not bad for FDA spec's
March 5, 2017
My tap water here in Sylacauga Alabama measured a TDS value of 091, not bad for FDA spec's. The zero water filter reduced it to 000 as expected. I have another zero water filter, a smaller pitcher which i've been using for nine months. It gets used every day, a lot. The filter in it needs to be replaced but still filters the water down to 025 TDS. Tap water left in a cup over night tastes pretty bad in the morning. The filtered water in the same cup overnight tastes the same!I recommend everyone read about the TDS value and what it is measuring.
Works great!
July 29, 2015
I'm on well water, with a water softener (old, possibly not working 100% correctly). My tap water tests at 315ppm with the included tester. This filter works wonderfully, the purified water testing at 0ppm :)I was concerned the filter would degrade particularly quickly due to the high Solids content of my tap water, but over a month later I'm still showing 0ppm. I realize this might not be a long enough test, but my water quality improved so dramatically I had to post a review when i remembered about it!*edit* I've been living with this filter for about 4 months now, and my fondness for it hasn't diminished :) I likely DO need to change my filter more frequently than most people will, and I believe I've hit on the solution to the "air bubble" problem I'm seeing mentioned.......The first time I replaced my filter, I ran into this. I left water in the pitcher as I replaced the filter, and then tried to fill as normal. Air bubbles galore, and of course that would happen. It's just physics, with the drain hole at the bottom blocked, the air in a new filter can't be pushed out the bottom.I've replaced 2 more filters since then, always completely emptying the pitcher before I install the new filter. No more bubble trouble!
Largest and Cleanest Filtration Unit that produces the Best-Tasting Water Available!
January 15, 2015
I have lived in a rural area for most of my life, and as much as I love tap water, there are so many impurities in it that it is sometimes unhealthy to drink. I have purchased and tried numerous water filtration systems and pitchers and this by far has been the best. I carry a water bottle around with me daily, so it is important to me to have clean, chemical-free water.I was looking for a large capacity water dispenser for my fridge to lessen the number of times that I would need to fill it, as well as a dispenser that filtered out as much of the metal and other chemicals that were present in my water. I have had previous chemical testing done, and the TDS meter showed similar results before filtering my water. My TDS meter read an average of 240 when I first tested it. After filtering the water through this filter, it read 0.00! Now, a month later, it is now reading 0.04, and still tastes wonderful.I have previously tried Brita pitchers, The PUR fridge unit and pitchers, as well as faucet units that fit onto the kitchen sink faucet. While this filtration unit takes by far the longest to filter all of the water through, it produces the cleanest tasting and tested water in my home. It is also the largest capacity that I can find anywhere. Even though it is a larger unit than others, it is tall and slender and easily fits in my fridge without being cumbersome. With the filter recycling program and all of the added benefits that I just mentioned, this is by far the best, and now my favorite water filtration system.Addition to my review:I emailed customer service about where the parts are manufactured for this 23-Cup Water Filter, and this was their response:"There are components made in China and are assembled in Mexico."
This is a real review! I am not involved with zero water in any way, other than that I now own a zero water product.
