is the perfect litter in my honest opinion. I personally use it for my rabbit. I love it because it's compressed recycled newspaper, 100% safe for pets, and environmentally friendly. At first I was skeptical because it's completely different than the other litters that are out there, but since I've been using this product I've seen that there has been no dust, no no clumps, and is now a holy grail liter for my household. Since switching to this litter I now refuse to purchase anything else. It is cheaper on Amazon than in my Petco so I've purchased here since seeing this. I plan to try the scented options next.
Yesterday's News is My Choice of Paper Litter!
September 13, 2016
These are my go-to paper litter pellets for my rabbits litter boxes. I use these in conjunction with soft, white bedding / litter. I find a little bit goes along way. It is very absorbent and does a phenomenal job soaking up the urine (and smell), in my opinion. I put the paper pellets on the bottom of the pan and sprinkle a layer of white bedding on top. The paper pellets catch whatever pee-pee the white fluff misses. I use the white fluff bedding on top of these paper pellets because it allows me to monitor the color of my bunnies urine. It works like charm for me.I prefer the unscented litter over the scented. The scented litter (when wet) smells worse than a dirty littler box, in my humble opinion. It sort of smacks you in the face when you walk into the rabbit zone. Once wet, the litter sort of crumbles but it still holds the urine. It is easily scoop-able when it is soiled. You can get away with scooping out the soiled litter daily and replacing it so there is no need to dump the whole pan out and disinfect it as often. All in all, I highly recommend this litter. The price is great and I stand by the product. It is non-toxic and pretty much dust-free. I don't think you would be disappointed if you were to purchase this for your littler trained pet.Occasionally, a little residue is left of the bottom of the pan. It cleans right up with white vinegar. Just a little spray, let it sit and wipe it up. Box comes out like new when cleaned this way.

Invaluable; Makes Scooping Litter Boxes Almost Easy
August 22, 2017
For a long time I resisted getting a Litter Genie, because why? You can use a little grocery bag or throw it all in the trash and then empty the trash. But now that I have one, I can see it's invaluable. The setup is simple and almost a bit crude, but it works so well. I'd love it if the entire thing were a bit more sturdy, though, but it's hard to argue with what works. I have two others--one really old one that isn't the "plus" model that got broken (white) and a newer one that is silver. I bought this black one just to have one that was different, and now I regret that. The litter dust gets all over the black and make it look filthy almost immediately. I cannot keep the outside of it cleaned off. It always looks like it's been sitting in a haunted house for thirty years. If I ever need another one, I'll buy another silver one.
Solved a lot of problems.

Only 4 stars? I will explain that quickly and then tell you why it COULD be 5 stars. The attachment for the scooper makes it incredibly difficult to completely seal the top half of the genie itself. By simply not attaching it-I have no issues-so in that case I would give it 5 stars. Here is why:I have two cats-both male, both dominate. And they OVER use the litter box. For a couple years, I was really lazy about cleaning out the litter box. It was such a hassle.Ad then I would start to smell it. Have to find plastic grocery bags, make sure there are no holes, use two just in case, etc. I HATED IT. So this genie (I'm assuming modeled off the diaper genie) solved ALL OF THAT.I am not using the plastic scooper it came with, but a metal one I have just because I think it is more sturdy. After feeding the cats in the morning, I go to the litter box, scoop their junk into the genie, pull the lever out and it drops into the bag. No smell. No hassle. It sits right next to the litter box and there is no issue! With two male cats (one weighs about 14 lbs and the other about 20)- I have to replace the bag from the genie one every two weeks. And that is VERY easy to do!It comes with one set of bags-and I have been using it for about two months and I still haven't gone through all the bags. It is a huge relief to me and I know the cats are happy with a clean potty everyday. I used to have problems with one of them going on the floor-and now I am convinced it was because I wasn't cleaning out the litter box enough. It is a good product and I would highly recommend it.I do hope in the future they make one that has more sturdy plastic-as I can see this one is only going to last so long. It does feel a bit flimsy. But I'm not traveling around with it-so I should be good for a while. But I would like made out of metal or some material that is better than it is now.I do have to say that I can stick my nose right up to it-and I smell NOTHING when the bag is completely full.
Guarded razor somewhat hard to use, otherwise wonderful product.
April 28, 2016
I purchased this item because I am taking care of three cats. They have multiple litter boxes throughout the home but they all decided they'd rather use the one in the downstairs bathroom. After use from 3 cats, it started to be disgusting about halfway through the day. Scooping litter wasn't the issue, the issue was the smell that resulted if I didn't immediately take the soiled litter outside to the dumpster. Using the litter genie, I cannot smell ANYTHING even with the lid left open due to the compartment underneath that actually holds the waste bag. I'd give this a full 5 stars if it were a bit easier to cut the bag when emptying. (It has a built-in guarded razor but it's somewhat hard to get the bag in it correctly.) Everything else about this product is magnificent. I'll definitely be buying refills and using this for as long as possible. I keep a pair of scissors nearby to cut the bag manually, it is much easier than using the built-in razor.
Good

