One of those lifetime purchases you'll smile about every time you use it.
July 1, 2016
How did I live without this? The local orange store stopped carrying all brass nozzles, of which I had two, but needed another, and then when I saw the video for this one, I though I'd take a chance that it might be a bit better than the generic ones that I've had for 10 or 15 years and work ok, but they're nothing special (they don't leak, anyway). What a difference this nozzle makes. MUCH more flow, much easier to turn on and off, and a serious chunk of brass. It's so nice that someone still gives a crap and makes stuff lilke this. I've got wicked water pressure, so it's nice to to have this thing and be able to make use of it.
Simple and Durable
June 25, 2015
So far this fitting is excellent. Certainly feels hefty. It is tightly machined but still very easy to twist open or closed. The o-ring keeps water from leaking. It doesn't have the variety of a 10-pattern nozzle, but in this case I prefer durability and simplicity over convenience. I can still achieve a range from jet stream to light sprinkle, so it gets most of my jobs done with the same amount of effort.
It did a nice job of removing that stain
June 13, 2015
Buy this and you will not regret it. For full disclosure I will tell you I did buy a highly rated hose nozzle from Amazon and it worked perfectly, but it ended up cracking and I had all of these holes in it and was worthless. Whatever you do, don't buy a plastic nozzle since it can break and crack. With this Dramm hose nozzle you can see why firefighters use brass. It last and can take the abuse of being dropped or of forgetting to turn off the hose over night. I have a large garden, I just planted new grass after having new sidewalks poured, and just overall I use this hose nozzle day in and day out.You can get a light spray out of it. I do that for watering herbs in my garden. However, with my tomatoes and zucchini I give them the full shot of water. It is so effective in spraying out the underside of a lawn mower deck.I had spilled wine on my porch and discovered it last night while cleaning. It did a nice job of removing that stain. The quality and the fittings on this nozzle are first-rate. This has been the best nozzle I have owned. Buy brass and skip the plastic nozzles. You will be glad you bought this Dramm.
Everytime you twist the nozzle your fingers enjoy the quality of its all metal design
April 6, 2015
Everytime I use this, I wonder what possessed me to every buy anything but one of these brass nozzles. Very rugged and will last you a lifetime. The only reason I have purchased more than 1 of these is that I tend to lose them. Everytime you twist the nozzle your fingers enjoy the quality of its all metal design. Want to drive over it with your car? Go ahead, no problem. Forget about it and leave it out in the sun for a month or two? No problem. Have a little back pain and just feel like dropping it on the concrete when you are done? Go for it.This particular one is a little larger than most of the brass nozzles which I've used, but I actually prefer it. Unless you are dying to use some useless spray patterns that the disposable plastic nozzles have - buy one of these.
Simple but high-quality part, exactly what you need from a garden hose nozzle
April 5, 2013
I only regret that I didn't buy this one long time ago (I used to turn on the water and run around my backyard with no nozzle at all).Pros:- This thing is made of a high-quality metal, you can feel that immediately (and it's made in the U.S. by the way)- It's very easy to adjust with one hand and it enables you to stop the water flow when you don't need it.- There are two distinct water spray patterns (see the attached video): (1) powerful water flow (cleans patio very well), and (2) sprinkler-alike one (good to refresh the trees that don't get much rain here in the desert).Cons:- N/A so far
The last garden hose sprayer you will ever by
June 3, 2012
I can't tell you how many plastic sprayers I've been through, from the dollar store cheap-os to the much more expensive fancy ones. And after 1 season at best they all leak. I have finally found one that is going to go the distance. It has a really nice weighted feel to it and turns on and off with just a twist. It doesn't seem to restrict the flow very much, you get a lot of water coming out which is great for the garden or making it shoot a direct jet to clean something. My only concern with it was there really isn't a way to make it put out less water or to very quickly shut it off, so I also bought this with it: Dramm 12353 Heavy-Duty Brass Shut-Off Valve. You can either shut the water off with it, or just open it part way if you want to restrict it. It just twists right on and now I have the best garden sprayer on the block!I feel that these two items are well worth the money and should last a lifetime.

