Good Value, But Arrived Missing Hardware
July 11, 2017
This pen is very well designed and constructed, and is aesthetically pleasing. At the lowest Amazon price, it is a good value. I have some concern, however, as to whether the door hinges, which are screwed into the plastic frame, will withstand repeated opening and closing over time. Of the five pens I received, one was completely missing the installation hardware. I note that other reviewers have encountered the same problem. Better quality control by IRIS before shipping would spare us the hastle and delay of returning the large carton and waiting for a replacement.
Great product for the price !
November 30, 2016
I ordered this for my 8 week old English springer spaniel pup. I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for a play pen. I just needed something easy to put her in when we leave the house while she is unsupervised. I was skeptical when I read that many of the dogs figured how to climb out. My pup is pretty rambunctious and quick to figure out things. Well as I suspected, she ended up climbing out on the 2nd day... but I was prepared. Easy fix, cardboard, zip ties, and a blanket cover, and the problem is fixed. The play pen was super easy to set up, can't go wrong with the price. Just improvise with the lid if your puppy figures out how to climb out, not a deal breaker. I also love the gray pen. A product that gets the job done for a good price.
Loved it so much I bought two one for the living room and one for our bedroom.
November 6, 2016
I love this Exercise Pet Playpen. I breed Yorkshire Terriers and one of my puppies family purchased this for their puppy. Since I kept a puppy this litter I didn't want to keep my big pen in the living room so I went out and bought this too. I like the size and the door is very easy to operate. I was so impressed I actually decided to buy a second one for the bedroom. The puppy is way to small for the bed and this is a safe space for her when I am not home. I figure with two I can put them together depending on the litter size I have next time I breed.Pros: Safe space, Very easy to assemble. Great price for what you get.Cons: I would have given this 5 stars except the second one we ordered arrived with missing and wrong parts. We actually got two door panels but only one door and some of the hardware was missing as well as a cap for one of the side spikes. I was able to return and received a new one in a few days but I found that a hassle. I figure it was the manufacture that messed up on the parts. Once I got the replacement I was able to put it together in about 10 minutes.
Almost Perfect . . .
September 21, 2016
The playpen arrived today, and it is a perfect replacement for the big metal exercise pen that has been in my living room for the past seven weeks, since we rescued a senior chi. The lower sides make it easy to reach him, replenish his food and water, etc. And it doesn't look like a prison. An old shower curtain does the trick to line the bottom, topped with a bath towel that is past its prime, in case of accidents. He has room for his bed, food and water, and a couple of toys hung on the side. He seems delighted with his new habitat.I would give this product five stars if they had included the 16 screws required to attach the door. However, they were missing. And there is no clue as to what size to buy (requiring a special trip to the hardware store). We managed to collect enough screws from my stash, and avoided that trip, but I must make a point here. I do not have a hardware store in my home. The parts packages should be complete in every package. When a purchase arrives, it should be ready to 'plug and play'. Your customer satisfaction would be solid fives if more attention was paid to detail.
Fix for the "slim diamond" folding problem.
January 22, 2015
Our Maltese weighs in at about 12 pounds - he's something of a bruiser. We occasionally need to leave him at home for short periods of time and Sam has separation anxiety - he scratches doors and door mouldings if we leave him loose. We got one of these 4 panel pens instead of locking him up in a crate and thought we'd found the perfect solution, but after a few times left in the pen Sam learned how to push on the corner causing the pen to change from a square to a slim diamond shape. Twice he got pinned in the diamond and once he succeeded in tipping it over and crawling out from underneath. We then had to block the pen in with some fairly heavy items so he couldn't move it and form the diamond shape. I've read other reviews here complaining of the same issue. To me, the pen's convenience is lost when one has to place heavy items around it so that a rambunctious pup can't foil it. The manufacturer should make corner brackets of some kind to prevent the folding of the pen by the pup but it appears they don't and I couldn't find brackets that would fit easily.I have, however, found a solution that I'll pass along here. The items used are inexpensive, OK looking and easily produced by anyone with a little DIY experience. I decided to try adding two flat bars criss-crossed at the top of the pen and held in place by the "Pins" used to join the walls. I used some flat vinyl screen moulding from Home Depot that is 3/4" wide and 8' long. Description is "1/4 x 3/4 x8 PVC 6578 White". With the pen squared up using a measuring tape the pins are approximately 48 3/4" apart diagonally. You'll need two 8' pieces of this moulding as the overall length of each one will be about 50" long. With the 50" pieces cut and 1/2" holes drilled 48 3/4" apart at each end, you're ready to remove the corner "pins" from the pen one at a time and mount the crossmember pieces at the top. The photos attached will show this simple operation. The pen is now rigid and Sam can't fold it into the diamond shape. He can still push the pen around on a smooth floor but I'm ok with that - we have no stairs or anything. If I want to keep him in one spot, I can just put the pen on a carpet and he's unable to move it much.If you have the "diamond" problem, try this quick fix. It'll do until the manufacturer addresses the problem with some proper removable corner brackets. The pen is wonderful otherwise.
