These pens are awesome! I hesitated about buying them because of the price. Four pens for $12 did not sound like a quality ink pen. It just sounded too cheap. I was totally surprised when I received the package. These pens are beautiful. My husband claimed the chrome one right away, and I am going to give my grand-daughter the burgundy one. They write so well, and feel really comfortable in my hand. I think I will get years of use from the two I have left, and I will definitely be buying more of these for presents, especially since graduation is not too far off.
Surprisingly high quality, and unbeatable for the price.
November 23, 2016
These are actually surprisingly nice fountain pens. They have a fairly fine nib, but aren't scratchy like some fine nibs can be. Very good weight to them as well. I prefer a heavier pen, so for me that is very positive. I've inked up and used a couple of them without any issues. Good, consistent ink flow with mine as well. It's also really nice that they come with converters too. The cap is a nice snug fit and posts snugly as well. Except for the grip, these are pretty comparable to the x450, and both are superior to the 750, which is my least favorite Jinhao. I got these to use as an inexpensive everyday work pen and have found myself really liking them. The only possible negative is that the silver one is a little too over the top for my taste, but the others look really nice.
Smooth-writing, very affordable fountain pens!
March 14, 2015
These are great starter pens if you are just getting into using fountain pens. And if you have been using fountain pens for awhile, you will like these pens, too!The nibs are very smooth and and have a good ink flow. Please note that the nibs are smaller than the "standard" #6. That's not a problem, but if you're thinking that you might want to swap out these nibs for any of your #6 nibs, the #6 will not fit these pens.
Jinhao x250 Pack of Four
January 2, 2015
I purchased these pens on a whim shortly before Christmas, 2014. They arrived on the 23rd in perfect condition. I kept one and gave the other three away as gifts to friends and family members who have an interest in pens and writing--yes I told them they weren't expensive. Of the four pens delivered all were in perfect cosmetic shape and working order. The only fault was that the black pen's cap did not post (sit on the end of the pen while writing) securely. This defect was easily overlooked given the price. In regard to their merit as writing implements I was also pleased. The nibs are probably close to a Western-manufactured medium and the feed/nib combo produces a wet medium line. The pen will accept any standard make #6 sized nib. They write smoothly and skip infrequently. The screw plunger type cartridge converters (these pens require bottled ink) don't seem incredibly durable, but they work just fine and supposedly conform to the standard international converter specifications. The converter holds a decent amount of ink, but it is easy to burn through a filling due to the wetness of these pens. These pens are acceptably comfortable to use even though they are fairly heavy.Overall: A nice introduction to fountain pens at an incredibly low price. I will probably buy this product again to get more of my friends and family interested in fountain pens.
There wasn't any major quality issues, they look great, and write amazing
April 22, 2014
First let me start with the cons of ordering this product.1. The wait for this package to arrive is excruciatingly long. They took a little under 2 weeks, and call me impatient, but it felt like forever.2. One part of the pen was unglued. The cap has a small black cover, at the very end, but I fixed it with some glue and has been in perfect condition since. Because you could fix it with household glue, took less than 2 minutes to fix, and wouldn't have really affect the pen in any way other than appearances, it was just a small nuance.3. People will try to steal them, because they're amazingThe pros of this package are the following:1. They look fabulous, after only a few days of using the pen, I received countless compliments2. They write extremely smoothly as well. The lines are kind-of bold, close to the 1.00 mm G2 roller pens, but this doesn't bother me. They don't skip, and the ink flows very nicely as well.3. 4 pens for $21 is extremely cheap, where the only fountain pen I can buy locally is $15 and is no where close to as good as these are4. They come with refillable ink reservoirs, this makes it comfortable to be able to refill ultimately saves money as wellI would definitely recommend anyone to buy these pens, especially if you are a novice with fountain pens and are just testing the waters.
Great Pens
March 8, 2014
To be honest I bought these through the mobile app one night when I was drunk. But it was one of the best purchases I've made. I write in cursive and on the small side, and these work great. I would definitely recommend them.

