Very satisfied with my purchase of this JinHao 250 pen
February 18, 2017
I purchased this pen so I would have a medium point with red ink for my writing. My other fountain pen is a H.Q. Baoer 388 with a medium point nib. I have black ink in that one. I have been trained in calligraphy so I know how to write with fountain pens but have been away from them for a long time. So far both of these pens have been everything I might want. I have used this pen for just a few minutes and at this point it is just a bit scratchy. I assume that will fade and become smoother over time but is well within acceptable parameters. I also ordered a Nemosine Fission Fountain Pen, Extra Fine German Nib, Ice (NEM-FIS-07-EF) for my primary pen as I like most of my writing to be small and fine. However these pens will be used when I want to emphasize a point as they have medium points. I have no problem carrying around three pens in my briefcase. All three have distinctly different looks so they will be easy to tell apart. I decided to upgrade my writing materials when I switched to a Wanderers notebook/diary. I will use it for work and for personal use. This pen looks very good. Looks are important but even more important is how it writes and if it leaks and splotches as that can ruin a page.I apparently received the real JinHao rather than a knockoff. Thanks to the reviewer who posted pictures. The pen I received matches what was identified as a true JinHao 250 fountain pen. The ink feed is fine so far. I will update this review if I find any significant issues with this pen down the road. I purchased this from Jtwang and it was fulfilled by Amazon.
One of the hidden gems on Amazon
July 14, 2016
This pen is an excellent one, not just for looks, but is the smoothest, cleared pen I have ever written with. I found it so good, that I've used it for the last semester of my senior year in high school, and it withstood multi page essays and late night notes better than I did. It tends to use a lot of ink, so ultra fine writing can get a bit hard to read, but with big hands and a large script, it is excellent for me.This pen is heavy to hold, which can get annoying for the first while, but with every day use, you get stronger forearms and greater dexterity. I would buy it again if I had need of one, which I don't, as this one holds up better than I could rightly expect for such a low price. This is one of the gems hidden in Amazon. I wish I could find stuff like this every day.
Unbelievable for the price
May 22, 2016
The pen looks incredibly nice and professional. Balance is great with the cap posted and not posted. Nib is great and ink flows well (using this ink: 25 PCS Jinhao International Size Pen Ink Cartridge to Fit Fountain Pens, Black, 5 per Pack) A little on the heavy side when posted but isn't really an issue when writing. I have had some small skipping issues, but not too often. The only thing you should be worried about is quality control. Just read through all of the reviews and you'll see the same thing over and over again. For $2.50, your best bet is to buy three or more of these pens and test them all. I got lucky and my first pen worked flawlessly, but other people seem to be reporting 50/50, but even buying four of these is still way cheaper than any other fountain pen of similar quality.
Functional and Fancy
September 22, 2015
6 MONTHS: I use this pen daily and it works better and cheaper than any "normal" pen by a legendary margin. I use cheap blue ink cartridges from the early 90s, but the robust ink flow never skips or leaks - not ever. When I whip it out people take a step back, because it's wildly prestigious looking and heavy - lots of random compliments on the design and ink flow. The pen has also been thrown at high speeds and submerged in liquid, with only a few scuffs. It's just brilliant.
Great pen, experiment with ink types!
July 21, 2015
I love this pen. I need to try a different Ink with it. Depending on the paper, it can be a little scratchy. I've had to clean the NIB a few times with a wetnap or spit after not using it in my purse for some time. OVERALL, great pen, I just need to experiment a bit more with inks in it. The weight is really great for me, not too heavy that it looks like someone is going to try and steal it, and not too light that it feels like it was made completely out of some aluminum plastic BS. Either ways, love it. Thanks for the speedy shipping too.Although, the thumbnail for this item (when trying to review it) looks like a "how to paint your nails guide (blue background; five easy steps) which is why I didn't review this sooner.
superb craftsmanship in these pens even though they are on the cheaper side.
December 17, 2013
My friend has a rather large collection of Mont Black and these write just as well as his do. And without the cost. Ten out of ten.

Solid and Good-looking Pen!
August 15, 2017
I bought this on a whim, because it looked nice and based on the comments it seems like I had a bit more than a 50/50 shot for getting a nice pen. I also know plenty of people who could help if it had nib problems, so I wasn't too concerned. It came with a converter in it, and got to writing basically right out of the box after I filled it with some Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Ryoku ink I had on hand that I use in my other pen. The cap fits snugly and clicks into place and holds there, and also gives the pen a nice solid weight when posted on the end. There's a "Jinhao" engraving on the cap that I think is a very nice touch, and the clip also feels very well-made.Overall, I'm very satisfied, and my pen matches the one in a review above me that is a "real" Jinhao. I gave 4 stars because while my pen came just fine, the packaging wasn't quite stellar, and the product says medium but the engraving on my nib says fine. It feels slightly scratchy compared to my Pilot Metropolitan medium nib, but that may just be because it has a thinner nib.Overall a good pen for $5, and compares decently to my other pens.
and this pen was purchased to satisfy his desire for a fountain pen
March 31, 2017
My fiancé is obsessed with pens, and this pen was purchased to satisfy his desire for a fountain pen.We didn't notice that the description said there was no ink (but after I checked, it actually says that) which was a pretty big disappointment. We were able to find some ink cartridges that were fairly cheap. He likes that the pen is heavier than the average pen, so he can have the weighted feeling as he writes. He also loves the way the pen looks and how fancy and expensive it appears (and in reality, it is a GREAT price!)I do recommend this pen! Just make sure to get some ink ;)

