sound AMAZING!
June 4, 2017
These speakers are freaking awesome!!! highly recommend
Fantastic!!!!!
November 24, 2015
Wow just amazing!! I am using these with my computer as daily speakers / light recording and mixing. These things are really impressive. Very clear sound without any sort of coloring. Be sure you set them up according to your room and setup!

-NOTE
I was scared that there was not going to be enough bass, and let me tell you there is plenty! Almost too much, but once you get them setup for your room correctly everything sounds perfect.
Everything I could have asked for
April 5, 2015
These speakers were everything I wanted out of a pair of home studio monitors. They have crystal clear sound, and are perfect in my workspace. I was debating between these and the 8's, and I'm glad I went with these because the 8's would've been GINORMOUS and way too much for what I needed them for (see attached picture; The screen is 19"). I tested the sound when I got them, and there is no crackling/wavering at all! The only thing I didn't like was they didn't come with cables to plug into your interface, but that was only an extra 20 bucks, and a trip to Guitar Center. These are perfect.
If There Is A Better Value For The Price I Haven't Found It.
January 16, 2015
I realize that these are not the latest in the series. Those are for people with larger budgets than mine. However, I have listened to studio monitors which cost about the same as these. I wouldn't trade these for any of them. I have not had a chance to hear the latest version of this series of monitors, but, assuming that significant improvements have been made to justify the greater price, they must be outstanding for a home studio. For now though, I am extremely happy with these. I just can't believe that it is possible to get a better value for your money.
I was immediately satisfied and productive after hooking these up to my DAW
November 21, 2013
I finally got around to buying mixing monitors for my home studio and it has made all the difference. What used to take days of fine tuning takes a single night.

As far as sound quality, they are great, but it's not about how pleasant they are, it's about how accurately they playback your mix. Many other speakers I've used have exaggerated highs and/or lows, designed primarily to make you think they have a wider range. I can't say for certain that they are "accurate" but what I can say is that after mixing my song with these, it finally played back on every device, including car stereos, without and harshness or muddiness. I know that if I remove the muddiness and harshness I hear on these monitors, it will be removed on others too without changing the overall sound.

These are built solid, very solid, and very heavy.

I was immediately satisfied after hooking these up to my output device. I use an old M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro as a 96KHz D/A converter for monitoring on these speakers and headphones. They are connected to the ch 1&2 TRS outputs via TRS-to-XLR cables. The only warning I can give is to make sure you power off the speakers before inserting/removing cables. It produces a very loud pop whenever you do.

Quick tip: You don't have to waste money on overpriced foam pads for these speakers. The foam blocks used in the packaging is already cut to fit your speaker and act as very effective vibration isolators. They are ugly as heck, being while plastic packaging foam, but I can attest to their excellent function.