The finest fountain pen at this price
July 15, 2017
This is the finest fountain pen you can find at this price. Fit and finish of the pen is excellent and it both looks and feels like a precision writing instrument. The nib is smooth and moves across the paper with ease using Pilot ink. The cap posts well on the pen. It's never worked loose during normal writing for me. Posting shifts the pen balance due to the weight of the cap. Unless you have large hands you can write with the cap unposted with ease. The body, section, feed and nib of the Metropolitan disassemble for cleaning. Some pens have a fixed section and feed that require a bulb syringe to flush ink.I've added other pens to my collection but I always compare them to the Pilot Metropolitan for writing quality and fit and finish. This pen is a worthy addition to your writing collection and makes an excellent first fountain pen. This pen has some drawbacks.- It's heavier than plastic pens. The body and cap of the Metropolitan are made of brass. Posting the cap shifts the balance of the pen toward the rear. The fix is to write with the cap unposted.- It has a snap cap. That may not be a drawback to you but I prefer the screw type caps. The act of unscrewing a fountain pen cap is part of the pleasure of using these pens.- Two writing nib sizes: Japanese fine and medium (equivalent to European extra fine and fine). The nib is well-behaved using Pilot ink but can feel scratchy with other inks. Pilot ink lubricates the finer point of their nibs better than any other ink. Do yourself a favor and order Pilot Namiki IC100 Fountain Pen Ink Cartridge, Blue/Black, 12 Cartridges per Pack (69102) or Pilot Namiki IC100 Fountain Pen Ink Cartridge, Black, 12 Cartridges per Pack (69100) when you buy this pen.Drawbacks aside, this is one of my favorite pens. I have both nib sizes that I use for writing and I also buy them as gifts.
One Heckuva Pen for the Price
May 23, 2017
This is the second of two Pilot Metropolitan pens I purchased at the same time. This one has a medium nib, and the other, the red variety, has a fine point. I found them both very pleasing. Of the two, I REALLY love this one, because I like the way the medium nib dispenses ink. Remembering pens from the Good Old Days, I expected this a medium nib to squander vast quantities of ink and to create a sloppy-looking document. But no: apparently the Japanese idea of "medium" is close to the US idea of fine. On a good piece of paper, this medium-nib pen glides right along -- extremely smooth and pleasant to write with -- and it makes a nice, neat line. Even compared to my old Waterman, purchased back in the day when I could afford pricey accouterments, this inexpensive pen performs handsomely.Whenever I like something this much, it's the kiss of death...so I probably will buy one or two more of them in the near future, before they go out of style. If this thing lasts, then it's worth considerably more than it costs. IMHO.
Perfect fountain pen with a reasonable price

