It's quicker to prep these for use than it was the old style, and once they're in place, they don't impede water flow quite so much—though they seem to be at least as effective, if not superior. They're also easier to remove from the pitcher when it's time to change them out. Easy to use just unwrap, soak in water for a bit and then install. Requires a little twisting and turning to line up correctly but one installed they work great.Recommended to be changed every 3 months or so but depending on use I can get about 4-5 months out of these filters with the same filtering power. From 43g to 32g ( or something like this, I'm no right next to the boxes as I write this) so yeah, they removed all the original packets, but now my favorite apple flavor is a little light. January 12, 2017 BEWARE: Seller shows a picture of the old style filters in a five pack box on their Amazon page, which fit my old pitcher snugly, which is why I bought them. Yet when you review them you're presented with a photo of the new filters. What I received was five individual unboxed new style filters, which do not fit my old pitcher as well. The filters themselves work well, until you get towards the end of the contents, when the filter slips out of the reservoir. Received the old style filters August 1, 2016 The image for this listing shows the newer style of Brita filters but the package I received was the old style ones. As most people know, the newer ones are preferable because they fit more easily into the pitcher and don't cause the flecks of carbon granules. Now I'm stuck with a few months worth of the old kind, which is aggravating since this is not what was pictured. I am sure these filters work well for someone who ... November 25, 2016 Most filter companies had very good filters in the USA and I think part of the problem is some people are afraid of carbon filters because the see the black come out of the filter after the carbon packs in the filter it will not affect you in any harmful way none of Brita filters are any good. These are Chinese knock-offs, NOT FROM BRITA October 30, 2016 Even though the manufacturer states these are from Brita, they are NOT. The box even states they are not from Brita. The box also states they are from China. I do not trust China's lack of standards in their products, especially products that involve the making or ingesting of food or drinks. Redesigned Filters a Disaster August 28, 2016 I have been happily using Britta pitchers for decades. However, I recently bought my first pack of the redesigned replacement filters and am VERY dissatisfied with their quality.I was delighted to read that they no longer require soaking, but I noticed right away that the filters do not fit snugly into the pitcher system, as the old ones did. I have both a classic full-sized round pitcher and a square "fridge door" model, and this was the same on both. The filter fits loosely into the slots, and it is obvious that water can go around, rather than through, the filter into the tank.I went ahead and tried the filter, but it is clearly the case that the water is not being properly filtered. I can distinctly smell and taste the metals from my old pipes in my filtered water.I am pretty shocked that a company with the sterling reputation of Brita would put such an inferior product on the market. There is no way I will continue to use this inferior product. Don't Buy!!! July 2, 2016 I just opened 2 of the 5 packaged in this last shipment, and if this is the status of all your packages, then it's crap. The new formula for the Maple and Brown Sugar flavor tasted like oatmeal mixed with cheap, off-brand frosting or marshmellow flavoring. I had originally thought mine was just bad in some way, but then I confirmed the product image clearly showed on the box "Classic Recipe" (upper left corner of box), but that is not what Hutshop gave Amazon to distribute.
