It makes enough popcorn to fill a large theater-size popcorn tub and is easy to clean
March 26, 2017
My husband is an avid popcorn lover and a popcorn critic. He has now used this popcorn maker almost every night since he received it on Feb. 14. Needless to say, he loves it! It makes enough popcorn to fill a large theater-size popcorn tub and is easy to clean. It is now a permanent piece in our kitchen nook. We make popcorn to bring to snacks to our bible studies. This was a hit all around.
Fantastic Popper
February 23, 2017
I placed my order for this popper at approx 8:30-9:00pm on Tues and it was delivered at about 10am this morning, Thursday. It was in perfect condition right out of the box. I had the kettle in and the doors on in under 15 min and had my 1st batch of delicious, crisp, salty popcorn shortly thereafter. This paper replaced a Nostalgia popper with a 2 1/2oz kettle that usually had more old maids than popped corn. I couldn't believe it when I was done and cleaned it up. After 2 batches I only had about a dozen old maids in the catch pan. This is mainly for home use but I am planning on offering to bring it to my church for special functions to make fresh popcorn for the crowd.
Love it!!
February 2, 2017
LOVE it!! We have 3 young kids and I LOVE going down to this machine and just making up a batch at least once a week! We have let the popcorn sit in it for up to 3 days and the popcorn still tastes great!Make sure to heat up the pot, long enough. We noticed a lot of un-poped kernels but after we let the pot heat up longer before adding the kernels that made a big difference!
A perfect popper!

We love this machine! It makes true movie theater popcorn. This is our second popper because the person who bought our house when we moved insisted to have our first popper as a contingency of sale (weird, I know. I guess you can say this popper is so good, it sold our house!). The easiest way to make popcorn is to buy the pre-measured popcorn packs that have oil, salt and popcorn. The machine is easy to use and a fun snack for movie time, sleepovers, friends, etc... One pre-measured pack is plenty for 4-6 people. If you need more, the machine will hold *2-3 batches and keeps it warm and crispy. (*do not try to pop more than one batch in the kettle at a time. Pop separate batches). It also makes the house smell great!Bottom line, this is a well built, sturdy, all glass and metal machine that is great quality. We had our first machine for 2 years and used it constantly and it was still going strong when we moved. We look forward to many years of awesome popcorn with our new machine.
Love the popcorn popper!
January 7, 2017
We've always wanted a popcorn popper that makes more like theater popcorn and this is it! We've only used it a few times since we purchased it a month ago, but so far it works great. It takes a little learning in order to know the correct amount of oil vs. popcorn vs. seasoning, but after a couple taste tests, you'll find your liking. As much as our family likes popcorn, we hope this machine will last a long time!
Love this Popcorn Popper!!
January 3, 2015
Bought this as my husbands Christmas present and I have to say I wish we would have gotten one sooner!! OMGosh - This thing is amazing :) Super fast and super quiet running motor. We love it!! He has always wanted one and this Popcorn Popper does not disappoint! We aren't using the commercial packets to pop - instead are popping using 1/4 cup coconut oil to 1 cup popcorn and it is AMAZING!!! Perfect Perfect Perfect!! The most delicious popcorn ever! We went to the movie theater yesterday and my husband always has theater popcorn and he passed on it saying ours at home is better!! Which is saying something if you like theater popcorn! I love it too especially with my food allergies, we know what we are eating which is perfect for us!

This was a birthday present. I did a ton of research before finding the right popcorn machine to buy and this one was over all the best. And When it arrived it was easy to assemble. We've been using it EVERY NIGHT. weve had it for a good....3 weeks now. Yes. we love popcorn. and it tastes amazing. better than some movie popcorn, but at the least just as good. ( we get the great northern popcorn popcorn packs that comes with butter and seasoning)We clean it once a week. .. since we use it so often. and its easy. to clean. sturdy. especially for the price. BUY IT you wont regret it. he said it was the best birthday gift hes ever gotten.
Great product for popcorn lovers
November 2, 2016
My family has an obsession with popcorn and this machine had made popping popcorn fun and easy. It's very simple to put together. Even easier to use. There is hardly any clean up and it makes popcorn really fast. Definitely a great product.
E Z Fun v. Cast Iron Skillet
September 7, 2016
Just popped 6 batches. Fun! 2 for lunch snacks for tomorrow @ work. My recipe is 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with butter; 3/8 teaspoon of Flavacol and the 1/3 cup of popcorn. Of course the saltiness will vary per the amount of corn that is included. OLD MAIDS have little to do with this machine. It does a good job. OLD MAIDS have to do with the freshness of your corn. The ideal moisture content of popcorn is 12% but of course, over time, that will come down and the number of old maids will increase. Personally I like the half popped kernals as I find them to be more flavorful and crunchier. I am looking forward to experimenting with other flavors. The first machine did arrive with a cracked back wall but Amazon was GREAT about immediately shipping the replacement. I just need to return the first machine soon. And the price was the best around! It is certainly a lot easier than shaking that old cast iron skillet all over the stove! LOVE IT!
Out of the box easy assembly. A quick wipe down and some review ...
