Five Star Reviews: | 57% Solid performance July 3, 2017 Always keep some of this type of stuff in the house, office. Great for papercuts, hangnails. Doesn't adhere where skin has to bend and flex, though, but a good option. I hate paper cuts January 20, 2017 Works great to stop paper cuts from bugging you all day and make cuts heal faster Just like a miracle healer cracks on my fingers heal faster. January 5, 2017 Use it on my fingers helps the cracks on my fingers heal faster. This is great stuff. Has an antibiotic and then seals it ... November 9, 2016 This is great stuff. Has an antibiotic and then seals it over. Keeps other contamination out and healing is much faster. Great Liquid Bandage June 2, 2013 The New Skin Liquid Bandage is a great product. It does have a strong odor. It dries very quickly. I would highly recommend this product. | 63% Hugs to the team who invented this product! September 3, 2017 This is an amazing product! I used to get it at the drug store but none of them carry it any longer. It does NOT burn like some of them do. I've had this wound for months and wound care nurses who were not familiar with stripable skin. After she tore my skin off with the tape, I was able to repair myself with this product. I fired that nurse, but have shown the other nurses how to remove tape more carefully and they are using this product on others who have tissue breakdown due to all the tape. TRULY DOES NOT STING. Because my husband is going ... August 16, 2017 TRULY DOES NOT STING. Because my husband is going through chemo therapy, his cuts are very sensitive. This liquid bandage is definitely worth the price. Perfect pain free liquid bandage July 12, 2017 Product arrived on time, as expected and well packaged. Product is perfect for minor scrapes and cuts especially for children who do not care for painful second skin options who do not stay dry. Also perfect when bandaids are not ideal.... perfect for the hockey or skating mom always slicing their fingers A must in all first-aid kits and diaper bags. April 24, 2017 This is the best to use for little ones it doesn't sing and brings instant relief. I have used it on my kids since they were babies. It wears off after a few baths. Great February 24, 2013 Love this stuff! I am an emergency physician, and a soccer mom, and I keep this in my first aid kit. It doesn't sting at all, unlike the other brands I have tried. It is a dirt magnet, like all skin glues. so I always warn everyone after I apply it that it will protect the scrape even though it attracts alot of dirt and looks horrible!! absolutely the best liquid bandage on the market May 11, 2012 I have a skin condition on my arms that makes it impossible to use ordinary bandages. My thin skin tares when I try to remove them. I have tried other liquid bandage products and they sting greatly and take for ever to dry. The smell of these others lingers for hours. The Nextcare spray bandage doesn't sting or smell. It dries fast and lasts for days. I am so happy the item is available on line since it is hard to find in drug stores. |
Four Star Reviews: | 20% I've used this for years ... August 15, 2017 New Skin drys quickly and it will fill in a blemish if it's uneven. You can also apply makeup over this product after it drys. The thicker you apply it the easy it is to remove. It will stay on really well and it will pull out hair or eyebrows if you get it in them ... so be careful where you apply it. It will sting a little bit when applying it if you have an open wound. I've used this product for several years all over my body ... minor cuts, blemishes, etc. Four Stars January 13, 2015 It was just what I was wanted, but not able to procure from my local drug store. | 18% This is definitely no sting otherwise my 2 yr old ... June 13, 2017 This is definitely no sting otherwise my 2 yr old would have screamed with there was more product in the small container. Four Stars May 17, 2017 Not a perfect seal on the first try, but much better than just letting a cut flow freely. This is a really good idea, but it is sticky October 13, 2015 This is a really good idea, but it is little sticky. My kids didn't like how it was sticky after I sprayed it on. My oldest son washed it off right away because it bugged him so bad. Good Stuff! April 14, 2015 Works wonderfully, but goes on a little thinly. It does not sting at all. Works well over larger areas. For smaller areas or cuts use the Nextcare Skin Crack Care. Seals to keep the water out, but does wash/wear off over the course of a day so you will have to apply several times. Good stuff though!!! I'd really like to give this 4.5 stars rather than 4 because it's better than 4 stars. For my Dad April 5, 2013 My Dad has very thin skin and it tears very easily. He also has to take blood thinners and bleeds a lot, even if its just a scratch. He can't use bandaids on a wound, even minor one, because when he tries to remove the bandaid, the sticky on it tears his skin worse. This spray on bandage works really good. Only prob is to get the wound to stop his bleeding in order to apply on the spray. I would recommend this product. Very effective for the elderly with fragile skin. |
