Great!
July 6, 2017
This spotlight lasted over 3 years living on a saltwater boat being used often to avoid pilings etc. It was very bright and worked just as intended. The switch connection seems to be failing now as its very dim and will only sometimes come on to the very bright setting. I am still giving it 5 stars however as anything at this price point would be life limited given its time spent around salt water. I can't open it up as all the screws are completed rusted. I'm sure its saved me from damaging my boat at some point, so I was happy to have it for the duration of its life and would recommend it...along with any other Streamlight product, of which I have many.
Love this light
December 2, 2014
Love this light. Crossed the Pacific in a very small boat and worked the entire way, every time it was needed. We still use it at home. A great little light. More lighting power than I expected.

Live in the country in frequent need of a spotlight. Works great and comparable to the much higher priced spotlights that my neighbors use. We had a late night spotlight performance test and my streamlight held it's own against the 'big boys', and much easier to carry around! Have two now, the first has held its power on first set of batteries for over a year.
A Product that works as advertised !!
February 16, 2014
We live in an area surrounded by trees, on all sides with neighbors several hundred feet away. This is THE first flashlight/spotlight that can reach the neighbors' houses and the small stream about 450 to the back. It is just perfect to be finally able to identify just what creature is make those noises / howls at 3 in the morning. It's not to heavy, not too big for me at least. And I've already used the swing down stand feature while repairing a snow blower away from the garage lights. I've never found a better light and all with one bulb. It has to be the shape of the reflector; but whatever it is, it surely works as advertised
Great Little LIght
January 22, 2014
Purchased 3 of these for gifts. Got to try one out and now I have my own. All went well from the purchase thru delivery. Use mine every day in work related activities. Battery life is as promised. Brightness is as as stated. Far out the beam is small, but whatever is inside the beam is very visible. Went spotting deer to try it out and was greatly impressed. With the red shield (purchased separately) it should work great as a predator hunting light. The light is somewhat small, is light in weight, and comfortable to use. I really like that you do not need to keep the trigger pulled to keep it shining. Click it on, click it off. this was a great purchase. Would highly recommend for others!
Good spotlight
October 10, 2012
Good points:1. Uses regular alkaline batteries. Some might prefer a built-in rechargable battery but I've found those to be non-replaceable and usually fail to keep a charge after a year or two.2. Includes a plug-in car power cord for use without batteries from a vehicle or boat. The included cord is fairly short but I solved any issue this may cause by buying an extension adapter.3. For it's size, the waypoint has good throw. Farther than my Fenix TK41 which is also a good thrower4. Compact size, easy to use5. Made by a well known manufacturer which typically means good quality and customer service6. Has top piece that allows the spotlight to be used on the ground without holding it.Bad points:can't think of anyOverall, I'd recommend this spotlight.

Holds Great Promise ... if it lasts
January 27, 2017
Compact ... bright enough ... rechargeable ... and it floats. I can only hope it lasts. It is well built, but one never knows about the rechargeable battery life and the ease of replacing a worn-out battery or even if you can obtain a replacement. Some items like this are "throw-aways" when they become defective.
Super Bright!!!
July 19, 2016
This was given as a gift! The person that I gave it to loves this. It took a while to finally get this shipped but once it came it has been used many times. The light is bright and can shine very far. We use this for camping especially during set up in the dark and when taking the dogs for a walk. It is bright enough for other cars to see and also to know what is in front of us.
Great flashlight
May 9, 2016
This is a great flashlight! I got it to keep beside me when I am sitting outside at my chimenea in the evenings and hear a noise and want to check out what animal might be lurking. It has a strong beam and I can see all the way to the end of my property. It's very easy to charge -- just unscrew the back and plug it in. Lightweight and easy to handle. I just ordered another one for indoors. I will use it when I inspect my attic -- it will beam into the far, dark corners. Love it!
Very well made, very sturdy feeling and very bright.
January 9, 2016
Very well made, very sturdy feeling and very bright. Comes so you can charge it in the home or from the car, and that is where I am using it. I bought it to look at street signs etc., while I am driving. It is a nice color combination, so it is easy to see. The back end is where you take off the cap to charge it and that was very difficult to take off the first time. I had to get my son to do it and he had trouble also. Once we loosen it I believe it will be easier when I have to charge it again.
but my step-dad recently told me that it was the best gift and they love it
November 13, 2015
This was a gift to my parents after they moved to an area with lots of wildlife. They keep it by their back door and check out who is visiting, almost nightly. I wouldn't review something I gave to someone else for fear of not reviewing honestly, but my step-dad recently told me that it was the best gift and they love it, without me asking. It's a nice little powerful hand light.
great for use on a boat in case of emergencies at night/underwater.
December 2, 2014
works great... mine worked so great that I bought a second one after I messed up my first one. I had my spotlight charging and ran into an "underwater emergency" and ended up having to get under my boat to check it out after getting snagged on a crab pot. worked great for a couple minutes which is when I realized that I forgot to close the charger port before I submerged it.Truth be told it still worked great even though it was completely filled with water, I was able to finish what I needed to do, but the spotlight never functioned properly again after that. All of that was operator error, and I still bought another one.