April 14, 2016
Out of the box easy assembly. A quick wipe down and some review instructions on best options and this is what I found. I purchased Snappy coconut oil, Flavacol seasoning and Orville Redenbacher's white popping corn. I measured 3 tbsp of coconut oil and 1 tsp of the seasoning salt and melted in microwave. Only melted not heated. Next, I turned on both heating elements for 2 1/2 mins added the oil (only 1 measure from the provided scoop) for another minute then added one scoop of corn using the measuring cup that came with the machine. The corn popped out of the tub just like at the movie theatre. The popcorn was amazing. I purposely did this set up to make two batches back to back. I need enough for myself after all. I have the grandkids coming this weekend and thought they would enjoy this. I had to try it so I would look like I knew what I was doing. My husband and brother in law loved it. The kitchen smells like a movie theater. Oh, I almost forgot, the machine comes with popcorn type movie bags. I invested in a shaker to put the flavored salt in. Well worth the investment. This would make a great gift!
Received the popcorn corn machine in great condition, plugged it in
July 16, 2015
Received the popcorn corn machine in great condition , plugged it in , waited three minutes, poured in the "stuff" and had awesome popcorn in a few minutes. Popcorn was perfect. I used canola oil, regular Jiffy popcorn, and added some Flavacol to the oil. I can't wait to try different things like coconut oil and better popcorn. This machine is really nice. Disappointed that Amazon lowered the price for Prime Day but that happens I guess. Made enough to feed three guys in less than fifteen minutes, you have to keep making the batches, but that's not a big deal as I can drink more beer that way. Did I mention this is an awesome machine?
Pleased as Punch with Our Pop Pup Popcorn Machine!
June 9, 2015
Once we started hearing how bad microwave popcorn can be for you we decided to switch. We had tried an air popper but I did not like it. My husband wanted one similar to one at the movie theaters but space is somewhat of a challenge in our kitchen. I found the Pop Pup, read the reviews and decided that we should try it. I am happy to say that we are not in the least disappointed. First and foremost it produces excellent popcorn. I purchased Snappy Popcorn Supplies, Colored Coconut Oil, Gold Medal Prod. 2045 Flavacol Seasoning Popcorn Salt and Arrowhead Mills Organic Whole Yellow Popcorn, turned the Pop Pup into our very own popcorn marvel. My husband would like to add butter but I think that it is fantastic just the way it is. Add to this that the machine is easy to use AND easy to clean and you just can't go wrong. Some of the reviews mentioned the amount of popcorn that the Pop Pup can produce at once is small or not enough. For us, it is the perfect amount. There are usually two or three of us sharing, two adults and one teenager and there has only been one time that we popped a second batch. If you want to pop a large amount at one time then you probably want a bigger machine but for basic snacking of 1-3 people it is perfect and frankly it would be very easy to pop a second or third batch after your first. One of the things that I personally like about this popper is that it is fun, so much so that I look forward to using it. Anything that gives me the motivation to make and have a healthy snack rather than opening up a bag of chips gets five stars in my book..Anything that will motivate that members of my family to do the same deserves far more. You can get the Pop Pup and all you need to make terrific popcorn for under $60. What are you waiting for?

The smile on my Supvrs face was like a kid with a new toy
June 12, 2017
This unit is huge! Too biggly for my house, so I took it to work. The smile on my Supvrs face was like a kid with a new toy!We use it up to three times daily, clean once daily. So far no signs of rust on the ceiling as some users have reported. Easy instructions are printed on the glass doors, The bottom plate has a warmer to keep popcorn warm!
Good machine that makes great popcorn
January 5, 2017
Overall I really like this popcorn machine. We bought the Roosevelt as a family gift for Christmas. My 9 year old daughter and 13 year old son were so excited to open it up, especially since it was a rather large box. We wanted a popcorn machine that could make movie theatre quality popcorn and many of the reviews confirmed this was the machine to do it. Rather than getting the pre-measured packets, we bought a jug of coconut oil and flavacol from Amazon and it came with a bag of popcorn. This is really the most cost effective way to go. It has taken some trial and error to get the combination and process just right. We tried a few different ways from other reviews, but for us this is the best. Put 1/3 cup of coconut oil in the kettle and turn on the burner. Once the oil melts, put in 2/3 cup of kernels, turn on the stirrer, and sprinkle in not quite a teaspoon of flavacol. Once the popcorn is done popping tip the kettle and shake out the remaining popcorn. I found that if you put in more than 2/3 cup of kernels, many of them spill out of the kettle as the popcorn pops and you waste a lot. You end up with about the same amount of popped popcorn and have less waste. Also, when using too many kernels you end up with quite a bit of popcorn that didn't get coated in the oil and then you don't get the movie theatre taste. Following this process, the popcorn is awesome and is really better than the movie theatre.Clean up takes a little commitment. I wipe out the cabinet with a damp sponge and then with dry towel. Be sure to get the ceiling, otherwise the splatter may pit the metal after time. Take out the kettle and wipe it out with a paper towel to get the crumbs and excess oil. Then I wipe out the kettle with a damp sponge and a dry towel. Be careful. The sheet metal on the kettle and the arms that hang down from the top of the machine are sharp! I have cut myself a few times now wiping it out. It takes me about 10 minutes to clean up the machine. It is worth it though, the popcorn is that good.I wish this machine had a warming tray. It has a warming lamp, but it is in the corner with a small bulb and only keeps that corner warm. If you make a lot of popcorn, the opposite corner won't stay warm for very long.Overall we love the machine, but next time I would make sure I got one with the warming tray.