October 10, 2014
I will start off by saying that I have an M.S. degree in Environmental Science. This has absolutely no bearing on this review, except that I completely understand the processes going on with the zero water filter and the concept of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).I did not purchase the zero water for any altruistic purpose. I did it to save money. I used to by bottled spring water because I grew up in a rural area and never acquired a taste for city water. I hate the taste of chlorinated water. I was looking for an alternative to expensive, and yes wasteful, bottled water that would taste good enough to drink.I did a lot of research before deciding to buy this, and I am glad that I did. The result is that I love the choice I made. I am going to discuss my experience with this product and also respond to some of the other reviews that I read here.So here we go:1. The product is solidly made. I have owned this for five months and have had no problems with leakage from the filter (I am on number two) where it connects to the water reservoir or any other mechanical problems.2. When I first set the product up, I did neglect to watch the O-ring around the filter when I tightened it. I saw a few drops of water leak out around the seal, realized what had happened, and screwed the filter on making sure the O-ring was secure and tight. This was complete user error and had nothing at all to do with the product. I mention it so that if you are just starting out, you do not make the same mistake.3. It does take awhile for the water to filter through. When I first got this and after replacing the filter, I would say it took about twenty to thirty minutes to filter enough water to fill the container. After filling it the first time, I have just gotten into the habit of pouring water in when I take water out. It is easy and gives me a constant supply of water.4. The life of the filter is highly dependent on the water quality from your tap and how much water you use. I was worried that I would end up spending more on filters than bottle water costs; it did not end up being a problem in my area. The TDS for my tap runs somewhere between about 98 and 140 ppm (parts per million) with an average of around 111 ppm. I have learned this from testing the TDS over time. To test the life of my first filter, I decided never to add water to the reservoir unless it was below 120 ppm. The only time my water gets above this is when their is a big rain storm, so I just worked around the weather. Using this as my guideline, my first filter lasted 71 days. I am on number two, now. Also, I use somewhere between two-thirds to all of the water capacity daily. Way more economical than bottled water!Note: Before purchasing this, I went to the zero water website. They have a section where you can enter your zip code, and it tells you what the average TDS is for your area. For my area, their information was accurate. I would suggest doing this when deciding if this is right for you, especially if the cost of filters is an issue.5. The taste of the water is good. Now, I will say that for the first four or five days the water has a funk to it. I thought it tasted vaguely like when you use purification tablets in water. I was not impressed, but I thought it was better than city water. What I noticed was that after a few days the water tasted better. This happened again when I replaced the filter. I am guessing that when you first use the filter there is some aromatic residue from the filter itself, but it goes away basically after you get through the initial water that you put in. I have super sensitive taste - my boyfriend did not notice the funk at all. He really likes this water, and once the funk goes away, I really like it, too. No chlorine taste! Yay!6. I have read some concerns in the reviews about the pH of the water that you get. I have not tested the pH of the water after it has been treated with the zero water system. However, If the pH is 4 or 5, I am not very concerned about it. The natural acidity of your stomach is around 4 to 5, and drops to somewhere between 1 and 2 when you eat. I have had no problems with an acid stomach, etc. from this product. In fact, the lower acidity may reduce the amount of acid your body has to produce to counteract what you have consumed. I am not sure, but I have not noticed any changes in my physiology in response to drinking this water.Overall, I am extremely pleased with my zero water purifier. It is economical, produces tasty water, and is very convenient. It is slender enough that we keep ours in the refrigerator, so we not only have good water, but we can keep it cool, as well. In five months, mine has more than paid for itself in savings from buying bottled water.Hope this effort helps if you are making the decision as to whether or not this investment is right for you.
How To Make Zero Water Filters Last at Least 5 Times Longer
April 3, 2014
ZeroWater is the reigning King of low-cost water filtration devices.Seeing your water purity go from 150.00 to 250.00 PPM of contaminants, down to literally "0.00" is exciting. No other affordably-priced water filters can do that. I give it "Five Stars" for quality and affordability. However, there is a "dirty little secret" that ZeroWater desperately hopes you don't discover:... how to make their water filters last at least 5 times as long, without sacrificing water purity at all.I will tell you the secret:The company makes its money on selling you $10 replacement water filters that only last about 30 to 50 gallons, and then the water impurity level starts to read more than "0.06" (the company-recommended filter-change interval). For most couples or small families... that means a new $10 filter about every month.Wait a minute! You mean that this filter purifies my tap water from over 150.00 