Also recommend the "Coffee Grinder Cleaning Brush
February 16, 2017
I have turned into a coffee snob over the past decade or so, and had NO IDEA that a burr grinder would make such a humungo diff in the flavor of my Morning Addiction. OMG. How did I ever live without this??! Also recommend the "Coffee Grinder Cleaning Brush, Heavy Wood Handle & Natural Bristles Wood Dusting Espresso brush Accessories for Bean Grain Coffee Tool Barista Home Kitchen" to help get every bit of the grounds out of the plastic chamber. Cross-reference the brush review, it's awesome too and it helps with the static tendencies of the coffee. You can only do so much by tapping the chamber and it WILL piss you off to have so much coffee stuck in there, so go ahead and order the brush now.......you'll understand when you grind the coffee. You're welcome.
Burr grind at a good price
November 12, 2016
This is my second one in 8 years. I like it because it will grind more than one cup at the time. I use it to grind course for cold brewed coffee and you need more coffee as a rule. These things can be costly. I needed another and the price was still right.
Works Great!

They say if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Well, in this case, it was broke, but it lasted eight years! So, we had to replace it and why not go with the same unit when we had such great success using it to grind our daily coffee?! This is a very nice burr mill that we have gained much use from over the years and now we replace it with a brand new unit that is exactly like the other one and hoping we get another 8-10 years out of it.

Why do we like it?
* It has a nice look with the majority being shiny stainless steel housing.
* The hopper on the top holds a half pound of beans.
* You have a choice of 6 settings for every type of grind you choose.
* It does great on coarse grind for our French Press coffee, very uniform.
* You hit the button and it stops when it is done grinding.
* Once you figure out what grind you like, how much you want and what setting you prefer it is a simple process and then you just have to decide what kind of bean you want in there. It does the rest.
* It is fairly easy to clean up, doesn't take up too much space and best of all it works great and does it all quite fast.

If either of us had anything negative to say about it, we'd have to say it is loud, but then if you aren't hand grinding, what isn't loud when it comes to grinding coffee via electricity?

We're happy with the product or we wouldn't have purchased a second one of the same exact type eight years after the first one. Plus, it must be others feel the same because eight years later the company is still making the same model! Hope if you get one you like it!
Best value in a burr grinder

I strongly recommend the Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill. It is cheap ($50) for a burr grinder (burr is the only way to go for a consistent grind, blade grinders are cheaper but waste coffee), very easy to keep clean, and has a good sized storage hopper for beans. Intuitive controls (select # of cups, hit START), and automatic shutoff means no measurements are required. Simply grind and empty the contents into your coffeemaker. The grind selector is integrated into the hopper, so going from coarse to fine is as simple as turning the hopper to the desired size.Plus, it is a good looking addition to any kitchen.

The coffee tasted so delicious that I brewed a second cup just to see if it would be just as tasty as the first cup - and it didn't disappoint. It is easy to use
September 29, 2017
I am not a person that ever writes reviews, however; I am posting this review in case it is helpful to anyone who is looking for a quality coffee grinder. I just used my new Capresso 565 coffee grinder today. The coffee tasted so delicious that I brewed a second cup just to see if it would be just as tasty as the first cup - and it didn't disappoint. It is easy to use, quiet, takes up little counter space, renders a consistent coffee grind and is not messy as some customers have reported. I spent months reading through the Amazon customer reviews before I finally decided to purchase this particular grinder. I am VERY particular and dislike being disappointed in any way when it comes to indulging in my one guilty pleasure - enjoying a fine cup of coffee. I am pleased with my new purchase. I now have a grinder that produces a consistently fine tasting brew.
I love this grinder
January 18, 2017
I love this grinder! I make French press coffee everyday and wanted a burr grinder that wouldn't break the bank, did a decent job, and didn't sound like a jackhammer punching through concrete at 6am. This is the one to buy. Some people have complained about static with the grounds in the plastic catch bin. I found the solution online (I forget which site). All you do is take a napkin or paper towel, wet it, and squeeze 3 little drops of water in the hopper with the beans before you start the grinder. Voila! No static cling and the grinding chamber is almost clean! It really works! The cleanup is is very simple - takes about 90 seconds. I do it while the water is heating up. I purchased the chrome model but the plastic one is really identical if you want to save a little extra.
Stainless rules!

