Five Star Reviews: | 48% Absolutely excellent, there are two brightness settings July 26, 2016 Absolutely excellent, there are two brightness settings, number one is just an ordinary flashlight but number two is the brightest searchlight I've ever seen. Works fabulous outside at night giggin frogs. Bright and very big July 7, 2015 This bad boy is extremely bright and very large, the battery seems to run a decent amount of time considering the wattage of the bulb big October 17, 2013 i opened the box and said to my self what did i order .in amazment of just the size of this light.i thought to my self i gotta send this back then i turned it on inside the house . it realy didnt impress me to much the light had a yellow tint .not like the leds i buy witch are always bright white.the my son said lets try it out side .i was absolutely shocked .this giant is the brightest thing i ever saw .we piked the furthest object we could see looking up the street .this light lit it like it was day light.i said im not sending this back.not only is it functional ,its a great novelty piece to bring up conversation.dont know how well it charges yet or if the batterys were full when i opened it.to end this ive got to say I AM IMPRESSED JIM I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PURCHASE | 78% Best self contained LED spot light August 20, 2016 I got to use this light on the boating on the lake and trying to find a cove to anchor for the night in after dark. It is bright, stays cool in operation and the batteries last a long time. Had to have one and bought one for my own boat and used it several times already. Before putting it in the boat, I had it in my bedroom on the dresser. We live in a rural setting in Calif in a "resource conservation area". It means we have a lot of open land with trees, creeks and meadows nearby. With all the dogs making a ruckus, I picked up this light and was able to spot the critter 700 feet away and scare it off. Will be purchasing another to leave in the house as well. Great light. Durable construction. The rubber around the front and rear of the barrel help it stay were you put it in a moving vessel. Some of the old 12v plug in halogen lights are brighter, but this is self contained, bright enough, and no more burns from a hot spot light. Used 6 AA batteries. One place in the specs says 2 AA, but is not correct. MARRY POPPINS LIGHT: Perfect in every way!! August 15, 2016 I purchased this Spotlight after having tried and sent back the Streamlight 44900 Waypoint Spotlight with 12V DC Power Cord. : (Now....this is a winner all the way! : )It's small !It's compact !It's lightweight !It has 3 power settings (High-Medium-Low) that stay on without having to pull the trigger constantly. It's very reasonably priced......a real value !Water resistant, which makes it perfect for the boat and REAL camping !It's sturdy !It's EXACTLY what I wanted and has all the features that I really need.HAPPY CAMPER ! : ) It feels good in the hand July 13, 2016 All I can say about this light is "wow". It throws a beam of light. I was surprised at how little it weighs. It feels good in the hand, and with the locking trigger, it does not cause the user "trigger finger" fatigue. Has 3 settings that are activated by the trigger, user can choose depending on the amount of light needed and also to save battery use. I would buy this light again, if it should ever break. But then again that should not be necessary as it does say indestructible on the box. I haven't checked out that claim yet, so I can't give an honest evaluation. Buy this light and see for yourself. May 1, 2016 I use this for last 2 hunting seasons. Works fantastic. There is absolutely ZERO sense in buying a > $65 flashlight. I have a couple of expensive $100 flashlights that are small and use them expensive $25 camera batteries. They are DWARFED by this Rayovac Sportsman light. I regret ever buying them and use them as a backup to this unit. The multi-brightness level really extends the battery. I maybe have 1 battery change during the entire hunting season. And i hunt in and out the woods during darkness ab 30 to 40 times in a 4.5 month long season. Hope this review helps. buy this and you will be happy February 3, 2016 Amazing and 10 times brighter than my Cyclops spotlight that was 20 more dollars. Brian in baton rouge PS just bought2 more. The guy next door saw mine and wanted one. He is not a member so I purchased a second for me and one for him. We live along the amite river southeast of baton rouge.lots of wildlife very active at night. To not be tied to a cord and have q beam power is too cool. Update that I now have purchased 5 of these lights. People who live around me wanted one after I showed them how bright it was. I have 2 and now 3 guys on the amite river have one each. They pulled cash out to give me because I have a prime account. Brian in baton rouge Great illumination January 11, 2015 Great light, and with easily replaceable batteries. Nothing worse than being on the water and losing power on rechargeable battery system with no way or time to recharge. |