High volume
August 17, 2017
Good quality and last I checked, USA made. I like brass nozzles because they are durable and you can replace the internal rubber washers when the nozzle begins to leak. These are not water saver nozzles, they put out a large volume of water. I also have water saver Nelson and Gilmour brass nozzles and don't see that much difference in quality/performance compared to the Dramm. My new Dramm nozzles are etched with "Made in U.S.A........Made in U.S.A.......,", but no indication that they were made by Dramm.
Dramm 12380 HD Brass Hose Nozzle
July 17, 2017
The end of August 2017 will be two years that it has been on the end a hose out in the desert sun at 107 degrees and down to lows in the twenties, No special treatment other than to unscrew it all the way to clean out any sand or other stuff. It now has begun to dribble a little when closed snug but not pliers tight. Seems like in time all the hose nozzles of this type do this. Might be a good thing if you are prone to closing the nozzle and forgetting to turn the spigot off, Do that too often on a hot day and the hose may bulge or burst. Anyway, that's why I gave a 4 star rating. Over all it does ok and I hate to buy a similar product from China when a set of o-rings every couple of years would stop the dribble if it is a concern to you.
Superior to the common multi-pattern spray guns
December 3, 2014
This nozzle is easily adjustable, provides consistent performance, and does not leak when closed. It does not clog up with mineral deposits or corrode like the cheaper spray nozzles do. Mine is not quite as smooth as expected, but this may improve with continued usage.Beware that the brass this nozzle was machined from contains enough lead that Dramm includes a warning that you should wash after handling this nozzle with your bare hands. This is likely a requirement of California Proposition 65. Consequently, I suggest avoiding drinking water from this nozzle. We did this all the time as a kid, but we never knew the associated health risks. If you are growing tired of replacing the junky multi-pattern sprayers that need to be replaced frequently, then you need to get this item. It appears to be suitable for many years of trouble-free service.
The Colt '45 of Adjustable Hose Nozzles...
August 25, 2013
Simple design but a classic in terms of reliability and performance. This thing will last for years with normal maintenance. The only downside for me was that it did not form a good seal with my hose (brand new, high quality hose, mind you). There was some water dribble from the connection end of the hoze nozzle. I am not sure if a washer or ring was missing or if this item just doesn't come with one inside the female connector, but I fortunately had some new washers in my tool box. I got the right size one in there, put the brass hose nozzle back on, and presto -- fabulous performance with no leaks whatsoever!Other reviewers have pointed out that it takes about five full turns to completely go from jet stream to spray, or vice versa. So that's not meant for quick action, but it does give you some fine control.Overall, this is an extremely well-made item, and it's of solid brass construction with only a couple of parts, so unlike many new-fangled hose nozzles, it's built to last.
Pretty good, but not as good as it could be
August 20, 2013
I go through a lot of garden nozzles and I've been looking for a good brass power-nozzle with no moving parts but have yet to find one. This one has rubber seals in it and in the Florida heat the O-ring in the end of the nozzle blew out after only a few weeks of use. It still can be opened and closed shutting the flow of water off completely, but without the rubber seal it takes a good deal of effort to get it to seal and especially to open it up again. At least it is designed to still function without that end seal and I have gotten more life out of it than I have ever gotten out of the pistol-grip style of nozzle regardless of the price. You can still adjust the spray pattern without the end o-ring. This type of item should last a lifetime, but so far I have not been able to find one built to last forever even though I have owned high quality nozzles in the past (used for industrial applications more than 15 years ago). This is the best I have found so far.
A Trusted Classic
May 8, 2012
I have an irrigation system in my yard that waters almost all of my plants, but I do have a section where the irrigation doesn't reach. I make it a point to put native and drought-resistant plants in that area, but I still need to water specific plants occasionally - like when I plant something new, or fertilize, or the drought goes on for ridiculous lengths of time. The problem is my hose doesn't quite reach far enough so I have to spray the water to reach the plants. I don't know how many plastic spray nozzles I went through, but none of them lasted very long and would start to leak or crack. For a while I tried the ancient and cheap method of putting my finger over the end of the hose to get it to spray farther, but I usually ended up getting a bit wet when doing that.So I went looking for a better hose nozzle and stumbled across this on Amazon. This is a classic design that has been around practically forever (or at least since I was a little kid, which is pretty much forever ago), is made from brass instead of plastic, and is MADE IN THE USA. You adjust the strength and circular size of the spray by turning the end of the nozzle, resulting in a range of a large circle of a misty type of coverage down to a small concentrated jet of water that shoots hard and far. Or you can turn it all the way to shut the water off. No leaking so far. This appears to be a well-built and useful nozzle that should last for a long time.If I had never used the plastic spray nozzles I would have given this one 5 stars, but I admit I do miss the pattern choices that you usually get with the plastic ones. I also think I prefer the "trigger" type of control over turning the end of the nozzle. However, the quality of this nozzle outweighs those minor issues for me. YMMVThe quality and price make this nozzle a no-brainer and I highly recommend it.

