Sound amazing w/FULL auditory depth, & deep bass w/remote
November 4, 2017
Im giving it a 5star cause such an easy hook up and sound spectacular. I love the remote which was another selling point for me. I can turn down the bass at night so i dont wake everyone up. Also it can turn down nice and low at night cause i need the sound/tv on to sleep. Well it helps me to fall asleep faster. The sound is amazing i get a FULL auditory depth w/deep bass from them. I already had purchased a connector adapter/converter plug for the TV. This is so i can plug a headphone style jack into it to get the sound from units. This converter makes the speakers usable. Get the piece if you want it for television use. If your using it for a computer then you dont need thee adapter. I really enjoy Amazon Prime Music,& other great apps and channels that are musical now because of the speakers. I had older computer speakers i was using for my television and not even use the tv speakers. So having these give me the body and fullness im looking for in my bedroom. It could be used for living room easy. But i think they are better for bedroom. These really enhance my lifestyle and enjoy these. Only down fall is the cables are pretty short, like 3ft. So not much wire so i had to figure out a way and kinda compromise on the placement of the speakers but now that i think about it, its really the only way i could set it up cause of the set up i have going in my room. Another is i thought the speakers themselves were like a plastic composite material but they are like the old skool paper speakers with paint. But if your an adult and responsible they wont get damaged. But it could be upgraded with longer wires and composite speakers. It still would give the body/bottom you need for that pumping bass. Im watching a Beatles doc. & it sound great even though their older stuff was all mono still sound great on these speakers. So 5stars for a remote controlled, sub-woofer that really kicks, great sound, being able to turn down very low and still hear it without it cutting out, no static, & totally enhancing my bedroom lifestyle, it has its own fridge too. This is for my movie nights, musical hunger, & to replace my old god awful speakers i had that was enjoyable to throw away knowing that i have arion speakers now. My life has changed! Yes its that dramatic for me.
Nice speakers, especially for the price
April 24, 2017
Nice speakers:Do they sound as good as the 4-foot tall monsters I have at home?-no. Do they have all the sound I could ask for on my desk at work?-yes. Had a bit of a trick getting 1 channel to work, would take off 1/2 star if I could for that- had to unplug & replug the RCA connector a few times, but once it came on, has stayed on. Some folks have knocked them for not having enough bass, they are fine for me at about 75% on the dial, but I am not a "bass-freak". Power is a lot more than anyone in a typical office would need, plenty loud to hear 2 or 3 rooms away. Better sound than (admittedly older) 5.1ch "1000W" DVD HTS I had on my desk until it wouldn't play nice with my new notebook that only has 1/8" mini output jacks. Instead of investing in a new sound card (or dragging the DAC I use at home back & forth) to use the old 5.1ch set, I went with these 2.1ch speakers instead, glad I did.
Great speakers at a low price.

I've been using Compaq speakers that were 11" tall for the past 10 years or so. I've used them with 2 or 3 desktop computers. Well, they finally bit the dust. After reading alot of reviews, looking at watts and other things, I picked these Arion speakers because I didn't want to spend more than $20. I plugged them in, and my favorite songs on YouTube sounded alot more clear. No more distortion, no more fading at higher volumes. These speakers can put out some volume. My wife was downstairs and remarked how clear she could hear the music while I was testing out the speakers. If you're into alot of bass, you need to get a 2.1 system with a subwoofer. If you're trying not to spend a lot, you'll be very happy with these. They look and sound great.
but these little speakers work great for what I bought them for
May 19, 2016
I am no techno wizard or anything, but these little speakers work great for what I bought them for. I got a Jenson combo tuner and turntable with built in speakers, but it has speaker jacks for better sound. I purchased this speaker system to go with it and viola! Huge sound for minimal expense and effort. They also do not take up much room. Got the tuner/turntable and these speakers to replace an ancient old stereo system with huge speakers and the end result is awesome sound for our old vinyls at a really shockingly inexpensive rate and a fraction of the space. Since I am not going to blather on about the technical specs, woofer this, midrange that (wtf?), let me just say, I am very happy with the big sound that comes out of these little speakers. The sound is clear and fills my whole huge family room. Just call me a satisfied customer.

I have bought many computer speakers throughout my life. Many. As a matter of fact I probably buy them just because I like electronics. I've purchased systems over $200 and some under $20. I must say that this one is perfect. I can confidently recommend this system as the best one under $50. I have already given this recommendation to many of my friends and each of them have thanked me repeatedly for the strong recommendation. My only con is that the system itself is a bit large and doesn't look the best... but they SOUND the best and they look like your normal speakers, so if you aren't looking for a beautiful system, then this one should be added to your cart immediately. Don't think. Just do it. And come back and up vote this review when you are as happy and delighted as I was.
Enhances movie night
September 21, 2015
I am not a big techie when it comes to electronics. All I wanted was a device that can make my movie nights more enjoyable. I have a 55" Vizio and although the sound is good I was hoping for more. After searching for quite some time I settled on this unit. I was skeptical because of the price, but I have now had it for over a year and I like it more each time. The sounds of explosions, voices and everything else really come to life with this unit. The only thing I don't like is that the unit must be turned on/off behind the tower. It can't be controlled by the remote. I just leave it on now. My only complaint is that if the volume is jacked really high the bass starts to break up. I tried it once though. I never listen at the kind of volume. Other than this I find this unit perfect for a cheap home theater system. You won't be dissapointed!