March 28, 2016
This pen is a great pen, with a good bit of weight to it. The ink cartridges that you can get for it fit in quite nicely. It writes very well, but it tends to bleed on thinner paper (could just be my lack of experience) . I ordered two of these pens because I lost the first one, and be th have had trouble with the cap. The first one had an issue where the grip would come unscrewed and so the cap wouldn't always fit on right, and then the whole cap came disassembled (which is an easy fix with a bit of glue). The second pen got a chip on the black plastic part of the cap, and otherwise works fine.Word to the wise, if you write fast or left handed and you often find yourself smearing ink, or writing and then passing over the ink that you just wrote, DO NOT GET THIS PEN, because it will smear, and your hand will get ink all over it.
Great pen, works even after some abuse
March 22, 2016
I like this pen, it's a little heavier than I thought it would have been. However it's a good writer. Upon further reviewing this pen, It's become my 2nd favorite pen... Well until I dropped it, More to come on that.It DOES take international standard cartridges and converters, they just don't seem to friction fit like the converter that came with it. It's smaller than a #6 nib, but the nib works well. I'd say it's a fine to medium nib (perhaps an Asian medium would make sense given it's a Chinese pen.)After using the pen, one day the clip didn't hold on as tight as I thought it was in my pocket and it fell onto cement. The Pen writes the same, didn't even spill any ink. Only difference is the cap doesn't hold as tight now. I haven't had any issues, but I wouldn't leave ink in the pen for an extended period of time without flushing and cleaning now.
Beautiful Craftsmanship
December 8, 2014
I am a relatively new member of the fountain pen crowd, but this pen has been one of my top experiences so far. It came shipped in a low key envelope, but I was truly amazed once I opened the packaging. This pen is beautifully crafted, and has a top of the line feel. It is heavy in a good way, and very simple to refill. My ink of choice was "Olymstore(TM) Hero 56ml Bottled Black Fountain Pen Ink for Workers Students" which can be purchased at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052KLTM6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 . Once I filled the cartridge, I immediately took to testing the pen. It easily glided across the paper, with no excessive friction. The gold trim of the pen, combined with it's beautiful craftsmanship and amazing price set it apart from any other fountain pen available.

September 11, 2014
For the price, this is a great pen! It looks like it cost twenty times as much and writes like it as well. That being said, there is one quality issue that I have had with the pen. Placing the cap on the back end of the pen while I write wore out the "gold" on the end of the pen very quickly. Now there is a ring of silver showing through the gold end. This started to wear out within the first week of using the pen, so their "gold plating" could use some work. But for seven bucks, you can't really complain. One box of ink cartridges cost more than the pen did, and it writes like a champ. And for those wondering, any international standard size cartridge should fit just fine.

Hit or Miss
August 21, 2017
Well, it would seem that this Fountain pen is either a hit or miss. Soooo many great reviews, and Soooo many bad ones to go along with it... with that, I took a chance and bought one, and I missed lol. When I got my pen it worked exactly like all the good reviews says it does; for about 3 days that is. Then the glue holding the gold band on, that says Jinhao on it, came undone. The gold band and the black plastic beneath it fell off without me knowing (go figure) and when I tried to put the cap back on, it instead got stuck. If I had notice that the band had come off before I put the cap back on, then this pen could have been saved. Instead I got a messed up nib now. I gave this pen 3 stars simply because of price. I mean come on, its just a few bucks, and you get what you pay for. Super glue could have saved my pen if I'd notice that the band had fallen off...Hit or miss lol

I wrote the seller for instructions because it has a ink cartridge I have never seen before, received no answer, I would also believe being a sharp pointed pen and just by it's nature it would have child warnings, but there are none.