This is my second Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder. The first was a black/plastic model and it is a fine product (still working after a couple years of daily use). This one, which I bought for our beach house, is different/better. It's heavier, more stable, and just more professional feeling. It's quieter, the timer dial feels more substantial, and it has almost zero static build-up after a grind. The company seems to stand behind their product as well - I broke the plastic collection hopper on my first grinder, and they replaced it no questions asked when I called. The fact that they sell parts like the removable upper burr mechanism is a plus, since I find those tend to get dull over time and need to be replaced (unless you have all day to wait for the beans to grind...I don't). Only had it for a couple weeks, but every time I use it I think "worth every penny."
This is the grinder to buy (much research done)
December 2, 2015
Very nice grinder! We were very happy with a Baratza Solis grinder for years, and when it died I first got the Baratza Encore. It was terrible, what a disappointment (uneven grinds, incredibly loud-wake up the whole house, spraying grounds everywhere). I returned it and got this grinder, from the same seller. No comparison, the Capresso is so much better. Nice even ground, it's relatively quiet, and it doesn't spray grounds on the counter. It's also more attractive. I'm glad I got the stainless steel, worth the extra money.
Small Footprint and Easy to Use
January 28, 2015
Easy to use and the coarse grind delivers perfectly for use in my Secura French Press. On a daily basis, I just turn it upside down over the sink and bang the side of the machine with my palm in order to shake loose the captured grounds along with brushing out the residue with the included brush. Love fresh ground Bulletproof coffee each morning.Edit: 6 months later had a problem with positioning the burr correctly in order that the plastic container would seat properly. Called Capresso customer service and was able to speak with an intelligent, professional, patient English speaking man who couldn't have been more helpful immediately able to resolve the issue. I sure do appreciate such wonderful customer service. Thank you Capresso for a good product and amazing follow through.
Both are great and include the same basic components
November 13, 2014
We have had the Capresso 560 in my office for the past year, and I just got the 565 for my home. Both are great and include the same basic components, but here are the differences I've noticed:WEIGHT: The 565 has a stainless steel outer shell, compared to the 560's plastic shell. That makes the 565 noticeably heavier, which is positive, in my opinion. The 560 isn't so light that it's bad, but the 565 has a nice hefty, high-quality feel to it.NOISE: The 565 seems to be quieter than the 560. I'm not sure if that's because of the different shell material, the extra weight, or simply because it's doesn't have 10 months of use. Both produce similar grinds, as all the inner components are the same. My bottom line is that the 565 performs very similarly to the 560, but is $40 more. So if you want a slightly higher-quality-feeling grinder on your counter, go with the 565. If you simply want a good grinder, but don't care about how it looks or feels, go with the 560.

Excellent replacement for our 30 year old Braun burr grinder, which still works, but developed a hole in the plastic housing. Spinning grounds eroded through grinding chamber walls. Gave this new unit four stars instead of five due to initial difficulty in determining the correct timer setting on the slider control. We use 35 grams for our 2 1/2 cups of coffee each morning. It took close to one week of setting and weighing to find the setting. Fortunately, the result has stayed consistent allowing us to simply hit the start bar every morning to get our 35 grams. But, if we ever have guests, the amount will most likely be off. The only improvement needed is an accurate timer control based on where it’s set. This is an excellent grinder which we highly recommend. Once you get the timer setting you want, it will definitely provide accurate, repeatable amounts. The grind settings work flawlessly and absolutely no cleaning required for internal components. Keep the hopper full enough to avoid running out and hit the start switch for perfect coffee every time.
Excellent grinder, would buy again.

This is a fantastic grinder. The only two gripes I have aren't much, but they are gripes nonetheless:The vessel in which the grinds deposit collects so much static that it's mostly impossible to clean without the tiny coffee grounds flying every which way. There is a constant coating of very fine grinds all over the vessel and wall behind it, even if it's set to the coarsest grind. Without a tiny vacuum, it's hard to clean. The grinder won't run indefinitely. If you fill the hopper all the way up and set it to the largest amount, which is 18 cups, it will still stop halfway through with the vessel only halfway full of grinds. It means doing multiple batches if you're brewing a large amount (like for a cold brewer, etc). That said, it's great and I'm glad I own it.
LOUD, BUT HAS CHANGED TASTE OF COFFEE
July 22, 2017
I have not used this long, so I cannot comment on longevity, but I have read reviews from many people who have used this model for years. I am not a coffee snob, but just want at least one GOOD cup of coffee a day. Right now, I use a Keurig, or a Ninja coffee bar or a French press (just got started). For my needs, this works fine. I settled on this model after checking on a number of grinders in this price range and higher. Since I rarely make espresso, this grinder does everything I need and I can honestly say there is a difference in taste. The two cons I have are the cheapy brush that came with the unit (please buy a decent brush to keep your unit clean) and this thing is LOUD. The first time I used it, I thought there was an airplane taking off in my kitchen. Not really, but be prepared for the noise, which thankfully, only lasts a few seconds. A number of reviewers have also complained about the static, which you should expect as well. However, I have experienced the same issue no matter what grinder I've used in the past. I hope to use this for some time and I am happy with this purchase.
Overall it's pretty much "ok" and on par with other burr grinders ...
June 19, 2017
Overall it's pretty much "ok" and on par with other burr grinders in this price point.Good: Had a good consistent grind to it and relatively quiet compared to others we've had. Has a wide stance so doesn't vibrate all over the counter. Nice wide opening to the cup on the top to hold the beans. Nice styling too.Bad: The cup for the grounds is actually a bit too big. The opening is almost as big as most coffee filters and hard to not spill coffee grounds all over the sides. With the inevitable static that makes pouring grounds already difficult, the large opening makes that particularly messy. Also we've found that the cup doesn't go back into the grinder real easy. Is rather particular about how it goes back in and can be a nuisance.Overall, though, it's a decent grinder for the money and pretty good value. If you want the perfect burr grinder, you're going to have to have to pay 3 or 4 times this amount.
Easy, consistant, convenient grind (updated)
December 22, 2016
(Update at end of review)Having used a hand burr grinder for years, being able to simply press a button and get a good, consistent grind every morning is awesome. I haven't yet had an issue with the grounds being static charged and getting everywhere. The primary issue I have had preventing me from rating it higher is that I have, on multiple occasions already (11 days of use) had the beans get jammed in the drop tube from the upper hopper to the blades. Because the grinder simply runs for a set time, if the beans stop falling into the blade it just keeps running, and stops at the appointed time. Agitating the grinder usually solves the problem, but there is no way to know how much coffee has already been ground, and how much more needs to be ground, without then measuring ground coffee. When everything works normally, I simply press the start button and have the perfect amount of coffee for my morning pour-over. When it doesn't, I probably could have used my hand grinder and been done in less time.I have only used one type of bean, I will try a different brand/roast next time to see if that helps resolve the issue. However, a simple gravity feed, narrow tube, and the tendency of beans to bounce a bit when being ground make this seem inevitable. A friend owns the same grinder and has not had this issue.Update: refilled with beans roasted the day before I bought them, and have had no issue, so I bumped up the review by one star.
Good grinder at an affordable price.
December 7, 2016
This is the first burr grinder I have owned. I primarily bought this for more coarse and even grinding of coffee for use with my french press. It seems to do a fine job of grinding, and appears to be consistent with coarseness. I only have a couple complaints.1) (This may be common to all burr grinders) Even when grinding coarse, there is one spot in the output chamber that collects a very fine dust of coffee. Since it is all in one spot, it is easy to remove from the container, keeping the rest of the coarse grind separate. But it does produce a decent amount of fine dust even on the coarsest setting.2) I cannot imagine they could have made this unit louder, even if that had been a specific goal of the engineering team. This thing is LOUD. I typically do my grinds the day before, since grinding in the morning would wake the whole house. This isn't that big of a deal for me, but it might be for some, so I just wanted to note that. This is why I give it only 4 stars. I'm serious. It's loud. I mean, I typically start it up and leave the kitchen until it is done. I'm considering putting ear plugs in before I turn it on. I worry about permanent damage to the kids if they are getting a drink when I hit the "grind" button. My 4-year-old is terrified of it.Otherwise, seems to get the job done.