PPM down to a negligible 0.06 PPM,and at that point... while the filter is still operating at OVER 99.9% EFFICIENCY... I'm supposed to discard it,and buy another of your $10 filters? Because 99.9%+ purity is somehow "unacceptable"? That's crazy perfectionism! Here is the SECRET to maintaining a purity rating of under 006 PPM for at least 5 times as long as the projected30 to 50 gallons per filter... to get instead 150 to 250 hundred gallons per filter replacement:Step One: Buy ZeroWater's big 23-Cup Filter Device (Item # ZD-018) for less than $40 on Amazon.Step Two: Buy ZeroWater's 10-Cup Pitcher Filter (Item # ZP-010) for less than $30 on Amazon.Step Three: "THE SECRET CYCLE"...Fill the easy-to-manuever 10-Cup Pitcher at your kitchen sink, and filter your water through it...... and THEN... pour that already-filtered-water (reading 0.00 - 100% pure) into your big 23-Cup Filter thatstays in your refrigerator and let that filtered water be filtered AGAIN.This results in your Big 23-Cup unit's filter receiving ALMOST NO impurities through it's filter. As your 10-Cup Pitcher's filter slowly clogs with impurities and degrades down to the dreaded "006" level...DO NOT DISCARD IT... just keep using it until it gets to 3 to 5 times that "impure"... which is "018" to "030"Note that this is STILL VERY PURE.... even at this level that is quite a bit beyond the manufacturer-recommended point of change... that water is still very pure and drinkable: but don't drink it... instead:POUR that 90%+ purified water from the 10-Cup Pitcher... into the big 23-Cup Filter, and filter it again...down to "000" (or at least well under the "006" level... which is 99% to 100% pure).Your filter in the big 23-Cup unit is thus always receiving water that is almost totally pure to begin with,so IT'S FILTER DOES NOT CLOG OR WEAR-OUT... IT LASTS FOR MONTSH AND MONTHS.When the Big 23-Cup unit's filter finally (after a very long time) reads "006"... you can take thatfilter... and PUT IT IN YOUR 10-CUP PITCHER as the new "pre-filter"... and pop a brand-newZeroWater Filter into your big 23-Cup unit, and you are good-to-go again... for a very long time.Note: You can actually keep going a bit further... the water is still quite pure a bit beyond "006".That's the whole cycle. That's the big secret. That's they way to get 150 to 250 GALLONSout of each $10 filter... rather than just 30 to 50 gallons.Buy 12 ten-dollar filters per year... or 2 to 3 ten-dollar filter per year... the choice is yours.Isn't it brilliant in its obvious simplicity?Happy Filtering!
I Read, I Shopped, I Compared, ZeroWater Review
April 23, 2013
I always do tons of reading over many hundreds of product reviews before I buy. The reviews here convinced me to buy this Culligan FM-15A Level 3 Faucet Filter. I'll get to the ZeroWater in a moment so keep reading. Before I used it I tested my water with a HM Digital ZT-2 Basic TDS Tester, 0-999 ppm Measurement Range , 1 ppm Resolution, +/- 3% Readout Accuracy. This device tests for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), which are the total amount of mobile charged ions, including minerals, salts or metals dissolved in a given volume of water in parts per million (ppm). Before the Culligan filter, my water reads total dissolved solids at 183 ppm. But after I run my tap very slowly through the Culligan to maximize time through the filter rather than force it through with higher pressure/flow rate I shave off a mere 10 ppm giving me TDS at 173. This left me rather disappointed. Granted this is a tiny filter but I expected better removal efficiency than that. Okay the specs don't mention any solids except for lead.So I bought this ZeroWater ZD-023 23-Cup Water Dispenser and Filtration System which has a filter which dwarfs the Culligan faucet mount. This unit even comes with it's own TDS tester to help you determine when to replace the filter. Same water same test within minutes of each other. Where the Culligan removed 10 ppm of total dissolved solids from my water, the ZeroWater filter removed all 183 ppm of TDS leaving me with a nice juicy 0! But like I said, the ZeroWater 5-stage filter dwarfs the tiny Culligan 3-stage faucet mount. Plus with the ZeroWater filter, water creeps through at a snails pace which is why I believe so much gets removed due to the time in contact with the various filter materials.*Culligan* claims it removes cryptosporidium, giardia cysts, lead, and chlorine.*ZeroWater* claims it removes copper, iron, zinc, aluminum, lead, chlorine, chromium-6, mercury, and hydrogen sulfide. Both have NSF International's certification. So do I use both in hopes of removing the 3 that ZeroWater doesn't mention and the other 7 that Culligan doesn't?Culligan costs $17 VS $23 for the 23-cup ZeroWater dispenser and deducts for the value of the included ZT-2 TDS water tester. On a pure value comparison ZeroWater wins. On a quality of water comparison I think ZeroWater still wins. Also 23 cups is a lot of water already filtered and awaiting use. Granted Culligan works as fast as you can open the tap but you loose additional points because the Culligan filter isn't as effective at a higher rate of flow from the tap. So better water isn't gained from this small tap affixed 3-stage filter unit unfortunately.I've used Brita pitchers and Pur tap affixed units in the past and don't like either. Which leaves the ZeroWater ZD-023 23-Cup Water Dispenser and Filtration System winning the comparison by a significant amount when comparing value of product and the quality of the filtered water.Sorry Culligan, perhaps some day I can test your very big very seemingly expensive whole house units. Perhaps it is there where you'll beat the competition eh?**Note: I don't work in the water filtration business. I work in the healthcare industry and the location uses neither of these brands I've compared.

