Five Star Reviews: | 50% ... and daughter-in-law for Christmas and they tell me they love using it January 5, 2016 I gave this to my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas and they tell me they love using it. It removes corks very easily and quickly. The only problem they have encountered so far is removing the cork from the corkscrew. Possibly they are not doing it correctly? Overall though, they seemed very pleased and used it over the holidays quite a bit. Impressive wine opener January 3, 2016 I have only had the rabbit lever corkscrew opener for one month. But it was the busiest month of celebrating for me, hence Christmas and New Years. So I was able to really try out the opener. First, thank you so much for all the emails you sent explaining how to use the opener. Scary I thought, if I need so much help working it. I'll never be able to use it. But that was not true, when I received it I felt I knew exactly what to do.It was easy to use the cork came out immediately, I looked very professional using it. The only thing that took awhile to do was taking the cork off the opener. Recommendation add that to your emails. For some reason, some of the gears got out of sync and so the corkscrew wouldn't go down far enough to remove the cork. After a lot of research, I decided to by the Goodman's Wine Bottle Opener and i twas a good choice. I love the rabbit, but the cork release motion could sometimes be jerky. The movement on the Goodman's is really smooth with no jerky motion. The Goodman's also requires less strength to grip the handle as compared to the rabbit. It's also a bit more compact than the rabbit, so a little easier to travel with. Highly recommended for any wine fan. It worked great and I love that it came with an extra ... Slightly felt a little cheap when we tried using it (felt like it couldn't take so much pressure) but it worked fine. However, the corkscrew is not very sharp and as a consequence getting the cork out sometimes becomes more difficult than it should be. We replaced the screwards that came installed on it, with the extra that was supplied and haven't had a problem since. After a little bending of the original screw it works fine as well. Just shocked that the screw originally installed did not work. Great bu not as pictured October 18, 2015 We received the product with only the one cork screw no additional. Also there were marks on the products which lead us to believe it was already used and the screw was slightly bent. There was no wine information booklet supplied as the ad showed either. The opener still works well... just felt like we got a 2nd hand one by mistake. It does not pull out from the cork easily. One of the reasons I purchased this particular item was because most of the recommendations stated that it came in a very nice gift box. I was disappointed to find that mine did not. Rather it came in an inexpensive cardboard box. Great product, terrible smell July 19, 2015 The wine opener works fine but I will be returning this item for a refund due to its unpleasant/unbearable smell. The package and the items have the smell of soured mothballs. I have hand washed and dishwasher washed them but the smell won't go away. The smell is so strong that I had to wrap them in plastic wrap to keep the smell from permeating my kitchen and house. I've purchased items online before (usually books) and had to throw them away because they had this same smell. I thought that since they were made of metal I could wash the smell off but it didn't work and I don't want to put the smelly stopper in my wine. I'm guessing it's an issue with storage so maybe someone should look into that. |

Two Star Reviews: | 8% I am not pleased with this purchase and will not buy another one March 5, 2016 I waited to give a review, thinking the opener needed to loosen up, but after 3 months, it still sticks most of the time and is hard to use. I am not pleased with this purchase and will not buy another one. Terrible Purchase, No Service Whatsoever December 11, 2015 Worked great for about a month. Then it stopped working ... you can't get the cork off of the screw. I wrote to Goodmann's but they ignored me. Terrible purchase. ... figure how to work it but then it seemed fine. After a while October 14, 2015 Took a few tries to figure how to work it but then it seemed fine. After a while, the corkscrew wouldn't remove the cork - it just unwound itself from the cork and I had to use a conventional corkscrew to get the cork out. No matter what I did, the corkscrew just reversed itself and the cork stayed put. Very disappointing since the product seems well made. Kudos to Goodmann's for their prompt response and refund. Difficult to Use August 22, 2015 Besides needing strong arms and a strong hand, this wine opener does work. Too bad I have to work harder to open the bottle. However, if it lasts longer than the Houdini Rabbits I've purchased in the past (lasted a few months, then broke (metal is made from zinc die-cast - pot metal to some). If this breaks in the next few months, I will be livid! But on the upside, I'm getting an arm and hand work-out every time I open a bottle of wine! For many years, I owned a similar corkscrew (which I loved!), but it finally gave out on me (a small piece of plastic broke at the hinge). I then purchased this Goodmanns corkscrew, but it didn't operate as smoothly as my old one, so I purchased a similar item from Shenkitchen Professional (for less than a dollar more). I compared the action of the two brands, and the Shenkitchen corkscrew works much more smoothly (very similar to my old one), so I returned this one from Goodmanns. The packaging for the Goodmanns corkscrew was also less attractive. One Star