Better than expected!
June 29, 2017
This product worked better than I expected! The sound quality sounds great, like I plugged my acoustic right into my amp. I haven't run into any problems! I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone that wants to amplify their acoustic guitars, but doesn't want to dish out the money to pay for an electric-acoustic!
easy to install.
May 10, 2017
One minute to install, worked right out of the box.It let me play with a freind who only has an electic. We played together in 20 years.
It's ptobably not studio quality, but for playing for personal entertainment, it is perfect. I love it.
Good Budget Equipment for Budget Musician

Purchased this pickup just looking to get a wider variety of sounds out of my acoustic. Out of the box it seemed to be of pretty decent quality. more metal & weight to it than i had expected. I put mine in my Rouge RD-80 which is a super cheap starter acoustic ($80). Paired together for a pretty awesome setup. I mean I payed $9 for my pickup, some people mentioned they had to modify them to lay beneath their strings right, mine was pretty good right out the box. I could see how the tabs could scratch up your guitar, but with mine its really not much an issue. Sound quality is pretty good sounds mostly like an electric and is a little heavy on picking up the B and High E strings but with the right EQ settings and fine tuning I'm sure you could dial this thing in! Very little hum aswell. Overall I'm extremely happy i definitely got my $10 value out of the pickup and paired with a cheap guitar you cant beat the versatility for less than $100. If you have a nicer guitar your afraid to mark up I'd go with a nicer pickup I'm sure you'll gain some aound quality too but for anybody who is looking for cheap stuff that rocks, cant beat it.

I started playing the guitar about 2 years ago and need a good pickup for my acoustic guitar. I found this pickup to be super for the price. It installed super easily and worked fine. It produces a really nice sound that is very evenly balanced. I am using this with the sound system at my church and it sounds really good. The 10 foot cable works well. I have it plugged into a direct box and then into the sound system. For the money this is a no brainer and it actually sounds better than a much more expensive pickup a friend of mine bought. If you try it I know you will like it.
Fantastic bargain on a great pickup!

I've owned my acoustic for about 25 years. I have an electric too, and I bought this pickup so I could plug this into my amp. All I can say is it sounds fantastic, and I've fallen in love with my acoustic all over again.

February 3, 2015
found that for my Flamenco guitar (made by a Luthier from Sevilla, not cheap at all), I get VERY GOOD results when I put the mic clipped onto the soundhole, and SENSING THE INTERIOR of the instrument. I did not get this when I tried it clipped to the OUTSIDE as intended.... My thinking on this was that sound waves and vibration must initiate on the INSIDE of the sound board, and it seems to be corroborated...... I plug the mic jack into a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6, which is said to have good preamplifiers. Have not yet routed it to effects, but can do it easily if when I need to. This allows also for good "golpe" sound , and prevents any noises I would trigger with my hand if it were mounted in the conventional way. Palm-muting is picked up completely well. Of course it picks up sound from anywhere in the guitar, but they are picked up very properly. When I mounted it conventionally (mic sensing the outside of soundboard), the external sounds were not nice..... Mounting it as said does not hurt the instrument nor the device, and would suggest it as a possibility to others. With devices like this, acoustic guitar tracks can be recorded completely iisolated from other tracks, and free of any ambient noise.
Nice little pickup that works on a wide variety of instruments
October 28, 2014
I recently had a gig featuring a number of different instruments, and I wasn't sure how I was going to amplify everything. In addition to playing I was responsible for providing the PA. Based on the reviews and the price I figured I'd give this pickup a try; I'm very glad that I did.My first experiment was to clip the pickup to the soundboard of a hammered dulcimer, but the results were not good at all. I was starting to wonder if I'd just wasted a few bucks. But then I clipped it to the headstock of a fiddle, and we were all quite impressed. The fiddle player was excited at how easy it was to attach (and detach). The trick was to catch as much of the headstock as possible and to avoid the scrollwork. Later we needed to amplify mandolin, and the results were equally good. I never actually attached this pickup to a guitar, but I have no doubt that it would have been equally good. The pickup provided a mostly natural sound without any drastic EQ - that's more than I can say for the Dean Markley in-hole that the guitar player was using in his Martin. The next time I have a similar event I will probably pick up 2 or 3 more of these pickups. The one thing to keep in mind is that the cable is roughly 8' (maybe 10') long. That sounds like a lot until you consider how tall a person is and how wide a stage can be. A good extension cable is a worthwhile investment (I happened to have one in my gig bag, and it made things a lot easier).
A Great Value
October 12, 2014
Wow! I can't believe how effectively this unit does its job. It gives a crystal clear rendition. The one caveat is that the cable is not shielded and thus the whole/entire unit/product is responsive to vibration - this means you MUST place it in a location where you and/or your cloths will not rub against any portion. That being said, this pickup is amazing. I have two baritone ukuleles (one with a wood sound board with a rounded plastic body and one with a spruce body, two sopranos (one with a wood sound board with a rounded plastic body and the other entirely plastic), one non-electric concert and one tenor (made entirely of Acacia wood). Finally I have an electrified concert strung with a low "G", like the tenor. In another room (i.e., a "blind" test") I, my wife, and my daughter who lives in town (and her husband) can all clearly and easily tell which is being played when each one is played through the same pickup/amplifier combination. I have tried playing a simple McCartney tune (the opening of "Ram") that only uses the top two strings of a ukulele and even the subtle differences between the woods (of the same brand of instrument) can readily be heard by each of us. The pickup is THAT sensitive. Please note - the sound is definitively more "acoustic" as compared to the one electric ukulele. Thus it should be pointed out that the pickup does NOT make a normal/standard instrument suddenly sound like an "electric" instrument. The pickup can be placed on the headstock and do well, but it sounds best when attached to the body. With most of my ukuleles the sound holes are small and so the pickup ended up on the headstock, but one of my baritones has dual holes/ports, and both are out of the way of the strings - this is the example that allows me to hear that the pickup sounds most "full" when placed on the main sounding board of an instrument. I know that, typically, more expensive items equal better quality than less expensive. (Even my own stretch of ukuleles shows this.) However, it is hard to imagine a need to spend more money than the cost of this pickup for the amplification of most acoustic string instruments. Yes, it sounds great on a piano and a violin, too.
An astonishingly good pickup
August 3, 2013
I ordered a Cherub guitar and violin pickup recently - the reviews are good, and for about $7, why not give it a try? The guitar pickup arrived recently, and I am astonished by how good it is. I'm a professional musician and amateur luthier, and play a wide variety of stringed instruments. I have used many piezo pickups. I usually install K&K pickups in instruments where I want a dedicated piezo. But I can't afford to put a K&K in every instrument I play. This cherub pickup sounds pretty much the same as my K&Ks. The output is clean and hot. It seems to give a balanced sound no matter where you clip it on the instrument, even the headstock. The clip-on design is very well conceived and executed. About the only downside I can think of is that it's not as elegant looking as most higher-end pickups.Every string player who may want to plug in should at least have one of these as a backup.
A ukulele among electric guitars
July 20, 2013
My daughter often plays ukelele with her band. Imagine a ukulele competing with electric guitar and bass, drums and an electronic keyboard - pretty hard to belt out enough volume to keep up, even with a microphone and amp.Today she tried out this pickup - clipping it on to the ukulele headstock. It really did the trick! She's pleased, the teacher's pleased. And I'm very pleased because we found an effective solution without a lot of weight or bulk to carry around, and at a very modest price. (The pickup and cable fit in the palm of your hand, and weigh very little - maybe an ounce total. The cable has a standard 1/4" plug, so it plugs into an amp just as an electric guitar would.)Since the pickup clips on, it is extremely easy to attach, and it does not mar the instrument surface. It goes on and off in just a moment, so you can use the same pickup for several acoustic instruments. This pickup does not look like it was built to withstand tough treatment, but at this price I will be happy to pick up a spare to keep on hand in case the first one ever gets damaged.
Cherub Good
June 21, 2013
I really like the Cherub pickup. It is the easiest to install in my classical guitar of any pickup I've used. The sound quality is very good for a piezo pickup and better than at least one of the more complicated bar type in the sound hole type pickups I have. The pick wire out to the amp is skinny and only 8 feet long, but for 8 bucks it can't be beat.

