Side by Side Comparison of: Wooden Mallet vs Winsome Wood

After reading the Amazon reviews for various luggage racks, I chose this one as the best quality for a reasonable price. I'm quite happy with it, as it is sturdy and nice looking. It comes pre-assembled, unlike some of the cheaper and more flimsy ones.

Lightweight and very pretty, this luggage rack usually stays in our guest room, but makes special appearances in other locations as we pack and unpack from vacations. Makes you feel like you're living in a fancy resort that goes that little extra mile, even if it's your own messy home. :-)

Really handsome rack! We bought two of them for our guest room. They are lightweight, sturdy, and the perfect size for everyone's carry-on luggage, while also accommodating larger pieces. Mostly I like the attractive tapestry straps and the nice polished wood, which go well with our guest room decor.

I love it. I keep it in my walk in closet. I put boxes, or things that I need to look in instead of sitting on the floor or dragging them to another room to be more comfortable. I really bought it for an elderly Aunt and Uncle who were coming from out of state to put their suitcase on, like in a hotel, so it would be easier for them. Now I use it.

It's exactly what I wanted. I ordered a medium oak finish and it looks very nice (matching the other oak pieces in the bedroom), and the tapestrry straps complement the finish. The straps are muted in color, the flowers (roses?) joined together by a floral garland. Folded to put away, it's a mere 3 and 1/2 inches, great for someone with limited closet space. I couldn't test the weight it holds, but my guests didn't complain.

What a great deal these are. I put two of these in each bedroom of a vacation rental property and the wood construction has been both attractive (bringing a sense of classy quality compared to aluminum .luggage racks) and durable.

These come completely assembled and ready to use. I got 12 of them and, being assembled and ready to use, saved a bunch of time compared to alternatives that required assembly.

Exactly what I needed. Gives guess more flexibility with the luggage not having to bend down. In the process of ordering one for each guest bedroom.

This unit is exactly as described and the quality is exceptional considering the price, It is very sturdy and well constructed.

The luggage rack is beautiful walnut color and makes my guests feel that much more special. It was something I wanted for a long time but seemed friviouls purchase. But now that I have one, I love it. I use it when I'm pack for trips so I can keep the luggage off the bed. Very handy.

I bought three of these for our 3 guest rooms. It gives the rooms a nice "hotel" or B&B feeling, and gives the guests a place to put their suitcases instead of on the nice bed linens or the floor. It looks rich and is very functional. I'd definitely buy them again! They fold up well and easy when not in use, or I put a cozy guest throw, folded up on mine. It looks very welcoming.

Have yet to let any guests try this out, but we've used it to hold boxes while we are packing and the rack is steady and seems sturdy enough. The wood tone and straps are neutral, so we think buying these was a good purchase.

OK, and gets the job done. More lightweight than I had hoped, and a bit more flimsy compared to one I already have. However, looks nice, doesn't tip, holds big bags.

It is a little hard to tell the color of the wood from the picture. This is a bit darker than I hoped for, but otherwise it was exactly what I was looking for to put next to the bed in my guest room/

I travel extensively for work- and I found even at home my suitcase is always out in my room either being unpacked or packed. I got tired of bending over all the time, and this stand easily managed the ~50lbs and large size of my favorite checked bag. It helps make the bag more accessible and also helps the room look cleaner. I really need to get one of these for my bestie's house also (lives in another state and I travel there a few times a year) so I don't have to put two chairs together to keep my bag off the ground.

Exactly what I needed, I had purchased one at a local store....it was way to big. This has a very nice look, wood gives a rich appearance and the strapping gives it some character. This is perfect for the spot in my spare room. It is light weight, easy to fold up and tuck away in the closet.

Nice looking luggage rack. However a few cosmetic trim pieces fell off as soon as I took it out of the box. No big deal.

Bought this for my mom and she love it. However, it came with the same chip in the wood of the unit that another reviewer mentioned and posted a picture of. However, she still loves it and uses it.

Like it a lot. Sturdy and well-built. A little disconcerting that it has a warning that it contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer. My wife and I now refer to it as the cancer rack.