Perfect fountain pen with a reasonable price.
Great Pen for an Unbelievable Price!
November 18, 2014
This fountain pen is truly a surprise! I own a Prera demonstrator fountain pen which has given me problems. This pen outperforms the Prera by a long-shot. Has quickly become a frequent choice above much more expensive writers ...Pros- Writes great! (most important)- Nice metal lid, clip, and barrel (at $13 price point!). Looks like a much more expensive pen. I bought the silver variety.- Sturdy, un-obnoxious clip (unlike the Lamy entry level fountain which I also own)- Comes with one cartridge (Pilot style), as well as a converter (bladder style)- Comes in decent box and case (unlike any other pen in this price range)Cons- The thin plastic band which is about 3/4 inch thick in the middle is a little weird/cheap- Bladder style converter is completely opaque and can't tell how much ink is in the bladder/resevoir. Also is a little unusual to fill since you don't know if you're pulling in enough ink ... you just guess- Does dry out pretty quick with the lid off (i.e. while I think about what to write next ...)
Incredible...seriously!
October 4, 2014
I am not new to fountain pens, although I would not consider myself an expert. I have restored a few Parker and Esterbrook pens and I would describe myself as someone who has discerning taste and high expectations from products, but do not really like the pretentious ones. Some of my pens are the Lamy 2000, the Pelikan M200, Lamy Safari, Parker 51, Parker Vacumatic, and more.I say all this because this pen just blew me away, and not "for the money." When I buy a pen I try to forget how much it costs and judge it on it's own merits, although the price always tends to linger somewhere in the back of the mind. This pen is seriously amazing – a wet writer, whose nib is fabulously smooth and precise and ultimately one that I simply cannot put down. What's even more exciting to me is that it is $15 dollars. I would have happily paid twice if not 3 times more for a pen of this quality (and it writes that well) but somehow knowing that it cost $15 makes me so happy; I can throw it around, let it dry up, not feel self conscious about writing with an expensive pen and having to tell people how much it is worth the writing experience, blah blah blah.I don't really have the time or the patience to write a full review on this pen and go into all the details but I will just say I felt incredibly compelled to share my excitement with everyone else about this jewel. My christmas shopping, it seems, will be very easy this year.**Update**It's been almost a year since I bought this pen and ever since I have used it almost exclusively. I think I may have put close to 3oz through it, filling it up everyday (I write a lot). I'm a little angry actually because I have a couple of hundred dollars worth of pens sitting in a case not really being used much. I'm even thinking about selling a few and simply buying 3 or 4 more of these so I can have a number of colors at hand. Now, writing with this pen and switching to another that costs $100 more will expose some of the nuances of a higher quality nib but I cannot stress enough how wonderfully this pen has been performing for me.
Get ready to reset your expectations for an entry level pen!
October 5, 2013
I would almost say that this pen redefines what an entry level pen is. From the moment you pick it up, it seems like a more expensive pen, a lot more expensive. The body is metal, unusual at this price point, unusual at the next price point up. The style and finish are austere and clean, modern without being gaudy, I like it a lot. It feels solid but not overly heavy. It just feels like a nice device. It's one of the smoothest writing pens I have, just glides over the paper but still provides some feedback about the paper texture. It lays down a nice, slightly wet line, virtually never skips. A good starter, it's uncommon for it to not start right away, even after a few days unused. The Japanese Medium nib is about the same width as an American or European fine, a good bit finer than a Euro Medium. It's not enough that this pen looks, feels and writes like a pen at least double the price if not more, it also comes with a converter for bottled ink! Granted, it's a squeeze bulb not the screw piston most people seem to like, but it seems to hold a lot of ink for a converter. The only thing abut this pen that I don't love is the grip section, it's a little more slender than I prefer, but that's really a small quibble. Overall it's a nice functional pen and an incredible value. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Four stars for a pen that does not claim to be more than it is
April 20, 2017
For the price, you can't complain if one of them isn't perfect. They are not the best but a couple of the pens in my set of four write really well. I also like the grip. Besides, you can use a converter in another universal size pen if one of these have a bad nib.
but they're otherwise great pens to learn with and to fiddle with
June 6, 2016
These are obviously not top-of-the-line pens. Jinhao only come with a medium nib, which I find to be too wide for my preferred ink (Noodler's Baystate Blue) and the mediocre copy paper that circulates in my office, but they're otherwise great pens to learn with and to fiddle with, and I don't worry about losing them when I'm out and about. Also the nibs/converters and the nib housing are completely interchangeable between the pens, so I've only every inked up two pens (with different inks,) but I change the body to suit my mood. An easy way to show off a pen collection without having to clean the all out. I would probably buy again if different body styles were available, though the slightly upgraded Jinhao models aren't that much more money.
The pens look beautiful and write very nicely
May 16, 2016
The pens look beautiful and write very nicely. However, with long experience using fountain pens made in USA, Europe, and Japan, I can say that the mechanisms feel lighter and less precisely made than the more well known major brands. The snap of the cap when placing it on the pen does not feel as solid as my other pens, and more importantly the screw mechanism of the refillable cartridge seems to have a bit of play. One of the four cartridges was not assembled properly, with the internal sealing gasket out of alignment. As a result, that one cartridge will not fill. I am deciding how to replace it. All that said, I like the look, I like the writing feel, and I believe this pen pack to be an amazing bargain. I look forward to using these pens regularly.I will note that the stainless steel pen in this set, is not the same as a very similar one sold individually on Amazon. The other pen has more gold on the nib, writes more smoothly, and has a different refillable converter cartridge. The only differences external are a different script word on the band and, on the other pen, no JinHao log on the top of the clip.
I was pleasantly surprised!
March 13, 2016
I have been collecting both modern and vintage fountain pens for years. I have pens that usually range in the hundreds of dollars down to 70-100 dollars. These pens, which I purchased to give away in hopes of spreading the fountain pen bug among members of my family, are surprisingly well made and perform extremely well. The nibs are a bit wet for my taste but that can be corrected. I would recommend these instruments to anyone who is cost conscious but wants a fountain pen. One word of caution: every single pen totally leaked the first fill - I do not know why but after the initial fill they have stopped leaking and are quite dependable.
Good quality fountain pen for price
July 29, 2015
Got these pens on a lark. Someone in my job had a magazine on fountain pens, and they looked cool, but they were all expensive (up to 750k). I looked online for some cheap fountain pens, and after some searching found these.Upon receiving these pens, I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful they were. A coworker had a much more expensive fountain pen and he remarked that these pens are beautiful as well. They come with a twist load cartridge for ink (ink sold separately). I also ordered the 25 preloaded cartridges and they work amazingly. The weight of the pens feel good in my hand.As for writing, I found that the ink sometimes is difficult to get it to flow. Rinsing the nib almost always fixed the issue. Unfortunately, one of the nibs broke when I tried to clear it, but this may have been to my heavy handling. When the ink does flow, these pens work wonderfully. I have received many compliments on them, and carry one with me everywhere.
Great deal!
May 13, 2015
I recieved these four pens in a padded envelope. The pens were individually wrapped in plastic sleeves and in perfect shape. There is no box or carrying case. They are all heavy metal, with a plastic ink converter. Both nib and converter can be swapped out. The converter does not allow ink to completely fill the chamber but it still writes smoothly. Larger cartridges fit these pens and work quite well. All four pens have the gold tone trim and are quiet attractive. They are a great addition to any collection. I filled the silver pen with Edelstein Sapphire and the black pen with Aurora. The nib is not flexible but writes well. The only imperfections are: 1. that upon starting, you must restart because of dryness and 2) the clip is basically useless because it is too hard to pull open. Overall, I think this is a great pen for the price and getting four at one time is a real treat.

