Extremely pleased with the results
August 13, 2015
First and foremost, I did not get this soundbar for my TV... rather i got it for my dorm room for college.I knew that I wanted to have incredible sound quality for under $200 and when I found this sound bar I got just that. My brother installs insane car stereos with deep, clean bass and I was surprised with how the 6.5" sub handled that task. At first I put it in my room at my parents house to test it out and reluctantly I placed it beneath our 55" Vizio TV and it just looks fantastic. My favorite part about the entire setup though is the wireless connectivity of the woofer making it look like a professional install in seconds. My parents laughed at my purchase of this sound bar but once they watched a movie with it they loved every second of it and asked me to find them one made by Vizio.Recently, I have played music through bluetooth from my computer and the sound level is the exact same throughout the entire 4,000 sq foot house while maintaining a crisp clean sound that carries extremely well for the money. I have recommended this exact soundbar to all my friends heading out to college or to any one for that matter for its ease of use and cheapness.
Great Size & Sound LOVE the Wireless Sub Too
April 20, 2015
I purchased this sound bar after purchasing a new LG Electronics 55UB8500 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV (2014 Model). This sound bar included a wall mount but what I did is place it behind the TV. It looks great! It's not too wide or not too narrow (I was afraid that the 55-inch TV may dwarf it). The sound is not blocked, since there is a a gap between the bottom of the TV and the chrome-colored stand. The subwoofer is wireless and I placed it in a corner beside my bed. The sound quality is EXCELLENT in my opinion! I actually upgraded from a Bose 321 sound system that was about 8 years old. The audio quality in my opinion is very close to that but this looks a lot cleaner and I have a lot less wires! I tinkered with the bass and audio settings using the included remote and was able to quickly perfect the sound that I needed for my room. Don't expect "room shaking" bass from the subwoofer but it definitely does a good job adding the "thump" to action sequences in movies, etc. One thing that I really like, since I use this in conjunction with an LGTV with Magic Remote, is that I was able to put the included remote in my drawer and use ONE REMOTE for everything! Another neat thing is how the sound bar powers on when I power on the TV with the Magic Remote and it powers off a few minutes or so after I turn off the TV. Less remotes, less wires and I could not be happier! In addition to this it supports Bluetooth and has a second optical audio jack too. I only use mine for the TV but those features may be beneficial for others that are considering this sound bar. I would buy again, if I needed a sound bar for a TV in another room!
Why not just spend a little extra and get a real nice surround sound set
December 31, 2014
I originally thought that for the amount these sound bars cost.. Why not just spend a little extra and get a real nice surround sound set? Well I decided to finally look into buying one when I first bought my plasma Samsung tv only because the speakers on the tv where terrible. I could never understand dialog in movies unless I put the volume on max. This sound bar is fantastic! It makes the sounds come to life. Voices, explosions, background noise all come out crisply and clearly. The best thing is the wireless subwoofer which really adds some power to the already smooth sounds.
Good sound, easy setup, nice price
December 19, 2014
Considering price, this is a worthy sound bar. I bought it to improve the sound for our tv in the sun room. Flat panel tv's are getting thinner and smaller for the given screen size. That means less and less room for proper tv speakers.Reading this review, realize I didn't buy this sound bar expecting all out performance. I have a decent 5.1 system in the basement for when I want to crank up a big action movie, and I a have a good 2.0 system in another room for music listening. All I wanted was an improvement for the sound of our flat panel tv and this sound bar definitely delivers. The sound is well projected, making dialog much easier to understand than with the tv speakers. The subwoofer puts out nice bass, filling the bottom well providing a balanced sound. We have small children that go to bed early, so we haven't cranked it up. But, at modest volumes the sound is clean and pleasant.Setup was easy, I used the included optical cable and connected it to the output on the tv. I am using the tv remote to control the volume. Vizio has the ability to program the remote for you for numerous devices. The subwoofer paired easily after I plugged it in next to the couch across the room. I also tested the bluetooth functionality and it worked well with my android phone. At higher price points, I'm betting you can get cleaner, fuller sound. LG isn't an established speaker manufacturer but they've built a competent system here that meets our needs. Recommended.
This thing rocks
September 10, 2013
I purchased an LG LCD 42" smart TV about two years ago with a low priced 'Brand-X' 150 Watt $300 sound bar. What attracted me to this device was 1) LG - a brand that I trust, 2) The Bluetooth connectivity, 3) The size, and powered sub woofer, 4) The price.I am happy with the TV sound performance, and enjoy the good clear sound. The Sub-woofer is good - too loud but can be dialed down.Where this thing excels is when streaming music via Bluetooth from a portable device. The sound reminds me of an old jukebox. Good clear mid and high tones with the woofer filling in the rest. You can make it as boomy as you can stand, or just dial the base down to your liking. There is plenty of loudness available to fill a large room with impressive sound. I have paired it with an iPhone 4s and two different Android tablets. It seems to remember all three devices so that I only need to select 'connect' on my portable device and it hooks up.Another nice feature is that a fiber optic cable is included in the package, is about 5 feet in length. You do not need to buy anything else to get this thing set up and running.Just be aware that this device only has a fiber optic cable link for your smart TV sound, no HDMI, or other connectors.
Great sound, sleek look, easy set-up!
June 22, 2013
We purchased this soundbar to replace our Polk Audio soundbar purchased in 2010 which made some strange sounds and then just died. It's no longer sold (was described by some at the time as "old technology".) Now that we have the LG soundbar, I completely agree. The sound is great. The sub-woofer (not on the Polk one) adds a whole new dimension to the sound. Considered a Sony soundbar that was highly rated on Consumer Reports, but went with theLG as it was in stock and appeared to be a fairly new model (not on the CR review) with high user reviews. Love listening to music from our iPad using the Bluetooth feature. The auto-on/off is great..the soundbar automatically turns on/off when you turn the tv on/off. One piece of advice....keep the box just in case if you can. Our original Polk soundbar died 2 months after purchase. Polk sent us another one but I had already disposed of the box so I had to piece together a box to ship it in. These things don't fit in just any old box. Luckily we have a basement.