Watering flower beds in half the time!
March 7, 2015
After reading all of the good reviews, I ordered this from Amazon. Although it doesn't shoot water as far as I was hoping (to clean our solar panels about 20 feet up), it does a great job of watering my flower beds and spraying off my windows. I like the adjustments in spray force. I particularly like the spray that comes when you turn the nozzle about halfway. It does such a good job of watering my flower beds thoroughly, in about half the time of my old pistol nozzle. The reason I didn't give this 4 stars is that when I water the flower boxes on my second story balcony from below, it leaks a little since I don't have the nozzle on full power. I have found that if I stand at a different angle and not shoot straight up, it works better. But it does a very good job of watering the flower boxes as the spray is wide enough to water both boxes at the same time! Once again, so much better than my old pistol nozzle.I use this nozzle with my hose that shrinks when the water is out of it and it works great. This type of hose seems to give me higher pressure and the nozzle really works well with it.Although I am very happy with this nozzle, I am going to order another brand fire hose nozzle for my back yard to see if there is any difference in the distance it can spray. I really don't want my husband or myself to have to climb up on our roof to clean our solar panels!!
After 2 years, no leaks, hasn't broken
July 20, 2014
I bought it hoping it would last longer than most of my nozzles would, and that it would keep the range of sprays that it came with, and that it might be able to create more pressure for a longer spray length than my other nozzles. It has only been this summer, so I don't know how it will last. The spray length is about the same, maybe a little better. Will post next year how it is maintaining. At least no leaks at the threads yet. The construction seems more substantial, and smoother in movement...so I am hoping.UPDATE: It has been over a year now and it has lasted, and not broken or started leaking like the other nozzels I have tried, so I have upgraded my rating from 3 to 4 stars. UPDATED again at 2 years, still working.
Seems to be well made and strong
July 19, 2014
I had a fire hose nozzle that my daughter got from QVC and it lasted a while. However, the on/off was a toggle switch which broke off one day. With that in mind I went hunting for one that didn't have a toggle and found this one. I read the reviews about this one permanently attaching itself to your hose through a chemical reaction so I am careful to remove it when finished. This one does work just fine but it doesn't put out as much water as the old one did so I am a little disappointed by that. The plus these fire hose type nozzles have over the other types of nozzles is that they don't seem to break as quickly, made of better materials and the rubber around them takes a licking with cracking the nozzle. They also are easier on my arthritic thumb joint since I don't have to squeeze a handle.
Good control of water pattern, sturdy design
January 23, 2014
This is a very good nozzle. It allows a good amount of control of the water spray pattern, ranging from a wide fan delivering a low pressure water stream, through to a high pressure, narrow stream. Perfect for cleaning cars (using a medium fan of water to get the car wet and to rinse off the soap, and a high pressure spray to remove road grime from the wheels and underside). It's good for watering plants too, using the fan end of the selector range. If you get it just right you can actually get it to mist too.The only thing this nozzle is missing is a quick on/off mechanism. As it is, you turn it off by rotating the front to one end or the other. This is the same mechanism used to select the spray pattern. This is a design improvement over the original, which only had the off position at one end of the spray selection. The rubber coated aluminum design is very sturdy and will last for years... the last one did. The only reason I had to replace the last one was my mistake... I left it attached to the hose for a few years and either the hard water or electrolysis caused it to become permanently stuck to the brass end of the hose, and it got damaged when I tried to remove it. Lesson learned... I remove it from the hose when it's not in regular use.
Very high quality, but different spray options
July 9, 2013
This is the highest quality hose head i have ever seen and will probably last for 10 years, but the spray function is totally different then any other hose that a typical person is used to.The blueprints and design of the nozzle is based from the head to a fire dept. hoses, so with that in mind what do their hoses do? They just begin with a steady light stream and build to a super blast, well that's all this hose does as well. So if your looking for the mist, spray, fan, cone, and jet functions like a regular hose then this isn't it, but it still is a really good hose and the light spray of basically like a controlled fully open hose that kinda fans out more as it does when you place your finger over the hose end. So all in all if you want basic function to work on the garden, lawn, and clean the car with out special features the get this! But if you want all those special spray modes then a regular hose nozzle at Wal-mart is what you want.
Good for washing cars
May 13, 2013
I was looking for a good hose nozzle to use for washing my car in the driveway so based on the positive reviews I decided to give this a shot. It works by simply twisting the head of the nozzle to adjust the strength and power of the water stream. It does have a fairly powerful water flow but I subtract a star because it is not very versatile. It doesnt offer different types of streams of water, such as a shower-like stream that has a slightly softer water flow but would cover a larger area. It's basically just a strong hard stream of water like a fire hose provides (although not that powerful obviously). If that is what you are looking for, this does a good job at providing a hard strong stream of water. As far as using it to wash off my car, it gets the job done well.