Great buy with easy and minimal installation required
January 3, 2017
Purchased as morale for our team. Easy and minimal installation process. We were "up and popping" within about 15 minutes of opening the box, if not less. Only issues we had were dings with the popcorn machine itself, likely from shipping, that may some parts not go together as easily. Nothing so major that made it worth it to exchange. Specifically, one of the hinges for the glass door required tightening with the screws and the metal drawer that collects the loose pieces of popcorn underneath the machine does not slide in/out easily due to some misshapen metal. Overall, a great and easy purchase.Side note: we also purchase the 8-ounce portion packs and they are nice and easy - no measuring required and the coconut oil comes out easier than expected.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PDY3HI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Good Product and Fun Add to Movie Night
May 3, 2016
We replaced a smaller popcorn machine with this larger model which has more features. It was easy to assemble out of the carton and fit well on the table we have in our t.v. room. It is just my husband and I, but we love watching movies on occasional Saturday nights. We kept the original smaller machine for about a year with the idea that, if we used it and enjoyed it regularly, we would upgrade. This is the machine we upgraded to. Our grandchildren love it, and we make plenty of fresh popcorn whenever they are staying with us. It is a nice machine. Love the glass which doesn't get too messy during popping, and is easy to keep clean and nice looking. The pot does retain popcorn and oil residue, but that doesn't seem to have been a problem thus far. We do clean it by wiping with a damp cloth per the manual that came with the machine. The popcorn holders weren't great...the dye seemed to smear which is a bit disturbing, so we decided to not keep them. Like the popcorn scoop and the access to the popcorn via the tilt-out panel in the front. Overall a nice addition to our home. Not super expensive and good quality for the investment. Like that the company is offering a charity donation for a review. This review is not biased due to the donation option, but did motivate me to post one.
Great Popcorn!
November 10, 2015
We've had this popper for awhile now. When it arrived, the seed drawer was so bent that it would not fit into the slot. My husband had to fix that. It was not done during shipping as it was very well packed. Quality control should have caught this. Makes good popcorn, easy to clean. That is if you clean it after every use. One draw back is that the entire edge inside of the popper is very hard to clean. Small pieces get into the edge and can't be wiped up. Other than that, it's a great popper.
Great Machine.
December 27, 2013
Ok, let me start of by saying I am a very picky and an admitted indecisive buyer. I gather the most research and info available when making a purchase, especially on electrical type products. For the most part, all the reviews on this machine were VERY GOOD with a very small amount of negative reviews. However, I always tend to read the worse first. With that said, My machine arrived much quicker than estimated delivery date. A total of 2 days from purchase to delivery. I had no visible flaws with the machine when pulled out of the packing. NO dents, NO scratches, NO missing parts. To be honest I have been to the local party store and checked out their commercial grade paragon machine that they use for rentals and big events. I also checked out another professional model for about $500 at another local store. I believe the brand was Gold Metal?? I can tell you now, that the difference between this machine and the other higher priced models are extremely miniscue if any. To be honest, the construction was very similar if not the same. The Roosevelt 8oz is built with heavy glass doors, and stainless steel. The kettle mechanism is built and no different than the other higher end models. Not sure if the components or motor used are the main factors in price, but I have to say I was not expecting much in durable quality as the higher priced machines I saw in person. The result? I was extremely surprised to find the Roosevelt was on par in quality. Keep in mind, I found the machine brand new on Amazon for $130 brand new with free shipping. Two hours later, when I showed my wife the machine I purchased, the price was now at $200. Not sure how or why, but apparently I got a great deal. Timing is everything I guess. Assembly was extremely fast and easy. No tools required. The only thing that caused me a slight problem.. and I still don't know why, was lining up the kettle with the two holders, and turning pin. For some reason I struggled with this for several minutes before getting it put in place. Now, I have read some reviews where some people mention the doors not aligning properly with the top, or sealing correctly. Well, its not suppose to. Its made to have a gap for ventilation. My bottom flip drawer opens and closes properly, it does not pop out of place as some have mentioned. As far as cleaning? I have not removed the kettle, but did not find it a nightmare to wipe completely clean. Not sure why some are mentioning having to use a screwdriver to get the lid off, etc. etc.. to clean properly. Keep in mind,, you are talking about oils and the like. You are not suppose to clean with water and soap. This is a no, no. You can easily lift the lid on one end.. clean out that side, then lift the lid on the other end, and clean that side as well. Its not recommended or necessary to take out the popper to soak or wash out with soap and water. My experience is that cleaning is not as bad as some people make it out to be. Performance? Exrtemely quick. Once you turn the machine on and put the oil in, it is within 2 minutes that the oil is melted and hot enough for popping. Another 3 minutes or so, and you should have 1 cup of kernels popped and ready to eat. In an 8 ounce machine, 1 cup of kernels is more than enough for a family of 4. We have also had a few parties where the machine popped continuously for about 2 hours. Not a glitch, or a problem in producing a lot of popcorn. Just