Good quality and a reasonable price. Would purchase again (beats having your guests put their suitcases up on the furniture!).

This luggage rack is just what I was looking for - inexpensive, easy to set up, attractive. It looks good in my guest room, and it will be easy to fold if I want to store it. It arrived quickly and undamaged, though the packaging is flimsy (it's nice not to have loads of packing materials to throw away, though!).

Just one minor annoyance: there was a little white sticker on the underside of one of the top rails to let me know that the rack was "Made in Thailand." I peeled it off, but the glue remained. I used wood cleaner followed by wood oil, but the dull stickiness is still there. It doesn't show, since it's on the underside. But why use a sticker in the first place? And if there's some legal reason to do so, why not use a clear sticker that could be left on, or a kind of glue that is easy to remove?

Otherwise, I'm happy with the rack. It's not fine furniture, but it's not meant to be. It's doing its job: it makes my much-used guest room a more welcoming place.

Much smaller that my other luggage racks. Also, the straps are only stapled on, not tacked on like my others which seems better. I will see how it holds up. Okay if you want a small rack for a carry on suitcase I guess.

Promptly shipped - a little flimsy with what look like office staples holding the webbing - but ok for the price.

Expensive for the quality - just average. I would not recommend. Not going through the trouble of returning it as it came in a massively OVERSIZED box and I would have to pay to return it.

I purchased two and returned both because I was disappointed with the quality. They were not heavy like the older ones used to be, the wood was only finished so-so, and the fabric was stapled on in a fashion I did not like.

Decent product. Strapping could be better secured in the grand scheme of things. Overall good. Does the trick of holding large and heavy bags in my guest bedroom. Folds away nicely in the closet.

It was reasonably cheap but it had scratches and such all over.

I really like the look of this rack and use it often inside my bedroom to pack unpack for frequent work travel. However, one of the legs cracked almost fully across. I am not sure what caused the crack as I don't put that much weight on it. I ended up using black electrical tape that sort of blends in to stabilize the crack. Holding up so far but very disappointed it happened.

Arrived nicely packaged however at the bottom of one leg is a 1 inch by 1/4 inch chip. The wood appears very dry and brittle. I glued it on and it is unnoticeable. I don't like the fact that the straps are stapled to the wood. There was a label "Made in Indonesia" that was a bear to get off. this was the best glued part on the assembly. If I hadn't removed it was unsightly. Haven't decided wether or not to keep it or send itt back. Disappointed.

No real complaints except that it doesn't look all that sturdy, so I hope it holds up. Has only been used a few times, but so far, so good. Have my fingers crossed. It's not a bad price when you compare with other luggage racks out there, but they all seem overpriced for what they are.

Rack delivered on time.Rack had a defect on one of the feet. A piece about 2 inches had split away. This did not impact the functionally of the product however, a little wood glue and two clamps over night.... Problem solved. We also added felt feet to the rack to avoid any scratcing of the wood floorsRack looks great, but keep in mind this is not made out of a hardwood. Straps appear to be solid and fastened securlty with a staple.

Legs are uneven. Took the rack out of the box, unfolded it to set it up, and two of the legs are slightly longer than the other two. It's like a table at a restaurant that you need to put a book of matches under. So now, after spending $40, I have to fish out my wood file to even out the legs. I was thinking that for $40, I could take it out of the box and have it work correctly, but apparently I was wrong.

Will it do the job? yes. Is it cheap looking? yes. This should cost around $25 at most. Will return it.

This is strong no problem, but the quality of the finish is like a cheap item from Walmart. For the $38 price I was expecting nice wood with a nice finish, this was a disappointment. I am really surprised by the high ratings for this item.

Looks like it shouldn't cost more than 10 bucks. Looks cheap!

not worth the price, poor quality.

This product is cheaply made. The straps are held together with staples, and the fabric itself is what you would find on old lawn chairs. I didn't think this would hold more than 10 lbs so I returned it.

Looks good, but chipped easily. Also had to glue the screw covers. Keep falling off.

There was a 1/2" X 2" chunk of wood broken off at the pointed bottom. This has happened twice before. It was easier to repair than sending it back.

