Saves us loads of time!
September 3, 2017
We bought this as a replacement for a Cuisinart Griddler that we received years ago as a gift. While the Griddler had rotating skewers, we almost never used that function, and the size of the griddle suffered greatly because of it. We've been using this for pancakes and okonomiyaki (a type of Japanese pancake with cabbage, egg, flour, and other ingredients), and while the Griddler could only do 4 small pancakes or one okonomiyaki at once, we can easily do over double that with this, so that's been a huge time saver.

The handles and drip pan are very easy to put on and take off, and the surface is great for easy flipping. However, I've noticed that after a few months of use (once or twice a week), the non-stick surface is no longer as non-stick as it once was, and I need to use more oil now to get the same performance, but otherwise, it's been great. It's really simple to use, clean, and store, and for the price, to me it's a no-brainer, as it cost about the same as a replacement plate for the Griddler would have. We love it.
Could NOT be happier with this griddle
December 28, 2016
Bought this for my partner as a Christmas gift after reading all the reviews. Could NOT be happier with this griddle. It's lightweight but sturdy, the handles pop on and off really easily, completely non-stick. We've cooked every meal on this bad boy since he opened it Christmas morning: bacon and eggs, hamburgers, pancakes, grilled cheese, all of it perfectly and evenly cooked.

The comments about the far side from the plug being cooler were accurate, but that's a benefit to us. Allowed us to cook a full pound of bacon, move it to the left side to stay warm, and use most of the griddle to cook the eggs (in the bacon grease, mmm).

Can't recommend this product enough. Fits in our cupboards no problem, though my only struggle with it so far is that our apartment-sized single sink makes it a little hard to clean without getting water all over the counters. The griddle itself cleans up like a DREAM though. We've just waited for it to cool and then gently wash. So happy with this purchase!
Works very well!

This review is for the Presto 07061 22 inch Griddle.

Our old Presto unit simply wore out - the non-stick surface became "sticks every time surface"; we had gotten excellent service out of it and decided that we'd stick with Presto if we could find one that had decent ratings and a reasonable price.

The 07061 model seemed to fit the bill.

The legs are not installed when the unit arrives but it takes only seconds to get them attached to the griddle proper. They are attached by spring clips and it's an easy assembly.

The power unit appears to be the same as other Presto products in size and design and the temperature levels are clearly marked and the dial swivels nicely; not too loose and there are no sticking points in the dial movement.

The griddle surface is not perfectly smooth as the old Presto unit was - the new one has a textured surface which is designed to assist with the 'non-stick' feature. Of course we've only had the new unit a few weeks so I can't really comment on the longevity of the new surface but so far it's certainly been "non-stick". We use the unit primarily for breakfast foods (eggs, pancakes, ham, etc.) and nothing so far has left a trace on the surface of the griddle. We do use a bit of oil or cooking spray, however. YMMV.

Cleanup is accomplished using a wet, soapy sponge and a rinse in clear water. I had some concerns about cheese dripping off of some grilled sandwiches but the griddle took the mess in stride and the cheese was simply swept away by the sponge.

Overall, we're delighted with the unit with the only caveat being that, unlike the previous design, the power plug inserts into an indentation on the side of the griddle and thus reduces the cooking area by a few square inches. The drip pan is not as wide as the one on the older unit but seems to get the job done and is easy to insert and remove.

HTH

Jim
Best Pancake Griddle I've Owned
February 6, 2016
There is a reason this griddle is the Amazon top seller and has so many positive reviews. This is the read deal and I could not be happier with this purchase.

As described, the griddle has removable handles which are integrated with the feet the griddle sits on. That actually concerned me when I initially looked at the item description, since I suspected the removable handles and feet might make it wobbly. Fortunately, the overwhelmingly positive reviews convinced me to buy it despite my reservations. To my relief, I found the handles are extremely easy to attach and the assembled unit is rock solid. I probably won't be removing them that often but it is undoubtedly a great feature for folks that may have limited storage space.

I also saw some reviews mention the textured cooking surface. A least from my experience, that is not a negative factor in cooking performance or the appearance of the food. From my first batch of pancakes, I could see no difference other than the pancakes turned out better than what I was able to cook on my last griddle. Unlike most griddles I have owned over the years, I could see no evidence of a "hot spot" where the area of a pancake over the heating element would cook darker than the rest of the pancake. Put simply, this griddle is a keeper!

