For the price ...EXCELLENT !! I had to send back an electric mandolin like three days before a gig !!! Was left hanging until I remembered this little pick up and threw it on my acoustic mandolin !!!! It is pretty sensitive to PA magnets ...so have your volume control close to kill feedback ! But this sounded great and bailed me out of a very tight spot !!!! And was Crazy cheap so I'm going to buy like 5 of them !!
This was perfect, not only does it sound great
January 8, 2016
This was perfect, not only does it sound great, it helped fix a WOOF that I had on my F#. The sticky is really good so be sure to get the right placement before adhering it to the instrument. I have it in a sweet spot about 2 inches from the bridge and just below the horizontal bridge line.
Great pickup, you need to understand how it works
September 17, 2015
This piezo pickup is great! You have to understand how they work in order to get the best sound. I used some masking tape to find the best spot for the pickup. For my mandolin, it was right behind the bridge, in set in the middle of the strings. YOU HAVE TO SECURE THE WIRE! The wire is microphonic as well and will make tons of noise when moved or touched. Simply secure it down with scotch tape. I stretched mine tight, wrap the wire to the back of the mandolin and taped it down in a few spots I knew my arm wouldn't touch. Presto chango and there is no more "feedback" noise or crackling or popping. Secondly, while the pickup sounds pretty good without a preamp, I would highly recommend one. The sound is kinda flat without it. I bought the BEHRINGER V-TONE ACOUSTIC DRIVER. Its like $30 and works great! With these to components, my mandolin sounds great through any amp.
An economic solution for a classic guitar
August 13, 2015
I bought this to use on my classic guitar. I have a amateur recording project underway, and I wanted to add a track for the guitar. As another reviewer mentioned, it picks up all noise associated with the instrument just as any microphone would. This is different from an magnetic coil pickup standard on electric guitars which amplify only the vibrations from the metal strings. For the price, it is a good tool for my task.
My husband's 2nd love
June 8, 2013
My husband has been making cigar box guitars. We happened upon this product when he was ordering parts. When the item arrived the packaging was a little cheap looking so we made a few jokes about it before he tried it out. HE LOVES IT and we just ordered more. He was so impressed with the sound and ease of use. This product is highly recommended. Just purchased more this week and he is anxiously awaiting their arrival!

