Five Star Reviews: | 52% QUALITY PRODUCT. September 5, 2017 GOOD PRICE AND A QUALITY PRODUCT WITH EASY CLEAN OUT OPTION. VERY HAPPY WITH IT. Extremely well made June 1, 2017 Extremely well made! Highly recommend. Now just need a bird to move on in! Swinging little house! April 7, 2014 I bought this house for chickadees and "phoebes", and any of the other small birds that frequent my yard, and who sometimes build nests in hanging baskets...they are just arriving now, and I see birds checking out the "new house" on the block! The house is the right size, well built, and will be easy to clean...good little place for a lovely nest and a bunch of baby birds! It hangs, which means it can swing a bit in the wind, but cats and other critters can't get the birdies...the cedar also smells so lovely! | 69% Very successful in its second season September 11, 2017 We ordered this house and hung it up in May last year - no takers. We left it up through the fall and winter and at the beginning of May this year a wren appeared in our yard to investigate. They had two broods in the house this summer and we enjoyed seeing all the activity. The wren house faces east / southeast and is hanging from a tree branch about 6 feet from the ground, at the edge of the woods (we live in north central MA). Until this year, we have never seen wrens in our yard so we are very happy. Cute and functional! August 15, 2017 Well built and cute! I did apply two coats of polyurethane varnish on mine before putting them out. They come unfinished, which would probably be fine but I wanted mine to last. I am very happy with these wren houses August 13, 2017 I purchased two of these nice-looking little wren houses early in the spring. Before I purchased them it was clear they were constructed from pine wood and would need to be sealed against moisture for them to last long term. I stained them on the outside to give them a finished look and then coated them inside and out with SPAR polyurethane. I also sealed the crew holes on the roof with dabs of silicone sealant. I hung them both in small tress about 10 feet high facing to the southeast, one in the front yard and one in the back. It wasn't long before both were being used by wrens. It appears both families did well and now are out and about. I will be cleaning the nests out soon so they will be ready for next year. Although these houses require some extra work, the price is right. I am very happy with these wren houses. Provides a home to my little friends June 12, 2017 The item is made well. Very cute and natural look. I hung it in our tree out front and it's great to see that a bird has nested in it. (There are twigs sticking out through the gap in the bottom.) Very nice May 31, 2017 Made beautiful want it ti age naturally. Had one bought second one here one two three I had it. Roof beautifully put together real brass screws used perfect size little bigger than looks here. Both the Bird and I Like It May 30, 2017 In one day a cute little wren had built a nest in it and was sitting on the top begging for a mate. Very good cedar and well-built. | 51% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 15% This little birdhouse is adorable and exactly as I pictured it September 1, 2016 This little birdhouse is adorable and exactly as I pictured it! Very nice, made from nice wood and seems to be sturdy. I'll have to update this posting in the spring when I see if the little birds like it well enough to build their nests in it. I think it's great! I love this little birdhouse June 10, 2016 I love this little birdhouse... I hung it up in a tree in my backyard, but sparrows moved in - not Wrens. It is okay though - because I like sparrows to :) It was easy to tap back into place with a hammer and ... November 16, 2015 One of the houses came with the front detached. It was easy to tap back into place with a hammer and nails, but it was an inconvenience. They are a good size though and look like they should hold up well. Cute as can be! April 29, 2015 I think it takes a really long time for wrens to actually nest in houses, I have had this one up for over 2 months still nothing. Not sure why, I see Wrens in the yard everyday, it may be too late for them to build a nest. Anyhow, this little birdhouse is really very cute, and maybe next year they will actually nest in it, for now its just an empty birdhouse hanging in my tree. Very cute, good size, and plenty of ventilation. February 2, 2015 This house is very cute, however, there is a crack in the roof that may split more when the wood ages. I didn't want to send it back in fear the next one would be worse. A little wood glue/filler should fix it. Haven't hung it