So this actually comes with a scooper. Unless I missed it, it never said that anywhere. So I bought another scooper. I don't like how small the opening is. And I wish there was some kind of latch on the lid so my toddler wouldn't open it.
Great product, makes cleaning up a breeze! Wish it was built a little more sturdy though...
March 20, 2015
As a new cat owner (I let a stray in on a cold winter night and she decided to keep us lol) I quickly realized how much I was going to HATE dealing with a litter box and cat waste. Keeping a wad of plastic grocery bags (that may or may not have holes in them) and then taking them down to the trash everyday just wasn't going to cut it. I was actually on the fence about keeping the cat until I did a few things to make owning her substantially easier. This product along with the great litter they sell here on Amazon plus a Cat Box/Washroom to hide the litter box has ensured Jinxy has a permanent home with us :)Now about this product - it came packaged well and was super easy to setup for first use. It includes the genie, a refill cartridge and a scoop. Just pull the seal off of the supplied refill cartride, insert into the unit, pull the film through the hole to the bottom of the genie and then tie a knot in the bottom of the film - latch it closed and it's ready to use.The usability of this product is spot on - it couldn't be easier to use! Just pop the lid, dump the waste in the funnel shaped hole, close the lid then pull the spring-tensioned sliding seal and the waste drops down into the bag. Let the seal go and you're done. Clean, no smell and it holds about a week's worth of waste for a medium sized cat.The only real issue I have with the product is that for something that sees daily use it is pretty flimsy... The plastic of the genie itself is very thin - it could stand to be at least twice as thick. I would easily pay twice as much for a heavier duty version. For the price though it's really hard to complain, especially for all the benefits it brings to the table.
It is very affordable for the start up costs. The refills however are not cheap.
March 8, 2015
This litter Genie is a very useful item to have next to the litter box. It comes with a scoop and a holder that attaches to the side. It was really easy to install the refill cartridge. There's a little tab you pull kind of like a milk jug lid, it tabs and you just pull around the top, then pull the plastic out and push it through the center, then tie a knot in the end of it and drop it into the top of the Genie. Close the top and it's ready to use. After you dump the dirty litter into the bucket you pull the black tab in the middle and slide it toward you. The dirty litter and bag drops down, and you let the black divider close over the dirty litter in the bag.It is not the same as the diaper Genie because it doesn't twist seal the litter, like that does the diapers. You open it in the middle below the divider, and gather the bag, use the white cuter tool that is attached under the divider and close and dispose of it. You then knot the new end on the plastic to make another bag and restart from the top.It would be much more convenient if it did twist and seal the litter, as the diaper genie does the diapers. As is the design is not a whole lot different from a step on can that has a tightly sealed lid. It is very affordable for the start up costs. The refills however are not cheap.

This was the litter our vet recommended after our kitten had surgery on one of his paws. He had no problem transitioning to it. I wish it covered the smell better, but we only needed to use it a short time so it was ok. I did like that it was easier to clean up when he knocked it out of his litter box. Overall it was a good litter for the time we needed it.
Like the Product, HATE the Price Increase
March 8, 2017
What's with the $4 price hike from last month?! I loved the delivery convience, but with buying it almost monthly, I may need to purchase locally.I buy this product for two small dogs. It blocks smell all it can- but dogs don't bury their droppings. Once in a while I find one chewing on the pellets.
Mostly good, with one caveat
December 6, 2016
My cat has very sensitive paws, and so I am unable to buy clumping litter anymore. This type of litter works well for him, preventing injuries that coarse, sand-based litters have caused. Each piece is large, so it's tough for it to be tracked very far from the litter box, meaning that cleanup is much easier than other types of litter as well. The big negative about this product is that it has absolutely no odor reduction, so you'll know very quickly if something has happened depending on the litter box's location.