Crisp!!!!!!!!!!
November 7, 2016
Been listening to these for about 3 hours and I love them. Retired a set of Altec Lansing that lasted for 15 years or so and I hated having to do that. I deliberately ordered these because I did not want a separate 'sub'. The sound is just great - very 'clear'. They are playing 'Hooked on a Feeling' and the sound is 'crisp'. Spatial separation is very good. Words like 'clear', 'crisp', 'no coloration', and such come to mind. I really, really like these speakers.Hookup was a snap and the ability to switch the powered speaker to left or right channel was very smart as my computer setup here is opposite what Windows thinks should be left and right. These are keepers.
I am amazed....
September 23, 2016
What can I say about these speakers? For starters, THEY'RE AMAZING. Right after unboxing I was immediately impressed by the quality of these little speakers. They are made from sturdy wood and the finish is very nice. I bought these with the intention of using them in tandem with a projector to play movies or video games outside. Now I'm considering purchasing a second pair for my computer. I am a fan of the green accents since I have xboxes and I feel like they will tie in nicely with my gear since it provides a clean, sleek look without overdoing it. Sound quality is very impressive for such small speakers. The low end is, surprisingly, very noticeable and powerful and the high end is very light and clear like it should be. I especially like the option to switch which speaker is powered, aka left or right, so you can adjust based on your setup. The active speaker is noticeably heavier than the passive one, but for good reason that it houses the majority of the electrical components. I can't say enough about these. I'm absolutely amazed something so small can pack that much of a punch. The only gripe I have about these is that the dimensions listed on amazon are incorrect. When I bought them I thought they would be larger, but learned otherwise when I looked them up on youtube. They actually measure 8.2 x 5.5 x 6.2 inches. In my opinion great product for the money and would definitely buy again.
A+ from a musicians standpoint!
September 3, 2016
Just plugged them in and tied them into my existing setup of dual KRK Rokit 5's and M-Audio Fast Track sound mixer. They seriously compliment my setup and even though they are smaller than my KRK's they can keep up as far as quality. I did run them on their own as well and they sounded great. Good volume. Great look. Absolutely love the fact of how many connection types and chords that come with these. They do get a little fuzzy when the volume is cranked on very low bass notes but thats to by expected from 3" speakers. Loud and low are best from subwoofers. Overall i already adore these speakers. Every genre and every custom EQ setting i throw at them they sound great and preform exactly how i want them to. A+ In my books!
Best Speakers for the Price!!!
January 5, 2016
I recently bought an Audio Technica AT-LP60 turntable and needed some good powered speakers that wouldn't break the bank. WOW, did these ever fit the bill! They're light and compact, yet very powerful. I was blown away after hooking them up. I heard parts in songs I had not heard before on digital versions, and I believe these speakers had a good role in that. All things considered they have a surprisingly awesome range; it's all there: bass, mid, and hi ranges. Everything I needed to hook up the system indeed came in the box as promised. Are there better speakers out there? Sure. But if you're looking for powerful, cost effective, home entertainment bookshelf speakers, then look no further.
Mackie CR4 + Chromecast Audio = winner winner
December 21, 2015
I like listening to music, that's all. I'm no audiophile or musician, I just wanted speakers that could play music with great quality when I'm hanging out at home (mainly through Pandora, Spotify or Google Music). So my research began and obviously considered all the big name bluetooth and wifi speakers, such as Bose and Sonos. But then I remembered that Google came out with the Chromecast Audio that allows me to connect to any speaker through a headphone jack and cast music from any iOS, Android or computer device. So ultimately I could buy speakers that are better quality at a cheaper price, and so I began looking into the world of studio monitors which I hadn't considered before. My budget was $200 and luckily you can get some really great studio monitors for this price, such as these Mackie CR4's. They're the perfect size for my bookshelf, had amazing reviews (and rightly so), very easy to hook up, very very good quality sound and look fantastic. My wife was frustrated asking "Why do you even need these speakers when you have your (cheapo) bluetooth one????" but after I played her some music with the Mackies she just said, "oh...yeah these are nice".Overall quality wise, you get to hear all the nice details in the music with very good lows, mids and highs. Some people complained that the bass was not good enough, but I think it's perfect. There's certainly a lot of bass there and you will be surprised at how much you can get out of these guys. The clarity you get, even at low volumes, it simply astonishing. It's not that I've never listened to high end speakers before, but it's that I didn't think (even after reading all the reviews) that the quality would be THIS good.I would recommend these to anyone looking to get a set of quality monitors plus a Chromecast Audio if you want the wireless option. I would pick these over a Sonos 3 or 5 any day, unless I was doing the whole entire home wireless speaker thing, which I'm not.
Amazing
September 16, 2015
I very rarely ever leave reviews but I feel like in the case of the CR4 LTDs I need to, as the difference in audio hardware greatly will alter your listening experience.I ordered these speakers as an upgrade to my existing computer audio system, a 2.1 set of 15 year old Logitech gaming speakers. The new build included the Mackie's, along with the Schiit Magni/Modi Uber stack. The CR4 LTD's arrived two days before DAC/amp, so I had around 48 hours to experience what these speakers sound like both when plugged into my computer directly and using the Fiio E07K DAC/amp.The packaging was more than adequate, which is fortunate because Amazon shipped them in a box which was 3x larger than necessary. At this price point the construction of these speakers are punching well above their grade, leaving me nearly completely impressed. While it's completely cosmetic, there were a couple 'pixels' of space on the tweeters that didn't receive the black coating, which reveals a silver, reflective surface. It doesn't impact the performance of the speaker in any way, but it's distracting when I'm trying to admire them haha. The surface space they take up is very manageable; they don't feel excessively large. The speaker isolation pads they provide are a very nice touch.Reading the reviews for the CR4's (there was only one CR4 LTD review before I had made my purchase) gave me the expectation that the bass was lacking, so after plugging the speakers directly into my motherboard's audio port I was prepared for what I heard. The mids and highs sounded fantastic, but the lows felt fairly recessed. I had chalked it up the 4" speaker size, and that I would need a subwoofer to really experience the bass I was looking for. The next day I was able to test the speakers with the E07K and it brought clarity to the softer mids and highs. The bass still felt lacking, but it wasn't nearly as noticeable as before. Still at that point I was convinced I would need an independent subwoofer at some pointAfter having listened to these speakers with the Schiit stack, my thoughts on needing a subwoofer have gone out the window. The bass stepped up in such an incredible way that I can't believe these are the same speakers I was listening to yesterday. You're not going to feel the thump of a bass heavy song in your chest as you would with a dedicated subwoofer, but the sound landscape is so much more balanced with the higher quality DAC and amp. At low volumes the accuracy in sound reproduction stayed consistent, with no noticeable degradation between the lows, mids, and highs. For comparison I also had a pair of Sennhesier HD 598s to compare them to, and the sound coming out of the Mackie's was significantly cleaner. The difference in audio precision between the two was uncomfortably noticeable, as now I can't find many reasons why I would want to listen to the headphones over the speakers. If you're planning on purchasing these speakers to hook them directly into your computer without any additional audio equipment you'll absolutely notice an improvement in audio fidelity, however you're nearly doing yourself an injustice to not have an audio system that is capable of demonstrating what these speakers can do. If you already have an audio system capable of driving the Mackie's though, you're in for quite a treat, especially at this price point.