recently my son used it for a fall festival at school. He actually was making popcorn continuously for 3 hours. No problem. Now, keep in mind. If you are buying this machine to use mostly in a commercial setting where you are making tons of popcorn for a lot of people? you might want to go with a bigger kettle and holding bin. Could this machine handle it? Sure, but an 8 oz kettle is only going to accommodate 6-7 bags a batch. You would be popping non stop. However, is ideal for a larger type family? Excellent. Now, in the fairly short time owning the machine, we have used it more than the average family would. Not to mention a few events we brought the machine to for numerous people. It performed flawlessly. For a family setting, or home theater, I would have to say this machine is more than Ideal. THE CONS: Truly, as of today as I write this, there really are none. My goal is to update this review over time to see if any problems occur. However, some advice to keep in mind. THIS MACHINE... or ANY MACHINE is not going to make movie style type popcorn simply by putting in the oil and kernels. This solely depends on the INGREDIENTS you USE in the machine. The MAIN ingredients to use with this popper to achieve this is COCONUT OIL, and FLAVACOL seasoning. I do not buy the pre made packs. I find it way too expensive, and found buying a 9 pound jug of coconut oil (Snappy popping coconut oil $19.99) and a quart of (Flavacol seasoning $3.99 ) and 12 pound bag of Kernels $14.99. You are looking at about .25 cents a batch. Trial and error with your brand of kernels can yield different result. When buying bulk with kernels be sure to pour them in containers to keep them fresh longer. Personally, the best ratio I have found for this machine is 1/3 cup of coconut oil, 1 cup of kernels, and a slight smidgen short of a teaspoon of flavacol ( for 8 oz kettle). Of course this is dependent on your personal taste. I don't like my popcorn too salty. The directions for the Roosevelt would recommend using a slightly smaller portion of kernels to the mix. However, I have found no problems with using this amount as other users who have recommended the same measurements. Of course I cheated and was given access to a small storage room in the local AMC theatre and went out and bought the same ingredients and products. I figure if it taste good there,, it should taste the same at home.. And, yes.. it does. Now that I think about it, and before ending. I will say there is indeed one CON to this machine. If you order the machine without the cart (like I did), then decide to go ahead and purchase the cart... YOU CAN"T. They only sell the carts with the machine at the time of purchase You can not order a cart for this machine later on down the line. :( Bummer.

It worked pretty well, but I have a few notes
March 17, 2017
I bought one for an office event to supplement an older Warring 2.5oz popcorn machine. It worked pretty well, but I have a few notes. 1: setting the kettle in the frame required some pushing and forcing into place. 2: the cable is a little too long and kinda in the way, I wish the plug was placed further in the back. 3: the lid of the kettle does not stay open to pour the ingredients in. This can be a quite a problem if you use the pre-packaged oil that has to be squeezed in the kettle and risk either burning your hands or squeezing oil around the kettle which can cause a mess. Other than this it worked well in continuous use for 3 hours in parallel with my older Warring popcorn maker. The Warring actually had to take a couple of breaks to be cleaned up, but we had no issue with the Great Northern. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase.
Movie theater popcorn whenever you want it!
November 1, 2016
We use this every week at work for popcorn Wednesday! For about 20 people I pop about 5-8 batches throughout the day!! Works GREAT!!! Definitely worth the money. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the piece of plastic on the backside was cracked but I didn't have time to send it back and it doesn't affect the way it works.
He loved it and it works great
April 3, 2016
Got this for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. He loved it and it works great! The only caveat is that the popcorn can get stuck in the machine easily instead of coming out of the top even when you put the proper amount in. Also a little difficult to clean. You can also take popcorn out of the microwaveable bags and put it in there in a pinch, but it will get messy. Overall, a good product and would recommend. Great Northern Popcorn Machine Pop Pup 2-1/2oz Retro Style Popcorn Popper
Good Machine
March 30, 2016
This machine is so much fun to use. My wife and family enjoy using it. The only draw back is the amount of popcorn it puts out. It's not a big problem because we just love using it. It would however be nice if it produced more at one time. Other than that, we are very pleased with this machine. I would recommend it to anyone.
Super fun for the kids.
March 15, 2016
It's a really cool machine. For 35.00 it's amazing amount of fun. However, it's a bit much to keep clean. I am committed to it. If your not into keeping your tools clean, don't buy it. Get the cheap air popper. But if you want some bells and whistles for the kids, this is it. Once I figured out how to get the popper out, it was easy. Needs to be cleaned after each use. I would get the bigger machine if Ibhad it to do over. Love popcorn. Need more.
tried the organic Great Northern yellow pop corn first
March 10, 2015
Just got my unit, tried the organic Great Northern yellow pop corn first, had way too many kernels flying out not popped on the first time, tried it again the machine was hotter and less un-popped kernels. I then tried the cheap Best Value yellow and had few un-popped kernels flying out. I like it and will use it often. I takes about 3 poppers for my house hold but doesn't take long to cook them. Working on an easier way to clean it. I am thinking about a small string hand held dish mop to wipe it out with in between uses. I tried the coconut oil 1 TB spoon and it worked great. I melt it in the microwave first. I plan on making my own oil/corn pouches to make it easier and more convenient.