October 31, 2016
My feelings are border-line from loving it to it being good enough. Been using it for a couple months and it covers the smell pretty well when my cat decides to completely cover up her business. The urine smell definitely comes through if you don't clean out the urine soaked pile, but that's not much of an issue if cleaned daily. If you're new to the world of pellet litters, cleaning it is a bit more tedious than clumping litters. You have to carefully "dig" for the urine soaked parts and kinda isolate it from the clean pellets to be able to scoop that part out. For the #2 pieces, you have to individually scoop them out. This doesn't bother me that much since this product is very environmentally friendly from using recycled paper. My cat has been using paper pellets of all different brands since she was a kitten so she adjusted to this one well. The dust that it creates is not small enough to get into the air but sometimes is tracked around the litter box. The pellets sometimes get out of the litter box too but that might be from my cat kicking it out. Not that big of a problem because I'll just pick it back in. It doesn't have any scent which I enjoy. I've tried pine scented litter before and they all smelled artificial which I did not enjoy.Overall, this litter is nice because you get a lot for the price and is environmentally friendly from using recycled paper. But you do have to constantly clean it to keep odor low
Only kind of litter my husband wants to use.
August 22, 2016
My husband changes the litter and insists that this is the only type of kitty litter he will use. Doesn't like the clay kind at all. One of the reasons is that this does not throw dust all over when filling boxes vs the clay type.
Good stuff
July 2, 2015
The price is steep, let's be honest. But my rabbit does his business in this litter, it doesn't have any weird smell, and it does it's job.

It may have worked, but not for me.
June 14, 2017
I think it would do its job but for me I found two issues.1.) From the minute I took it out of the box I noticed just how flimsy and cheap it was. Very cheap plastic and I doubted it would last very long.2.) I have three big male cats and by the time I scooped out the litter boxes for the day the litter genie was full so to me it was exactly the same as a trash bag and taking it out every single day.
Not a Purrrfect System
August 23, 2016
I came across this item as I was looking for a cat litter mat to protect my carpet from cat litter when emptying the litterbox. I saw it had great reviews so I took the plunge and purchased the item. Upon receiving, you have a little bit of work to do to put the product together. The directions the product came with are not clear as to what to do, but with a little trial and error you can figure out how to assemble the product.Once you get used to how the product works and its quirks, it's great. I can empty the litterbox without making trips to the can outside. I don't notice any odor. I can see how the disposal system will get messy over time, so, like another reviewer pointed out, it's a good idea to use disinfecting wipes on the unit every now and then to keep it clean.I rated this product three stars due to the difficulty in use for first time users and how it serves just a small convenience over scooping litter into a plastic bag, which is what I did previously.
It's okay, but...
August 6, 2016
The Plus version includes the scoop. I threw it out, it's too wide to pour the waste into the funnel! Then, I had a difficult time cutting the bag when it was time to change it. (I made a huge mess) I am using scissors the next time. I'm disappointed the clumps need to be broken up in order to compress into the compartment. On the positive side, it looks good, there is no smell and it eliminates my bag collection.
Great concept, overly expensive replacement bags
August 2, 2016
Easy to use, NO odor with the original replacement bagsI think there is some kind of a deodorant between the layers of the replacement bagsBUT - - the OEM replacements are 47 cents per foot, and the competitors replacement bags are only 27 cents per foot.Time will tell if the replacement Chinese bags stink through before they are fullBut as I have 2 cats and 2 litter boxes - the recycle time will be short - and the poop may not penetrateBefore the bag is full and needs recycling (update pending).
good at first, but not once the plastic (to form the bag) needed a refill.
April 29, 2016
Initially I really liked this genie. It worked well, though it took a bit to get used to how to use it. Though it seems simple, Getting the bag to come down correctly was a bit tricky. It kept the odor down and was easy to use after the second pull down. The problem arose when I needed to change the bag (refill). There isn't an easy way to tell if the bag is close to finish; therefore, what happened was I kept putting in the clumped litter and what I didn't know was the bag (plastic) ended and thus the litter simply filled the bottom container and the bag was mixed it. It was really quite the mess. when I finally got it all cleaned out and tried to put a refill into the device; the refill was about a half-inch too big, though they were sold as an addition to the genie. I have put a small bag into the bottom and hope it will work.
Good, but I preferred the Litter Locker 2
December 8, 2015
I have tried both this product and the Litter Locker 2. Although this one is nice and did work as advertised, I preferred the litter locker for a number of reasons. For starters, although both seem to contain smell fairly well, the litter genie is much smaller than the locker, and therefore fills up quicker and needs emptied out more often. Another reason is that the entire top comes off of the litter locker, whereas with the genie, the top part flips up. This makes cleaning that part much more difficult as you can not remove it from the rest of the case. Since this is where you dump the dirty litter, it tends to get fairly messy and I like the ability to remove and fully sanitize this portion, making the locker a better design. One final reason, and probably the most important to me, is that the litter locker makes it much easier to use garbage bags instead of the refills sold in store. I like to use the 8 gallon trash bags instead of buying the expensive refills. With the litter locker, I can simply place the garbage bag in and put the lid on, which holds it securely in place. The genie, however, since it folds down, makes it much more difficult to use trash bags with. You have to keep an empty refill and wrap the trash bag around that, securing it in place with a rubber band. Although it can be done, it isn't nearly as easy or secure as the litter locker 2. Therefore, although it does do a good job of containing smells and does help with litter box scooping, if I had a choice between the two this would be my second choice.