Great product but with one design error
July 17, 2017
Happy to have the product however the top was pretty flimsy. There is a piece of the top.that is supposed to flip up to be able to refill the dispenser with ease but it's held on my loterally the smallest little pieces of plastic.. broke before we even got it in the fridge. The top still fits on ok but it still frustrating. Poor design. The rest of the dispenser is great.
Better than expetced
October 5, 2016
So far this has been a great unit. It's very easy to set-up and the water flavor is excellent. There are a few reasons for the -star rating. First, you fill the upper portion of the container (white section) with water to filter. It takes several minutes for it to filter into the larger blue container. The problem is that the white portion of the container only allows for enough water to fill about a 1/4 of the blue container. It essentially takes about 10 minutes to completely fill the unit. You have to be watching how full it is in the fridge so you don't run out. Secondly, the filter causes some small pieces of charcoal to end up in the white portion of the container. It's not a huge deal since it's caught during the filtration process, but it's a bit creepy when you find black specs. The other issues is the overall size. It's very narrow compared to other units I've seen. It tapers as it goes down the side to attempt to not take up as much room in the fridge. The problem is that it only fits on one shelf due to it's height. It's too narrow to rest anything on top of it, so it actually takes up more room than expected. I would rather it be a bit more rectangular with the ability to at least set left over food containers on top. The other main concern is the cost of replacement filters. Those things are hefty compared to other units. There are no real guidelines on how often they need to be replaced. They do include a little water testing gadget where you want the water purity to not deplete beyond 0.06. However, how long that takes depends on your water and how often you use the filter. Since the initial investment was higher than other units, I'm hoping the the filters are long lasting as well. Other than that, the unit is solid and a good item to have.
One major design issue
November 5, 2014
So we got the Zero Water Filtration system to help use less bottle water and lower the impact on plastic. The water taste fine coming from this filter and it hold more than gallon of water which is very nice. The filter does not sit in a hole you have to twist it into place which gives you the idea that all water will pass through the filter. The one design issue I have is the lid the worst part. ZeroWater spent money and time designing the Dispenser and Filter system but then totally forgot spend anytime developing a lid. IF you are lucky enough to the keep the lid in place thank your lucky stars. It is a totally miss, but we can live with that for now. If you purchase one of these just know that the lid will not stay in place [no locking system].
It really does live up to its claim, but small caution.
August 27, 2013
I bought this because we purchased a new refrigerator without a water dispensing system, and seeing the previous owner of the house had many filtration systems on the well water that aren't working, I wasn't keen to drink that either. My well water TDS was a 175 (sounds good, tastes awful - to me at least). So I bought this, and it was much bigger than expected. It will need space folks! Also, please note, when filling its going to take a while. 5 step filtration is not quick. I fill the top and let it filter. Do this twice and it will be mostly full. Another note, upon coming home from a 2 week vacation I noticed their was some MINOR mold on the lid, and the water tasted a little bit worse than normal, nothing bad though. Quick scrub and she's back working. So wash it regularly!UPDATE: 9/17/13The pitcher has been working away and still tastes like day one. A purchase well made.UPDATE: 11/8/13:Everything is till going smoothly, although I will admit the taste has declined a bit. The TDS reads between 3-4 so it is time to get a replacement (Replace at TDS 6 is recommended). Last week at a store that deals with Bedrooms, Bathrooms and more I noticed they were selling replacement filters in a 3 pack I believe for around $30 ish. Don't quote me on that number but it was a good discount. When it comes time to replace the filters, go and check for them there.
Could have been a 5!
April 19, 2013
The only reason I didn't give the 23 cup dispenser a 5 is that it's top doesn't secure to the body! Has to be held on by tape! The quality of the taste is superior to any system I have ever used! That is why I kept it! I use this as a backup to the 10 cup ZeroWater dispenser purchased at the same time. Previous reviewer mentioned leaking from the filter. I experienced that myself on first addition of water. The way to resolve that is to briefly wet or soak the rubber o ring on filter in water. Hand tighten per instructions. Add maybe 32oz of water to reservoir and let it drain until done. Then hand tighten again. This allows the gasket to moisten, seat, and seal properly. Both the 10 cup and 23 cup dispenser test out for TDS as claimed! The taste is unbelievable !! Buy and enjoy! Retired my Brita immediately!!!! Oh, almost an afterthought, make sure your refrigerator shelving is adjustable. Just a liitle taller than most pitchers. Not really an issue with me just be aware you might have to do some rearranging. I'd check that before adding the water!