Only time will tell how this product will hold up over the long run, but so far, so good. I consider this to be an exceptional value for the money and would recommend it without hesitation.
Even better than my last Presto griddle
June 1, 2012
I had the Presto 07039 22-Inch Electric Griddle for 5 years, but the nonstick surface was starting to wear off from frequent use, so I was in the market for a replacement. Having had a Presto already, I knew it did a decent job of cooking evenly, had a good nonstick surface, and was affordably priced. I was hoping to find one that would be a little easier to clean, and debated between a couple of dishwasher-safe options, but settled on the Presto 07061 22-inch Electric Griddle with Removable Handles for its removable handles. The problem with all the dishwasher-safe options is that they were big and bulky - by design since the heating element had to be separate from the cooking surface.I am please to report that I am happy with my choice. The large 22" cooking surface has excellent nonstick properties; I prefer it over my previous Presto griddle which didn't have the same texture. I made an egg (with no oil) and the non-stick was so good that the edges of the egg actually curled up and away from the surface on their own. No sticking whatsoever.I was a bit worried that the handles might be loose, making the griddle wiggly, but I'm happy to report that is not the case. In fact, I can't tell that they are removable handles at all when moving the griddle around. It's very solid, with nice little rubber grippies on the bottom of the legs - something my previous Presto did not have. And the handles are very simple to remove. Each of the four legs has a tight spring latch that secures the handles in place. You can easily remove the handles in seconds and store the cooking surface in the same cupboard as your pizza pans! The shape of the cooking surface is also more convenient to clean than my last Presto. This one is flat, with an opening in the rim where the grease tray resides. You can wipe the surface straight off the edge of the griddle into the grease tray or a sink/garbage. My previous Presto just had a small hole that grease was supposed to drain through, and you had to wipe any larger pieces up and over the rim. Also, the grease tray on this model has two small catches that prevent it from sliding open too easily. My last Presto had no such mechanism, and the tray actually slid out while I was in the process of moving it and broke when it hit the floor.Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. I'm sure there are other great griddle options out there with more bells and whistles, but this one does the job and is both affordable and convenient.

Use it daily and love it.
August 10, 2016
Huge, doesn't stick, cools quickly when turned off, washes up nicely. I use it every day. Along with my Instantpot and microwave, it's all I need. I don't even own a stove or regular oven.

The only thing I'd change is that the pour spout lets steam out so you can't steam eggs or keep all the heat in. While I get that it's handy for pouring, it's kind of big for pouring, and I just use a ladel. I'm assuming that people use this to get grease from frying chicken or bacon out, so I guess I can see how it would be helpful. But, for someone like me who doesn't cook greasy foods and prefers to keep the steam in, it's annoying. I can see, however, that it would be helpful when using this to bake. I haven't baked in it yet as it's huge and I would have to freeze most of what I made, but I am happy that it has this capability. So far, I've cooked meats, eggs, stirfry, sauteed veggies, and pancakes. All cooked up beautifully. Mind you, this is not going to get to 500 degrees for searing steaks, but it's hot enough for what I cook, and it holds its temperature well. You can see the ring of heat on the surface faintly after you've used it a few times, and that seems to work pretty well. I made a huge omelet this morning, and it was just lovely. A bag of peppers and onions, a little butter, some spices, a bit of grated cheese, and six eggs produced three hearty servings. It could make a lot more in all that space. Still, it's hand for just two eggs. Would be perfect for french toast too.

Edited to add that I still love this product and baked cornbread in it the other day with good results. It's very nonstick, even without adding oil, though I just wipe it out most of the time so it might have some oil on it. Because you can control the temperature, it's easier to cook many items than on the stove. Also, the thinness of the pan allows it to heaI and later cool quickly when turned on or off. I never have to rush to remove a food for fear it will over cook as the pan stops heating and loses heat soon after turning it off. It's elevated, so air underneath helps cool it wisen you turn it off. Very easy to clean. It's much better than Teflon in terms of not sticking and durability plus it doesn't make toxic fumes when you heat it without anything in it as far as I know.
Best Electric Skillet EVER!
July 25, 2016
I use an electric skillet almost daily, instead of cooking on my stove top. It's just cleaner and easier that making a mess in skillets or pans, having to clean the stove and surrounding counter tops, pan, etc. Any way, I've been through several electric skillets in the last 20 years. Assorted brands and sizes. Here is what I LOVE about this one.
1. Cooks very evenly. That said, there is absolutely a ring that gets hotter directly over the heating element that you will notice when making sauces or gravy, etc. But it does heat much more consistently throughout the pan basin than others I have used.
2. SUPER easy to clean. Just unsnap the base and the whole skillet goes into the dishwater.
3. Has a pour spout on one side. You can rest a spoon there also. FAB!
4. Nice and deep. Holds a large capacity of whatever you are preparing. You can cook several different things at the same time.
5. The base folds up and stores inside the pan. Put in the power cord, flip the lid upside down and it does not take up much cabinet space at all.