We don’t have cats but we have 2 guinea pigs that are litter trained well were they don’t care for this stuff it’s hard to find a large bag of pine so I went with this since some said they use it for there guinea pigs. Ours must just be picky.
Not good in humid conditions
August 7, 2017
I liked the idea of this litter because it's environmentally friendly, light weight and available at most retailers. However it seems in the summer months when it's humid, this stuff does not absorb odor at all. I've noticed a mark difference on a hot and humid day vs a cooler dry day. The ammonia smell is awful. I find I have to change the litter pretty often, sometimes less than a week later. If this stuff held up better in humidity, I'd keep using it but unfortunately I'll probably be going back to simply pine.

August 9, 2016
It met the needs I had for a kitty who had surgery and needed litter with no chemicals. I personally don't care for it because it doesn't clump and it's hard to tell what is soiled and what isn't. It's all natural and for anyone looking for that affect then this is the litter for you.
We used to buy Good Mews cat litter
May 2, 2016
We used to buy Good Mews cat litter. It was the first time our cat had tried using a recycled paper turned into pellets. It came in a 30 lb. bag, lasted for 3 changes and cost around $7 (at Winco). It was GREAT! The cat liked it, and it didn't track all over the house. One day, I went in to get some and it was gone. I looked everywhere, including Amazon and was shocked at the price difference (much higher everywhere). So we shopped around and came up with Yesterday's News. It is the only pellet-type litter that isn't pine scented, the bag is the same size, but I guess we had been spoiled by paying only $7 and now we were up to around $17.The first time I cleaned out the box (daily type), I was surprised that many of the pellets had dissolved into dust. Good Mews held its shape, no matter what, it never turned into dust, which, by the way is extremely difficult to pick up with a regular scoop. . As far as odor control, it also failed that test. The third and final problem is that the 30 lb. bag only lasts for 2 changes vs. the 3 we got with Good Mews. The result of the pellets turning to dust is having to constantly add more each day, which is probably why each bag only lasts for 2 changes.Pellet form of litter is much healthier for cats vs. clay or sand (which cats ingest by bathing following their trip to the box) so I'm grateful that our cat will use it. We used to use SwheatScoop, which is fantastic, but extremely expensive. It looks like even though I'm not that happy with Yesterday's News, it's better than a number of the other brands of litter on the market today.
Disintegrates too much
August 30, 2015
I live in a tiny studio apartment, so I absolutely NEED a litter that doesn't track, because it all ends up on my bed. I was using a different paper pellet litter ( Fresh News Post Consumer Paper Pellet Cat Litter, 12-Pound ) and loved it. This was cheaper, so I figured hey - paper's paper, right? It definitely does the job, and it doesn't track as much as clay litter, but it breaks down quickly instead of retaining moisture and its pellet shape. I can't pick out the wet patches without avoiding the dry stuff very easily when it's just dust, which means I have to strip the litter boxes every week or so and fill them anew. So, this doesn't last as long as the other stuff. Not a huge fan, I'll be switching back once I've used up the massive 30 lb bag I purchased.