This grinder is much better than the blade grinder I used previously
February 10, 2017
This grinder is much better than the blade grinder I used previously. It takes less time to grind a given amount of coffee and the grind is uniform. The choice of fineness of the grind is also a benefit. The only major problem is cleaning the machine. A noticeable amount of coffee collects around the grinder and using the brush to push it into the hold leading to the receptacle is tedious and only marginally successful. I tried using a small blower to try to blow the grinds into the hole but that was also only partially successful. My next effort will be to vacuum the excess grinds out from around the burr but I will need a very small vacuum device to do this successfully - we'll see.
This is a significant step up from my $20 flywheel ...
January 14, 2017
This is a significant step up from my $20 flywheel chipper. My brewer is the drip variety, so i use the "coarse-medium" setting (the medium setting has three notches: "fine-medium", "medium-medium", and the setting i use) resulting in a less bitter taste than before. My only surprise is that even with gear-reduction, there is substantial static on the collection container, making it necessary for me to hand-shield the coffee-maker while pouring the grinds into the filter. Next step up, i'll be roasting green beans in a hot-air popcorn popper.
UPDATED: Bad bean bin - better now
June 7, 2016
I will be returning this product to Amazon and shopping for a different model. I can't rate how well it actually grinds the beans because I never got to use it. The plastic bean hopper does not fit onto the grinder (or else the grinder doesn't fit the hopper), with every member of the family trying unsuccessfully to attach. We tried to finesse it on, and then brute force as much as reasonable without risking breaking the plastic. The users manual was of little help. I noticed a few other reviewers also had issues with the bean hopper, so shop carefully.UPDATE: Well, I missed the 30-day window for returning this grinder, so I decided to contact the manufacturer for advice. They responded to my on-line request for help with a phone call a few hours later. The service rep walked me through the issue in just a couple of minutes and I was able to fix the issue. Turns out the product was shipped with the black plastic ring (that the hopper locks into) rotated about 90 degrees out of position. The fix involved taking a kitchen knife and shifting that ring around. The hopper fits now and the grinder is working fine. So I've changed my review from 1 star to 4.
Excellent product with some flaws
November 7, 2015
I bought this several months ago and have waited until now to write a review because I wanted to see how it performed over a reasonable period of time. In general I am quite pleased. It appears to do what a burr grinder is supposed to do, that is, grind the coffee to uniform size. It is also quite easy to use and not difficult to clean. On the latter point, I have found that if I clean the unit once a week (and I make coffee seven days a week) that is sufficient. The major problem is that the grind settings seem to be off. A French press normally uses a coarsely ground coffee but when I use any of the coarse settings the coffee it produces enables the French press plunger to go down with no resistance at all (correctly ground, there will be some resistance, which means, the coffee the Capresso produces needs to be ground more finely than the coarse setting allows). The other principal negative is, as others have commented, the power does not automatically shut off once the coffee is ground. Power runs on a timer and one has to guess how long the grinding process will take in setting the timer. While this isn't a huge issue, it appears to be something that Capresso could have easily fixed. On balance, however, this is an excellent machine for the price.
A good (though not perfect) product for a great price.
November 6, 2015
Unfortunately, good, affordable burr grinders are few and far between. This machine from Capresso, however, does it's job quite well. I generally use it either for a French press or a stovetop espresso maker, and it works effectively, especially with the espresso maker. It grinds quickly, consistently, and without too much noise. Even so, there are quite a few flaws that the company could address:*One of my biggest complaints about this machine is that the coarsest grind setting is.. well, not very coarse. Despite having sixteen different grind levels, the coarsest one possible produces a grind that is only slightly coarser than the average grind that would be used for a drip coffee maker. On the coarsest setting, I still get a fair amount of sludge while making coffee with a French press.*The "easy to clean" advertisement is absurd. While you can quickly give this machine a superficial cleaning, removing all of the grounds from the different blades and compartments is next to impossible, a problem which may eventually cause bitter tasting coffee.*While the machine comes with the cord stored underneath it, it is very difficult to get it back into this position for storage. Furthermore, the clearance space for the cord is not wide enough, and the machine seems to put a lot of pressure on it. I'm worried that this will cause the cord to deteriorate over time.*I must admit that I agree with other reviewers in that I find the timer system baffling, especially since it uses arbitrary numbering. Why not just have an on/off button? For my purposes the timer doesn't bother me, since I never put in more coffee beans than I'm going to use right away, but in the end it's just a bad design.Overall, this machine does quite well for its purposes, and is one of the only good burr grinders for under two hundred dollars. As a final note, I would probably give this machine three stars if it wasn't for its good price. This grinder works well, but you may be disappointed if you're looking to use it for a French press, or if you're looking to be able to effectively clean it.
Great grinder but could use a few design improvements
March 20, 2015
Excellent grinder. Could warrant a 5th star with a few design improvements, especially to the on off mechanism. Once I got the process down I have no major problems with it.A few things to note:It's quite heavy. Fine for me, but may be difficult for some to clean especially considering that it had a slick surface that could be difficult to hold on to, for example while turning it over to dump grinds out during cleaning.A very small amount of grinds will usually fall out (and onto your counter) each time the tray is removed. Since you do this each time you grind, expect to need to wipe the counter around the grinder occasionally. Also the grinder blade is not secured so remember to remove it before turning the unit upside down for cleaning. It seems silly but it does look secure and it's easy to make this mistake, which I did.The grinder blade will rust a bit if you wash it in water and don't immediately dry it or leave any wet spot. This happens almost very quickly. Fortunately it's possible to get the trace rust off pretty easily by buffing, but it can be disconcerting the first time you see it. I recommend using a brush to clean when you clean the blade.Remember not to take the hopper off while beans are inside. There is nothing keeping them in the hopper if it's not attached to the machine. You'll have a mess all over if you forget this. The on/off switch is a timer dial. There is play in the dial and so I found it to be difficult to use accurately. Therefore I usually measure the beans out each time and grind until empty. If you slightly depress the dial to the left it will turn out without the timer. The downside of this is that you have to stand here and hold it. I brew and therefore grind for individual cups. It may be less of a problem for those grinding for multiple cups/pots at once who use the timer. This timer almost made made me want to give 3 stars instead of 4.

