Very useful for a variety of purposes
January 5, 2016
****NOTE: This is a great set of LED lights that serve a specific purpose. However, this is not a stand-alone product. You will need to order a power-source (link below) to go along with the lights. You could also use a 6V battery as well if an outlet is not present. If you have any specific questions about how to connect these, leave a comment and I'll help you as much as I can.****I used these lights to create light inside my gun safe. It is a 5ftx3ft safe and this string of lights was plenty long enough go around the entire interior. The adhesive wasn't strong enough though so I had to use some additional velcro to keep the lights in place. I also used a magnetic switch (link below) to turn the lights on when the safe door was open and turn the lights off when it was closed (this is not necessary though). Overall, I am very happy with the lights. They are plenty bright and very sleek and easy to hide for accent lighting.I liked them so much I actually bought a second roll and both rolls have lasted several months now with regular use. Highly recommend as long as you don't need to depend on the adhesive too much.Power Source ($7):http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006NTNGN0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00Magnetic Switch ($6):http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009SUF08?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00The three pictures show what I used the lights for. The first picture shows the safe as a whole. You can see how bright these lights are that they completely light up my large safe. The second picture shows the sagging cornors. The sag slowly gets worse and worse if I don't mess with it every week. The third picture shows the magnetic switch that turns the lights on when the door opens and turns them off when the door closes. Very easy to install.
Fantastic Bright Waterproof Lights
December 13, 2014
I purchased these lights for my son's stick figure halloween costume which can be seen here (http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-LED-Stick-Figure-Costume/).They arrived well packaged on a nice spool as shown in the product photo. The strip itself is very narrow (not much wider than an individual LED) and well constructed with a smooth curved "bubble" of rubber to make them waterproof. You can cut them to length but must use the cut marks after every three LEDs (which is typical for these types of LED strips). The rubber coating can be easily (but carefully) removed with a razor blade to expose wide copper pads for soldering. The same power source can be use for the entire 5m LED strip or just a tiny segment of 3 LEDs with no difference in brightness. A handy DC adaptor is included for connecting to a power supply. The adhesive backing was very handy and worked much better than expected on cloth material.I was really impressed with how bright these were. They worked very well with just a 9v battery attached and AMAZINGLY well with a 12v lithium-ion battery pack.On Halloween my son was lighting up the whole sidewalk as he walked along so we didn't even need a flashlight in complete darkness.Great price and highly recommended. I hope this review has helped with your purchasing decision.
Perfect Led setup.
September 12, 2014
This thing pulls about 2 amps an hour without a dimmer. If you want to use this with a dimmer setup that's easy, and for indoor use I recommend (HitLights 5-24V Easy Plug Dimmer for Single-Color LED Strip Light, 2A Max) with (niceEshop 10 Pcs 2.1x5.5mm Male Jack DC Power Adapter for CCTV Camera) and (12PCS Pack 2.1mm x 5.5mm Female CCTV Power Jack Adapter for 5050 3528 Flexible led strip use BY ZITRADES).With those 3 things with this led light setup you can get this strip down to about 0.1amps per hour at about 1watt. While this is very dim, it will not Kill your battery over night if you use 18+ AH battery, I'd recommend 35AH with this, so the less AH you pull out the longer the battery last, hook it all up to a solar panel with charge controller, maybe a timer. You could have this led light system up and running all night every night off the grid. This timer (GadgetZone (US Seller) DBPower® CN101 DC 12V Digital LCD Programmable Timer Time Relay Switch Support 17-times Daily Weekly Program, White) along with, (GSM CYC-SOLC10A 10 AMP Solar Charge Controller, Black) and (Grape Solar GS-S-105-Fab8 Monocrystalline PV Panel, 105-watt). and its a perfect off grid system. Make sure if you get a setup like this you keep the stuff that shouldn't really get wet out of the weather.Monocrystalline solar panels are more expansive but a little smaller then poly. If you want cheap 100 Watt solar panels in the 130-140$ range look into these brands, Renogy, and Grape Solar, and Windynation. They all have nice affordable cheap but great polycrystalline panels.other items that can go with this and a 12v battery are.(Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black Fused 2-Pin Quick Disconnect Plug )(Allstar Performance ALL76232 Universal Two Wire Connector with 12" Loop)Batteries(PS-12180NB 12v 18Ah Lead Acid Battery 12VOLT - PACK OF 2 Offered by Ace Comp Solutions.)or(Powersonic PS-12350NB - 12 Volt/35 Amp Hour Sealed Lead Acid Battery with Nut-Bolt Connector. Work great and look amazing as accent lighting for my Deck
February 14, 2014
I installed my strips as accent lighting for my newly remodeled deck, tucking them under the hand rail, oriented downward. Turned out pretty sweet and only cost me about $60 to do my entire deck with stairs! You'll have to get a Power Supply Driver Transformer, which you can also find on amazon for pretty cheap (I used "Ledwholesalers 30 Watt LED Power Supply Driver Transformer 120 to 12V" and it works fine). You may also want to get some strip-to-strip connectors if you want to make turns with the strips ("LED PCB Connector- 2 Conductor, 4pcs, Strip to Strip, Any Angle"). These help quite a bit if you're not especially electrically savvy. (Note: If you use these connectors with the waterproof strip, you'll have to peel back a bit of the silicone waterproofing to expose the strip in order to get them to go into the connector)One thing I did to "stop" the strip at one spot and then "continue" them at a spot a bit further away was to cut a connector right in the middle of the wire, then splice the exposed part of the wire with some cheap "doorbell wire" I found at Home Depot. Then you can run the doorbell wire to your next start point and splice the other half of the connector in order to start your next strip. (Hard to explain with words, but it works well)
Great for truck beds.
