COVER THOSE WOUNDS! Good method
October 5, 2017
I cut my hands and other areas frequently. I usually just clean them but recently I was fighting for my life after getting Staff infection from some cut and it has caused me to find products that can help keep cuts from creating worsening and believe me you don’t want Staff infection that just hit me with surprise attack and then.... I don’t know everything about this product but I used it on a couple of places and it did provide a nice barrier.
Love it!
September 6, 2017
Love it. In the 1950's used it regularly, and glad to see it again. I have scratches from dog claws and this helps them heal quickly, and with less or no scabbing. I bought two of them, so I have plenty. It does have a strong odor (like nail polish remover), that dissipates in a reasonable time.
Perfect for restaurant employees.
July 6, 2017
This belongs in every restaurant first aid box and every chefs knife roll. Stop the bleeding first and paint this on you can do service in an open kitchen with little worry of you bleeding again or getting a cut infected in front of customers. I personally use 3 coats just to be safe.
You'll never go back to standard band-aids!
March 27, 2017
I haven't used band-aids once since I discovered this product. I use it for cuts, scrapes, and everyday abrasions. Seals the wound, keeps it waterproof, and heals so much faster. I'll never be without this.
Good to Have Around!
March 23, 2017
I remember having this product years ago, and for smaller scrapes and small cuts along the hands, this is a much better alternative than a bandage. I also bought the spray-on version which is thinner and a very good option for friction burns, etc.
Good stuff - does have an odor
April 7, 2016
This product works well. On a open cut it will sting when first put on and it does have the pungent odor of cloves, I don't mind the smell but if you don't like cloves it's not for you. It is far superior to band-aids for small cuts, once past the initial sting with the cut sealed they sting no more. In my opinion because of the flexible seal created cuts heal better and are unquestionably less annoying while they heal.Eventually as the bottle drains and more air crepes in the product will thicken but remains usable for quite some time. I typically have to reapply once or twice a day. I wouldn't call it perfect but it works well enough that I've continued to buy it over a number of years and have a bottle at home and work.

Works Great, but hide it from your co-workers...
July 23, 2017
Works great, but I wish there were single use packets available. Most of the bottle ends up going to waste as soon as somebody I work with picks it up and uses it... I either give it to them or toss it in the trash, as that doesn't seem safe to me.
Great skin protectant, but slow drying time
June 5, 2017
Works very well to cover skin irritations. Be aware it does take some time to dry, so you should be careful until it's fully cured. The only reason a deducted a star is because of the drying time, else I would give it 5 stars.
Essential for any medicine cabinet
October 11, 2016
This is a great product for minor scrapes and it especially shines for paper cuts. All you have to do is press your skin together, apply a little drop, and let it dry. It'll create a waterproof seal and it is flexible enough to be used on finger joints. The really minor drawback is that it takes about a minute to dry.
Burns then feels great
May 11, 2016
Surprising how much it burned when I first put it on a cut. It does the job but if your using your hands to disconnect cables or plug in cables, the glue has a tendency to come off. For this reason I always keep a bottle at work. The burning is worth it as once the glue dries, the pain stops. I also dont mind the pain anymore. Rather amazing invention.
Great For Cuts In Places Where Bandaids Don't Work As Well
August 24, 2015
Research -- not to mention abundant personal experience -- shows that cuts and scrapes heal much faster when covered with a bandage. They also scar less. But sometimes you get a small cut or scrape in a place where traditional bandaids don’t work. These are areas of the body -- the face, hands, feet, knees -- where too much motion occurs for a bandaid to remain properly attached. For small cuts in those places, I've found that New Skin liquid bandage is an extremely effective alternative. It's very simple to use. After getting a cut, I "irrigate" the wound area by keeping it under a stream of running water for roughly 60 seconds before gently washing it with soap. Then, after allowing it to dry -- it must be completely dry in order for this to work -- I apply the liquid gel with the small brush applicator. I allow this first layer to dry, which I sometimes hurry along by placing the area in front of a small fan. Then I apply a second layer. After that dries, I'm good to go. I repeat the process twice a day, peeling off the old liquid bandage and replacing it with a fresh application. Another great feature of this product is that it is waterproof, the effectiveness of which I can personally attest. Some things to keep in mind:-The liquid gel contains an antiseptic (8-Hydroxyquinoline), and you should prepare yourself for some stinging each time you apply the product.-Initially there is a noticeable and rather unpleasant smell. But don't worry, it goes completely away after a minute or two.-In my opinion, one layer is insufficient. In order for it to remain in place, especially in areas with frequent movement, you should apply at least two layers.-I cannot emphasize this enough: Make certain that all bleeding has stopped and that the wound area is clean and completely dry before applying liquid bandage.-There so much product in the bottle that you could never use all of it. But even so, once you've broken the bottle's seal, it's probably a good idea to replace it every couple of years.
Almost perfect
March 9, 2015
I have Raynauds so have splits in my fingers all the time. I have gone through hundreds of dollars worth of tape which is useless if you wash your hands as often as you should because you spend all day removing and replacing bandages. My brother told me about New Skin and I have been using it since. The burn when you put it on, seemingly from an antiseptic, is overkill as far as I am concerned for no one should have to suffer pain when we could just as easily use soap or Betadine but one day maybe companies will listen to patients. Meanwhile it is New Skin or Dermaplast (which you must mortgage your house to buy). It only lasts 24 hours then you have to peel it off and reapply if the cut/split has not started to mend. I reapply for a week or so. Movement once you use New Skin is not a problem as it is with tape. It is especially helpful on splits that go under your fingernail where tape is useless. And it is wonderful when putting on mittens/gloves where tape is not as it balls and falls off.

