April 12, 2017
For the price this works great. I'm 6'0 and 240lbs and it supports me fine in both hyperextentions and sit-ups. Doesn't rock or tip on me at all even with my weight. Not nearly as good as gym quality but for the price what do you expect.
Good price and well made, holds me up at 230lbs
October 29, 2016
I use this for back extensions, and its nice. I was looking for something different, but i thought i would give this a try because the price was right. I use it for back extensons and roman chair situps. Im 230 LBS and 6' and this unit is stable.
First class company, first rate equipment.
August 7, 2016
First class company, first rate equipment. I wrote quite a lengthy review about my personal experience with this company when I reviewed the Marcy Adjustable Utility Bench - SB510 (model number). In it I speak specifically about this companies virtues and ethics which are manifold. If you search the item I just named then you will be able to read the review I gave this company. Just one more completely unsolicited comment; if you buy from this company you will not be sorry you did.
Great workout for your mid-section and upper legs!
March 21, 2016
I've not used one of these since I was in college and this is just what I needed to fully work my mid-section, back, glutes, and legs! It is a bit awkward the first time you use it, but once you get the leg height adjusted properly, it really makes a great workout. Assembly took 20-25 minutes, and the materials and craftsmanship seem to be very good for home-equipment.I only wish the rear legs were a bit longer and as wide as the front, which would aid in balance for those of us who are taller, but it does exactly as it should!
Perfect...for the most part
January 4, 2013
I'm giving i a five because it arrived early, it was relatively easy to assemble, and my wife loves it. When researching the various models there were several complaints about this particular model in terms of packaging, loose and missing parts. I took a chance. The unit arrived well packed, however upon opening I found the same as had been noted by other buyers, There are A LOT of nuts, bots and washers which at one point had apparently been packed in a heat sealed package which after packing had speparated with the hardware spreading around inside the box, I realized that some pieces were missing...also a complaint from several purchasers, however found that as the pieces were free to fall where they may, some had gone inside dseveral of the hollow bars. After lots of shaking and diving for parts with an straightened coat hanger, they were all present, The directions for assembly give angled views of the completed product vs straight frt, rear and side views do it was difficult to get an idea of the finished product. So, a couple of bonehead quality issues obviously to save money, and the directions are written at 32nd grade level so dumbed down to the poingt of being useless. But...ultimately it is exactly what I was looking for and at a great price. Assembled it is a quality piece of workout equipment.
Excellent build, solid, great value
June 13, 2012
I got mine a few days ago. This is a very well made, good quality piece of equipment. Great solid components, everything fit, all the screws, bolts and washers were there. I think it is as good any I have been in professional gym, only a heck of a lot cheaper. I am 6'3" and weigh around 230lbs. No issues. As stable as anything. No parts missing, every bolt was easy to put in, holes all aligned well, etc. None of the issues that others have complained about. My only comment is that out of the box it smelled strongly of some kind of solvent, probably from the finishing process. My guess is that it was probably packed up minutes after the paint dried and since all parts are packed individually in plastic bags the smell stays with it. After two days in the garage the smell has pretty much gone away, but I'll wait a few more days before I move it into my gym to make sure it has gassed out completely. To summarize, spectacular value and a great build. Pleasantly surprised.

Good unit for back extension
July 15, 2016
This unit does the job. The quality is sturdy and it's easy to assembly. Saw a number of reviews where people complained about the directs but I didn't find them really bad. The directions could be better but not difficult. My complaint is more about the design, I found it a bit short, even though 6 foot reviewers stated the length fit them. I'm only 5'5" and the rollers hit me too far up on my calf, causing cramping. The ones at the gym are slightly longer with the rollers hitting at my ankles. The price can't be beat
Decent for the price.
March 12, 2016
Not bad, it does what it is supposed to but it would be nice to have a weight plate at the back end to hold it down. I am 260lbs, chest heavy and it the back end rocks up a bit when I do full extensions. I weighted down the back so that I can carry weight on my chest and use leg weights to offset the balance. It is built well and most people aren't as big as me which is why I am giving it 4 instead of 3. It is sturdy and if you are willing to make it work it will work for you as well. Well built piece of equipment, just out of balance a bit.