Makes life easier!

These are super handy! Place a few picks in there, stick it on the back of your headstock (or where ever is best for you) and live worry free of having a pick on hand or when you drop a pic during a show! I think mine holds about 5 picks, I usually use thicker picks. It sticks just fine on the back of my head stock and I can easily grab a pick out of it at any time. I no longer worry about where I have placed my picks, or placing them in the strings for later use. I have this and I always know there is a pick near by.
Handy pick holders!
March 15, 2017
Good for your pants pocket or instrument case pocket too! Though it has a small square peel and stick on the back for attaching to your guitar if you prefer-as it seems they were designed for that. The springs sometimes get a little wonky, and sometimes picks can get stuck depending on their shape, but overall I like these a lot. They are cheap enough to replace if they get lost or fail. None of mine have done so as yet though!Better than trying to find picks in your pocket when you need them, and you can carry about 4 picks (depends on thickness and shape) or so in them to vary your choice of picks.
Stick n pick
January 4, 2017
Nifty little pick holder. It has an adhesive square on the back of it so you can stick it to things. I didn't feel like having it ride on my guitar, so I stuck it to the wall. If you use those chubby picks, it will only hold like one of them. So, fair warning. probably not good for that. I think I have about 5 or 6 1mm picks crammed in there.
Where have you been all my life!!! RECOMMENDED

Where have you been all my life!!!Attach it behind the head stock and you will never go hunting for a dropped pick on stage again. It happens to all performers at one time or another. This way you always have spares handy.RECOMMENDEDVOTE thumbs UP IF YOU FOUND THIS HELPFUL
... sort of music gear is limited but I really like this nifty little pick organizer
November 7, 2016
As a newbie to guitar I will admit my opinions on any sort of music gear is limited but I really like this nifty little pick organizer! It was a bit smaller than I expected but quite frankly that was a major plus for me. I don't know why I thought it would be like a hockey puck size considering it is holding picks. Maybe the up close pic..tures (pun horribly intended) but I just thought it seemed bigger. But luckily it is pretty small, holds a fair amount of picks, and even can be attached to the guitar for even easier access to pics. I didn't do so out of concern that the sticky strip may mess up the finish on the guitar. No idea if this is a valid concern but figured better safe than sorry. Again newb. The price is very reasonable and honestly it went a long way in terms of practicing. I like to be organized with my hobbies and having my picks at the ready helps me keep on track to find little pockets of time throughout the day to practice the guitar while limiting excuses and time for "finding a pic."
Excellent keeper of the picks...

