great pen for very cheap
March 21, 2015
Just got this pen half and hour ago and filled it with Parker Permanent Quink Ink. I attached a sample of writing with it, straight out of the box.

*Edit: After a few uses, the ink began to run dry, even though there was plenty of available ink inside the pen still. I just flushed it out with water a few times, and it's working fine now. However, the converter that Baoer supplies is very low quality, and not oiled in any way. I highly rec commend that you brutalize one of noodler's eel inks or any other self-lubricating ink to keep this pen in the best condition possible.
Ordered two. Tested one.
February 16, 2015
Works pretty good. Fast enough for me, and well balanced. It writes medium thickness, not too thin and scratchy, not too wet and sloppy, but just in the middle. Hope the second one is similar. Before I give it away as a gift, I will personally test it.

A keeper.
Really beautiful, solid-feeling pen
January 11, 2015
Really beautiful, solid-feeling pen. I was very impressed at the quality considering the price. It writes very smoothly using ink drawn from a well or pre-loaded cartridges, depending on your preference. It is very easy to fill the pen, and so far I have not had any problems with leakage. Will definitely purchase again.
A fine pen at a very resonable price.

What a joy in have in your hand. The pen looks like a very expensive pen and handles like it is one. Well made and write smooth. This is my second jinhao pen so far I am impressed.
Surprisingly good pen
November 1, 2014
This Baoer pen is the third Chinese fountain pen I have purchased. It is the best in terms of write-ability and fit and finish. It easily competes with $150 pens from the traditional pen companies. If the Chinese would just spend a little more on fit and finish, QC, and marketing, they could easily fetch $25 for this pen.

Buy this pen with the guarantee that you will be floored when you receive it. I think the low price deters buyers as they expect a cheap pen that dribbles ink all over the paper and fingers. No so.

It uses Waterman international cartridges. After self priming, it has not stopped laying down a wonderful bead of script. It is only limited by my bad handwriting.

All of the Chinese pen manufacturers offer a wide number of pens. For $100 I can buy nearly a dozen and have every ink color in the rainbow. Incredible.

Update 3/18/15: Holy cow, the pen died! It now writes a scratchy, dry script. Far from the rich wet bead when I first got it. This collapse similar to the 2008 NY Mets. At $9. each no sense in looking for a warranty. I still believe in Chinese fountain pens but have pivoted my buying to a higher price points. Still a better bargain than $150 occidental pens.

Update 5/16/15: For another $8.38, I purchased another Chinese Horse pen. I filled it with Diamine Red Dragon ink. It fired up immediately and wrote a smooth even script. The bead is not quite as good as version 1 purchased earlier this year. Right now, the pen is a joy to write with. The cap is much harder to engage with the barrel. Looking at the engagement surfaces, version 2 is different than 1; i.e. not a bell curve issue.

Lovely but slightly less comfortable to use for long periods than other styles
April 22, 2016
The pen is lovely and writes well (I purchased the Jinhao ink cartridges for it) but it is slightly less comfortable to use for very long periods than the smooth sided styles that I also purchased. If I’m going to be writing a lot I choose a different pen but I like carrying this one as my purse pen because it is lovely and unusual. I would not hesitate to give this as a gift.

I paid full price for this item and my review was objective and unbiased.
I heart fountain pens
February 10, 2016
I liked this pen a lot, the design was fun, but not as identifiable as I thought it would be.

My boss decided she is a jealous three year old who is mad because you have something cool and she wants it and I wouldn't give it to her. I came in to work the next day and the nib was broken beyond repair. The pen is cheap enough it was easier to replace the entire pen than the nib. Freaking childish people.

Shipping took awhile but no complaints. Lovely fountain pen sturdy feel and smooth ink flow. Versatile refill uses ink or cartridge. Tip a little broader than I like but that's my personal preference.
Golden Chinese Horse M Nib Fountain Pen Review
September 16, 2015
This fountain penvstarted off writing beautifully and then started skipping. I think it was due to i t bring dry indoors and sometimes being distracted by family periodically while writing. Its really a beautiful, goodly-weighted, comfortable pen. Universal fillers work well too. Nice design as well! Will get a stand to properly store it soon.
Very Good
March 7, 2015
I have owned Montblanc, Pelikan, Waterman and Cross fountain pens over the years. Recently, I was given one of the Lamy pens, and my interest was again piqued. While functional, I found the Lamy too "modern" looking for my taste. I decided, for fun, to order one of the inexpensive ones here on Amazon that are made in China. This was one I felt I couldn't go wrong on. It was very inexpensive, and if it turned out to be junk, I didn't have much to lose. I was pleasantly surprised. The pen arrived timely, and appears to be of reasonably high quality manufacture. The barrels is all metal and the "golden horse" pattern, while quirky, is a conversation piece. The metal appears to me to brass and the threaded parts are precision machined, with nice polish and no rough areas. The cap is a nice, polished and quality-feeling plastic materal. It came with the screw-piston adaptor, but I prefer using cartridges (though not environmentally "friendly" and I don't like that so much, they are simply less messy and are very convenient to carry and install). I have been able to use international cartridges and some Lamy cartridges I have.

