I've been framed! 😂
June 7, 2017
I love this sturdy and simple bedframe! I purchased the mattress, bedding, rug, and lamps in the picture all from Amazon and I couldn't be happier with all of it. The frame is really cool because it collapses down. In a matter of minutes, the frame is only 2 inches thick and can be carried out easily by one person. That would be great for home staging but I use it all the time. Totally worth the price and, if you shop strategically on Amazon, you can get a really high-end look for pennies on the dollar.
I found the "Zinus 14 inch Smart Mattress" and read that it would hold some 1200pounds
October 2, 2016
A retired Marine gunnery sergeant now at 285 lbs. 69 yrs young and as we say in the Corps :no longer lean but still mean, semper fi. I bought a town house 5 yrs back and as a golfer lower backs are common so I bought a platform bed so I would be lower to the floor when getting up which I felt would take stress off my back. Well last week the bed collapsed, which was made entirely with particle board and cheaply made and was cricking all the time. So I decided to get a metal bed frame that would hold my fat ass and not crick. I'm a guy that researches everything to the 9nth degree whether it be a new vehicle or a loaf of bread. I found the "Zinus 14 inch Smart Mattress" and read that it would hold some 1200pounds! So I, as usual read a ton of reviews. If their claim is correct then it should hold my fat ass up so I ordered one. So here's my closing. It actually arrived super quick, I live in San Diego, California. The majority of reviews I read were mainly about how log it took to assemble and some parts were not included. The parts are simply wing nuts and a couple bolts. I took the reviews as a challenge so I took a quick glance at the instructional diagram and assembled the whole unit in twenty minutes. I would suggest, which I did, is to get four (that's all you need) 1/4 inch lock washers to enhance the security of the wing nuts. So once assembled I said to myself once I put my mattress on it I said to myself" Gunny go for it" so I took a big diver upon it and it was like Heaven! it held my fat ass and my old wavy mattress felt great as well also. However, I AM purchasing a new mid-firm mattress to go with this gem of a Zenus Smart Base. Nothing more to say, the product is exceptional, worth every cent, don't sell it short, it is a must have, LOVE MINE!!
Loved It! :^)
March 21, 2016
Loved it!!! I needed something that was sturdy, quiet and didn't bounce. It's great for sleep and "other activities" without waking the neighbors to the creek in if a regular box spring.
Amazing platform
November 17, 2015
PROS:
This is a solid piece of metal. I love that I can safely lay on it at night. I guess you can even jump on it for those times of joy and playfulness. It was very easy to install in under 10 minutes. No tools required. Similarly, it is very easy to carry and move around as it comes in two separate pieces. No more dissembling those heavy and bulky wooden bed frames.

The best thing I love about this mattress platform is the extra storage space it gives you underneath. It is raised enough to store bins and shoes and even short drawers. I get many compliments from friends and family about how simple and elegant this mattress platform is.

CONS:
I'm a structural engineer so I like to have redundancy in my designs. I wish the joists that span from one side of the platform to the other were a little thicker. But maybe that's just me being a perfectionist. The rest of the steel that borders the platform and its legs are good enough, though. Overall I still think this platform is solid and very durable.

If you found this review helpful, I would appreciate it if you click yes.

sturdy and works
September 12, 2017
It's not the prettiest base, but it was very easy to put together and it holds the mattress up. I got a Zinus 12 inch gel infused mattress to pair with this.We definitely use a bed skirt because it's ugly, but it's lightweight, easy to move if we need to, and there's plenty of storage space underneath. The height is perfect, not too low, and not too high for an adult. So far it is silent and doesn't make any noise, but honestly this bed is for my 3 year old and he's not doing too much jumping or anything but sleeping in the bed.For the price point it's #1. We definitely considered a traditional bed set-up and I'm glad that we didn't waste the money. The cost of this smartbase bed was much cheaper than buying a regular bed and boxspring, even when I considered buying cheaper versions. A base like this means that you don't need a foundation, and it's ultimately one less thing to deal with.
