Five Star Reviews: | 55% Perfect for rot iron repair May 21, 2016 This worked exactly like it says. I used it for a rusted hole in a rot iron fence. It sands great then I painted it and you can't even tell there was a rust hole! ... the softness of the foam (does not dry firm like GreatStuff). February 19, 2016 Doesn't lift or risk cracking the thing you are spraying it behind thanks to the minimal expansion and the softness of the foam (does not dry firm like GreatStuff). Great minimally expanding foam sealant with non-flammable propellant March 7, 2015 The key advantage of this foam over other minimally expanding can foams is the non-flammable propellant. Since use of freon as a propellant was outlawed, all the other brands use propane or similar propellant and are extremely flammable. This one can be used indoors without taking strong precautions to avoid ignition. It works very well for filling gaps around pipes, insulating when installing doors and windows and the like. I wouldn't use it for covering large areas (like a rim joist) or filling things like floats, etc. I had no trouble filing a gap of several inches where a beam went through a wall, and smaller gaps are no issue at all. Like every other can foam it can be messy and sticks to everything, so wear disposable gloves and use eye protection. It does continue to ooze out of the tube a bit after you stop dispensing, but not as much as high-expansion foams.Although the description says it will spray in any orientation I didn't find that to be the case. the can needs to be upside down (nozzle on the bottom) for it to work (just like every other can foam). Excellent low expansion foam. February 2, 2015 Unlike some other reviewers, I had no issues with this product becoming 'crumbly' or soft after injecting it into some cracks. Used this to fill some gaps between wall and floor where new tiles didn't quite reach far enough, and it worked very well. I wanted low expansion so the foam would not expand out over the tile, and this product performed that task perfectly. Best for aplications where high expansion is not desired. September 27, 2013 This expands less and cures denser. It is very useful in areas where expansion of most foams would be a problem. The increased density also makes for a stronger fill. It is also the only one I have found that allows cutting off of the excess after partial or full curing. I know that I will have to do some trimming anyway and all of the other foams I have found say not to. I am using it to fill out the side panels on a motor home. The panels are made of a steel frame with insulation and plywood sandwiched between fiberglass outer sheets. The ply and insulation has deteriorated. This foam provides a denser fill that makes the panels solid again and can be trimmed where it leaks out. It is still necessary to brace the outer skin to prevent it from being pushed out during expansion but the expansion is less than the other kinds and more manageable. I find this more useful for structural use than just filling holes where air gets in around pipes.Robs opinion:For structural work it is the only one. If you just want to fill some holes where the air gets in get the cheap stuff. | 45% works great around pipes and sealed the tin roof and openings on storage building with greatt results September 25, 2017 Used for pest blocking, had not had any intrusions of insects or rodents following application of this product. Would estimate a low to medium expansion and foam density. Dries quickly to the touch and can be trimmed easily. So far so good. No squirrels September 20, 2017 I filled a hole that squirrels were coming in my attic. So far so good. No squirrels. |
Four Star Reviews: | 15% Eh. March 16, 2017 Works well enough, I wouldn't call it "minimal expansion" though...it expands up the same as any other brand I've used. Kinda regretting spending the extra money on this kind good stuff September 4, 2016 Worked as needed. Careful.....the foam expands more than you would expect for "minimal expansion" Four Stars March 31, 2015 worked great, didn't expand to crazy proportions like the yellow foam does. great for doors/windows Did as it was suppose to do. March 8, 2015 Did what it was suppose to do. Nothing special, i have no real complaints other than it didnt seem like the can lasted very long. It does what it says it does. December 11, 2013 It does what it says it does. This is the only brand where the applicator did not leak where it joined the can. It isn't a 360 degree applicator as advertised, however. I tried and it failed. | 22% seems to work September 12, 2017 I used this to fill up the gap around a pipe that was coming in under the kitchen sink were we would get a lot of mice. I haven't had any mice since. They haven't chewed through it so that's likely what is keeping them out. Great one-time