I'm a cold brewer and this is my review
September 3, 2017
A moderate grinder for my needs. It's more convenient than a cheap blade grinder. I "typicaly" brew cold coffee about every 3-4 days. I brew using a a common 2 quart brew system. Bottom line: I grind a lot of coarse coffee with this thing. It doesn't grind as coarse as I'd it to for cold brew, but it's close enough for a descent brew. It churns out a lot of very fine grounds that tends to stick you the edges of the catch bin, some of it in big clumps. I take the lid off and brush it out gently to help get a more even grind. Still not perfect, but faster than a blade grinder, and easily matchs my skill at achieving a semi-even grind. Cleanup can take forever if you're picky. The brush it comes with is small and stiff and helps, but it's not enough for the job at all.I also use a small artist paintbrush, and a can of electronics duster outside (does wonders!) The top unscrews and can go in the dishwasher with the catch bin, but the bin has developed a haze with repeated washes. The stainless is a bit of a pain to keep clean, but I don't have stainless appliances so I don't really know the proper cleaning techniques. The cord is long enough for my countertop and wraps nicely underneath. All in all, I'd buy it if I was on a budget and needed a grinder. I don't recommend it as an upgrade if you already own a grinder.
Grinding for drip machines as well as French Press works fine, as both the medium and coarse settings seem ...
January 10, 2017
Overall decent quality grinder for the price. I purchased one after a family member let me borrow theirs for a few days. Grinding for drip machines as well as French Press works fine, as both the medium and coarse settings seem consistant. Would give it a four stars, except for the fact that the grinder grinds a small portion of my coffee beans very VERY fine every time no matter the grind setting. There are some downsides to this grinder depending on the intended coffee method. For drip or French Press, works great. If grinding for Espresso or Turkish style coffee, I would not recommend. The grinder is on the loud side, so if you don't want to wake up your house mates in the morning you may want to skip this grinder. As for me, I have preground espresso roast that I buy from the store and all of the people I live with are out of the house by the time I grind my coffee. From what research I have done on BURR style grinders, there really is no other option in the price range of the Cuisinart DBM-8 that will solve the problems mentioned above. For the espresso purist or some one concerned about noise of the machine I would recommend spending more for a higher quality grinder. For the casual coffee user like my self this has suited most of my coffee needs.
good product
January 10, 2017
I bought this to replace an identical coffee grinder that eventually died after several years of use. We grind coffee at least once per day. I like the large hopper for beans so that I don't refill it so often. The one issue I have with this new grinder is that the amount of coffee it grinds doesn't seem consistent from day to day. it's also tricky to adjust the setting for how much coffee it grinds - it goes from not enough to waaay too much in about a millimeter of movement of the selector bar.
Save up for something better!
August 27, 2016
Given it's relatively low cost (by comparison), I really hoped I'd like this unit but I think I will end up trying to sell it. First, it has 18 grind settings but the difference from one setting to the next is basically imperceptible so there's a lot of trial and error. It could easily be pared down to 1/2 that many settings, maybe even a 1/3. That's more a comment than a complaint however. The biggest con of this unit is the plastic hopper (wish I had taken other reviewers comments more seriously) and the static cling. It is a royal PITA. Good coffee beans are not cheap and the waste and the mess from this hopper is unacceptable. You can't pour the ground coffee from the hopper directly into a filter basket as it makes a mess. I have to put it into a another (glass) container and even that makes a mess. Sorry Cuisinart, Reduce the number of settings, use a glass receptacle, and you'll have a really good product rather than an OK one.
no longer a must have for coffee lovers
June 4, 2016
I don't know what people are talking about with the plastic piece that is breaking off in the bean holder. This has been reported on competitors as well. I have this one and an expensive professional level one of a different brand where that breakage has been reported. Honestly, on either one you would have to be very rough with this to break it off. And there should be no reason one would be digging that roughly into the bottom of the holder to break that piece off. And no way could this be breaking on it's own.So here is the rest of my 2 cents. What is weak on this is the electronic switch. It is flimsy. But. I am one guy making one cup a day. I have it set at the lowest setting. 4 seconds for my No 2 filter that is just perfect for one cup of coffee. Need a second cup? Grind another 4 seconds. Give the machine a few good raps on the sides to get the spare grounds to fall out of the grinder into the lower catch. The recommended brush is handy for detailed cleaning. As long as you aren't harshly moving the switch, this should last you for years. Well worth the price on prime. Macy's is nearly double this price and not worth it. So if you are a coffee lover, know what you are doing and prefer that perfect cup of pour over this is for you.Compared to the other model at 8x the price, 3x taller and bulkier this is better. One mainly because there is an alpha label indicating fine to course. Where as the more expensive larger one. Though higher quality in manufacturing, only has a numerical value and you have to guess at the grind level and it will take a lot of beans to find that right consistency.I do own both, and like both. But for the cost/value. This is more worth it than the other brand/style mentioned above. Why minus one star? On both, you cannot remove the bean holder to do a more detailed cleaning of the grinder or to switch your beans for a different blend/roast. you must tip the whole machine over to clean it out. This is especially annoying on the bigger model listed above (remember, under a different brand) that weighs 20lbs. So given that fact, this weighing maybe 1 lbs w/o beans. it is much easier to tip to remove beans. But both should have a way to remove the holder. That is it. Pour over coffee lovers. This is a must. You get an even grind compared to conventional grinders leaving you with fines and large chunks. You get a more consistent grind with a burr grinder.Revised review. 3/11/2017This is only okay. I have not had any breakage issues. But the issue I do have is inconsistent grinds. I get way too many 'fines' that a burr grinder is supposed to reduce. It holds a good 10+ oz of beans in the hopper. but I no longer get a good cup of coffee because the grind is not very good. I tried adjusting it and tweeking it. but I get tiny fine grinds mixed in the medium course grinds resulting in a weak cup. The more expensive burr grinder that is heavier and 3 times the size gives me a perfect grind and great cup of coffee. 3 stars for size, and ease of use and apparent decent build quality. But if you TRULY like a perfect cup of coffee do not buy this.
still going from Jan 12, 2012....today is 12/1/2015