February 3, 2015
found that for my Flamenco guitar (made by a Luthier from Sevilla, not cheap at all), I get VERY GOOD results when I put the mic clipped onto the soundhole, and SENSING THE INTERIOR of the instrument. I did not get this when I tried it clipped to the OUTSIDE as intended.... My thinking on this was that sound waves and vibration must initiate on the INSIDE of the sound board, and it seems to be corroborated...... I plug the mic jack into a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6, which is said to have good preamplifiers. Have not yet routed it to effects, but can do it easily if when I need to. This allows also for good "golpe" sound , and prevents any noises I would trigger with my hand if it were mounted in the conventional way. Palm-muting is picked up completely well. Of course it picks up sound from anywhere in the guitar, but they are picked up very properly. When I mounted it conventionally (mic sensing the outside of soundboard), the external sounds were not nice..... Mounting it as said does not hurt the instrument nor the device, and would suggest it as a possibility to others. With devices like this, acoustic guitar tracks can be recorded completely iisolated from other tracks, and free of any ambient noise.
Nice little pickup that works on a wide variety of instruments
October 28, 2014
I recently had a gig featuring a number of different instruments, and I wasn't sure how I was going to amplify everything. In addition to playing I was responsible for providing the PA. Based on the reviews and the price I figured I'd give this pickup a try; I'm very glad that I did.My first experiment was to clip the pickup to the soundboard of a hammered dulcimer, but the results were not good at all. I was starting to wonder if I'd just wasted a few bucks. But then I clipped it to the headstock of a fiddle, and we were all quite impressed. The fiddle player was excited at how easy it was to attach (and detach). The trick was to catch as much of the headstock as possible and to avoid the scrollwork. Later we needed to amplify mandolin, and the results were equally good. I never actually attached this pickup to a guitar, but I have no doubt that it would have been equally good. The pickup provided a mostly natural sound without any drastic EQ - that's more than I can say for the Dean Markley in-hole that the guitar player was using in his Martin. The next time I have a similar event I will probably pick up 2 or 3 more of these pickups. The one thing to keep in mind is that the cable is roughly 8' (maybe 10') long. That sounds like a lot until you consider how tall a person is and how wide a stage can be. A good extension cable is a worthwhile investment (I happened to have one in my gig bag, and it made things a lot easier).
A Great Value
October 12, 2014
Wow! I can't believe how effectively this unit does its job. It gives a crystal clear rendition. The one caveat is that the cable is not shielded and thus the whole/entire unit/product is responsive to vibration - this means you MUST place it in a location where you and/or your cloths will not rub against any portion. That being said, this pickup is amazing. I have two baritone ukuleles (one with a wood sound board with a rounded plastic body and one with a spruce body, two sopranos (one with a wood sound board with a rounded plastic body and the other entirely plastic), one non-electric concert and one tenor (made entirely of Acacia wood). Finally I have an electrified concert strung with a low "G", like the tenor. In another room (i.e., a "blind" test") I, my wife, and my daughter who lives in town (and her husband) can all clearly and easily tell which is being played when each one is played through the same pickup/amplifier combination. I have tried playing a simple McCartney tune (the opening of "Ram") that only uses the top two strings of a ukulele and even the subtle differences between the woods (of the same brand of instrument) can readily be heard by each of us. The pickup is THAT sensitive. Please note - the sound is definitively more "acoustic" as compared to the one electric ukulele. Thus it should be pointed out that the pickup does NOT make a normal/standard instrument suddenly sound like an "electric" instrument. The pickup can be placed on the headstock and do well, but it sounds best when attached to the body. With most of my ukuleles the sound holes are small and so the pickup ended up on the headstock, but one of my baritones has dual holes/ports, and both are out of the way of the strings - this is the example that allows me to hear that the pickup sounds most "full" when placed on the main sounding board of an instrument. I know that, typically, more expensive items equal better quality than less expensive. (Even my own stretch of ukuleles shows this.) However, it is hard to imagine a need to spend more money than the cost of this pickup for the amplification of most acoustic string instruments. Yes, it sounds great on a piano and a violin, too.
An astonishingly good pickup
August 3, 2013
I ordered a Cherub guitar and violin pickup recently - the reviews are good, and for about $7, why not give it a try? The guitar pickup arrived recently, and I am astonished by how good it is. I'm a professional musician and amateur luthier, and play a wide variety of stringed instruments. I have used many piezo pickups. I usually install K&K pickups in instruments where I want a dedicated piezo. But I can't afford to put a K&K in every instrument I play. This cherub pickup sounds pretty much the same as my K&Ks. The output is clean and hot. It seems to give a balanced sound no matter where you clip it on the instrument, even the headstock. The clip-on design is very well conceived and executed. About the only downside I can think of is that it's not as elegant looking as most higher-end pickups.Every string player who may want to plug in should at least have one of these as a backup.
A ukulele among electric guitars
July 20, 2013
My daughter often plays ukelele with her band. Imagine a ukulele competing with electric guitar and bass, drums and an electronic keyboard - pretty hard to belt out enough volume to keep up, even with a microphone and amp.Today she tried out this pickup - clipping it on to the ukulele headstock. It really did the trick! She's pleased, the teacher's pleased. And I'm very pleased because we found an effective solution without a lot of weight or bulk to carry around, and at a very modest price. (The pickup and cable fit in the palm of your hand, and weigh very little - maybe an ounce total. The cable has a standard 1/4" plug, so it plugs into an amp just as an electric guitar would.)Since the pickup clips on, it is extremely easy to attach, and it does not mar the instrument surface. It goes on and off in just a moment, so you can use the same pickup for several acoustic instruments. This pickup does not look like it was built to withstand tough treatment, but at this price I will be happy to pick up a spare to keep on hand in case the first one ever gets damaged.
Cherub Good
June 21, 2013
I really like the Cherub pickup. It is the easiest to install in my classical guitar of any pickup I've used. The sound quality is very good for a piezo pickup and better than at least one of the more complicated bar type in the sound hole type pickups I have. The pick wire out to the amp is skinny and only 8 feet long, but for 8 bucks it can't be beat.

Best deal for the money~
October 16, 2017
I was a little dubious; I mean, for this price, would I really get the quality I needed? The answer is yes! Although the box itself is high-impact plastic, the electronics I would put up against units that are literally 10X this price! I've been very pleased with this unit so far, and use it every time I plug in my acoustic!