use product July 23, 2017 Great product, fills in crevices very well, solidifies within hours and does what its supposed to do. Although 1 star off because it is a one-time use product. Should be applied by a handiman with long arms and sometimes requires using a ladder. October 26, 2015 This product is hard to apply because it requires a steady hand and the right angle which I am not able to do in tough spots to reach. Also, it does not remove easily from the skin. Rubber gloves should be worn when using the insulating foam. Dealing with rodents March 10, 2015 Definitely easier to use than steel wool or copper mesh for blocking small (less than 1 inch) mouse holes. That being said, DO NOT ASSUME blocking the holes will resolve an infestation, or you'll be reporting what a lot of people here are -- determined mice ate through it in no time. Here's what you do to put an end to the problem once and for all; (1) Don't clean up mouse droppings. These are "hotspots" and the mice will return to them if they're left untouched. (2) Get some poison blocks (I like "Havoc XT") and three inch wood screws (you might need some washers). (3) Put three Havoc XT cubes on a woodscrew and secure it in to the floor/wall (whatever) where the dropping are. (4) Replace the cubes once a week until the mice stop feeding; it may take up to a month. In bad spots, you might need to put 2x or 3x poison. (5) Search the area around your hotspots for entry points... plumbing pipes/drains are a major culprit, but I've seen bad/amateur electrical work on exterior walls that punched right in to the vent space. (6) Fill holes/gaps *generously* (push the applicator straw in to the hole, spray for 2-3s, then continue spraying while slowly withdrawing. The can is single use, so go ahead and use it all. You'll want to wear gloves and safety glasses. as the stuff is impossible to get off your skin. If the mice never stop feeding, you're likely killing the neighbor(s)' mice as well, and you'll have to look at more drastic barrier methods (rodent control wire mesh). If the "hotspots" are on an interior wall (usually the wet wall where the drain stack is) the mice are coming up from the basement (or other apartments). If the hotspots are along the exterior walls, you're more likely to have mice coming in from outside. |
Three Star Reviews: | 4% It's foam, and it's a sealant, but . . August 30, 2016 this expanded a great deal more than "minimal" would suggest. I ended up spending just as much time trimming as I would have with a $6 can of Great Stuff from Home Depot. Also, there was not much in the can. Ran out after 10 feet. | 12% It's ok, just not a bug detterant which is what the name implies. September 8, 2017 I was expecting this to have some kind of anti-bug additive. It's just expanding foam, same as you can get at the hardware store. Calling it pestblock seems deceiving. So, the foaming part works, it will fill cracks, crevices and holes. Just not really a bug deterrent. It is great stuff but good luck trying to use it a ... January 4, 2016 It is great stuff but good luck trying to use it a second time as the straw gets clogged. They explain a way to use it multiple times but it isn't realistic. It is a major area they need to improve on which would really make the product great. They probably won't as they get more money having people buy the product more often as they can only use it in one application. Good but has drawbacks December 15, 2015 Makes a great seal and really does expand quite a bit. The only drawback is the whole can MUST be used in one shot. I don't know why but if the can is stored for even a day (and even with a new nozzle) the foam will not release correctly. Stored inside at room temp. OK Stuff, Not "Great" May 27, 2015 This "Stuff" does the job but I would not call it "Great". The applicator is not perfect and it is very difficult to gauge when to let go of the trigger. I ended up with a mess of Stuff that needed a lot of trimming and clean-up when I was finished filling my void. Also, if you don't use the entire can, in my opinion, it is not worth the time to try to clean the applicator/tube for another use. The greatest thing about this Stuff is it's price when you can get it for under $7 bucks a can. Good product, flimsy straw. November 17, 2012 The product is easy enough to use- cleans up with acetone nail polish remover, dries firm, etc. But the applicator straw broke halfway through my first use with a brush of my hand. I'm not a large or very strong person. |