Where to start. We love our coffee...I mean love it, I use filtered water (poland spring), to brew my coffee, we order coffee from different coffee roasters nationwide to try a variety...we have our favorites..Burr grinder is the way to go, from coarse grinds for our French Press, to fine powder for our espresso machines. Why not 5 stars? Why only 3?It does it's job.But it's not built to last. I have had to taken this apart 3 times fix the switch under the device (I have bypassed this). We "tap" the coffee grinds down and the plastic on the underside of the tray has started to chip away. It's noisy. I feel like some insulation inside would make it much quieter for all.

Well designed - but came with rust on the Burr
March 1, 2017
The Grinder itself works pretty well and is reasonably quiet for grinder. The biggest disappointment for me was that upon disassembling to see how the burr worked, I discovered that it had rust. Was not able to remove the rust with the tablets provided and so ended up using a Dremmel tool and a brass wire brush to remove the rust, something I'm sure shortened the life of the burr considerably. I have included an image of the burr as received. To sum it up the product seems to be designed well and works well, but I question the effort put into checking for defects in the manufacturing process.
Good quality unit, poor accessories.
February 11, 2016
The actual unit is a heavy-duty marvel and the grinds it produces add enjoyment to the coffee experience. Where the product falls short is in the light plastic bean bin that sits atop the unit. It broke at the base inside of a couple weeks and we're still waiting to get a replacement. We have a call in to the number given but it went straight to an answering machine. So far we're waiting for a call-back and it's been days. Meanwhile we can grind but only at the setting where the plastic failed.

