LOVE LOVE this product
May 6, 2015
LOVE LOVE this product, easy and so simple - I have only used the soybean maker, and my family and I have enjoyed homemade soybean drinks in such healthy way. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and fast. I would say it is a bit noisy, but after a while it became white noise to me or sometimes it helps me hear what stage it is at before its ready for me to drink. The only thing i put in there is organic soybean (soaked overnight) and then sweetened with sugar per preference...that's it....
Good, not leaking, easy to use
February 14, 2015
Quite good.Someone said it will leak when they use it.This kind review makes me hesitate to order it.But I'm lucky to believe myself. The cover is not 100% seal because there's lots of steam during cooking soy milk. The design is quite good. There's two lines inside the container. You can't add water over this line or the water will come out during use.I use it for months and obey the menu. My soy milk never leaking. I like this!
Great investment and gift
January 15, 2015
Bought 2 as Xmas present for my mother and sister. They kept thanking me for the healthy habit drinking two cups of delicious soy milk everyday. Organic soy beans are so naturally sweet but light. Not heavy sweet. But people whose taste buds are used to highly sugar used sweet will not taste this natural sweetness. Definitely recommend his easy to use machine and the significant health benefit for just a bit over $100.
Amazing Product!
January 9, 2014
Really easy to use and makes outstanding soy milk. We just made our first batch and are so happy! We were skeptical that it could be so easy to use and clean but it lived up to its reputation. We filled the included measuring cup with soy beans and poured them into the container. Then we added fresh water to the lines inside the container, put the top on, plugged it into the socket, pressed the Dry Bean mode, pressed Start, and within an hour we had fresh warm soy milk. It was easy to clean, just rinse the blades with hot water, wash the inside, and done. We hope that it lasts a long time as we have been looking for a product like this for awhile. Next we will try using it to make our fruit and veggie juices.
Great Soy Milk
September 29, 2013
We bought this Soy Milk Maker, and it works great, takes a lot of the hassle out of stove top cooking where you have to sit and watch to make sure you don't boil over, This Soy Maker is computer controlled and has a 180 watt motor that grinds up the beans and a 750 watt heater that cooks the soy into great soy milk. With one touch button operation and it beeps when the milk is done. The filter screen will fit onto a 4 inch opening jar so you can pour right into the jar through the filter. I have to clean off Okara (soy pulp) a few times from the filter screen to continue or it will plug the screen. You can make Soy Milk for pennies on the dollar. The 24 page Instructions with diagrams are mostly Japanese and a few pages of English, Button controls are in unit are in both Japanese and English. There are recipes for Rice Soy Milk, Walnut Soy Milk, Chestnut Soy Milk. I love the flavor of rice soy milk. We filter off the Okara for use in making veggie burgers, omelets and Tofu, You can find recipes on line for cooking with Okara since it's organic. We use Laura Soy Beans .com that are Non Genetically Modified and we use distilled water and Whole Grain Rice.
Wow! Soy milk in 10 minutes...
May 10, 2013
If you make your own soy milk, this is it. I used to use my vitamix to blend the soy beans with water, then strain the mix and when I was done, I had bunch of pots to clean. The best part of JOYOUNG is that cleaning is so easy and the soy coming out is just perfect and the whole process is effortless.