This item arrived on time but damaged. There is a noticeable chip of wood missing from a bottom leg. The damage did not occur during final shipment because the chip was not in the plastic bag or the box. The appearance of the rack is okay otherwise. It will get limited usage so I hope it holds up. Returning is too much of a hassle.
The damage suggests there is likely a quality control issue at the factory. Accordingly,I do not recommend this product. I should have read the reviews.

I have had bad luck w this rack. I've ordered it before because I buy them for design clients when I decorate their vacation rental condos. Shipping back (I'm in hawaii) is about $70 so I just order more than I need so I can meet my deadlines, and toss the broken ones. I'm sure it's the way they are wrapped for shipping, no cushion. If u get one & it's not broken they are very nice looking!

One leg is cracked (through a doweled area) probably from no protection other than cardboard shipping box. The finish, while a nice dark color, is uneven due to poor prep of wood. Some areas are shiny, others have a rough texture. I may glue and refinish the crack or just send it back. I am too busy prepping for 35 arriving for Christmas!

I have been an Amazon shopper for over 6yrs.; recently placed about 16 orders! This is the first item that was unsatisfactory.

Update: This item was returned. I bought a small folding table instead.

Awful..very poor quality

Not the best quality luggage rack. The straps are just stapled on. The wood finish is rough, not smooth. It does not sit evenly on a bare wood floor but should be fine on carpeting. It will do what is intended to do, though I imagine it may need to be replaced after some use.

Very flimsy. Cheap looking. Unfortunately, a gift. Visited the recipients, and I was not pleased at all. My luggage fell off of one end. A hazard.

Not very well made and I would opt for a different brand if I ever needed additional luggage racks.

This rack looks really cute in the photo. It arrived with one large crack on the top board and a second smaller crack. Completely unusable. The cracks could have happened because it was poorly boxed, with no padding around the rack. (The sellers filed a claim with the shipping company, as if it was the fault of the shipping company that the item was poorly packed.) But if it cracked that badly so easily, I have to wonder how long it would have stood up to heavy suitcases. Basically, sorry to say, this item is not "deluxe": it is a piece of junk.

Did not open or use the rack. Did not like possible problem printed on outside of box. The alarm about a chemical that was dangerous to children.
We could not take a chance on that.

I wish I had read the reviews first, but was in a hurry. First of all, it's not "espresso" colored as pictured. (To me it looks like brown wood with black straps.) In reality, it's all black. I ordered two - they are both all black.
Second, there is no protection at the bottom of the box, so like another reviewer, one of the feet was already broken when I opened the box.
Very disappointed.

The product seems to be made reasonably well for the price, but I purchased an Espresso colored unit and the unit I got was really black.

I didn't have the chance to return it because I needed to use it before I had a chance and now I am stuck with a rack that is the wrong color.

Oh well, it works well, but I just wish it was the same color as advertised.

This item was a nightmare!!! I wanted to use it to put a decorative trunk on - saw the idea in a magazine; I was so excited. The item came in a broken box and was broken!!! Clearly, the seller didn't make sure that this delicate item was packed properly. Even thought it was broken and we sent it back - we also noticed that there was NO WAY that this item would have held up anyway. So disappointed!!!! Looked through so many before ordering - what a waist of time!!! Trunk still on the floor!!!!

Here is my summary of important specs that should help you:

Stain: Espresso - It actually appears to be more of a black. I purchased to match an espresso bedroom set I already have and this rack is considerably darker; I had to shine a flashlight at it to verify that it wasn't actually a true black.

Finish: Visible lap marks and splotches in the top coat. At first I thought they were just smudges of oil etc since its pretty hard to produce a low quality finish on such an easy piece of furniture.

Condition received: visible scratches along the legs. Made me think it was already used, but I have a feeling its just poor quality control from manufacturer.

Packaging: seemed adequate and I do not believe is the cause of all the scratches.

Important Note: Look carefully at the photos and you'll see that the top edges are not flat and that the fabric is actually a couple inches lower than the fabric. If you search around you'll notice the nice racks have the fabric at the same level as the wood edges on top so that your bags sit nicely on them.

Above is why I am returning and finding another one.
