This little iron works well while traveling. It gets the wrinkles out without too many passes as long as its hot with a little steam. I would order it again.
very handy and steam too!!
February 5, 2014
I recently attended a quilt retreat where someone was using this handy little iron. They let me use it too, and what a great iron! It even has steam! It worked great and I went right home and ordered one for myself! I love it. No problems here. I keep this right next to me when I'm paper piecing, so as not to be constantly getting up and down to press each seam. This, along with my handy little pressing board, has simplified the entire process. I couldn't be happier with this super product!
Wow!
October 7, 2013
For a small travel iron this one packs a huge punch. I took it to Europe and used it daily. There is room for an adequate amount of water in the reservoir if you prefer to use the steam or spray setting . It isn't leaky either if it tips over, I found out. There are several sets of heat to choose from by a twist of the dial. The handle folds down for easy storage in its own compact storage bag. I liked it so much I sent it with my sister to use with her European trip. This convenient iron has a generous cord length too. I highly recommend this Rowenta compact iron.
So light and effective
June 15, 2013
I love this little iron. It travels well but most important for me is that it's just perfect for my quilting projects. The steam is fabulous and as much as we press our fabrics when quilting the light weight ability of this iron does not create more arthritic pain. Packs away so nicely when I go to quilting retreats and small enough to keep right at my work station instead of having to wait for an available iron at these retreats. You won't be sorry if you purchase this. And how can you go wrong when it's a Rowenta.
This little Rowenta put my full size Black and Decker iron to shame!
June 2, 2013
I absolutely love this iron! Had it a month now and use it daily for my quilting. I bought it for it's compact size to press seams as I piece quilt tops. I found myself using it for everything else as well. It generates lots of steam and gets nice and hot! Heats up quickly and really knocks out those wrinkles quick with all those little steam holes! I keep a bottle of water with it to quickly fill the water reservoir I leave mine plugged in, and just turn the dial past the lowest setting. It doesn't say "off", but it's off. It's the perfect size and is so light weight. I highly recommend this product!
Fantastic Little Iron
August 28, 2012
I purchased this iron back in July of 2009 right before I moved to Brazil. The main reason for purchasing this iron was due to my travels with my new position in the company. I have traveled to Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, and almost all of South America with this iron in my suitcase. Even when I arrived back to Brazil this little iron was my main iron for my daily ironing of my shirt and pants. The Black and Decker iron was my backup. I say was my backup iron because my little iron has finally given up on me after 3 years of hard service, but not for long as I am back in the US for Thanksgiving and already have the Rowenta iron on my wish list. Yes, it may not have all the features of a regular iron but remember it was made for traveling. I can honestly say that this iron gets the job done when needed. The steam is potent enough for the tough wrinkles. Make sure to check for the correct voltage in the country where you are traveling. By default you can set it at 220 Volts and then turn the iron on. If it does not heat up very much and fast enough as usual this will tell you that the voltage in that location is 110 Volts. Switch the voltage over and you are good to go.

Finally, a great travel-sized iron!
October 8, 2016
I tested out many travel sized irons. Most would not get hot enough, had handles that burned your fingers, would spit and spew water all over, had "sticky" soleplates, did not have enough adjustable settings, and more. This iron did not have any of those issues. It works great, heats up quickly, it's compact and lightweight, and it glides very well. The only issue is the tiny size of the water compartment that needs to be refilled frequently. This is to be expected due to the travel size, though.
I really like this iron and have loved all of my Rowenta ...

I really like this iron and have loved all of my Rowenta irons. However, you fill the handle for steam on this iron and it leaks horribly. I have looked for a fill to mark and there isn't any. I have read the outside of the box and the instruction pamphlet....still nothing telling how far to fill. I only fill it about an inch so it doesn't leak....very frustrating. My friend in our quilt guild has the same problem with hers. Any solution?
Nice iron
September 7, 2015
Very nice and gets hot enough and has lots of steam. The only negative is it does leak water a little and not much water capacity. I would buy again
Love My Rowenta

Will be using this Rowenta to replace one that was destroyed in our house fire. We used my old one constantly. Hope this one holds up just as well!
Great iron for quilting
July 6, 2014
This is an excellent iron, I use it mostly for quilting. It's small, easily portable, gets very hot, has excellent steam and has a nice point for quilting. The one downfall, as with most Rowentas, after you have it awhile, it leaks water. This is the 3rd of this style and I have had many other rowentas, almost all of them eventually leak. But, I've tried a lot of other irons, and I generally like them the best. I got this one, though, because my previous iron-exact same model, the handle broke when I was ironing something heavy and was putting a lot of pressure on it. The handle collapsed and after that, it wouldn't stay open and kept pinching my hand between the handle and iron.
awesome for travel
November 12, 2011
This is pretty quick to heat up fully, and is lightweight enough to toss in your carry-on. So handy! So convenient! However, I am getting a heavier, bigger iron to use more regularly at home -- this little one is not heavy enough or big enough to use if you're going to do a lot of ironing. Unless you get sore muscles easily, in which case, get this one!