Absolutely love Streamlight products
August 7, 2016
Absolutely love Streamlight products. Great lights at a great price. This is no exception, took it down to the docks last night and lit up the local lighthouse out on the breakwall. It wasn't brightly lit, but easily seen. Since it is almost exactly 1 kilometer from where I stood, I thought that was pretty impressive. I bought this on a whim, but after a little research would probably have opted for the newer 44910. Twice the price, but worth it as it is brighter and has the on board rechargeable li ion battery. Oh well, I guess I will just get both.

May 26, 2015
I received the Streamlight today. It seems to put out quite a bit of light. I only gave it 4 stars because it clearly states that 4 C cell batteries are included...mine were not. Had to make a run to Home Depot for batteries.
nice size, fairly bright.
April 12, 2015
Pretty bright and a nice size. Beam could be a bit more focused though. Not bad though say at 300 ft.My strap was defective and unusable but no biggie
Great bright lite for emergencys
April 5, 2015
Great grab and go emergency lite. The reason for four stars is the on/off rubber switch. Hard to press on and off. If you have a little arthritis in your hands, it is really hard to do this simple task.
Great spot light!
January 24, 2014
The Streamlight spot light is an excellent choice for those who need a multi-purpose, durable, light weight and dependable spot light. I did not give it 5 stars because the small attachment lanyard that loops through the bottom handle of the light and then clips to the large wrist strap was not included with the factory packaging. I bought two of these lights and neither had this item. (Somebody should pay more attention at the packaging end!) I didn't waste the extra money on the rechargeble model because good quality non-rechargeable "C" batteries will last a very long time without the extra recharge hassle or expense. Despite the variation in some of the written specifications (weight of the unit etc.) the 44905 models are exactly the same; I have both colors. So don't spend more money on the black model thinking it has something the other light (with the same model number) does not. Get the less expensive black & yellow color and save your cash. Hope this is helpful to all. Scarecrow
Nice sized light
December 22, 2012
I bought 2 of these and love them. They are the perfect size. Bigger than a decent sized flashlight, but smaller than a handheld spotlight.Very bright beam as well. My favorite part is the 'strobe' feature. I blasted my wife with the strobe and she said she could not see for 5 minutes. I love it!

Awesome lamp. Great buy and price.
September 2, 2017
This thing as pretty rad. Really bright. I mean really bright. Battery didn't last as long as I had hoped but still plenty for most situations. Fantastic for the budget conscious. I use it on my boat at night.
Good light. I like it.
March 19, 2017
Nice light. Bright. Great for use around the pond.
I would buy it again, for sure!
February 24, 2015
I really like this flashlight, the size the shape the weight, it holds the charge well, my only problem with this is that mine has a short in it and it turns on and off on it's own. I use it for about 30 minutes every single day and except for the short, It is my favorite out of 5 different flashlights I have
... model of this light (this light now has an easy to operate trigger
November 23, 2014
Several of these reviews are for an earlier model of this light (this light now has an easy to operate trigger, pull and release once for a bright beam, pull and release again for a dim beam, pull and release again for OFF). I've had mine for about a week and use it while delivering at night. Phenomenal light, small but fits in my hand perfectly (big hands). Floats, waterproof, not too heavy but you can feel the durability. This is a great spotlight.
Pretty good light
January 13, 2014
I like that this light is relatively small for the light it puts out. The beam is very concentrated and bright. It has a rotary switch which means it won't accidentally get turned on, making whatever it is in toasty and running down the battery. It really has 3 brightnesses -- when initially turned on it is somewhere between the low and high settings. Once you change it to low or high, those are the only two brightnesses.I did initially test the floatability and waterproofness by dropping it in a sink of water. It does float. Waterproof it wasn't. I'll have to put some grease on the o-rings and see if that fixes it. If not, it's not a big deal for me as I really don't plan to use it underwater anyway. All in all, it is a fairly good light in a fairly small package.
Very useful light, but made in China
July 18, 2013
I loved this spotlight I bought for my husband, so I also got one for my dad. It's waterproof, so there's a knob with a gasket which must be removed before you can charge the light. The box also includes a car charger. It's a very bright light, lightweight, and the battery lasts a long time. But I was disappointed to see that on the box for the second one I purchased, it had big letters that said "Made in China." I hadn't noticed that on the first light, or maybe the company switched where they were manufacturing them in the past year (between my purchases). I like the light, but the country of origin is why I can't give it 5 stars.

