Five Star Reviews: | 75% Very gentle, mild, pleasant fragrance. February 9, 2017 This is a great product. My little one has thyroid problems and her skin is extremely dry and sensitive and this soap has been so gentle with no irritation, at all. Best Shampoo Ever January 25, 2016 It's great soap. Try it for shampoo. No other shampoo I've ever used is as good. It has a rich lather, and I like the clean smell, without any added perfumes. I get very clean from this. My whole family likes it. My only complaint is that now in the winter months when my skin is so dry, I wish it did not dry out my hands when I was with it. For the winter I need a more emollient soap, otherwise my hands get red and cracked. None the less it's a favorite soap, especially for shampoo. It's pure soap, not soap with unnecessary additives. We have been buying it for years. Wonderful Castile Bar Soap November 24, 2015 This is the only bar soap we use. We look for natural products that are safe to the environment and our personal lives. We also want to keep our products to a minimum in ingredients. Castile soap is great for keeping down mildew in your bathroom/shower which was another reason we switched to Castile over the other bar soaps. We tried some others that were quite costly but found Kirk's to be very affordable. We order these over and over. Even my picky husband likes them :) DIY Hypoallergenic Dog Shampoo November 22, 2015 I used these bars to create hypoallergenic dog shampoo. I cut them into tony pieces and bowled them in water to create a concentrated formula. Mixed with a few drops of dog-safe essential oil, it's a great moisturizing shampoo that smells great and is much cheaper than typical dog shampoos. I'd highly recommend it. I might try and use this as a body wash too!! Lather great! Man-made chemicals make my skin itch. April 8, 2015 Man-made fragrances and chemicals make my skin itch badly, especially in winter. Before I discovered Kirk's, I used Dove sensitive in the shower. To me Kirk's smells better, produces better lather, and most importantly makes me itch less.I use Dr. Bronner's in foaming dispensers for hand soap at all of my sinks, but a bar of Kirk's is much easier to use in the shower than a foaming dispenser. Wonderful multi-purpose soap October 12, 2013 I love this soap. I have used it for my face, my body, and once even on my hair. I was on a rustic camping trip and forgot shampoo. I really needed to wash my hair, so I figured it may make it feel gross but at least it would be clean. To my shock, it lathered wonderfully and my hair felt great after it dried! I was tempted to use it when I returned home but decided against it in case it would build up over time. It has a pleasant smell, but not a perfume smell. Personally I like the smell of traditional liquid castile soap, but I know everyone doesn't. This does not have that same smell, just sort of neutral actually. It feels smooth in my hands when I am lathering up (which it does lather very nicely on skin in addition to hair), and it leaves my skin feeling clean without being oily or dry. My kids are grown, so I can't say if it would be good on the skin of babies or small children. However with its natural ingredients, unless your child has very sensitive skin, I would think it would work nicely and you could use it from head to toe, making bathtime less hectic. Maybe try it on a small spot first to see how they react. I bought this first in a gift shop and couldn't locate it elsewhere, so I was so happy when I saw it on Amazon. | 82% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% Great alternative to Dr January 24, 2017 Great alternative to Dr.Bronners soap. It's less expensive than Dr. Bronners and seems just as good to me, although I do have to say it doesn't last as long, but with that said...it's still less expensive. I look for deal to try and get a bar for under two bucks a piece and when I do find a good deal I'll buy a cpl of dozen to stay stocked up. It seems if you take the soap out of the wrapper it comes in and store it that way the bars become harder and last a bit longer. I loved this soap November 11, 2016 I loved this soap. I have keratosis pilaris and I feel that it improved the look of my skin. My husband said it reminds him of hotel soap :( and it does leave your skin slightly slippery. I would buy it again but my hubby is a dove kinda guy Good basic soap September 24, 2016 Nice soap. Seems mild and doesn't smell like a teenage girl's bedroom. Kirk's castile equals quality castile August 9, 2016 This product is exactly what I thought it would be. My fault for not paying attention to the shipping charges. I paid almost as much in shipping as I did for the product. Kirk's soaps are high quality soaps and are perfect for the DIY soap makers! Bought for a friend. No complaints. March 13, 2014 I bought this for a friend and never heard any complaints from them about it. They were very specific about this type of soap too, so it must fit some pretty specific needs. "Coconut" is the same as "Original" January 13, 2013 Amazon is currently listing three versions of this soap. In reality I believe there are only two (original and fragrance free). And the original, also listed as "Coconut" by Amazon, smells nothing like coconut to me. The fragrance is more like just a sort of soap smell. I ordered all three because I thought there were actually three scents. I know coconut is the main ingredient, just saying to me it doesn't have much of a coconut smell. The soap is pretty good I guess. Lathers up a lot, and rinses off easily like everyone else said. I was previously using Dove for men, but trying this for a while because I think I may have a soap allergy. Not sure yet which one I like better. I definitely prefer the smell of Dove "Extra Fresh" better. I suspect most people buy this soap because it's natural or because of an allergy to soap, so I doubt that's a useful comparison. Mainly I just want to mention that there seem to be only two versions of this soap, not three. | 9% There are no reviews yet |