I paid for this product in Feb 2016 (5 months ago) on a different Amazon account, but I am reviewing it here because this is my primary place for reviews.BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: An excellent way to keep your picks neat and on hand. Great quick gift for a guitarist. I would definitely buy again from Amazon. In fact, I just bought another one for my second guitar!WHAT IS THIS, AND WHY MIGHT I WANT IT?: A convenient holder for a half dozen or more pics. If you're playing and accidentally lose your pic, or if you're just looking for a place to store between practices, this is a handy little gadget.ASSEMBLY: the little he's a sticker on the back simply peels off, and you stick it where you want it. Make sure you have it aligned properly, because it’s fairly strong. Mine has stood up to quite a bit of abuse, and I’ve even knocked it directly a few times when move the guitar around… still there!APPEARANCE: Nice black that blends well enough with most guitars.FEATURES: One of the things I appreciate is the size; specifically, this one is it takes both wide and narrow pics.BUILD QUALITY:: I haven't noticed any tension loss in the spring with repeated use.PRICING & VALUE: Hey, for the price, you definitely can't go wrong. This would even make an excellent stocking stuffer for a guitar aficionado in your life.BOTTOM LINE: An excellent way to keep you picks neat and on hand. Great quick gift for a guitarist. I would definitely buy again from Amazon. In fact, I just bought another one for my second guitar!

Amazing for this price!
May 26, 2017
Great product for the price!
I have a baby Taylor and although it's a bit of a tight fit, it works fine and now I don't need to worry about getting a bigger guitar! I can use the small guitar as is for smaller rooms and with this mic/amp for larger rooms.
This picks up sound pretty well and can't beat this price!
Only caution is if it's not inserted straight it touches the strings, causing a muffled sound or unwanted high notes.
Not so often use gear.. not for professionals
October 18, 2016
i installed it wth the help of a youtube video.. guys for the price i like it.. although you wil hear some negative reviews abt it.. but its a chinese product wht no documentations watsoevr... so go for it if u want it for a home recording.. where you use it to record sometimes.. if ur an artist and do shows daily... .its a strict no no... you might have to adjust mic input gain or u will get some noise... make the gains low and pull up the volume on the amp.. i like the wire hangin from the strumming hand. .but its upto u wr u get the best results..wire is long enough and the quarter inch jack is a life saver who wnt it directly in their interface/mixer.... go for it if u use it not so often...
Fairly in-depth review with some other budget recommendations.
July 9, 2015
So far I've been pretty happy with this pickup. I needed a pickup to use with my acoustic instead of running out and buying an a/e guitar for gigging right away. So far I've used this since Febuary and have just recently started looking to upgrade (mainly the guitar). I've only noticed a few problems and will address them and their solutions first, then give the good news.

Cons:
First, although this is a pickup made to pickup steel strings using electromagnetic field properties, it does have some microphonic properties (picks up vibrations from the guitar and tapping on the guitar and pickup itself). This caused me problems when I initially installed the pickup in the center of the soundhole. If I brushed the pickup mounting tabs a terrible clicking would occur.
Solution; Move the pickup as high up toward the neck as possible. This got the pickup out of my strumming, and may have actually warmed the tone up a bit. I also drilled a hole in the side of the guitar near the bottom strap button, then cut and soldered the leads to an input jack running the cable internally. Any unwanted noise from bumping the pickup is avoided, and with a more perminant install also allows me to use a standard guitar cable to plug in like any electric or a/e. No couplers or extra connections to worry about.
The second and only other problem I've noticed is that the B string sounds noticeably louder than all other strings. This can be a problem when both picking and strumming as it wouldn't allow even volume across the guitar. Solution; Use a compressor. The Joyo Dyna Comp has worked well, but I now use the TC Helicon Play Acoustic with built-in compression to even out string volume, which is also nice when going from picking and strumming. This doesn't take much, but helps keep my volume levels more balanced, and still allows for good dynamics without squashing everything.

Pros:
This thing is very inexpensive. I hate using the word cheap, because it actually has a decent build quality and is holding up very well!
The sound I'm getting is very exceptable in comparison to some piezo equipped a/e guitars I've heard. It's by no means a mic'd fully articulate sound, but it does have some warmth from its slightly microphonic properties and has a decent a/e tone without a preamp or eq.
While it can be used with ok results plugged straight into a pa or amp, using this with a quality preamp or DI this where this thing can shine. Again, I use this with the TC Helicon Play Acoustic and when used with the Body Rez settings it can really sound quite amazing! I've been able to go into the advanced settings and with enough tweaking get very close to what my guitar sounds like acoustically which was very impressive! Some a/e tones I just can't stand! Obviously you're not going to get the best overtones, but with new strings and proper eq, a nice warm acoustic sound can be accomplished quite well!
This is probably why I haven't really been concerned in trying to find another acoustic electric guitar. So far I've been very happy and only recently am looking to upgrade. Mainly because I'm after a smaller body cutaway like an OM, rather than a full sized Dreadnought.