Better Than The Aux Cable
April 1, 2017
Very happy with my choice. Before purchasing, I read some of the reviews about the Amazon Basics Optic cable, and didn't like the comments regarding the size of the ends of the cable. I didn't want to file down the ends or force it in just so the cable would fit. This cable was the next result in the list and had great reviews all around. I ultimately decided to pay the $1-2 difference and go with this one. I did not have that problem with this cable at all. It was quick and easy. I snapped it right into place and the ends are the appropriate size. I am using this cord to hook up my Sanyo sound bar purchased from Walmart to my LG flat screen TV. There is definitely a noticeable difference when using the optic cable vs the line-in (aux cable) that the sound bar comes with! The surround sound is so much better and playing music sounds amazing now. Get the most out of your sound bar by purchasing one of these.
Solid Optical Cable
February 6, 2017
There's not much to say about this as it's an optical cable, but for the price it seems to be well made and fits my needs perfectly. The ends and cable seem pretty durable as well as they seem to be more heavy duty than most default cables that come with different products. I bought 3 of these and used one for my sound bar and will use another to replace the stock one for my Astro A50 headset as the one that came with it is a little short and pretty flimsy compared to these ones. The last one I originally planned on having as a spare just in case, but I may try to use it for my PC if my speakers have an optical connection. For cables, they were pretty well packaged/protected. The ends had caps on them and were wrapped neatly in their bags. I think most, if not all, cables have the caps, but it's nice to see companies try to protect their products until customers get them. I've only been using one of them for about a week and it's been working perfectly fine so far. The length is pretty good as well. At 6 feet, I think that would fit most peoples needs as well. My sound bar is literally right in front of my TV so I only needed about a foot at most, but for people who have it a little farther away or want to use the cable for other applications the extra length should come in handy. If I have any issues going forward I will update this, but as of right now they work just fine and I would recommend them to anyone who wants/needs one or more of these.
Excellent cable does the job
November 9, 2016
[11/9/2016]I bought this cable as part of a home theater upgrade (along with a new HD projector, a ViewHD 4x2 HDMI matrix switch, and a set of Twisted Veins HDMI cables). When video is directed to the projector, audio needs to be sent separately to the sound system. This cable does the job perfectly. It also contributed to the removal of almost a dozen other cables (primarily numerous video and audio cables).I would buy this product again. and I recommend it to you. In fact, I am planning to get at least one more of these cables (for the DVD player).[4/14/2017]I just bought another one. Good cable, great seller, reasonable price, highly recommended.
Awsome value!

Cheap, high quality, what more could you want out of this?
Great cable, my speakers were making a crackling noise ...
July 20, 2016
Great cable, my speakers were making a crackling noise on my tv. Wasn't quite sure if it was the cable or interference. For the price of these cables I figured I'd give it a shot. This cable is is about twice a thick as the one that came with my speakers but the jacks are the same. Took care of the problem immediately.
Awesome sound
March 2, 2016
After purchasing a new TV last year I discovered that the new TV didn't have RCA audio outs anymore. Since my home theater system didn't accept Digital audio, I had to connect the audio from the cable box to the home theater system. The sound wasn't as good and it didn't sync with the TV as well. After getting a new sound bar last month I hooked up the RCA cables again and then ordered the BlueRigger Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable. The sound is so much better than the RCA cables sound. The sound is rich and fills the room. The TV and the soundbar are perfectly in sync and I don't have to mute the TV to hear the soundbar properly. I highly recommend this audio cable to anyone looking to improve their audio system. The cable seems well made and sturdy and was super easy to connect. The setup was complete within a minute. I would buy more of these but I don't have any other TV's that hook up to compatible sound systems.

If you have not priced these local you may not realize what a great deal Amazon has on Basics.
October 14, 2017
I got this to be "ready" for the new TV that Black Friday will provide! So I have not used the item yet to speak to in service quality. However the impression I get from the product and quality design and materials is very good. They are not flashy and covered in a gimmick style first design. Just good logical design and quality materials. Basics.. what you need and at a good price. If you have not priced these local you may not realize what a great deal Amazon has on Basics.
Best for the price and quality
August 11, 2017
For the price and quality this is the best cable on the market. In terms of issues there aren't any that hurt your experience but there are a few that could make it better. For instance the head of the cable is a larger making it a little difficult to get it into slots on sound bars but it still does fit snug and work great. I think these minor inconviences may bother some but for the price and quality I still think this is the best in the market
AmazonBasics Strikes Again -- High Quality Audio Cable for a Great Price!
July 4, 2017
AmazonBasics strikes again! Amazon has once again been able to produce a high quality audio cable for a great, great price! I realized that I needed a Toslink to Toslink cord after purchasing the Audioengine D-1 DAC/Amp to go with my Audioengine A5+ speakers. I needed a cord that I could connect between my computer and the DAC and I didnt want to send the audio through the usb port. This cord has been working out perfectly thus far! The cord feels sturdy, well made and of a high quality and it cant be beat for the price!
QUALITY DIGITAL AUDIO CABLE
April 28, 2017
These are good quality optical digital audio cables. The plugs fit perfectly into the sockets on my CD recorder. I also like the expanded diameter of the cable, feels more like an audio cable rather than a tiny fragile piece of glass.I'll buy more of these when I need more.Good music to you!
Strong, flexible, and a perfect length.
March 26, 2017
I bought this cable to replace the extra thin one that came with my Sony sound bar. With the old cable, my wife complained about voice sync being off. With this cable, I haven't heard any complaints! The cable shielding is thick, but flexible. The ends of the cake feel durable and reliable. The length is perfect to go from one side of my 65 inch TV to the middle of my entertainment center without tugging or being exposed. Overall, a great and affordable choice.
Good cable if its not a tight spot
November 18, 2016
I got the product pictured, not any "smaller" version. Other reviewers are correct that if you have a tight spot for this connector, they are a bit large. In my case though on the back of my TV and my soundbar there was tons of room, so no issue, no tight angles for me either (not good with an optical cable to have a sharp angle). It feels like a decent cable and I don't feel like I had to be as careful with it as I did those cables with tiny wire. I know the wire inside is tiny but these have a good size rubber outing about as thick as an HDMI cable. Works great.