Great Value, But I Personally Prefer the Lamy Safari
August 21, 2017
It looks great feels nice in the hand and is made rather nicely for such an inexpensive pen, especially considering it comes with a pretty decent converter. It has a great style, especially the shape of the body, grip and nib. The only downsides for me are the really small grip section which is tiny for most hands and the significant leaking of ink onto the grip section. You often end up with ink on your hand while using this pen, especially if you have it stored in your pocket for a while and then try to use it. If you don't want either of this problems I suggest spending a bit extra and getting a Lamy Safari which I prefer for everyday use.
Solid Fountain Pen
March 18, 2017
My first fountain pen. I've had it for about three weeks and it comes out extremely smooth as I expected. Writes beautifully and character from your pen strokes can be seen in the writing. Only thing I can complain about is it seems to "leak" in a way, if you touch the back side of the silver point you will get ink all over your hands. I've adjusted to avoid this, but will still end up doing it every once in a while and it can be annoying.Overall good purchase and I will be buying refill cartridges when the initial cartridge runs out.
Elegant and professional pen
January 7, 2017
I bought this pen as a gift for a friend of mine, and it looks great. Very professional and elegant, wonderful for a man or woman. The only difficulty involved putting in the ink cartridge. I'm a novice to these types of pens, but even after following instructions, the ink would not flow. Like the genius I am (heavily sarcastic), I decided to then yank the cartridge out so I could try to place it back in and hopefully get things working. As expected, half the ink came flying out and my fingers were stained for the rest of the day. I managed to get it right with my second try (I bought two of these pens). I also felt a little like Shakespeare, with the ink on my fingers after a long day of play-writing. So I made the best of my foolishness, but would caution other novices to be more careful!
Smooth Expirience but Buy extra Ink!
December 2, 2016
This is my first fountain pen. I originally purchased it so that my hand would cramp up less when I wrote long passages. I'm a writer who likes to write stories by hand, so staying comfor table in the wrist was a must. I must say I got more than I bargained for.Dealing with the ink was a bit of a mess at first but entirely easy to pop in and go. It ran out pretty quickly for me, but as I mentioned before I write pretty extensively. The expirience is smooth and my hand barely got tired after hours of writing. Also the pen design is smooth, simplistic, and beautiful I just love it.What I wasn't expecting, though, was for my handwriting to change. It became more elegant and refined after using the pen for just a few days.Overall, I can see why Pilot is a leader in the writing tools market. You won't regret buying this pen but make sure to buy a pack of extra ink to go with it, trust me you'll need it if you plan on writing a lot!
Soak before you use! (Great starter pen!)
January 14, 2016
I've had this pen for about 2 weeks, and I just got it working. It looks beautiful on the outside, but when I first got it the up strokes were terrible. A family member who is very knowledgable about fountain pens said that they had heard it was a great pen and they were shocked I didn't like it. They eventually recommend soaking it in water and a tiny bit of dish soap for awhile (until all the ink was out) and it pretty much fixed it! It writes very nicely now. The ink isn't my favorite, but that's an easy fix. I'd definitely recommend this for an starting pen!
This is a very nice pen. Nicely made
October 3, 2015
This is a very nice pen. Nicely made, with a nice presentation box and it comes with both a cartridge and an adapter for the ink of your choice. However, having said all of that, one thing I was disappointed in is the smoothness of writing. I had read reviews that said it writes like a Pilot Precise V5 RT (my absolute favorite non fountain pen of all time -- I have use these for years and am *never* disappointed). However, for me, I found this definitely not the case. The movement of the nib over the paper is not as smooth as I had hoped, and neither is the ink flow. It is kinda "scratchy".I'm not sure if this is caused by the ink I'm using (black Parker Quink 57ml made in France (according to the bottle)) or if it is just the way the nib is.