Very nice.
August 31, 2017
They just arrived. I pulled them out of the box and connected them to my Crosley Solo with the supplied patch cord, and they sound excellent (bearing in mind the inherent limitations of speakers this size). The sound is very clear with good bass response--I think good treble is a given here. I'm listening to NPR right now, I'll crank 'em up with some rock 'n roll later on. Happy listening.
...dynamite little speakers...
February 19, 2017
Sound great! Look, you are not going to get perfect sound for $80 but these are dynamite little speakers for the money. I used them on my computer system to listen to music and play games. They are perfect size, have all the outputs and controls right in front (volume, treble, bass) and they sound great! No complaints.
They are not too large and put out amazing sound for the size
July 2, 2016
This pair of computer speakers was exactly what I was looking for. They are not too large and put out amazing sound for the size. I originally bought a set of Cyber Acoustics with sub for about $40. They had really good reviews, but I ended up sending them back as the satellites speakers sounded tinny and flat. The sound was simply just mediocre, at best. I live in an apartment complex and as soon as the Behringer speakers came, I tested them by turning the volume up to half at one point. I didn't turn it up any louder as I did not want to disturb my neighbors, but the volume will definitely be more than enough for virtually everyone unless you want to use them for a party - then you would want to add a sub-woofer - and they would be fine for that, too. I love the fact that they have volume, bass and treble controls right in front - makes it very easy to adjust quickly. The controls work just as well for any set of headphones you plug into the front of the speaker. If you want quality sound at an affordable price, I would say you would not be disappointed with these. I am glad I took a chance and bought them. Also, the picture with the speakers are inaccurate in one, small way. The picture for the speakers show an orange triangle on the front of the speaker grill. The speakers I received had a black triangle on each speaker grill. Everything else is exactly as shown in the photo.
I love them! but
January 14, 2016
So, have a 20year old pair of Roland MA-8s. I love them! but... after years of abuse, the non powered monitor popped. replaced it with an extra MS-30 monitor I had. These have gotten me to this point. then the Amp in the powered MA-8 started to go bad. Was sad to find out, the ROLAND discontinued the MA-8s. Discovered the Behringer MS16s, which are CLEARLY clones of the MA-8s! Been VERY happy with them. they sound pretty much the same as the ROLANDs and look nearly identical! We will see if they last as long as the ROLANDs did!
Sturdy, loud and versatile little speakers pack a punch - perfect for home use!
August 10, 2014
I had a pair of MS20's and I put a hole in one with a drill by accident. I like the MS16's because they have a mesh to protect the speaker itself from idiots like me. Anyway, because I was only using the MS20's for home use with my computer or TV- not in a real 'studio' setting - i did not notice a huge difference in quality of sound and though they aren't quite as loud as the MS20 model they so get loud enough for a party. I also appreciate that there are both 1/4, 1/8 stereo and RCA inputs... I have had a=my macbook, the TV and a microkorg all running into the MS16 at the same time. That extra 1/4 input is useful to plug + play your drum machine, samplers, synths - I dunno how guitars or vocals would sound but I'm sure that's also a possibility - if you just wanna play in your bedroom. With (almost) all the Behringer products I have purchased the MS16's have turned out to be another great deal for a reasonable price.
Beautiful sounding system
May 21, 2013
I wanted an amplified speaker system that I could hook up to the headphone jack of my itouch and MP3 player. My requirements were have the biggest amplified speaker in the smallest space possible made by a quality manufacturer. Behringer makes specialized equipment for musicians so I felt it was a good company although I never used any of their products. I am not a musician.Well this system sounds fantastic. My opinion is that it sounds better than the Bose wave radio which sounds great too. The 16 watts is a conservative rating. The speakers are very loud. I also wanted separate bass and treble controls and the MS16 has it. There also is an adjustable microphone input so you can sing along to your favorite music like karaoke if that is your thing. In addition you can mix two other inputs through the 1/8 inch input jack and RCA jacks in the back and there is a headphone jack in the front.I expect that these nice looking and sturdy amplified speakers will hold up in the long run and so far I am impressed.

These are great mid-range priced monitors
June 13, 2017
These are great mid-range priced monitors. I am not an audio expert, but the clarity and feel of these are amazing. Paired with a 10" sub, these outdo all the speakers I have owned, so far. I am quite pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to almost anybody. My only gripe is the "sleep mode" that I have been reading up on. It cuts audio output after a certain amount of time when not enough signal is transferred. I have came across this issue many times, even when listening to music! I guess my audio wasn't loud enough for it to detect it as an actual input. The only way to "pop" these speakers is to actually have something loud enough until it goes through. It has become annoying, especially at nights and when talking to friends over video/voice chats.

They're awesome. Delivery was several days early too! The only reason it's 4 stars is because I haven't had them long enough to give them a proper review but so far so good! :)
Exceeds expectations for the size and weight. Very good compromise.
January 25, 2015
Great clean sound. Fidelity is right on throughout the spectrum. Obviously the fidelity of the lows improves within a range of higher volume levels as you would expect - which is the THE issue in powered monitors IMO - usually have to be what I consider to be loud to truly hear what is going on with the lows. But it is better than I expected for the size and weight of these monitors.