Read this if you think YOUR HEADBOARD MAY NOT TOUCH THE GROUND
April 10, 2016
these work great, with the exception of the fact that if the headboard doesn't touch the ground or a wall .... DON'T LEAN BACK on it ! Cause it will bend the brackets and probably cause a problem with your screw holes stripping. I had to add a 1"x3" brace in the back, horizontally, to hold the headboard upright and steady.
Great for Plus Sized people
March 28, 2016
My husband and I bought this with high hopes, because we are both pretty overweight and would need something that could comfortably hold almost 600lbs together. He put it together by himself with no issues and I've slept on it every night since. We've had it for a little over a month now, and I'm sleeping great. It does have an occasional squeak here and there, but we expected this with our weight. Very happy with the purchase.
Excited to disappointed. Updated: 3/7/2016
February 21, 2016
Was really happy with how easy it was to assemble and how lightweight it is. However, less than 4 months in, one of the support beams has snapped off where it was connected to the frame. Nothing done except the usual getting in and out of bed. Only a memory foam mattress on top.Updated 3/7/2016Zinus customer service was very prompt and helpful with filing for my replacement. I received the replacement frame in a week after submitting all the documentation. Greatly appreciate the quick response!
A great bed frame for the price.
January 12, 2016
This is a great solution if you don't need a headboard, boxspring, etc. It's also great if you need to move it around, need only a temporary bed, need to haul it up a bunch of stairs or through tight quarters, etc. You can fold it up in about 10 seconds and it will take up hardly any space in a closet, behind a sofa, under another bed, or similar. It's reasonably well made, doesn't squeak, is plenty strong, and provides some "give" making any mattress more comfortable. It also lets the mattress completely breathe on the underside which some platform beds don't.This is ideal for use with an inexpensive foam or innerspring mattress. I'm using it with the Dreamfoam 9" Eurotop mattress DreamFoam Bedding Ultimate Dreams 9-Inch Crazy EuroTop mattress, Twin, X-Long and the combo is as comfortable as many beds and mattresses at 5+ times the price. As others have pointed out, the extra height makes the bed more comfortable for sitting and getting in and out of. It also provides a lot of storage underneath. The only negative is there's nothing to stop the mattress from sliding around on top of the frame. The DreamFoam mattress I'm using has a somewhat slippery covering on the bottom and it slides around fairly easily. If you put the bed in a corner up against the walls it's likely not a problem. If they would have made the frame with raised corners or side rails to secure the mattress it would add to the size of the frame folded. It's a trade-off but something to be aware of compared to more permanent beds. If you're going to leave it set up, and don't care about voiding your mattress warranty, you could probably use some nylon zip ties and small holes near the "cording" around the base of your mattress to anchor it to the frame if it bothers you.
It's pretty great. We have our 14" memory foam mattress ...
October 16, 2015
It's pretty great. We have our 14" memory foam mattress on it and it eliminated the need to buy a box spring. It doesn't move or squeak at all (we have it sitting on carpet) and it has enough height to storage our suitcases and extra storage bins under it. I'd recommend for sure. We bought a bedskirt to cover the frame and hidden storage.

Good enough with some noticeable issues
September 29, 2017
Does the job, but has issues one might need to consider. It's not a solid frame, so if you have a thin mattress, you will feel the mesh structure of metal supports when you sleep or sit.I tried to prevent this by cutting and laying on top, the card board box that the frame came in. Helps to a good extent. If it's a continuous piece of board it would be much better. If it's a thick mattress, you might not feel it. But I think the thin rods that support the mattress might cause it to tear eventually due to weight. Also, doesn't feel stable like a nice wooden bed, of course can't expect too much for the price. You can immediately notice that when you move a bit when sitting or sleeping. Also, you can't move the bed easily by yourself once you assemble it in some place. Usually one would hold it on one end and lift it or move it by lifting a bit in the centre. But this starts folding when you do it and so you would have to make sure everything is off the frame and then slowly and carefully move it in small steps.Even with all this, I think one can sleep well enough on this. And it can accommodate upto 3 people easily in my experience. I don't know about more than that. And the centre legs have a nice padding at the bottom which is really good. They are a bit outwards facing and I bumped by feet into them a lot of times. Without the padding my fingers would have been injured several times.