I know this was a long review, but I almost never review things, and didn't see anything that really addressed using this to get a solid gig worthy setup with a few more dollars and cents...
So in the end I'm going to give this thing a 4 star rating. If I didn't run the cable internally with a jack, and didn't have a nice preamp w/ DI I probably wouldn't use it for constant gigging. I can see where this would be nice to use at an open mic if you don't have a a/e guitar, or you're a sound guy that likes to have a few extra pieces of gear for those just incase situations without breaking the bank.

One last thing for those budget minded musicians trying to plug in and achieve a good tone. I highly suggest this pickup, a Joyo Dyna Comp, and the Behringer ADI21 into a PA with some reverb in that order. For like $60 you now have an a/e guitar, with balanced levels, and a DI with acoustic amp modeling and EQ. I took this exact setup to an open mic and had the sound guy say he really liked what he was hearing. He also heard the Taylor expression system, and a Gibson J45 with an LR Baggs M1A that night before we played. I took that as a huge compliment, and thanked him for helping to send it out front. This turned out to be a great inexpensive rig that I didn't worry about getting lost, stolen, or damaged (beer spills mainly) from a roudy stompin crowd.

Hope this helped as a review, and gave a little insight as to what can be done for tone on a budget.
Neewer Acoustic Guitar Pickup
March 13, 2015
Excellent pickup for the price. I put this on a left handed Rogue acoustic guitar I have, and was surprised at how well it sounded. Just so people know, acoustic guitars through regular electric guitar amps usually don't sound too good, and this is pickup no exception. They are actually meant to be played through a bass amp or a PA because they have a wider frequency range. I have neither, so I just played this through a regular guitar amp and it sounded like a bit too distorted for an acoustic guitar. That's the amps fault though, not the pickup. I took off one star because the volume and tone are unfortunately NOT adjustable. Also, the cable is permanently affixed to the pickup, and the cable is very low quality. It's lasted me about a month now though, so maybe not as bad as it looks. For the price, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to play their acoustic through an amp.
Worth the price!
October 1, 2014
Has a slight low hum when I plugged it into the PA. Not to noticeable. Would need to be EQed to get to sound decent. Would be nice if they had the cord coming out of the front side (neck side) instead of the other side. Cord can get in the way of strumming. I figured out to run the cord around the back of the pickup when I mount it to make the cord pop out of the hole on the neck side.
Installing it is easy. The cord is a little short and thin, half the size of a standard patch cord.
For the price and if you can EQ it. It’s worth it! I would use it at practic and open mic nights.

Was having trouble finding a good tone with this thing until I tried attaching it to the head stock. That helped tremendously, the sound is impressive for what you pay. The sound lacks a little top end but we'll worth the money. If you're considering it I'd say go for it. Although.... the cable is extremely noises. Like move it a centimeter and you get a huge pop bump or crackle in the mix. So definitely something to take into consideration if trying to do some serious recording
Satisfied with product; however, I was promised free shipping, but was slapped with an insufficient postage fee upon delivery.
February 21, 2015
I purchased this pickup from the seller, "Electronic-Expert," to use on my ukulele.I was very pleased with the performance of the pickup with my cheap First Act amplifier. It does not require a preamp, which was perfect for my situation. The sound is very clean.I chose the seller mentioned above because they offered free shipping. The package arrived a day before the expected delivery date, which was nice, but I then had to deal with the unpleasant surprise of $1.34 postage fee. I was told I would get free shipping, but that proved to be false, and I was left to foot the bill. $1.34 isn't a lot of money, but it's frustrating to have to pay for something you were told would be free.Because of this, I am removing one star. I would still highly recommend this pickup to anyone looking for a cheap way to amplify their instrument. It's good quality for the price.
... does not cost much and it does not look like much when you get it
November 7, 2014
Well it does not cost much and it does not look like much when you get it. But it works really well. I purchased this because my strobe tuner for some reason does not work well when going through its mic. So using it tune my acoustic was pretty much a waste of time. As a note once you tune with a strobe tuner it is disappointing to tune with other tuners. Used this and it worked with the tuner very well. I plugged it into my amp and the sound was pretty good. Now my amp is not built for acoustic so that is part of it and I doubt that this device would match the sound quality of the more professional quality acoustic pickups that are out there. Now for the negative. The cable is about as tiny a wire as you could buy. One good yank on it and I can see some damage being done. I also think that they would have been well served to either terminate it with a female end or included an adapter. It is just long enough that you can plug in and play but you better not move too much and you certainly are going to have trouble if you plan on routing it down your guitar through the strap.Final analysis is that this is probably worth getting if only because I think you can tune more easily using it than you can by balancing a typical tuner close enough to pick up the note you are playing. There are some attachable tuners that do the same thing as this would but they cannot be plugged into an amp. So if you think you would benefit by having one of these you probably will be right as long as your expectations are not too high. But I think that if you are thinking about buying this you are not playing a several thousand dollar Martin or Taylor so you probably already are playing an instrument that is not at the pinnacle of quality guitars so I think you are probably like me where you bought the best guitar that you could within the price range you could afford. If price was not an option I would be playing a 1960's Martin and probably not interested in hearing its wonderful tone amplified and certainly not through a pickup such as this. But at this price range I think it is better than you should expect so for me it is a purchase that I am glade that I made.
Not like a mic but works
October 11, 2014
** Update **After several attempts I have discovered how you clip not just where makes a difference. I can capture more bass than before. Increased 1 star to 4 stars. For the price does actuall work quite well. I will still probably mic for recording but now using this to pratice.** origional **It works. Could not find a spot on the guitar where it sounded full and rich like the guitar does. Was able to come close by pressing down on the device but kind of tinny otherwise. Not gointg to return it as it cost so little but will not use it. But it does work. If you don't care much about the low frequencies then you might want to give it a try. The investment is so small, why not. Oh yes, it arrived with insufficent postage. Cost like a buck 35 extra in postage. No biggie.
Works great for Rocksmith
April 5, 2014
A bit of history: I bought this pickup, a male-to-male plug adapter, and the PS3 version of Rocksmith for my stepson as one of his Christmas gifts. He had indicated interest in learning the guitar a few times, but his mother and I were not ready to pay for lessons since his interests never seem to pan out long enough to make it "worth while." He had an acoustic guitar already that she bought him which sat around as a dust magnet more than anything else. I figured this pickup and that game would be a good way to get him to use the guitar while helping to learn a bit. If it takes off, then who knows, maybe lessons and an electric guitar are in order. It has worked perfectly for that, with the exception of the initial "Make Some Noise" calibration sequence. The game wants you to strum the guitar a great deal to make, well, a lot of noise. We really had to pound on the guitar strings hard and long to get past that calibration sequence. I'm pretty sure the game's original intentions don't really want you to go as "extreme" into that sequence as we had to in order to pass it, so I'm fairly certain the pickup is the cause for that stressful moment.Once past the "Make Some Noise" sequence, the pickup worked perfectly for the tuning and has allowed my stepson, and even me, to enjoy actually playing Rocksmith with his acoustic guitar. The price is fantastic compared to other pickups out there and it works great. Amazon's 4-stars means "I like it," and I do. The pickup has proven to be a good buy.
not bad, but...
February 9, 2014
I like how easy it can be attached to the soundhole, or, for that matter, to the headstock, where you may get less feedback than with the soundhole. It works well but produces a somewhat metallic sound, not quite true to your guitar (you will note this in particular with a classical guitar). This can be balanced, to some degree with your amp's equalizer and/or the treble and bass settings. However, compared to the AXL Pickup (which I bought for comparison), the Cherub is suboptimal when it comes to the sound it produces. It is not bad, but it does not reach the quality of the AXL. Both are inexpensive enough that you may buy them together and see what you like best. The Cherub may actually sound better with an acoustic metal sting guitar.