Ok. I'll have to take back my last review. This morning went duck hunting. I dropped it in 2 inches of water. Picked it right up. Now it doesn't work. So I guess it's really not water resistant.

Not to bright.
July 14, 2014
After reading other reviews I expected this light to be more than what arrived. The construction of the light is very good and feels like a nice quality light. The brightness and distance of beam leaves something to be desired. I will keep the light because it feels like a quality item but will search for another spot that has more power..
Not that great
January 27, 2014
First I misread (My bad) and I thought it was rechargeable. It is not. The brightness is not that great. It is not a bad product it just is not worth the money spent. I have had other similar model for half the price in the past that were just as good.

November 10, 2013
Very strong light beam. Appears to be good heavy construction .I like the bright yellow color its easy to identify when missing. I would have given it 5 stars except for the following reasons. As a tool its way too heavy and awkward to pack around while doing chores in the dark or for spotlighting varmints .Also the switch is a trigger which has way too much resistance and snapping noise when depressing. My wife thought it was broke and wouldn't depress till I told her to bear down on it. I've been using for a couple of weeks since the time changeI also found the same light at Interstate Battery store for $10 less ,$69.I much prefer the mag lite which fits in pockets easily. For a light to leave in the vehicle or house its great .

Battery dies too fast.
Great light for 18 months, then died when out of warranty
April 26, 2016
It worked very well for a year and a half, then mysteriously stopped working. I even used it snorkeling once when it was new, to peek into some dark holes. One day it wouldn't turn on, so I charged it fully, and it still won't turn on. I thought I'd buy another one, but seeing other people who have had a similar failure with much newer ones, I'm not sure I'd trust one of these again. I see the more expensive, more powerful, multi-LED Lithium Ion powered Stanley spotlights have some similar reviews, with most people loving them, but a number having them quit working at random times. Those have a 3 year warranty vs the 1 year warranty on this model, so I'm replacing this light with this one: Stanley SL10LEDS 10 Watt Lithium-Ion LED Spotlight

October 11, 2015
Poor design. The trigger and the little housing between the trigger and the handle came loose after a few weeks. Now there is no rhyme or reason to explain when the light turns on and off. When working properly, this was exactly what I needed. I would not recommend this light.
Bright light but not being able to leave it plugged in to the charger is a deal-killer
November 17, 2013
I have a lot of flashlights of the non-rechargeable type including headlamps which are extremely useful. Wanted a light to keep by the door of my houseboat, ready to go, always fully charged and always at-hand since it would be connected to the wall by a cord. This is a bright light but extremely bulky, especially if you're used to headlamps, or excellent flashlights like the Streamlight ProTac 2L and similar lights. But the main disadvantage is that YOU CANNOT LEAVE IT ON THE CHARGER, at least according to the instructions. Would never have purchased if I had noticed this aspect of it.
LED light is not the best for detail work
August 22, 2013
A little hard to charge because you have unscrew the waterproofing cap to get to the charge port. The unit is lightweight and handy. The on/off dim switch is cumbersome to use. This is personal preference - the LED light is very bright but seeing detail with LED light is more difficult than incandescent. The color temperature of the light is too much toward blue light. The eye does not deal well with blue/white light for detail work.
Meh
April 17, 2013
The major problem I have with this light is it's switch. It works, but you have to rotate it quite a bit which for me is a problem. I use this during bad weather...1. it's hard to turn it on while running the boat2. The brightness button was broke the first day before I even got it on the boat. It's okay on brightness, but don't expect it to really be that great out in bad weather.

December 6, 2015
I returned this lantern. I bought a rechargeable Stanley that was WAY brighter for $17. I can't understand why the Streamlight is so expensive? Maybe because it's water resistant? Anyway I was shopping for the brightest lantern I could find and this wasn't it.
Disappointing :-(
May 25, 2015
I have to say that I am rather disappointed in the cable connector that is attached to the bottom of the base/handle area of the flashlight when hooked up to a 12V battery, it does not connect quite right. When the flashlight or cable is shifted ever so slightly, it disconnects the cable, and then turns the light off. Perhaps this would not happen if I were using a battery with the cable, but with the cable alone, it powers off. It's a shame because it seems to be a solid unit. It's bright, it has 3 adjustments: one hi, one low, and a strobe. But the cable thing is difficult to see past as it's a primary reason for my decision to buy it. I used it one night when I was working on my boat - in my driveway in the dark, and I constantly had to wiggle the cable, and turn it back on - very disappointing. Maybe I got a bum unit, but I would not recommend it. Go with a similar unit but different manufacturer.