My lil yorkie climbs out of it
March 5, 2013
I love how easy this playpen is to put together and it looks nice, HOWEVER, my little 1lb yorkie puppy climbs out of this thing like a monkey. She can easily use the little squares to climb up it like a ladder putting each paw in each square, she then falls out once she's on top. I can no longer keep her in there unattended and ordered the mesh roof. Hopefully this will help.

Nice & sturdy but not 24" tall
August 26, 2017
Nice & sturdy but the description says 24" and that's deceiving. It was confusing because I was looking for a pen that was 24" tall but this one isMore like 34" tall . I'm not sure where they get the 24" from. I'm not sure what I'll do because it's larger than I'd hoped and I have limited space.Still, if you're looking for a sturdy pen and want the taller one , this is a decent one for the money.Just be aware that puppies chew and it's plastic!
My 12 lb shitzu/bichon mix can easily climb out this
January 26, 2017
My 12 lb shitzu/bichon mix can easily climb out this. I got the roof thinking that would solve this but he is still able to get out. the quality of the pen is not bad though, especially for the price. it can morph easily if your dog pushes on it which can provide some safety concerns. Also if I only latch one of the door hinges, my dog is able to open it and get out.
Disappointed
December 7, 2016
I was hoping this would be a nice area to keep our puppy in and I even bought the mesh top that goes with the product, however our little Houdini dog manages to climb out of it every time. He is a chihuahua mix so he isn't very big and he manages to get out every time. He even figured out how to undo the Velcro clasps for the top so he can climb through more easily. If you have a dog that doesn't try to get out of his kennel or pen then this would be ok but if he is an escape artist you may want to try something else.
The 24" is too short to be honest. It ...
October 21, 2016
The 24" is too short to be honest. It should really be a few more inches. If you have a very small breed you might be okay. Yes, I am aware there is a taller size, but my space did not fit the larger area. The hinge and handle can not be reversed! The door will always open from the left, swinging out and resting to the right when open.
Great quality product
April 7, 2016
Here is why I give it 3 stars: Our 7-week old Goldendoodle has out-engineered IRIS USA engineers. On the very first day, I set up pen went off work with full confidence she would safe when my wife gets home a few hours later. The wife then (text) me and said she was playing in the house. Bewildered, I asked how did she get out? My wife replied maybe she jumped? I said no... she's not strong enough to jump that high. Then wife replied she must have climbed out then. So ask my wife to put her back in the area we set up -- and sure enough, that little 7-week old Goldendoodle climbed right out. IRIS USA engineers you have been officially 'doodled' by a 7-week old Goldendoodle might rethink the design because our puppy seems to think the horizontal bars are stair steps to climb out. Great quality product... however, the Engineers need to try and outsmart the dogs not the other way around Unfortunately we have to send it back to Amazon.
Good quality pen, however doesn't keep puppy in - 6lb Yorkie easily jumps out
November 23, 2014
Wife and I like the look of the pen, and the door is quite helpful to let the puppies in and out. However, that's where pro's end, the pen was bought to give our 2 puppies room to play while we're at work instead of putting them in crates. However, one of our dogs (6lb Yorkie) easily jumps out because horizontal slats on the panels act as a ladder and he climbs up and jumps over. So our Yorkie is always outside by the time we get home from work, the other hasn't quite learned this trick yet.I tried a few things to try to keep him in, but he's quite the escape artist and can sneak out. I will be buying the IRIS top that is made for this pen and will post a review of the top once I have a chance to use it.I have a 2nd pen in the basement that works much better, neither dog has escaped out of that, the walls are a few inches higher and the walls are harder for the dogs to scale and hop over.

Ehhhhhh
September 24, 2017
Eh, I am Not Crazy About it at all. I got two of these mesh roofs, to go with the Iris playpen with two extra panels. There is not a practical way to do *that*. There is a Gap between the two mesh roofs, whereupon unsupervised puppers learn easily to come Seething Out of the top. I think this is probably ok if you only have the basic, four-panel pen, it would cover it all ok. Except the four-panel pen is really not big enough to separate the bed-area from the bathroom-area, hmm, so, hmm.
Easy to Assemble but doesn't do it's job...
August 26, 2017
At first I was thrilled with this purchase, so I bought two. It was very easy to assemble and light weight. I used one to gate off a room and one assembled as a playpen in a bedroom. When I got my puppy he was tiny (2.5 lbs) and it was fine. Before long, maybe two months at most, he was able to jump over it as a gate as well as the playpen. I recently purchased the cloth cover to try to keep him contained in the playpen and it didn't work either. My dog is only 8 pounds...so I never expected these problems. If you have even a small dog who can jump at all, don't expect these to keep your dog contained.