Three Star Reviews: | 7% Not good for knuckles June 7, 2014 I purchased this for the occasional knuckle abrasions I get while training. The product actually made the abrasions worse when the fingers bent, tearing the wounds open deeper. So this is probably great for flat, non flexible areas of the body but not great for the bendy bits. Just use a bandaid. July 24, 2012 Cons-A-Yes, it smells. So I wouldn't advise using it if you're looking to conceal a wound or are going somewhere your scent will be important to you, because that smell will not go away until the product is nearly peeled off.B-I'm surprised that some reviews state that the product allows wounds to breathe. It does not. If anything it keeps wounds, well, gooey.C-I'm honestly not convinced of its disinfectant quality either. Every time I've used it my wounds have become red and swollen and clearly have pus trapped beneath the liquid bandage in addition to being hot to the touch. I don't know about anyone else, but that sounds an awful lot like an infection to me.D-It also tends to increase the visibility of scars, at least as far as I've seen.Pros-A-If you have a scab or a dry wound you're worried about rubbing on clothes, this is perfect. Both to protect your clothes and to keep wounds from getting worse. Great way to protect your bedding from scabs that are cracking.B-Great for blisters so long as they're dry. Would not advise using with blisters you've not drained yet.C-Way easier to carry around than half a dozen different sizes of bandaids.D-It increases the visibility of scars. So if you like your scars, this is probably a good investment. All told, I think carrying bandaids or gauze and medical tape is a better bet, barring frequent, smallish wounds that are awkward to bandage in any other fashion. It's waterproof... up to a point July 17, 2011 First of all, yes, this product will smell first like the solvent it uses (which should be reason enough to consider other products first), then like cloves. Maybe it smells less pleasant than the oil of cloves it uses to presumably cover up the smell of the polymer? This is also mainly intended for use on clean, shallow wounds, so large scrapes or deep wounds should be treated by another method. It's also going to sting quite a bit until the solvent vaporizes, so don't get the impression that this is like cyanoacrylate. If you get a paper cut on your fingertip, this would probably perform better than the traditional bandage, which can slip off very easily, especially when wet. It's also about as waterproof as the adhesive on most Band-Aid type bandages-- as in, if the bandage is underwater long enough, water will start to get between the bandage and the skin. That means you'll need to re-apply the stuff if this happens, and the effect is worse in hot soapy water (then again, it could be my skin type, which tends to be pretty oily). It's also very tempting to peel off in this state, but I don't advise that if you're still healing, because you might peel your skin off the wound in the process. Ouch.As far as I can tell, the bandage is airtight. Modern bandages try to allow the wound to "breathe" as much as possible to keep anaerobic pathogens from infecting the wound and to help the tissue rebuild itself, so a wound treated with New Skin may be disinfected by its solvent, but it may take longer to heal (I've had this happen before).Thin layers are very flexible, but if you apply more than one layer, it can be quite stiff-- I've had it shear off or even split when it was on the outside of my knuckles, and if there's residual pain deep in the wound, this isn't going to help much. You can use this as a thimble of sorts-- if you've just started playing a stringed instrument with a fingerboard, you may want to put this on your fingers until they become callused. Like an artificial scab - works great for joints August 6, 2009 I had a scrape on my elbow that wasn't healing quite right - every time I moved my arm, the developing scab would crack and expose the wound. And it hurt every time! Regular bandages kept