Popcorn review.
October 8, 2017
Its just OK, but what can you expect for under$150.00The biggest issue I have with it is if you put one cup of Jiffy pop in the pot and when it starts really cooking it will pop so fast all the popcorn will get stuck in the pot and not come out. I mean pot is top to bottom compact poped popcorn you need to turn the power off before you burn the popcorn and then pry the compacted popcorn out of the pot with a sturdy utensil. So I'v learned to just put 3/4 cup in there with about a up of coconut oil butter flavor.Seems to be ok and jiffy pop does make great popcorn. Also the little tin tip out at the bottom like to come out of its little grooves. So far havent had any Equipment failures. The next popcorn mechine I buy will be a better one tho.
Great price and unit but with some minor drawbacks
September 27, 2017
We love our machine but I cannot give it 5 stars. First of all the filling pot is so inconvenient when using the all in one package of corn/oil/salt. I burn my hand at least once a night. Secondly, you must disconnect the entire pot to clean up afterwards. Do this too many times and the frail drop downs that hold the pot in place will eventually wear down or break, sooner rather than later. I wish it was easier to put the popcorn and oil into the unit, but otherwise the unit is great and a great price.
Good popcorn machine, mine arrived damaged, but I fixed it and all is good in popcornville
September 26, 2017
This is a good popcorn machine, so far we have used it 6 times in 5 days. I would probably give it a 4 star rating but it does have a few flaws and another reason I'll get to later. When I use the popper, it does a great job until the corn gets to popping fast and hard. Then the flaps on the kettle stick wide open and a lot of the kernels jump out and do not get popped. If you try to hold the flaps open about half way with a long handled wood spoon to prevent this the popped corn ends up getting jammed in the kettle and wont' come out. The kettle is fairly easy to clean but the flaps or lids are very sharp. Gotta be very careful or you'll cut yourself. I WOULD NOT let my child clean this kettle because they'll get cut badly on the flaps. Clean up of the machine, glass, bottom, old maid drawer and so on takes a little time but cleans up good. Heat tray and light work very good. We popped corn at 4pm today and I just got the last of it at 11pm and it was still nice and warm. In the end it makes good popcorn and thats really the end goal here. We had ordered the portion packs by great northern but did not have them this weekend. We went to the store and bought coconut oil, and popcorn kernels. I put 1/3rd cup oil and premixed 1 table spoon flavacol into it good. When kettle was hot I dumped the oil mix and 1 cup kernels in the 8 oz kettle. It made pretty good popcorn but we noticed a little bit of a stale texture to the popcorn. Yesterday out 40 portion pack case arrived. It has Kernels, buttery oil and flavacol. It made much better popcorn than our personal mix from the weekend, also was yellow colored instead of white and tasted more buttery. So I'd definitely recommend the portion packs. Now, onto the 3 star rating. My machine arrived damaged. Apparently the box it is packaged in had been dropped pretty hard, hard enough to warp the whole machine, crush in the old maid tray holder/tracks and cause the inside of the top where the metal meets the glass to bent downward somewhat. I'm a pretty good jack of all trades so I just fixed all the problems myself. I had to remove the popcorn tray to get to the tracks for the old maid drawer, they were bent bad, looked like a car wreck. I was able to get it straightened out pretty good, at least good enough to work as it was designed. I tried bending the top back up, but the kettle holder seemed to be pretty even still so I just left well enough alone. That was going to be a risky fix cause I would have had to put the same type pressure on the bent parts that put it in this condition to start with and there are 3 glass panes involved, not worth the risk. It was mostly a cosmetic anyway as the machine functions just fine. The other thing was the right front leg does not sit on the table becasue of it being out of square. I thought about buying a gold medal or paragon machine for $500+ cause they are great commercial machines, but in the end we are just popping corn for our family and at $160 I believe this machine will serve us well. If you can get one to your door with no damage to it, I highly recommend this machine. If it does come slightly damaged and you are a handy man like me, no problem, just fix it. If you have to call everyone to fix things for you, make sure you have a way to return this machine and get another one. I've read several reviews where people have complained about receiving a damaged machine. So there is a chance you will get one with a little damage like I did. It pops popcorn very well, I'll leave it up to you, your call.
Stale Popcorn
July 13, 2017
The machine looks great. I guess they left the operating manual out or it doesn't come with one. There are instructions on the glass which is very handy because it is there all the time. My problem is that we have made popcorn in it at least 6 times and used 3 different brands of popcorn kernels and the popcorn always has a slight stale taste and feel to it. If anyone has a solution to this problem please advise. Spending a lot of money on kernels and not getting to eat good popcorn. If this problem is solved I will love the unit.