Good Gaming Computer Speakers!
April 13, 2017
If you're contemplating new speakers for your gaming computer, I'd steer you towards these.High end gets a 7/10. A little lacking unless cranked to a higher volume.Low end gets a 10/10. Very good. Not over powering. It passed the DOOM test with mild desk vibrations.---Combined with the broken low end/working high end speakers I already have = Great surround sound across the whole spectrum of sound!!Really liked that the speakers used a stereo cable and not a 3.5mm.Would have liked to have had this system replace the other one entirely, but whatcha gonna do. Personal preference is to have the control knob ON the speakers but puck style is the "new thing."
Best New $50 Speakers with Remote I've seen so far
March 5, 2017
Real Talk = Are these anywhere near the best speakers you've owned/will ever own? Heck no. Now that that's been said I can say this = for $50 to just get away from using my TV speakers as my PC Speakers this system is fantastic WITH a remote for $50. If you're looking to get away from the horrible/nonsensical set up (like using your HDTV speakers as your PC speakers) or for having a remote for as cheap as possible you won't go wrong with these. They make me smile. I'd recommend.
Good Sound. Some other issues but don't take away from the sound
August 25, 2016
Well, I am keen to write this review. Why? I like the company, I like what they have done with these medium sized speakers and subwoofer. Ironically, I like them for some reasons that might make others frustrated.First of all, the sound is great. I would probably get a pair of Altec Lansing VS 2621s to compare, the price is almost the same. So no issues there. It is better than what you would expect from speakers of this size and cost. Clear mid, ok high, and very solid bass. The bass is certainly a strong point.I got one set, there was a crackle on the left speaker. Customer service was great, sent me a shipping label to send it back. So far, so good. Then the replacement got stuck in UPS. Disappeared. So they sent me another one after refunding me for the first one. Then again, the replacement disappeared, so now we were in touch with Amazon again. So finally, a third order arrived. Here's the funny thing: the first speakers did not have a notch on the volume and bass control knobs. The ones I finally received as a replacement, or as my third order, had notches. The sum total of what I am saying is that this is a company that seems to be making good speakers, and has responsive customer service, but they are probably still working out the supply chain and consistency in manufacturing. Worth giving them a try, if something is wrong at least you can take it from me that they will do their best to fix it.
Good bang for the buck; loud and clear for computer speakers.
January 12, 2016
Like many of the other reviews my speakers came with some issues. Purely cosmetic; the black vinyl covering at the bottom of the speaker is pealing off on one of the speakers (right out of the box) and the other has some residual glue on the vinyl. I could fix this on my own but it is clearly a sign of a lax QA process as both speakers had the "passed" sticker on the back of them. Other than that they look nice and work quite well for the price. They are loud and clear but the sound is a bit on the tinny side. Although for the price they sound is pretty darn good. The treble and bass adjustments both seem to have an EQ effect on multiple band-widths other than just treble and bass. for example, when I roll the treble back it seems to increase bass as well as decrease treble response. When I roll the bass back it increases treble and decreases bass. You'll have to hear it to know what I'm talking about. It's not a bad thing, just different. I'm pretty impressed with the bass response but fee that the tweeters could be of a better quality. (not sure if it's the cross over or the tweeters, but this is where the tinnieness comes in. I'll be comparing them to the Cerwin Vega 3" speakers tonight to see how they fare.
Awesome speakers
December 9, 2014
I love these speakers. They only cost like $60 bucks. If you buy speakers from Creative or other reputable companies, you can easily pay $150. They aren't the best speakers, but they give you good base and decent sound volume. The way to make these into your home speakers is to attach a Logitech Bluetooth adapter to it. Then having your computer Bluetooth capable and your tablet pc Bluetooth capable, and your Ipod Touch Bluetooth capable, you can play all your devices wirelessly unto this speaker. Imagine watching your movie on your tablet pc, but experiencing (while in bed) full base and full sound on this set of speakers, it's amazing. It's like watching a movie set on your bed! Or if your prefer, you can watch on your ipod touch while in bed and have theatre sound while you're sleeping! At $60, this doesn't break your bank. And to boot, you have one set of speakers, wirelessly, for 3 different devices. How awesome is that? And this speaker rocks! It won't be that $500-$600 speaker quality sound you're looking for, but for the sound you get, it's totally worth it. I really love these speakers, they really impressed me a lot. You don't have to buy 3 different speakers, just buy this one and connect it via Bluetooth to all your Bluetooth enabled devices. If you want, play your audiobooks on it too or music, not just videos, with full base. I think it's totally awesome!*****************************************************************update: I just lowered the rating to 4 stars because my speakers just died for no reason. I had these speakers for 5 months but now they dead, don't know why. Maybe I have to restart them, I don't know. I don't know much about speakers so I don't know what the problem is. I connected the speakers to my ipod touch headphone jack to test it out but no sound came out. So I don't know why they don't work anymore. Maybe they aren't as solid as I had thought they were. If they work again, I will try to update, but so far they don't. It could be I turned on and off the surge protector it was attached to rapidly on and off (by accident), perhaps that caused something to fail, like a fuse. I'm not sure. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. I'm scratching my head at this.
Great For The Price
September 21, 2014
I received mine in 2 days with free shipping. For the price, they're pretty good. The subwoofer has a deep rich tone and the unit gives my TV a great surround sound. It comes with cables for an auxiliary Cd device but if you're hooking it up to your TV using RCA type cables you will need to buy them it doesn't come with them. These will need to be connected into the aux ports on the subwoofer. The speakers come with the cables which by the way aren't very long. I didn't have any sound out ports on my Samsung TV so I spliced the wires in through the sound system of the TV and everything works just fine. For some strange reason, the mute, aux and CD indicators are all lit up at the same time. I don't know what that's all about. I would assume only one at a time would be lit up indicating what function is on at the present time. All in all, I have to say it looks good, sounds good and is price competitive. If I have any problems with it I'll post again to let you know.