Very happy
February 3, 2013
I bought my ZeroWater filter system in April 2012 but didn't really use it unless I ran out of bottled (purified) water. The 000 measurement of the water was nice, but my tap water was 069, and the bottled was 002. I didn't taste a difference between bottled and ZeroWater, and I liked the convenience of having 16oz bottles. Once I discovered the Copco 16.9-Ounce Hydra Bottle, I've said good riddance to buying bottled water. The ZeroWater doesn't have a taste, which is how I like my water.I've had the filter system since April, and although I didn't use it often between April and December, my water is still measuring 000. The filter doesn't need to be replaced until it measures 006.3/16/2013 Update: I've been drinking 32-64 oz of water per day from this dispenser, and the nozzle has started to leak, though I didn't notice until I saw a wet spot on my wood floor beneath it. I've had to put a paper towel under the nozzle and push it back on the counter so that it doesn't hang over the countertop until I need to use it. I still love the water, but the leaking nozzle deserves -1 star, so I'm lowering my review from 5 stars to 4.

Design flaw but overall good concept......
August 30, 2017
While the unit certainly is large enough to serve the my needs, the lids design has turned me off. The two-piece hinged design is flawed and becomes quite annoying when it must be messed with each and every time I fill the unit. I have decided to return this and purchase the 10-cup pitcher instead. Yes, I will have to fill it more often but that will be far less annoying that to deal with this hinged lid that won't stay together.Side note, the filter did a decent job taking into consideration the crappy quality water we have to start with. I wasn't ever able to get a 00 reading but on most days it never read higher than 5. We have city water filled with so much crap that unfiltered it's mirky and has floating white particles. After putting water through through this filter it was clear and tasted better than most bottled water.
Great tasting water but bad nozzle design
November 14, 2016
The water is excellant however the design of the nozzle is horrible.1) The button is extremely hard to push. That means my mother who has arthritis in her hands is unable to use it without pain. When she is having a bad arthritis day, she has to have someone else get it for her.2) The placement of the hole where the water comes out is so far to the back that you have to pull this dispenser way out off the countertop or you run water all over the floor. Many first time users make quite the mess.3) If you have younger children in your home that are old enought to help themselves, I doubt they'll be able to use this dispenser without help.Again, the water taste great, no smell and fresh taste but I HATE the dispenser nozzle.
this thing is awesome. But I'm on my fourth filter in as ...
September 19, 2016
Currently the jury is out. When the filter is working right, this thing is awesome. But I'm on my fourth filter in as many weeks. At this point, note that the replacement filters cost each cost almost as much as the intro filter that comes with the dispenser.I think I made the mistake of trying to keep the dispenser in my fridge at first, and ofc kept letting the door smack it when it the door closed. They do warn that impact on the filter can break it. I think the literature talks of "dropping it on the floor", but I am certain that letting the fridge door slam into it does the same thing. But, since I moved the dispenser onto the counter, I've had to replace the filer, too.I'm suspecting the filters are intentionally super fragile to increase sales.
Filters Great, but Lid Needs Help.
September 6, 2016
Great quality filter and definitely holds a lot of water with the large container! Biggest complaint is the quality of the lid. Very flimsy, and falls apart easily. Pretty much just sits on top of the container, and does not latch or close tightly. I'd suggest keeping it away from anything that might get bumped (to prevent spillage).
This Pitcher is Unhinged
January 8, 2016
I understand the theory behind controlling manufacturing costs, however, the companies who make plastic pitchers (it's not only ZeroWater) use the absolute bare amount of plastic in construction - to the point of adversely affecting quality. The depth of the lip on the lid is a whisper (thank goodness for gravity) and the hinges on openings in the lid look like hinges but are so small and so fragile that it looks like they are made under a microscope. I just got this pitcher. I love the capacity, I love the filtration system, I love the ppm meter, but I noticed immediately that one of the microscopic nibs that passes for a hinge was missing (I have straight pens that are larger). Now I have to rely on gravity more than ever to hold the lid in place. Why make something so delicate that is destined for every day use? Cost. It overrides design obviously - the bean counters are definitely in control on this one. I like the pitcher but not the lack of robustness. I won't return because I hand-washed the entire thing as per instructions and installed the filter before I realized the molecular-sized hinge pin was missing. Good concept - poorly executed. Now I have to use and compensate for a broken hinge every time I fill it. I would take a picture of the hinge but I don't have an electron microscope.