'Delicious!' Yes, that's right. Beautiful Warm Tones.
February 20, 2017
This is an OUTSTANDING pre-amp! I had to replace the electronics in my 1979 Ovation Adamas. Wow! What awesome sound! It makes my guitar sound 'delicious' to me. Yes, I savor the sound with this pre-amp! It worked flawlessly out of the box. This was a Great choice for me. I'm a giging musician and in a variety of venues. This pre-amp has yet to let me down.
Behringer acoustic preamp
July 22, 2016
Considering the low price, this preamp does a fine job of boosting and shaping the signal from an unpowered acoustic pickup. It remains to be seen how long it lasts with regular use, but at this price, you could just keep a spare in your gig bag.
Works well for me
June 29, 2016
This really surpassed my expectations. For $30, what more do you want? I got this for a children's piano that I put a pickup on. I play it live on 1 song per night. But I wasn't sending enough signal to the house. This thing allowed me to get enough signal out front while taking out some lows too. Would recommend for something you gig often. Works great for me. Quiet too.
Great unit
October 31, 2011
I now have 2 of these units and have happily used them with a variety of musical instruments, from guitars to drum machine to autoharp (with magnetic pickup). It is particularly good with the autoharp where its warmth an bass enhancement give the instrument a powerful organ-like vibe.I don't think there is anything out there that remotely comes close at this price. Compare it to the K&K Pure Preamp for twice the price with half the features and which looks like somebody just knocked it together in their basement. The Behringer on the other hand looks great and is loaded with features. The thing is both good looking and functional. It is one of Behringer's most impressive products and dirt cheap too.

Surprisingly good for the price. It's not the best pickup you'll ever hear but if you're low on cash and in a pinch, I'd recommend it. I use it on my mandolin, nothing professional though. The adhesive isn't great, but I only use it for recording.

Great Low-buck Solution for Amplification
June 26, 2016
I use these pickups to amplify dulcimers and psalteries. They are easy to use and the glue on the piezo is tenacious. They do a good job of picking up high notes but only after using a preamp did I get midrange and lower notes. Certainly they are not a solution for performances, but they work well for noodling around.
Great value and good sound.
May 26, 2016
My order arrived in a timely manor and the pickup worked as expected. Great value pickup! Obviously you have be cautious of the cord placement for it is not heavy duty. My opinion is that it should come with a color option, the red really is kind of a loud color, especially when the best place to put it is on the face of the instrument near the bridge. I tried it through my system and worked and sounded great, hopefully it will stand the test of time!
A Great Pickup Line
December 7, 2015
I had experimented with a few different piezo pickups for use on a mandolin. I am very pleased with the results of this particular make and model which I bought almost as an afterthought when putting an order together. For the price it is exceptional! I liked it so much I bought another a few months later.

Better than bad, it's good!
January 25, 2017
I stuck this baby to my banjitar and plugged it in, played three chords on it and got offered a spot in Mumford and Sons. This bad boy sounds like a throng of angels singing directly in your ears. It works like a charm and I will be ordering more to mix my old acoustics. The only issue I found was the Velcro was hard to adjust to keep the cable attached to the banjo. Get this thing and enjoy the luscious sound that you have always been missing.
Very easy to use.
October 11, 2016
These are pretty cool. The construction is pretty descent for the price. I did have a problem with the cover of the pickup falling off. I would recommend finding the perfect spot and than attaching the pickup because the adhesive tape used to stick this on is very, very strong. It is pretty easy to use as you stick it on and plug it in. The Velcro end that holds the female adapter is kind of hard to get tight but it works. This is also pretty cool for amplifying anything you want and making it into an in instrument. It is fun to experiment with.

it works literally as a microphone for the guitar, i placed it right in the middle of the hole in my guitar on the back wood. It picks up the sound perfectly and clear . Its a very cheap and reliable option for anyone trying to amplify an acoustic guitar or such.

Comparable sound quality and higher volume than a similar, and several times more expensive, product from a big-name maker. Comes with a binder clip, but no instructions, so I can only guess why. :)