November 20, 2013
Great LED light strip for under truck bed lids. I have these mounted under my bed rails and they light up the entire bed area. These are easy to cut and modify to your needs.
Bright! Sticky! Cheap!
September 30, 2013
Ran this strip across the beam on my garage ceiling and wired the transformer to a motion detecting outlet switch. Now when I go to get something in the garage, or come home in the car, I get a nice even light across the whole garage. It's plenty of light to keep me from tripping and so that I can find the tool I'm after, and then the motion detecting outlet shuts the light off after a few minutes of no motion. Perfect!

Excellent for our Middle-of-Nowhere Camping!
March 21, 2017
This has been an excellent little product for our primitive camping trips! Packs away very small with almost no weight. We put the little solar panel in our dashboard on our way to our camps and it has always been charged and ready upon arrival. It has provided us with great light for up to two full nights without recharging! It puts off a nice glow through the night outside of our tents, and lights up the site enough to see well even in the middle of nowhere. I like them so much I have purchased two more.
Highly recommended to ease into going green or for ambience
June 20, 2016
Update to original review: Here to order more sets. Original sets worked continuously without fail for almost 18 months. This despite being subjected to torrential sustained rain, occasional hard freezes/snow and occasional basketball hits. Suspect nocturnal critters may have damaged wiring. Even so, these lights have been abused by weather/neglect/critters & still worked until now. Still highly recommend.Original review:Purchased two sets May 2015 to trial solar lights for one area of deck for a teen party. Lights were simple to install and wrap around bottom of deck railing. As of the date of this review, both sets still functioning at 100%. Live in southern USA, so lights do benefit from sunny days. Despite critters and unusual amounts of rain, these lights never failed to come on at dusk. I mention critters because various wildlife (& human kiddos) have on occasion dislodged the solar states. Simply to just adjust or re-stake into ground.Very pleased with ease of use, durability and the ambience of these solar lights. Plan to purchase multiple sets for other areas of deck and yard where use of "electricity" is not feasible but soft lighting would be an advantage..
A must buy

I lined my driveway and walkway to my door withthe rope and they make my yard pop at night, the lights look absolutely amazing and they give off an adequate amount of lighting. I have gotten many compliments and I recently ordered more.
These lights are amazing because they stand up to 45 mph winds
December 3, 2015
I have to give this item 5/5 stars. These lights are amazing because they stand up to 45 mph winds, 6 inches of rain (so far), 52-94 degrees. When fully charged, they are as bright as conventional electric ones. The most important thing to remember is to position the solar thingie so it gets maximum sunlight as long as possible. With a good charge, these suckers last from dusk to dawn. I put several strands up in September just to see how they would last. And amazingly, they still do, bright as ever. Just as nice today as when I first put them up. That was 89 days ago. Have had many compliments on them. Now I want more, even tho the price has gone up a little since September. You WILL enjoy these!!
Wrap around inside the small house, use as a night light
November 19, 2015
Received on time and nicely packed. This I gave to my dad to wrap around his small house to use as a night light. He really loves it. He can walk to the bathroom without using a flashlight. It puts out a lot of light at night in his small house. Wanted to order more later. So far it works as expected.
Warm White - Work Great!
May 6, 2015
Beautiful lights...not white bright, but still very pretty around the pool fence. The 23 foot length advertised is several feet of cord, so not quite as long as I thought they would be. They worked right away, and - except for a few cloudy days - have worked every night!