Emaciated POWs Nursed To Health in WW2 on Soymilk. Now SoyaJoy G4 Does All The Hard Manual Work For You
July 7, 2017
I have been making soy milk manually on and off the past few decades. Tedious and messy work. Have always been fascinated with real, natural soy milk. My mother told me that during WW2 our family made it. The amah, or maid, would grind and grind the beans. There was a thinking that even if one were starving, give them soy milk, and they'd be OK. Upon the liberation of Hong Kong, those freed from the Japanese concentration camps were nursed to health with soymilk. So soymilk has deep, venerable roots with my family. To say the Soyajoy G4 makes soy milk is a little confusing. It doesn't do the entire process (you don't put in dried soy beans one end, and wait for soy milk to come out the other.) But it does take the most tedious part of the process and automate it. That tedious part is grinding the soybeans and continually stirring it in a pot with water heated to a specific temperature for many minutes. The SoyaJoy G4 now does all that for you. What's left to do is now very simple. At the start, soak the beans for 8-9 hours. The SoyaJoy G4 can't do that for you. And, at the end, sift the soy pulp from the resulting mixture by pouring the contents of the container through a filter. Both jobs are easy!I'm now using the Soyajoy G4 at least once, and often twice, a day. I bring fresh soy milk over to my 88 year old mother, the same person who told me about the family's long connection with soymilk. I have been diagnosed with fatty liver, and am so glad that soymilk helps to reduce hepatic fat according to the literature. Soymilk does much more than that healthwise. As I write this review, I can hear the SoyaJoy G4 whirring in the background. I feel a new page has been turned in my nutritional health.UPDATE SEPT 14 2017Too much soy milk lowered my libido! Sex drive flattened by drinking 4-5 cups fresh soymilk over weeks. Have now cut back. Soy milk contains phytoestrogens. Issue resolved by cutting back.
Awesome Soymilk Maker..Great Company!
November 15, 2016
Absolutely love my new SoyaJoy G4! The milk is easier to make and more delicious than the older SoyaJoy model that I have been using for many years, the one with the basket. That machine still works but decided I wanted to try the new design and I'm so glad I did. The G4 is so easy to use and clean and the quality of milk is just awesome! It even makes quick and easy soup! Only thing I regret about this purchase is that I didn't make it sooner. Oh, I must add, Sanlinx has great customer service, I dealt with them on one occasion when I bought my older model and they were very courteous going above and beyond to satisfy a customer. Good customer service is important to me. Thank you Sanlinx!
Don't wait as long as I did...

It took me a long time to decide to buy this machine first because I wasn't confident that soy milk would be a healthy dairy alternative (compared to almond milk, for example), and secondly, it seemed like a lot for a single use machine. I did some research on soy as almond milk is so expensive in the volume our family uses (even though I made it myself in the blender) and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did. I'm sure this machine has already paid for itself.I make 3 quarts about every 4 or 5 days (2 batches = 3 quarts). For each batch, I use one of the little cups that comes with the machine and 3 tablespoons of oatmeal. After I strain it, I add 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 2 tablespoons of a sweetener (brown sugar or coconut sugar). We use this for drinking and in recipes.I also use this machine to make milk for vegan yogurt using a batch of soy milk mixed with some soaked cashews. I get the culture from Cultures for Health who ships very quickly. Amazon doesn't carry a vegan yogurt culture I don't think. I have also made a delightful tofu using 2 batches of soy milk (only). Both the yogurt and tofu recipes are from the book Artisan Vegan Cheese.. The homemade yogurt is used to culture many of the cheeses in her book as well. I also highly recommend the Laura nonGMO soybeans.
I love this little machine!

It took a long time for me to decide which soymilk maker I wanted to get. The things I looked for was: multi-functionality, durability, easy to clean, looks nice, the right size for our family of three, and not complicated to use. I received my shipment in very quick time. I studied the manual that comes with it and agreed with other reviewers that it really didn't give a whole lot of information, but once I decided to "go for it" and make something, I realized that it does not need lengthy explanations in the manual---it is so simple to use!The first thing I did was to make a family favorite soup that I though would work out well. It worked out so well, that I am sharing the recipe here!Golden Potato Soup (for SoyaJoy use)Vegan-Gluten Free-Easy1/2 onion, chopped2 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped into 1" cubes1 celery stalk, cut into 2" pieces1 carrot, peeled and cut into 1" sections1/2 cup cashews, rinsed and drained (soak if possible)1 tsp. dried parsley1 tsp. granulated onion1/4 tsp. granulated garlic1/8 tsp. turmeric powder1 1/2 tsp. sea saltAdd all ingredients to pot. Fill with water to between lines. Press "Porridge" button. Soup is ready to serve when cycle is done (please be careful it is hot). Enjoy!
Saving tons of cash, AND know my soy milk is super healthy!!
March 4, 2015
Love saving money with this easy-to-use soy milk maker!! I had purchased organic soybeans and made a couple of batches the "old fashioned" way - on the stove. There were varied options for pureeing the beans first, and other recipes that called for cooking the beans first. I did not like either option. Way too much work! But this machine is so easy to use, I often make it in the evening after a full day's work!!All you have to do is measure out dried soybeans, soak at least 6 hours, then make the soy milk! I really like the container and mesh screen filter provided. Makes the whole process so easy! I have been freezing much of the high-protein residue (okara) for use in other recipes. I plan to try my hand at drying it in my dehydrator this weekend. Or you can compost it. Okara is a very nutritious by-product of the soy milk making process.I use my soy milk in my morning (home roasted) coffee in the morning, and in recipes. Have also made my own tofu. But the greatest savings is in making my own soy milk. I figure it at less than $0.50 per quart for the soybean and water soy milk. I was purchasing a very good brand with the same ingredients, for more than $3 per quart. I figure this machine will pay for itself in a few months. So easy to use - cleans up easily and has an option for making soy milk without soaking the beans. So very glad I made this purchase!!
Worthwhile investment is if you drink a lot of milk alternatives like soy, cashew, or almond.
February 24, 2015
Bought this for my mother for xmas. I grew up with home made soymilk but it was such a long process and was hard on your hands (have to wring the soy milk from the pulp through a cheese cloth) that we didn't do it often.I showed this to my mom and she expressed an interest. When we opened it, she was disappointed that the container was small (we're used to making huge vats and freezing it) but after she tried it out, it actually holds quite a bit of liquid. My mother is loving this machine and she's been making soymilk every weekend. We haven't tried to do anything with the leftover pulp yet, but that pulp is SUPER fine and I can imaging turning it into tofu. The machine is very easy to use and you'll have hot soymilk in about 30 mins (excluding the soaking time, which we do overnight). The machine is also easy to clean. It does get pretty hot on the outside when it's cooking but it's no worse than when we used to do it over a stove. I can't believe I didn't buy us one of these earlier. It also came with a little package of soybeans so you can start using your machine right away (soak the beans first).I haven't tried with cashew or almond yet, but I can't imagine it being any different than with soybeans.Love it!