Good and cheap.
June 12, 2017
For the price these pens are very good, but they are still not as good as some more expensive pens. If you want to see if you will like using fountain pens these would be a great idea. I dropped one and the cap doesn't stay on as tight as it did before, but it still works. These are made in China.

March 25, 2017
I recommend Jinhao 250 pens for beginners in the world of fountain pens. These pens are affordable and even if they lack quality and manufacturing consistency the purchase isn't burning a hole in your pocket. In the course of three years I still have 2 of the original 4 pens purchased in top notch condition. I have been very careful with keeping them. The other 2 pens have become replacement parts if anything is to go wrong with the 2 good pens. These pens are great for a couple of reasons. The first is they come with refillable converters. For people looking to have the contact of stained fingers this is a place to look. Beyond stained fingers with converters included with these pens a few other things are learned. A refillable converter allows the user to select which ink will be used upon each depletion of the reservoir.. I suggest remembering that reservoirs if a new color is for to refill the converter with water and flush until water is the only thing coming out of the nib of the pen.The weight of the pen might be a little heavier than the average pen in the market, but I like the weight. The weight of these pens allowed me to know something was in my hand and the tool was crafting my thoughts. The nib of the Jinhao 250 is exceptional for the price and quality of the pen. There have been many days that I have thought about comparing it to the nib of the LAMY Safari. I normally take notes with a Jinhao and a LAMY and the nib, a medium nib, is smooth and has just the right ink flow. Especially when using Noodler's ink.
One great pen, 2 decent ones, and 1 i would never use
August 1, 2016
Each pen runs differently which is the main con of this product. In terms of just looks, i really like all of them except the orange one because it's super tacky. i just like simple designs and colors. the maroon one for me runs like a 5 star product, but the black and silver one run like a 2-4 star depending on how it's feeling that day. they feel solid in the hand and the grip is not slippery which is a great plus. the pens just need to be more consistent across the board.