Inexpensive and surprisingly bright.
March 8, 2017
I was expecting something more like a rope light. I am a tintype artist and needed a red safelight source for my portable tent darkroom that I could power with a cheap lawnmower battery. I was afraid this was not going to be bright enough. But to my surprise, it's just perfect. My biggest problem is I don't need or want the adhesive backing. The peel-off backing is starting to come off and when it does I won't be able to roll it up on its reel again.
Great Lights Especially For The Price
October 12, 2015
I bought these light strips to put on the underside of my car to light up the ground when I opened a door or when the cab lights were on. These seem to be a very good quality for the price. I wouldn't say they are the best by far but they serve their purpose. They are very bright. What it pretty much is is a long flexible electronic board with lights on it. The surface is covered with a thick layer of silicone and the back side has some thin sticky tape. There were some areas where I saw either the silicone or the backing was not completely sealing the strip itself... So if you're exposing it to water I would make sure that's sealed. My application:Since I put these on the underside edges of both sides of my car I had to cut the strip to desired lengths. Once these lights are stuck into place you're not going to be able to get them off without breaking them by the back side peeling off. Be careful with that. The places to cut were kinda difficult to solder. They are flat little tabs and those are never easy to solder onto, especially with silicone melting in the process. I believe every three feet or so there was a place that pieces had been soldered together before it was made into an entire strip. Those joints seem weak as if the solder could break if they got flexed too much. Those are easier to solder of you can cut a strip there. I got these lights soldered and wired in. Being on the underside of a vehicle they will take a lot of dirt and moisture so I siliconed the ends and the entire length of the strip after it had been stuck on to keep moisture out. They work great now and I've had them on for several weeks through driving in rain and sitting outside a considerable amount. They have performed well to this point with quite a bit of abuse compared to other applications... I hope they will last a long time. With indoor applications especially if you keep the strip in one piece, these should last as long as the LEDs don't burn out.
Good lights just be aware of the limitations...
March 11, 2015
This review works for any of the 15ft strip LEDs from various suppliers on Amazon. You can't beat the value but you need to be aware of a few issues.1. The color temperature is off. These strip LEDs are sold as either warm white, cool white and daylight. I have found that warm white has a green tint to it, similar to fluorescents and the cool white / daylight (which are both the same) appears with a purple tint. What I found was that by combining the two I generated an acceptable white color for my applications. I suggest if you purchase one strip of the color you want and see if you like the color temperature. Don't rely on the description.2. They come with connectors that are a bit difficult to connect. In order to use them, I had to (with the non-waterproof versions) use a knife and scrape the top of where the contacts are on the strip to expose the copper so the connectors would make contact. On the waterproof ones, I had to do the same as well as peel away the silicone cover about 1/4" so the connector would fit. After messing with them for a while, I decided for my under-cabinet light application to simply solder wires directly to the strip. It was a lot easier and I didn't have to chase loose connections. If you are going to use the full 15' strip without cutting it, I would recommend purchasing one where the connector is already attached.3. Make sure you get a strong enough power supply. Figure 20 watts per strip and purchase a power supply strong enough for twice that. Also, some power supplies will provide the power instantly while others will have a few second delay. On the larger power models, I found the black plug in supplies (with cords similar to computer cords) had the delay, whereas the encased supplies with the fan that you have to wire up had instant power. I tried a few cheap ones first but they failed early on.Overall these strip lights are great. The fact that you can cut them to various lengths make them quite convenient for a lot of different applications. I knew about the above issues by reading reviews before purchasing so I wasn't disappointed. Bottom line, I did my cabinet lights for around $60 rather than spending $400-$500 at Lowes for the same thing. I also found these strip lights at a local electronics supply store for $80 per strip so they are a great deal here on Amazon.
Great LED strip lights, just not perfect.
February 7, 2015
Great lights. Great price. One portion of the strand had a defect where the clear waterproof coating/silicone caused a bit of a different light pattern. Basically the clear silicone plastic coating was too thin over a few LEDs and so it doesn't act as a diffuser for those lights (see pictures). Fortunately, this is OK for my use but if I was using them for something else I might have returned this one and got a new strand. Something else to note: for soldering new ends and cutting these, stripping that clear silicone coating off to get to the solder pads was kind of a pain, but it works if you're careful. The 3M adhesive backing... so far so good, time will tell. I used almost the whole strand with a 12v 2A wall plug - it got a little warm.
