Five Star Reviews: | 29% you'll be pretty close. December 8, 2015 It's honestly a 4.5, but given that's not an option, it's closer to a 5 than a 4. They are small, but if you order by your EU size, you'll be pretty close. Cheapest out there but work really great, have worn them once on rock and about ... May 21, 2015 Cheapest out there but work really great, have worn them once on rock and about 5-6 times at the gym, are in great condition as of now, also they look awesome! And amazon's 1day shipping is really amazing! Also you have to order one entire size more than your usual running shoes:-reebok size 8.5climbx size: 9.5 Work great, Excellent cost. Perfect for a first buy. April 1, 2015 I'm giving this a 3 for right now until I use this but I wanted to comment on the size because I was very unsure when I ordered these.I haven't been rock climbing in years but going this weekend, noPro video camera here, but I wear a size 8.5 normally and probably have about an inch to spare in my shoe. I ordered 3 sizes because I had no idea what to buy based on reviews and the 8.5 seems to be very snug fitting [which is what I think you want?] and the 8 was outright painful. I just looked and laughed at the 7.5 box. If these stretch at all they will still be snug but somewhat comfortable I assume.I will update with more later...Later:So I have climbed a few times with these now indoors and outdoors and have to say no complaints. The area around the big toe is smaller so there isn't a lot of room but they seems to be stretching and they aren't as painful now. That or I'm doing a good job at killing the nerves in my feet. Anywho, after using them a few times I feel at least for a first pair of climbing shoes these are great and you can't go wrong. A Great Pair of Shoes! February 20, 2015 These climbing shoes are fantastic and I love them! They are the first pair of climbing shoes I've gotten, and i couldn't be happier. I listened to the previous reviews and went a half size higher than my normal climbing shoe, which is a half size higher than my everyday shoe size. Runs Small January 11, 2015 Just note this is WOMENS sizing and runs small. I am usually a 9 and ordered an 8.5 thinking it was mens but had to return. The 9.5 fit perfectly. Shoes are great for a solid price. Excellent November 27, 2013 Excellent grip when on the walls, really hold me up better then the other shoes I've used and not bad for comfort even before breaking them in | 50% Great first shoe! May 21, 2017 I bought these as a first time climbing shoe for my 12yr old son. He wears a size 5.5 street shoe and I bought the size 6 to give him extra room to grow. So right now he wears them with socks and says they feel great, not too loose or tight. He climbs 5.9's in them at the gym only so far. I suspect these will work out until he's in a 6.5 street shoe. Very pleased with this purchase and a great price at ~$50. Pretty decent March 17, 2017 Given the reasonable price, I'm pretty happy. I'm not an every-day climber, but I've been several times since I got these and they show no wear. I'm saying they fit as expected, but I did expect them to be a little small as climbing shoes tend to be. They are not super comfortable, FYI. I've never worn a pair of climbing shoes that were. and I'm sure it's going to be great when I wear it for the first time at ... February 8, 2017 I went and listened to the fellow reviewers, and I purchased a size up above me. My street shoe size is 10.5, so I bought a 11.5, and it fits as a rock climbing shoe. The toes are snug, and the front toe is right up on the edge. I can't tell whether or not my Big toe is curling or not. But regardless, I don't experience any pain or discomfort with the shoe, and I'm sure it's going to be great when I wear it for the first time at the rock climbing gym. Nice and tight. July 15, 2016 Like all climbing shoes, a bit tight which is what I expected! I am normally size 13 men's shoe (US) so I got size 14 of this & it is great. Nice and tight. My toes are slightly scrunched. If you are buying climbing shoes for the first time, make sure to do rentals and talk to the pros first. I would have gotten the wrong size otherwise. Thumbs up! June 15, 2016 Great climbing shoes for indoor bouldering. The rubber is quality and rigid as it should be, my favorite part of this shoe is the heel, it is perfect for heel hooking. Climbing shoes are supposed to be snug and not have arch support, so keep that in mind when you buy. Great shoe! April 19, 2016 For a relatively new climber, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. They felt a little snug when I first put them on but after a day of indoor climbing, they were already loosened up to where they were comfortable. Now after a few weeks, they feel excellent. It is well worth spending a few extra dollars for the level of comfort. |