What you would expect to be a "fail" on these instruments is the nib and its assembly. This pen came advertised with a "medium" nib. It has a very smooth writing feel and seems to lay the ink down consistently. With more porous papers, there is some noticable wicking and bleeding (this would be expected, but it is more noticeable with this pen than a couple others), but on nice paper it has a nice, bold look.

I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, in comparison to a couple other pens I recently acquired that I think are slighly better. This purchase inspired me to purchase a couple of the other Chinese manufactured offerings here on Amazon that I gave a 5-star rating. This particular pen seems to me to be every bit the equivalent of the Cross pens I have owned - the others, compare very favorably to Montblanc and Waterman, in my view.

My 4 star means not the very best, but very darn good! For the cost of these pens against the cost of the "name brands" it's simply a no-brainer in my view.

Great Pen
August 22, 2017
These are super fun to use. I'm a pen junky and I bujo. They don't give you the complete fountain pen feel. But! They do give you some of it. They write VERY smooth. I love them
Good value for the price
August 11, 2017
Good value for the price. Nice writing quality. A little bit of ghosting on the other side of the page, but that's probably the case with most pens of this kind. Dries relatively quickly, but need to wait a few seconds before touching or closing the page.
Rare chance to buy the fine-tip pen
May 9, 2017
I enjoy using these disposable pens, and would do so more if I had more opportunities to write on good-quality paper. I would prefer blue or blue-black ink, and an even finer point would be nice, but for now this is a winner.
Love these
September 17, 2016
I freaking love these pens. The only downfalls are that the ink runs out quickly and if anything is touching the pen tip, ink will come out (learned this from leaving it on a dress of mine-ink came out but it was embarrassing walking around with the ink spot on my lap). Other than that, it's a great gift for writer or doodler friends. Also great for journaling. I reccommend it.
These were cheap and I love that they are disposable
February 3, 2016
My husband needed a fountain style pen for writing in a different language. These were cheap and I love that they are disposable! The seem to work good, and for the price you can't beat it! I just wish they had a window for viewing the ink level.
Pen disposable fountain pens are nice for the money
January 4, 2016
The Pilot V. Pen disposable fountain pens are nice for the money. Let's face facts this is not your top of the line fountain pen for those serious scribes among us. These are the pens you don't care if you lose them somewhere along your daily trek. Good for the occasional fountain pen user .

dont last too long but great while they do
August 9, 2017
dont last too long but great while they do! Ive had a couple of the nibs come too loose to use, one lid wont stay on, and another lid was chipped from a light drop on a desk.
Writes just fine when it works
February 1, 2016
The only complaint I have is the refillable cartridge. Writes just fine when it works, BUT....You have to constantly unscrew the housing over the ink to adjust it (making the plunger squeeze ink into the tip), and after sitting in a box for a few weeks it stopped working. The plastic piston separated from the rubber plunger inside, so there is no way to refill.
Bent nib.
August 6, 2015
Good. But in the cap, there is an extruded ledge that is in the way of putting the pen inside of it. And when I pushed the pen inside the cap, it bent the nib and is very hard, annoying, and difficult to write with.
Pen worked beautifully until I dropped it--on carpet
August 1, 2015
Pen worked beautifully until I dropped it--on carpet. Now the tip splits apart w/the slightest pressure and it will only pull ink and write when I hold so the back of the nib makes contact w/the paper. I received a lot of complements on it the two days it worked before falling--on the carpet. If you decide to go ahead and order and have never used a fountain pen, there are a lot of helpful videos on youtube to show you how to fill them and get the ink to start flowing.
nice pen.