Eh. Would do I suppose but came without hardware to attach door
May 14, 2017
Am thinking about returning -- came without hardware from the warehouse deals, so there's no door. We put it up against a wall, hoping that I could figure out a way to contact Amazon without returning, but all feedback roads sort of lead to "return," through the Amazon buttons, so maybe that will be the case. Pup can climb out.... it's not as sturdy as the exact one I purchased about 5 years ago from this company.... a bit skimpy on the weight of the plastic.
Can't contain 10 week old kittens
October 27, 2016
I set this up for the 2 kittens we adopted from the shelter - I wanted to contain them while they got used to us and my older kitties.Unfortunately, my 10 week old kittens were able to leap it in a single bound.I still used it for a while, as a place to collect their food, water and bedding, so they had a "home base" within the larger room, but it is definitely not kitten proof unless they are really, really young.
Small dog jumps out
June 21, 2016
I really liked this play pen when i first got it. It wasnt too bulky and it didnt take up too much space. I purchased the additional panels so that it is bigger... However, it was short lived since my 15 lb, very old dog, with bad legs figured out how to jump over out of it. It is past 30 days so i cannot return this one, so im pretty disappointed for having waited this long. I am giving it 2 start just because its not high enough and dogs can easily use the horizontal bars to step on them and jump out. I ended up investing into Regalo 192-Inch Super Wide Gate and Play Yard. It has vertical bars only and its a lot higher... made for kids... hope it works better.
Good product, misleading "Like New"
April 9, 2015
The pen in itself it perfect for two small rabbits; the dimensions and quality are perfect and lightweight. However, I'm irritated for being told the reason I would be getting a small discount is because the packaging was damaged, but that the product is "like new". I received not only a damaged box, but a FILTHY pen and no hinges to attach the small door, which defeats the purpose of having the pen in an open area. Thus, I've been forced to rearrange furniture so that the open doorway is against the wall until I receive my pieces to finally complete this.

Terrible
September 17, 2017
The quality seems to be good but the latches will not work on the gate and it seems to me that the stakes to hold the gate together do not really hold it together. My dog was able to push forward and it literally snapped and he is only 10 pounds. This really is disappointing since it was something we really needed.
Awful! So lightweight that my 5 lb puppy escaped!
June 25, 2017
Awful! Awful! Awful! I left my 5 month old 5 pound Yorkie puppy to run a quick errand. I came home to find out he escaped! It is pretty light and he was able to push it from the bottom and escape. Thank goodness he didn't do anything more than chew up my sandals and some paper (which made him puke!). I never write reviews, though I have had Amazon prime for years, but had to for this one. Please ignore the high reviews, if my little puppy can escape, any dog can. Please find something else, such as a large all enclosed one with heavy steel and narrow grills/grates. There are plenty of them on Amazon. I hope you read this and take my advice.
This was not very easy to put on the playpen that it came with
May 19, 2017
This was not very easy to put on the playpen that it came with. We would move the playpen around the room and transform it from a pen to a wall. Everytime we turned the pen back into a pen, we would put this mesh roof on. You basically have to go completely around the pen and strap like 10+ straps awkwardly to the horizontal grid part of the cage. Takes a long time and doesn't even hold the dog in that well. My dog is a jumper, and was able to squeeze between the mesh roof and the fence to escape every time once figured out.
Should be elastic
May 18, 2017
These things are a pain, if you want to get your pet out from the top of the pen you have to take a bunch of Velcro off. I thought it was elastic. Should be elastic it would've been way more convenient. Lots of work. We're using our own for our bunny to bond with our other bunny so we go in from the top to get him out. So no sense in even using the thing. It's just a mess. Make another one with elastic in it to hold it down.
Looks Great in Pictures but Flimsy and Wobbly. Not Rigid.
June 5, 2015
Maybe good outside with stakes in the ground. That's about it. Moves, shifts and folds in if you touch it on a wooden floor. Maybe a rubber mat or some creative way of securing it. I just don't have the time and should not have to rig a product to hold it in place. It's Just Not Effective. It looks really nice but that's it it is still 100% flimsy. I really wish it was more rigid. I would even pay more. Think of a carboard box folded flat and how it opens and closes and shifts to make non rigid flimsy box shape that opens and closes like an accordion . This is the best analogy I can think of. Hope this helps.
Didn't work at all.
November 29, 2014
While this was just as described, it's nearly worthless without a sturdy top unless your dog is asleep in it. Of course, the top is sold separately and it's not made of the same material as the playpen. Our dog is fairly small right now and was still knocking it over very easily, and could jump it way too easily. She felt penned in so really tried to get out of it constantly, any way she could. We decided to use a leash until she grows up, instead. This just didn't work.