It is very lightweight
July 9, 2016
It heats up as expected and the steam works well. However it is very lightweight so requires pushing down on iron to set seams when quilting
I like the feel of it and the pointy front
May 4, 2016
I have a love/hate relationship with this iron. This is my third one. The first - the handle broke. The second - the heating element burned out. However, I like the feel of it and the pointy front. Never use steam so the negatives about steam don't apply to me. (Use quilting spray starch.) I guess for $35 on sale, I can buy a new one every 18 months.

January 31, 2015
Just because it says "Rowenta" dont expect a quality product. It is no different than any little compact travel iron I have seen. It does the job on dry, I am kinda afraid to try it with steam.
Eh...
August 27, 2013
My mother in law has a Rowenta Iron that I absolutely love. This compact one that I bought doesn't really match up to it but it's okay. One thing I have noticed with this brand is that you have to really watch the temperature when using a regular sized iron but the compact doesn't run very hot at all. You also have to be careful when you steam the clothes. On occasion the iron leaks and stains clothes. I would suggest not using the steamer and if you are, don't steam light clothing.
Works well, but cheap housing.
September 6, 2011
Since I'm a Junior Marine and I knew I would be traveling a lot and would need to have my uniforms inspection ready at a given notice, I decided to purchase this travel size iron. It has worked well in the last 10 times I used it for shirts, covers, trousers, etc, but just tonight I broke it while applying too much force upon the shirt. The handle is flopping around now and it only works with it clicked down, which means I need to hold the edges with my fingers and it can get pretty hot. I'm pretty much gonna throw it out and use my friends' irons. Turns out pretty much everyone has an iron and they can be checked out at barracks front desk. My recommendation to you is if you want something portable, get this, but remember it's kinda fragile. Had I not applied too much pressure the handle would still be working, and I would still be happy about it.Just thinking about it makes sense. Since the handle pops up and locks that locking mechanism is plastic and can be broken. I guess just use more heat and less pressure. I learned my mistake.Definitely would be nice if they made the "fragile" parts in metal for better durability, thus 3 stars.
Power in a Small Package -- not the most durable
February 8, 2011
This is the best iron I've ever owned--travel OR full-size. It steams like a pro and the ironing surface is silky smooth.I am not giving it 5/5 because I wish it came with one of those small cups you use to fill the handle with that full-size irons come with, and because sometimes it ejects steam down onto the ironing board while sitting idle for an extended period (it doesn't leak), which isn't a huge deal but it is a little odd.I recommend this iron.**EDIT after owning for a few months**The auto-steam feature has stopped working. Since the first day I owned it, I left the slider switch to 'auto-steam'. One day a few weeks ago, I needed to iron something dry, so I slid the switch to 'no steam'. Later, when I wanted auto-steam back (and I slid the switch back) it did not auto-steam again. So now when I want steam, I have to press the button. Inconvenient.**EDIT 2**Even when pressing the button, the steam barely comes out anymore. There are two plastic hoses inside the handle that connect to the button on the handle and something deeper inside the iron. On of the hoses looks like it got pulled out of whatever it was connected to deeper inside the iron, so I assume that's the culprit. This was through normal use--folding the handle into the iron & pulling it out for use and occasionally using the steam button.