Bought two, and they're different colors
February 17, 2014
First off, I bought two of these LED light strips, and they are different colors. One is a very nice LED white. The other has a purple tinge to it. Both have the exact same packaging labels, but they don't match in color. If the color wasn't off, I'd give these lights a 5 star rating. That issue aside, I am very pleased with these light strips. I initially measured the power consumption at 12v, and each strip that I received drew about 0.8 amps at 12 volts. I am now running them at 11v, and the draw is 0.58 amps on one and 0.56 amps on another (repeated with multiple measuring devices). I'm not sure if I got something different than everyone else, but this is significantly lower power draw than others are reporting. The strips bend fairly easily in one direction, but not in all direction. If you stuck the strip to a table, it would bend easily up into the air or down toward the floor. Trying to make a tight bend keeping it flat to a surface isn't easy or pretty.I will probably buy another two strips and hopefully I end up with some that match in color. I'm sure I'll find a use for them.
Too blue, and technical info
October 9, 2013
Works well, but too blue for my liking. The LEDs are a cool white which makes them very blue. They need to offer a warm white version. Some technical info that is missing from Amazon:1. There is no data sheet or technical information included with the purchase.2. Each group of 3 LEDs draws 17 ma (.017 amps) of current at 12 VDC. The circuit is 3 LEDs and 150 ohm resistor in series.3. The total string of 300 LEDs draws 1.7 amps of current at 12 VDC.4. The power supply must be DC - not AC. To operate on 12 VAC, a full wave diode bridge must be used.5. The LEDs can be operated at a lower (7.5 VDC min) or higher voltage (14.6 v) for dimmer or brighter light output.6. The LED strip can be operated at a higher voltage for a much brighter output, but it must be a very short duration (1 sec max)

Beautiful lights!
August 16, 2017
These are wonderful lights and have worked well for me for three years now. I use them as Xmas lights on my back deck which has no electrical outlet, so I've only used them for the month of December into January only. Normally I have them on each night for about four or five hours. I will say that at times the strands will become dimmer the longer they are on, and if there is a series of cloudy days in a row, they might only be on for an hour or so before shutting off. I think there has to be at least one or two days of sun to get the charge up to full power. I would recommend getting at least two strands, as one strand is not very long at all. The other downside is you can only shut these off by the switch button, which means going outside in the cold and manually doing it. But I've really enjoyed these lights, and if you put them in a location where they'll get sun and a decent charge, you'll be happy!
good service
September 3, 2016
If you have a problem with them, they have a warranty and they do honor it! I was impressed with the customer service. We are giving them another whirl. If the replacement works out, will buy them again. When they work, they are great. My only negative, can't change the batteries.
Nice outdoor night light
January 15, 2016
Believe it or not, I use this rope light to light my chicken coop. My girls need a little light to see by so they can get settled on their roosts; this gives them just enough without keeping them up at night. I've had it for several months and it is still working well. My only complaint is that on very cloudy days it simply can't soak up enough solar battery power to light that night. That may be to be expected for a solar battery...
best bet is t get multiple and try making it ...
September 8, 2015
The lights are bright in color (not soft while) but they do not give much light outdoors, best bet is t get multiple and try making it look like they are connected. Mine worked great for about two weeks and one began flashing and coming on only when it felt like it and the other was working perfectly then suddenly went out. The product shows a 1 Year Warranty which is great, but if you don't hook these up right away and have a problem right away it's like pulling teeth to get the sellers contact info from Amazon to enforce the Warranty. I STILL Haven't been able to successfully get the info from Amazon online, looks like I'll be wasting my lunch break on the phone with someone...This I got a bad lot of these because I've known them to last a long time, this were just disappointing though.(update) received my replacement lights, appreciate them taking care of the problem rather quickly.
Nice decorative light
March 1, 2015
Works good in our carport as a decorative light. Run time is about eight hours. we have two others like this and have found that it runs longer when a longer running battery is used.
Great buy but only 5 meters long
February 21, 2015
The actual rope light is really only 5 meters long (16ft), the cord from the battery pack to the rope accounts for the other 2 meters. The battery pack is rated for >500 cycles so probably won't last more than two years in daily use, still, works great as accent lighting and for the money is a great buy -

not a perfect white color, bit of puple hue
May 9, 2017
not a perfect white color, bit of puple hue. doesn't really match my other 5k or 6k white lights in the rest of the car. cut and solder was easy and so far the lights are shining bright. can't comment on the adhesive as I preemptively reinforced them with some krazy glue just to be safe (didn't want lights falling on my feet while driving).
Inspect what you get good before installing.
