Five Star Reviews: | 80% There are no reviews yet | 68% Set them both up in our bedroom and the result is amazing. The resistance on the keys is great November 4, 2016 My girlfriend used to play piano, but we don't have room for one in our apartment, so I bought her the Yamaha P115 88-key Digital Piano and FC4A Piano Sustain Foot Pedal. Set them both up in our bedroom and the result is amazing. The resistance on the keys is great, it feels like a real piano, and it's small enough to fit next to our bed in our fairly small bedroom with no issues. Audio quality out of the built-in speakers is pretty good, but of course we could always hook it up to a better sound output if we wanted. It was a little pricy, but it's worth it if you need a piano in a small space. Great Value and Must-Have Keyboard Accessory February 11, 2016 What a great value this is. This is a full-sized pedal that is the same size, look, and feel of an actual piano sustain foot pedal. It is well built and looks great. It feels that same as the foot pedal on my acoustic piano and it has a solid, non-slip base that stays where you put it. I'm really glad I did not opt for the square, guitar-style foot pedal model. Also, if you RTFM (Read The F...g Manual) and connect the pedal with power off and power your keyboard/electronic piano up with your foot off the pedal, it works exactly as advertised and not backwards. This is a must-have for any keyboard or electronic piano. This is for my musician husband... January 11, 2014 I bought this at my husband's behest and it works just the way he wanted, does just what he needed, and he now uses it all the time at his gigs. I cannot speak to much else about it, but if he likes it and uses it, it must do what it is intended to do, or I would definitely know about it. Yamaha FC-5 Sustain Pedal for Portable Electronic Keyboard May 2, 2013 I am very pleased with this product. The pedal is very stable and does not slide around on a hardwood floor when in use. It's very easy to set up. I took it right out of the box, removed the breadtwister from the cord, plugged it into the "sustain" outlet on the back of the Yamaha keyboard, and it was all set to use. The pedal is very effective. When you press a key without the sustain pedal, it sounds like the note is very short like it's from a keyboard. When you press the same key using the sustain pedal, the note is "sustained" as it is supposed to be and it sounds like it was played on a piano instead of an electronic keyboard. The product arrived in excellent condition in less than one week, even with using the Free Super Saver Shipping option. Took a chance, grateful I did. November 29, 2012 Unlike other expression pedals available, Yamaha chose the "Keep It Simple Stupid" path.I'm glad they did, because this pedal is very sturdy and does it's job exceptionally well, without any fluff to inflate the price. It's low cost, it's quality construction, and it does exactly what it says it does.I didn't want to spend $150 on just an expession pedal (such as the roland), but I was wary of spending $50 on the moog or line 6, whose reviews are not exactly raving about their longevity. I'm glad I found the FC7, it's a quality product at a very reasonable price.Notes:* I am using it as the expression input for Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Boy Delay Guitar Effects Pedal - works perfectly.* There is no switch to change polarity, so check compatibility with your device. Great Stereo Volume/Expression pedal! June 1, 2012 Got this thing because of the great reviews.Turns out it works flawlessly with my 2 digital processors as both a volume and expression (wah, trem, etc.).I use it mainly as a permanent fixture on my custom made digital only effects board for guitar.I love the size and shape of this pedal, so I made it a little more personalized by cutting a polished diamond plate foot pad to swap out the stock rubber cover that came with it.These Yamaha pedals have been around for like 30 years and are still the same great quality made in Japan stuff I have come to expect from the tuning fork guys.Rock on! |

Three Star Reviews: | 20% There are no reviews yet | 6% Three Stars September 6, 2017 the half pedal function did not work. Could be the piano, but could also be the pedal. not sure Half-Pedal functionality didn't work for me January 16, 2017 This works ok for me, but I'm pretty disappointed since I bought it for the 'half pedal' functionality and I couldn't get it to work at all for me (and this product IS the one I have- the FC3A, not a different model). For me, this straight up works as an on/off switch- that's it. Either the pedal is down and I get 100% sustain for as long as the note would normally allow, or it's off and the note stops abruptly. There's no in-between where I can control the length of the sustain by how far I hold my foot down, or if I let up slightly, etc. I might be totally mis-understanding what half-pedal does, but from what I read I as expecting to be able to control the dynamics of the sustain by altering how far I put my foot down, but I'm not able to get that at all. I tried using the internal voices in my NP-31 (which did say it suppors half-pedal functionality), as well as in my DAW when using it as a MIDI controller, and I