not for me
July 23, 2017
I used this on my index finger cuticle which got over-dried and started to split. I just applied two coats over the skin. It was like nail polish and made my finger very shinny ( that's OK). After I did the dishes I realized the more skin was peeling with this liquid bandage hanging from the peeling skin.I did not know the point of using it. I will find the other use around the house.

April 8, 2017
I got this a few years ago and loved it. got a new bottle, and it stings like crazy (old one stung far less). Also doesn't seem to be working as well. Lots of others are saying the formula changed, which I can believe.

New-Skin liquid bandage
March 14, 2017
I purchased this to put over a skin tag. After two days it itched so it got peeled off. It also had a nail-polish smell to it. It probably would work fine for its original purpose.
It's ok
March 3, 2017
I used this when I was doing glass mosaic work and getting a few tiny cuts now and then. It didn't really seal up the skin as well as I'd expected and stung a bit, so I stopped using it.
Works for some things better than others
April 30, 2016
Works for some things better than others... i used this on a small, superficial cut on my finger, and it really helped it heal. At first, it stings to use and smells like nail polish, which turned me off. However my cut went away pretty quickly. On another part of my hand though, I put a thicker layer on, and it was very itchy and uncomfotble. I immediately tried to remove it, but it was difficult and resulted in tearing my skin. Overall, I'd recommend only using a thin layer of this on small, superficial cuts.

Good product, but its brush-on version is superior
July 16, 2016
I bought the spray=on version of New Skin to compare against the older, brush-on style. Here are my findings:PROS:+ Like the brush-on New Skin, this product is great for quickly sealing and protecting cuts on pars of your body where traditional band-aids don't work well -- joints, especially fingers and hands.+ The product dries in about 3 minutes into a mostly-clear, somewhat flexible synthetic "scab."+ Because it is a spray, there is little or no risk of cross-contamination between users, in contrast to pathogens that might conceivably be communicated between users sharing the brush-on model. However, the antiseptic properties of New Skin itself make it unlikely any pathogen would survive that contamination route.+ In contrast to Band-aids, you can shower or wash a cut protected by New Skin, and it won't get soggy or wash away.CONS:- Hard to aim the spray in exactly the right place.- Often squirts on more New Skin than you really want. requiring extended drying times.- After a day or so, New Skin tends to crack and flake, requiring trimming (I use nail scissors) or re-sealing with more New Skin.CONCLUSIONS:New skin is far superior to Band-aids for cuts on your hands, elbows, knees, or feet. However, the spray-on version of New Skin is inferior to its brush-on version because it does not provide sufficient control over where and how much New Skin is applied. This product is good, but the brush-on version is better..
Not a breakthrough
July 26, 2014
If you're expecting a liquid skin that deals with the mess of protecting cuts and bruises from elements - yes , it can do an OK job.Ber in mind in can be washed off, tears easily once cure and flakes in the process. Cannot say if any cuts I took were faster to close. Oh well.