I love these things, I'm always dropping picks. I had an older version, got this for a new guitar. But it doesn't seem to be made the same, maybe thinner plastic so the picks don't slide out like they used to. Still essential for me.
Good quality product.

Dunlop 5005R Pick Holder, Black, 3/Bag
February 6, 2017
I ordered this Dunlop 5005R Pick Holder, Black, 3/Bag and received it a couple of work days later, for a quick delivery service. It is a nice pick holder and for comparison, I ordered a set of 5 pick holders much cheaper from e-bay and these Dunlops are really a lot better. They both stick onto your place of placement and the Dunlop 5005R's stay after placement. The pick holders from ebay do not stay on very long before releasing and falling to the earth below. So, this is really a better all around pick place to place in the place you would like it to be! 4 Stars!
I like it.
April 9, 2016
It's plastic, and it holds plastic picks. I crammed about 15 in there. It has adhesive on the back. I stuck mine to my music stand and it stayed put until a drunk guy knocked the stand over at a show and sent it flying across the room. I like it...a nice way to keep them organized in my gear bag too.
Works as described, but the Color didn't match the one I orderd.
March 27, 2015
This works well to keep your picks where they need to be, easy access.I read most of the reviews and a lot of folks say they attach this to the Headstock. If you use a Capoand (or) a clip on Turner ( I "usually" keep both on the Headstock) then there is no room to attach there. When I ordered mine, the picture showed a brown (better looking) for the color of the Holder.I received a black one that absolutely looks hideous on the Guitar I was planning on attaching this to.If looks doesn't matter, so be it. But they do to me. They do work well and with Nylon .60mm Picks,Mine holds 7 picks and each one comes out like they are supposed to.I gave 4 Stars due to the Color of the Holder as was pictured (Brown) and the Black one I received.

Has problems
February 10, 2017
Its pretty hot on the high strings and I can't play above the fifth fret, as it interferes, it sits too high. But, I like it otherwise and will probably modify the securing points in order to lower it. I bought an EQ pedal to dampen the high "hotness", which helps.
2/16/17 I used a needle nosed pliers to re- bend the ears, so they are now at the same level as the top of the pickup, and now its great! The high strings sound great! Not too hot any more. I think Neewer should have some sort of adjustment for different height fretboards.
Sound-quality-wise (when the strings don't touch) is pretty good.
January 23, 2017
The clip design holds in place, but it sits up too close to the strings. Luckily, I don't play very much beyond the 9th fret or so on most things I do,, but anything played on lower frets makes the strings touch the pickup and muffle/distort. There's a thin pad meant to protect the outer finish near the opening that could possibly be removed to gain back some of the clearance, but my guess is that then the finish where that touches might get scratched. Sound-quality-wise (when the strings don't touch) is pretty good.
Strings don't line up with holes (but it still works ok) and had to bend brackets to prevent strings from hitting device.
January 6, 2017
Well, it works ok. The problem is that it sits way too high and the strings of my guitar hit against it when pressed. I had to bend the brackets on the device so its sits lower inside the hole. That worked, but now the device doesn't have a good grip on my guitar body and is loose. My guitar is a small body guitar. Not sure if that is why.