July 19, 2016
This is the first time I have got a role of leds and am not sure if all manufacturers are like this but this is what I ran into with this order.First thing I noticed was there was a crack in the clear covering all the way through to the led strip underneath about 6in from the start of the role. So for being waterproof this already failed.Second thing was at the very end of the strip it was not cut straight or smooth like it was torn off. It also did not have what I would consider to be a good seal at the end cause of this.Third was part of the copper strip they use to connect all the leds was folded out and protruding from in between the bottom 3m back and the clear waterproofing. Leaving this to be a failure point and safety hazard. Now I did not send these back as I was already in the middle of the project I ordered this for and the wife would have been upset and not having it done and leaving stuff all a mess. I was able to midagate the problems to some degree. I have to say though they are bright, but that one positive does not out weight all the problems. Maybe this was a mistake on my role. Maybe yours will be better. Will I order more? Not for this manufacturer.
Where's the plug?
January 11, 2016
Bought these to use outdoors on a project that should remain under cover for most of its life. They are acceptable, but not great. Whatever sealant used has a somewhat unpleasant odor. I am sure is will dissipate, but for may application it does not matter. The adhesive is very disappointing. I struggled to get the backing off without removing the adhesive. Fortunately this will not affect my application much either. Lights are bright white. What does affect my application is that no plug was included on the lead wires. The included instructions show that it plugs right in to a power supply. Now I get to fabricate a connection. You can't just cut it like it says in the description either. About every 30 LEDs is a soldered connection that cannot be joined without resoldering if you cut it (cannot use the plastic 8mm connectors). If you want to cut is yo will have to scrape off the sealant very carefully to use a 8mm flat connector.Overall, I can make it work for my application. Would have been nice to have a plug instead of tinned wires for power or this inconvenience explained in the description.
Not bright enough and very blue...
December 19, 2015
OK, the good thing: These lights are coated in a rubbery clear plastic making them supposedly weatherproof. Although not sure how you are supposed to weatherproof the power supply (not supplied) and the connection to it. I was using them indoors so who cares? Now the bad: The lights are not what I would call "pure white" rather they cast a blue light. Maybe that is what you call "cool light" which the box photo does say. It is very cool -- too cool to use as anything but accent lighting for hobbyists in my opinion and not bright enough to grow anything with. You will NOT like these for under the cabinet or for lighting figurines, etc. Too blue and too dim -- yes the light is also not bright. It is dim. The lights do not come with any 12v connector, just a couple of wires. There are no interconnects either. All in all, hobbyist lighting good for tricking out your computer maybe. Also, the tape is not 3M, it is something less sticky. I do not think they would stick in an inverted position (like under a shelf/cabinet) and stay for long. Gravity would bring them down since they are also heavier, yet thinner (less tape surface) than other non-rubberized tape lights. I ended up just taking them down and throwing them out. Not worth returning after installing and cutting them.In comparison, I purchased a LEDMO SMD5630 Warm white 16.4 Ft strip which is incredibly bright and has halogen colored light and came with the 12V connector attached (no power supply) and 3M backing tape -- for $2 more. They are perfect for my room lighting application. This cool white strip gets 3 stars for working but not really doing the job I intended them for. If you want bright warm lighting for a room, don't get these.
Good but not great due to missing features......
October 12, 2015
I really like these lights. They add a nice touch to our office lighting after dark (see attached photos). They are pretty easy to install. I would add the following features in order to make that a 5 Star+:1) It would be nice if it had a regular two prong outlet male plug instead of the female ac adapter pug requiring an additional male ac adapter plug be purchased in order for it to receive power. Even if it increased the item cost it would have been worth if for the convenience. I had to purchase the following in order to power the unit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006NTNGN0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to get it to work.2) It would have been nice if it had a regular two prong outlet female plug on the other end to allow two rolls of the bulbs to be easily connected together similar to Christmas lights, and therefore extending it's length. Even if it increased the item cost it would have been worth it for convenience. Because this feature was missing, I had to get an additional male ac adapter plug in order to power the second string of lights purchased in order to extend the length.I also purchased a light sensor outlet control to allow it to turn off and on automatically after dark: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Z3U7JS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Good for cheap aquarium lighting
April 15, 2015
Used these to make a custom light set up on a shrimp tank. They are bright.Down side is unlike other brands, this has just plain bare wire connections. So no adapters included. The adhesive did not stick well and actually came off the led strip on occasion.

Never again.

Worked for 2 months then died. FYI, the battery is not replaceable! I would not have bought it if I would have known. Update: They refunded my money without any hassle. So, I give the product one star, and their customer service 5 stars.