the area too moist, so I tried this stuff. It does sting a ton and it does have a strong smell like nail polish. But once it dries, it doesn't hurt and it's just like a real scab. I found I had a much greater range of painless movement, and the wound healed faster.Because of the stinging, I wouldn't use it if a bandaid would do. But for cuts in odd places where bandaids don't work well, it's pretty good. I might try a different brand of liquid bandage in the future, but I'll finish my bottle of this first. I guess it works... July 2, 2008 Smells like paint thinner or something, nasty and strong smell that lasts forever. It's probably been 6 hours since I put it on. I put a 1 second spray on a 5 inch scratch from my dog on my arm. It covered it well and seems to be like putting super glue over the cut. It stings for a couple seconds and then feels better. The smell made my dog stay away from me for over an hour, lol.I guess it's better than putting a huge bandaid on though. | 7% Sticky stuff April 20, 2014 I primarily bought this item for my 3 y/o daughter who hates and will not wear any type of bandages. It did the job and did not sting which was great! When I tried it on myself I found it to be VERY sticky upon applying and really didn't hold the blood in from my small cut. So if you are going to use this item make sure the bleeding has stopped before applying. Other than that it was a great purchase. A worthy idea but.... January 16, 2014 A pain to apply on parts distant from the bottle in one's hand. For example, aiming for the sweet spot on a foot is an exercise, hit, miss, and maybe. The bottle is very small, the mist sprayed outward and or downward, is diffuse, colorless, and prone to drift past its destination, in other words, it's wasted, most of it. If it gets there, and th at's hard to see on initial application, it does its job and lasts for a bit, but only a bit. It is also rather expensive, considering the amt. wasted . I will not buy again. Wish it had been a better product within in a more intelligent spray and mist container. There is no indicator, for example of where the spray is emitted. A little dab of color could easily accomplish that. And make application a darned sight more thrifty Nexcare No Sting Liquid Bandage Spray January 6, 2014 A quick & effective way of covering a minor wound when there os no time to do proper bandaging. Not a substitute for a proper bandage. Just so-so September 26, 2013 I have no idea what kind of pain tolerance a person must have to think of this as "painful"---anyway, it doesn't go on in one coat (so it wont last long)and you really do have to re-do it after every shower. Unless my scrape was too deep and long---but that is exactly what they say it is meant for? Works but is light duty. September 21, 2013 Doesn't sting or smell yet works for light duty cuts. New Skin is better for heavy cuts, I once stopped a deep glass cut on my leg with New Skin that this Nexcare is not thick enough to handle. Nexcare would be great for kids light cuts with New Skin as a backup for heaver cuts. |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% Not recommended for runners November 11, 2015 I opened up a small friction wound on top of the large toe "knuckle" on my foot while running. I tried New Skin in lieu of a regular bandage to help it stay covered/protected while I continued running. The New Skin peeled off after a couple of miles on the two runs where I tried it. The first time, no real harm - it just peeled off in one piece and the wound rubbed open again. The second time, which was a longer and faster run, the New Skin peeled off and caused additional cracking in the areas it was covering that weren't previously opened. In short, I'd recommend New Skin in areas that aren't exposed to any kind of friction or bending, but would not use it for knuckles on your hands or feet, nor is it adequate protection for small running-related wounds. I'd recommend using sport flexible/waterproof bandaids and old-fashioned bacitracin along with a foot cream to prevent additional cracking instead. It probably works pretty well for run-of-the-mill everyday cuts and scrapes, though as everyone else notes it smells like paint thinner and stings like heck! No pain - no gain January 20, 2014 I dont know what I had expected, but I just want to let you know that it stings like crazy when you apply this stuff 0.oI used it once, and now it's in the drawer ....I think I will just stick to good ol' band aid. does not breathe well September 8, 2010 recently used this product when my son fell and suffered a scrape on his forehead. i applied two