So far so good
August 17, 2016
This product makes soy milk as described. I tried both the soaked beans and dry beans options and both took about 30 minutes to be done. The steel container does get very hot during the process, and it's a little hard to clean. I deducted 1 star because there was no soy beans included in the box.
A good little machine, and unexpected results
May 6, 2014
I bought this soymilk maker in January. I was quite pleased with how it worked. The instructions are beautifully written in Korean, but the English ones don't make a whole lot of sense. Fortunately, between these product reviews, you tube and the fact that it is easy to use, you can figure it out. It worked reliably 2-3 times per week. I found it to be a good size for a 2 adult household. The soy and almond milk both are excellent, but, you do need to season your final product if you are used to store bought soy or almond milk. You definitely have to soak your ingredients beforehand for the best result. Ditto on the straining. I think it is especially helpful for a busy person who lives somewhere where these products are hard to find or very expensive. I also really appreciate that it's made the shopping easier, no need to tote home those heavy tetra packs (the first ingredient is water, folks) and now we're not filling up the recycle bin with the empties. Then, an unexpected electrical problem at home fried the thing two weeks ago. I was fully committed at this point, being 2 lbs in to a 25 lb bag of soybeans. I fretted over whether to spend the money to replace it. In the meantime, we ran out of soymilk. I made a batch old school, in the food processor and on the stovetop. A few days later I did it again. I kept going with it. It's not that big of a deal to me now. Plus I can make 2-3 quart batches at a time, so it looks like I'll be able to do it once for the week and we're set. I don't think I am going to purchase a replacement soymilk maker. The other huge bonus of making your own soy milk us the byproduct, the okara. It's not a waste product, it's food! Regardless of your method of soymilk making, this is a wonderful traditional japanese food that you can put your own twist on. The Book of Tofu by William Shurtleff has a great introduction to it. I use it to make my own veggie "meatballs" and patties. It's good on soups and sauce. Stir fried with veggies is a more traditional use, and very good!

March 18, 2014
This soy bean maker made good soy bean milk with dry beans and soaked beans. It did good with the fruit juice. I am giving it 4 stars due to the fact that it did not do well withthe rice paste. It was too thin , like glue.

Brought this for the in-law, they seem to really like it. They seem to use it almost everyday, but getting good GMO soy bean seems to be an issue. No a problem with the maker.
Good, Basic Soy Milk Maker
October 26, 2013
Very versatile Soy Milk Maker with recipe booklet for many other uses. No yucky filter to clean! Produces delicious, creamy soy milk from organic soybeans (sample included). I have made soy milk the hard way (on the stove) and I love the convenience this product offers. You can use soaked or dry beans. You can make hot or cold soy milk, fruit, veggie juices and more! I really like this product!
Convenienct; a few caveats though
November 5, 2012
We bought this machine because we wanted to have fresh soy milk every morning. We've heard it's easy to clean prior to buying, and that is true except that we still have to be careful not to have the power connector in contact with any water when cleaning, not exactly fool-proof, but manageable. Another thing is more critical and why one star is deducted from my rating. The outside gets really HOT while the it's boiling soy milk inside. It almost feels like little to non thermal insulation -- very bad if you have curious kids running around (fortunately we don't, yet!). Overall, a good product, but the poor thermal insulation really makes it feel not worth its full $100 price.