A bit disappointed, mostly okay tho. Lots of fun when it works right.
March 9, 2017
A little disappointed that the stirring mechanism in the pot gets hung up on popcorn kernels. It causes scorching and one cannot get in there and clean it out until it cools down.
Just OK at popping, but nicely built
February 25, 2016
Bought this used so was expecting a little damage, but there was more damage than the description provided. Also, it took a week to receive because they must have oversold. The product itself feels sturdy and substantial and it looks cool. I was surprised that everything is metal and glass with no plastic. However I seem to get a lot of unpopped kernals, but I might be doing something wrong. Instructions aren't the best. Also, placement of the kettle makes it a little difficult to dump everything in. For what I paid for this, I am mostly happy but I do not think I would buy this at full price just for home use. I have been using the tri-pack which is a nice concept. Just not sure of the logic of putting the oil, which goes in first, in the middle of the packaging without any kind of cut out so you don't have to worry about everything else falling in.

... couple of months and until now it held up pretty well. For the price
July 26, 2016
Ive had this popcorn machine for a couple of months and until now it held up pretty well. For the price, its a good value. It is a bit on the small side but it makes enough for one person. The plastic on the side where the handle is now has a large crack in it (most likely from heat stress and the handle mechanism). I cant imagine it will be long before it becomes non-usable. The buttons on the from are also starting to come out of their socket...I don't know what could be causing that as it has sat on my counter ever since I got it.
Okay machine
February 11, 2016
This is the 2nd machine I received as the first one arrived damaged. This popcorn machine feels a little thin on the plastic side. I have just used this this evening for the first time, and works quite well and first. Just 1 teaspoon of oil and 1/3 cup of popcorn will take less than 10 minutes. It works well for the 1st time. I am rating this machine 3 Stars because I wish the plastic was thicker and it should accommodate a little more than 1/3 cup at one time. The price was good when I purchased it because there were a sale going on at that time, but it was typically higher than what I have purchased.
Works well, but makes small batches
January 27, 2016
I love popcorn, and this popper is fun and whimsical. The popcorn tastes good, and the popper is easy to use. So, why only 3 stars? Well, it makes tiny batches. The popper can only make about 1/3 of a cup of kernels at at time, which gives you a few cups of popcorn. When I make popcorn for my family, we have to run it several times. I previously had a dome popper that popped batches that were about 3 times as large. Since I make popcorn for family and friends and I enjoy it a lot myself, this is Also, although the handle works to dump out the popcorn, I have only been using the popper for about 6 weeks and there is already a 6-inch crack in the clear plastic housing around the popper. It isn't enough to compromise our ability to use it, but I am disappointed that it is so fragile for its intended use in such a short time. We'll use it until it breaks completely -- which, given the crack, could be a short or long time -- and then get a sturdier popper with more capacity. If you're less of a popcorn glutton than we are, you will love this machine.
It makes popcorn for one.
July 6, 2015
Beware: hot popcorn kernels come flying out of the kettle and shoot right through gaps in the enclosure. The first modification I had to make was to add washers to the hinges to hold the door higher so my kids and I weren't having to dodge those kernels. They still get loose, but at least now they escape the sides or roll out of under the door vice presenting a ballistic hazard. Also, it gets messier than I thought it would. I've only tried a liquid popping oil so far. Maybe the coconut oil is better?

Design flaw in the 2 lids
September 30, 2017
The machine is great. The issue is, 25% of the corn goes unpopped and ends up in the tray. The design of the flapper lids is wrong, they are to light. When Corn Pops, 6-8 unpopped kernels fly out of the kettle with each single pop. The fix, add weight to both lids so only the force of popped corn pushes up the lids, not mearly a single pop lifting the lid shooting out one popped piece and a bunch of unpopped kernels. I’m going to drill a hole in each lid and install one bolt and one nut, stainless steel, and this will provide the weight needed to cut down on inefficiency, and this will cut down on oil splatter all over the inside windows. Over all the machine rocks, solid construction, beefy, it just has this one design flaw that really stinks, but is an easy fix.
Had high hopes
June 3, 2017
I was really excited about this item for my office. It was a good price and was a fast ship. It's smaller then I thought but ieas like, ok no big deal. It's hard to get your hand inside to push out the oil from the popcorn+oil packs we have. When we did our first batch, the spinning arm inside the pot that makes the popcorn move, broke and all the popcorn burned. Super disappointed. My maintenance person threw my box out or I would return it.. maybe you will have better luck.
Kettle defective I think
August 18, 2016
The piece that causes the blade to go around pops up off the blade and kennels get stuck and then it dosent rotate and the kennels burn. I think the kettle is defective.
Wanted to love it, but...