February 23, 2016
I was very excited for these pens. I am a long term fountain pen user, but my budget does not always match my tastes. I was hoping that these would be an inexpensive decent, everyday option. They have been problematic. One converter broke almost immediately even with gentle use (all plastic converter), and another converter began leaking. The converters do not feed automatically; I have to open the pen periodically and twist the converter a bit to reload. I got one of the pens working pretty well, but now it is leaking between the base of the nib and the pen proper. For the brief few days that this one pen seemed to be working fairly well (except it would not feed automatically), I liked the feel of it, and the scratchiness of the nib seemed to resolve. I did order some new converters, hoping that maybe a little better converter might help some of the issues. The nibs have been a bit scratchy as well. Interestingly, I went in to shop for some new fountain pens, and I did not think I would order any more Jinhao pens, but I did order two "higher end" ones. They are still quite inexpensive, and with free Prime shipping, I thought I would give them a try. I realize that these pens are not Waterman's (I do have one) or some other expensive pen, and I guess I should be happy with what I got. I am hoping to be able to give better reviews to the two new ones I ordered and also to these after I get the new converters in.
The color was cool, the weight was nice
September 18, 2015
First, I was really excited when I got these last month. The color was cool, the weight was nice. I put four different color inks inside and tried with joy. However, as a beginner, I didn't know much about qualities. After I tried Pilot, Lamy, Schneider, I realize what a truly nice pen is like.Comparing to the other brands, these Jinhao pens have poor quality. The ink dries up quickly and it takes forever to go down. The nib is not comfortable to write with. And one of them leaks.Anyway, these four pens are cheap and okay for beginners to learn.
NO INK
September 2, 2015
I usually read all of the product description, but this one slipped past me. I didn't read the questions section either, was on vacation when ordering, and half a sleep. They are quality pens, my first fountain pen and boy I can't imagine a pen that is $200.00, wow. Back to the reading the description, NO INK COMES WITH THE PEN.In retrospect, maybe the ink would dry or something else. But again, NO INK WITH PEN, A PAIN IN THE BUTT.I would give 4 stars, but no ink and really not telling us that in plain English for newbies in the fountain pen world, so 3 stars for quality and that's it.

Good pen
April 12, 2017
Good fountain pen. Refilling using the included bladder can be a bit tricky. But, it gets the job done. I have noticed that the pen has started to run and pools a bit on the pen's top. I've had to use Q-tips to absorb all of the excess ink so that my fingers don't get stained.
It's just okay.
December 28, 2016
For the price of the pen, I would say its an okay product. It takes a few tries until I can get it to glide effortlessly, and even then at some point it will leak ink on to the paper, and all over my hands. I am not too disappointed because I really believe you get what you pay for, and for 12.00 I did not expect a whole lot.
Ok for the price
November 28, 2016
It's good for the price. It skips a little sometimes but overall a nice fountain pen.I think it scratches on the paper a little as well, but not really all that noticeable.
Not a Bad Pen
February 18, 2016
I purchased this pen to use for writing cards at work and have had mixed results with it. Physically, it feels good in the hand and doesn't require a tight grip. The lettering looks similar to disposable Pilot Razor Point pens (which both now and forever will be the greatest product Pilot has ever created). Unlike ballpoint pens, fountain pens do not require pressure on the nib to write, as the ink is free-flowing, so they can be fantastic for people who struggle with writer's cramp.I have a couple of qualms with this product, but they may not be true for everyone who purchases it. My pen started skipping almost immediately out of the box. Cleaning out the nib seems to help for a little while, but with use, it quickly returns to skipping strokes. It also goes through ink much more quickly than I expected. This is not a flaw with the product itself, but any purchaser needs to realize that, as with printers, the main expense over time will be the ink, not the pen.All in all, I would probably not purchase this product again. It's okay for what it is, but I'd recommend you take your $12 and go buy a box of these: http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Razor-Point-Marker-11001/dp/B00006IFJN/
Uncomfortable
October 4, 2015
This pen is an excellent value for the money. This well-balanced fountain pen writes smoothly and reliably. Mine is a medium, which you would expect to write smoother, though Japanese nibs tend to run small by 1/2-1 size. It's fairly hefty for a plastic pen, weighing in at 25.5 grams. The down side, at least for me, is the extremely steep detent at the top of the section. This is located precisely in the center of my grip area, so the detent digs sharply into my thumb. In order to write comfortably I have to change my grip higher or lower, which just exchanges one discomfort for another. Because of this I wouldn't use the pen for an all-day writer, but will instead use it for some odd-ball ink color, or maybe just give it away. If you normally hold your pen close to the nib then this shouldn't be an issue.Another minor complaint some people may have is the proprietary cartridge, but that really doesn't bother me.
It's a Leaker
July 26, 2015
Pen looks great and writes great. However, after about 6 months it started leaking ink ND eventually became worthless. I had to throw away because I kept getting ink all over my hands. I guess you get what you pay for. In the first 6 months, I received tons of compliments on how good looking the pen was and how well it wrote. But due to mine leaking, I will not be buying a new one.