February 8, 2016
I bought this grinder for coffee that I brew in a French press. The press requires a coarse grind, but this grinder's most coarse setting grinds the coffee too fine. The resulting consistency looks like coffee from a can, with bits at least half the size of the grounds I get from a store grinder set to "coarse." I'm limping along with the machine, but now prefer to grind my coffee at the grocery store, sacrificing freshness for grind size. I'm very disappointed.
Worked well for sometime, but died after three years
August 29, 2015
Two years later still working perfectly in spite of daily use. Grinds beans evenly and (reasonably) quietly.Would not recommend using with coffee beans straight out of the freezer. The grinder was clogging at first which, I realized, was due to moisture causing grounds to cake within the grinder. Have only used beans at room temperature since without any problems.(Update): the grinder motor suddenly died after almost exactly three years of regular use. That was quite disappointing given the price of the product, which is why I have downgraded my rating.
It didn't seem like anything that would be all that important
June 2, 2015
The largest grind on this is probably a bit on the small side for french press. Otherwise, this worked well up until it broke. While removing the top part to clean it, a tiny little piece of plastic broke off the top container piece. It didn't seem like anything that would be all that important, but trying to adjust the settings after that was impossible. Also, apparently, they don't sell replacement parts.
Save the Packaging for 30 Days!
November 25, 2014
The grinder seems to work well but the timer on mine broke within a week's time. It sticks at "2," and will not budge for days (literally, days) unless you manually coax it to zero. Luckily, you can stop the grinding by twisting the basket away from the grind settings, so I can live with that. Nevertheless, that messed up timer is not the sign of a quality product. If I had kept the original packaging, I would have returned it.

Form over function
August 28, 2017
As a grinder, it works fine, but the design of the place where the grinds fall is terrible. First, it's made of plastic, which means static sticks the grinds to the sides and top. Second, the large, rectangular design means that it's next to impossible to dump the grinds into a coffee filter without them scattering everywhere. It looks good, but I recommend you get something else with a smaller, glass receptacle instead.
Really, really, really loud.
June 7, 2017
This works fine. It was my first burr grinder, and it's nice that it measures the amount for you and has multiple grind settings. The coffee tastes better than it did with a regular grinder. I decided to spend a little on this Cuisinart instead of what seemed like a lot on the KitchenAid. And I've had this for all of a couple of months. But I'm ordering the good one now. Don't waste your time and money and hearing. First, it's a complete mess, grinds everywhere because of the design and plastic cup. But the worst, worst thing: it's the loudest thing I've ever heard. It's just so loud. I didn't use my decibel meter but if I had, it would definitely be an osha violation. Like, it's so fricking loud. The cat runs and hides. It's louder than my husband's power tools and louder than any rock concert. And it's the first thing you hear in the morning. And so, you know, there it is. That's my review.
Not for espresso.
June 5, 2017
Not for espresso. This grinder cannot produce ground coffee fine enough for espresso machines. Even at the finest setting, the coffee is still too course. It is fine for grinding coffee for drip brewing. Look for a Beville grinder if you'd like something that can produce much finer ground coffee; but it is much more expensive than this one. I rated this 2 stars because while it does work, it doesn't work as specified and I had to immediately buy a new grinder to replace it.
Not good even for low price.
May 10, 2017
Pros: Easy to clean, easy to use.Cons: inconsistent grinds, settings don't change grind enough, can't grind fine enough for espresso, doesn't grind consistently enough for French press, lots of static cling in the grounds chamber.I picked this grinder up when it was on sale for $35. I should've known what I was getting at that price for a burr grinder. First of all this is a disk burr grinder NOT a conical burr grinder, if you really care about your coffee a conical burr grinder will give you a much better grind. But back to this grinder, there are different courseness settings but they don't actually change the grind all that much. This grinder also doesn't grind fine enough for espresso, and the course setting is not consistent enough for French press, you will have lots of fine grinds in your coffee that don't get pressed out. This grinder will work fine for people who use autodrip machines with paper filters, there will be some fine grounds that will make it through reusable filters. The plastic grounds chamber is not the best either, the grounds really like to stick to it's surfaces and you will need to wash it out and dry it after every use. This unit is easy to use, and easy to clean. It includes a cheap cleaning brush. The bean storage is not airtight, but at this price I didn't expect that. I would not recommend this grinder to others.
Spewed coffee grounds all over the kitchen
May 5, 2017
The pro:It will grind coffee (most of the time, see below). The cons:First of all this is a large item, not for small kitchens. Will not grind very fine, not even close. The worst part is that sometimes it will surprise you and expel the ground caffee all over your kitchen. Nothing like having to sweep, vaccuum and spend an hour cleaning one's kitchen BEFORE a cup of coffee. The machine quit two days after warranty wore out.The customer wants cheap, the cheaper the better, the manufacturers oblidge. Don't complain about getting junk when you want cheap cheap cheap.
Decent product. Less than ideal return process.
March 30, 2017
Got this grinder as a Christmas present in 2016. Worked really well for the first four months (thus, the two stars), but today, it stopped working. Grinding slowed, then stopped. Opened the lid and smelled melted plastic. So I called the CuisineArt customer service line. They warranty their products for 18 months--that's good, and they'll ship a new unit out right away, but the unfortunate customer will be liable for a $10.00 shipping and return shipping fee for a replacement. Also, the return box does won't have the return address on it (the rep had to give me that address). AND, if that wasn't enough, I was also given a 15 character "service number" to write on the outside of the box as well as on a piece of paper that was to be inserted inside the box, along with my check for $10.00. I guess I've been spoiled by Amazon's very friendly return process. CuisineArt's return process is very customer unfriendly and I get to pay $10.00 for the privilege? Nope. I'll look for another grinder from another company, and I'll keep this experience in mind when I shop for other CuisineArt products knowing this may be my misfortune again if another product dies under warranty. Thankfully, other options are available.