September 12, 2017
Was having trouble finding a good tone with this thing until I tried attaching it to the head stock. That helped tremendously, the sound is impressive for what you pay. The sound lacks a little top end but we'll worth the money. If you're considering it I'd say go for it. Although.... the cable is extremely noises. Like move it a centimeter and you get a huge pop bump or crackle in the mix. So definitely something to take into consideration if trying to do some serious recording
Satisfied with product; however, I was promised free shipping, but was slapped with an insufficient postage fee upon delivery.
February 21, 2015
I purchased this pickup from the seller, "Electronic-Expert," to use on my ukulele.I was very pleased with the performance of the pickup with my cheap First Act amplifier. It does not require a preamp, which was perfect for my situation. The sound is very clean.I chose the seller mentioned above because they offered free shipping. The package arrived a day before the expected delivery date, which was nice, but I then had to deal with the unpleasant surprise of $1.34 postage fee. I was told I would get free shipping, but that proved to be false, and I was left to foot the bill. $1.34 isn't a lot of money, but it's frustrating to have to pay for something you were told would be free.Because of this, I am removing one star. I would still highly recommend this pickup to anyone looking for a cheap way to amplify their instrument. It's good quality for the price.
... does not cost much and it does not look like much when you get it
November 7, 2014
Well it does not cost much and it does not look like much when you get it. But it works really well. I purchased this because my strobe tuner for some reason does not work well when going through its mic. So using it tune my acoustic was pretty much a waste of time. As a note once you tune with a strobe tuner it is disappointing to tune with other tuners. Used this and it worked with the tuner very well. I plugged it into my amp and the sound was pretty good. Now my amp is not built for acoustic so that is part of it and I doubt that this device would match the sound quality of the more professional quality acoustic pickups that are out there. Now for the negative. The cable is about as tiny a wire as you could buy. One good yank on it and I can see some damage being done. I also think that they would have been well served to either terminate it with a female end or included an adapter. It is just long enough that you can plug in and play but you better not move too much and you certainly are going to have trouble if you plan on routing it down your guitar through the strap.Final analysis is that this is probably worth getting if only because I think you can tune more easily using it than you can by balancing a typical tuner close enough to pick up the note you are playing. There are some attachable tuners that do the same thing as this would but they cannot be plugged into an amp. So if you think you would benefit by having one of these you probably will be right as long as your expectations are not too high. But I think that if you are thinking about buying this you are not playing a several thousand dollar Martin or Taylor so you probably already are playing an instrument that is not at the pinnacle of quality guitars so I think you are probably like me where you bought the best guitar that you could within the price range you could afford. If price was not an option I would be playing a 1960's Martin and probably not interested in hearing its wonderful tone amplified and certainly not through a pickup such as this. But at this price range I think it is better than you should expect so for me it is a purchase that I am glade that I made.
Not like a mic but works
October 11, 2014
** Update **After several attempts I have discovered how you clip not just where makes a difference. I can capture more bass than before. Increased 1 star to 4 stars. For the price does actuall work quite well. I will still probably mic for recording but now using this to pratice.** origional **It works. Could not find a spot on the guitar where it sounded full and rich like the guitar does. Was able to come close by pressing down on the device but kind of tinny otherwise. Not gointg to return it as it cost so little but will not use it. But it does work. If you don't care much about the low frequencies then you might want to give it a try. The investment is so small, why not. Oh yes, it arrived with insufficent postage. Cost like a buck 35 extra in postage. No biggie.
Works great for Rocksmith
April 5, 2014
A bit of history: I bought this pickup, a male-to-male plug adapter, and the PS3 version of Rocksmith for my stepson as one of his Christmas gifts. He had indicated interest in learning the guitar a few times, but his mother and I were not ready to pay for lessons since his interests never seem to pan out long enough to make it "worth while." He had an acoustic guitar already that she bought him which sat around as a dust magnet more than anything else. I figured this pickup and that game would be a good way to get him to use the guitar while helping to learn a bit. If it takes off, then who knows, maybe lessons and an electric guitar are in order. It has worked perfectly for that, with the exception of the initial "Make Some Noise" calibration sequence. The game wants you to strum the guitar a great deal to make, well, a lot of noise. We really had to pound on the guitar strings hard and long to get past that calibration sequence. I'm pretty sure the game's original intentions don't really want you to go as "extreme" into that sequence as we had to in order to pass it, so I'm fairly certain the pickup is the cause for that stressful moment.Once past the "Make Some Noise" sequence, the pickup worked perfectly for the tuning and has allowed my stepson, and even me, to enjoy actually playing Rocksmith with his acoustic guitar. The price is fantastic compared to other pickups out there and it works great. Amazon's 4-stars means "I like it," and I do. The pickup has proven to be a good buy.
not bad, but...
February 9, 2014
I like how easy it can be attached to the soundhole, or, for that matter, to the headstock, where you may get less feedback than with the soundhole. It works well but produces a somewhat metallic sound, not quite true to your guitar (you will note this in particular with a classical guitar). This can be balanced, to some degree with your amp's equalizer and/or the treble and bass settings. However, compared to the AXL Pickup (which I bought for comparison), the Cherub is suboptimal when it comes to the sound it produces. It is not bad, but it does not reach the quality of the AXL. Both are inexpensive enough that you may buy them together and see what you like best. The Cherub may actually sound better with an acoustic metal sting guitar.