I have had this for about 6 weeks and have used it at least 30 times. So far, so fantastic.
Cleverly designed and worked well
February 10, 2013
The family was pretty excited about this item when I showed them just the box last week. We used it for the first time at dinner last night. We celebrated Reunion Dinner (i.e. the meal enjoyed by Chinese all over the world on the eve of the Lunar New Year) with this skillet. We cooked all our food in it -- shrimp, tilapia, pork, chicken, vermicelli, bok choy and even frozen dim sum! The homemade broth boiled quickly and stayed hot throughout our 90-minute-long dinner. Food was cooked evenly and thoroughly. We like how easy it was to put it together and take it apart. The instructions provided were clear and concise with helpful illustrations where necessary. Furthermore, washing the skillet was a snap: just warm water, a little dish soap and a soft sponge (we prefer to wash most cooking utensils by hand). We are already looking forward to using this skillet for other meals in the very near future. This was an excellent buy.
Now this is how an electric skillet should work!
June 4, 2012
After making the mistake of equating quality with a high-end and high-cost name brand (begins with "C", think food processors) I listened to recommendations from friends and reviews on Amazon, and bought the Presto. I was very pleasantly surprised that this unit does everything well that I found deficient in the Cuisinart skillet. First and foremost, it heats evenly over the entire cooking surface which is a must when making crepes or pancakes. Second, it maintains an even and constant cooking temperature without shutting off and on the cooking elements as the desired temperature is reached. And third, it remains entirely level on a level surface which eliminates the pooling of pancake batter or cooking oil which occurred with the Cuisinart. The design and engineering of the Presto are top notched, and for the money it represents an excellent value. The foldaway design is rather nice as well. I cannot attest to the longevity of the non-stick cooking surface as I've only used the unit about 5 times so far. If it lasts for years as it should then this is truly a 5-star product.
I love this Skillet!
February 22, 2012
I purchased this skillet to replace one from another manufacturer with a removable base (it had distinct heating zones and was not even at all!).

This skillet has nearly straight sides, of nice depth. As stated, the foldaway base and temperature control fit nicely inside the skillet itself, making a very compact unit for storage. I made fried chicken in it as a test case (something my old skillet failed miserably at!). To my delight, each piece was cooked evenly. This skillet seems to have no 'cold spots' or overly hot spots. The spoon rest cutaway in the corner makes a nice vent for the pan when cooking, and easy pouring for liquids in the skillet. Cleanup was a fast and easy. If you are looking for a skillet that has fast, even heating, easy cleanup and a compact footprint in a cupboard, this is definitely one to consider!

Overall a good product
July 22, 2017
Like everyone said, does not cook evenly. Not a huge issue though.

Pros:
- reached the set temperature quickly.
- real non- stick product
- perfect size for making 8 pancakes
- handles and the power cord are detachable. Makes it easy to store.

-cons:

- does not heat evenly. Again, not huge issue. Set it to 400 and flip the pancakes after 2 minutes. Results would be more satisfactory.

- the thermostat doesn't seem to be working properly. Never seen it turn on and off the heater when it reaches the temperature. Maybe I haven't paid attention to it. I never head a beep or click sound that most thermostats do. This is not a defect. And the griddle does not overheat. Just a concern.

Overall, I'm satisfied and would recommend it.
Great product, just really long.
May 19, 2017
great griddle, just to large for me. should have gotten the smaller version. easy to clean and so much nicer than the last one I had, easy to plug in the power to the griddle (last one was a pain) heats evenly. Without the feet/handles it is as long as my cabinets (standard) are deep. You have to remove the feet/handles to store, so then you have all these parts all over the place. I simplify that by attaching them with the handles backwards under the griddle for storage and just flip the around for use.
Nice size, heats well and fast
March 23, 2017
My wife bought it to heat up tortillas table side so no-one has to get up to heat them. I like it, but not very practical unless you need to heat a whole bunch of them. It's a large size, so it takes up a bit of space. It does come in very handy for making pancakes on the weekend though and the temp control is great.
Not perfect, but well worth the money!
November 24, 2014
This griddle is worth buying at the low price and I'd recommend it to anyone with a few things pointed out.