Doesn't hold ink cartredges
March 9, 2017
Beautiful pen, great price, but it won't hold on to an ink cartridge (checked Waterman internationals, and Guillors). In other words, once I "snapped" the cartridge in place and screwed the barrel back on to the nib unit, the cartridge disengaged. I have another, similar pen that just barely holds the cartridge, and then only if VERY carefully handled.
Looks great but faulty pen
March 4, 2017
I really want to like this pen with 5 stars. After an accidental drop while the pen was still with the cap firmly securing the nib piece, it cannot write, ink flow constantly stops and have to unscrew the barrel piece out, turn the conerter tip to push ink delivery. I understand that I would ruin the pen if it was dropped without anything protecting the nib, but that wasn't the case with me.
When it comes to pens like these, really anything under $15 is not going ...
February 5, 2016
The pen is way to bulky and feels cheap. Even the cap is too thin and lacks an elegant feel. Also, the pen dries up for me in around 2 days and i end up using way more ink than i need to. I bought the pilot fountain pen too to compare it to this, and it is definitely worth the few extra bucks. When it comes to pens like these, really anything under $15 is not going to last. If you invest in a pen that is a little more pricey you will end up buying less pens in your lifetime, and experiencing the smoothness and elegance that the upper class pens offer.
These "alternative" pure gold-colored nibs are stiff and seem to be a fine point, but suffer from a plethora of issues ...
January 25, 2016
It seems that in current batches of these pens, two are sent out with standard-style feeds and nibs, and two are sent with feeds that are "smoothed" at the bottom and, despite being about a #5 size nib by default, fail to fit third-party #5 nibs. These "alternative" pure gold-colored nibs are stiff and seem to be a fine point, but suffer from a plethora of issues such as hard-starting and skipping even when good flow is established.

To recap: Two pens come just as usual (standard two-tone medium nib, standard feed) and two come with a new, stiff, one-tone fine nib that tends to write poorly.
Ok for the money, picky on the ink they use.
January 13, 2016
Ok pens for the money. I've purchased 8 of them. I have to revise my initial review down to 2 stars from 4. The caps go bad where the internal connector broke so the cap doesn't stay on. Rendering the pens all but disposable. This cap damage occurs when you put the cap on back of the pen. It pushes the plastic inner cap to deeply inside the pen. Once this goes bad, the cap either rattles or doesnt stay on at all allowing the ink to dry.

As long as you don't ever put the cap on the back of the pen, you should be ok.

Also these are very wet pens, meaning they lay down a lot of ink. This makes the ink take longer to dry and makes blue ink look almost black.
Because of this they use alot of ink and are picky about their ink. I have found that if I use the Waterman ink cartridges these pens love them, but if I use the cheap Jinhao ink, they dry quickly and clog frequently.

Pen spewed ink all over me , you decide. I want my money back. Or a replacement comparable product.
Skip or stop writing randomly
January 23, 2016
These pens are alright when they work well, but sometimes they skip or stop working all together to the point I think it's out of ink, only for it to randomly work again a few minutes later. They also bleed a lot through the paper which isn't a huge deal. I don't really use them anymore.
Disappointed
September 2, 2015
Does not write smoothly, so I was disappointed to say the least. Very scratchy, variable in darkness of writing. Wouldn't recommend for anyone I know.
Abit disappointed
August 13, 2015
It doesn't write as fine as I was hoping.. I write very small and fine and this pen doesn't write fine as I do so it makes my writing hard to read..ink flows abit too heavy so it makes fine writing hard.
Not very useful
April 21, 2015
They do not work have the time.......
Inconsistent ink flow
January 14, 2015
Pens randomly scratch or drag across the paper without any ink while writing. Terrible for taking notes.

August 22, 2016
Ordered mine last year, held on to it using it very sporadically. Just threw it away lately. I bought it so I would have something fancy to write my spells with. Every time I took it out it was a hassle finally it just stopped writing and because nothing but a paper scratcher so I tossed it.
I love the look of the pen
March 25, 2016
I love the look of the pen, but bottom line, it doesn't work. When you insert the cartridge, you have to use half of the ink to get it started writing. Then in 10 minutes it doesn't write. If you scribble for a minute, the ink will start to flow. I finally gave up after trying to use the ink cartridges and the reusable cartridge that came with the pen. I would not recommend this pen.

Not satisfied with this. Ink get clogged and dries up. Not very smooth to write.

Dissapointed
April 15, 2015
I bought two of these pens to try, one for me and one for my girlfriend. In the included picture you can see the finish on the two pens are completely different right out of the box. One is very flat and faded, and the other looks like what was advertised. Also, the pen is very scratchy and unreliable, making it hard to write more than just a few sentences without it going dry (and yes, I know how to hold it). Really hoped for a better product based on the other reviews
