Five Star Reviews: | 76% I was happy mostly just using water and baking soda but the ... May 25, 2016 I just recently jumped on the organic bandwagon because I needed to detox heavily from Candida. I only heard of Dr. Bronners which seemed a bit expensive to me. I was happy mostly just using water and baking soda but the family wanted lathery soap. I was shocked when I saw the ingredients and even more so when I saw how well it lathers. I have since turned quite a few moms of newborns onto this as well as people with psoriasis and eczema. I was hoping to be able to useit on my hair as well, but that ended in a disaster, it was definitely leaving the hair matted. I am a huge fan and will definitely be buying again. I found a soap worth giving up my home made for! April 22, 2016 Best natural soap out there. I usually make my own, but this one is so good I may stop. I like the natural ingredients that have been used in this soap for so many years. They have not changed it and that's why I love it. All Natural Lather! May 8, 2015 I have been struggling for years with dry flaky skin. I tried body washes, moisturizing soap, lotions...you name it! I tried this soap on a whim after trying an all natural shampoo and I absolutely LOVE it. My husband was dubious, but he tried it and now he loves it. I have thrown away all other soaps. This stuff is just amazing! Rich, thick later, but rinses so clean without residue. I wondered if I could make liquid soap to have at the sink instead of a bar, so I finely grated one bar and melted into 1 gallon of boiling distilled water. I now have a wonderful "foaming" hand soap at the sink. I just used an old foaming soap dispenser. Talk about lather!!! And no messy bar at the sink. I plan to try to make body wash soon. HOLY LATHER!!! November 18, 2014 I have heard nothing but great things about this soap but had no idea what I was in for. I initially got it for washing my beard. I am a pretentious shaver and take my shaving seriously, but being a Minnesotan, I decided to spend the last 4 months of this year being a pretentious beardsman. Using this soap I instantly got creamy pillows of lather as soon as I touched my beard. I was blown away. I decided that I would use it on the rest of my body. It has a smell that I can only explain as "what soap smells like". I am only 35 and grew up on bar soap and then in my adult life I have been using shower gels. They small good and all, but this stuff makes you feel amazing. I will be buying more in the future, but I think I will be purchasing it from Walgreens from now on since I can get it for half as much. I have use this soap for 36 years. Excellent Product May 8, 2013 I started with Kirks in 1973 when a friend gave me a bar. I have used it ever since. This is perfect for me to use a bath, shampoo and hand washing. It is getting harder to find.....thanks for coming thru with this fine product.... | 76% No allergic symptoms. YAY! September 30, 2017 Love this. Excellent cleaner, works great in Samsung HE washer. I use this to dilute Zum Frankincense and Myrrh laundry soap to lighten the Zum scent, which I love but is way too powerful for me. I only use 2 caps of the Zum mixed with this whole bottle and it's awesome. Just right, and the very expensive Zum lasts forever this way. Nice gentle soap August 30, 2017 This is a gentle soap. I use it on excoriated areas from a dermatitis. It doesn't burn and it keeps the skin softened. I remember when I was young we used castile soap to bathe babies. I had forgotten about it until I saw it on Amazon. I immediately ordered some and I'm loving it. Love it. May 16, 2017 I am using this soap to create homemade facial cleanser. So far I only made one and I like it a lot. The quality of the soap is good. It lathers quite nicely even after mixing it with other oil-based ingredients. Very satisfied with the purchase. Will continue to experiment to create perfect face and body washes. House hold staple March 28, 2017 Can't go wrong with Castile soap so many uses. This purchase was for liquid laundry detergent among other uses that arise. Wonderful quality castile soap February 16, 2016 I love castile soap and have been using it for years alone and as an ingredient in my homemade cleaning products, shampoos and more. I made all purpose cleaners using castile soap, poured them in amber colored glass bottles and gave them to my loved ones at Christmas-they loved them. I have tried many different brands of castile soap over the years and this one is definitely one of my new favorites. It has quality, organic ingredients and is free of artificial chemicals, colors and fragrances, which is how I like it. I diluted it to one part castile soap to four parts water, added a couple drops of tea tree and lavender essential oils for antibacterial properties, added fragrance and poured it in my foaming hand