Did a lot of research, glad I chose this one
February 17, 2016
My dad likes to listen to the TV on 18 billion decibels, no matter how many times I explain that today's TV's are basically monitors and need audio help. This sound bar was the right price, and it's really good. Took approximately 4 seconds to set up. Can connect my iPhone when I'm hanging out at their house and play music while I putter around the den or kitchen. My dad does complain it's too bassy for him, which I believe given his particular hearing, but overall I think this is a very very sound investment (no pun intended). Easy to use, kind of a pain to use 2 remotes, but without drilling wires and speakers into walls and spending a million bucks, I would highly recommend.

January 10, 2015
Initial problems were resolved. Paul's was very accomodating. My complaint is with the unit. It works well, but it's not exactly a "plug and play." It was a gift for my Mother and I live 1000 away. My brother-in-law installed the unit (he's very, very handy). To get the unit to work properly, a home theatre expert was hired from a local store. It took him 2 hours to get it working right. It does work well.LG customer/technical service? Not only are they not familiar with their unit; but they're not familiar with their own company. We were transferred 5 times...each technician was baffled by the whole affair and each had a delightful accent...barely understandable. The high marks are given for Paul's TV who were very responsive.
Very good unit, w nice effects, but it is not a substitute for a hi fi system.
October 18, 2014
This is the second one I have bought and am satisfied. I have the previous year's model as well. Plug and play. These help increase the tv volume, but don't expect them to be a substitute for using a stereo. It says 300 watts, but my hi fi amp says 100 each side and is greatly louder. Go figure! Problem I have with digital tv is that when I hook my satellite box up to my old 250 watt Adcom amp that powers my Alon tower speakers, there would be a delay. The analog travels faster it seems than the digital. I chose the sound bar solution instead of replacing my entire hi fi system. I originally wanted to use the sound bar as a front speaker system, w/ supplement bass from the subwoofer. The LG sound bar does have an adjustment for delay between it and source, but that created even more echo effect ( delay I assume). So I no longer use my stereo to amplify the tv and or dvd's. The unit does a good job and has many settings, which once in a while I will try, but 90% of the time I just set it on Bypass. The preset eq effects are very good. For late night when you want to hear clearly but do not want to rumble the next room one can select Clear Voice or Night. For 3 D DVD's one can select Virtual to get more of a swirly effect. Overall a good buy, especially when you can find these like I did in the Used column, Like New. Each one I have received for each house has come in great shape, and I have had no problems whatsoever. BTW thus unit comes with a fiber optic cable so do not have to buy an add'l one, just plug it in.
Good Solution
June 24, 2014
We just bought an LG high-def TV, which we placed in an entertainment cabinet. My wife and I often have trouble following the dialog of movies on our TV. The speakers on our new TV face downward from the bottom of the TV, so it projects downward and into the echo chamber of the cabinet. I was looking for a sound bar to solve the problem. The description of this one, made by the manufacturer of the TV included "wireless." A check with LG's tech support confirmed that it was compatible with and would work wirelessly with our TV.I was surprised when I unpacked the unit to find (1) there were two main parts--the sound bar and a separate subwoofer, and (2) the sound bar must be hard-wired to the TV. I know other manufacturers (Bose, at least) make sound bars that do not have a subwoofer, and nothing in the descriptions or photos of this unit suggested it had one. The "wireless" refers to the subwoofer--it works wirelessly. So I actually thought about returning the product. But I hooked it up, and I was pleased that it solved the dialog-following problem. I was able to "hide" the subwoofer in a far corner of the room where it is hardly noticeable. I have built a shelf above the TV in the entertainment cabinet to hold the bar, which now projects into the room. I was able to synch the off/on button for the bar to work with the off/on button of the TV. Although this is not quite what I was expecting, it has solved our problem.
Great sound, great features....short cord and tight wall mount.
November 13, 2013
First, installation: I used the included wall bracket to mount the unit above my TV. I had some trouble getting the prongs on the back of the unit to seat properly in to the bracket because there isn't much clearance between the bracket (i.e. it's very low-profile). This has the effect of causing the power cord to "bunch" as it turns 90° fromt he back of the unit, and I had to press harder than I was comfortable with to get it to seat. The optical cable doesn't have this problem because the connection is recessed. The power cord is pretty stubby, around 4 feet. The included optical cable is a little longer, but not much. If you don't have power very close you will have to get creative.Next, setup: Super easy. I turned it on, the sub paired with no issues, and I was cranking Metallica loud enough to rattle windows from my tablet via Bluetooth in less than 2 minutes. The sub is behind some shelves about 6 feet from the bar.Everyday use: this unit has really enhanced the sound quality of what I *thought* were high-quality in-TV speakers. It's a night and day difference. The pseudo-surround mode is a great choice for movies, as is the bass-boost option (dumb action movies like Pacific Rim or Transformers sound awesome). The speech-enhancement mode is also fantastic, because losing what people are saying seems to always be the problem with watching TV at a lower volume - not a problem anymore.Overall I'm really happy with the unit, and only knocked it down from 5 stars because of the bracket, and the fact that having to force it in makes me a little uncomfortable. For a sub-$200 investment (my other option was a $400 5.1 system with a receiver) I am very pleased. I would say that this does about 80% of what a true surround system would do with almost no work, at least to someone who isn't an audiophile. I would recommend this in lieu of running cables and the added clutter of extra speakers. It's a very simple solution to getting better sound out of your TV.
Great Space Saver - Excellent Sound
October 21, 2013
We bought this LG Sound Bar System to go with our 47" LG TV and to replace the Sony Surround system that we no longer had room for. There are two BIG plusses over going to a more conventional system. A. The sound bar takes up a lot less room and fits either in front of our TV on the TV stand, or on one of the shelves below. It can also be wall mounted along with the TV or by itself. And B. It has a wireless sub woofer, which I view as a big plus because there are already too dang many wires involved in our A/V system. Even though we have it sitting next to the TV stand, the wireless function allows it to be placed anywhere in the room within reach of an AC outlet. As for the sound, and of course this is what really matters, it is superb. Crisp, clear highs, full rich and natural sound in the mid range and great bass without being muddy. The subwoofer's output can be easily adjusted with the accompanying remote to suit your tastes. And speaking of the remote, aside from the volume control being, in our opinion, on the wrong side of the remote, it is nevertheless small, uncluttered and simple and has some limited control for LG TVs, including off/on.It also has BlueTooth connectivity and I was with able to make a connection with my iPad almost instantly, no fuss, and stream music from my iPad. It also has a headphone output although we do not use it for headphone listening.A final note, regarding the size, this LG Sound Bar is not the one recommended for the LG 47", but that makes no difference. The next size up and the one that is recommended costs more than a $100 more and I cannot believe it will sound any better.Overall, I rate it 4 Stars, but you need to know that a 4-Star rating for a product in this price range is as good as it gets. It very definitely compares favorably with our Sony surround sound system that cost 4 times as much. It would have to somehow be several maginitudes better to rate that extra star.