Good sound
April 6, 2017
The sound quality seems quite good. One thing I don"t like is that they don't turn themselves off and they get warm when you leave them on which means they are wasting power and anything that gets warm when not in use makes me nervous that it might cause a fire. They ought to SHUT THEMSELVES OFF after say 15 minutes of non use. I have to remember to turn them off myself.
pretty good
March 23, 2017
These speakers sound pretty good despite their small size. They come with all of the cables you need and 2 sets of foam platforms, one flat and one tilted. There are convenience jacks on the front of one of the speakers, one for an aux input and the other for headphones. I would have given these speakers 5 stars but the headphone jack reduces sound quality greatly so I end up having to unplug the speakers from my computer and then plug the headphones into the computer directly which kind of defeats the purpose of the convenience jack on the speaker.
These little speakers sound way better than expected
December 13, 2016
These little speakers sound way better than expected. I hadn't thought I would like these as much as I do. They are very convenient and easy to use. The L/R toggle is great if you are like me and end up moving my computer station around a lot. The ability to use both a 1/4 patch cord connection and/or the AUX is also a nice feature if you "pass the aux" with friends or switch computers often. I'm able to use these guys for light mixing on music (though I wouldn't trust these alone). Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Great for anyone on a budget or for those just looking to play music and watch movies. If you are looking for legitimate studio monitors these aren't the way to go. But if you are looking for a cheaper set of speakers to compliment your Monitors I would recommend these. 4.5/5
Great for highs and mids. Lacks good base.
December 6, 2016
I got these speakers because my previous 2.5 computer speakers stopped working. I produce music as a hobby and decided to upgrade to monitors and settled on these due to the price for the pair. I connected them to my computer via a second generation Scarlett solo USB interface and the highs and mids were amazing. They did a good job of highlighting the parts of my songs that needed work. However I like my songs base heavy and these speakers just could not deliver in that regard. I wanted to give these speakers 3 stars due to the lack of base but the speakers are pretty great otherwise, good for gaming and tv/movies. If you are a person that likes to feel the base in your body then these speakers aren't for you. Im returning these for the Mackie MR mk3 Series MR5mk3. For people who really like base 5inch monitors are the minimum size you should get.
I'm happy.
March 11, 2016
I recently bought a turntable and needed some powered speakers to go with it as I didn't want to go the whole amp/receiver route. The price point on these made it a relatively easy decision. I figured for $150, worse case, I'd just relegate these to computer speakers. That said, they didn't disappoint at all! They're great sounding speakers! The bass is surprisingly good fro 4" woofers. I may add a subwoofer someday, but for now I'm quite happy with the sound. Also plenty loud to fill a large living room even full of people. My ONLY complaint with these speakers is the green circles around the cones! While it's a nice green, it's a really bright color and unless you have a green decor thing going already, these tend to stick out visually much more than I'd like. I may try to eventually try to paint them black. (I think Mackie could make a few extra buck by making these rings removable and selling different colored replacements!)
A great deal for the price.
March 11, 2016
These speakers are amazing. I wouldn't necessarily call them monitors though, but they do a fine job for some one who messes with amateur production like my self. The Mackie CR4's are loud as all get out though. Paired with my s***ty audio interface, these two four inch speakers bang. While the bass coming from these guys isn't really banging, it is still full and sounds superb.