saw no difference.I do sometiems also get the reversed functionality issue where not holding the pedal produces sustain and pushing it down stops sustain. I usually just have to unplug for a few seconds and re-plug it in, or turn the keyboard on and off again and that fixes it. Similarly kind of annoying though. Three Stars December 15, 2016 I returned this item and it won't work on my Yamaha Keyboard. Wrong description. Easy to set up for volume control on my system ... August 21, 2016 Not sure if there are many options available. Easy to set up for volume control on my system -- difficult for anything else (and it is attached correctly Yamaha Motif) -- I kept it because I needed a volume pedal. Works as needed, but not with an Ableton Push April 19, 2014 The polarity is reverse from what is used by Ableton Push. I'm currently running a Max for Live plugin to switch the signal in Live, but it would make more sense to buy a pedal with a polarity switch on it from the start. Otherwise, the construction and action are good. As others have said it is very light. Great for portability, but it'll move around on you as you use it. |
Two Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 5% Not a true sustain pedal September 2, 2016 If you tap a key it will hold the note as if you had held the key down but it does not hold the note any longer. A sustain pedal should hold the note longer than if you just held the key down. Well built. Be warned: there is a compatibility ... May 17, 2016 Well built. Be warned: there is a compatibility issue that prevents this expression pedal from working properly with M-Audio, Roland, and earlier Nord Electro keyboards. You will have to either resolder the wiring yourself (thus voiding any warranty) or purchase an adapter for about 20 bucks. Ridiculous that this is not mentioned in the product description. Too Noisy March 1, 2016 The pedal itself works fine, but the actual mechanics of pressing and releasing the pedal make a lot of noise. It might be ok for performances with an amp and an audience, but for classical piano in my living room it was excessive and distracting. After using this pedal for a bit I ended up purchasing Yamaha LP7A Keyboard Foot Pedal Unit. I've found it to be nearly silent so I'm much happier with that. This is an original Yamaha product. However the rubber ... September 29, 2015 This is an original Yamaha product. However the rubber protector from the upper part does not fit into the lower part causing a split off of the upper rubber. Only in “seat position” it works well, but not so in the “stand position”. This gave me a disenchantment, because the rest is a solid and firm construction. Build quality is nice, but missing 20% of signal range. July 30, 2015 I'm using this with Mainstage 3 via an Akai MPK249.The good: feels sturdy, mechanics are smooth. The bad: with my setup, at least, this pedal is only sending MIDI values of 29-127. Can't get anything below that range. I was hoping this would replace my Roland EV-5, which had pretty bad dead zones at both min and max. I'll have to return it and give the Moog expression pedal a try. Didn't work for my application. July 10, 2014 It may only work with a Yamaha keyboard. Most foot switches have a "normally open" set of contact. That is to say; when you step on the switch the contacts close. This foot switch is the opposite. On my Casio keyboard this results in getting a sustained note continuously, unless you step on the pedal. This would mean having to continuously depress the pedal while playing unless you wanted a sustained note(s) or other foot operated functions. I returned it. |
One Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 6% Foot Pedal does not work May 15, 2017 Plugged it into the Yamaha Keyboard and it simply holds the keyboard tones although pedal is not being depressed. Read reviews which showed many, many others folks were having similar problems. I should have read reviews first:( Very unhappy with the item Reversed November 7, 2016 The pedal was in good shape and looked brand new. However, the functions were reversed. It would sustain without me pushing down on it. In order to remove the sustain I had to press the down on the pedal. This pedal works the opposite of normal pedals. It ... January 22, 2015 This pedal works the opposite of normal pedals. It sustains when left alone, and is staccato when pressed. It's a very important and fairly rudimentary thing to get right. Stopped working after one gig. November 9, 2014 I'd give zero stars if it were possible.Unfortunately for me I didn't work this into my rig until a month or two after I bought it; I did test it out to make sure it worked with my keyboards (a Kurzweil pc3 and Roland vr-700). I used it at one gig, worked fine. I bought it to toggle the leslie speed on the Roland primarily, and the next gig it simply didn't work. I tried it with the pc3 as well to make sure it wasn't a problem with the Roland, but no dice there either. So I paid quite a bit for a leslie toggle switch for one gig, and my mistake for not gigging this dud right away (as then it would have been close enough to the date of purchase to return).I'm very careful with my gear, there was nothing traumatic that happened to this pedal. It simply stopped working. |