Large Plug Will Not Work with All Devices
June 30, 2017
I bought this to use with a Sennheiser RS 175 transmitter, and the plug is too big to use with that particular device. The opening on the transmitter port is too small to allow the big plug on the Blue Rigger cable to seat fully. If you have a Sennheiser device, just use the digital audio cable that comes with it. It seats fine and works very well. The Blue Rigger is a really well-made cable, but I had to dock one star because the oversized plug will not work with all applications.
Great cable. Too thick of rubber on the heads though
January 11, 2017
The cable quality is amazing. My only complaint is that the heads of the chord are so thick that it made it near impossible to plug them into my audio device. The input on my audio device is right next to a plastic corner. If you have the same thing, you will have to grind down the rubber on the head of the cable
Good purchase, priced well
May 5, 2016
Pros: Good length, solid feel, thick jacket, good end connector fittingsCons: Despite the pros, it still gives off a cheap, "made-in-China" vibe because they areI used this in-wall to connect Samsung LED-LCD TV (audio out) to Pioneer amp (audio in). It provides the same or similar quality as my shorter Monster optical audio cable. Overall I'm pleased with the product and the quality of the audio.

December 23, 2015
Sounds terrible there is a reason the ones at bestbuy cost 50$ for 6 feet lol. 50ft is just too long for this type of cord at high volumes without a premium cord. If you dont crank it (whats the point of theater systems) then it sounds fine. If your a real audio head you will know what im talking about.Update: After reinstalling my drivers and updating it seems the sound is much better now all issues i was having are gone.
Blue Rigger, Digital Audio Cable.
April 10, 2015
This product performed well, as specified. I only had a problem, where to plug the ends in on the Samsung sound bar and my Samsung HDTV.It wasn't until I realizes, unlike other connections, these outlets, were covered by a flip lid, So you have to push against that tiny door, to plug it in,I would have saved time, had the Sound Bar, been more descriptive. But Knowing they were there, it was just a matter, of, lining them up and pushing them in place. So far, it's done the job well, in boosting my Sound, I'd recommend it to anyone, buying a Sound bar, just as I found out, in some one, how posted a review on his sound bar. Thanks to him, I'm enjoying my new sound system.I just gave it four stars, at present, as I haven't had it long enough, to see how it will work in the long run, but I suspect, it will continue to be a good buy.
Awesome. Edited:

I had a very basic need for this cable. Take my xbox one digital out to my x41 headset box soon to be replaced with some astro a40s. There is zero input lag despite being 15ft, but anybody who did thier research will know that optical is fast and 15ft is nothing. Thr cable is very nice. Braided and sturdy. Connectors popped in with some hesitation, but I will take a snug fit over a loose fit any day. Overall,if I need some more optical cables, I know where to go.Edit: 12/25/14- so today my x41 Rd base started acting very wierd. Thr lights would keep changing from Dts to Dolby digital Pl iis repeatedly with crackles in between. I isolated thr incident to the cable. Thr cable does not like to fit into the xbox securely. It will sit in R back of the xbox and wiggle around. If it wiggles around or gets itself St thr right angle, I only assume thr light retracts and starts sending a bad signal. If you place your xbox and realign thr cable and make sure it doesn't move and comes straight out of thr xbox, thr problem resolves itself. I will try taking some tape and putting it around the connector to make a tighter fit. I confirmed it was thr cable because my other much cheaper and shorter optical cables pushed in very smoothly and we're very snug in thr xbox. I honestly think it is just a defect on one side of the cable because the other end is just fine and fits snug in every socket I tried.