Four Star Reviews: | 36% returned because too small August 17, 2017 returned because they were too small-- bought locally instead Good value shoe July 26, 2016 These are really good gym shoes and decent on outside slab routes. All around good beginners shoe. Easy to clean, easy on and velcro closures are quick too. Rubber is holding up well after 9 months. Still has some edge left. I think it has been a really good value. I love the shoe but it was too small February 25, 2016 I love the shoe but it was too small. Usually I read the reviews and they say too small order a size up but that's usually with clothes and I need a size down anyway. I should of listened. Order a size up. All in all the shoes is still great. Great shoes for a beginner climber February 11, 2016 I am a beginner climber so these shoes work well for me. I have owned them for almost 4 months and go climbing twice a week and they function as expected. Great shoes for a beginner climber. Good for beginning climbers January 20, 2016 These shoes are exactly what we expected--they are a nice intro shoe for occasional climbers. These have only been used indoors, but have held up well over the last couple of months. We climb once or twice a week. Good shoe at a good price. just to help future buyers, I wear a US ... October 8, 2015 just to help future buyers, I wear a US M 10.5 in everyday's shoes and got these a 12.. fit well for bouldering | 32% Work fine in the climbing gym and soles are holding up June 9, 2017 They run somewhat small lengthwise--much shorter than my same sized Madrock Phoenix. Lots of space widthwise in the forefoot. Work fine in the climbing gym and soles are holding up well so like any shoe is a about trade offs and I ... May 11, 2017 I'm a size 9 US and a size 10 fits perfectly, may be a bit loose if you were more of a veteran rock climber but for comfort I'd say 1 size up is prefect. The heel part doesn't conform as well when you stretch your toes but that's probably due to stiffer heel cup on this design. This stiffness does help in heel hooks though, so like any shoe is a about trade offs and I think this is a reasonable trade. Great First Climbing Shoe February 4, 2017 I got these as my first non-rental climbing shoe, and they've done well! They did stretch out a bit, and I wish I had gotten it down a size (even though they would have been TIGHT early on). The toe isn't aggressive, but that's expected - my next pair will be something else, but I'm glad I got these for my first set. a great cheap rock climbing shoe for beginners December 19, 2016 As others have said, a great cheap rock climbing shoe for beginners. I'm pretty new to climbing and these are great. They do wear down fast on the sides though, because there's just a small plastic coating there, but underneath it's just normal thick shoe material. but I don't think they're as good as the rental Evolve I was using June 7, 2016 these shoes are ok. I got them when I started climbing, but I don't think they're as good as the rental Evolve I was using. they're too flexible to really get a good hold on smaller foothold, and don't point your toe much. US and EU sizes don't agree, otherwise good neutral shoe January 29, 2016 It's a good shoe, though it looks rather cheap. I wear a US 12 / EU 47 street shoe - this shoe is marked US 13 / EU 47 to have an all-day fit (which is a frustrating notation issue).Buy one full men's size up, expect a basic comfortable shoe with decent grip, and enjoy. |
Three Star Reviews: | 16% X-CLIMB Review May 31, 2016 GREAT BRAND of rock climbing shoesI bought these for my boyfriend for christmas .. they where just to small The quality is great however the sizing is WAY OFF January 6, 2016 I bought this for my son who loves to boulder. The quality is great however the sizing is WAY OFF! He usual wears a 7.5 in mens or a 9 in Womens so I bought a 9 based on reviews. They didn't come close to fitting. I returned them and bought a 10. STILL SMALL. I am sending them back for an 11!! I'm hoping those will fit. Should've ordered 2.5 sizes up November 3, 2015 My shoe size is between 8.5 and 9. I bought the 10.5 size in these shoes based on what size I wear at the climbing gym. I kinda wish I would have picked 11 now. Other than that I really like them. As everyone else has said, these run small. ... October 30, 2015 As everyone else has said, these run small. I am normally a 9, but had to keep sending them back to get the fit I need. So basically I went from a 9 to an 11. Still tight but hope they loosen into