Good and serves it's purpose
November 4, 2015
I'm bigger guy, would have liked to see more padding but doesn't tip, not defective, does what it's supposed to. I will note that heavier men (persons) should not concern over tipping which is common for some brands. The reason for four stars as I would like to see more padding. My wife is not as durable as I and she mentioned discomfort after final sets...so for women or men with sensitive skin , use a towel as extra padding or spend more money for thicker padding. I'm happy
CAUTION: 200 pound MAX
May 9, 2014
The chair arrived today. I opened the box and every thing was there and well packed. All the bolts were in great shape and assembly took about 30 minutes. I used simple tools on purpose and even with an adjustable wrench and pliers, I was able to assemble this thing in short order. Here is my one complaint. Nowhere have I read to find the max weight limit. It is not in the instructions, nor is it on the description with Amazon. Get on the ball Amazon. After a thorough examination of the box I found a small caution block with real fine print stating the max recommended weight is 200 pounds. This could limit it's usefulness by big guys trying to turn their pony keg back into a six pack. I am 65 pounds lighter this year at 245, so I will use this chair with caution. My concern is the wood board inside the seat. I have to make sure I am dead on center and minimize side movement for now. The steel frame is more than strong enough to handle my weight, but if I were my original 310 a year ago, this chair would be unusable. A larger steel plate under the seat would go a long way in strengthening the seat 1/8" or 3/16" thick plate under the seat and slightly longer bolts and this would be a great tool. I am going to fabricate a plate and get some longer bolts and it should be fine. A recommendation to the manufacture is to supply locking washers the help keep the bolts secure. Other than these issues, this a good piece of equipment for non-professional use.
I forgot how tough this is!
January 29, 2014
This is a solid item. I assembled it myself, and it didn't take very long. Why four stars? Because there wasn't a tool included to tighten every bolt. I was able to dig through my tools and find what I needed, but that's not the point. All other "some assembly required" items include all the tools (not just an Allen wrench that was only needed for 4 out of 20+ bolts). Also, I can't figure out how to completely tighten the two long bolts. I'll have to come up with something, maybe a couple replacement nuts. Other than that... I forgot how tough this is to do! And I forgot some of the exercises I could do. I wish a sample exercise chart had been included, but I'm sure I can look up a few things online. I'm still glad I bought it because a strong core is key to everything. And this will do the trick.
Good quality, seat crushes gonads
May 7, 2013
Nice quality piece of equipment for the price. Took me about a 1/2 hour to assemble just by looking at the photos. I like it a lot except for the seat which really needs a cutout in the middle section as all that weight on a male's privates is very uncomfortable (but still useable). If you're a bit out of shape getting off may be a challenge as you have to reach back a bit and pull yourself back and up to dismount. You could have a chair or something next to it to push up on to help dismount though.Btw - it is possible to use this to do dips with though you have to bend your knees. To use it for dips, stand between the arms facing the rear and do some dips. Its a bit awkward but does allow another type of exercise!

Only good for one exercise.
April 24, 2017
I got this to help with ab/back strengthening. I like it, but yet it's kinda a big item and takes up room in my bedroom. I can't fit it in my exercise room. Sadly I will be trying to sell it off, cheap, as I don't use it as much as I thought I would. It really only is good for one exercise.
Sturdy equipment but missing parts
January 13, 2017
Sturdy equipment but the pad can be uncomfortable for your groin. Upon arrival the rear post was missing in the package and impex needed to be contacted. The piece was shipped quickly and arrived on the 3rd business day. Overall, I think this is a good value for the price. But impex/Marcy needs to do a better job at making sure their products are shipped with all the components as I've seen many other reviews where other components were missing.
I find this one a bit uncomfortable and difficult when comparing it to one I really like. Having said that
December 15, 2016
For the money you can't beat it. However, what I neglected to look forward was a bench where the padding part was on more of a slant - it makes a HUGE difference on your legs. With this one, both my daughter and myself sort of hurt the top of our legs because of where they land when we use the bench. Also, There should be a spot nearly the bottom underneath the pads where your feet go so that you can rest your feet on the bottom board. Silly as it sounds, I find this one a bit uncomfortable and difficult when comparing it to one I really like. Having said that, as I stated above, for the money, you really can't beat it.