Works okay
September 12, 2017
Works okay most of the time but I hear distorted sounds over a longer period of time. I am yet to figure if that is coming from the speaker or due to the wire. That said, it's good quality so hopefully I will find and fix the issue soon
Works Good. Would buy again

For some reason I have to reset the cable connection about once a month but I don't know if it's this cable or the adapter it's plugged into.Regardless it does it's job and I get nice clean audio into my surround sound system. Love it.

I'm giving this 4 stars even though I ended up returning it. For some reason I couldn't get any sound from my TV to my receiver. I thought I had a bad cable so Amazon sent me another one the next day --- EXCELLENT customer service --- but still it didn't work. So I am going to assume it's something either with my TV or receiver and not the cable.
REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE CAPS!!!!!
December 17, 2016
The cord works great but comes with clear plastic caps on the ends and if you're like me and never owned an optical cable before you may not have any idea what the ends are supposed to look like. I ordered a longer one months ago, plugged it right in no problem. Never had an issue with sound. Bought the 1 meter cord and one end kept popping out. I thought it was the plug and returned it, got another one. Same thing. Couldn't understand why the longer cord worked and the shorter one didn't. (Still don't. Even when nothing was pulling on it the shorter one just didn't stay plugged in.) Finally, after reading reviews I realized all of them, even the ones currently working in my house with no problem had those caps on them. Oops. LolNo packaging = No instructions = One star removed for not telling consumers how to properly use the product.
Good Works and great price

fine. no complaints. but I prefer cables that are colored. I bought one with blue at each end for same price. It makes it easier to keep track of which is going where if color coded. personal preference.
Large plugs almost too big
January 24, 2016
These AmazonBasics optical audio cables work fine and look like good quality, but be aware that the plugs are rather large and the cables rather thick. For connecting one end to my Klipsch soundbar it made for a tight turn. Works, but probably not ideal. Note in picture attached, AmazonBasics plug on left, factory cable I replaced because it was too short on right. Other picture shows how cable had to be bent to fit the space.