Excellent for Home, Office or Small Studio
April 29, 2016
I purchased these speakers for my small home studio and they have served me well for over two years and counting, with have no complaints. The bass is full and rich without being overpowering, and the ability to adjust bass and treble parameters is convenient. When I purchased these, I hadn't expected to need or use the microphone input but found it rather useful for an event where I needed basic vocal amplification and this feature helped me out of a small bind and worked beautifully. While these speakers pack a punch with their crisp sound and considerable bass abilities, I would say they can get a bit crunchy at the very top of the volume, which for me is not a problem but if you're looking for something you can blast at full volume and full bass, these may not be for you. But for the size and price, these speakers are great for any digital setup, home entertainment system, or small home studio.
Surprised by the clarity and volume.
March 5, 2015
Surprised by the clarity and volume. I use these speakers for home recording and for streaming music from my iPhone through an AmazonBasics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver. My only complaint is that I wish these had a bit more fullness, but that's to be expected from speakers at this size and price point. I will most likely upgrade to the MS20's down the road, and move these speakers to my kitchen (I listen to a lot of music while I cook).
Great speakers! Great Price!
January 22, 2015
These are great for the money! If you have a high quality audio file you can really hear every detail. Vocals come through really clear and each instrument sounds like it has its own channel instead of muddling the sound trying to smash too much in at once. Obviously these speakers are not meant to blow you away, at about 16 watts, but they do kick hard enough to fill up a small apartment. The bass is not "beats" quality, but that's not a big deal with most of the melodic music i listen to. Also, there was a bit of feedback when you plug directly into a phone for music streaming. I'm guessing this is what everyone was saying in the other reviews, but if its at a party, you can hardly tell its there. Love Behringer and their products!
Good Product for a desktop
February 15, 2014
These are nice computer speakers and sound pretty good for desktop monitors. I wouldn't use them exclusively for all of your mixing tasks, any more than I would mix through headphones. But they're pretty well balanced and sound decent for the money. I subsequently purchased a set of Fostex desktop monitors, and I'd have to say they're far above the Behringers, but they also cost a lot more. So if you're on a budget, these are nice speakers for the money and will turn out an OK mix for you.
Behringer MS16 Active Personal Monitor System
April 20, 2013
Not bad for the price. As other reviews have mentioned the bass response isn't that good and it muddies up the midrange. The tweeters are a bit tinny at times as wel, we find ourselves re-adjusting the bass and treble for each song at times. But overall I suspect that the other speakers in this price range will be about the same. I may try a sub to see if it adds a little dimension to the sound, but we use these primarily for computer speakers, not doing professional mixing, gaming or Watching movies. After the full size speakers and CD quality we grew up with, most everything seems a little flat by comparison in the age of MP3's, and I suspect that its that way for a lot of audiofiles. I am still kind of searching and had already put too many hours into finding a good, inexpensive pair of speakers to listen to music at the house, these are better than average so I guess they will do for now. 3 1/2 stars.
Best performance vs price
June 21, 2011
After hearing many studio monitors demoed at guitar center (when I worked there), I knew that someday I'd HAVE to own a pair of monitors! The high volume and clarity really turned me on to speaker specification and design, I wished I could experience the same clean sound at home with my own content.I came across these speakers and noticed their similar design to a Roland product, I began searching for reviews and other data on these guys. These were in my price range and I went for it... I can't say that these Behringer MS-16 compare to the bigger and more fantastic monitors I've heard before, but they do stay bright and clear at high volumes - I don't think you can get a better set of powered speakers for the price.I had these hooked up to my friends Roland piano, and they sounded very good. I heard a little bit of distortion while he mashed away at some Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2, but we did have them at an enormous volume. I could say we were breaking them in :)These monitors have been hooked up to my computer most of the time, and have provided a very clean and comfortable sound for music, games and movies. I plan on making an adjustment though with the addition of a subwoofer in the future. Don't get me wrong these monitors do have full-range output, but a sub will be handy when listening to some audio types.I most recently played Beatmania through these guys and was absolutely thrilled by their performance! I can really appreciate the game and hear the instruments to play it well.I think these speakers are the best bang for your buck if you're looking for a set of powered speakers. If you're mastering an audio track you may do well with this set. My advice is to go get informed at a decent music store first, then find something that fits your style and budget.I really like my set!

Sound Good But Not Accurate...
April 23, 2016
Sound good seem well made & I'm sure will last.
Bought these based on recommendation from a formerly trusted on-line recording/mixing expert.
Heard these next to Yamaha HS series yesterday at a brick & mortar retailer... and I know the HSs are twice as much but I would just mix with headphones until you can afford the HSs.
If your monitors are accurate... then it's easier for you to understand how your music will translate to an iphone speaker, to a car, a high-end system. But if you can't hear detail that's is there while mixing: then you have no chance of knowing what to expect everywhere else. Just like people who mix on headphones usually get bass that WAY TOO LOUD on everything else. : )
They Sound Fantastic When They Work
January 1, 2016
So the one studio monitor that worked sounded great. It has much better quality than the old Logitech computer speakers and woofer that I used in the past. Every syllable spoken is so much clearer with these monitors. Wish I had known about these gems a long time ago. Now on to the monitor that did not work.