outside since we have snow and bitter cold temperatures, but can't wait to hand it come spring when the wrens return. | 16% Four Stars July 25, 2017 hopefully the nuthatch will try it, might have to get the one that is for nuthatch's Four Stars April 20, 2017 A good wren house and not expensive. These last for years in my northeast weather. Not hard to clean. Well made, but no wrens yet July 30, 2016 Nice birdhouse, but might be a little too small of an opening for larger species of wrens. We had a nesting pair show up on our deck, but have not yet seen them try out the house. It hasn't been a week yet since we hung it, so maybe a right-sized pair will eventually move in. Nice little house January 27, 2016 We purchased two different types of wren houses at the same time in hopes that the wrens would adopt at least one of them. So far, no luck, but they were hung up late in the season, so perhaps in the spring the wrens will move in. Well made little house. No complaints. Quite satisfactory June 12, 2015 Arrived on time, with none of the manufacturing defects encountered by a few other purchasers. The only reason it doesn't earn five stars is the difficulty in cleaning. Dismantling it is going to be a bit of a chore that could have been avoided by a small change in design. Otherwise, it's excellent, and I'm happy to support Audubon. Unfortunately, the birds haven't found it yet, so it would have been great if it had come complete with a nesting wren couple ... Nice little wren house April 23, 2013 I like this wren house. Solidly built. However, I'm probably not going to like having to unscrew bottom to remove the old nest. Would have been better with a hinged bottom for easy cleaning. | 19% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 8% Wren Cedar Birdhouse August 18, 2015 When it arrived, two places in the wood were cracked from end to end. I expected better workmanship, using wood that was not cracked. I did put a sealer on the wood on the outside, hoping that will prevent it from falling apart. I like the size, and being able to clean it out by lifting the lid. Was looking for a robing bird house but this item ... July 5, 2015 Was looking for a robing bird house but this item works for the little birds we get in the yard Poor Quality Product April 30, 2015 Product was poorly made. Two of the three birdhouses were broken. My husband somewhat repaired them so we can at least use them. I will not buy from this seller again. Cute but maybe a bit overpriced March 14, 2013 It's heavy the wood is sturdy, the desing is ver nice. I was disapointed to see the gaps at the roof line though - a little wood putty or more attention to detail might be in order. Extra coat of paint should fill the gaps - but if you arent planning on painting it, then you either know you are providing a leaky home or you can use caulk or wood glue before you put it up. Entry hole too large for wrens November 12, 2009 This is a cute little bird house, but the hole is way too large for wrens. I will try to find something to put in the circle to make it smaller. | 7% This actually seems to be fairly well-made, and is ... October 29, 2016 This actually seems to be fairly well-made, and is exactly as described. The only drawback is the hole is so small that the finches in my area can't fit inside of it. It is a nicely built little wren house April 20, 2016 It is a nicely built little wren house. Will just have to wait now and see if it attracts wrens. As a kid our family had a painted wren house that lasted for years and had wrens every year. This wren house is just wood. I hope it will last. This is not a kit to assemble June 11, 2014 This is not a kit. The description doesn't mention a kit but when searching for a birdhouse kit for my nine year old this item was prominently displayed so I just figured it was a kit to assemble without looking carefully. It's of decent construction, but I just wanted to alert others that might be looking for a DIY birdhouse kit. Well constructed/No access for cleaning? December 10, 2013 It items is well constructed but unfortunately I failed to take note of other customer's reviews and take note there is no access for cleaning. NOT MADE IN THE USA December 10, 2013 NOT MADE IN THE USA as it says it is..... Mine came with a "made in china" sticker on it. The main reason why I bought this was because it specifically said made in the USA.I also had bought 2 houses. Guess I lucked out there since one came broken. | 15% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 8% very disappointed in the quality of the birdhouse August 28, 2017 This was advertised as a birdhouse. When I received it, it also said bird feeder on