March 21, 2017
This was my first ever fountain pen and at the time I loved it! I would not suggest it to people who are experienced fountain pen users, but if you are new or trying to decide if you like fountain pens, this is a great first pen. The first time I used it, I put dip pen ink into it and RUINED IT lol. Still, I actually use it as a dip pen for a few months and it wrote very smoothly.
avoid if you have big hands
September 8, 2016
It's well constructed, but I won't end up using this pen much because it's too small for my hand. The Jinhao 250 is just a bit smaller than the 450 (which I like very much), but for my hand that little bit makes all the difference. I would get hand and wrist cramps if I used this one for a long period of time. Also, the polished material is a bit slippery--hard to get a comfortable grip. The pen comes with a converter and works with Waterman cartridges. Despite the picture, it's clearly not meant to be used with the cap posted (that would make it a little bigger) because then it becomes noticeably unbalanced.
What you'd expect for the price
December 31, 2015
Pen is very solid and hefty. Thankfully, it does not look as cheap as it is. However, it is hard to get the ink flowing, even after just a few hours. As the pen warms up in your hand, it will write more easily. Sometimes this means that the ink starts to overflow out the nib. The line is not smooth. Mine doesn't take well to being transported at all, even if it's in a bag where the nib is pointing upwards. Amazon shows the price as being discounted from $40 down to $4, which is part of why I decided to buy it. However, that is a bit of a delusion. The pen's worth is around $5, even if it tries to appear more expensive. Same with the nib, which looks like it has gold accents... Honestly, you're better off getting a cheap Pilot pen, even though they don't take international cartridges. I really wish I had not bought this as my first fountain pen.
Ok pen
August 12, 2014
It came looking like it was second hand product. Glue residues and finger print all over. But decided to keep it (too lazy to send it back). It's hefty penand grips well. Writes well. But i noticed that while I am writing for a while, ink dries up from the nib. I checked the ink level and it was 90% full. If it happens again while I am testing it out, I will send it back.[update]I am sending this thing back and I have to pay for shipping cost (it will be refunded Amazon says tho). It's a good looking pen. But ink dries up while I am writing. Ink flows a lot in the beginning but after about 5 min it stops flowing (ink is full). Since other people are saying the same thing, I will stay away from JinHao for now.

Its a gamble...
May 17, 2017
these pens are inconsistent. I bought 3, one barely writes, one skips a lot, and the third was good, but it shouldn't take me 3 purchases to get a decent pen!
so it does not work
May 8, 2017
i wish the pen worked better than it does, it is hard to fill and when it gets full the ink does not flow from the nib as it should so i had to go back to my Mothers very old pen that works like a champ for being 40 years old( i just dont like to take it out of the house due to the fact its a woman's pen no offence ladie)
You get what you pay for!
May 2, 2017
It's garish and cheap-looking. The nib is hard and scratchy on all paper and it's hard to get the ink flowing. Thank goodness it was only a few dollars. This is a perfect example of why we should avoid Chinese products.
first one was great second one not so much
August 12, 2016
this is my second order for this pen. the first one worked magnificently, so well I ordered a second for a family member. the last one I received wont write, the ink is not making it to the nib. I wish they hadn't change the pens internal set up
Watch What You Buy
March 8, 2016
Whilst I am not a pen mongrel, this is a great pen. This being my first fountain pen I was impressed by how easily this writes. It was not scratchy but pretty smooth. I also bought Parker Quink and it writes well. Compared to a ballpoint, this is a significant improvement unless you compare then to uni-ball signos and G2s. The finish is very nice and was surprised to see real metal. This easily compares to pens 10x the price.UPDATE: I ordered 3 more 2 in the silver and one in black lacquer with white stripes. The black lacquer one started leaking ink and I had to throw it away (at school and couldn't deal with it) and the silver ones are knock-offs i believe. They have a different cap (had jinhao in a different font and no j on the top of the pen clip and the gold was not very well... gold!) and the nib and feeding mechanism are different (weird feed and a nib that is rough). The converter is also different. It is smaller in size compared to a actual jinhao and is all a clear plastic. My picture compare the real to the fake. Top or left pen is the real one
Looks great, Innards not so good...
December 25, 2015
The pen looks like a great pen, but it does skip quite a lot. It leaks into the cap and I am fearful it will soak my shirt pocket. It has a great look and amazing weight, the stainless steel really adds to the product. However, the pen wont even draw up ink into the converter..Its a solid product on the outside, however, the guts definitely needs work! spend the extra 5 or 6 bucks and buy a duke or something comparable. Still a cheap pen for someone on a budget, but made much better, guts wise.

Bad experience!!!!!!
August 14, 2017
I could not get an even flow of ink to attempt to write. When it would finally start to write it would immediately stop. Ink did not flow at all. Very disappointed. Price is so low I'll just throw it away instead of sending back
Cheaply Made Pen Doesn't Work.
June 27, 2017
The pen sold to me was broken when it arrived. The section connecting the nib/feed to the barrel is not secure. The nib was stuck in the cap. There is no support for the barrel to attach the section/feed nib assembly. To make a long story short. The Pen shipped to me does not work.
Waste!!!!
April 16, 2017
Never worked wasted money Ink cartridge did not work they sent. Dried out!
Not worth
January 8, 2017
put the first ink cartridge, after 10 minutes I got it to work. Next day I tried to use and I realized that the ink was all over the place (leaked) and now it does not workBoth a German made and I do not have any issues (by the way the German unity was a dollar more expensive that this)
Did not receive pen
September 16, 2016
This looked like a classy pen, and since I was getting into the habit of using fountain pens, thought it was a good deal.I was disappointed that my pen never arrived. Of course the company kept my money. Beware these "great deals" from China.
Disappointed