add some plywood boards under the frame-vast improvement
August 15, 2017
certainly is very portable and not pricy. The prices do seem to vary with peak purchasing times, such as college starting. But, for a foam mattress, it's not the worst thing to have. Better than the floor. I added about 35 dollar investment into making this frame work with by boxed bed. I cut some MDF "plywood" boards to fit each twin and I zipped tied them on there thru some predrilled holes. I cut the boards about 2 inchs narrower than the frame (both length and width) so I don't catch my knee or shin on the corners sticking out the ends. Adding the MDF vastly improved the sleeping quality of the mattress on this frame. While the "slats" (they are really wires, not huge gauge) are 4in apart, there is really little to no support on the wires causing the mattress to sag. I am not a big person, 5'5'' and 135, and the mattress was sagging thru the wires with me laying down. Thus, even with my weight distributed, the wires did little to preserve integrity of the mattress as it was intended to be used. The boards fixed this issue and it seems to be an adequate frame that is portable for the price, (minus a few zip ties lost on take down, and having to find a way to move some plywood) happy reading.
Ok frame but mattress slides off!
June 17, 2017
The frame itself if nice and sturdy. The trouble is that the mattress flies off of it. They should have put a 1 or 2 inch tall little holder on the edges so the mattress stays put. I wish the company would respond and tell me I am doing something wrong and there is a solution to this. Nowadays bamboo and other type of mattresses are very light. So the mattress when one sits on bed is sliding on this frame. I laid on it and it seems to be ok when I turn and stays put. But getting off of it and getting on it one will have to do it carefully. Wish it was engineered differently. I really do!
Originally great, but no staying power.
June 2, 2017
I bought this bed frame in November of 2014. I was originally pretty pleased with it, as it did what I needed it to do--namely, replace a broken futon frame. I did notice it begin to sag after a while, but as I'm 300lbs I expected that. However, in the last few weeks, two of the thin metal bars have snapped off of the larger support frame. I'm pretty sure this is due to the fact that I often sit on the edge of my bed, which puts a lot of strain on one particular part of the frame, rather than having my weight spread out entirely. My mattress did slide terribly the first few nights I had it, but I remedied this by using a large no-slip rug pad which I duct taped to the edges. It was a great solution, but one that shouldn't have been necessary. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the frame, but concerned about how long it's going to last. Fortunately the side of the bed I sit on isn't the side I sleep on, so I just need to stop sitting there. However, for me, a bed frame would have to work for sitting too, so this one is less than ideal.
Be ready to buy more
February 18, 2017
It's nice because it doesn't require a box spring, but they don't include the stops that most platforms include to prevent the mattress from sliding, and it WILL slide. Zinus doesn't seem to sell their headboards, floorboards, and rails separate from the platforms. So you have to buy it as a package the first time.
Set up was easy, took maybe 10 minutes
July 22, 2016
This is taller than our original bed frame. Set up was easy, took maybe 10 minutes. However, there are these bars that are angled which take up space and prevent from using that area. I guess I had high expectations. You can store more under here than the usual size bed frame but not much more. Especially not $75 worth more. If you have tubs that are taller than 12 inches, they most likely will not fit. Maybe if you have wooden floors. The shipping took a day longer but I expected that since it is a big package. I probably would have sent this back if it wasn't such a hassle to package and then take to the UPS since the closest one to me is about 15 minutes away. And I'm not sure if it would fit in my small car. If you're looking for a bed frame that gives you a little more room than the standard bed frames, this will work. But if you really want one for storage underneath, spend the extra money and get the 18 inch.