what I want. Sturdy shoe but runs way too small October 23, 2015 It looks good and is easy to slip into. The main problem is that it runs way too small for the described size(felt at least a full size smaller) and the soles seem a bit inflexible. | 8% These are probably good shoes for beginners with normal size feet February 2, 2016 These are probably good shoes for beginners with normal size feet. I however have a size 15 foot and the size 15 in these was still way too tight. I suggest the Scarpa Men's Helix in size 15 for anyone looking for a more true to size fit in a climbing shoe. These are good training shoes October 28, 2015 These are good training shoes. They are comfy and easy to take on/off. The rubber on the heal is weaksauce. The edge on the toe-box is good enough and has lasted several months so far. SHOE FITS SMALL! Good shoe, bad experience with company June 29, 2015 Firstly, let me talk about sizing: ORDER AT LEAST 1.5 SIZE BIGGER THAN YOUR NORMAL SHOE SIZE.Now, the shoe is perfect for a beginner. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. I like the way they look and feel (once you get the right size). When I ordered these I ordered my normal shoe size. I could barely put my foot into it. I ordered another pair half a size bigger and they were painfully tight. I then ordered another pair that was 1.5 sizes bigger than my normal shoe and they fit great. But as I looked closely at them and discovered they had scuff marks and a black imprint of a heel and five little black toes on the inside of the shoes. So obviously these had been used by someone. So I ordered the final pair, in that same size and I saw that they have not been used. But what irks me is that they got the colors on the Velcro straps wrong. They put the straps for the orange shoe on my yellow shoe. Well actually 1 out of the 4 is yellow so they got 25%. I am going to keep them because I don't feel like bothering to order a fifth pair. Make sure your shoes are not used when you get them and that the dad-gum straps match your shoe. There's better cheaper shoes available January 11, 2015 These shoes are alright, I guess, but I don't think the heel design is very good. It feels like there's too much rubber back there, and I don't feel like I'm making great contact with the rock. Also, the bottom and the rand aren't connected very well, they started de-laminating almost immediately. Maybe exaggerated due to my sloppy footwork, but regardless, it's worse than other climbing shoes I've used. I prefer Mad Rock Drifter shoes, which are similar but I think the heel is much better. (Although, your mileage may vary, someone else I know who had the Drifters absolutely hated the heel.)The price is pretty good, and I like that they don't use synthetic material so they don't get too smelly. These are nothing like the original Flash July 25, 2014 These are nothing like the original Flash. My brother calls these my "Fisher Price Shoes." They do seem a little cheap, but they're comfortable. I moved on from using Mad Rock after the Flash left. |
Two Star Reviews: | 7% It's simply worth it to spend a little more money and get a better shoe. November 16, 2015 I am not much a fan of ClimbX and my suspicions were reassured when I ordered these. It's simply worth it to spend a little more money and get a better shoe. These were extremely painful and not possible to wear more than a minute September 18, 2015 Very narrow especially in the front foot area including toes. The length is short. Normally I wear a 10 1/2 and bought these in an 11 as with most of my climbing shoes I go a little larger. These were extremely painful and not possible to wear more than a minute. I will go to a store and try on shoes to find a pair that work. Too small June 22, 2015 I am wearing size 9, ordered these in 10 but I cannot fit my foot in them. They are more like 7-8 so add 2-3 sizes when you order. so I didn't expect them to last long or be the best. That being said March 30, 2015 These shoes were fairly cheap, so I didn't expect them to last long or be the best. That being said, do NOT waste your money. The fit is fine, but the grip on these shoes is worthless. The first two times I wore them indoor top-rope climbing (at nice gyms) they kept slipping off the rocks – even the larger, textured rocks. Just spend your money elsewhere on a lace-up shoe, or put in a couple more dollars and get a better brand. Thanks to these shoes I'm out 50 bucks, not including what I'm going to have to spend for new shoes. Don't waste your money, don't waste your time, pretty much don't make the same mistake I did. | 6% Failures on multiple levels before they ever saw a wall... May 29, 2017 Well, yes, they