Top sound for a budget product but don't buy for longevity.
September 25, 2017
Arion Legacy Studio Quality 2.0 Speakers with 5 Inch Subwoofer, 1 Inch Tweeter, and Trapezoid Wooden Cabinets - AC Powered 80W RMS (AR604) Purchased 5/2015 for $100, time of death: 9/24/2017. Initially had a speaker go bad with the tweeter going out, but it was early after buying, so it was all replaced by Arion. That was good, but it was so early, I would expect so. Good service though. Later they developed an interference, light buzzing sound. Customer service at Arion couldn't swap them out due to it being over a year later, but they did give me advice on things to check. Per suggestion, I was getting interference from my wifi router that I'd recently moved just a bit too close. I swapped the speakers left and right, reversed the input cables to maintain proper stereo and it was fine after that. That's not on Arion, although it's odd that they would pick that up. Shielding would be nice, but then these aren't necessarily pc speakers. Now I have a horribly loud buzzing that seems to be the transformer on the inside failing. I can't find the part.I bought these for a 2nd time. Why, when they've failed would I do that? The price has dropped to $60. At $100 they sounded better than anything else under the original $200 MSRP. At $60, if they last 2 years, it's tolerable. I'll hang onto the old ones as parts just in case. Also, I don't care for running wires all over the place to accommodate a subwoofer. These are just great sounding stereo speakers, and have the range of sound that beats any 2.1 system anywhere short of $200 that I've heard. My Logitech Z-5500 beats them out by far, and is still kicking after 11 years, I might add, but right now, I'd rather pay $60 every so often than pay big bucks. I also split my time with some headphones (Logi G933) so the speakers aren't required full time. Presumably that will preserve them some.Would I recommend them? If you want a great sounding speaker that you want to count on for years to come, then no. If you want excellent sound but don't have the budget to spend $200+ to buy something more proven, and are ok with the risk, then sure. Obviously I feel that way since I'll be on my 2nd set--due to the $40 price drop. I wouldn't have if the cost was higher. If it goes badly, I'll be sure to update.Adding a picture of the transformer that I believe is what has killed my current set, just for posterity.
Settings Lost When Turned Off
August 8, 2016
I'm completely satisfied with the sound quality at the price. The remote control is a nice convenience because I often listen to Pandora at some distance from the speakers. The three stars are due to a most unfortunate characteristic: the unit loses its settings between power cycles. Every time I turn it on, it's necessary to raise the volume from the minimum setting. The seller acknowledges this as an oft-reported problem. With the remote, adjusting the settings is not hard to do. However, the remote is a membrane-switch item with an unknown life. If and when it breaks, I'll be in trouble. There are the same buttons on the front of the subwoofer, but the subwoofer is on the floor.
Choose something else...
January 18, 2016
First, there is too much mid-range in the sound and no way to adjust it (only treble and bass). The volume is okay, loud enough, but nothing like I was hoping. The speakers, as you can see, are exposed so it's easy to dent them. The controller buttons are difficult to push and my controller has stopped working correctly. Increasing the treble, for instance, lowers the volume. Also, the television controller I have (a Samsung model) must be on the same frequency as the speaker controllers because one controller is always trying to mess with the other item. There's no way to adjust this. I bought these for my son's TV because I wanted speakers with a remote. He has muscular dystrophy and I wanted him to be able to change the volume with a remote (he's in a power wheelchair). The buttons on the remote are too hard to push for him. I have to push pretty hard to work them myself . . . which is beside the point now because the controller buttons don't work right anyway! Bottom line, these speakers do work but they don't sound the best and the remote may quit on you...I would advise something better even if it costs a little more.
Remote control receives ALL commands from ALL remotes.
November 7, 2015
If you're going to use it in a room with any other remote control, don't. Whatever remote control chip they're using it basically will take ANY signal from ANY remote and repeat the last volume command from it's remote.Example:Say it's hooked up to your tv, and you raise the volume with it's remote, then scroll through the channels on your tv, when you land, the volume will be much higher like you kept holding the volume up button. Or vice versa if you initially pressed volume down, if you scroll through a bunch of channels, or fast forward on your dvr, when you stop, it will have taken that remote signal and repeat the last command sent to it with it's remote.I guess it would work ok for a desktop computer setup, so long as you don't use any other remotes in the same room.On the plus side, if you lose the remote, pretty much any other remote should be able to interact with it in some way.
great sound but the cords are not at all durable
April 10, 2015
Brought these and when they arrived realized the headphone plug was loose; me being a music lover i had decided to buy these because i usually buy cyber acoustics but my nephews now enjoyed pushing in the bass air bubble which damaged the speakers. So in general i was looking for a more durable speaker. So i listened to the quality and these are awesome but because of the loose headphone plug it broke after two days of use i noticed the whole cord is flimsy to begin with also i heard the humming that others referred to if the speakers were not in use, and you left them on, they hummed, which i didn't see as a problem i just shut it off. These speakers are awesome but unfortunately i wont buy again because of the simple fact i need a more durable input plug.
Good Concept, Poorly Executed
April 3, 2015
Had no problem with the subwoofer other than the awful rattling from the plastic buttons when turning bass settings up rather than just muddying the base though, it does preserve it's tightness.. The two studio monitors worked fine until I noticed the plastic circle each one had pasted on. It literally crumples inward if applied pressure on and one of the speakers already came with it dented. When I examined the other to see what the deal was, that one too crumpled under force. Also, the crumpling of the plastic inserts has inserted random cracks or pops to be heard on sharp drum hits in my music.Tl;Dr Save your $50 and add another to get better studio monitors as these have been underwhelming but I will have to make do with them.