My guitar strings don't line up with the dots on the pickup. It doesn't seem to make much difference though. Like I said, it works. I'm using it to play Rocksmith. Please note, if you are purchasing this for Rocksmith, you will need to purchase a 1/4" stereo female to female connector as well.

Also, this doesn't come with installation instructions. Proper installation isn't super obvious either. Not cool.
It's O.K.
April 18, 2016
I use this on an Ibanez performance acoustic, and have found the results middling. It has trouble with staying snugly put once inside the guitar. And at times the sounds it produces are chirpy, perhaps because of the proximity of the strings when pushed down. I didn't pay too much for this, and perhaps I got my money's worth.
and was kind of hard to fit to my guitar (a Recording King Dirty Thirties single O)
March 12, 2015
Doesn't really have much output, and was kind of hard to fit to my guitar (a Recording King Dirty Thirties single O). Sits really far below the strings, and have tried to shim it up closer some, but not much change in output levels. String response is really uneven - the unwound strings are much louder. Adjustable poles would have been nice. Have a set of white bronze acoustic/electric strings on order, so will see if that helps some with these issues. Currently have to run through an impedance matching transformer AND a preamp to get it to levels loud enough to use with my amp. And it's still pretty quiet. Will update this review if the new strings change anything.

It does not sound that good but it works
June 27, 2016
This works. It does not sound that good but it works. I keep it in my gig bag. Its a backup to a backup. I don't hate it. It cost me $5 so there is that. I messed with the EQ and played a little lower than usual and my guitar sounded OK. Would I buy it again? "hmmmm" Probably not but if I was in a pinch "maybe." True story: It just so happens a few days ago my internal pickup (electric acoustic) went south and I had this in my bag and that's why I am now writing this review. For $5, my performance continued. "WooHoo!"
Great cheap pickup!
February 1, 2016
I wasn't sure what to expect from a pickup for $5.62. Hard to believe how well it works with my ukulele. I use a coupler with another cord to give myself lots of room to move around from the PA. I'm going to order another one for backup.
and the seller was great and sent out the correct item post haste
October 22, 2015
VERY touchy. You'll hear everything that so much as brushes up against the cable. I guess this is OK for what it is. I would never ever gig with one. I received the wrong item when I ordered it, and the seller was great and sent out the correct item post haste, so there's that.I'm going to clamp mine to a small square of plywood, so it amplifies when I tap my foot, like the old blues guys used to do (well, they didn't have these back then, but you get my drift). Might be fun for solo blues stuff.
it works great!
July 21, 2015
The clamping mechanism is very strange to use. You have to hold it just right with your fingertips and make sure you don't bump anything while clipping it into the F-hole. For some reason the cord is about a mile long. All I need is to connect from the F-hole to the tuner sitting on my knee - about 10 inches. Once it's connected, though, it works great!
4 stars for Uke, 2 stars for classical guitar
November 23, 2014
It doesn't even come close to "picking up" the sound for amplification compared to a true pickup installation, to say nothing of the quality of the sound.REVISEDI read that this works on the headstock of a ukulele and it actually does so I've upped my rating. On my ukes it gives acceptable pickup considering the cost of this thing. It picks up the high end pretty well and can add a fun element to your uke playing. It is still pretty much useless on my classical guitar and really not better on the acoustic. Even with it amped to the point of feedback I can barely hear anything added to the sound of the guitar. If you bought this for guitar and feel it's useless I've read in the reviews that you can break open the puck and attach the mike directly with tape or something to get decent sound.
Good with some faults
February 19, 2014
This contact pickup is great if you're trying to amplify your acoustic guitar without buying a fancy active pickup. That being said you'd be better off just buying something a little more dedicated than a contact transducer like this. While it accurately reproduces the tone of a guitar (or really anything that vibrates to produce resonance) HOWEVER every single time you move, the pickup will reproduce that as well. That means if you play in a way where any part of you is rubbing on the body of the guitar, it sounds like an orchestra of carpenters sanding wood. I'd recommend this as more of a tuner than a go-to for acoustic guitar amplification.