Four Star Reviews: | 18% Wild critters, trespassers, and invading aliens beware! April 4, 2017 Wow this is bright!!!! I mean zowie! The battery charge discharges fast but a couple of blasts from this thing will send the lions, tigers, and bears scrambling. Wild critters, trespassers, and invading aliens beware!Four stars only because the battery discharges fast, ... last very long you have to recharge it it's good for about 30 minutes but it's good if you ... February 16, 2017 It is very bright the only problem the battery doesn't last very long you have to recharge it it's good for about 30 minutes but it's good if you just looking around your house for a while outside definitely lights up great value November 26, 2015 I was surprised with this item, it shoots a beam all the way across the pasture and I can tell if there are any wolves as their eyes light up. It's not as good as a HID bulb, but for this price it's well worth it. It is quite large but not too heavy, feels like your carrying a bazooka around. Overall probably the best value spotlight on amazon. very nice unit, just make sure the contacts to the ... October 26, 2014 Now thats a bright light!!, the Cyclops delivers clean white light with a focused beam,, very nice unit, just make surethe contacts to the bulb are secure, when i first received it, the "high beam" feature didn't work, so I removed the lens and reflector housing. only to find that one of the connectors to the high amp switch had detatched itself from the bulb, once i crimped them all, and reattached them to the bulb, the light worked perfectly !! Big Yellow's replacement January 14, 2013 This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my son by his sister to replace one nicknamed "big yellow". The light itself is great. The only problem was the shipping carton from the manufacturer did not hold up. The seam of the box came apart inside the Amazon box, it was bounced around, the support stand was broken and the part securing the battery case was loose. When contacted Amazon provided a replacement with lightning speed so we stillll had it for Christmas. The second package had the same issues as the first, but miraculously the light was not broken. Since it has a rechargeable lead acid battery it cannot be returned according to Amazon. They continue to bug me to return it despite phone calls and verification it cannot be returned. We charged the light before my son got it. He loves it, and it is a great replacement for the one that died. I only hope he uses it responsibly! Charge Time January 5, 2012 Found this to be really bigger than i need,, but it did light up all that i wanted to,, it works well with shoulder strap, when holding and shooting the shotgun, It leaves the hands and arm free,, so far have bagged one raccoon one nutria that are nothing more than pest, to every one on the block, I do not like the time it takes to charge this unit, too slow, but will have to suffer with it, I do run batt down till dim before recharge, I believe that keeps the batt in better long term use... I bought it on sale for about 50 bucks, all in all a good buy! | 12% Bright beam April 19, 2016 Good stong and bright beam!! Bought for my boat and will hopefully use it this summer for early morning fishing departures. The flashlight itself is constructed from a very hard plastic and rubber and seems like it would be very hard to break February 26, 2016 Very bright and it has 3 light settings, low light, mid light, and very bright. The brightest setting it at 500 lumens. The flashlight itself is constructed from a very hard plastic and rubber and seems like it would be very hard to break. Great flashlight for the price. A Bright, Little Light May 28, 2015 Very small compared to lights of comparable luminosity. Nice and bright - on "high", if your eyesight were good enough, you could very clearly read the words on a non-reflective "posted' sign at night from 100 yards. One squeeze on the trigger, and the light STAYS on "high". A second squeeze, and it stays on "medium". A third squeeze to "low", and a 4th squeeze back to "off". With this light, there is no need to keep squeezing or to use a "lock" switch, as with many other lights. I don't mind "cycling through" to turn it off as much as some other reviewers have indicated, as long as it doesn't produce a failure from over-use in the future. The light doesn't have some of the bells & whistles that I've enjoyed on other lights...such as an angled/rotating head or a flat surface on top that enables the light to be positioned/focused within a work space. Not inexpensive for what it is...but if it holds up then it's worth it. I got tired of rechargeable spotlights after too many charge/battery life issues and lost charging cables. Not a bad light December 17, 2014 Pretty nice light, just wish the trigger lock was better. It switched to the unlock position and turned on while being carried in my backpack. I like that its smaller in size than some spotlights I've owned, and the three brightness settings are very handy. What I wanted. November 27, 2014 This item seems to be exactly as described and what I wanted. It is actually less heavy than I imagined and the wrist strap is a bonus. It feels comfortable in my hand and my wife can handle it easily.I took it out of it's packaging, opened the battery compartment, removed, inspected and replaced the (included) batteries then re-assembled the whole thing. It worked perfectly. It is fairly bright and the trigger actuated cycling through bright, less bright and somewhat dim worked well.Item seems to be well constructed and appears as if it will last years.I'll update this after some time and use. |