Nice grinder, but very messy,
Huge static problem in the plastic catch cup, poor design.
November 24, 2016
Probably a pretty nice grinder, seems well built and grinds consistently.THE STATIC CLING IS HORRENDOUS HOWEVER. I forget what a nice grinder it is because everytime I use it, all I can think about is what a mess it's making. I've seen individual coffee grinds propelled vertically at least 18" out of the badly designed plastic catch cup. The static problem is completely out of control and the device gets coffee grinds everywhere.I can't recommend this product, even though it's good at grinding coffee.
Not for Pour-overs
February 23, 2016
I really wanted to like this machine - it is solid, compact and quiet. But... 15-20% of coffee by weight stays in the grind chamber for volumes up to 30 grams, and there was no way to get coarse enough grounds for a Chemex, let alone a french press. So even if I was willing to disassemble the unit after each use and knock all the grinds out of the grind chamber and feed chute, the resulting ground coffee was too fine for my purposes. Back to my Hario hand-grinder.
Beware of a Hidden Outrageous Cost.
November 17, 2015
I have owned 2 of these burr grinders for over 10 yrs. , they are indestructible , reliable , and a joy to use on a daily basis.Until today I would have rated it 5 stars. Stick with me. The weakest part of the Infinity grinder, the only part that will wear out over 10 plus years is Part #56.05 "Soft Collar for Upper Burr " it is a rubber sleeve that fits over the upper burr to make grabbing it easier for removal when cleaning. You will want to clean the grinder after each use to insure that the coffee grinds easy, and flows smoothly to the Ground Coffee Container. Not a big deal, cleaning is less than 30 seconds and becomes a part of making coffee. But ,depending on frequency of use and how often you clean it, the soft collar will wear out and become too pliable ,no longer performing its function. It will need to be replaced about every 3-6 months. That led me to periodically order 3 to 6 of them so I always had spares for each grinder. Cost me about $1.50 per collar or abut $4.50 every 12 to 18 months. No big deal. Today I called to place my order for 6 soft collars. I was told by a very embarrassed and sympathetic customer service rep. that they no longer sold the soft collar separate ,that I had to buy the Upper Burr Grinder w/ Soft Collar , $ 16 plus shipping of about $6 ,total over $22.He understood I did not need the grinder, and that I would be paying $22 for a rubber collar that used to cost me about $1.50. He even put me on hold and talked to his manager to see if they could not accommodate me.He came back and said they could not sell the collar separate as their supplier now only sells the two parts to them as a single package . Apparently Jura-Cappresso does not have enough clout with their supplier to make them sell the collar as a separate item. And if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you.So be aware that depending on use, you may be paying over $22 with shipping for a $1.50 part you need ,for the grinder 2 to 4 times a year. Very unfortunate for such a great product, I expected more from Jura-Capresso .
I was in love with this product until I found out it has ...
April 25, 2015
I was in love with this product until I found out it has a terrible design flaw. Every time I grind some beans, there is a considerable amount of coffee that gets trapped in the chamber and never gets to the plastic container. This means that unless you are cleaning the machine EVERY TIME you use it, you will end up with old and stale coffee mixed with the freshly grind one. If you are someone who doesn't clean the machine thoroughly every once in while, you may not notice this (I was). Net, I recommend to stay away from this grinder if you are looking for convenience and ease of use.
This grinder changed my mind - I used to like it, now I do not.
March 14, 2015
I originally gave this grinder a very good review. However, now that I have had a chance to live with it for a while, I am removing two stars. The grinder performs well grinding the beans evenly and with a wide range of grind settings. But that is probably the only good thing about the grinder. We had it clog once and stop running, but it is easy to disassemble and clean. There should be an on-off switch instead of the variable knob. We have had problems with it not shutting off. It is also not easy to figure out which number to use for a given amount of beans in the hopper. A simple on-off switch would be the right way to do this. By far the worst problem is the plastic hopper. It builds up a huge static charge and ground coffee goes flying everywhere when I remove it from the machine. I do not recommend this machine.