Distortion on Bass
September 18, 2016
Distortion from bass of the Limited Edition CR4 after only a little more than a month of use. I filed a claim with Mackie as they should still be under warranty. I will update later but in the mean time, only 1 star.Update: Mackie was fairly unhelpful/not useful. Amazon was very helpful. After contacting Mackie, they said they could not help me at all because mine set was the Limited Edition CR4. After contacting after Amazon, they were able to get a replacement order shipped very quickly.3 stars for for the speakers, 1 star for Mackie customer service, and 5 stars for Amazon customer service.
Worked great while they worked
August 25, 2016
I've had these speakers for about 9 months now, and they've been great. Recently the powered speaker started sounding a little bit muddy, but that has progressed to an awful buzz. It sounds blown out, but I never pushed these speakers too loud or anything. They were definitely great while they lasted though :/
Great Studio Monitors with one major flaw.
April 22, 2016
These studio monitors work great, except for the fact that they overheat and stop working for 30 minutes, when the weather gets warmer. I rma the first set thinking it was a defect, because the monitors will work for 1/2 a second when turning them off, the light on the front stay on, just no sound but sometimes it came on and off. Now 5 months into the second pair same thing is happening. So it's obvious a quality problem with the build in amp not being able to cool down enough. The audio quality is awesome very clear reproduction, so instead of treating them like computer speakers and leaving them on, turning them off when not used to cool down the buildin amp, makes them still usable.4/28/16 Update: My replacement set is now having the same problem as the first, it's been 2 months since receiving these replacement. This one is only staying on for 15 minutes before the sound starts to cut off. The internal amp is definitely blown again, I leave the monitors on 24/7 which the manual doesn't say it's outside of the normal use. Mackie customer support has been very helpful with RMA this set as well, but they have warned me that the warranty doesn't refresh and is based on the first pair I bought.Although my experience with these monitors hasn't been great with the amp blowing again, so the quality of the internal amp definitely needs to be improved, but I still can not deny the sound quality produced by these Mackies. Sticking with 3 stars, and hopefully these 3rd pair will last me at least 2 years past the end of the warranty.
Great sound, but an annoying rattle
August 17, 2015
Upon first getting these speakers, I loved the clarity of the speakers, where the highs and mids are crisp, even though the bass was a little lacking. I got a sub to supplement this problem, and the overall sound output is great for most songs. I had to replace the first pair because I noticed a hum coming from the main powered speaker, from anywhere to it's cutoff point of around 55 hz to around 105 hz, making songs with mainly bass and no higher register to overpower the sound of the hum a pain to listen to. Thanks to Amazon I received a replacement pair when I returned the old speakers, and when I got my speakers enjoyed the sound initially like on my last pair, but when listening to the speakers at a moderately high volume (but still not enough that the speakers shouldn't be able to handle) I still hear that familiar rattle coming from the main powered speaker once again, less than last time but still there on big bass pops or muffled bass. I'm going to keep listening to these for a little more too see if the rattle gets worse like with my first pair of Mackies. The volume I usually listen to is just a little less than 12 o'clock on the speakers as well
Not suitable for professional use (be careful)
August 11, 2015
Pros:- Excellent sound quality and features for the priceCons:- Stopped working after about 5 monthsMisc Notes:- I have never run these at full (output) volume and they failed after regular use. However, after looking at other "real" studio monitors for professional use, I noticed that every one of them have an input attenuation switch. This is because professional setups can pump very high levels of input to the monitors and having this option prevents input overload, which I suspect happened to my pair.- Given my usage, I'd probably consider these as very high end general listening speakers- They sound great (when working)// EDITSo I left them unplugged for 24 hours and it works again, though the treble doesn't seem as "crisp" as before.

Ok for the money but wouldn't buy them again.
June 10, 2016
The mid and high sounds are clear but I would expect this speaker sound to put out better sounding lows for the size of the sub. I use it on my desk and hoped that it would really deliver great sound all the way around. Since it is in my home office I will continue to order them but for the price of the speakers, next time I will try something else. Another downside is the length of the speaker cords, I cannot stretch them further than to each side of my monitor stand that holds two 22" monitors. The speakers should be able to go further apart.
Disappointing speaker sound, good bass. Confusing and annoying display.
May 25, 2016
I'm using these speakers on a Panasonic 50" Plasma TV that has analog RCA output jacks. The speakers are OK, but don't provide much better sound than the built-in speakers on the TV. Not very rich or pleasing. In that regard, the Arion L-R speakers are very disappointing. However, the Arion subwoofer does provide much better bass output than the TV speakers. It can boom the base. The setup of the speakers was easy. The display on the the LED screen of the subwoofer is very confusing and annoying. For my setup, it was very important to see the volume level because I am trying to use the speakers for the main sound from the TV, with the TV speakers "off". Using the remote that was supplied with the AR508, I can control the volume level, but despite all the flashing lights on the display, none of the icons shows the volume level. There are also adjustments on the remote for the bass and treble settings, but these do not have indicators, either, so you have no idea where either are set when you push the +/- buttons on the remote. The display does indicate that it is receiving a signal from the remote by flashing an icon, you don't know where you are. This is a poorly designed system. If you're going to provide an LED with so many lights and flashing icons, one of them should be the level of the knob you are adjusting.Overall, I would have been better off buying a sound bar for the TV. I thought I could take advantage of the fact that my TV has analog outputs (newer TV's do not) and use a cost effective speaker system to improve the sound. This isn't it.
consider your needs b4 purchasing. Seller gets an 11 for customer service.