The high points:
*Size. This 22-inch griddle is roughly 25% larger than other griddles I've owned. Awesome.
*Nonstick surface. After 3 months of several times a week use, the nonstick shows no signs of wearing out. It's super easy to wash too!
*Low profile. This griddle is more convenient to store than past griddles I've owned due to the low profile. And when you remove the legs(which is easy) it can store with the cookie sheets!

Things to take note of:
*First and foremost is the textured surface. It has a very tight pattern of little diamond shapes. I think the technical term is "knurled." Not sure what this accomplishes, but it hasn't seemed to hurt anything. I will say that the effect is very noticeable on pancakes and fried eggs.
*Uneven heating surface. Every electric griddle I've ever owned has had this problem. The griddle gets hottest near the heating element and will even leave stripes on your pancakes. It's a necessary evil I'm willing to live with to gain the convenience of an electric griddle.
*The whole griddle is bowed toward the center. When it first came, the griddle didn't have this problem, but over time it has reared it's ugly head. Now eggs and bacon grease both run toward the middle. Quite irritating when you are trying to keep foods separate while cooking.

All in all this is a great griddle for the money and I'm glad I bought it.

*Update Feb 1st, 2016* The griddle is now bowed considerably toward the center. There's no question anymore of trying to cook eggs anywhere but the middle. The nonstick surface is still great; virtually nothing sticks to it and it's showing almost no signs of wear.
Excellent for breakfast
December 8, 2012
I love making Sunday morning breakfast with this griddle....my one complaint is for Presto. Why can't you make a griddle and skillet that has more consistent cooking temps over the entire surface...too many hot spots and no heat spots with only a few inches separating the food. Still I love how big this is, and storage is awesome with the removable legs.

Just what I needed!
July 30, 2017
This product was just what I needed in my RV. Really appreciate how it folds up and fits in my drawer between uses. It's been a long time since I purchased or used an electric frying pan, but it seems like a maximum of 400 degrees is low? Just doesn't seem to cook as hot as I remember frying pans used to. Love the red with stainless steel accents.
Handy to store, easy to clean.
July 30, 2017
Very stable, easily folds for space saving. Pan easy to clean in sink, NOT dishwasher. Top is glass, would never touch a cold or wet cloth to it. (Seems like Pyrex and we know Pyrex would break under those conditions!) Gave 4 starts because thermostat does not seem totally accurate.
Big Skillet, but easy to store.
July 14, 2017
At first I thought this was a little big, but I have grown to love it. When it collapses it makes for easy storage. Its a nice size and good for cooking chicken, wings, pancakes and other items you need a steady temp for. It cooks fairly even. You do notice due to the size, the middle doesn't cook as well as the sides where the element are. Overall I am very happy with it for the price.
I really like the design and the ability to put it in ...
October 28, 2016
Very prompt delivery, and I opened and used it right away. I really like the design and the ability to put it in the dishwasher. The larger cooking surface is a plus, and the same for the detachable base. The unit may not be capable of really high heat for Asian cooking but I can see that it's a compromise with the light weight and compact storage ability. I likely won't be turning to this for day to day cooking anyway. I plan on using this as a steamer by inserting a metal grate. The instructions say that you should not leave the unit soaking for long periods to clean it as it may degrade the non-stick surface -- ??? That's a bit disconcerting. Hopefully using it as a steamer will not degrade it.
VERY NICE SKILLET!
September 21, 2016
This skillet is really great to use, and so easy to clean. I did NOT rate it at a 5 stars because I have found that even on the warm setting, the food will still continue to keep cooking. I'd like to know the actual temperature of that "warm" setting. At 200 degrees, your food will still boil. When I take this camping with me, I would like it to have a TRUE WARM setting. I had hoped to replace a large crockpot with this skillet for camping, but cannot do it because the warm setting is still keeping my food too hot and not just warm. My crockpot warm setting is exactly that. At home, however, I use the skillet a lot and am totally satisfied with it's performance.