2400 lbs rating is a lie
November 5, 2016
This bed frame was pretty good at first but I have no idea where the "2400 lbs" rating comes from. I'm fat. I weigh about 360 lbs, and my ~80 pound dog sleeps on the same side of the bed as me so when you add in half the mattress weigh you might, at most, be talking about a combined 500 lbs or so. This "2400 lbs" bed frame couldn't stand up to that much weight. The crossbar on the middle support rods broke almost immediately, and I type this mere minutes after the crossbar on the end did the same. Both of them came apart at the welds. Neither time was there any impact on the frame, this most recent break happened while I was sitting upright in bed, with my dog at my feet, simply watching Netflix on my laptop. The bed frame is still usable but one side of it, the side that I sleep on, now shifts around in a way that makes me uncomfortable. I'll be buying a different frame, one that isn't rated for nearly as much weight but whose rating is hopefully at least accurate. If you're not obese this bed frame will probably work fine for you but if you, like me, came here hoping for a frame that could support your weight I suggest you look elsewhere.
Uncomfortable hump in the middle of the bed
July 7, 2016
We got this for our queen foam mattress in the guest room because we're renting and didn't want to buy a huge bedframe. It's easy to put together and convenient in that it folds, but unfortunately there's a super uncomfortable hump in the middle of the frame where the two sections meet. In the last 4 months we've had 3 people sleep on the bed, and ALL THREE have mentioned they can feel the hump in the middle protruding into the mattress! they have to sleep on only one side of the bed. (We have the 14" SmartBase Deluxe wired one, not the all-steel one.) Disappointing and we can't return because the time has passed. Thinking I can maybe lay some planks down to alleviate the hump, but we'll see...
8,000+ people must not have side rails on their bed
March 17, 2016
Construction - okAssembly - easyInstallation with side rails - nightmareIf your bed has side rails it has a lip to catch slats and/or a box spring. The legs on the corners of this frame are inset to accommodate this lip. Someone was really thinking when they inset these legs and then this person got drunk after taking a couple of ambien. The legs in the center of the frame are part of the center hinge and flush with the edge of the frame (i.e. Not inset). This means that you can't put it inside the rails. I had to take a chisel and cut out enough wood to accommodate this added width. Those who said their frame fit inside the rails must have had a nonexistent lip inside the rails.Mattress installation - easy the height of the frame is about 4-6" lower than with slats and box spring which is good because its its low enough to not really need a bed skirt (i.e. The fram sits below the top lip of the side rails).Comfort - I'm not sure yet but you must buy a non slip pad to go between the frame and mattress. If not the mattress dances around on the frame of because it is so slick. In my opinion just frame should come with some sort of pad.Pics to come I'm a little hot from my effort on what should have been a 10-15min job.
I'm having to replace this frame after less than a year of use
October 19, 2015
This bed was great at first. I purchased it on December 9, 2014. It arrived on time and well packaged; all the pieces were there and assembly was a breeze. My husband and I are plus size people and we loved the fact that this bed claimed to be heavy duty and would support up to 2,400 lbs. At first it was wonderful, my husband, our dog and I slept wonderfully, but started noticing squeaking after a few months - nothing loud or obnoxious, but a definitely noticeable noise when rolling to get comfortable or getting in and out of bed. The squeaking wasn't too large of a concern as we were still sleeping comfortably. When it came time for us to move in early September, we pulled our mattress off of the frame and noticed that the thinner wire supports had bent and cracked in places and had even torn the bottom of our memory foam mattress. We were able to straighten these wires and put our mattress back on it, but now less than a month later the entire side has warped and bent to the floor. We come nowhere near the 2,400 lb weight limit - we barely max out 500 and that's WITH our 90 lb dog sleeping with us. There is no reason that less than a year after my initial purchase I should have to be replacing this frame - yet here I am. These frames definitely do not stand up to the test of time.
incorrect width causes mattresses to hang off slightly
August 27, 2015
I've only just received this frame and will update my post accordingly but in concerns to the assembled product it is not the advertised dimensions, as the height nor width is accurate with the width measurement of 60" being a little over two inches SHORT of that dimension. I at first thought it could be because I could not get the two bases to align properly as the connector was at an angle when put through both bases, I assume one of the bases is the culprit, not both, as the height of 14" is off by atleast half an inch on one. But I have it as flush together as possible so that should not be taking away from the width. This problem is causing my mattress to hang off of the frame slightly which as is isn't a comfort issue but with no railings or lip to hold the mattress in place any sliding will cause the mattress to hang even further off which will then seem to pose a problem. I don't want to sleep on the floor so I will continue to use this while hoping to get in contact with the manufacturer as I don't believe reviewing a defective product is fair if this is not a correct interpretation of quality but worry what issues will arise with normal use because of the incorrect dimensions.