I love the sound from Bluetooth phone connection but I have still been unable to connect to tv, which was the purpose. My tv seems to be 1 yr too old. No Bluetooth, no optics. Local Radio Shack can't even help. Can u please direct me to a fix? Simply put, I need an optic to hdmi conversion solution.
Decent sound but has some quirks
May 10, 2015
I first bought an RCA Sound bar to use with my new LG LCD TV which totally blew in 6 weeks. This sound bar was easy to install. I hooked it to the TV's Optical Digital Output. It automatically paired with the wireless Woofer and has never lost contact. It provides fairly good sound and is definitely louder than the TV's speakers but at max volume, would in no way could be considered "Loud". I like the fact that it comes on when my TV (also LG brand) is turned on. I find the auto-off feature to be a bit annoying. I play a lot of streaming movies and TV shows. If I leave the room for a few minutes and the video ends, the sound bar very quickly shuts off. I wish I could increase the time interval and make it a bit longer. About 6 months after I started using it, the volume of the sound bar started defaulting to a very low volume when first turned on. It used to come on at whatever volume level it had been previously set. This makes the auto-off even more annoying since I not only have to turn it back on, but I have to readjust the volume level.I have used the BT feature to play music and audiobooks from both my iPhone and my iPad. When using my iPhone as the source, I have to place the phone almost level with the sound bar, have the bottom of the phone pointed directly at the sound bar and not touch the phone at all. Otherwise it skips. I don't have as many problems when I use the iPad, so maybe it is just that the iPad has a stronger bluetooth output? I will say that the pairing of the sound bar with my Bluetooth devices is very fast and I have never lost signal or had to resort to deleting the sound bar from my deice and then repairing it like I have had to do with other other Bluetooth speakers.I wish the text display were larger. I use this in my bedroom and it is approximately 14 feet between the sound bar and head of my bed. I am unable to read ANYof the letters on the display. When switching from "LG Opt" signal to "Blue tooth" I have learned to keep pressing the "Function" button until I see a listing with only two characters. Since the Bluetooth mode is shown as "BT", and all other modes are longer than 2 character, it is easy to find Bluetooth. To switch back to the TV, it is really easiest to turn off the sound bar AND TV, then use the TV remote to turn both back on. This automatically puts the sound bar in "LG Opt" mode. One thing that is strange is that even though both my sound bar and TV are LG and the TV remote will turn the sound bar on and off, it won't adjust the volume of the sound bar.I'm not sure that the wireless woofer does a whole lot. I placed it on the left side of the room about 4 feet from my bed. I have tried playing around with the different "modes" for the Bluetooth and don't see a lot of difference between them. Adjusting the woofer volume is very awkward. You first press and release the "Woofer Volume" button and then use the same volume button used for the sound bar volume. It would be nice if there were some feedback to make sure you are actually raising or lowering the Woofer Volume. After doing this, I'm never sure if the volume button is going to work on the Woofer or the Sound Bar.Overall, this sound bar has excelled quality of sound but could use more quantify. If you are looking for a good sound bar, this will do. If you are looking for great sound bar, I advise you to keep looking.
keep this as last option on your list
July 17, 2014
The product is okay. I like being able to stream my songs from my phone to the sound bar wireless. The remote is not compatible with my TV. Neither is the remote sensor. I've a cable remote, sound bar remote and a dvd remote (first world problems).Sub woofer is good. It's also wireless. For 2.1, I think the price is steep. We can find other better products for the same price. And, the sound bar goes mute for a second or two many times in a day. And LG hasn't provided any fix for that yet.
Very Satisfied With This Soundbar
March 22, 2014
It is a very nice sound bar. It puts out great sound and have a nice varitey of audio effects that you can choose. It is easy to set up and came with a digital audio cord. The subwoofer is not connected to the soundbar and the only wire for it is the power cord. Also apparently you can use your TV remote on the soundbar but I have not used this feature because im changing the audio setting or the bass depending on what I'm using it for. If you are able connect the soundbar without using a digital cord, I have not figured it out yet. It would be much nicer if you were able to connect wirelessly to the TV. The subwoofer is not as strong as I would like for some music but overall not bad. I would recommend this if you want a good soundbar and a decent subwoffer. It elevates your movie experience and you become immersed in whatever you are using the soundbar for.
Sounds Good but doesn't work with my LG TV
February 7, 2014
I have an LG 47LM6200 TV approximately 2 years old. I bought this LG sound bar expecting it to work well with the LG TV. It does connect with an optical cable (included) and sounds good. But you cannot control the volume of the sound bar using the TV remote. So you have to have yet another remote to use this sound bar.I had tried to ensure that this would work with my TV before ordering it but wasn't able to find anywhere a compatibility list. I verified that the TV and sound bar had the same optical audio connection. Eventually after I couldn't get the remote to work I was able to figure out that the TV has SimpLink via the HDMI INPUT cable (it flows backwards) and this sound bar is only controlled via Sound Sync which is an auxiliary IR output. Why LG didn't design this to respond to the same volume IR codes as the LG TV is beyond me.So check your LG TV to make sure it has Sound Sync if you want to be able to control this sound bar from your TV. If so then this model should work well. For my 47LM6200 TV I have returned this and bought the NB3730A which has SimpLink interface. It works well and adjusting the TV volume controls the sound bar volume. It is about $40 more because it includes a web interface for Netflix etc. which I don't need because I bought the Smart TV that already has that. So I'm disappointed with LG's design but happy with the way that this unit works with my TV.
LG Electronics NB3530A Sound Bar System
October 21, 2013
At first, I was blown away by the sound that this sound bar produced. But after a couple of days, the sub-woofer would intermittently lose the wireless signal. I thought maybe the sub-woofer was too far from the sound bar so I placed it closer but it continued to lose the signal. Then I placed it right next to the sound bar and still had the same problem so I returned it. One of the reasons I buy from Amazon, is that they have a great return policy. I could not program this particular sound bar on my xfinity remote control.

So this cable is pretty weird it will fit into the plug of my computer but when i try to plug it into my sound bar it just hangs loose and has no tension holding it together. Beware of this cable as other reviews have also posted this cable does not fit all optical sockets. Strange i have never had this problem with other cables i have owned.
Modification May Be Required If Using With Visio 50" LED TV
October 23, 2016
I purchased the 15' BlueRigger Digital Optical Audio Cable to connect to my receiver, a Visio 50" LED TV. The TV is wall mounted, and its optical digital port is accessed from the rear of the set. The port resides alongside the HDMI ports under a "shelf" perpendicular to the rear of the set. Meaning, to plug the optical audio cable in, it must enter the port from below the shelf, and parallel to the screen. Unfortunately, this cable would not "latch-in". It would almost make connection, but fall out without clicking into the small port opening(socket). Close inspection showed that the soft rubber shroud at the cable end was too large in diameter to allow the cable terminal to fully enter the socket. Carefully trimming away 1/4" of the shroud allowed the terminal enough clearance to engage in the optical audio port, and let the terminal "clicked in". Function of the cable has been fine, but unless you are prepared to make this modification, and are trying to use with a similar Visio TV, you might want to consider a cable without such a generous rubber shroud.
Some Issues
June 29, 2015
Locking nubs were too large and would not seat in my equipment until I took a file to them and removed a few thousands. They go in and out just fine now. The three footer I ordered prior to this six footer is still stuck in my TV optical outlet. I will have to get some large pliers and really pull to get it loose as I did not file down the nubs on this cable.
Cable works, good sound, poor connection to device
February 12, 2015
Cable works, sound is as expected. I'm giving 3 stars, because as of now everything is fine. I hope not to experience this, but I expect the connection to fail after some time. Plugging in doesn't provide a solid snap connection, as my audiovox & sounbard included cables have. With just a gentle touch the cable becomes unconnected. If it still has a solid connection after a year, i'll up to 5.

December 15, 2014
It's a toslink cable, so it's either going to work or not work, right? I used mine to connect a Vizio TV to my amplifier. The Vizio end of the connection is recessed, and the cable comes with a thick soft blue/black grip at the end, which prevented me from pushing the cable all the way into the TV plug to make it lock. I fixed this by carving out one side of the cable-end grip with a pocket knife. Not a huge deal, but thinning or removing these grips alltogether would make the product more universally applicable.