I have still yet to find a good quality portable griddle
June 11, 2017
I have still yet to find a good quality portable griddle. It worked fairly well enough but gave off a very plastic odor when we were cooking on it. It also must be very high voltage since it dims the lights in the house when being used. I would recommend just buying a heavy duty one instead.
Textured surface makes teriible pancakes
May 30, 2017
I saw all the great reviews and purchased this griddle. It heats evenly and seems to have a great non-stick cooking surface. My main complaint has to do with the textured surface. I bought this primarily to cook pancakes, but the textured surface causes the pancake surfaces to be rather hard and dry. It may work well for other types of foods, but it does not cook pancakes that well. If you are considering buying this primarily for pancakes, i would suggest buying a different griddle without the textured surface.
Grease doesn't flow in to catcher very well
December 7, 2016
Bought this to replace another electric griddle that was past its prime. Was suprised at how much more splatter happens on this griddle vs the one it is replacing. I think the reason is because the griddle has not angled enough for the grease to slip in to the end that has the grease catcher. I've taken to propping up the back end just a bit to give gravity a hand and allow the grease to flow in to the catcher. An extra step I didn't have to take with my previous griddle.
Good entry level griddle. It does heat unevenly but worth the price.
March 29, 2015
I bought this with low expectation based on the other reviews. I purchased this to specifically cook pancakes for a family of four. I have since cooked others things like eggs and bacon. For the price it performed satisfactory AND you will need to accept that it does not heat evenly. When cooking pancakes, my solution is to give the pancakes a turn so that all sides of the pancakes cooks evenly. Some of the other reviews will show you how it cooks across the surface.

One nice feature is the removable handles. It comes in handy for storage and clean up. I would not put this in the dish washer nor would I soak it entirely under water. Just wipe it off with a damp dish rag or cloth. That should be good enough. The drip tray is also nice and works as expected.
Fairly even heat, but weird non-stick surface
September 12, 2013
This griddle heats fairly well and cleanup is easy, but the non-stick coating has a weird diamond-shaped pattern on it. The result is pancakes with a texture on the the surface, not a nice smooth pancake. It's just weird. Maybe they do that so there is less surface area touching the food and thereby making it less sticky, but I don't like it.

Stores well, wears decently. Is fair, not outstanding.
November 27, 2016
I bought this 3 years ago and have used it, on average, 2-3 times a month. After about 18 months the nonstick coating began to scratch off, and the heating elements began to create very distinct hot zones. I continued to use it with no real troubles, but now, at 3 years, the electric cord is worn and will not stay turned on with any consistency. In a world of planned obsolescence, I think this skillet is a decent purchase for the price. I had hoped I could get 5 years out of it, but 3 is fair, if not outstanding.
Doesn't hold up to every day use.
September 20, 2015
We use electric skillets daily - everything from bacon & eggs to pancakes to stir-fries to ratatouille to grilled sausages to......well, a huge variety. This skillet is great at first: it heats pretty evenly (but not perfectly - it is definitely hotter right where the element runs), and the removable pan makes it easy to clean. It's a little wobbly/rickety, but not enough to be a big problem. But after a while (a couple of months), the food sticks more and more, and the hot spots are more pronounced. I'm having to replace it far sooner than I should.
The concept of this skillet is great. However, the implementation is not so good.
May 4, 2015
The base of the skillet has a metal strip around it (see first picture) that when put inside the skillet to stow it away, rubs against the Teflon coating. (See second picture)
If not for that I'd give it five stars.
Not so hot. ...and then too hot.
November 11, 2014
It seems to have two temps. Barely on and full blast. I even had Presto send me another heating element because I thought there was something wrong. There wasn't, it's just how it is. Also, the heat is concentrated in the middle and doesn't really ever even out to the sides. I have to keep adjusting the heat. On - Off, On - Off, On - Off, you get the picture.
Anyone else have this problem?
April 8, 2014
Skillet works perfectly. Unfortunately, the bottom has a black sooty coating that comes off on my hands every time I touch it. Tried removing coating and cleaning with several methods and products, including hard scrubbing. Thought I got it clean, but next time through the dishwasher it all came back again. The sides, which have a finish on them, don't have this problem. Apparently there's some reaction between the metal on the bottom and hot water/dishwasher detergent. Found myself spreading black fingermarks all over the kitchen before I figured out the source of the inky residue. Too late for me to return as I purchased in February.

nice grill. good quality, heating is pretty even.