Too Awkward
August 24, 2015
We use a lot of water, and I thought I would replace two of my ZeroWater dispensers with a larger one.First, the ZeroWater filters work well. I have no issues other than an occasional bad smell coming from the filters. This happens far too early, long before they should need replacing, but that is the filter, not the dispenser. The dispenser is almost too large, too awkward. The top doesn't seem to snap on correctly like the smaller ones, should you ever separate the two top pieces... well good luck getting them back together.I wish it was shaped so that it could have a handle for pouring. It's the one disadvantage about having a large dispenser like this, is because you need lots of water, but you'll be forever it seems, holding whatever you are filling, under a push button dispenser.

Disappointed - Find another Water Filter System
October 3, 2017
Disappointed - Received ZeroWater 23 Cup Dispenser about 30 days ago. Checked water at time of receipt and the meter showed 006 which according to the instructions says to replace the filter. Followed instructions to clean and dry no change, still 006. Sept was a busy month with move and hurricane, checked again yesterday meter showed 033, today is 126. Called ZeroWater customer assistance to review and got a well we can't check your issue from receipt now but we could go through the process on how to check a new filter (of course I don't have one). Customer rep says if we fill it once a day, the filter should last 30 days and at that time the meter should read near 006 (mine reads 126). Really! Now we can't return it as the return date of Sept 27 has passed. I didn't beg for assistance (new filter or return) as that is not how I think it should be done.
it already had a reading of >40 TDS again (when they recommend replacing the filter at >06)
May 17, 2017
I was very excited about this filter. Our water had a >250 TDS reading and this brought it down to zero. Our water tasted so pure. Why then, such a low rating? After filling this dispenser three times, it already had a reading of >40 TDS again (when they recommend replacing the filter at >06). We were able to get maybe a total of 8 refills on this dispenser before being back up to our 250 TDS. I've read the reviews about about filtering the water with a pitcher and then running it through this; however, it would be nice if I could find a filter this effective that lasted longer (without having to use two filtration systems).
Great for 2 weeks - then Stink water...
October 26, 2016
Great for 2 weeks. The Dispenser itself is fine. The nozzle tends to be a bit messy the way the water comes out - it does not come out in a thin stream, you have to be careful to get the cup well under it or water misses the cup.The BIG problem with Zero Water is the filters. After 2 weeks of reasonable use (maybe a bit longer or shorter depending on your consumption) you start to get a chemical/fishy taste to the water. It still doesn't read a whole lot on the TDS meter, so it is probably just fine to drink, perhaps a bit alkaline, but nobody will drink it because it tastes so bad! If the filters were cheap, it wouldn't be so bad - just very wasteful... But these things are QUITE EXPENSIVE. Add that to the amount of garbage they add to the land fills, and I will be looking for an alternative ASAP!!!Probably best to break down and get a reverse osmosis under sink system.
Not great design ...
July 5, 2016
I have to take the entire top part (the white plastic portions) out of the blue and sit them on top sideways so that the water will filter from top to bottom, otherwise the close fit of white and blue creates suction that does not permit water to go through the filter from the reservoir on top. Others have mentioned this as well, I am just adding that I have seen this as well and have had water sit in the top for over 2 days because it stopped filtering entirely until I started setting the top sideways. Also, it's painfully slow to dispense no matter what I have tried so I have lifted the white portions out and set them aside and poured the filtered water in the blue section directly into a pitcher. It means that this thing isn't particularly useful in comparison to the pitcher style filter (which I have owned plenty of in the past, but as I use a lot of water ...)
Pretty good filter. Terrible dispenser. Filter doesn't last.