See below for my original review, but the most important thing here is the stand up customer service which I received from Eagle Tech. They noticed this negative review and of their own accord sent me an RMA and a pre-paid shipping label to return the item. I am still disappointed with THIS product, but I will ALWAYS purchase from Eagle Tech, if they carry what I'm looking for after seeing how well they treat their customers. Thank you guys, Thank you for being just plain AWESOME!now for my critique of the product which has been slightly reworded to be more cordial now that I see how great these guys are:bass is awful. low mids are seriously boomy and the subwoofer cannot be disabled.Although this has a digital display, it is nothing more than a glorified thump-meter for those who like bass-y music. It does not display the current vol setting nor treble nor eq. Don't be fooled by the pic, it's not as fancy as it looks. the only way to get a flat eq is the "reset" button which also resets the vol to some unknown value (3/12 or sth like that)(here this is unmodified: I truly intended to just keep them and then discard them when I could buy better ones, but again these guys at Eagle Tech are AWESOME)they were cheap enough that I'll not return them and just use them until i have some $ for better ones, but I would not recommend these at all. I regret not going with another item which did not have a remote. If you are considering this because it has a remote and your other option does not, then I'll tell u right now: don't make the same mistake I did. Buy the other one.new:if you like rap or other similar music and are just looking for a nice loud speaker that delivers a hefty thump, consider them indeed. but for instance watching Game Of Thrones, or other shows that have high bass/low mids in the bg music, those tones just turn into an obnoxious droning hummmmmmmm and drown out the voices big time.
Arion Legacy AR508LR-BK 2.1 Channel Speaker System with Subwoofer & Remote for MP3, CD, PC, Video Game Consoles, & Home Audio Sy
April 1, 2016
I ordered this after scrutinizing the other reviews for tis product. Most everybody said the sound was very good and it couldn't be beat for the price. When I first hooked it up I was excited, but soon turned to disappointment. Don't get me wrong, it sounds really good, but the loudness was simply not what I expected for 140 watts. I have computer speaker systems that blow this away, and I spent less than $80. When I hooked this up to my TV, the remote for my TV controlled the stereo with every push of every button, making the speakers go crazy loud or quiet. It simply is not compatible nor tolerable. When properly adjusted, it made my TV sound great, just not loud. Also the only way to turn the unit off, is the power switch located on the back, (which you have to feel for it), and that is very inconvenient. I will probably keep it and hook it up in my workshop, with a MP3 player. There are better options out there for the money.
Sub woofer hums & buzzes on power up
December 23, 2015
Sub woofer has an annoying hum on power up.The hum does not go away no matter what you do,It's flaw in the sub woofer.Wired remote is nice and functions OK.Contemplating on returning this system.Fit and finish is decent, but the hum makes this a regrettable 2 star purchase.Actual unit is a 1 star, added 1 star for the remote and appearance.Every time I go cheap on buying, this seems to happen.Would NOT recommend to a friend, or anyone who reads this review.
Returned; 1 speaker defective, will update soon.
January 6, 2015
I had to return to Amazon, 1 speaker was defective. However they show much promise, the one that worked sounded good. I'll update review when new pair arrives. The new pair arrived promptly, Amazon was great to deal with. The new pair of speakers seem to be differently configured than 1st pair, the controls work like I think they should work. Whereas the tone controls increase as you tun them up, the first pair cut the signal when turning the knob. Now to the sound of the speakers, I'll only give a qualitative review as I don't have any way to test actual response with a tone system. Let's just say they sound very good at all volumes. I don't hear any distortion at any volume that I tried and they go quite loud. They can be used for any type of device that has RCA plugs(2 holes)or a 3.5mm plug (1 hole, ipod's,pc's lap tops etc.).These are a giant step up from typical pc or TV speakers. If you're willing to risk ordering Chinese product and maybe having to swap for a new pair these are worth a lot more than the 100 dollar price tag. They go very loud, louder than I can stand up close and work great on my new TV. New rating 4.5 stars.

Sounded good but barely functional after a year and half
November 13, 2017
I purchased these as computer speakers for my desk at work, back in January of 2016. I work in an office, where I can't get too loud, so it's not like I was working them hard. I even turned them off every night when leaving the office, so they had a really soft life. At low volumes, I found that they performed very well at providing great sound up close, while still being effectively inaudible to my coworkers. So for my needs, they worked perfect. Then, one day back in June, I noticed that the left hand speaker had no sound. I checked wiring, everything was hooked up, I swapped the R and L RCA inputs at the back of the speaker and the problem stayed with the speaker, so the cable was fine. Then I touched the speaker position selection switch on the back of the RH speaker and suddenly the sound came back. It was clear the selector switch had gone bad. With time, I found that the LH speaker would fall out more and more frequently. wiggling the switch, I could usually get it to come back for a while, but eventually that stopped working too. I was able to flip the switch, so that the channels were reversed and got them to work again for yet a little while longer, but now after 4 more months of trying to finesse it, it's next to impossible to get it playing both channels at the same time. The speakers only carry a 1 year warranty, so I wasn't getting any help from the manufacturer. I was hoping that the switch might be serviceable, but after taking the cover off the back of speaker to look, I found that they glue over all of the components on the board, to ensure that you can't fix anything on these speakers. So instead of being able to continue enjoying the speakers, I'm going to give someone, other than Mackie, my money to replace them. There really is no reason these speakers should have started breaking down so quickly.
Stopped working after 2 years
September 25, 2017
I purchased these in 2015 and they worked fine until a few weeks ago. They will now only emit a buzzing noise and no audio will pass through. I contacted customer support and was told there was nothing they could do since they were beyond the one year limited warranty. All of that is fine, but I have never had speakers completely quit on me before. I have 20 year old cheap speakers that will still play sound. The fact that these will not work at all after only 2 years means I cannot recommend these or Mackie for that matter. I would have hoped they would have at least offered me a discount on some new ones to keep as a customer. As a result, I will never purchase Mackie again. They are better options with companies that will take care of their customers.
Static on occasion after 4 months, but otherwise great speakers.
September 8, 2017
These speakers are great, especially at around 80 bucks, but on occasion my right speaker will have this hissing sound that is decently loud, it sounds almost like static, but less aggressive. It only comes around now and then, but it started around 4 months into my owning these speakers, so I can't really turn my eyes away from the issue. I don't know if that's due to back quality control or bad luck on my end, but it's enough of a problem that I unfortunately feel the need to drop my otherwise 5 star review down to 2 stars.