December 21, 2015
Wanted to love this machine and was excited to get it. I thought I was purchasing new, but it looked like the box had been opened previously and the inside boxes had holes in them and some holes were taped over on the outer box as well as some of the inner boxes. Maybe I received a return. I know I paid for brand new. I am a little upset as the doors are not level. One sits higher than the other and the only way I see to resolve this is to have new holes drilled. The old maid drawer is hard to insert and remove, the top of the unit looks like it has a slight dent in it. I would be okay with the dent if the doors were level and I didn't have to look at lopsided doors. This product is quite heavy and has a lot of packaging and it would take a miracle to get it all back in the box and send it back. Not sure if I will send it back or not but I am not a happy camper like most reviewers.
rusting ruins the experience....
September 12, 2015
This popcorn make started out great! Unfortunately after about 60 bags of popcorn using the Great northern all in one packs, the inside top of the unit started rusting. It looks like a sheet of galvanized metal....Now every time I take it out of the pantry to use, I spend 10 minutes cleaning the rust off all of the inside so that my family doesn't eat iron granules....
Fair Unit
December 9, 2014
Sheet metal is not high quality. Un-popped kernel tray does not fit correctly into the unit. Kettle is difficult to remove and replace for cleaning. I would also add the kettle top is too light (Back to cheap sheet metal) when corn is popping to many un-popped kernels fall out. I read this is a review before I purchased and figured I could live with it. But, A lot come out.

Disappointing
June 15, 2017
It was much smaller than I thought and cheaply constructed. It will take 1/3 cup of popcorn. My 7 grandchildren had to wait a long time for popcorn! I wish that I could return it.
Works sometimes.
May 2, 2017
It doesn't usually work. Think twice before you buy. If you can buy a more expensive one (higher quality one), definitely consider it.
Only 1/4 Cup popper not 1/3 Cup like advertised
January 29, 2017
Meh, It works but, the plexi glass around the handle broke easily, the popper is small and has so many little crevices that it is hard to actually keep clean, and the popper is meant to hold 1/3 Cup of kernels but if you actually put that many kernels in the popper almost all of the kernels more than 1/4 Cup worth will just get pushed out of the popper when the kernels start popping resulting in wasted popcorn so you have to reduce the amount of kernels to 1/4 cup to get a decent yield. Don't buy this popper save your money, just use a large stock pot heat a heaping table spoon of coconut oil (or your oil of choice) with a few kernels until the kernels pop, once the kernels pop you know the oil is up to temperature, at this point add a heaping 1/3 cup of kernels and a a heaping 1/4tbs of Flavacol butter flavored popcorn salt (No.2045), and place a colander or mesh screen over the pan to let the steam escape, once popping slows pick up the pan and shake it a little until all the kernels have popped then, pour the popcorn in to your serving bowl and enjoy.

March 24, 2016
Pops OK but has way too many not popped when it is done, it blows them out of the bowl when poping.
Great taste, but way too much wasted corn.
April 1, 2015
I really wanted to love this thing and gave it several chances. One of the biggest problems is that the lid to the kettle is not heavy enough to stay closed. Once the corn starts popping, unpopped kernels come flying out, occasionally out of the venting slats on the side of the machine. Thus, after my first batch, there were *lots* of unpopped kernels and the amount of popped corn in the basket was very small. I experimented a little even trying different oil and different popcorn. Same effect. Finally, I laid a spoon across the top of the kettle while it was popping. Once enough corn popped to begin making the lid bounce, I removed the spoon, but as soon as I did tons of unpopped kernels came pouring out! Maybe my unit was defective, but I don't think it even popped half of the corn I initially put in to the machine. It is really a shame because the corn that did pop tasted amazing! It's just too wasteful. I'm going to return it and look for something with a sturdier construction.

Left us in a bind!
June 26, 2017
We've had this product for 6 months, and have used 3 times. We noticed the kettle was sticking the first use, and it progressed to get worse each time. The kettle won't release to dump, and the popcorn burns in the meantime. It dumps when empty, but when in use it doesn't. We bought 2 of them, and they are both doing this. There is also a lot of kernels left and wasted that don't pop, and we use the all-in-one popcorn kits for 8oz. kettles. We were hosting a free Movie Night in our community park, and one was completely worthless. We pushed through with the other, but it was frustrating. Now I have the frustration of having to return 2 machines. I don't recommend this product.
I loved it.Now I do not love it.
May 27, 2017
We used this for a movie night on the farm. The popcorn was great--no burning and a great popcorn smell throughout! Easy to assemble and very easy to use. We popped an entire box of popcorn. Clean up was not very difficult. I used canned air to get all the debris from small areas. good value. I purchased one that had been repackaged. The box was not in great shape but the unit was perfect. **Updated review. after using this about 3 times, one of the glass doors fell off and the metal unit that pops the corn does not open and close properly. I did love it but not now and I am having difficulty contacting the manufactor
Not worth it
May 26, 2017
We do backyard movie nights all summer long so I bought this to add to the fun. The first one arrived but was bent on the bottom so I made an exchange. Amazon was great to work with. The replacement arrived today just in time for our first movie night if the season. On The 3rd batch, the stir stick stopped stirring and the popcorn was jam packed into the kettle causing what was on the bottom to burn. I had to use a wooden spoon to get the popped corn out of the kettle...many wasted kernels too. I had high hopes that have been dashed. I made sure I followed the directions. So, this machine will be going back. I will now look at buying one similar to what I use at PTA events, shame because it is more than double the price of this one but I have been using that one for 6 years with out a single issue.