I really like the eq section and gain parameters
July 4, 2015
Does exactly what i needed it to do. I needed a DI to go from my acoustic guitar into my DAW. I really like the eq section and gain parameters. I use a noise suppressor to eliminate the slight hiss you naturally get with high gain settings. It even allows me to push the gain a bit higher to get a hint of overdrive (not distortion). Makes my Takamine growl for a more aggressive acoustic tone that I use for solos and even fingerpicked lines... Overall, for the price, it does the job for me.... which is making demos.
No bells or whistles, but a good value nonetheless
June 1, 2015
no bells or whistles here, just a simple DI w/tone shaping capabilities...as such, surely worth its cost...not real crazy about the foot switch (kinda flimsy), and so would not be looking at this for live applications...more for recording...I couple this with an Epiphone AJ 100, which has a pickup but no onboard EQ/volume, and I get a decent sound...not crazy about the color, and, as I wrote earlier, the foot switch is iffy, but for the price a clear winner...
Works great if you don't have a pre amp on your guitar.
May 12, 2015
Works just fine with my acoustics. One has a piezo pickup, one has a low output magnetic pickup. I really think the folks having trouble with it already have a pre amp on their guitar, and a good, hot signal. I got the best sounds with the low mids cut, and the blend control pretty low.Just for fun, I plugged in my Tele with humbuckers, cranked up the V tone, and got a nice overdrive sound out of it!! I figured it would distort, but was surprised that it sounded pretty good.I also tried it at a much lower setting with the Tele, and ran that into a MicroCube set to acoustic. Between the two modellers, I got a pretty good simulation of an acoustic tone out of the Tele.UPDATE - I played a gig using it through a PA in July 2016. Guitar was a Sigma, with Fishman Neo single coil magnetic pickup. Sounded good to me, and worked well.

Great little do-dad! It's straight forward, easy to apply, and actually has a great tone to it. I have one set up on my acoustic mandolin, and I'm thinking about putting one on my acoustic-electric (the preamp on that is okay, but the natural sound of the guitar is far better). Can't beat it for the price!!
Nice for what it is
January 16, 2017
These are a bit noisy, but for 8-10$ they are also a very affordable way to amplify almost any acoustic instrument without making any modifications to it. I have just started using them so not sure about the longevity, but its good while it lasts and for the price I can afford to replace it if I have to

Great sound
September 22, 2015
I purchased this because I was going to play mandolin at a church function, and needed amplification. I was a bit wary how well it would work, but was pleasantly surprised. Sound came through loud and clear.I'm less pleased with the adhesive. While true it doesn't mar the finish on the mandolin, it did leave some sticky residue (which, to be fair, came off when I reapplied the mic at a second show the next day). I have some concern how long the adhesive will last with repeated application and removal, but I believe some 3M Command strips should suffice.

Fun addition for my uke
May 20, 2017
This little thing turned my little uke into a fade melting weapon! Lol not really but it does work pretty well. The connection is a little cheesy abs the cord falls out alot. It does pick up the sound pretty well and is kind of fun to overdrive the Amp so it sounds more like an electric guitar. For the cheap money is worth having just for fun.
It will do better than almost any microphone will
January 4, 2017
This is an okay pickup if you are just wanting to record for practice sessions. It will do better than almost any microphone will, but don't use the included sound card. As others have said it has a constant high-pitch noise on its input. I would never remove the adhesive covering on the pickup and I wouldn't use the included clip or velcro. It would be silly to risk damaging your instrument. Instead, you can pin the pickup under your chinrest and have the cord run out along the tailpiece loosely.

October 20, 2015
It does what you would expect. I attempted to use it to install a piezo output for my electric guitar to run into a PA. The trouble is that the microphone picks the noise of touching/moving the guitar louder than the strings vibrating themselves. Still, not a bad experiment for the price.

Well it's from China so you get what you pay for, but I like the sound it works fine but the only thing is the jack doesn't fit all the way in when you plug it in and it keeps falling out. Other than that I like the sound and it's a good price.