I like the Audioengine A2+ way better
August 28, 2016
I bought these speakers for at work. When I do a lot of computer work, or programming or so I like to listen to music. I hooked it up via my FiiO E10K USB DAC. It did not sound all that great, so maybe the speakers needed breaking in. Well it did not really improve. I gave these speakers who seems to be quite content with it. I then bought the Audioengine A2+. Wow that is so much more enjoyable. For my picky ears the Macky did not do it.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR FROM THIS COMPANY!
July 30, 2017
We have had these speakers for 6 months. A part inside one of them cracked. This should last longer than six months. Now I get to fight through their warranty process.Update: For 6 month old speakers, we will be refunded a prorated amount, meaning, if I jump through their hoops, I may get $35 back. Their warranty person does not seem to understand that an internal component cracked and he/she keeps asking me for pics of damaged cables as well as pics that I have already sent.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE THE WORST!
Constant problems with single speaker playback.
July 18, 2016
Honestly, it took me a long time to come about writing this review. I bought these speakers because I had a feeling my last ones had died on me. My previous speakers had one of their sides not playing any audio. So I got these and, lo and behold, sound only comes out of one speaker. "Must be my sound card" I reasoned and bought an external USB sound card to test this idea.As it turns out, it wasn't the sound card. These speakers were delivered to me with only a single one actually functioning properly. I'd return or replace them but most businesses have a bulls*** rule about not being able to return anything that's already been used or opened so I wasted my money for a pair of speakers that only playback through the right side. I can't reccomend buying these if this kind of thing happens ever. Lacking one side of sound is one of the most annoying problems to have with a set of speakers.
Picking up radio station, massive feedback, and floor pegs coming out.
February 28, 2016
So here's the thing. Got these speakers and the bottom pegs came out. not a huge deal. The radio station it kept picking up was though. They were rendered unusable because of the buzzing and nearby rock songs that they were playing. Couldn't do anything about it. I did buy some different speakers and no radio station was picked up. So... Pretty unimpressed. They did sound good otherwise.

August 20, 2015
These speakers seem to suck. Hook them up to several different computers - all the same reaction. Vocals sound like they're coming from another room - way in the background. I'm running Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 on various computer systems. I've checked all my sound configs - nothing seems to be amiss. And YES, smart alecs - They're plugged in, and they're plugged into the proper jacks. Don't have any idea what I'm doing incorrectly, if anything. Guess I'll give them away, not worth selling as they only cost around $50. Bad purchase on my part. Those reviewers that raved about these things - more power to ya dudes. Didn't work as advertised for moi!

September 8, 2014
In the last 3 weeks Amazon has sent me 2 sets and BOTH have gone back. The first set worked great for a few weeks then all of the sudden this horrible buzzing coming out of one speaker. Also within days the blue display on the amp/bass faded almost completely out. Remote never worked.Second set came and the sound was great and no buzzing but the amp/bass display didn't work. The color was there but no bars to signal if you were turning the volume up or not. Remote never worked. Highlight to this set was when we had no radio on and all the sudden at 3am huge banging started coming from the speaker. We thought there was a gun firing. We unplugged them and sent them back as well.DO NOT BUY THESE SPEAKERS. 120 Watt.
First set died.. second set they died too!
October 29, 2013
Back to one star.. three out of three units are dead. The longest they've run in total was over a year.Updated once again to two stars.. only for Amazon Customer Support issuing a full refund once the dead speakers were returned. The Manufacturer Customer Support reached out to me and offered a full refund which I have to acknowledge is a very decent thing to do considering the product was past it's short warranty period. Safe to say I'll be steering clear of this brand until they can get quality control in order. I'd pay more for a product that'll work. Like I said originally I liked the product.. hard to keep liking when it ends up being a paper weight.Updated my review to one star. Two out of the three of these I've purchased are dead. This one of course had a 60 day warranty?! Of course I'm outside that warranty now and guess what's taken a noise dive like the other unit! Now I've another set of dead speakers the manufacturer isn't supporting or replacing. I'd strongly recommend spending more and getting something that actually works. Of course once I talked to Amazon they were good enough to allow me to return them. I'll just spend more on a better quality set of speakers next time.Original Review:I'm unsure about this brand now. First set died an early death. To be fair Amazon had a new set out in the mail almost right away. The second set seem to be good so far but I'm concerned as there are a number of reviews out there complaining these things die early. This has of course prevented me from buying another set. I do like the remote, the sound is full and clear, connected to a LED TV without issue. Appears to be a good product but final judgement will have to be reserved to see how well these things last.

Good sound and features for the money but after 10 months the R speaker blew up. I'm awaiting customer service to reply but be wary of this before buying them. I was actually pretty happy before this happened. Bluetooth in the speakers is not the greatest as you may experience delay and interference, but nevertheless sound quality was good and the bluetooth feature is useful. They sound best when connected directly.

Great until they break in less than a year
January 30, 2017
These speakers were awesome until the one speaker started to go out within less than a year. Seems to be the "powered speaker" switch that went out, because when you flip it the opposite speaker goes out. It's also something that comes and goes at random for no apparent reason. I contacted Mackie customer service via e-mail and told them the problem since it was still under the manufacturer warranty. They told me I had to call in with the speakers in front of me for them to determine if it was a product defect. Unfortunately their customer service is only open during the hours I work, so I am not able to call with my speaker set up in front of me. I told them that and they never got back to me. Why I would need to call in to go over something that is DEFINITELY a common manufacturing defect is beyond frustrating. Buy this if you have a disposable income and don't need speakers that last.
terrible...don't waste your money.
August 19, 2016
Super disappointed in these speakers. First of all, the 4" subwoofer is 3.25 inches. The right tweeter started crackling within a month of purchase. I have these hooked up to my iMac, simply to improve stock computer sound while listening to music/youtube/etc in my home office. Wasn't expecting deep bass, but better than average sound quality should be a given for proclaimed "studio monitor sound" ...for lack of better words, these speakers suck.
Stopped working after 3 months
February 3, 2016
Bought these on Nov 2015. I used them sporadically at the same volume level (~75%) all the time as they were used for home automation. The speakers stopped working on Feb 2016. Needless to say very upset and disappointed with the quality of the product. Good for paper weight, although expensive for that purpose. Don't buy this product!!