Temperature control malfunctions -> griddle doesn't last long
July 29, 2017
I would have given 5 stars if the product lasted at least ONE YEAR. I understand they are not going last forever, but within 6 months it started malfunction. The griddle's temperature control senses the temperature is too hot and keep turning off. The result is griddle never reaches / stays at the temperature sufficient to cook omlet / tortilla / anything practically. Very disappointed with this purchase causing loss of money in such a short period of time.
To be fair, two stars for the design, size, and construction.
Would love to hear from the vendor / manufacturer if they can address the issue.

Very large cooking area. This unit does not heat evenly and it seems not to reach 400 degrees like it says.
Griddle warps- beware!
February 14, 2016
After considering an electric griddle for months and doing some research, I decided on this model. I have a family of 5, so the large cooking surface appealed to me, as I could cook more food in a shorter period of time. I didn't need a "Mercedes" version with all of the bells and whistles, but I wanted to have a model with even cooking and a non-stick surface. This product seemed to fit the bill. At first...

I have only used this griddle 5 times (the 5th being this morning), and only for pancakes and bacon. The temperature has never been set above 350°. This morning, I cooked pancakes on it and there was a noticeable warp from the ends declining toward the middle. When I poured my pancake batter on it, it slid toward the middle and made my pancakes tear drop shaped and it was difficult to keep the batter from running into adjacent pancakes. The previous two times I used it was for bacon, so if the warping occurred then, I didn't notice.

In reference to even cooking, I don't have really any complaints. Yes, there are "stripes" but I can live with that, as the pancakes still turned out pretty well. And, I didn't have any issues with bacon cooking unevenly. The non-stick surface is great- I have never used oil and I don't think I ever will.

My biggest issue, as stated above, is the bowing toward the middle. If I could return it, I would, as making pancakes is the primary reason I bought it. Call me OCD, but I want my pancakes to be ROUND- not tear drop shaped.
This one's a turd!
April 7, 2015
This griddle is sucko on two counts:

1- The material doesn't conduct heat well. Even after preheating, pancakes have weird stripes on them and sandwiches end up
toasty brown only over the element, the edges are underdone. I end up moving things around and around to evenly cook them, which is very annoying and probably makes me look like a huge goob.

2- The surface leaves an odd, tiny waffle weave on all your foods. It's unsettling. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. Guess I never knew I was a smooth pancake type of girl.

Black Sooty Residue is Annoying
July 7, 2017
I agree with the reviews about the nice cooking ability of this product however I find the black sooty residue on the base (outside) of the cooking surface to be very annoying. It is easy to touch this surface and leave black fingerprints in the kitchen........ and difficult to clean off fingers. HELP.

Ceramic discoloration
October 26, 2015
I purchased this item in May. I used it just as it was recommended. I never put it in the dishwasher. The ceramic coating has discolored and become rough on the interior above the heating element. A complete circle discolored. It looks rusty. I am way past the return stage even though I have had it less than 6 months. Is this just happening on my unit or are there others with the same problem? This is the only way I could contact Amazon as my list of purchases would not let me respond. Is there no response from Amazon or manufacturer for this item?

I really wanted to love this, it was everything I wanted in a griddle. I can even get over the weird design it leaves on my food. However, it doesn't heat up evenly and my pancakes come out super flat. I've been using the same recipe for years and never an issue, but with this griddle they don't come out fluffy at all. Too bad, it's so easy to store which is what I was looking for.
Disappointed!
June 23, 2016
It does not get hot enough and doesn't heat evenly. It cooked strips of bacon faster where the heating element runs around the bottom of it, so I had stripes through each strip where the bacon was done and not done. Then I cooked eggs over easy on the already hot griddle. It took 10 minutes to cook the whites at 400 and the yolk was still runny. Unfortunately, I didn't use the griddle until after the 30 day return window, therefore I am stuck with a piece of junk.
Cheap Piece of Junk
February 28, 2015
Save your money. I know this thing is low priced so we can't expect magic but this thing isn't worth much of anything. I put 10 pieces of bacon across it. The far left piece barely cooked - almost still raw when the other 9 were done. If you don't have something cooking on the far right near the temperature controller it will satisfy and nothing you have in the center will cook. So you have to keep moving the food to the right to keep it cooking smoothly. I should have taken a photo...
Striped pancakes, coming up!
December 14, 2014
Well, after researching extensively and noting the positive reviews on this griddle, I decided to ignore the multiple comments about the uneven heating resulting in stripes on cooked food. Well silly me! Turns out, my pancakes looked EXACTLY like the racing stripe pancakes shown in one of the customer uploaded photos. They didn't cook evenly at all. Obviously, Presto decided to save money by making the griddle cooking surface thinner. As in, way too much thinner. Don't these people test their product after a redesign?? Wasn't there someone who looked at the dark stripes on the food and said, 'Hm, maybe we went a little TOO thin'?