Reviews: | 27% Very disappointed. It is already too late to return it. April 3, 2016 It doesn't work. I bought this as a special gift. Uesd only 2 times, both at special event with guests, neither time it worked. We couldn't believe how ineffective it was, so finally took a thorough look. There is a push down pin on the black rubber handle side, when you push it against the bottle, it is suppose to get pressed into the handle, then lock the spiral pin in position, so when you pull the lever up, the pin won't spin and pulls the cork out. The one in our case has a defect push down pin , it does not go down enough to lock the spiral pin! So when we pull the lever, the pin just spins out.Very disappointed. It is already too late to return it, even thought it is still brand new. At leat try yours right away.Looking at previous reviews again, there are too many positive ones with no verified purchase. Nah. December 29, 2015 Purchased for my wife as a gift. The first time she asked me to open a bottle of wine (our first time using it), I took it out of the box and the corkscrew was a little loose, and didn't look screwed all the way onto the rest of the mechanism. Tightened it as much as I could, and it seemed to "pop" out of alignment before I could get the lever all the way down. Cork was about 1/4 the way out of the bottle, the hole made by the corkscrew was down the side rather than in the middle, and the corkscrew was loose from the device again. Tigtened again thinking I did something wrong. Same thing happened on bottle #2. No harm, no foul; I got the corks out with my old, classic manual corkscrew. But I'm returning this. Didn't look very nice anyhow - the coating was uneven and seemed to be bubbled. Total waste of money December 27, 2015 Total waste of money. Lasted three weeks and I finally threw it in the garbage.The silver cap nut just under the lever constantly stripped off making the cork screw inoperable. Holding the lever tight against the neck of the bottle only is effective 30% of the time in removing the cork from the screw. I got screwed! In a short period of time I have bought two because both new ones I bough broke internally, and I am not, was not abusive to the November 23, 2015 The wine bottle opener is our second of this design. The first broke from being assembled incorrectly. There is a pin that secures the black tubular section that the corkscrew passes through. The pin was pressed in at an angle which fractured the black tube section and the corkscrew opener failed. OK, things happen. I like the design so I'll buy another one. Bought another and it fell apart on the second bottle I tried to open. The chrome cap that tops the cork screw assembly was pushed off the top of the corkscrew assembly and is jammed there now. I don't think you really want to ask me what I think of your rabbit lever corkscrew wine bottle opener. The design is excellent but the integrity of the manufactured parts and assembly are poor So rather than praise your opener I'd like to talk about a refund for them, Be glad to send you a bag of loose parts. Instead, it completely missed the bottle and speared my palm which due to the design of the opener was in very close proximity to the business end of the puller. I was using it properly. Sometimes bad reviews are valid. July 21, 2015 I always take bad reviews to be over dramatic. Not this time. This product literally STINKS. I was surprised. Putting the stopper into your wine bottle, will ruin the wine and your day. I cant describe the smell. It doesnt go away. Theres no masking it. You could remove the rubber from the openers wings, which would leave you with a bad design. The screw is too long, and extends below the bottom, so you must screw in the cork while the device is elevated above the bottle. It will probably work, but why. The stopper is unusabe without its stinky seal. The opener is poorly designed. I cant believe they just raised the price. Avoid this one. I wish I had! Product has really bad smell! July 3, 2015 Unfortunately, the wine opener and stopper both had and still have a terrible!! smell upon opening the package. I think the smell is coming from the plastic part of the opener and the rubber part of the stopper, but can't be sure. I have washed the items 3 times so far trying to get rid of the smell.. the items are currently soaking in baking soda and water, but I can still smell them several feet away. The sad part is that I tried out the opener and it worked really well. And the items actually look well-made. What a disappointment! I would gladly take a refund or have the items re-sent in case the items I received were defective. much better products out there April 10, 2015 Product is cheap (thin gauge) stainless steel. The overwhelming number of positive reviews prompted our purchase when we were looking for a new wine opener. Sadly, this product is very very cheap in quality and I really wished that we had not purchased this, as it will go in the trash soon. The corkscrew circumference is thicker / wider than most, which tears up the cork upon opening a bottle. For plastic or synthetic corks this is not a big deal, but for a quality bottle, this device just rips open cork. Second, the top end is advertised as being able to open beer, but it is so flimsy that after opening two bottles of beer the entire handle bends. It can be bent back by hand, so just know that the quality of the steel is very very cheap. We would return this if we still had the packaging, but we do not. It will end up in the trash next week or in the donation pile. Not much use for this. Very much regretting our purchase and the positive reviews; much better products out there. Would never recommend this to a friend. |