coatings of the product to the wound and almost a weak later the wound has not formed a scab and appears to be quite raw yet. while the product is quite easy to use, i think the wound would have healed a lot faster if left open or covered with a simple bandaid. that said, if you plan to swim then it sure beats using a bandaid or leaving the wound open. Messy, smelly, and takes forever to dry -- but it WORKS! May 8, 2008 I bought this at my local drugstore b/c the Nexcare brand was missing. It does the job, but not very well. It SMELLS (like nailpolish) and takes at least 20min to dry. It doesn't really sting, but it is drippy and messy.I cut my finger while cutting an onion and the cut itself was fairly deep (I think?). The last time something similar happened, I went to the hospital, and I waited for a good while before the doctor applied Dermabond. So I figured I could go buy this product in lieu of a hospital trip...So far, it's holding, but b/c my wound hadn't stopped bleeding when I applied the adhesive there is some trapped blood between my skin and the adhesive. My wound looks flimsy, like it'll burst open any minute. It does the job, but not as adequately as I would like. It smells and it's messy (lacks viscosity), and it takes forever to dry. I hear Nexcare makes a better product (although the new version is purported to be less durable).**On a side note, since my wound is probably "deeper" than most scrapes or papercuts, I should have held the sides of the wound together when applying the product. I couldn't since it was still bleeding...which might explain increased drying time. | 4% Seems okay; really small portion for the money. January 7, 2017 Seems like a nice product. Unbelievably skimpy as far as number of applications for the money spent. This is a little bottle of specialized liquid. I feel that its price greatly outweighs its value due to the small portion you get in a single spray bottle of it. Not to impressed June 29, 2016 Doesn't really seem to do anything. Spray it on and the cut feels the same. Other liquid bandage makes a sealant over the cut. Good thing is it did not sting September 9, 2015 Shipping took a long time. Product wears off quickly, have to reapply several times on my hand in an hour. Good thing is it did not sting. Thanks for the extra .01 March 31, 2014 Just okay at doing its job. Makes a very thin coating, so additional coats are usually needed. Rather expensive too for the amount given. I wonder how they figured they would make the quantity .61 fl oz instead of simply .6. The .01 extra is probably the amount that cannot be extracted from the bottle. I prefer Gluture flexible super glue for tissue. Pretty useless... December 29, 2013 I usually use the brush-on liquid bandage, but I recently acquired 2 new kittens, which means lots of leg scratches and cuts. I figured this would be an easier to use version, but it's not. It's almost not even noticeable, and doesn't really seal anything (even light scratches bleed through it). |
One Star Reviews: | 12% Terrible and smelly! January 4, 2017 My husband gets many finger splits and cracks in the winter. We bought this stuff thinking it might be cheaper and more protective than regular bandages. When you open the bottle the smell of nail polish is OVERWHELMING! It was horrible. Then it also stung, even on the skin around the split. To make matters worse, you have to use MORE of it in order to take off what is already on your skin. Is that some marketing ploy to get you to use more? What the heck! We're going back to bandages. Not the same March 19, 2016 They must have changed their formula. I live on this during the winter. Just bought a new bottle and it is not as thick and does not do the job. | 8% Thumbs down August 23, 2016 Disappointed. After two short sprays the bottle is almost empty. Also does not have any pain control. I prefer dermoplast. This is fairly worthless now that I had to use ... November 8, 2015 This is fairly worthless now that I had to use it. I sprayed on maybe ten coats and it essentially did nothing. No coverage, and whatever touched the cut i could still feel through many coats of this junk. Half empty bottle and nozzle clogs. August 12, 2015 The bottle was half-full on arrival. I used it once and it did okay. The next time I tried to use it the sprayer was clogged and nothing I tried cleared it (hot water, etc). So my recommendation is DO NOT BUY. Leaves a sticky residue. June 19, 2014 This stuff really doesn't work very well, and it leaves a very sticky residue all over the place. Definitely not worth it, no sting or not. It just doesn't do the job. |