The barrels are really nice, but the ink dries up and doesn't flow out very well after the initial fill.

Returned them after one leaked all over my desk
They are a good weight but do not always post well
March 26, 2017
I purchased these as a way to reorient myself to fountaIn pens. i had previously used fountain pens in high school but I found them tobe a little inconvenient andswitched to ball point pens. These arrived very fast, timely. They are a good weight but do not always post well. I have only used two of the four pens. Unfortunatlely these two have nib /feed problems. One of them will drop a single droplet of ink periodically and the other has a starting problem. I do like the way these write, smooth, on the drier side, when they are not giving me grief. I intend to swap the nib/feeds with the remaining two pens in the hope of getting two pens which write without the fore mentioned problems. Although these pens are inexpensive I do not think I would buy them again.
They worked fine for the first few days

They worked fine for the first few days, but after only a seemly short time of disuse, they dry up and stop working altogether. Low quality, wouldn't buy again.
$5 for a fountain pen--you're getting what you pay for
January 8, 2017
Dry nibs, leaky feed, cheat feel, horrible overall experience.Make sure you store these little gems upright so the ink sorta stays put. However, for the $5/pen price, you're not getting anything that should be better than total crap.
1 pen out of 4 works, and not terribly well at that. But they're pretty. And cheap.
September 2, 2015
Okay. So. Here's the thing. Of the four pens I've received, one has a nib that's ground improperly (or something), meaning that it skips and starts ALL THE TIME. Another has problems filling up with ink (it just... won't), and the third fills properly, but then ink dribbles back out the filler hole! The last one works and fills alright, but only after fiddling with it for quite a while to get it started writing.Once it *does* start writing, though, it's wonderful. Nice, thick lines; pleasantly heavy feel; would be one of my favorites so far, if it didn't take a minute and a half to get it to write. And overall, the pens *do* look gorgeous. Don't get me wrong. They're beautiful. But seriously, spring for a Jinhao X450 -- I hear they're a lot better than these (these, by the way, are Jinhao X250s) -- or a Pilot Metropolitan (which, I can attest, works perfectly fine). That being said, they were two bucks apiece. Why the hell am I complaining?

Meh!

I am not really happy with the pen. I was hopeful it would be awesome but, it's not great. It leaks a lot, it has difficulties writing and, I end with up ink all over my hands.
Eh, ok for starters but its definitely not a keeper.
June 12, 2017
The pen states its a medium, however compared to my other fountain pens it does not write as a medium. It feels more toward the fine point end. I did read reviews of the pen leaking and I figured no it shouldn't however I have noticed it leaks quite a bit when compared to my other fountain pens. I would only recommend this product to someone who is looking to try a fountain pen but even then, its a so so. Doesn't seem like it'll last and pilot forces you to buy their refills another drawback. Was hoping to keep this one as a spare, but its not even worth as a spare considering all the ink that is draining. Maybe I got a bad batch. oh well at least it was not as expensive as other fountain pens.
Good company; defected pen.
January 15, 2017
Pen leaked ink upon first use. Tried cleaning and used a different cartridge from the original. Same issue so I used standard ink with the reusable cartridge but it continued to bleed. It could just be an issue with this piece individually, but I'm disappointed with the quality. Company is solid with good products, but this pen had a defect, and just didn't do it for me. Might want to try a different pen from this company as they have some great stuff.
it leaks...