Update
August 23, 2017
Hubby loves it. Holds charge exceptionally well. Very light weight. Have not tested the claim that it is water proof. UPDATE: Used very little and pampered. Light won't turn off no matter what we do. After looking on line it appears to be a common problem with this model!
Good light - Terrible battery
July 2, 2017
The light is good, but the battery is awful. If I leave it sitting in a drawer (which I mostly do) it will drain within a week. I have to make sure I charge it if I know I'm going to use it. If I *don't* know I'm going to use it, it's pointless.
I have been very disappointed with them
March 23, 2017
I had another Stanley light and it lasted for 3/4 years. I ordered 2 lanterns to replace it and have an extra. The other lantern would hold a charge for a minimum of a week, usually longer. These do not hold a charge. I use them for doing animal chores and am lucky if I get 15-20 minutes out of a charge. I have been very disappointed with them.
pros: bright, comes with car charger cons: never lasted more than two minutes.
June 21, 2016
I kept it fully charged, barely ever used it; the battery lasted less than a year before failing (red and green LED's flash back and forth). Never kept lit for more than two minutes before the battery light started going red (usually less than 20 seconds). It's extremely bright and I was excited when I first bought it because 1) it was rechargeable...no alkaline batteries 2) It came with a 12v car adapter, and 3) it came with an AC adapter. Replacing the battery is just as difficult and proprietary as my previous Black & Decker spotlight (which I quickly thew out because it never worked and a replacement battery was impossible to find in the correct dimensions).I've decided my alkaline D-cell spotlight (along with a full-size D-cell maglite) are more reliable products. I'd recommend getting some rechargeable D-cell batteries and get another brand than runs off alkaline / standardized (AAA,AA,C,D,etc.) rechargeable batteries.
Great if it works.
February 12, 2016
I bought the spotlight about six months ago for work I deliver newspapers at night and it really helps seeing addresses in the dark. The spotlight works really well very small very bright hold a charge for a real long time. I love everything about it with the exception that for the last month or two I've been unable to get it to charge so most is if they're short on the prong where you plug the charger into I've tried both wall outlet and car chargers, both with the same result. It's expensive piece of equipment to have broken after only a couple months.
Not big enough
April 6, 2014
I should have bought the SL500HL again (looks like this has been replaced by the similar to SL5W09). Somehow I got distracted and bought the FL5W10. It's a good light - just not for me. If water concerns are important than you won't mind having to screw/unscrew the cap to plug in the charger. This looks like a thread combination that will cross-thread in a matter of time. Turning the knob to turn the light on is inconvenient and difficult for old hands - sometimes a two-hand operation. It’s interesting that the photo shows the standard trigger. I was unaware of its capability of adjusting the beam intensity and it means little to me. I always want a full beam. That's why I got a spot light. And speaking of beam, this one is much more narrow than the SL500HL. And therefore less useful. I'll keep the light but it looks like I will have to buy the SL5W09 if I want ease of use and broad-beam capability.

so it makes the pair easy to lose
November 9, 2017
It actually worked well for a while, but in less than a year the bulb blew. I attempted to contact Stanley to try and replace it, but it turns out Stanley doesn't even make this flashlight, they have a company named Baccus Global LLC make them. The return policy says a year BUT they will not pay shipping costs on the replacement. What happens in a year when the bulb blows again - this time out of warranty? Also - the charger is not attached to the flashlight, so it makes the pair easy to lose. While it worked it was a decent little flashlight, but I'm not interested if the bulb won't last a year and is not replaceable.
Safe your money and time.
August 21, 2017
After the initial charging was done as recommended and the 1st use of this light while enjoying a nice campfire and using it to obtain additional firewood at different times during the evening, I plugged it in to recharge it after each use as recommended in the instructions and it never turned on again.Luckily I had no problem returning it and getting a refund...I would not recommend it to anyone unless they were our on my poop list.
Goes out when needed most
July 2, 2017
I have had this for a few frustrating years. The issue is that it doesn't dim as it runs low on charge. It just beeps and goes out. This can leave you in a bad situation. It loses charge while sitting and doesn't have much capacity anyway. Just threw mine out. There are better units on the market. I like one from Dorcy.
Smells like burnt electronics
January 25, 2017
Purchased light a couple months back. Charged it once and shined it around the house to check it out and put it away inside in a closet(inside my house). Just took it and fully charged it and nothing. Smells like burnt electronics. TOTAL waste of money and never once was it even taken outside... VERY disappointed.
Good idea, great when it worked
May 3, 2016
Sadly, this was a fail. I used this 3 or 4 times to test it as it sat on the boat. After about 6 months, the trigger switch failed--no switch, no light. Not very dependable. The unit worked outside of the housing, so it was clearly the trigger that failed. Good idea, great when it worked.
I wouldn't buy it again. I dont think
February 18, 2016
I need a good flashlight for work. first one I bought the trigger stopped working right away. They sent me another one. It worked for about a month and then the trigger stopped again. I should of been done at that point but I saw it on sale and figured I'd give it another shot. Worked for a day and the trigger stopped working. Fool me once shame on you, fool me...