Had decent results with longevity with previous grinders, but had a used grinder sent to me.
October 16, 2017
I've had 2 of these - one for 11+ years and my SO has abused it as he can drink pots of coffee and it's still going strong. I bought another one for another house about 4 years ago and it started making noises and croaked about 2 weeks ago. The latest one was used on weekends only and only 6-8 cup grinds, so I'm on the fence about the quality given the two different experiences.I ordered another this last weekend to replace the dead machine and I've just opened a box with a used mill in it - coffee beans in the top and grounds in the reservoir along with no booklet, fingerprints all over and no packaging besides broken cardboard that I'll have to figure out how to get in the box. Sending it back for a replacement and will hopefully get the twin of my first grinder...and unused!
You’ll get about 9 mos and then it may catch on fire
October 13, 2017
Bought in January 2017. It’s October 10, 2017 and every time we use it, it smokes like it’s ready to catch on fire. Does it come with a warranty. Yes! 18 month warranty which is generous But we have to pay for shipping ($10) and as they state on their web site “To facilitate the speed and accuracy of your return, please enclose a check or money order for $4.00 for shipping and handling. (California residents need only supply proof of purchase and should call 1-800-726-0190 for shipping instructions.)” so I’m out 35 bucks, need to spend another +/-15 to replace it. Don’t think so. We have quite a few cuisinarts in our household and that will end today.
Not for espresso or even French press!!!
October 8, 2017
I had high hopes for this "burr" grinder, but had to return immediately. I found that the course (or even medium for that matter) is wayyyy too course for even a French press. I ended up with tea looking coffee. Tried the "fine" setting for a shot of espresso and was not even close to fine enough. Our $10 spice grinder works way better at grinding than this for both espresso and French press. Don't bother with this one.
Too darn loud and..
September 23, 2017
Have owned an older and more expensive Cuisinart conical Burr grinder for probably 8 years which was great until it wasn't. Thought I would try a less expensive model but it would not shut off automatically - had to pull the plug. The switch is very flimsy and it was very slow to grind the beans.Which brings me to the major problem, the NOISE is deafening. Not just the decibels but the pitch. Sounds like a jet airplane taking off. Saw reviews that this was loud but on some youtube videos, it didn't seem to be as screechingly unbearable to the point where I had to block the ears or leave the room when it was grinding beans. See attached screenshot of decibel test.Because it seemed very slow, maybe the beans were not going through the grinder at the correct rate, which would affect the sound of the motor. Also read many reviews that it breaks after a few months after I decided to return it.
Great until it wasn't.

Grinder was bought a month ago and has failed after a single small bag of coffee. Worked yesterday great but today failed to turn on. When i contacted the customer service from Cuisinart i was told that i would need to contact Amazon to fix the issue. Amazon of course is taking care of me but its bad when the customer service for an item is non existent.Overall the grinder worked well at first. No wierd noises or smells from the motor and its super easy to keep clean. I like that i could just twist to adjust the grind setting and it holds plenty of coffee in the upper and lower bins. Just wish the customer service from Cuisinart was better.
disappointed with Cusinart - is it on the decline?
July 4, 2017
Purchased it last December and it just died. No motor activity... checked blades to find them move freely.. no jams. I had old one that worked for years and was disappointed to find new one not lasting long. I have another one in another home that also died. So disappointed. I noticed same complaints from others concerning same issue. I will call Cuisinart tomorrow.Update: I called Cuisinart... the rep was nice and said it is under warranty. They will ship a new one to me. I was told I have to pay $10 to ship the old back! I protested and said I will use other shipper which is cheaper than UPS. The fee is waived but I have to bring it to a shipper to ship it back. Buyer beware!!! You have to pay to ship broken or defective product under warranty back to Cuisinart! I have other Cuisinart appliances.... I think I will not buy another Cuisinart appliances again.

The static from the plastic catch container is ridiculous. This grinder makes a mess every time I use it due to the static cling. I can't have a single brew without grinds in it because grinds will static cling to the plastic container then fall all over the place when attempting to pour into the filter.
Stopped working after less than six months of light use (one coffee-drinker household)
June 13, 2015
This completely stopped working after less than six months of relatively light use--there is only one coffee drinker in the household. I bought this because of the high user rating, but it really is an inferior machine--don't even think about buying it!
Good grinder But stopped working.
March 29, 2015
I like it. As a grinder it does a very good job but after a short time it stopped working. I have to shake it vigorously every morning to start it. I cleaned it because i thought this might be the problem but it still doesn't work. This started happening after a month so i couldn't return it to Amazon and it's a hustle to send it for service.
BEWARE...HORRIBLE PRODUCT DESIGN!!!
March 15, 2015
This is an extremely poorly-designed machine. Approximately 3-4 grams of every batch of coffee that I grind fails to fall into the ground coffee container and remains in the grinding cylinder itself, which means that -- since I don't want to drink today's coffee tomorrow -- I have to clean out said grinding cylinder EVERY TIME I GRIND SOME BEANS. It's a joke. The source of the problem is rather obvious: the hole through which the ground coffee is supposed to fall into the grounds container is AT THE SAME LEVEL AS THE BURRS THEMSELVES, not below them, which means that gravity offers zero assistance in removing the grounds from the grinding cylinder. This and the fact that the elements in the grinding cylinder seem to be static-enhancing rather than static-reducing makes for an unpleasant, and often very messy, coffee grinding experience. The grounds just sit there in the grinding cylinder...that is, unless you go into the cylinder itself with a brush and remove the unexpunged grounds. REALLY ANNOYING!!!