We are very disappointed in these Liter Genie units
September 10, 2017
We are very disappointed in these Liter Genie units. They are so flimsy in comparison to the ones from the past. Everything bends & moves around when you are attempting to use them. Actually one of them had come all apart during shipping I think. The various parts & pieces were laying in the bottom of the box. I would give it a one rating but I don't like the word that accompanies it. At any rate no I can't recommend these and since they are used I won't return them but I will return to using the old method of liter removal. They were also supposed to be the darker gray to better match the litter boxes and they are light gray instead. We will not be replacing them either. A plastic bag is more substantial than these flimsy items.

While this is a great concept, the bag cutter doesn't work well at all. We struggle with it every time.If you buy this make sure the bottom of the bag is tied off REALLY well! We had the knot in one bag come undone as my daughter was taking it out to the trash. Thank goodness this happened over our hard bathroom floor and not on the carpet. It was a huge disgusting mess to clean up.
Not impressed.
July 5, 2017
First impressions (more later): Not impressed in quality of construction. Flimsy and the top and bottom don't fit together well. Side holder for scoop gets in the way of closing the top and bottom and won't stay on. Loading bags is awkward. The proof will be in the poop.
Okay..broke really easily
March 17, 2017
Love the product but as soon as I assembled it and started using it the piece that slides in to the top broke off so now the cover won't stay on when I open it! Love the the idea of this but wish it wouldn't have broke so quick. I will continue to use this because its really handy.
Compact and nice looking but not practical
July 11, 2016
Two stars for the product concept and quality. If you have big cats, it's not suitable, the opening is too small for the litter to pass, I have a four months kitten,so it will last a while. I use wood pellets as litter, the urine will turn to dust at the bottom, I only need to scoop the solid, if you use regular litter, it might drive you crazy, try to push the big clumps down, and you need to clean the opening everyday, if not, it really smell. I saw the Litter Genie wipes at local store, that's for this purpose.I kept it at the upstairs bathroom for that litter box, but I turn to old fashion way, scoop and bag it for the downstairs box, I have no confidence to carry this genie around too much, accidents might happen.Good concept for apartment or smaller home, it will save trip to the dumpster, but in noway it will hold two weeks waste, even you have a kitten.Amazon have good price, so it won't break the bank to try, probably not buy the refill, just scoop and bag everyday.
Difficult to use
January 1, 2015
I had high hopes for this product. Unfortunately I found it cumbersome to use. Scooping the litter and placing it in the container was easy enough but then you need to pull the latch open in order for the soiled litter to fall into the sealed container. The latch is difficult to open and requires a two handed operation (you need to hold the unit down firmly with one hand while pulling the latch open with the other). Even while doing this the latch took some effort to get open. The unit does seal the litter well and eliminates odor. But after a while you need to empty the bag and again this was not that easy to do. The included cutter did not work properly and I needed to use scissors to cut the bag. Once you remove the dirty bag, you then need to pull down more of the plastic bag and tie it off to begin collecting more litter. After a week or so of use I decided all of this was more work than it was worth and returned to my old method of scooping litter (I keep a garbage bag in the garage for the litter and discard it often to eliminate odors).

Didn't work for my cat
July 27, 2017
I decided to try a new litter for my cat who seemed to track the standard clay clumping litter everywhere. I wish this would have worked for me, but it didn't. My cat's litter box never smelled like ammonia before and it did with this, even cleaning daily. It is too difficult to scoop up every "soiled" piece so I am sure that is the cause for the smell. You end up tossing most of the "unsoiled" pieces when using a scooper. My cat only would use the box a couple times with this and then started going outside the box. I will say it does work well soaking up the puddles of urine he left outside his box but I'll just be going back to the standard clay litter.
Not what I was hoping for.

Bought these as a cheaper alternative to BREEZE pellets. They definitely do not work near as good. I'm going back to breeze just as soon as these are gone.

May 31, 2017
I bought this large size bag to last me the month or more at least, and I went through it in less than two weeks because I have to dump the entire litter box everyday because it is completely saturated with pee from just one animal. Too expensive for how fast I go through a bag of it. I really wanted to male this my new litter because it is more envionmentally friendly. I wont be purchasing again unless I can find it for a cheaper price.