Good place to keep picks
September 11, 2017
Nice way to keep your picks together. I don't think I'll ever actually stick it to any guitar. I do have a zip-pocket on my guitar gig case which is a fine place to keep it. I don't like it as much as the Dunlop 5006SI which I also bought. This one works and is cheaper but not as nice looking.
It's okay...
April 5, 2017
Wish it held more picks. Not bad, but not amazing. Only holds a few picks. Would be 5 stars if the capacity were greater.
Good idea, but lots of wasted space.
February 25, 2016
The idea of this is good, but it fastens to your surface with a sticker. It might be handier if it were more easy to move around. It doesn't hold very many picks, either, because of the spring action taking up so much of the inner space. I put the picks in it and I just carry it around in my case. It's not much more convenient than the little ziploc baggie that I have gotten my picks shipped in. If it had a magnet on the bag, it might be a tad more useful for attaching to convenient metal surfaces. I don't have a standard "guitar place" where having it stuck to a surface or wall would be convenient for me. If you do, you might really love this. The idea is great, and it's well-made; just not as useful as I had hoped.
Good idea but not for every guitar
February 22, 2016
Bought two of these since they were so cheap- one as a gift which was very well received and one for myself. My guitar pick-guard on my Taylor cutaway is too small to add this to and I'm afraid to put it anywhere on the unpolished wood surface. It might be fine but I haven't risked using it. Check where your hand goes over the pick-guard before buying. It might get in your way.
Meehh
July 31, 2015
Thing is HUGE! I mean for holdin' a few picks? I dunno, I've never used one b4 so I have a limited frame of reference I guess.. Although I have seen a ton used. This one seems pretty atypical. I can't find a place to put this thing where its not in the way. It's not like I'm plucking a mandolin, it was for a full size Fender acoustic so the guitar is pretty typical in size and shape. I guess this si sposta be a "one size fits all" and that it'd probly do well. It occupies enough real estate to accommodate a dozen of those big a$$ triangle bass picks. It's full at a 10 .70mm regular picks, w/ a lot of room on the sides for those rounder more squat type picks. So if your wanting that, there ya go. Can I justify buying a bass on this? it's a thought....
It does what its supposed to do, hold picks, but its bigger than I thought it would be.
February 23, 2014
This product does what its supposed to do, hold pics.It comes with foam stick pad on the back to attach to your instrument or other location you choose so you have easy access to your plectrums. The thing I did not like is how big it actually is, specifically wide, I would like to see a more compact version. The picture is a little misleading, by looking at the image it looks like a pick will fit snugly, taking up the majority of space in the holder, but in fact the holder dwarfs the pick.I will submit some user photos to show what I am talking about.Fits 9 .60mm plectrums, 10 if you force them.Fits 7 .96mm pletrums, 8 if you force them.Fits 5 1.14mm plectrums, 6 if you force them

Not a good fit
April 12, 2017
Didn't fit my guitar. Seems too thick to sit behind the strings comfortably.
Inexpensive way to electrify an acoustic guitar
January 19, 2017
Don't really know if I can recommend this, will not buy this one again.
As an alternative, get the one that you can attach to a headstock, like Cherub WCP-60G Acoustic Guitar Pickup which I just got.
If you still want to get this one, I'd suggest you route the wires inside the guitar and drill a hole on the side of the guitar as a permanent solution. But then again, if you have to do that, you might as well invest on a nice piezo and preamp pickup as a permanent solution.

Pros:
1. Will fit into a travel guitar with a 3.5" sound hole.
2. Will fit into a standard dreadnought with a 4" sound hole.
3. Quick and easy way to connect acoustic guitar to your amp.
4. Inexpensive.

Cons:
1. Sensitive pickup, be careful not to hit the cable while playing because it can emit transient noise (loud spikes of squealing noise) to your amp.

2. Too thick. My guitars have low action. When I fret the strings, the strings will hit the pickup. I had to bend the tabs to avoid this problem. However, the metal tabs on the pickup are now sticking upwards, so I can jar the pickup out of place if I am not paying attention.

3. Will damage your guitar finish if you are not careful. The metal clamps have sharp edges. I inspected the pickup before installation. My solution was to wrap the edges with electrical tape before installation. If you don't, your sound hole edges will have etched scratches. So, not recommended for expensive guitars, You might want to invest on something better than this product.

4. Requires a lot of "EQ'ing" on my amp. Had to lower high and middle treble substantially to get the warm acoustic sound I am looking for.

January 9, 2017
The sound pickup that I received was not Neewer brand. When in stalled it hits the guitar strings. I tried adjusting it every way possible and still did not lay flat and it hit the last two guitar strings. It picked up the sound which was nice, but due to it hitting the strings it was not usable for me.
Difficult to install, but sounds good. May scratch guitar.
November 28, 2016
I'm not super happy with this product. It sounds fine once it's in, but it's rather difficult to get it installed in the guitar. The locking mechanisms are very tight and difficult to get locked in place. I wouldn't want to add and remove from a guitar on a regular basis. I have used this on 2 different guitars, and it scratched the finish on the front pretty good on one of them. On the same guitar, the high E string also hit the pickup, causing a buzzing/twanging sound. I tried to adjust it, but there really isn't much adjusting to it. The other guitar worked fine and didn't seem to scratch or hit strings. There has to be a better way of adding a temporary pickup than this device.