fit small. However, that seems to be the rule. I wear a women's 7.5 in a KEEN shoe, 8 in a boot, and 38 in a pair of Five Fingers. So, after some absolute stupidity in sizing, styling, and pricing, I settled on these in a 39. A similar Mad Rock shoe in 41 was more comfortable in the toe box, but did not allow a great heel fit, and the leather upper at the toe box was just gape-y. (A "quasi-toe-do on my left foot didn't like the room in the 41 either!) Back to the 39's...The fit is great in the heel, toe curl is snug just to the point of being tolerable walking around the house. The leather upper has plenty of room for the toe curl. The first knuckles of the great toes were potential hot spots, but I never got that far, because the shoes were coming apart JUST WALKING AROUND THE HOUSE. I'm saying less than 30 minutes of non-climbing wear! The rubber and leather are separating at the top, the rubber is blistering in the heels, the rubber is de-colorizing (not that that is a HUGE deal), and the glue that is used to construct the hook-and-loop straps is failing so that the surfaces are sliding apart and sticky, slimy glue is oozing from between the layers of the strap.I had planned to tough out these shoes based on my beginner-level status and the price point of these shoes, but today's discovery of the glue sticking to my straps and fingers...deal breaker. As with most things, if you have crap gear, you'll have a crap experience, regardless of the activity. I would not recommend these shoes, even to a complete noob like myself. order >1 extra size up March 9, 2016 i know rock climbing shoes are supposed to be smaller than normal shoes, but ordered a full size up (9.5 normally) and couldn't get my foot inside. will try the 11s and report back.update1: tried the 11s...again, too small. in this case, my toes were pressed to the edge of tip and only comfortable when not standing. i'm not sure if this is how these types of shows should be worn, but i couldn't be satisfied with the fit. will try the 11.5s and report back.update2: tried the 11s...i feel like goldilox because they were too big! they felt comfortable at the toe, but the shoe now seems to be made for someone with fatter feet (i had to tighten the velco about 2cm beyond the edge just to make secure.at this point, i've given up on this brand. i have normal feet that fit well into all shoemakers. i couldn't find a fit here and i'm not sure why. I'm 9. 5 in my regular shoe, ordered ... January 17, 2016 I'm 9.5 in my regular shoe, ordered 9 and i can't wear them. 5 and they feel like they're size 7 June 28, 2015 I wear a 9.5 regular shoe. I wear a climbing shoe of size 8. I bought these in 8.5 and they feel like they're size 7. It's excruciating to wear. Blisters on my heels after two hours of wearing. Shoe fits extremely small. |
One Star Reviews: | 12% Bummed January 3, 2016 Order half size bigger than my street shoes 11M. Way to small. Returned them. Ordered next size up 12M. Still way too small. They don't go any bigger. Disappointed. Do not hold up. June 16, 2015 After owning these shoes for six months of light climbing (two months of which I was not doing any climbing) the rand started to delaminate and the rubber on the toes was splitting. Was unable to contact seller for a refund. These shoes are terrible! Gave them to my husband for Christmas & ... May 12, 2015 These shoes are terrible! Gave them to my husband for Christmas & now it is May & we need to replace them. They have split all around the toe. Insanely small, made for elfs and children. March 5, 2015 Insanely small. I had a pair of La Sportiva slippers that were size 9, from when I was a teenager, and they fit more comfortably than these in a size 11. I hate these shoes. The sizing is ridiculous. They look like they are well made but when I order a size 11 I expect something that will fit a person who wears a size 11 not something made for an alternate universe where all the shoe sizes are 3 sizes smaller than they are in this universe. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY February 19, 2015 Tiny shoes that are way too small for the size you ordered. I'm usually a 10 in climbing shoes and I ordered an 11, they were small enough to make my toes go numb an hour into bouldering. Would not order from this company again! Small fit May 11, 2014 These climbing shoes arrived as expected but were sized so very small, My husband Had to return them. Thank you | 4% Not very durable June 7, 2017 Wore a couple times in the gym and everything was fine. First time outside? The fabric on top tore. Too small - get a much bigger size than you think you need! February 14, 2016 Had to return because too small. |