Arrived in good shape lasted 15 min in operation
August 6, 2016
This is a nice looking unit however I gave it one star because it made it halfway (about 15 min) thru the first batch of popcorn and motor mechanism turning the kettle stirrer froze and started making loud noise the and the popcorn in the kettle burned into a charred mess. It was tough to get out of the box and does require some assembly. Amazon is sending a replacement
It looked nice on my bar from afar
December 5, 2015
Pros: It looked nice on my bar from afar. Really big size.Cons: 1st machine ordered: Looked used, looked water stained inside top of machine (like water spots everywhere), scratched several places outside of machine, kettle scratched, doors to machine did not line up, bottom inside (where popcorn lands) looked water stained, the outside of steel looked faded or worn out. 2nd Machine: Same as above but also dented and doors looked more off than first machine (not lined up properly) Also found out may rust later on so maybe mine was already rusting. I did try to clean it, but stains remained.Really Disappointed. I bought this machine after I thought I did a thorough review. I went online and looked at videos, different pricing and other people's reviews. So I thought I did my job right. Well, I didn't. When I received the product it looked like it had been used! The inside top of machine was water stained, the outside of machine was scratched and dirty looking, the "stainless steel" looked faded, the kettle was scratched and the inside bottom had water stains. I thought it was a mistake so I replaced it. This is the only good thing: I ordered from Amazon Prime so they were really easy to deal with! Well, the second one that came in was worse! It had all the scratches, water stains, but this one was also dented on the outside! So I contacted the company and asked if all their products were like this and they said no, that I must had gotten one that had an issue. However, I explained that I had TWO that came the same way. They were very fast and nice with their response, but not too helpful since all they told me was that I would have to deal with Amazon because they were the ones who sold it to me. So I returned the product. After reading more reviews, I found out that A LOT of people complained that after a couple of months the top rusted! Not just on amazon but other forums too. I guess mine was probably already starting to rust. Who wants rust in their pop corn? So I will save my money and buy a Gold Medal or Paragon. If your investing in a popcorn machine this big, that means you really use it. So why not spend the extra money and invest in one you won't need to replace because it's cheaply made? Save yourself the trouble. This is the one I bought Great Northern Popcorn 6010 Roosevelt Top Antique Style Popcorn Popper Machine, 8-Ounce
Buy something else... broke the first time
May 28, 2015
Absolute peice of junk. I purchased this for a company party (a few weeks in advance so that we'd have it on time) and the first time we used it was the day of the company event. Shame on me for not immediately taking it out of the box when it was recieved, however I worked under the assumption that based on the reviews this would work fine and it wasn't garbage (I actually bought 3 machines). The first time it was used a gear stripped out and the thing wouldn't work. Unfortunately by the time our week long event was over the return date had passed and now I'm stuck with a worthless 160.00 not popcorn making box in my garage. The other 2 worked marginally fine. I'll never purchase this brand again. Total garbage and there's no way to contact them for replacement parts.

I would not recommend buying this
February 2, 2016
I would not recommend buying this. I've only used it 2 times and there is cracks in the plastic. It's all plastic on the outside. The gray spots on the door are cracks.
Poor Design and Quality Control
December 10, 2015
Metal lid on popping canister gets stuck closed and popped popcorn then gets jammed into rotating bar causing it to seize and stop turning. It's too hot to unjam by hand, so I have to turn it off. I popped 4 batches of popcorn and two of the batches were jammed and the rotating bar seized up. Worked 50% of the time and looks to be a poor canister lid design and workmanship. I returned it and would not recommend buying this unit as it was the second one I received that was defective. (The first one I received had a loose motor in the upper unit and it sounded like there were many other loose parts/screws freely moving around as you tilted the unit. Definitely it was broken and not caused from shipping as the box had no damages to it.)
Don't waste your money
November 25, 2015
Don't waste your money use a few times and the plexi glass started to crack at the handle it keeps slowly growing won't be long till it's useless they would not replace !! Poor customer service
Wouldn't buy again, looking to replace already
October 24, 2015
I need to update my review as it's become a big hassle to use. I had to modify the kettle lids because the metal folds were imprecise and causing the lid to jam shut. Fixing that is not the end of the problems though, it seems to have trouble pushing popped corn out which results in too much popped corn in the kettle which jams it up which causes the motor to make horrible screeching noises and stop and it can only be restarted by taking the top off and helping it along. To try and reduce jamming up I only fill up the supplied scoop half way (which is marked as 1/3 cup but is actually 1/4 cup). This means I need to make many batches each time we want popcorn which means I'm taking it apart and putting it back together many times. It's disappointing to see Great Northern putting there name on this thing
Not what i expected.
April 4, 2015
does not make enough at one time. Too many of the kernals pop out when it's popping.
disappointed
September 9, 2014
Another person commented it'll never look like the picture, which is true. Makes a very small batch at a time, and the kernels get stuck in the pot. Door is in an awkward place in relation to the electric plug. Not happy with this purchase.