Works?
October 10, 2017
I may not be the best person to write a review. As far as length of cord and ease of use it is good. Fit into the openings, etc. as expected. We needed it to hook to an adapter for a bluetooth headset 3.5 mm jack and our 4K TV didn't have one. Overall our TV to cord to adapter to jack on headset didn't work. All we got was white noise. My belief is that the headset isn't compatible with the 4K. The fact that I got white noise, to me, meant that the cord was working. So, yeah, it works.
Large plug
August 15, 2017
This is a very good quality cable. That being said, it didn't work for me because the plug is so large. I had a fairly small space to connect it and the plug is large and cable fairly stiff. Just be careful that it will actually fit.
Works, but cable weight causes connectivity issues
March 17, 2017
Although the cables work, they are very thick and heavy. If your device has an optical port facing out (not down), the weight of the cable pulls it slightly out of socket, causing audio loss. I fixed the issue by running the wire through a clip above the port on my TV to lift the weight of the wire off the plug, but other optical cables do not have this issue.
Good quality, doesnt secure in the slot
March 5, 2017
The cable keeps unplugging from the tv. The cable does not click in and just sits in the slot. A tiny pull will make it fall out. Other theb that good quality and works great
Did not fit.
March 1, 2017
They would not fin into my Vizio 60 in 4k TV, It may be something with the VIZIO's because I see now that other people have had the same issue. Other than this major issue the cable appeared to be of good quality. Very thick cable.

I typically buy "Amazon Basic Cables" and I am usually very pleased with them. This one did not work out for me and Amazon quickly refunded my money. Cable would not stay connected at either end. I purchased this one instead and I am very pleased with it. Will still buy "Amazon Basic Cables" in the future.https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LT2C5W/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_33

Purchased but couldn't get it to work
June 27, 2016
2014 LG Electronics NB3530A sound bar audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. This sound bar is slim, stylish, sleek, and weighs ~17.7 lbs. Approximate dimensions are 37.4" x 2" x 2.8". A wall mount is also included. This system will also allow you to connect multiple audio devices at once, as well as wirelessly stream music from your smart phone for an additional fee.Unfortunately, we purchased this product but couldn't get it to work. We returned it and didn't bother to get a replacement.
Broke within two months
July 2, 2015
This looked like a good deal but has been a nightmare. Bought this back in April and by the end of June the subwoofer no longer connects with the soundbar. Been trying for two weeks to get warranty service and LG customer service has been one problem after another. I like the design, and it matches my TV, but the quality is just not there, and the bad customer service makes it worse. I am still hoping to get it fixed but not hopeful and, after this experience, I would strongly recommend AGAINST buying this one. Better to spend a little more and not have to deal with all these problems
Out of the box it hooked up easily and was the right size for our entertainment system
June 26, 2015
My wife and I were caught up in the sound bar craze during Thanksgiving. I bought this product to marry to my Samsung 47" LCD TV. Out of the box it hooked up easily and was the right size for our entertainment system. However, when I went to adjust the settings the sub had a very distinct clicking sound during every beat. We were disappointed to say the least. Returning the product was easy.
Good for Small Rooms, but not your Living Room
December 15, 2013
This system is designed more for a small room and doesn't not work so well for a living room. My living room is about 18 by 20ft and you can barely hear any bass. When I put this in a smaller room, 12 by 12ft, that's when this thing actually shines. If you are buying this for your living room, don't expect much.
Bluetooth and auto-power off feature is broken
November 9, 2013
There are 2 major bugs with this system. First, as other have mentioned Bluetooth connection is not solid. While playing music through iPhone 4s, HTC Evo, music would skip randomly. But this was not a big issue for me as I didn't really get it for playing music. The other major issue for me is that it will randomly power off. I have disabled Auto-power on/off feature. So far it happens only when playing video games on PS3 and when PS3 is directly connected to it via optical cable. But that was the main reason for buying this soundbar. There was one more issue that I could fix. Initially, my PS3 was connected to TV via HDMI and I connected soundbar to TV via optical cable. With this setup, sound would break or was not very clean. After some research, I connected soundbar directly to PS3, and it sounded perfect, literally. With these major issues, why would I give it 2 stars instead of 1? Because when it works it sounds really good. Watching movies been flawless. It is not very expensive. So if someone is going to use it only for movies, then this might be a good option.I am hoping a firmware update will fix it one day but I would not recommend this to anyone though.
Bluetooth and PORT.IN connection fail
October 16, 2013
I read a lot of reviews before I bought this item and I thought this sound bar was great. However, it just doesn't work(properly)!Everything before testing the Bluetooth is great. Nice package; nice looking; sound was nice! BUT the skips/stutters issues did happen with my cellphone (HTC ONE). There were also "rustle" noise when the music is playing. To make sure, I also test another android phone from my friend. Same thing happened: rustle and skips (btw, i was only 2-3 ft away from the soundbar). I didn't test any iOS device but i won't change a phone for the speakers, right? Things became even worse with the PORT.IN connection. Horrible high-pitch noise came out when I switched to 3D mode and it didn't stop till I turn off the power. Anyway, this was a disappointing buy and i'm returning it. If you're just looking for some speakers for you tv, this maybe a good choice. But if you wanna use this for your laptop or smartphones, well, GOOD LUCK!