I'd recommend if you want a basic soap but there are better ones for cheaper. Worked for what I needed it for April 15, 2015 Works okay for my handcrafted laundry soap. I've since started making my own but if you don't make soap then this is one of the better commercial "soaps" you can buy. learning from experience November 30, 2014 I gave it three stars because it reminds me of ivory soap or those samples you get in hotels and such. It really cleans and takes the oil off the skin so if try to slide your hands on your skin or body, your hands grip and stick to your skin. I don't like that feeling and i'm more use to moisturizing soaps. Its winter and i find this soap is making my skin more itchy now and i had to switch to another soap.So if you like ivory soap this is for you, if not, look for something else, i'll be trying another brand of castile soap and see if that gives me better results. Good, but very drying July 17, 2014 I had high hopes for this soap. It lathered and cleaned well, but for me, my skin was so dry afterwards, I had to really lay on the lotion. For someone with oily skin, this soap would be great. I switched back to my Grandma's Lye Soap | 4% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% This soap smells pretty good, but I overall I just don't like ... August 27, 2016 This soap smells pretty good, but I overall I just don't like it. It left an awful film on my skin, and actually kind of burned when I used it. Maybe my skin is too sensitive for it. The product is not a bad one, just not right for me. It would probably work good as a laundry soap. Small bars July 21, 2016 The soap itself is very good, but the bars are pretty small in comparison to other bars of natural soaps. It used to be great but it's not now August 24, 2014 Great soap. The bars are large, and still have that great mild citrus-like scent which is so nice. Get the bars instead of the pump bottle, which is not quite like the original, and therefore not as pleasant as the bars still are. Great product.Update: this formerly great soap has changed,to a "don't bother to buy it. ". It was gentle, now it is harsh. Coconut oil? If it's used at all,it must be in fractional qualities. And the scent,or should I say stink,in no way resembles the original, which was so pleasant. In short, the present product resembles the original in name only. Not recommended for anyone. | 2% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 6% Use to be an amazing soap, but would not ever buy again for use on skin. May 4, 2017 I would have honestly given this product two stars, for the lather and clean sensation the morning after. I give it one star due to the horrible discomfort I have experienced from its use; I use to love this when my grandmother introduced to my family a few years ago, I found it again and thought that it was a great soap from the first time we used this product, but something has majorly changed in its production. In detail of the extreme dryness it causes for your skin, my skin feels like its been dried out by a pool with a extremely high concentration of chlorine plus my skin feels as if it is cracking with a horrible burning sensation. Something is definitely off with the soaps ingredients now. The burn it left on my private parts was worse than childbirth November 23, 2015 Worst pain I have ever been in, how in the world this can be considered hypoallergenic and for sensitive skin is beyond me.We are on vacation and we forgot to bring a bar of soap, so we stopped at the store, and I saw this soap, the price was decent, and the product description sounded great. How can you go wrong with hypoallergenic coconut oil soap?I don't know what all is in this soap, but I am being honest when I say the pain on my private parts was worse than childbirth. This soap literally left me with burning skin all over, a white residue all over my skin, and it felt like I suffered a chemical burn on my private parts. It has now been 3 hours since I showered and I am paranoid to try to go pee, as the first time I tried after the shower, I started screaming in pain and my husband (Tornado Dad) came running in seeing if I needed help. I literally could not pee, it was like lighting myself on fire. I had to slather myself with diaper cream before I could continue. I am sorry to be so graphic, but I have never experienced anything like this in my life.My hands are now dry as a bone, and my skin on my arms and legs is also burning and slightly itchy.I read some of the other reviews and other people have had this reaction as well.If this is the new fragrance causing this, it makes me wonder what the heck is in the fragrance? And why would sensitive skin soap even have fragrance? There is something seriously caustic in this soap. God forbid you use this on a child. Thank God I used this before I let my 6 year old use it. Ingredient change September 25, 2015 Kirk's castile soap used to be more of a natural soap but there has been an ingredient change. I went to the store the other day and noticed that the ingredients are no longer coconut soap, water, vegetable glycerin, coconut oil and natural fragrance. I don't see how they can even call the soap castile anymore because it no longer has coconut oil or anything natural in the soap as i recall. Just a warning but possibly they are selling some of the old formula online. I managed to find at least two 3 packs in the store but the old formula is getting harder to find, moving on to something else more natural. Allergic Reaction January 29, 2014 I've bought this soap before and used with no problems. However the last batch was very harsh. I bought a set of 3 in December and used it along with some other bars of soap, not realizing it was the culprit causing me to develop raised welts and a rash on my neck chest, arms and belly. (at first, I thought my problems were caused by our cedar Christmas tree, or a wool scarf, or some new lotion I was using) Anyway, I had itchy, raised bumps that turned into dry scaly patches. NOT fun. I stopped using the soap and all of the symptoms have gradually gone away. Oh no... just, no, no, no... March 2, 2013 For general reference, I don't have sensitive skin.Long-story short, just about the same stuff that other reviewers who had a bad experience with this soap. Although it lathers really well in hard water, it left a filmy, chalky residue on my skin that was noticeable immediately after using it. I continued to use it thinking that perhaps my skin was too accustomed to "processed" soaps and needed to get used to "natural" ingredients, but oh, no... Within a week of using it, my skin was incredibly dry and itchy: arms, legs, back, shoulders and my hands...dear lord, my hands looked like they had aged 10 years, they were so dry and wrinkly! Then again, probably the worst part was the stinging when I shaved my legs -- I always use soap for shaving and had never had this happen with any other soap I've used.My advice, if you still want to try this soap -- buy a single bar, not a pack or in bulk. | 3% There are no reviews yet |