Good option for camping, just wish they stayed on
November 3, 2016
I wanted to love these. I really did. We bought them to take camping for a little lighting in front of the tent entrance, and they served their purpose for one night. The next night, they wouldn't stay on, they kept cutting off and turning back on. I believe there is a short or the product is defective. When they are on, they do their job. Just don't expect a lot of light off of these - they really are for accent, or great for camping... when they work.
Okay
February 5, 2016
The lights are pretty but not very bright. Having said that, I would give them 4 stars if they lasted all night. My best guess is that after a full day of sun they will last 7 or 8 hours.
Before you buy, know this:
August 19, 2015
bought this to add some light at night to a stairway. Whereas it does what I intended on a basic level, there are some things that potential buyers should know:1) the on/off switch is actually on the solar panel, so you have to put it within reach to turn it on and off.2) Although this has a light sensor so it knows when it is dark, this feature only works in "mode" setting, not "on" setting. Mode setting is to make lights flash. Therefore, the light sensor is only useful if you want the lights to flash. If there was an option to have lights turn on stead by themselves at nightfall, then I would give this 5 stars (not to mention buy a bunch more). But as is, can only use it for Christmas, so going to add it to my decorations box.
Pretty dim but survived a week of camping OK
August 12, 2015
They are NOT as bright as the photos. We bought 2 for our camper to hang on the awning and they were just average at best. We wanted to be able to use these to light up the outside but for these to "light up" anything, you have to be like a few inches away. For cheap waterproof lights with a solar charger, I guess we got what we paid for. And of course, I charged them ALL day and for the entire week the never changed brightness. I would not buy these again and will make sure the next ones we buy are as bright as the photos show.
Lights are NOT 23 ft. long.....Very disappointed
June 18, 2015
The lights work great, I was just very disappointed that they are not as long as stated. The actual part that has lights is approx. 13-12 ft long, and the rest is just the wire that goes to the solar charging unit.I needed a product that the actual lightening part was at least 18 ft. long. The product stated the lights are 23 ft., VERY misleading since that is the TOTAL length not the length of the actual lights.

All of a sudden, don't feel quite so bright in ordering these.
June 6, 2017
I started to install these yesterday and the first few that were opened went very well. The adhesive seemed to work very well. the next few that I opened, there was absolutely no adhesion whatsoever. then came to the lighting portion... Hindsight is 20-20... I should have tested these strings before installation... 5 of the units had half the string or more that had electrical issues. I thought that perhaps I would resolder the string at the connection spot junction that was bad with not luck.I ordered enough for my deck, dock and pontoon and because of the issues I have 8 strings that are faulty and can't be used. I am pretty disappointed with the quality control of these units.
Work, mostly.
April 29, 2016
Though bright enough for my use there is a dead patch near the end and the adhesive backing came right off staying attached to the paper cover. I have it taped up for the time being. If it wasn't for the great deal (like US$9) I would not buy. They are too cheap to bother returning.
Adhesive is ineffective, spicing is next to impossible.
February 29, 2016
The lights are very bluish, fine, I can deal with that, but the adhesive is horrible. Every surface we have stuck these lights to (gloss, cleaned of any grease surfaces) the lights fall off. Especially around corners, and the ceiling. I put these in my wife's dressing closet and she has waken up and found them sagging from the ceiling like Christmas lights on a tree. Splicing them is extremely difficult and time consuming. I would not recommend these to anyone. Until they make the adhesive work, make them less thick and easier to spice, they aren't worth even what seems a good price.
Dont work well wrapped around 1/2 pvc
February 8, 2016
Based on the reviews I figured this lights would be OK and decided to get a few of them, but unfortunately they are not as good as I expected them to be.I bought them for the only purpose to use them around a pole but as soon as I wrap them on the pole, some of the LEDs stop working. It creates a false contact and some LEDs dont light up, while other LEDs after the ones thst dont work light up. I was very careful removing the paper and also whileI was sticking them but they just dont work.Maybe the LEDs are not completely cured and the LEDs come loose from the circuit paper but either way bummed out.Any advise to stick the LEDs without braking the circuit would be appreciated
While the construction of the strip is good, I ran into some issues with the color
October 6, 2015
So I purchased these lights with the intention of using them in a Dart Board Cabinet that I was building. The lights are intended to illuminate the playing surface. While the construction of the strip is good, I ran into some issues with the color. The light that is produced shouldn't be called White. They are more a light blue. I was lucky that the felt for the backing was blue so there really wasn't anything very off looking. I am going to have to consider what I use the remaining strip on since the light color is so off.The water proof clear coating is difficult to remove from the solder points even with a knife. I eventually just burned it away with my soldering iron. The adhesive on the backside of the strips is somewhat weak. I had to re-glue them onto the dart board cabinet with Super Glue since they kept falling off or pulling away.Overall, not terrible, but not great. If the color was actually white I would have been more impressed. I don't think I will buy these again.