Three Star Reviews: | 10% If you're looking far distances this is a very strong ... January 16, 2016 If you're looking far distances this is a very strong light and will reach 3 to 400 yards! It only lasts about 1 hr but it comes with a cigarette plug in charger. The light is large and awkward to hold. Looks like a great light but bigger than it looked in ... October 21, 2015 This thing is HUGE! I returned this before using it as I bought this for camping and the size makes portability difficult. Looks like a great light but bigger than it looked in the picture Bright but cheap. July 2, 2014 Nice powerful bright light but the stand legs are made from very cheap plastic and do not support the light very well. The whole thing is huge which I don't have a problem with but the plastic it's made from feels very cheap and I do not see this being very durable. Not really worth it but it is bright. March 27, 2014 This is a very bright flashlight but with the new super bright LED flashlights it's way too big. The biggest problem is that you only get 20 minutes on high and it takes a coupe of hours at least to charge. WOW, that sucks March 15, 2013 Awesome light at first, used it to scan the yard for critters before letting out the dog, worked great for thge first few months and then it just quit working. battery was fried. Try the Waypoint much smaller and just as bright and the batteries last for ever. We use it 3 times a night everynight and it is well worth the money and have only replaced the batteries once in 6 months. It's OK February 21, 2013 Well it is certainly a BIG light. It actually wasn't difficult to carry, and using the shoulder strap and slinging it over your arm makes it easier. The LOW light setting...I have very small flashlights that are way better. The high setting isn't a very well focused beam, but what it has is distance. I prefer my 600 lumen Streamlight for anything out to the distance the LOW setting covers, and it's alot brighter at that range as well. The HIGH setting looks pretty much as a car hi beam. What it has in aces is distance. It stretches way out there, and for open areas it works. Haven't had it long enough to test durability, battery longevity or anything. Took a day after I unpacked it for the new plastic and mould release smells to waif off. Like that it included a car charger as well as the small strap. The stand is strong and works fine. Personally, you can get a lot small light for the price that will put out more, but for real distance at this price this light works. | 4% Not what I needed. Too much operation of the trigger needed each time. May 18, 2017 This product gives out plenty of light. But I don't like the fact that you have to cycle through all 3 levels of light before turning it from Off to On and back Off each time. Nor do I like being unable to pull the trigger briefly to illuminate something for a short period of time. Code signaling with the light is impossible. You will always go: Off, brightest, medium, dimmest and then Off. So 4 pulls of the trigger are needed in trying to just get a single burst of light. And you can't get a single burst anyway; you get 3 bursts at the 3 levels. This is due to the design that uses a small magnet in the trigger to cycle a magnetic switch inside the waterproof section. The trigger section is not waterproof but, except for the magnet and 4 screws, has no metal parts Great light, but designed for disposable batteries. July 12, 2016 I like this light. It seems pretty well built. It's sturdy, might be waterproof and the power consumption strikes a nice balance between battery life and light output. At its highest setting, the flashlight puts out a lot of light while still getting excellent battery life from the included alkaline batteries. What i do not like about this light is that two of the battery contacts (the positives on the lamp assembly) are carefully designed not to work with the flatter positive terminals on rechargeable batteries. What a crappy mindset to put that in the design. This issue can be fixed by prying the lead out a bit with a pick or a corkscrew or similar tool. Most people may never try that.Three stars because of that. not as good light performance as the removable head green rayovac lantern ... February 18, 2016 not as good light performance as the removable head green rayovac lantern but I dropped that one down the stairs and im assuming this one will perform better in that aspect. and when It worked it was great. Not a good product for longer than a ... March 22, 2015 I purchased this item in august of last year(9months), this product has stopped working. I used it only a couple of times, and when It worked it was great. Not a good product for longer than a year, I'm contacting the company for a replacement. Will update after.4/12/2015new update, rayovac responded to my situation. I shipped the item to them for $13, and they replaced the item no questions asked. This is surprisingly great from rayovac standing by their lifetime warranty. Only problem is that it cost an extra $13, but I am happy they replaced it. Super Bright, but it's on the heavy side July 8, 2014 This thing is bright! Unfortunately it doesn't come with a frosted cover so if you accidentally look directly at it, you'll end up seeing stars for awhile. Also it's a little on the heavy side. If you're looking for an outdoor lantern my recommendation is the UST 30-Day Lantern. Hope this helps! |