Apparently not.
Disappointing in temperature uniformity and control.
December 13, 2014
I bought this griddle based on previous brand experience and user reviews. I am disappointed in this product after using for a couple of months. The griddle does not heat uniformly from end-to-end or side-to-side. Bacon cooks very non- uniformly with areas near raw while other portions of the same strip are crispy. Pancakes have one side done to a golden brown while the other half of the same cake is nearly raw. The temperature control does not maintain temperature. I would NOT buy this griddle again nor would I recommend it to others.

12/25/14 Update - Used the griddle this AM to cook thick sliced bacon. I tried both cross-wise and length-wise orientation of the bacon strips. Both resulted in poor uniformity of cooking. Length-wise produced bacon nearly burned on one end and nearly raw on the other. I accordingly reduced the rating to a single star.

Coating coming off - very dissatisfied
September 11, 2016
I purchased this Presto 06857 skillet on 2-17-16 and I have been happy with it until today 9-11-16. We had made breakfast in it and my husband was cleaning it. After washing it, he dried it and called me over to show me the paper towel had a black substance on it. He used another clean paper towel on it and again there was a black substance on it - the coating was coming off. We are extremely careful with this skillet and never abuse it but we felt sick knowing we had been eating this coating yuk. Not good. As we inspected it closer, we noticed an area that the coating had entirely disappeared or was very thin. We are very dissatisfied and want to return this item. We do not recommend at all.

I absolutely Loved this when I first got it. (May) Finally I had found a skillet that was perfect. I am really sad to say that ended about a month ago when a round black ring showed up in the bottom and everything started sticking! I do use it at least 2 to 3 times a week but shouldn't it last at LEAST a year!
Product update-Purchased June 29, 2016
June 7, 2016
My Update for 11/22/16. BROKE-TRASH-EVERYTHING STICKS TO THE PAN, this thing will now only boil food. I figure the other one I bought will last just this long as well. Looking for a better one. I was told before it broke I could buy professional cleaner to make the pan look new or add oil or spray to keep it from sticking: I THOUGHT THIS WAS TEFLON!

I have used this skillet to cook everything except steak. The Teflon is really cheap. I can not seem to find a way to scramble eggs without the eggs sticking to the element area. I have tried cooking my eggs on warm, but they still stick. I have to soak the pan to loosen almost everything I cook.

I wish I had not bought this skillet nor the second one I purchased while testing this one out. I have never put it in this dishwasher so that is not what has caused this sticking problem and I have never cooked on a temperature above 350 degrees.
DANGEROUS PRODUCT -- GLASS TOP EXPLODES
April 26, 2016
After cooking, my wife handwashed the glass top and placed it in a drying rack. Moments later it spontaneously exploded, sending small shards of glass all over, including onto my wife's face and glasses. We found other similar incidents on line. This product should be recalled and taken off Amazon's site.
Warning---unidentifiable black residue on underside after dishwasher cycle
October 15, 2015
Wanted to buy American and lookedt forward to giving this Presto electric griddle a try. A big selling point was that the grill itself is dishwasher safe. Not! Actually, it is fine if you do not mind the black residue left on the bottom after the dish washing cycle. I do not know what this residue is or where it comes from but it has unnerved me as I am sure it is not particularly good to ingest. That the product is made in China heightens my concern that the recurring residue may be a poisonous substance (i.e., lead) leaching out of the bottom and either getting into the dishwasher, clean dishes, and food. I am now seeing that this residue is a pattern and not from a lack of proper cleaning. Does anyone know what this residue is? I am leaning towards trying to return it and never buying Presto again.
It also heats unevenly.

Update of 10/20/15: Happened again after hand washing and dishwashing. Photos of each instance are here. Just called Presto which can't explain it although the cs rep said the manual says this happens. I don't see it in the manual. She also said it is a reaction from our water and dishwasher soap. We are on muni water and a fully functioning water softener. No explanation yet from them.