When I plugged in the monitors and flipped the switch to the on position to test them the KRK light did not come on. I went to the KRK troubleshooting website and tried all of the suggestions (checking voltage, checking fuse, etc.) and the monitor still did not work. I contacted Amazon for an exchange but unfortunately because the items have magnets in them, Amazon can only provide a refund or credit to my account. So after I received a credit to my account I ended up having to order another studio monitor to replace it. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks for audio from the right channel.

For the price these monitors are not bad. Plenty of power for most people.
Decent speakers.. bad monitors
February 9, 2016
These are decent speakers for the price, and will give a fairly flat response.. but I was underwhelmed by these. If you intend to use these for any sort of music production, I would avoid these.. The are very lacking in the bass and sub bass frequency range. I honestly thought they might have been broken when I received them they had so little bass. These will be great for everyday speakers, watching movies or playing games but as far as monitors go they are pretty weak.
WARNING ABOUT QUALITY CONTROL FOR INCLUDED CABLES!
April 28, 2015
Speakers sound fine for price and size. Unfortunately, QUALITY CONTROL SUCKS: the included ⅛" mini plug-to-stereo-RCA cable had some bit of solder or something else metallic shorting the ground to the center ring on the mini plug. This blew out my headphone jack AND Thunderbolt video on my Macbook Air with a big spark and POP when I plugged it in! I can see the spot on the plug where it shorted (metal has a hole where it vaporized), and there is a new HOLE just inside the edge of the Macbook jack. I know this had to come from the MS16 plug because I had just removed the cables from the wrapper and plugged them into the jack after having just removed the plug connecting my old speakers, and there were no foreign objects in the vicinity. I doubt Behringer or Amazon will pay for the repairs to my Macbook, nor do I wish to return speakers that are otherwise exactly what I was looking for. JUST A WARNING: CAREFULLY inspect the plugs for any problems before sticking them in your expensive computers! CRAPTACULAR!
Really good sound, but it's not as FULL as you may want. Also, minor ergonomic design flaw.
June 15, 2014
These have really good sound, but a sub is a must, if you want full-range sound. Not a huge problem for me, since the speakers are on my desk, next to my PC. The sound quality they provide is more than adequate. My real disappointment is the knobs. They are not easy to access. They are small, which is OK, but they are placed too close together (approx 5mm apart), and reaching for the volume sometimes requires a double-take. However, there is much more "fumbling" if you need to adjust the volume and you have your headphones plugged in. When using headphones, the volume control becomes sandwiched between the "treble" knob and the headphone cord's plug, which is equidistant on the other side of the volume knob. Now, reaching for the volume is a little like trying to remove a wooden block from a Jenga tower.
Just about acceptable
February 24, 2014
Can't comment on their capabilities as monitors, but I will say that for listening purposes, these speakers sound very heavy on the treble and light on the bass. Luckily, the tone controls are effective, and after turning the treble almost all the way down and the bass almost all the way up, they sound really good, with a rich and detailed sound that will bring out the qualities of your music. Unfortunately, there is some rattling from both speakers when you crank the volume up and a noticeable hiss when the music stops, so they loose two stars.
OK speakers but not for studio monitors
March 22, 2013
Good speakers for general use, but these are DEFINITELY not studio monitors. They emit a low hiss when they're not used, and after a few months of use, the hiss has gotten even louder. If you're looking to buy near field monitors, do yourself a favor and pay a little more to get a better set.I'm cutting my losses with these, and using them as the token "crappy reference speakers" vs the good pair I use for my real studio monitors.

Great Sound, But...
May 15, 2015
For $300 pair of speakers they should be easily compatible with a computer, and should include cables to connect your speakers. Seriously these speakers are over sensitive and I am experience ground loop and feedback from these speakers everytime I wiggle my mouse. I spent weeks researching how to resolve this issue with no luck. $300 people.... For a device that does one thing, make sound.... They are great speakers, but overly sensitive, and don't include any cables besides a power cable...
They take a long time to turn on.
January 26, 2015
Here's the deal with these speakers: They sound great when they're pushing out sound. Unfortunately it takes several seconds of putting sound into them before the internal power kicks on and actually allows the sound through. If you're on your own this annoyance might not be so bad, but for a professional editing in front of clients its really bad to have to wait up to 10 seconds for your speakers to start working.