May 24, 2017
All of the other reviews and the description say this isn't clumpy but why is mine the clumpiest litter i've used yet? I empty it just about daily yet it reeks and sticks both to the edges of the litter box and to the bunnies' feet. By the end of 1 day it's like urine soup in there and I have to keep adding litter to it just so that something gets absorbed. But at least it's cheap and a hefty amount for the price.
Builds up Ammonia quickly

Compared to other brands infused with Zeolite (this brand is NOT) the pellets don't hold up well and the urine scent will keep you changing the box a LOT. Very disappointed. We switched back to Exquisicat Paper pellet with Zeolite found at PetSmart :)
not better than Breeze pellets
January 9, 2015
depends on your expectation, if you want something cheaper and better than regular cat litter then it's ok. Odor control is alright, the first couple days are pretty decent, but since it's made of newspaper, it DOES absorb urine! The moist newspaper broke to pieces, some fell to the urine pad and some stuck and blocked the bottom of Breeze litter pan so urine at certain locations couldn't leak to the urine pad, so after 4-5 days I started smelling some pee. I had to dump the whole thing and rinse it to get rid of the paper stuck on the bottom. The breeze pellets appear to be a lot more expensive but one bag last 4-5 times longer than YN newspaper litter, so it actually is cheaper for the long run.

Disappointment. Cheap plastic.

Broken and scratched! I just opened this and the top was all scratched. No big deal, it goes by the litter box but the button that keeps the bottom shut does not work and their is a spring rolling around in the bottom of the pail. Requesting refund.
Ehh

More effort then it's worth great ideas just doesn't work well doesn't stay closed and my cat like to jump on it and knock it over just keep scooping it and taking it out not worth it
Buy a Tupperware container instead
July 3, 2017
This is an ok product and the concept is cool. But it still gets stinky and the bags are outrageously expensive. I found that using a Tupperware container with a grocery store produce bag works much better. It takes up less space, no need to purchase expensive bags, and you can't even smell it. Plus, it is much easier to keep this container clean.
I LOVE my original Litter Genie
March 14, 2017
Litter Genie Plus is not an upgrade - the design is flawed, and it is almost unusable. I LOVE my original Litter Genie, and I ordered a second one (the Litter Genie Plus) so I could have one at each litter box. The Plus is a mess - the top doesn't stay connected to the bottom if you try to move it, and the sliding latch is cumbersome and gets stuck. Definitely buy the original. Definitely do NOT buy the plus.
Returning item, it is defective

Item is defective and unusable. Item falls apart when you try to use it
POOR FIT AND FINISH ON LATCH AND JUNK
December 10, 2015
This is absolutely the biggest waste of money! I have ordered several and they don't fit together well with the closure and end up with a mess. I order a lot of my things online as I live quite a distance from shopping malls and such and just easier and frequently cost saving but the design is decent but the item is flimsy and quality in fit and finish is poor. I have thrown away at least (4) of these and would discourage anyone from wasting their money and time cleaning up the litter.

I did not like this litter
September 17, 2017
I did not like this litter, I actually wouldnt even call it that. I understand the idea of it and wanted to like it since it is made from recycled paper but after the first day the pieces started to absorb the urine and crumble apart making it impossible to remove the soiled portions. The box always smelled like urine no matter how often I cleaned it. Basically would need to dump out the whole box every cleaning and start over.
Terrible product!
August 7, 2017
This is the worst litter I have ever bought. Odor control is minimal. Separating the waste from the dark-colored, large pellets is almost impossible not to mention wasting a lot of clean litter when cleaning the box. I would return it if I could!😡
Not what everyone raved about.
March 16, 2017
I bought this for my 2 ferrets, it was what everyone raved about. Said it was the best litter to buy, that it worked wonders. I hate it. It doesn't mask the smell, hard as all get out to scoop the poop out and I still have to clean the whole litter box because it doesn't absorb their pee. Great amount for the price but I won't be buying it again.
Smelly and High Maintenance
January 19, 2017
I really wanted to like this litter. The cat did not respond well to how heavy/large the pellets were and did not bother to burry her excrement. I ended up having to clean the litter after every use, not just once a day. Without this extreme cleaning regiment, my entire upstairs reeked of cat poop/urine. Not worth it.
I purchased this because my very favorite litter, Crown bedding has been discontinued
November 6, 2016
Purchased for my rabbit litter. She is a lionhead and every other type of litter gets caught in her fur. I purchased this because my very favorite litter, Crown bedding has been discontinued. This litter is a disappointment. It has much smaller/thinner pieces and does nothing for the smell at all. Back to the drawing board.
Worst I've tried...
February 6, 2016
We just got a cat so I've experimented with every type of kitty litter there is possible. And of all the brands I've tried this is by far the worst. There seems to be no odor control and the way it absorbs the urine is okay but the poop is terrible and the box was smelling after one day. Not sure why this gets so many good reviews?