Not as good as hoped

I had higher expectations. The produced stream isn't all that powerful and the barrel construction isn't as handy as having a gun-style trigger. I don't think that I would buy another one of these.

December 13, 2014
It seems to be made out of some soft metal with brass finish. If you drop it lightly on cement, you're going to cause damage. It still sprays water though so it's okay.
Not what I expected

I was expecting a great quality item but the first time I used it, it lost the internal gasket near the front opening. Blew right out and I can't replace it. It leaks now from the tip. Very disappointed.

June 4, 2017
I'd only recommend this if you need to keep the hose flowing for long periods of time. Not very useful for gardening. None of the settings were appropriate for smaller plants. Also, it is annoying to stop and start because you have to twist the nozzle several times.
Not what I expected.
July 23, 2014
Going by some of the other reviews I had high-hopes this was going to be just what I needed. Unfortunately the most forceful stream elicited from this device is inadequate to remove even the top layer of dirt from either my garage or carport floor or the several cars we own. It's of a high-quality build, seems to me, but if it won't blast off caked-on dirt or even sweep a carport clean of leaves and grime without taking an hour to do so, then it's not much good for my uses.
Adequate and hefty
July 21, 2014
Certainly not what was expected. It has the appearance of a high-end or industrial quality nozzle but performs like a basic $3 nozzle. It has a great weight and feel with its thick rubber outer pieces but the actual nozzle is inconsistent in spray pressure and even spray pattern. I have a hard time getting the right flow for watering delicate small plants and then trying to get enough stream to even shoot 12feet.I can say it is hefty and tough also, the gasket seal is good quality and wont leak. This is the main reason I still use it.
Leaked horribly after several months
January 28, 2014
We will seek a replacement under warranty, but the "new improved" manufacturing in China is a worry...UPDATECalled warranty and a few gasket sets came in the mail very quickly. The front desk was obviously dealing with this problem as there was no hand off at all... The fix was relatively easy. The lower, larger o-ring was indeed in several pieces. I replaced it and added some silicone and it no longer leaked.Inspecting the inside, most of it is plastic and that is probably not the worst thing. The one stainless fitting that you see on the outside actually screws into a pot metal fitting. That pot metal was already showing signs of corrosion with our hard water. I believe it will last another year or so based on what I saw just on the hard water we have... I also believe that the two o-rings inside probably should be replaced each year.I would pay more money for proper fittings and a lasting product for whatever it's worth. Change that pot metal fitting to stainless and include a few o-rings in the packaging and that might go a long way to a good compromise on the next round of manufacturing.I updated to three stars as it is indeed working now...and I do like the product when it is working.
ultimate but with limitations
January 4, 2014
first of all, let me say it the design/concepts are great. they work well, the rubber keeps them from being dinged, and they offer a nice range of spray patterns. The ones that turn off in either direction are most convenient.unfortunately I have burned through a number of these in spite of them being ultimate products. The main weakness is that the center post of the product is plastic. as such, it is not really meant to stand up to being frozen. I, on the other hand, I am notinclined to undo my nozzles every time there is a freeze. The other issue I have with these is the nozzle can bond to the hose fitting, so I ended up cutting the last one off after it failed. I tried several solvents and very large wrenches but no luck, I ended up damaging what was left of it before being able twist it off the hose.
Bon-Aire hose nozzle
April 21, 2013
I'd forgotten to write a review until I went to use this yesterday and it leaked like a sieve. To be fair, this is 5 years old already. BUT....those have been 5 pampered years where every winter this was inside a heated basement and I only used it to wash my vehicles. So it didn't exactly see heavy use and I never left the water on when I wasn't using it so it wasn't under pressure either. This looks like that pricey version from Griot's Garage, I've long since thrown away the packaging, but my guess is this is made in China.Pros: It doesn't rust, I see no ferrous metal parts at all, unlike the big box home improvement stores have. It has an adjustable spray pattern, like a fire hose nozzle. The nozzle area is rubberized, so if you drop it or bang it against your vehicle it isn't going to mess up the paint or bend the nozzle at all.Cons: Even on concentrated jet spray, the jet seems pretty weak. The adjustable spray nozzle gets on your nerves after awhile, because you have to keep twisting the nozzle to shut it off/turn it on.I guess I should be glad I got 5 years out of this, 2.5 if you count the time I actually used it during warmer months. Can't figure out what happened over the storage months to make this all of a sudden leak so badly, but I do like that it doesn't rust.