Great Platform Bed Frame... Kinda
July 17, 2014
**UPDATE** This thing is LOUD! I tried to WD-40 it to no avail. Nothing keeps this thing from squeaking. When my cat jumps on the bed it squeaks, so I know it's not just me! Unless they fix it I don't think I could recommend this frame. I contacted the seller and they said there's nothing they could do about it and just to deal with it. I was a bit shocked they didn't even want to TRY to rectify the issue. This bed frame is awesome, super light, easy to move (if you need it to) and very sturdy. I'm a bigger dude, and my fiancee and I are no match for this thing. The only issues are when it showed up, the box was pretty beat, and there were holes in the package. This isn't the sellers fault, it's the carriers but good information to have. There was a hole that was punched through the cardboard which cause a few bars to be slightly bent, but I bent them back without an issue. The other thing is that it's really squeaky! Not a little bit, but a lot a bit! I'm not talking about naughty time, I'm talking about all the time. Rolling over causes this thing to make soo much noise it's crazy! I still need to spray some WD40 on it to make it less noisy, but if that's the only issue I'll take it.

Good luck
May 31, 2017
Awful. Just awful. The entire mattress slips and slides off of this frame. The mattress will not stay in place and the entire things moves every time you go on or off of it. It's terrible. I bought this as well as the zinus mattress and I wish someone would have written an honest review. Not sure if all of the reviews are from zinus employees but it's been beyond a nightmare. Not to mention the price changes that continue to happen daily on their products with absolutely no help from Amazon. Run don't walk away from these products. I'm out close to $500 total and I won't see a dime of it back. Will have to go buy a traditional bed frame, box spring and mattress now.
This thing is super easy to set up and is a cheap solution ...
February 17, 2017
This thing is super easy to set up and is a cheap solution for a California king memory foam mattress. It does make a good bit of noise and broke after about 6 months. I shored it up with some brackets but the other leg broke off and the frame bent. If you plan on *moving around* on your bed get something more sturdy.
Reminds me of cot frame for camping.
November 11, 2016
Its a great concept but after only using it for 6 weeks, the new mattress we purchased to use with it now sags on each side. The additional support where the two pieces connect obviously doesn't have any give, but each side does. At the end of the day I now have a brand new mattress that sinks on each side with a lump down the center. Since I can't return this item (30 day policy which doesn't seem sufficient for this type of product) or even find a place to contact someone, this is my only avenue to let the seller know of my problem. I am now out the money for this 'foundation' because I can't use it for fear of ruining another mattress, the money for the new mattress we bought to go with it, and the cost of buying a new bed set to replace this mess.
Complete Junk , Buyer Beware
January 26, 2016
Well this POS Frame only lasted 5 months before the middle brace broke completely off. Cheap material and terrible welding is what caused this. Like always, you get what you pay for. All 4 welds Broke .... Complete Junk !
Well it's been 3 months now and it's squeaking worse than ever
September 13, 2015
I bought this bed for our Casper mattress and after the 1st month it started squeaking so we returned it and got another of the same bed, hoping it was just that defective one. Well it's been 3 months now and it's squeaking worse than ever. I hate it. I will never ever buy a bed like this again.
Sags after a few months in
May 20, 2015
UPDATE: A few months ago, we noticed that the bars have really started to sag. We orignially chalked it up to it being the mattress but it's not a thick memory foam mattress, so it can't be heavier than others. And we really do not weigh that much. I am 110 and my guys is around double me. I am a little disappointed that I keep having to replace this frame every year only to have it bend. This is my second one in the last two years. Very disappointing...