Not quite...
September 20, 2015
The adhesive is not great... I used it in the bed rails of my truck for lighting up the bed at night. After 3 days one side has fallen down and the other is not doing well (partially falling/drooping). I replaced the one side with 3m double sided tape and will replace the other side once it decides to give up. I cleaned both rails well prior to installing the light strips. The adhesive backing says MQ. I do not think it is actually 3M, but I could be wrong. Also, I ordered the "pure white" which I believe is supposed to be 6000k, which has a slight bluish color. The lights are much more blue than I expected and quite a bit more blue than I think they should be (see attached picture). If you want a white led strip that sticks well, I would suggest a different brand.Update:The other side has now fallen...I had to order additional 3M double sided tape to re-adhere these lights back up. Actually, I should probably just pull it down and find better lights that are actually white. So these $7 lights cost me $30. You know the old saying... Wouldn't recommend.

im sure most people would be happy with these rope lights
February 4, 2017
its a lot smaller around then the rope lights that you plug in,whitch is what i was going to use these with, further in the yard so it didnt match up and work out for what i wanted it for, but it has a lot of extra wire from the solar panel so it wont be so close to your lights and they come on and stay fairly bright for most of the night, im sure most people would be happy with these rope lights.
Good for 2-3 Months Only.
November 2, 2016
Purchased two 16 ft and two 33 ft strings. they work great the first 2-3 months. Now six months later, after a full day of Florida sunlight, three of them fade out after one hour and the other one only lasts two hours. I figured I would replace the battery (as I have done with other solar lights), to my surprise, when I opened up the control box, the battery was not replaceable. The control box does plug into the string, since I semi-permanently installed these, I'm going to have to buy additional strings just to get the box with a new battery.
Yep... Figures...

Revived and planted... One set has a bad solar cell, it will not charge the battery. Only getting .5 volt with it in direct sunlight. The second set was fed through a lattice. It didn't work at all, the power plug is separated from the wire. No continuity.
Disappointed
November 8, 2015
I've had these for a few weeks. The description on the box says they stay lit for up to 12 hours. The first night out, they seemed to stay lit for several hours, but starting the second night, they came on at dusk and only stayed on about 2 hours. The solar panel is facing the southern sky with a clear unobstructed placement…LOTS of sunshine usually, but we have had more than our share of gray days lately. I have two sets of another brand of solar lights, however, that stay lit all night (solar panels are facing south as well). This solar panel, however, is smaller, so I'm wondering if the battery is not charging completely. I have to say I'm disappointed, but I may try changing out the battery and see if that works.
Not working as well as described
August 18, 2015
I want to rate this higher I bought 1 and it worked it seemed shorter then listed and now I just read about the lead wire as part of the length A haAnyway I bought a 2nd one that day because it was so short it cane tight away however the 1st one no loner works 2 days .. Don't know what I should do next? Return 1 and exchange return both they are short I think I should wait a few more days to see if that one stays lit.Turning out to be a lot of trouble as I don't know how to return it to start with.
Failed in a few months
June 13, 2015
Update: I got 4 of these solar rope lights initially, and 2 stopped working within 2 months. These were the 2 that, because of trees, received less sunlight than the other 2 sets. This is how they failed: Within about 2 months, the 2 sets getting less sunlight would only stay lit for a couple of hours. Even after a very sunny day, they would not recover -- once they had a "bad day", they stayed bad. Eventually, they failed, totally. The symptoms looked like "battery memory" problems. I opened up one of the dead solar panels, and saw that they have a NIMH rechargeable battery that the solar panel charges. NIMH batteries are susceptible to "battery memory". Because the sunlight is not consistent, it appears that the battery "remembers" the low-charge condition, and eventually stops accepting a charge. The problem cannot be fixed, because the battery is soldered into the solar panel pack, and cannot be replaced. To work for an extended period of time, this type of device should either use a lithium-ion battery that does not suffer from battery memory, or it should make it easy to replace the battery if it starts to go bad.I am on the lookout for a properly designed LED Solar Rope Light set -- with replaceable battery or Lithium battery. Anyone know of any?I use these to light up a small bridge on our property. They worked great out of the box. In the summer (which is all of my experience with it to-date) in northern New Jersey, it stays on all night. I have yet to see how long it works in the fall and winter.