the packaging. Either way, very disappointed in the quality of the birdhouse. There are large gaps between the roof and sides of the house. Not very protective to our feathered friends :( Smaller than listed May 11, 2017 The demensions are wrong, it's smaller than listed. Also, you pay for what you get. Good thing this was on sale for $11 when I bought it. Otherwise I would return it. It's cheaply made. Disappointed April 18, 2017 First house arrived with a broken roof. Returned for replacement and replacement also came with a damaged roof. Has a crack, but not completely broken off. Very cute birdhouse, but 2 out of the 3 ... December 18, 2015 Very cute birdhouse, but 2 out of the 3 were damaged, even the replacement came broken, they did take it back but I just got a refund Not finished October 9, 2013 Cute birdhouse!....BUT..there's a gap where the top wasn't finished. It's missing the "lip" and part of the side of the roof.Didn't send it back because I don't want to "eat" the cost of shipping again | 2% It looks cute... September 19, 2015 Everything is permanently in place, so it has to be dismantled to be cleaned out. This is only my second birdhouse purchase, so I'm no expert, but it seems like much more thought was put into the other one I purchased elsewhere. Cheap hardware for rubber hanger. November 4, 2014 Very cute house, cheap hanger, made in China. Crimped metal area of hanger broke before I even got it on the tree. Would never hold up to winter or strong breezes! Back it goes. In spite of being an "Audubon" product, the floor ... July 28, 2014 In spite of being an "Audubon" product, the floor is not far enough away from the hole for the wrens to build their nest and safely raise their young. There should be at least 4 inches' distance from the floor to the hole. Sadly, I will need to return this product. Not deep enough - babies fell out and died July 30, 2013 We have had lots of wren houses before and thought this looked cute and so did the wrens. They had their first brood there this spring but as soon as the babies got the least bit active - they would come to the hole screaming for food and fall out. I saw it happen on one baby and was able to get him back in and mom was happy. But we had already lost one two days before and felt terrible. They were not mature enough to fledge but old enough to hop around inside. With the nest material it just was not deep enough to be safe. When we unscrewed the house (only way to clean it out) to inspect after they left - the nest material was just not very deep and still the babies fell out. It was sad. We have gone to the deeper wren houses and we have two broods that have fledged happily. | 2% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 17% Cheap. May 9, 2016 Cheaply made. One came broken and had to be returned. The other has a crack on it and I foresee it breaking very soon. it will be fine! March 8, 2016 I am thinking of sending it back. There are open spaces on the bottom and sides, where insects & weather can get in. The roof doesn't fit well either. My husband will ad wood to the open areas& screw down the roof. It is a lovely cedar, so with some fixing, it will be fine! Cute but came with a cracked roof February 1, 2009 The price was right - right for a birdhouse with a cracked roof. The birdhouse was shipped with a staple holding the roof together over the crack. You get what you pay for and this was very cheap. | 6% Don't buy! July 27, 2017 Hanging strap broke off this wren house with a family of baby wrens inside. Babies are lost. No perch! June 7, 2016 Hung it up and birds have ignored it. Suddenly realized why - there is no perch post so they can't land on it! Am going to have to drill a hole and Doctor it before it can be used. Disappointing! Less than 5 months old and already in the repair pile! September 16, 2015 I hate to give thumbs down to any product unless there's a very good reason, but in this case that's exactly why I'm writing this. I got this house on April 18th because our other houses were already taken and we had a nesting pair of Carolina wrens in need of living quarters. Unfortunately we were too late to accommodate them but I left the house hanging on a shepherd's crook for future use. Needing to take the shepherd's crook for a change in its base, I took the house off and walked toward my work shed when, lo and behold, the hanging wire pulled loose from the ferrule! Today is September 16th, so this house failed to last 5 months before needing repair, not a very good track record in my opinion. I can fix the ferrule but I shouldn't have to do so for at least one year... | 13% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