Ok For the Price, but One Crucial Part Was Deformed.
May 29, 2014
It does what it is supposed to do and was substantially less expensive than the next nearest competing product. Unfortunately the middle support beam (supporting where your body weight goes) is bent to a 5-6 degree angle. This makes for quite a sliding/leaning motion unless I put my body more to one side. I've figured out a way to work-around it, and haven't contacted the seller regarding the bent piece...is it worth the hassle of shipping the old part back if I can "use" it as needed...who knows. Either way, I didn't expect this solid piece of metal to be that deformed out of the box. I also wish the pad had a bit more padding as it makes for quite an uncomforable workout if you don't get in just the right position.
Painful to the groin. Needed to make the seat with a gap.
November 12, 2012
I have used many of these types of Roman Chairs over the decades of going to various gyms across the globe. While the price was right, and assembly was about an hour (would have been faster if they had stickers on the parts with Letters and matching them to the instructions. And more illustrations step by step in the instructions instead of just one exploded diagram only. The main issue I have is that the seat cushion is thin. And there is no gap in the groin area. If they had designed it with a U shape, and added thicker padding. This could potentially be a 5 star product at this price.I'm going to have to come up with a pillow or some other way of making this usable.A situp board or other way of making this a combo situp/roman would make it a 10 star product. But now I'm asking too much probably.
Great Lower Back
June 21, 2011
Update 07/14/2012I had this for about 8 months and then sold it on craigs list. It was solid in construction all the way through. I personally preferred a 45 degree roman hyperextension like they have at the gym. It offered me less stress on my lower back and I can do more exercises on it. This design is sort of clumsy and uncomfortable. It was pretty cheap, but I'd recommend getting a slanted one for a little bit more.-------------------------------------This Roman Hyperextension was a great deal for what it cost. I use it all the time and I feel you get a way better movement on your lower back than the lateral hyperextensions at the gym. Its easy to assemble, you just need a ratchet or wrench to tighten some bolts. You can do abs and back and more. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get in shape around the waist.

Weak Cushion base
July 20, 2016
The base of the cushion is made of wood. Almost like particle board, the corner broke on me when I put pressure on it instead of the handles. Didn't feel solid, but still got a workout.
The delivery and service was great but the chair itself did not work for me
August 26, 2015
The delivery and service was great but the chair itself did not work for me. I'm 5'8" and it was totally uncomfortable to use. It is well built but I gave it away. I think if you are 6' or taller it will be fine.
Not good for tall people.
July 13, 2015
If you are a tall person this is not for you. I am 5'11" and my hips hit at the wrong place. I returned it. On the plus size - this is durable, sturdy piece of equipment.
Not wish sturdy enough for my frame
June 17, 2015
EhhhIt started creeking after I put it together. The frame was OK but the part you actually sit on, kept making noise like it was gonna crack.
It is a pretty short distance from between the two uprights
February 22, 2015
The handles are not adjustable as the box says. It is a pretty short distance from between the two uprights, so if you're 6ft or so, it seems too short and you will likely end up squishing your boys on the hip support.
Uncomfortable to use. practically no adjustability, but solidly built
August 24, 2013
Complete Disappointment; I still need to keep my health club membership and use the roman extension benches there.Although initially I was impressed with how solidly built this is once it's assembled, I quickly found it's pretty much designed for quite tall people only - there's no adjustability for the (very high at 32.5 inches from the ground) pelvic support - I'm 5'9", and have to get a small step get high enough to place my pelvis correctly on the hip pad - If the hip pad was narrower, and had a way to adjust it's height and angle, then that would help.I have chronic lower back problems (herniations and vertebral fractures) and I've been using such devices almost daily in my health clubs for 12 years - all of these devices have adjustments for the hips, angled hip pads, and I have no problem using them once they're properly adjusted.I've tried this one 15 times now, and find the necessity of "hopping" up onto it, and "scootching/wriggling" to get myself placed with my body hanging unsupported over the end VERY uncomfortable! The hip pad is so wide that to pace the "upper" edge properly under my hips, the "lower" edge digs unpleasantly into my thighs. If the angle could be adjusted that would be a less important concern. Padding on the ankle rods is too thin, after only 15 uses, the foam is compressed down to where I needed to duct tape a small pillow to provide padding to the backs of my ankles.I see in another review where someone has added pipes to the hand supports to give better upper body support while wriggling around trying to find a "sweet spot" to use it without discomfort, and I'll try that next.In all honesty I'd like to return it, but finding a sturdy box it would fit into and shipping it is more trouble than the item is worth.Ankle rods need better padding and easier adjustment.MAIN PROBLEMS;Hip pad needs to be height adjustable - it's permanently set to be too high for anyone much under 6 ft 1 in.Hip pad is too wide.Hip pad needs to be angle adjustable - digs into upper thighs.Hand support rods too short - should be 12-15 inches longer to provide real upper-body support while placing hips.Foam on ankle rods too thin and easily compressed.