I'd go with the Mackie MR5 mk3 - they are priced the same, they turn on instantly and they sound great.

Not really good at loud volumes
August 10, 2017
Not really good at loud volumes. My son is an amateur producer and the speakers can't handle high bass levels. Also, since he first started using them, one keeps going out.
i dont always write reviews, but when i do....
June 9, 2017
Im very upset with the product. this company should stick with making mixers. I owned 20$ pc speakers that sounded way better than these. if you know nothing about sound or your hearing is bad then gets these, other then that do yourself a favor and BUY THE MACKIE SPEAKERS... yeah the are a little more but its worth it trust me. ( i know alot about sound, i own my own karaoke business and been a musician for years ... sorry these just are not good,...
Sound Quality Is Not Up To Today's Standard
April 20, 2016
I've had some relatively cheap Altec Lansing speakers for a long time and though I'd update to something new. Turns out these speakers did not even touch the quality of my old speakers that are 10 years old and that I couldn't have paid more than $50 for at the time. If you're looking for a quality sound, look elsewhere. The bass is pretty weak and the sound is very flat. It just sounds like it is missing a large part of audible frequencies.

Sound is awful, tinney and anemic
December 14, 2014
These speakers do not sound good at all. I have small bluetooth speakers that sound better than theses. When I opened the box the speakers felt unusually light for "Monitor" speakers, unless when they say "Monitor" they mean these speakers go next to your computer Monitor, because they do not sound like Studio Monitors, not even close. Price is very reasonable, but the sound simply is lousy, tinny, and anemic. I'd say save up for a set of real monitor speakers if that is what you are after. Behringer should simply call these computer speakers.
poor quality amplifier
July 7, 2014
poor quality amplifier. there is a constant hiss no matter what you do its always coming through the speakers. At least if it was a emf issue you could open the cases and shield them better yourself, but apart from adding some capacitors to the circuit board yourself there isn't much one can do to get rid of the hiss. the only time you don't hear it is when your listening to sound louder then the hiss.

Auto-mute function is really irritating
August 2, 2017
They sound fine but the auto-mute function is really irritating. They go into sleep mode after 30 minutes and are supposed to wake up when you feed input into them, but sometimes I have to blast a signal into them to get them to wake up. I use them off and on all day and am constantly have to fiddle with levels on my mixer to get them going. This wastes way too much time. There is no way to turn the auto-mute function off. I would not buy these again.
Update Aug 16 2017--It is getting harder and harder to wake them up from auto mute. During a lesson with a student today I just could not get them going at all. Really unhappy with them.
ONLY A 30 RETURN POLICY.
March 25, 2017
I've never felt the need to write a review on amazon before. First of all, the item itself sounds wonderful. I have it connected to a DAW through Focusrite Scarlett and it's worked amazingly. Now that I've had it for 2 months, will crackle then make no noise unless it's manually shut off then back on. I turn them off after use, etc. There's no way to make them work again that I've found and the return policy is, OF COURSE, only 30 days. One of the biggest wastes of money I've spent.
What's all the fuss about? Boom Box sound quality.
January 17, 2017
I was stoked to finally be able to upgrade my speakers. Everyone has the rockets so naturally, I buy the rockets - I figured they MUST be good. First of all these get 1 star from me because they take a second to 'warm up' sometimes, they seem triggered to turn on by volume and it's really annoying in a situation where you're trying to make music. Apparently people are replacing fuses on these things all the time, and I don't have time for that. Secondly, as far as sound goes, they are overly bassy and muffled. I have never use a word so strongly on of my Amazon reviews, but these speakers are truly garbage.

They will hurt your mixing skills because they are not true reference speakers!
Sounds great when they work
June 24, 2016
You need the correct wires in order for them to work properly. They also keep going silent after a random amount of time. You have to toggle the sound on and off until they come back on. Sounds great when they work. E-mailed support for some help and they never replied.

Worse than cellphone speakers
October 26, 2016
I tried these in the kitchen to amplify my cell phone which I use to stream podcasts and music, this sounded hollow and tinny with music, and muffled and garbled on podcasts and talk radio. The sound was so distorted I literally couldn't make out words and speech coming through these speakers.