The Cable Ends Are Too Small To Be Retained in My Television
July 3, 2017
This was the last item necessary for the home theater I set up for my daughter. I use this cable to return television sound (decoded by the television by "smart" apps like Amazon and Netflix built-in to the television) to the Yamaha Amp. Within a day of installing this cable, the sound disappeared. Under its own weight, this cable had pulled loose from the Digital Output Interface on her Vizio TV. I finally used gaffer tape (NOT DUCT TAPE) to secure the cable so it will function. Unacceptable for a supposed higher than normal quality product.

Get Adapters!
November 30, 2015
Wanted to relocate my Vizio Sound Bar to the other side of room from Vizio TV. Had heavy interference, because of the loose fit of the connections. Purchased 2 CG/Cables to Go 40016 Velocity Right Angle Toslink Port Saver Adapters. They work great. Now the system is static free! The added expense of $8.64 for the adapters was well worth it!
2 of 3 stopped working
March 24, 2013
These cables are not high quality. The connecters are made of plastic that is too soft and, the connecters don't fit very snuggly. If you are going to stick with digital optical you might want to spend a few extra dollars on cables that are thicker and have metal connecters like 3ft Premium Toslink Digital Optical Audio Cable (S/PDIF). I have just gone back to digital coaxial- they both support all the same digital audio formats. A detailed account of my experience is below along with links to premium digital coaxial cables and components:I bought three of these to try to give digital optical another try. I also got a C2G / Cables to Go 27027 Toslink Digital Audio Splitter (Black) to feed the audio from my VIZIO E3D470VX 47-Inch Class Theater 3D LCD HDTV with Internet Apps which only has optical out. As was the case many years ago, I still find optical audio to be inferior to digital coaxial. The solution above was not working, so I got Toslink-to-coaxial Rohs to convert the audio to digital coaxial. This feeds the coaxial audio through Forza-700 Series 40757 Digital Coaxial Audio Cables (3 M) to a remote controlled digital coaxial distibution amplifier and splitter [google: "Ambery"] and then to my 3 JVC 5.1 digital receivers JVC RX-5060B - AV receiver - 5.1 channel - black. Things were working fine until 2 days ago when I lost audio to the receivers. After some time I isolated the problem to the one BlueRigger Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable (6 feet). Luckily I still had 2 more of these optical cables and one of them got the sound back. So, I ordered a 6ft Premium Toslink Digital Optical Audio Cable (S/PDIF) since I need at least 1 working one. I'm definitely avoiding digital optical as much as possible in the future; unfortunately, my HDTV only has optical out.

Not sure how to rate this product. It seems like a decent-quality cable but I'm not getting any input from the TV to the converter. I need to try another cable to see if the problem is this cable or the TV, or what?

Great build quality but the ends don't fit firmly in most devices.
April 24, 2017
I have purchased other similarly priced cables and have had very good experiences. I purchased 4 of these cables for a new project and when I opened these cables, I was impressed with how sturdy and well made they were. However after trying to install these, it became painfully obvious that the ends are not suitable for many devices. I had 6 different types of devices that I connected to and none of them had any problem with the thickness of the cable causing an issue with turns. But, the ends only clicked in to 1 device firmly and on 2 devices they need help to stay in place.

Bought this to connect my computer to this headphone amp: SMSL SD793-II PCM1793 DIR9001 DAC Digital Audio Decoder Amplifier, BlackConnectors do not push all the way in for either of my devices. They hang out a bit, and any bump will dislodge them. Despite this, the cable worked fine for about a month without issues. However, now my headphones are making an occasional popping noise (every minute or two), and the amp makes an audible click at the same time. I tried another (shorter) optical cable I had lying around and it solved the issue. The spare also actually connects all the way.

The other 3 cables did say amazonbasic on them, but were clearly different optical cables, they looked different, they were less thick and generally felt less sturdy than the one cable I actually got that was the same as what I ordered.Seeing that I ordered 4 of these, and 75% of that order came in as "not-what-I-ordered-or-expected", I would say this is kind of lame.Functionality wise, they probably work (haven't gotten to hook them up).

Do not recommend! Sound Bar stopped working after 18 months
August 31, 2015
We purchased this sound bar system in February 2014. We opted for LG based on positive reviews and with the thought that it would be most compatible with our LG smart TV. This past week, after only 18 months of use, the sound bar no longer turns on. We have tried multiple outlets and cannot power up the sound bar. The sound bar was plugged into the same surge protector power strip that powers the rest of our electronics and they are all fully functional. We are very disappointed with the quality of this product and will not purchase another LG.
A lemon
May 19, 2015
New NB3530A stopped responding to the remote control after 2 weeks. Called LG, they mailed a second remote control, that did not solve the problem. Called LG again, they authorized shipment via FedEx for repair. LG repair summary stated unit totally non-functional upon receipt, repaired and returned within about a week together with third new remote control. The unit functioned normally for 2 more weeks, then once again stopped responding to any of the three remote controls.

This cable has a really bad toxic odor when you cut open the sealed bag. The strong chemical smell irritated my nose and throat. I had to air it out for two days before using it.Though it appears to be a decent quality cable, it does not work in the application for which I had bought it.What was not obvious from the item description is that it is not eligible for return, so I'm stuck with it. Engineering issue
January 17, 2016
Bought this cable looking at the great reviews. Had good experience with bluerigger before, but this cable is not. The loose fitted connector will cause the decoder to produce occasional noise in the audio, due to light leaking perhaps? I didn't know this was possible until I switched this cable out with an old cheap optical cable that came with a sound card. The cheap looking one fitted perfectly and produced crackling free sound. Nailed the problem down to the cable. This one needs to go back to the drawing board, good looking quality but cheap in actual use... I use it to connect an apple tv to a 5.1 wireless sub/sat soundbar.