It does not sound that good but it works
June 27, 2016
This works. It does not sound that good but it works. I keep it in my gig bag. Its a backup to a backup. I don't hate it. It cost me $5 so there is that. I messed with the EQ and played a little lower than usual and my guitar sounded OK. Would I buy it again? "hmmmm" Probably not but if I was in a pinch "maybe." True story: It just so happens a few days ago my internal pickup (electric acoustic) went south and I had this in my bag and that's why I am now writing this review. For $5, my performance continued. "WooHoo!"
Great cheap pickup!
February 1, 2016
I wasn't sure what to expect from a pickup for $5.62. Hard to believe how well it works with my ukulele. I use a coupler with another cord to give myself lots of room to move around from the PA. I'm going to order another one for backup.
and the seller was great and sent out the correct item post haste
October 22, 2015
VERY touchy. You'll hear everything that so much as brushes up against the cable. I guess this is OK for what it is. I would never ever gig with one. I received the wrong item when I ordered it, and the seller was great and sent out the correct item post haste, so there's that.I'm going to clamp mine to a small square of plywood, so it amplifies when I tap my foot, like the old blues guys used to do (well, they didn't have these back then, but you get my drift). Might be fun for solo blues stuff.
it works great!
July 21, 2015
The clamping mechanism is very strange to use. You have to hold it just right with your fingertips and make sure you don't bump anything while clipping it into the F-hole. For some reason the cord is about a mile long. All I need is to connect from the F-hole to the tuner sitting on my knee - about 10 inches. Once it's connected, though, it works great!
4 stars for Uke, 2 stars for classical guitar
November 23, 2014
It doesn't even come close to "picking up" the sound for amplification compared to a true pickup installation, to say nothing of the quality of the sound.REVISEDI read that this works on the headstock of a ukulele and it actually does so I've upped my rating. On my ukes it gives acceptable pickup considering the cost of this thing. It picks up the high end pretty well and can add a fun element to your uke playing. It is still pretty much useless on my classical guitar and really not better on the acoustic. Even with it amped to the point of feedback I can barely hear anything added to the sound of the guitar. If you bought this for guitar and feel it's useless I've read in the reviews that you can break open the puck and attach the mike directly with tape or something to get decent sound.
Good with some faults
February 19, 2014
This contact pickup is great if you're trying to amplify your acoustic guitar without buying a fancy active pickup. That being said you'd be better off just buying something a little more dedicated than a contact transducer like this. While it accurately reproduces the tone of a guitar (or really anything that vibrates to produce resonance) HOWEVER every single time you move, the pickup will reproduce that as well. That means if you play in a way where any part of you is rubbing on the body of the guitar, it sounds like an orchestra of carpenters sanding wood. I'd recommend this as more of a tuner than a go-to for acoustic guitar amplification.

Not that great
July 25, 2016
I'm really picky (pun semi intended) and have very high quality clear gear to listen to my 12 string through. This device was just not that great. I didn't fall in love. I had better results with equalizers. Mixers with built in parametric EQ are so cheap nowadays, I went with that.
At best it sort of helps shape sound, at worst it's a decent DI
July 5, 2016
I can't tell that it does that much. Your instrument will need to still sound pretty good out of the jack, this won't make a bad instrument sound good. But I find that it'm more helpful just as a DI for my passive acoustic pickup. But most venues will have those in house, so save your money for the LR Baggs if you're trying to perfect your acoustic tone, this will leave you wanting more.
Usable
May 9, 2016
Pros: it works and the sound is acceptable.Cons: Produces noticeable 60Hz buzz when used with power adapter and passive pickup. When on battery power, the unit works only in transparent mode, the on/off switch does not work, neither do any sound controls.
Provides some enhancement to sound but difficult to adjust
August 25, 2013
You can get some improvement in your acoustic sound with this device, however it takes a lot of tweaking and most of the settings make the instrument sound worse instead of better. I didn't notice a +20db change in the sound levels to me the were slightly louder at best unless the fader was set to maximum which didn't sound good. Without a noticeable increase in volume this wouldn't work well as a pre-amp if that is what you need if for.

Cheap...but it only lasted about a month before falling apart. Bought a few just to,have some spares. For the money, it's okay. Like strings, they've got a date of expiration. Delivery was fast.
Not too bad
July 20, 2016
As long as you run it through a mixer, cut a good deal of the high end and the mids no more than 1/4 up. It sounds really good. With the money.