soap dispenser. It worked great and I was able to see the quality of this castile soap for myself. It is very gentle on skin, yet is very effective at cleaning hands, face and body. It makes my skin feel super soft-you can even shave with it.For the all purpose cleaners that I made, I poured 1 cup water, 2 tsp. castile soap, 8 drops of tea tree essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 5 drops of lemon essential oil in my glass bottles and shook. I found a better recipe that I'm going to try:Ingredients•1 tsp borax•1/2 tsp washing soda•1 tsp liquid castille soap•Essential oils as preferred- I use 4 drops lemon, 4 drops lavender and 10 drops orangeInstructions1.Place borax, washing soda and soap in a spray bottle (preferably glass).2.Add 2 cups of warm water. Distilled is best, but any water that has been boiled will work. Cover bottle and shake well. Use as needed. I use as bathroom cleaner, floor pre-treater, kitchen cleaner and on toys to disinfectThis product also comes with wonderful customer service - very friendly and fast.Castile soap has many great benefits and uses. I researched and highlighted some of its great benefits below:I never knew what “castile” was until I started using the stuff, but the moniker just describes a style of soap, not a brand. Think tissue, not Kleenex. Castile means that it’s made from 100 percent plant oils (no animal products like tallow, which show up in most commercial soaps). It’s also a true soap, not a chemical detergent, making castile soap completely biodegradable and very earth-friendly.What follows is a list of ways to incorporate this cheap, environmentally awesome ingredient into your daily life. Denver plumbing company Quality First Plumbing recommends hot water and castile soap as an all-purpose household cleaner. And don’t forget, you can add various essential oil herbal infusions to each of these recipes, to customize and diversify your castile soaping experience. Maybe you like orange blossom to clean your tile flooring, and peppermint on your dishes. Lot’s of people prefer lemon in the bathroom, and I love lavender in my laundry. And each oil or herb will confer its own properties. For example, eucalyptus is an antimicrobial, and chamomile is a relaxant. The possibilities are endless and it’s oh-so fun to experiment!1. Shampoo: Use castile soap as a stand-in for a harsh detergent-based shampoo. Give your head a break! Just mix castile soap with water at a ratio of 1:3.2. Laundry Detergent: You can make your own laundry detergent with simple, common ingredients. Save tons money and do the environment a friendly favor. It’s a win-win!Recipe:-1 1/4 cups white vinegar-1 cup baking soda-1 cup washing soda-available in the laundry supplies section of your local supermarket or drugstore-1 cup borax-1/4 cup liquid castile soapMix in a large, non-metal bowl. I re-used (and decorated!) my previous soap tub, which worked great. Start with the vinegar and continuously stir as you add each powder. Try to stir out and break up any clumps. Finish with the liquid soap. It will seem wet, like a thick paste, but keep stirring and it will begin to flake and crumble into a moist ‘powdered detergent’. KEEP STIRRING! If you quit too early, you’ll find a very hard mass the next time you go to use it. So use them biceps and stir it to completion. You’ll end up with a sort of soft clumpy cake-y ‘loaf’, that will easily crumble off for use.If you use non-scented castile soap, you may add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.Store in a lidded container and use about 1/4 cup per load.3. Tub Scrub: Make a tile or toilet “soft scrub” out of baking soda and castile soap. Simply fill a spray bottle with a dilution of 1:3 castile to water. Sprinkling the area you wish to clean with a liberal dusting of baking soda, then spray the castile solution over the top. Scour with a sponge or scrub brush and watch the stains disappear. This also works great on crusty stovetops!4. Mopping Solution: Use 2 or 3 tablespoons of castile soap in a full bucket of water, and mop mop mop your floors to a sparkly new luster.5. Dish Soap: Make a dishwashing soap (for hand washing) or a liquid hand soap (for washing hands) by simply mixing a 1:1 ratio of castile to water.6. Dishwasher Detergent: Make a fancier DIY liquid dishwasher detergent that’s inexpensive and eco-friendly.7. Soap Dispenser Refill: You can refill your foaming hand soap dispenser with 1 part castile soap to 4 parts water.8. Body Wash: You can use castile soap as a gentle yet efficient bath soap/body wash. They actually sell castile bar soap, but if you want to use the liquid just dilute it in a 2:1 ratio of castile to water.9. Dog Shampoo: What’s good enough for you is even better for your pet! Use the same ratio listed above for an awesome DIY doggie shampoo.10. Toothpaste: You can actually use