Two Star Reviews: | 6% Stopped charging October 1, 2017 After 45 days, it stopped charging. Past my return time. Good while it worked. Two Stars April 7, 2017 Giant piece of garbage. Loses charge very quickly, within 20 minutes the light starts to dim. i do not recommend the purchase or the waste of February 11, 2014 i've had to change my review. this is the 2nd light we've had. after only 6 months, it doesn't work despite changing batteries and bulbs. i do not recommend the purchase or the waste of time No longer charging April 30, 2012 Owned for only 6 months. Worked great at first. Probably only used it a dozen times. Now it no longer holds a charge. I've had other rechargeable lights which have lasted years without needed a new battery. Very disappointed. Big, bulky, not very bright September 2, 2011 This spotlight is not what it appears to be on the web.It is much too bulky in size for how bright it is,i have a feeling that the company that made the product made it look big just to trick customers into thinking that the flash light was super powerful. However, I opened up the flashlight to find that most of what is inside the thing is just empty space and plastic. For example, the metal perabolic dish that reflects the light from the bulb, has about an average of an inch of space between itself and the outside of the flashlight surface. anther example is that there is about 3 inches of distance from the edge of the bulb to the battery.(in the inside of the flashlight).Unfoutnatly, there are more cons. When holding the flashlight via the handle, It does not have a balanced feel. this creates an awkward feeling because the flashlight is so big and heavey.15 hour charge for 20 minutes of use? if i had known this i would have never bought it.Also, it says in the user manual to not leave it plugged in. But also to not let the battery go dead.ANother major problem is that you cannot have it on while it is charging. You can't even have it plugged into your car and have it on at the same time. this is crazy. I would at least expect that i could have it be at home, plugged into an extention cord or somthing.I was expecting a much brighter flashlight (for the size anyways)Cyclop used the term Candle Power to rate their flashlight. This just shows that they want to fool their custemors into thinking that the flashlight is super powerful when really candle power is just the density of light per area. I cannot find anywhere in the user manual how many lumens the flashlight produces.Brightness: The brightness on high mode is about as bright as your high beams on your car. The lower setting on the flashlight is about as bright as your lower beams on the car. I think this is mainly because the bulb it uses is a halogen lightbulb ment for vehicles. If they were to get 5/5 out of me, then the makers should have made the body way smaller, (less air space in the flashlight). a balanced handle, and maybe a switch near the spot where your thumb would be. and of course make it usable while charging (or beable to use it on outlet power) | 1% ok...just ok....i paid too much for it... January 31, 2017 Overall nice but should be 19.99....so overpriced.Nice beam and bright. Not as described in distance stated. Okay but there is better March 11, 2015 It seems very well built. However, the light from the Streamlight MUCH nicer. This one casts a lot of shadows and puts out glare. I bought both and plan to order a second Streamlight Siege. |
One Star Reviews: | 18% I am really disappointed that I wasted $50 on this August 29, 2017 this thing only lasted for about 3 weeks then just stopped working. I am really disappointed that I wasted $50 on this! very disappointed. June 25, 2015 arrived broken and now I'm told I can't send it back. very disappointed. Now I have to take it to HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL SITE August 30, 2014 If I could give a lower score than one, That would be for this unit. After charging for 15 hours, Nothing. Plugged it in to my car, Nothing. So I looked at return policy....They don't even want it back. Now I have to take it to HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL SITE. I did get a refund but every disappointed in the Cyclops. Cyclops C18MIL Thor X Colossus 18 Million November 9, 2012 I am up dating my review.. I thought this was the greatest product when i got it.. and then after 10 or so recharges.. it wouldent charge.. well it did light up for about 3 minuts then dimed to nothing.. Was told to change the battery.. and it cost as much as the light...!!! hope you have better luck with it then i did.. Cyclops 18 million candle paper weight July 30, 2012 I have had 2 of these spotlights. The 15 million lasted a solid 2 weeks with some good use then it crapped out. The 18 million lasted only 2 times of using it. I am a very good with electronics and I know how to charge the battery properly, this is not the case. I have heard you can change the bulb and battery and if that is something you are looking to do it might work, but if you are loking for an out of box good light look elsewhere. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This light will not last. Save your money!!!!!Amazon was great in delivery as always but don't buy this product you will be sorry!!! | 5% Time to get better January 21, 2017 No instructions, Hard to get apart to change batteries, Raovac no help on phone so I did not use it. Time to get better light On/off switch is NOT rugged. April 24, 2016 I wouldn't buy this again. I have had it exactly 3 months, and the on/off button doesn't really work anymore. I go very easy on the things I use, and the button is pretty much toast in under 9 hours of periodic use. Not worth what they charge! Bought two neither would produce light changed batteries to new ... September 8, 2015 Bought two neither would produce light changed batteries to new twice, no luck. Apparently the switch to turn on is hit or miss. I gave them two shots and them bought something else I had to return this item due to it missing ... August 25, 2015 I had to return this item due to it missing a battery contact on the inside of the cover. I exchanged it for a Streamlight lantern instead. Be prepared to replace the batteries immediately. May 7, 2015 Be prepared to immediately replace the batteries. I purchased four units and all required new batteries. |