First one started leaking from the spigot within a few days. Amazon replaced it quickly. The next one broke at the hinge on the cover when I initially assembled it; the "hinge" is two tiny bumps of plastic. The filter greatly improved the taste of my water, which did in fact test zero after filtering. But after about a month I noticed an odd acidic taste, like a slightly rotten lemon. Tested the water and it was almost 200! Dumped it out and filtered another batch which tested 387, which is higher than what comes out of my tap.Contacted the company and they explained that the approximately 15 gallons I had filtered was an expected level of use.I'm still making up my mind whether this makes financial since as the filters are quite expensive and it seems wasteful to just throw them away so frequently. You can send them back for recycling but have to pay for shipping and these things are heavy after they've been used.
poor mechanical quality although water did taste better

The product worked great for the first 2 months. Then, like most things, the water dispenser slowly began to fail. It filtered 3-cups of water in about 10 minutes. And a month later it took over an hour to filter 3-cups of water. As an environmental engineer, I understand hydraulics, fluid mechanics and water treatment and began running my own series of tests. The total dissolved solids (tds) ranges from 0-3 ppm (compared to 130-175 of tap water in the northern jersey area). Although the county water standards did not exceed any of the regulatory levels it was still important to me that the water I drink has significantly reduced heavy metals, chlorine, fluoride and whatever oxidized cr*p came from the local distribution lines. The taste of the water was to my satisfaction and could definitely notice the difference (taste and visual). However, it is upsetting that this water filter has stooped working after 3 months of use. There are many other filters out there that perform essentially the same task as this product for 1/2 the cost. This can be confirmed with any simple home water test despite the aggressive marketing comparing different proprietary filtration methods. As such, it would make more sense buying a less expensive filter and replacing it once it stops working. Also the lid broke within a week of owning it and the dispenser button can cause severe thumb soreness (not ergonomically designed and can cause a lot of pain if filling a pot to boil pasta). I should have returned it once I saw the lid break but it is too late now.

Will not buy again.

I ordered this 23 cup dispenser, the 10 cup pitcher and replacement filters. A total waste of money, the water tastes like charcoal. The filters leave a mess in the top area we pour the water in to be filtered and the lid hinge broke on the dispenser with minimal use. I have used all kinds of filters/pitchers/reverse osmosis systems in the past and never had water taste so horrible. When I got it I wanted to be able to stop buying bottled water, but the water filtered with this system is only usable for making coffee/tea or boiling noodles.
Dispenses water to a trifle after a month

water tastes great but very slow. After a month the dispenser became extremely slow to a trickle when pushing the button. Gould not clear problem after multiple attempts.
Totally disappointed.

After just a few gallons of water the product has a strong "vitamin c" taste and the water is undrinkable. I am left wondering if someone stole my filter but have tried Brita so I assume they are both worthless junk. My friend Craig has a filter he made himself that has been working over 10 years but I wasted 40 dollars on 5 gallons of chlorine tasting water.

I bought this one for my mom after I bought mine. It barely a month old and her water tastes like sour lemons. I drink way more water than her and mine is fine. Her tester is reading worse than her tap water. Again, I have used mine way more than her and mine still reads zero. I am wondering if the filter was defective???? I know she has not used that much water to have a dirty filter. My sister has had the same issue. 1 out of 3 working is not very good odds. I will monitor my water closely. Love the idea but would return if Amazon would allow.
Don't buy...waste of expensive price tag and company won't do anything for you...

Came as promised. One thing...top broke when checking out the lid. Disappointed with that but otherwise OK. I will also say to prepare for the filtration to be SUPER slow...***Edited to say*** After using for a bit over a month, my recommendation would be DO NOT BUY! The filter started smelling fishy and the water got slimey. Since it is over the 30 day period, I cannot return it, but will say again... DO NOT BUY! Twice the price, slow if at all to filter (like less excpensive name brand filters...qhich I will go baclk buyung because they WORK) and the numbers on the included meter changed from great filtering to garage inside 1day!
Dont buy it !!!#fishguts

I got this just to have grest healthy water, the water at my house was fine I had already installed a under sink filter. I give it one star even know it worked well and did what it claimed to do because it does it for such a short time. I would say at most I filled it 10 to 15 times if that and I'm being generous and after that the water smells like someone soaked the water in a bucket of fish guts. The smell is horrible and it happens all of a sudden it's the worst thing! This is one hell of a way to get people to buy new filters. I don't agree with this way of doing business so I just threw it away I'm not giving them any more of my money.