Necesitas amplificador
you will enjoy this a lot and likely have no complaints
March 13, 2017
Here's the deal with these: Yes, they do work surprisingly well for pickups costing less than a box of tissues, and if you need one for playing around at home with a knock-around instrument, you will enjoy this a lot and likely have no complaints. HOWEVER: If you are using these in a crazy environment (constant gigs) and have a nice instrument (and definitely NOT sticking that velcro to your instrument finish!), these are not a good choice. Because I wasn't going to stick the velcro on, we used putty, which is what many people use for pickups, but the necks on these are so fragile and thin that after about 6 shows, the weight of the 1/4 cable pulling on the pickup will cause the wires to fray, and they stop working. We used these for a school of rock style workshop, and we found that at the show, they all suddenly stopped working. It seemed like a strange mystery until I looked very close and saw the wires starting to show through the black coating near the top of the pickup. I ordered expensive ($60 each) pickups with nice, thick wires and those have lasted so much longer and been much easier for the kids to rough-and-tumble with versus these pickups. Would not ever buy again....penny wise, pound foolish.

It'd be useful if the plastic cover was actually affixed to the shell covering. It would also be useful if, when the cover falls off, you don't discover that the actual piezo surface wasn't floating around loose inside the shell.

terrible sound quality
December 27, 2015
I thought I'd give this a try since it was so inexpensive, but I should have known better. The reviewers who give this four or five stars must have bad ears because this thing sounds terrible. The sound output is thin and tinny like an old AM radio. Spend a little more and get something you can actually use.
had to rig it ti get low end
February 24, 2015
Hers is why I've given this two stars. When I clip it to my guitar I notice it doesn't pick up low end very much. So after a long time messing with knobs on my amp I was still not able to get any lite end out of it. Even with the bass all the way up. Left with nothing else to do I touched the pick up and the bass kicked it...but then it was last as soon as i let go. Long story short,I ended up having to open the pick up, remove the Mic from the clip, and use duct tape to strap it to the body of my classical (around the bridge but not too close). For now, it'll be ok. I would still prefer less hi end. It's really tweaky and tinny sounding but it'll do for now. Other than that, not bad for the price
Surprisingly High Profile, Very Mid-Rangey
October 6, 2014
Meh.Just bare in mind that it's an $8 pickup. It's going to sound like an $8 pickup. Aggressively mid-rangey. Which I'd be willing to overlook if it fit better.Be aware that this pickup actually has a pretty tall profile. If the edge of your sound whole is anywhere near your highest string, you will have problems.I run a music school and wanted a cheap pickup to use on student guitars for recitals. We have a bunch of younger students, with 3/4 parlor guitars, and this pickup kept hitting their high E string. Same thing with Ukulele. So if you have a larger sound hole and like mids, go ahead and pick this guy up.
Okay pickup for the price
October 29, 2013
First we have to realize this is not a $200 pickup or even a $50 pickup. It's less than ten bucks. It has a specially-designed clamp that is good for attaching it to the sound hole of a guitar. As such it is not going to work for an instrument without a considerable-size sound hole. It also will tend to get in the way of those who play directly over the sound hole, as it is quite easy to hit and will pick up any contact noise. It is more sensitive than cheaper competitor devices. Unless you run it directly into the amp within a distance of 8 ft you are also going to need a 1/4" to 1/4" coupler (to allow it to connect to an extension guitar cord). You will need such extension as this tends to have significant feedback issues if the amp is too close or facing the guitar. It is a passive pickup, so you will need either an amp with a passive-specific input or a preamp mixer or other preamp device. If you don't have a preamp system, this will do you no good.So because of the limitations I rate it as above. For what it does though-- providing a passive pickup that can be quickly switched out between instruments, it does okay. I believe there are better pickup concepts out there for about the same amount of money, including adhesive-disk mikes. I would prefer to permanently mount a pickup of some kind and there are many low-cost pickups out there to choose from. But this is a slightly different concept (removable) that for the price is worth checking in to.
Really sensitive, but to the wrong things
July 30, 2013
If you bump or move the wire, it can be heard. The most sensitive part of the pickup is the part shown inside the hole on the pictures, but if you mount it like that on my guitar, you don't hear anything. If you mount it against the pick guard, you hear nothing. I tried moving it to the top of the sound hole, and it performed marginally better, but then you have this cord to deal with. I moved it under the strings like an electric guitar pickup and it's a little better, but not much. Tends to over-amplify unless your amp settings are perfect.
pick-up
July 2, 2013
Pick-up arrived on time and works. Clips on easy; but is way too sensitive. It not only picks up music from the soundhole, but picks up the sound of my hands touching the guitar anywhere. It basically turns the whole guitar into a microphone. Guitar sound is cheap and twangy through this device, not rich and full as unplugged.I purchased a Seymour Duncan sound hole pick-up that seems to give true warm sound, although I have to turn volume up much higher on the amp than I do with the Cherub. The Seymour Duncan does not pick up unwanted handling sounds from the guitar, only music.

