I would not put it on if you were running errands but after you park for the day definitely. I definitely think it deters anyone from try to take the car and its very visible. That I can install it without a key is a nice feature. It gives me peace of mind when my car is parked outside, whether at home or out on the town. It's cheap insurance. I think the only con is that it is kind of heavy and I have to be careful when I stretch my arm backwards to place it on the backseat before driving off. If you have shoulder problems (eg frozen shoulders, muscle injury), this backward maneuver must be done carefully. Deter the easy theft. September 19, 2016 Came quickly. Easy to use. Bought this for my son after his 2005 Honda was stolen from in front of his apartment. He now uses this club and hopefully any future theives will pass his car up for an unprotected one. If you have a Honda 2006 and earlier you need one of these as those models are highly targeted for theft. Seems to work, I still have my car as of this writing. December 26, 2015 I recently attended a lecture where I learned that my car happens to be #2 on the most stolen car list. I can't say it deters car thieves, as I don't know if it has or not, but I do still have my car, and it does give me peace of mind. Easy to employ, and I find that I'm still using it regularly after a couple of months, which was the real test in my eyes. With the double loops, I think you'd have a hard time cutting your way past this. Seems to do the job! November 30, 2015 I bought this as a deterrent because my vehicle was stolen and recovered. I understand that we have come to regard The Club as a bit of a relic from the 90's. I realize that it's effectiveness can be called into question.That being said, when installed, I can't see this particular design being easily compromised. Sure, any device can be compromised if a thief is skilled and determined enough. But I emphasize that it does not seem EASILY compromised, which makes it as good a deterrent as any. The idea is for your vehicle to not be low hanging fruit. If you live in an area where theft is prevalent, then this will at least make your car a lot more of a pain to deal with, and hopefully cause the thief to move on.I don't know what everyone is talking about – the mechanism works flawlessly. It locks without needing the key, so I just leave it on the floor of the rear until I park, then I extend it into place. Takes under 5 seconds. Unlocking has been a breeze as well, no issues, pinched fingers, or jammed locks. All in all, for $20, there is scarcely any additional inconvenience in using this device, so why not? The twin hooks design seems extra effective, the color is a strong visual deterrent, and it'll be a lot harder to just drive off in your car. Extra Protection May 8, 2012 I have used "The Club" devices on all of my vehicles for over a decade now. As a result, I am pleased to say that I have never had any of my vehicles stolen or even tampered with for that matter. The Club 3100 is well made and offers additional protection over the classic version of this device. One advantage is that when you place the Club across your steering wheel and it extend it, the device automatically locks in place. This feature has been included in some later models, which seem to no longer be offered. The double-hook design allows the device to fit much more securely in and around your steering wheel. To remove the device, one must remove it with the use of the included key.Besides being a visual deterrent to thieves, the Club 3100 is made of heavy gauge material and is sure to last for many years. As a Testament, all of the club devices that I have purchased over the years are still functional and work just fine. Great lock, but not for old, big steering wheels August 23, 2014 This is great lock. For me there was 1 drawback related to fit; I wish the ratcheted shaft was 1" longer. The reason is that I use this lock on a large, old-fashioned steering wheel on a 1964 Ford F100 pickup truck. My factory wheel is 15 ¼" inside diameter. The lock still works, but is at its limit and fits rather loosely, even when extended fully to its limit. So, I would recommend this product only if your wheel is 14 ½ or less inside diameter. November 7, 2013 I love my truck and I have proudly given her the name "Red", and I have owned her since 1989 when I purchased Red brand spanking new. I have had an alarm put in her and that's always work with no problems, until! One night this last summer, some brazen individuals, tried to steal my Red from me. The concept is simple, lock your wheel then hook it to the clutch or brake pedal.If someone wants to cut the steering wheel they can, but for the price this will deter the casual, unprepared opportunistic thief.Now, for the bad, they key sticks. I have used WD-40 and the it still sticks. The lock seems to be very sensitive to tension in the rod, for example if the rod is very tight on brake & steering wheel (which is should be in theory) the lock won't turn. You have to wiggle it incessantly to get it to loosen the lock up. This is VERY annoying when you are in a hurry. I am concerned I may lock myself from using my own vehicle. Perhaps there was some small plastic part in the lock mechanism that melted, I don't know but I wouldn't buy this if you live in a very hot climate. The locking mechanism is of VERY poor quality. Most if not all steering wheels do not have the the center cross member mounted in the middle of the wheel, but rather leave a larger space at the top as an opening to see the dash gauges. This means that the diameter at the point of contact for the upper hook would be wider than the lower. So the upper hook does not mount properly because the lower hook butts up against the wheel frame at a point of lesser diameter than the upper. I am No engineer, but I recognize a bad (permit me: idiotic) design when I see one. The CLUB people should be ashamed of themselves for not having designed this properly in the first place. SO...back it goes. If they fix the design to have it fit properly, I would buy one. One last point. it is a shake your head world and the fact that so many people would give this bad design a favorable review makes me question the value of online reviews. Of course you all know that merchants that are reviewed on online review sites (you know their names), can have any negative reviews purged. My wife wrote a very well articulated and legitimate critique of a service she used and it was removed. Thought i was buying quality... WRONG! ... August 9, 2017 Thought i was buying quality... October 15, 2017 It is actually a strong, easy to use lock. However, it can be defeated by cutting into the steering wheel thus easily removing the lock without touching it. The Pedal Jack is an absolute replacement that has four sets of teeth per lock that cannot be picked and is reinforced with 1in. thick cut resistant metal. I wouldn't recommend you buying this Started off great but no longer works July 10, 2015 I bought this lock because I heard great things about it; and it was great for a few months. After a few months the lock no longer works because it doesn't do what it is suppose to and that is stay locked. It seems the locking mechanism has broken because now it can simply be pulled open and this is a huge problem for a steering wheel lock. | 18% keep your $6 August 19, 2017 the button doesn't work! the light flashes but ignorer to turn it off i have to take the battery out. don't buy Defective August 4, 2017 Switch must be pressed hard to activate flash. Remove pressure frm switch and the light stops completely. Tiny, tiny decals August 12, 2016 Decals are the size of a half dollar coin: you'd need reading glasses to see them! Device "self stick" tape is on the battery cover, which means if you stick it, you can't remove it to change batteries. Overall a waste of money. Broken after one week! May 12, 2016 Save your money, the light stopped working after one week and it's not the batteries! It comes with one very small piece of Velcro which is sufficient to hold the weight of this device. It comes with two decals as well but if it only works for a week it's trash! Save your money Don't buy this! April 9, 2015 I just received it today and the light doesn`t work!!