not disappointed
August 21, 2017
I bought this because it had the best reviews, and I have not been disappointed yet. I would prefer that it had a double wall so it didn't get as hot, so I cut some fleece into a 'cozy' to keep from getting burned. I also don't like the plastic pitcher for hot, fresh soy milk, so I use a glass one instead. We found that we like the taste of the soy milk better if we soak the beans for about 24 hours, rinsing and changing the water periodically, and then squeezing the beans between 2 fingers to remove the skins. Be sure to clean the machine thoroughly immediately after use.
Fantastic Soy Milk maker
March 15, 2017
Fantastic soy milk maker. Also makes amazing raw almond milk. The only improvement I would suggest is how the top connects to the base. The way it just sits on the connector feels cheap, and this is the part most likely to break. My previous soy milk maker had a similar design, but the top had to be rotated to connect to the base. The connector was more protected. The Spya Joy G4 is otherwise a very robust appliance.
Works as advertised, but not built to US safety standards; no UL certification
October 2, 2016
The product works as advertised. The reason I am giving it four stars rather than five is because it does not have a UL - Underwriters Labs - certification that it is built to US safety standards. As an engineer, I believe I know why: although the product needs to be washed to clean it properly, if you are not ultra careful, water can get into the electrical areas (it's not immersible, as it should be, given the way it needs to be washed to be cleaned). With proper care, though, it works fine. I calculated that if it lasts long enough for 100 gallons of soy milk - one to two year's estimated consumption at our house - the price of soy milk made with the maker is ½ that of soy milk purchased from our local Trader Joe's.After trying different recipes, here's what works best for soy milk for us: ¾ cup dry organic non-GMO soy beans, and ½ teaspoon food grade calcium carbonate powder. We buy organic non-GMO soy beans from the bulk section from a nearby Whole Foods because (a) it's organic, whereas the Laura soy beans sampled with the maker are not organic, and (b) it's more economical. We are getting creative at finding things to do with okara, which making soy milk at home produces in prodigious quantities. ¾ cup dry soy beans produces a little less than 1½ quart of soy milk and about 2 cups of okara. We are making things with it - it goes well into hot cereal, among other things - using it on vegetable beds, and trying to give it away! Our dog won't touch it.
Plugged it in, and sat next to it while ...
December 8, 2014
Plugged it in, and sat next to it while it churned away and in about 20 mins the soothing aroma of freshly made soy milk filled the kitchen bringing back fond memories of Japan. The okara was finely ground unlike some what some of the reviewers have complained and the milk was exactly how I'd expect it to be.My only complaint is the design. The heating apparatus is contained in the plastic casing at the base and the manual says you shouldn't get water into it. Well, there's a tiny gap between the plastic base and stainless steel body. If they were so gung-ho about their no-water guidelines, they could have at least tried to make it water tight.I don't know if it's called germophobia but I feel the need to spotlessly clean any equipment that processes the grub that makes it into my mouth and this one took unduly long to clean. What should have been a simple 2 minute scrub and rinse took nearly 10 mins.Maybe, the next model could afford some level of watertightness if not outright immersible?
Great machine/ not so anymore
August 13, 2013
I love this soy maker. Easy to clean and so far works well. I wish that the container where the soy milk is poured in made of stainless steel instead of plastic. Not a fan of plastic. I have to pour the soy mild while straining into a stainless steel pot. Otherwise, I have to wait until it is cold. Doesn't like the idea of pouring hot soy mild into a plastic container. Plastic leaches and releases bad stuff. After weeks of use I notced that the shaft that holds the blade is corroding. My understanding is that stainless steel does not corrode. Now I do not want to use it anymore because I am scared metal will contaminate the soy milk. I need an explanation.
Does the job
June 14, 2013
I have made several batches of milk with this including soy and almond. It took some reading and experimenting to come up with milk that was appealing to me. First batches were way to beanny for me. Soaking longer than they suggest and using boiling water has made a big difference in the flavor. I also found that adding a little rice to the beans makes the milk nice and creamy. Works much better than my blender.

Very little effort and time is needed to make soy milk with this machine. The problem is that the soy milk isn't anywhere as thick as I expected (thinner than the non-additive Chinese commercial variety). I did put 1.5 cups of free LauraSoy sample in (soaked). The cooking isn't enough to have the sweet aroma of the soy milk come out. Overall, if I am in a hurry, I will probably boil it some more to thicken it and make it more aromatous. But I think a little elbow grease with a blender and patience with the wooden spoon at the pot really make the best soy milk without this machine. I am packing the machine away after one use for a lazy day.