not the best
December 14, 2016
I bought 3 since they are all cheap. One good, 2 suck. I'm dealing with an old acoustic. If you have a fine instrument you may prefer the suction of the others, but read below:Pickups Piezo Microphone Contact 3 in 1 for...from UXCELLGreenten 1Pc Piezo Contact Microphone Pickup...AXL Acoustic Guitar Transducer Pickup with 1/4 Jack and 9 Foot CableAll are about 10 bucks but the first one in the list is the clear winner. You just need a place to stick the 3 mics. I sprayed a bit of laquer from a can inside on the underside of the guitar top, paint would work, and then sanded a bit and had a mirror like surface. Then drill one hole and you have a really nice setup. The others work with suction which is not the way to go. Greenten picks up every movement of your right arm: not spec for guitar top. The AXL is ok, but again the suction thing… If I had to use those suction things, I'd cut the thing down so that I could better glue the pickup to the guitar inside like the one from UXCELL write for more info, but it's clearly too noisy

Give this a pass. The pickup is very noisy and it literally does what the name says; pick up EVERYTHING. Banging on the instrument, clothing moving against the instrument, even talking and singing. The Velcro strap meant to hold the jack in place is weak and the pickup picks up the 'grinding' of the Velcro. Do yourself a favor and buy a proper pickup with a proper installation.

TWO bad DIs. Sounds better DIRECT. PRO Musician. Read my review.
December 5, 2015
BOTH my friend and I bought this DI because we needed a backup and had been very happy with Behringer products. I got mine and immediately HATED the sound. I know it's subjective, but I had a pro friend listen and we both agreed it completely muddied and distorted the sound and the EQs weren't responding the way they were supposed to. We both said the guitars sounded better bypassing the Behringer. I returned it to Amazon and made them pay shipping figuring it was a fluke. ANOTHER friend bought one and had the exact same experience with it.SO. This has clearly gotten a lot of good reviews, so if yours sounds like crap SEND IT BACK and order another to see if maybe it was a fluke. But honestly if you gig in ANY live settings bite the bullet and just get a better DI. These two are the ones I recommend....Dean Markley Plus DI - http://www.amazon.com/Dean-Markley-DI-PLUS-Amplifier/dp/B0002J157GLR Baggs Para Acoustic DI (I would argue the best on the market for the money) - http://www.amazon.com/LR-Baggs-Para-Acoustic-D-I/dp/B001E95KEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449339383&sr=8-1&keywords=baggs+para+di
Hard to ajust it doesn't clean or boost my guitar while playing live.
January 24, 2014
I bought this pedal because I needed to boost my guitar's sound while playing live, not only boost the sound but make it more clear and brighter, this pedal is hard to adjust and gives the guitar a more dusty and quiet sound. I don't recommend this pedal, I do recommend the EQ700 for playing live, for $25 it gives your guitar a clear and louder sound.

Hello?!? Is this thing on??
April 3, 2017
This pickup is not a good thing by any means. The adhesive is basically a one time use and almost impossible to get off. The sound is so faint by the time you turn it up to hear it, it screams with feedback. It doesn't matter where you place the pickup either, it sound horrible everywhere . I did find, although when you press really hard on the pickup a lot of sound comes through but still not impressed. If you're looking for a cheap solution look somewhere else. I could think of a lot of other things to spend $10 on. Lesson learned
Great for feedback!
April 2, 2017
What junk. It picks up any sound and as soon as you turn the volume up on your amp even a tiny bit, you will get a blasted by a shriek of feedback.DO NOT use the adhesive tape they provide unless you want the thing stuck on your instrument forever...or risk destroying your instrument by ripping it off. i tested on an old ukulele.

Just a toy
January 24, 2017
The 1/4 jack doesn't make a good solid connection with the guitar cable and so it's always squealing or creating static. When it is connected the sound clarity is very poor. I tried it on both a ukulele and an acoustic guitar. You could never really use it for a gig as the cable jack just isn't a reliable connection. It's just a toy to play around in the house, which for the price seems about right.