Not if you want a concentrated narrow stream.
June 3, 2017
Does NOT produce a strong narrow stream. At the tightest spray pattern, still a lot of water spreading out about a foot around the center stream.Paid extra for all brass, made in U.S. It's BS, there's some kind of design or production flaw. Missed the return window by a few days, so I'm screwed. In the trash it goes, will try another brand.

Where are the replacement parts?
August 16, 2016
This is a nicely machined water nozzle. Easy and simple to use. I am rating this item at 2 stars only because of the lack of product support.I have been using this nozzle for about 1 year. Recently the nozzle will not completely shut off the water flow. This should be no big problem, there are only a couple of o-rings, easy to replace and inexpensive. Here begins my problem. Where is the customer/product support link? What size o-rings do I need and where do I get them? I feel that this is a great product hobbled by the lack of manufacturer support.

Jet spray function quit working
April 10, 2016
This worked great for about 6 months. Recently I went to use it and discovered it no longer does a full turn for the "jet" function. It doesn't water gently enough for flowers in the wider setting, so I'll have to toss it.

the build quality is amazing and I like that you can take it part but...I used to have $5 trigger nozzle from sears which I used to clean the drive way and patio and the pressure was very good. I had to return this product as even at the maximum setting the pressure is very bad. I wish i read other reviewer complaining about that. Great thing about amazon - I returned for a full refund.

June 27, 2017
spray settings keep shifting... does not spray the same way each time you hit that setting. Also, this hose nozzle does NOT create a sharp powerful spray. Good for watering my flower pots & baskets then misting but does not spray off the patio. I would not purchase it again.
It Leaks.
April 15, 2017
I bought one less than a year ago, and now it leaks. Not a whole lot, but it is a streaming, continuous drip. It costs $18! I took it apart, thought maybe some crud got in there, but there was none. Put silicone grease on the leaking red o-ring, and tried it. Still leaks... $18, nine months old. The nozzle has a one year warranty. I guess I can call Bon-Aire to see if they will send me another o-ring (o-rings are not sold) or attempt to exercise my warranty, perhaps mail it back. Then this will become a $50 to $100 nozzle with my labor. For the want of an o-ring, the customer was lost.It does spray well and evenly, different patterns for different needs. It is more designed for plant watering than all-around use. The narrowest spray pattern is less powerful and does not have the distance compared to most other nozzles. As the ad states, it has a "Unique patented two-way shut off for added convenience." That's partly true. One can turn the nozzle either counter or clockwise for an off position. But the "shut off" part is not true. It leaks.Update: 4/23/17I called call Bon-Aire at 800-874-5771 to request or buy the o-ring. It was as good as it can get. A person answered the phone and within a minute, the o-rings were being sent, free. Are to arrive in 7 to 10 days. Asked whether leaking is common - was told the o-rings should last a few years.
Not happy.
March 31, 2017
I used to buy these when they were built to last and i remember them having a clear color rather then the green that it comes with now. I bought two and they both are leaking from the front and i was sure to never drop them. Not happy.
The internal housing is plastic and can easily be broken
October 21, 2016
I've bought two of these. The first one lasted for about a year which prompted me to buy a second, then they both broke around the same time. This was in accordance with what I'd consider "normal usage". The internal housing is plastic and can easily be broken. You can buy 1/2 a dozen brass nozzles for the price of one of these.
Hype Advertising
March 30, 2016
"Five-pattern spray nozzle turns any standard garden hose into multifunction spray tool."Hype Advertising. There's nothing special about this nozzle. You'd be better off buying a basic twist nozzle or the $7 Orbit adjustable brass nozzle from Home Depot. Don't waste your money on this item. I had high hopes for it, because I loved the firehose nozzle that my uncle had (not sure of the brand name. It definitely was not this one). I'm returning the item because it's hype advertising and not worth $18. I've heard there is a better, similar nozzle at Sears for less money.
Seems well made but just didn't perfrom
May 14, 2015
While this nozzle gives good "hand" (it's a delight to turn/operate as the machinery is smooth) and seems to be really well made, it simply doesn't perform. I should have listened to the other reviews that said it required high pressure and volume to operate well. But I have higher pressure (+/- 60 psi) at my hydrant and thought I would be okay. I simply cannot make it spray with enough force and volume. I even tried connecting it directly to my spigot (no hose) but it simply has nothing better than what I can describe as a lackluster spray of water. Too bad as it is a really nice piece of equipment. I think one would have to have a 3/4" supply pipe to a hose bibb and then use a 3/4 inch hose with quite high pressure delivery from your well or municipal water system in order for this nozzle to perform satisfactorily.