Item not as expected....disappointed.
May 20, 2014
I had seen this item being demonstrated on youtube and thought it would be so great to purchase to make non-dairy milk. The youtube videos show the milk made with very little pulp. I agree that it doesn't take long to make the milk; however, there is way more pulp left than I had expected and the milk is not as tasty as I would prefer. I get less pulp and better tasting milk with my vitamix. The only thing I like about the product is that I can just press the chosen button and leave it until it is done. That's about it.
cant believe it is so easy to make soy milk!
May 18, 2014
overall great product. very easy to use and clean. included manual/instructions are a bit lacking. since the container is exposed stainless steel you have to treat it like a pot and don't touch it after the unit is finish making the soy milk. it is really hot, boiling hot!i think some other models have a plastic barrier on the outside which would be good as a thermal barrier against accidental burns.not perfect, could be better.

This is different from a model bought a few years ago. The motor died on the old one. The new maker has fewer parts in it. Less to clean. My mom is happy with it.edit 1 year and about 3 months: The motor died. Can't recommend for the price. She makes the milk every other day and has been soaking the beans.edit 9-2017: another motor died, bought 2 more. I think soy milkers are getting taken advantage of. These machines don't last.

way more work than necessary
December 19, 2013
I decided to order a soymilk maker after using my mom's. It was so easy and quick. This one had really good ratings so I deciding on this one. With this one you have to strain the milk after the process is done. It takes about 20 minutes just to do that. Others have the strainer attached to the grinder so when the milk is done processing it is already strained. You do have to wait a minute for the milk to finish draining from the strainer but nothing like this one. I sent it back and ordered the one my mom has. She has the soyabella. I think this one has such good ratings because they don't realize that there is something way easier out there.
So far, not so good.

I purchased this for my girlfriend and was anxious to try some home-made soy milk. The package appeared to have arrived in good condition, but when she lifted the lid of the device, the internal electronics were completely exposed. Apparently, the plastic that would otherwise enclose them had fractured the full circumference of the device. For the time being, I assume this was just a one-in-a-million manufacturing fault, but be wary of the quality of the device.I will update this review if and when I order a replacement.

Since bought it in 2013 used very few times during the past years. Only in 2016 that I started to used with more frequently since March. Using about every 10 days for making soy milk as recommended by the manual. It worked very well for the serveral month but on the week of August 15 the machine started presenting problems. I usualy boil the water before putting into the machine, thus saving the time for the machine to heat up. It worked the first 2 minutes and then it just stopped working. Read the manual and started a new batch and it remain the same thing. Does anybody has this kind of problem??? Haven't contact the customer service and would like to hear from customers that had bought this same machine and if it's still working... Thanks.

Inadequate
April 10, 2014
I've been making my own almond and soy milks for a long time with my Vitamix. While that was working beautifully for the grinding process, I decided to purchase the Soyajoy following several unfortunate boil-over incidents when making soy milk. My first soy milk experience with the Soyajoy was decent enough, although the okara seemed a bit chunkier than I'm used to. I carried on and made another batch to culture for yogurt. I've done this hundreds of times using my homemade (blended) soy milk and a very reliable culture; this time it was an absolute failure. Although I'm well aware of the many potential causes of failed yogurt, given my successful track record, I believe I can safely assume the poor grinding was very much to blame. I also tried to make almond milk in the Soyajoy, which resulted in poorly ground nuts and watery milk. I understand that the Vitamix is designed (and priced) to pulverize, and I don't expect many other machines to perform to the same standards. I'll still use this machine to cook my soy milk once it's been well blended, but this is a lot of money to spend on what is essentially a crock pot. So I guess the bottom line is that if you've never made nut milk in a high-speed blender and don't know what you're missing, the Soyajoy will give you something you can call milk. On the other hand, if you have a high-speed blender (or want to save $120 to put towards one), consider holding off on this purchase.

Nice looking but wont last

I loves the appliance but not the fact that it quit after 4-5 uses. Would not recommend it to anyone.
Poor quality and scorching hot surface

This machine could be much better if they have it insulated and use better quality material. If you are not careful like I am, you can get severely injured, in this case burned. I got a big burn on my right arm the second day I got this. I had no choice but to return it. Another problem is that the socket where the power connects is not very well sealed. You run the risk of electric shock if you get water in it accidentally.