Initially, I loved this pen. I was trying to make a move to fountain pens, and after some research, I picked this up as my first attempt (first attempt in 10-20 years, as I used fountain pens in school as a kid). I owned a fountain pen years ago, but I had an issue with it skipping - leaving blank spots on the paper when I wrote to quick. I was pleasantly surprised when I got this pen, because it did not have that issue. It wrote beautifully, even a quick pace. This pen became my go-to pen, even though i have some very nice pens from parker, cross, and montblanc. After the first month, I noticed that i was constantly getting small amount of ink on my fingers where they contacted the pen. I was unable to locate the leak, and researched on line. I was unable to find a solution, and the amount of leaking seemed to increase. After 3 months of using the pen daily, the issue has become unbearable, and I have given up. I can't continue to use this pen and have my hands covered in ink.I should note that I don't think that the leaks were due to any damage inflicted on my behalf. The pen went from my shirt pocket, to my desk, to my nightstand. It was never dropped, or took any jolts. I should also note that I was using pilot namiki black ink cartridges. While I like the design of this pen and the quality of the writing, I cannot deal with the leaks.PROs: design, smooth writing at a quick pace, no skippingCONs: it leaks!
Dried Out Ink :(
January 19, 2016
I received mine and followed the directions. I got to scratch out a couple letters but all of the ink was dry. I love pens and was not expecting anything fancy, but this was a let down. I bought it as a little gift to myself for my birthday. I own very nice roller and ballpoint pens. This was going to be my entry into fountain pens, I was so excited.
Dry and scratchy
October 3, 2015
I am using the Namiki refills after giving up on the converter but this thing is terribly stingy with ink flow. I watch video reviews online and the writing looks much different than the pen I am using. I press hard sometimes and give it a shake over the sink to get things moving but it is more annoying than it is worth. The converter is too much trouble as well. It doesn't hold much ink and an air bubble gets in and separates the ink from the pen. This will likely sit in a drawer for years until I give it away.

Missing cap

Ill chang this if I can figure out how to get an answer. One of the 4 pens was missing its cap. The black pen didnt have a cap. Can I get a replacement without returning the whole set? This is a pain
You get what you pay for.

These work for all of 5 minutes until they dry up. And the pen is very thick and heavy which makes it quite strenuous to write with. Get a pilot if you want a cheap fountain pen,
They look good but break easily
March 3, 2017
One of the pena broke the first time it was used and another one dies yesterday. The definitely don't last very long. They look nice though and write decently while they're alive.
Would not waste time and money on these
November 24, 2016
Would not waste time and money on these. Look great, write good, but the refillable cartridges work 2-4 times, then the seal holding the ink in breaks, and the pens are unusable. Would not be so bad if the disposable cartridges designated for this product actually worked, but they are too short for the barrel, and consequently are not operable. A complete waste of effort. The old adage, "you get what you pay for" is certainly true in this sense.

You get what you pay for. Cheap Chinese knock-off pens with scratchy nibs and unreliable converters. Not good for a beginning fountain pen enthusiast because of all the difficulties in making it write smoothly or just write at all. Good for someone that wants to tune nibs I suppose, but I'm not that person.
Pretty Paperweights
April 22, 2016
These arrived about a month earlier than expected, they look fine and have have a pleasant heft to them. Unfortunately, three of them are completely useless because they are all missing the same gasket on the cartridges. This leaves me with one potentially useful pen; I'll see if the final cartridge works after my ink arrives.

leaks like a geyser
July 10, 2017
Worked great to start, first time I replaced ink it started leaking like crazy.
Leaky
May 2, 2017
Upon doing some more research on these after troubles I was having, it looks like these pens are very prone to leaking. Mine has a tendency to leak in the gap where the nib meets the section. It will constantly leak ink all inside of the cap. When I put the cap on the top of the pen, then ink then runs down the body of the pen onto my hand. While definitely a smooth writer, this one is going to have to go in the bin. It's a shame, I just bought a big box of cartridges for this thing.
Wouldn't recommend this.
April 27, 2017
It didn't write smoothly, so I sent it back. Replaced it with a Lamy and immediately felt the difference. Wouldn't recommend this.

Everything was intact when delivered. However, the pen does not produce ink. I followed all the advice on how to make this quirky pen work, but to no avail.

What a disappointment. I was SO excited for this pen to arrive. It had been four years I hadn't used a fountain pen.Issues??- The biggest issue is that the ink does NOT flow smoothly. I have noticed this on the pages that have been printed out of the printer. It takes several strokes for it to start and almost always the writing is interrupted. So frustrating. I have seen it do LESS on a regular paper.- Second issue- when you place the cap on the back of the pen while using it, it makes the back half of the pen heavier than the front and you always have to apply extra pressure on the pen to keep it facing down and writing.I am so sad- I am a big pen junkie. I love PENS! I had so many expectations with this pen- but so disappointed!