Two Star Reviews: | 13% Not low expansion foam September 17, 2017 Minimal expansion my a$$. Appears to expand about 5-8x, so it works just like any other canned urethane foam. Expanded and how has to be trimmed off. Costs considerably more than other available name brand foam. Eh. October 15, 2016 I can't tell a difference between this stuff and the "great stuff" brand open cell foam. This stuff still expands quite a bit, it seems more like 100% than the claimed 50%. For a closed cell foam, seems to be nothing but air on the inside. The outside of the dried foam looks solid, but if you cut into it, it's full of open areas. It worked where I used it, but I'm glad those areas aren't really important, because I don't trust this stuff. I used some outside, and put several coats of paint on it, so it should be okay. Thus product is ok. However, there is no ... August 29, 2016 Thus product is ok. However, there is no different noticeable difference between this and the $4.97 foam spray I get at Ace. Not worth the $11. Hard to use, hard to clean up from. Worst foam I ever used. September 24, 2014 When I attempted to assemble the delivery system, it would not work. I have a 180 IQ and could not get it to work for over an hour. I HATE IT! I definitely would not recommend!Once I did get the nozzle to work after an hour of struggle, the foam was incredibly sticky and only turpentine would get it off my hands and remove it from any tool used to smooth it flat.It is the WORST foam I ever used. | 6% This stuff is great. But the only really bad thing August 19, 2017 This stuff is great. But the only really bad thing. Is the hose doesn't work after the first use I'm upset because I use it one time now I can't use it again. No better than regular expanding foam May 26, 2016 Ineffective. Carpenter bees ate right through it in two spots to cut new holes right behind it. Didn't work for me. Mice chewed through it the ... September 1, 2015 Didn't work for me. Mice chewed through it the same night it was applied....I think they are mocking my efforts. Didn't work for me November 6, 2014 Used to seal a crack in my foundation where mice were nesting. Product sealed fine but mice just chewed it up. So much for a pest block. Ended up sealing the crack with cement and hardware cloth. |
One Star Reviews: | 13% Can become very dangerous if you use it and then ... April 28, 2017 Can become very dangerous if you use it and then stop and try to use again at a later date. Mine exploded from the front nozzle all over me and my counter. If I wasent wearing glassed I may have been blinded. Use with caution. Horrible Dangerous Stuff May 20, 2016 Horrible, Dangerous Stuff. Got some on my hands, and CANNOT get it off. Used Soap, Goo Gone, Bleach, and eventually SANDPAPER....still cannot get it off my skin. It's part of my hands now. Also cannot get it off of any surface it lands on that you don't want it on. I sprayed some into kitchen sink to prime the tube...took one HOUR to get it all off the sink surface. Also once used once, the goo solidifies in the dispensing straw, so don't know how it could ever be used again. NON RETURNABLE, so I'm just throwing it away. Beware. DO NOT BUY THIS STUFF!!! As I ... December 29, 2015 DO NOT BUY THIS STUFF!!! As I was spraying the foam into a crack along my door jamb, this foam was instantly spraying right back out of the crack!! And to boot, the foam got everywhere and cleanup took HOURS. very bad product. it did nothing it was supposed to July 22, 2014 DO NOT BUY THIS! very bad product. it did nothing it was supposed to do | 15% Does not work!! September 24, 2017 "0" STARS!! Completely waste of money! It does not work!! Pest eat right through it! I'm going to return it! Applicator nozzle snapped on first use September 17, 2017 The applicator snapped at the base the first time I used it. It is very light and flimsy like a soda straw. The material itself is somewhat difficult to work with overall, a great idea, but poor execution. Also this contains some toxic chemicals and the fine print recommends gloves, respirator, eye protection to protect from side effects including asthma and extreme skin irrational. This is fine but the average weekend diy-er needs to understand this must be handled with more care than most diy products. Not effective at all August 7, 2017 I bought this at Lowe's, but thought I should review it here so people will know how poorly it performs. I packed the hole tightly with steel wool and put a large quantity of this foam over the hole the mouse had made in my pantry . The next morning I opened the door and found chewed up foam all over the floor. See attached photo. It didn't deter the mouse at all. I'll try caulk next and if that doesn't work, I'll try hardware cloth. Field mice just chew right through the stuff. April 11, 2017 Tried this stuff in my back yard shed. The mice just chewed right through it. Glad I only purchased one of October 9, 2016 Didn't deter mice from chewing thru it. Glad I only purchased one of these Broken applicator straw made unusable. February 27, 2016 Straw for applying was broken on arrival. Used some, but very difficult to apply without straw. |