terrible sound quality
December 27, 2015
I thought I'd give this a try since it was so inexpensive, but I should have known better. The reviewers who give this four or five stars must have bad ears because this thing sounds terrible. The sound output is thin and tinny like an old AM radio. Spend a little more and get something you can actually use.
had to rig it ti get low end
February 24, 2015
Hers is why I've given this two stars. When I clip it to my guitar I notice it doesn't pick up low end very much. So after a long time messing with knobs on my amp I was still not able to get any lite end out of it. Even with the bass all the way up. Left with nothing else to do I touched the pick up and the bass kicked it...but then it was last as soon as i let go. Long story short,I ended up having to open the pick up, remove the Mic from the clip, and use duct tape to strap it to the body of my classical (around the bridge but not too close). For now, it'll be ok. I would still prefer less hi end. It's really tweaky and tinny sounding but it'll do for now. Other than that, not bad for the price
Surprisingly High Profile, Very Mid-Rangey
October 6, 2014
Meh.Just bare in mind that it's an $8 pickup. It's going to sound like an $8 pickup. Aggressively mid-rangey. Which I'd be willing to overlook if it fit better.Be aware that this pickup actually has a pretty tall profile. If the edge of your sound whole is anywhere near your highest string, you will have problems.I run a music school and wanted a cheap pickup to use on student guitars for recitals. We have a bunch of younger students, with 3/4 parlor guitars, and this pickup kept hitting their high E string. Same thing with Ukulele. So if you have a larger sound hole and like mids, go ahead and pick this guy up.
Okay pickup for the price
October 29, 2013
First we have to realize this is not a $200 pickup or even a $50 pickup. It's less than ten bucks. It has a specially-designed clamp that is good for attaching it to the sound hole of a guitar. As such it is not going to work for an instrument without a considerable-size sound hole. It also will tend to get in the way of those who play directly over the sound hole, as it is quite easy to hit and will pick up any contact noise. It is more sensitive than cheaper competitor devices. Unless you run it directly into the amp within a distance of 8 ft you are also going to need a 1/4" to 1/4" coupler (to allow it to connect to an extension guitar cord). You will need such extension as this tends to have significant feedback issues if the amp is too close or facing the guitar. It is a passive pickup, so you will need either an amp with a passive-specific input or a preamp mixer or other preamp device. If you don't have a preamp system, this will do you no good.So because of the limitations I rate it as above. For what it does though-- providing a passive pickup that can be quickly switched out between instruments, it does okay. I believe there are better pickup concepts out there for about the same amount of money, including adhesive-disk mikes. I would prefer to permanently mount a pickup of some kind and there are many low-cost pickups out there to choose from. But this is a slightly different concept (removable) that for the price is worth checking in to.
Really sensitive, but to the wrong things
July 30, 2013
If you bump or move the wire, it can be heard. The most sensitive part of the pickup is the part shown inside the hole on the pictures, but if you mount it like that on my guitar, you don't hear anything. If you mount it against the pick guard, you hear nothing. I tried moving it to the top of the sound hole, and it performed marginally better, but then you have this cord to deal with. I moved it under the strings like an electric guitar pickup and it's a little better, but not much. Tends to over-amplify unless your amp settings are perfect.
pick-up
July 2, 2013
Pick-up arrived on time and works. Clips on easy; but is way too sensitive. It not only picks up music from the soundhole, but picks up the sound of my hands touching the guitar anywhere. It basically turns the whole guitar into a microphone. Guitar sound is cheap and twangy through this device, not rich and full as unplugged.I purchased a Seymour Duncan sound hole pick-up that seems to give true warm sound, although I have to turn volume up much higher on the amp than I do with the Cherub. The Seymour Duncan does not pick up unwanted handling sounds from the guitar, only music.

August 8, 2016
This is a low price but an incredible purchase! I love having lots of back up picks because I loose them so often. This pick holder can hold ten or more depending on your picks and sticks very nicely and blends into wherever you decide to put it on your guitar. Esaly able to self mount this on your own guitar.

March 5, 2016
I have super thin picks and could only fit four of them in here, and only two of my grip tips. Waste of money. I need different thicknesses of picks for different playing styles and this just didn't give me what I needed it for. The picks are also really difficult to get out except for the one on top, and that's only if you fill it completely. The last one or two in were almost impossible to slide out, and the spring inside is very flimsy and doesn't offer any give.

July 21, 2015
The size of the holder is probably better suited to those old bass style picks... Good idea, but the design isn't great - and if you overfill it it is annoying, but even with just a few in it, sometimes it isn't easy to get them out. So you end up putting picks in there poking out a little. Not sure if it is better than the Dokken-style blue-tac solution, even if you want something more hip and less hair.

I just returned this to Amazon.
May 4, 2017
I just returned this to Amazon. The problem with this pickup is the way it is designed: it sits too high above my guitar's sound hole and presses up against the strings, making it absolutely unusable. (I have a Yamaha FG-400 folk guitar.) I'm going to try a stick-on piezo pickup.
Not worth the price, as cheap as it is.
March 6, 2017
It sound Ok. It seems pretty fragile. The cord is is poorly attached at the pick-up end, with bare wires hanging out of the housing, and can come loose or even break easily. The silver "magnet poles" are actually a piece of silver cardboard! I know it's cheap, but it won't last long. UPDATE- worse than I thought. I had to downgrade from 2 to 1 star. Plugged it in about half a dozen times, and the input came apart. Spend a few more dollars to get a pickup that lasts longer than a few uses, really a piece of junk.
POOR DESIGN
November 23, 2016
Poor design AND UNUSABLE. After installation the first string hits the pickup when fretted above the 4th fret. This occurred on two expensive guitars where action was not the issue. Sound quality was fine for kids guitar, but design flaws forced return. Sadly I contacted Neewer by email with questions (open 24/7) NO REPLY FROM THE COMPANY AFTER 4 DAYS. Judge for yourself. I did not expect a great product for the money, but I did expect it to work properly. Disappointed.
Absolute garbage.
July 8, 2016
The pole pieces don't fit a standard folk guitar. They seemed to be designed for a classical guitar, which makes no sense because those use non-magnetic strings. Absolute garbage.