castile soap in place of your toothpaste, and pure soap is much better for your teeth than the nasty chemicals they put in most commercial pastes. Just add a few drops directly to your wet brush. It works wonders, although the flavor can take some getting used to!11. Veggie Wash: Make a simple veggie wash for cleansing all your produce. Add 1 tablespoon castile soap to 2 cups of water, and keep the mixture in a squirt bottle near the kitchen sink.12. Carpet Cleaner: Finally, you can make an effective carpet cleaner by mixing 1/4 cup castile into 1 cup water. Place the solution in the blender and let it fly until it forms a stiff foam. Apply as you would any other carpet cleaning productThis HealthMarket castile soap is a great, high quality product with many wonderful uses and benefits. Very satisfied and highly recommended! Wonderful Soap August 1, 2013 I use it as a shampoo - Very Good and pleasant Soap - The best shampoo that I have used. - Make sure it doesn't get in your eyes - |
Four Star Reviews: | 11% It's still very good, but not quite the same as I remembered ... May 14, 2017 they seem to have changed the formula for the soap. It's still very good, but not quite the same as I remembered it. Great to Use in Homemade Laundry Detergent June 6, 2016 I use this soap to make my own laundry detergent. It is very soft, so I had to cut it by hand with a knife (I usually put chunks into the food processor, but this soap would just "cream" up). Makes my clothes come out soft and smelling fresh. The bars lather fine and last a long time March 3, 2016 I bought this soap because I don't want to spend a lot of money on something I use so frequently and don't want a lot of chemicals or odors in my soap. I am scent and chemically sensitive and find this soap meets my needs. Initially it smells "soapy" but that goes away. That is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. The bars lather fine and last a long time. I will purchase again. Like it...don't love it May 8, 2015 Love the fact that it lathers as that was driving me crazy with other soaps. However, I don't like the fact that it smells like nothing. I thought I would smell a hint of coconut at least. I find I want to follow-up with something that has a fragrance. | 12% Was trying to make my own hand soap with this ... June 16, 2017 Was trying to make my own hand soap with this. It is ok but very thin and squirts all over. In the process of finding recipes for it. The soap exfoliate my skin and leaves it so clean ... May 4, 2017 The soap exfoliate my skin and leaves it so clean and fresh without the fragrances to irritate my skin. I'm very please with the results and I will continue to purchase this product. great alternative. July 12, 2015 I use this instead of harsh face washes and I love it. So nice to have an alternative to all of the harsh face and body care we have out in the market today. I use coconut oil, honey and this and it removes any make up and keeps my face feeling fresh and clean and doesn't dry my skin out. I use it on my hair from time to time as well. Could be a little stronger. April 22, 2015 This is a really mild cleaner. Not very concentrated. It would be great for gentle skin cleanser or baby. |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% Careful ladies January 11, 2017 I like this soap ok. There's no fragrance and it lathers well but it's a bit harsh on lower lady parts. Decent Soap May 18, 2016 I bought this soap because most bath soaps leave a heavy soap scum in the shower. From what I have read, this castile soap does not have some of the compounds that most commercial soaps have that cause soap scum build up. As for the soap itself, it lathers and rinses nicely and does not dry out my skin. Wish it worked for my sensitive skin. May 9, 2016 I am going through some skin sensitivity issues, hope the soap will work better then. Right now, drying out and irritating parts of my skin more than it should. Smell nice but... April 1, 2016 I'm somewhat dissapointed with this soap, I didn't expect it to dry out my skin, but it does smell nice though I will not buy it again. | 5% Unscented has a scent September 20, 2017 This product has a rather strong smell even though it is "unscented". My housemate can't smell, so I handed it off to him. I will be trying a different brand for myself. This soap doesn't lather, which is OK with me. It's nice. February 19, 2017 Pretty much half the price of Bronner's for half the thickness, which is fine by me. Feel it is like diluted soap February 17, 2017 The soap is really watery. Feel it is like diluted soap water Not really castile soap August 18, 2016 I enjoyed using this soap, and it served its purpose, but it really isn't Castile soap. Castile soap is made from 100% olive oil, that's it. Very thin soap. June 10, 2016 It's unscented and it doesn't make it itch, so those are good things. The soap is thin, as in watery thin. That makes it difficult to use as shampoo or body wash. Just okay... July 19, 2015 Very thin... not as good as Dr. Bronner's as a cleanser, but that being said, it doesn't have any of the questionable ingredients that Bronner's has... so I guess depending on what's important to you, they are a tie... however, there are plenty of other natural brands out there that I will be trying instead. |