Didn't work for me
March 18, 2016
Maybe there's a trick to using this, but when I tried it on the first cut I got after having purchased it, it stung like crazy and still bled right through it! I thought it was going to be a great alternative alleviating the need for band-aids that get wet or just come loose and fall off, but it's not. I won't be buying this again.

I'll "cut" to the chase....It hurts like a....umm....a lot. It does cover the wound and create a barrier but it hurts and it takes longer to dry than I thought it would. I will only use this if a bandage is completely impossible. And even then I would rather just keep it clean and go without anything if I can.

Stings Quite Painfully
January 15, 2017
I got this for my 2 year old who is bounds to end up with scrapes and cuts... first time I used it he went ape and would never allow to use again. Next time I used it on myself and now I see why he didn't find it too pleasant. This stuff stings like a mother.
Very disappointed, why change a good thing?
July 12, 2016
I had been using what remained in a bottle my Dad gave me. Anyone who works with their hands know how invaluable this product was.... I say WAS because the formula has been changed. HOWEVER Amazon still has the old ingredients listed in the purchase info. That is NOT the product you will receive. The former active ingredient was 8-hydroxyquinoline 1%.....now it is Benzethonium Chloride 0.2%. You will receive the new product....gone is the oil of clove, and the magically sealing, pain relieving liquid that has rescued my hands many a time! The new product does absolutely NOTHING. You might as well use clear nail polish. I had to get up in the middle of the night and dig out my old bottle to apply.....instant pain relief. Awwwwww. Today I bought a few back ups of the good stuff on EBay..darn those manufacturers. Amazon, please update your ingredient info!!!! In the photo, my beloved bottle is on the left.....notice the change of ingredient.
The new version does not live up to the old. Purchase something else.
February 25, 2016
I will be reviewing the newest formula of New-Skin as compared to the previous version of the formula.Ingredients:Active: (New) Benzethonium Chloride 0.2% - AntisepticInactive: Amyl acetate, camphor, ethyl acetate, ethyl alcohol, n-butyl acetate, nitrocellulose.Active: (Old) 8-Hydroxyquinoline 1% - AntisepticInactive: alcohol 6.7%, oil of cloves, pyroxylin solution.I've used the new formula since September 2015, and I am completely dissatisfied with it.1. The current formula takes much longer to dry than the previous version.2. It does not seal as well, even after several coats. I am having to apply band-aids over the wound even when using New-Skin. The old formula would leave a thick coat protecting the wound.3. Wounds take much longer to heal. often when I arrive home I will remove what coating of New-Skin is remaining, and apply an antibiotic ointment and a band-aid.4. The scent has changed. understandably since the formula has changed. New-Skin now smells like fingernail polish remover, and burns like it as well, but goes away quickly as it dries. The older formula scent was not quite as strong since it was primarily oil of cloves, and was more pleasant, but would last with you throughout the day.Now I made the purchase because in the area called Important Information the ingredients section noted that this was the old formula. but when the package arrived and I checked the box I was disappointed to find out that the listing on Amazon was incorrect, and this is the new formula.I will not be purchasing New-Skin again with the current formula. Find a different instant skin type of bandage.

Comes out of the nozzle way too fast if you have a small cut
October 26, 2017
It comes out of the nozzle too fast. I purchased this at CVS because I needed immediately and they did not have the one with the brush. I only recommend using this when you have a larger cut and you can use the hand that you use every day for things to put your finger on the nozzle. Otherwise it comes out way too fast. When you use the one with the brush like I just ordered and it just came in yesterday you have full and total control of how much you put on it doesn’t go all over the place. I have diabetes and I cut my finger a lot more than I should for some unknown reason so I wash my hands frequently as most people do I have to continuously change a band aid. Now eventually I got it down where I could spray it kind of without going all over the place you have to put on multiple coats and yes it does work and yes it becomes waterproof. But here’s what happened to me after only having it for three days all the air pressure went out of the can and I have a half used can that I paid almost $11 for that I have to throw in the garbage. I have a picture down below above. This stuff works great if you have a large cut I recommend the new skin with the brush for any small cuts because you don’t have to have it go all over the place

Terrible. Only worked for 1 day and then the sprayer stopped spraying. You can hear the product in the can but it is not coming out. Burns like hell and left a scar on my hand where I used it. When I contacted the company on their facebook page and emailed them about the broken product they ignored me, so I'm certain they know they are selling a faulty product. I used to be pretty loyal to New Skin products, after this I'm never using them again.