look great, but they don't last, especially if you move them.
March 11, 2017
after only a single year and one relocation of the LED strip, a few 3 LED groups are malfunctioning.this appears to be due to poor soldering/connections, as pushing down on one of the LEDs in the group makes all 3 turn on. I cannot think of a good way to re-solder these bad connections since all of the connections are sandwiched between the weatherstripping and the backing.I was quite happy with these LEDs in their first location. They produced ample light and, although they had a slight blue tint to them, they looked great. I'm sad that just after removing them from a single wall, they've been broken.
Not impressed
March 6, 2017
Spool inside the sealed package was destroyed and the led strip was smashed. When I tested the lights, about 18in of the spool did not work. Once I cut those off, the remaining lights worked. Also, the adhesive on the back on the lights is very weak. I ended up having to hot glue the strip to my project in order to get them to stay. I've used other brands of lights and never had this problem. I won't be using this brand again.
Do not use on wooden decks!!! Lights stopped working after a week.
February 11, 2017
Very disappointed in this product. Purchased these for my moms new deck for her Christmas surprise. Got them all put up and it looked great the first night. The second night one strand went out. By the end of the week they were all out and coming loose from the adhesive. Very embarrassing to give as a gift and it breaks within the first week. 😭😭
This band has some design problem.
May 1, 2016
There is a problem, you can cut the light in a particular location, there is two copper poles, and you use a clip to connect it to supply electricity, but the problem is right next to the two poles, is a resistor or some sort, you cannot close you clip to lock the strip!! What a bad design? Did the person design it also try to install it? In the product page, the forth picture is a close up picture, you can see + and - pole, then next to it is that black color thingy, prevent the clip from closing! I bought another brand which has no such problem, then try to buy more, and thinking they all the same... not really.
AHHHHH! So needed these to work!
March 17, 2016
This light strand only has two wires at the end... we ordered the first set and didn't receive a connector. The company did immediately send out another. But same thing. There is absolutely no way to use these lights as is. We also purchased (at Amazon's suggestion) an electric adapter. But it has a small circle/hole for the connection and there's no way to connect the two wires to it.
DONT BUY. JUNK!!!
November 10, 2015
THESE ARE JUNK!!!! I ordered 2 packages, opened the sealed package on the first one and hooked it to a 12v battery and they all worked. then installed them and was so proud then hooked up the battery again and only 4 leds worked. so I removed the other roll started to install it and after installing 2 feet of it I hooked up power and less than half worked. it looks like the solder joints that are approx. every 3 feet apart look like s***. when I wiggle some of the connections the leds flicker so here I sit with an incomplete project and not sure what to do. I don't want to order more leds cause these put a sour taste in my mouth. DONT BUY!!

NOT FOR OUTSIDE USE
November 8, 2016
I set the lights in an arch outside my door & they looked awesome Seeing the frowning lights in the distance made me smile when I came home late. It was a good week. And that's it. It took one week for rust to develop inside the tube & the lights to stop working. Terrible quality!
Item broke after only using it once. I don't ...
July 28, 2016
Item broke after only using it once. I don't know what broke but it will not light up. thumbs down.
Great at first, two months later not so much...
April 7, 2016
I was very happy with the 16.5 foot rope light for about two months. The lights are progressively dimmer as you reach the end of the rope now and there appears to be moisture (mold?) build up around the lights or they have burned the plastic rope. I am about to take it down as it no longer looks nice and I am concerned what is happening inside. This was my first rope light, not sure if I will buy another or not.
dim at best..
January 2, 2016
Cute idea, but did not ever work well...if its a cloudy day they never charged up enough to light up well.. dim at best... I purchased 4 then 10 more sets.. installed them to railings and within 3 weeks I had 4 dead strings.. out of 10... unacceptable.. credit to AMAZON I was issued full refund as soon as the prepaid shipping labels were scanned into the UPS system...http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/bpd/5375104669.html
WHY WOULD THEY DO SOMETHING SO DUMB?
August 29, 2015
Talk about stupid. This solar light charges in the sun with an inluded solar battery. But the battery is NOT replaceable. You have to throw the lights away. I can't believe they would even do that. Makes no sense. So unless you are looking for a "disposable" set of solar string lights, don't bother getting this.
Not what we hoped for.
May 14, 2015
bought two ropes, after two weeks, one of the ropes would only stay lit for about 45 minutes. Opened up the little black box to replace the battery and found that the battery was not replaceable. It was wired in place. I have a lot of solar powered lights and this is the only one unable to change out the battery.