Two Star Reviews: | 3% Dissolves very quickly December 18, 2016 It's a decent soap, a full step above Irish Spring, but it dissolves very quickly! Each bar lasted me three days at most. There must be quite a bit of water in this soap. I recommend looking elsewhere. I think there are better options for natural and inexpensive soaps out there May 14, 2016 Feels a bit cheap and low quality...similar to hotel soap. I think there are better options for natural and inexpensive soaps out there. Okay. March 1, 2016 I was expecting this soap to be more moisturizing with the coconut oil but it left my skin feeling kind of slick, not soft. By the end of the week my face was like it had been burned November 28, 2015 I used this product for a week. By the end of the week my face was like it had been burned. My husband had the same experience. My face and sensitive skin areas were on fire after use. ... left my skin feeling a little dry did not like the fragrance April 14, 2015 Not as expected left my skin feeling a little dry did not like the fragrance. | 3% Not a real good product I don't think October 17, 2016 Not a real good product I don't think.it may be good for degreasing, but not good form household chores or laundry. Leaves a residue Look elsewhere February 14, 2016 Best test of dish soap for me is when I need to clean my glasses. This one leaves residue. Didn't pass. strong odor December 20, 2015 For an unsented product, this has a very strong smell, my hands are a few feet away from my nose and I can still smell this product, I do not know if I got a bad batch, but this so called unsented product is to smelly to use. No thank you July 13, 2015 I wanted to start a natural body care routine. Tried using this as a shampoo and a body wash. Dried out my legs super bad to the point my skin felt like a lizard. My hair felt greasy yet dry :/ fail |
One Star Reviews: | 4% I find it to be upsetting that in the product ... May 31, 2017 I find it to be upsetting that in the product information section it lists ingredients, however, they are not the ingredients listed on the soap package I received. I was expecting that I was buying something with totally different ingredients, change your description please, it's misleading. Not for all skins! February 8, 2017 I used it to make foam to shave. As I was shaving, it felt like I was skinning my face. It felt like a chemical peel and my face was red for the rest of the day. Not coconut oil (sodium cocoate) August 18, 2015 I've been buying organic soaps for the past 10 years. I never use soap that tries my skin. I saw, "coconut oil quote and thought oh I would like to try this soap. And it dried my skin And it feels crumby. I bought this "natural "soap with the intention that it is made with coconut oil, but sodium cocoate is not coconut oil. If you eat sodium cocoate you will die and if you eat coconut oil you will thrive. This soap has 0% coconut oil, and is made up mostly of sodium CO CO this soap has 0% coconut oil, and is made up mostly of sodium cocoate- that's not natural. That is the difference. This is Misbranded. Overpriced soap, misleading description April 5, 2014 This is 18.88 for three bars of soap, not three packages of three. My local store sells each bar for just under $3, so I decided to buy and "save". Buy from a different listing or buy at your local store. It is great soap - it cleans without overdrying and it is fragrance-free - but not worth $6 per bar. | 4% Do not buy September 18, 2017 Will make you break out. Castille soap is known to do this and is comedogenic. The product is water down, it's very watery. ... January 3, 2017 The product is water down, it's very watery. The product has an odd smell and it is not mild because it have a burning effect on my skin. It's awful. Not what the title describes December 9, 2016 If you're looking for plain unscented castille like the title says, and this isn't for you. Read down to the bottom of the description to see that they have added other ingredients. I use castille in some of the products that I make and will now have to throw this away to get real plain unscented castille soap. What a waste I was really disappointed. Feel like the jug is full of mostly ... May 15, 2015 After using Dr Woods and then trying this, I was really disappointed. Feel like the jug is full of mostly water. Very runny and very few suds. Think I wasted my money on this one. |