Missing hardwhare
March 27, 2017
Missing 75 to 80 percent of the hardwhare needed for assembly.
The "pad" has the padded part facing away from where you put your body weight so were all your weight actually falls is on about
March 17, 2017
This machine is not functional. At first I thought it would not work for me because I am too tall but then I had my friend try it who is 5 foot 2 and she was also unable to use it. The "pad" has the padded part facing away from where you put your body weight so were all your weight actually falls is on about half an inch at of padding at best and you feel the hard plywood digging into your thighs. Unless your over 5 feet tall like me and then it pretty much digs into your knees. To give you a good visual of how ridiculously small the space is between the square pad and the circular pads, if I stand with my feet together facing the side of the machine my legs don't fit between the pads. This is the first bad review I have ever left on Amazon and its the first time I will ever have to return anything that I bought online. It is really hard to make me an unsatisfied customer I am not picky but if somthing dose not even work at all and I can't even give it away then I got to say somthing.

Broke mid use and could have caused injury
December 24, 2015
This looked nice and I worked out on it maybe a dozen times and then the pad where you would have your stomach or butt just snapped like it was made out of partial board while I was mid sit-up . This is a fixed part so could not have been caused by incorrect assembly. I went to try to return it after about 45 days from purchase (using 2-3 times/ week) but I am outside of the 30 day return window so now I am stuck with this broken piece of equipment
Cheap, under-engineered death trap.
July 2, 2015
This item came promptly, the box was only marginally beat up, and the assembly instructions - though sparse - were straightforward and easy to follow. These are the only good points I can mention about this horrible buying experience, and none of them have anything to do with the ridiculously dangerous product itself.Performing back hyperextensions or (even worse) GHD situps and crunches on a machine that is several feet tall puts the body in a compromised position, the safety of which is almost entirely contingent upon the stability of the leg braces. Imagine performing a situp on this machine, reaching full extension, and watching helplessly as the entire leg-brace apparatus simply slips entirely off of the machine itself. This is what happened to me, on the second repetition of the first set of crunches I tried on this ridiculous piece of equipment. If one is lucky, and is able to level the torso during the resultant fall, then instead of a broken neck, one merely has to deal with landing forcefully on the lower back upon the angry metal corners of the machine's base. This (thank God), is - again - what happened to me.Here is the problem. Please inspect the attached photo of the spin-locking bolt that secures the leg apparatus in place, in one of several adjustable positions. Notice especially the thin, smooth metal portion of the device, below the threaded portion. This smooth metal portion - which is approximately 1/4 of an inch long, is ALL that actually secures the leg-brace apparatus to the machine itself. The threaded portion merely secures the spin-locking bolt to the sliding leg apparatus -- the complete, sliding apparatus itself is only secured to the machine by the asinine 1/4" sliver of metal at the end. While this may not result in catastrophe if one is very light and/or does not apply much upward force to the leg apparatus during exercise, I certainly wouldn't risk my life on it. For those of us weighing in at 200lbs or more? Stay far, far away from this criminally unsafe piece of equipment. For my troubles (and desire to save a couple hundred dollars), I received only a painful fall and nasty bruise covering my lower back. Will you be so lucky? Extreme caution advised.
Slightly disappointed
January 28, 2015
The bracket that connects the seat to the brace that comes from the base was not compatible. The screw holes did not line up. Found a way to make it work but it's not the most safe way possible. I'm still able to use the piece but very cautiously.