The steam does not work like it should
April 19, 2015
My wife is a quilter and I have bought her 3 or 4 of this particular iron . The quality is lacking. The steam does not work like it should . I had to super glue one irons handle cause it would not stay up . These have been problematic for years , wish or hope some company would come up with a reliable product. Quilters everywhere will beat down the door to get a better smaller travel type iron ! Even if it costs a little more.
Short Lived convenience.
January 7, 2015
I prefer this light-weight to the larger, heavier models that I have seen over the years. This product works very well and is easy to you. As most modern clothing does not require much ironing, this is prefect for me. The price is commensurate with quality. There is nothing I don't like about it. On the plus side, it's water compartment is easy to fill and monitor in the durable clear plastic handle. I like that the handle folds down for storage in it's convenient draw-string bag. Unfortunately, after several months of intermittent use, it spontaneously overheated and burned out......useless. :-(
Dissapointed!
July 15, 2014
I had previously owned a Rowenta travel Iron that lasted me almost 8 years, I was so happy with it, but eventually it was not working properly anymore. so decided to purchase the Rowenta DA1560, thinking it would be as good as my previous one. What a dissapoinment, ergonomically it didn't feel as nice, the steam wasn't as powerful and worse, it stopped working after just 3 months of use!!!... now it needs repair, what a hassle really, I am not happy at all!!..Rowenta has to watch their quality control and overall design. I hope they come out with a better travel version soon.
Began to overheat
June 5, 2014
I have had this iron for less than a year and it is already overheating, making sparking noises, and smoke comes from it. My refund/replace window of opportunity is gone. I am not sure if it can be repaired but if not I would have to dispose of it.
This little Rowenta was too good to be true.
November 20, 2013
Not for me.....After 6 weeks this iron will not steam. The second time I used it was this morning, and the steam function does not work, therefore I gave it two stars.I requested a return from Amazon, but I was past the 30 day return policy. So much for that. I can still use it as a dry iron, so all is not lost.
Steamer No Longer Works.
August 26, 2013
I purchased this product in the middle of July. Its now August (about a month after the purchase) and the steamer function doesn't work at all. I am going to look into sending it to get fixed because the max temperature doesn't take out all the wrinkles needed when ironing work clothes or pants.GET A STEAMER INSTEAD OF AN IRON. I was told a steamer will create those creases in work pants and remove wrinkles better and much easier than a traditional iron. That is going to be my next purchase, if I don't feel like getting this item fixed.

No vertical steam
February 13, 2016
I bought this one specifically because of the vertical steam feature. The iron heated up well, I filled it, but the steam sputtered and shut off completely when I held it vertically while pushing the burst of steam button. I fiddled for quite a while, assuming I was doing something wrong, but even after triple checking the instructions - no vertical steam. Even the steam produced at the normal position did not come out evenly, so I asked to return it. Have to say the vendor was very helpful and gave me a refund right away.
Fire hazard, unsafe, short lifespan, waste of money, DO NOT BUY!
July 1, 2014
DO NOT PURCHASE!!! I purchased this iron less than 4 months ago to use for ironing small pieces of fabric for sewing projects. Until a week ago it worked perfectly - heated up quickly, stayed hot as long as it was plugged in, steamed like a pro - then last weekend, I plugged it in and while waiting for it to heat up, heard a strange crackling sound, then saw smoke start pouring out of it. I ran it outside before the smoke alarm could go off and wake up my husband (or nasty electrical smoke fill the house). Granted, it did not have much water in it, but it should be able to heat up and iron without water. I did not think that this actually damaged the iron and only just tried to use it today to discover that it is not heating up. I just saw at least 4 other reviews with the exact same story, which I had not seen before, since the majority of the reviews were 4 or 5 stars. I reiterate, DO NOT PURCHASE!! I am out of the return period, so now I have to waste time researching a freaking iron, which is pretty ridiculous.
I can confirm... !!!FIRE HAZARD!!! On 2 occasions with 2 different DA1560s. Needs to be RECALLED!!!
June 10, 2014
201.06.10Oh wow.The good first. I LOVE(D) this travel iron. As I travel a lot for job, I've always tried to travel with a travel iron (carry-on). It met all my requirements. Small, compact, light, powerful. I would have been a Rowenta DA1560 customer for life if it hadn't almost attempted to take mine.I purchased the Rowenta DA1560 originally in (January 29, 2011), it worked like a charm and then sometime in mid 2013 while on travel in Southern California it started SPARKING and a horrible electronic smell with smoke started coming out. Luckly I could slide open the deck door, else the fire alarm would have gone off. You DON'T want to be THAT guy. I was SCARED. Imagine that thing starting a fire in a hotel and it coming back to me. I trashed it. Thinking it had been 2.5 years of solid service and maybe I had done something to it (but had never dropped it, etc).A couples months later, was preparing to travel now to Washington and decided to repurchase the Rowenta DA1560 (September 26, 2013). It worked flawlessly for entire month I was out there. A couple months later, had to travel to Northern California the 2nd time I used it, BAM, it started SPARKING and again the horrible electronic smell with smoke started coming out. This time I was not so lucky as there was no way to open a window. I ran to the bathroom placed it into the glass shower area. You DON'T want to be THAT guy that sets off the fire alarm. I was shocked, angry, scared because this little thing could have caused a fire and who knows what could have happened.I am not sure which way to go. I kept the 2nd one, in case someone starts investigating the product to recall it. So be careful. Interestingly, I've seen a couple other reviews having a similar experience. Also noted that these DA1560 might no longer be made in Germany but in China which I can confirm that's where the one in my closet is made (Made in China).
Disapointed...
May 22, 2014
First off....I have bought 3 of these irons.... Yes 3! One the handle was broken, the second one would not steam...and the final one worked....then sizzled and set off a smoke detector in a hotel. I am a flight attendant. I'm tired of the cheapie irons hotels provide, they are dirty, the sole plates covered in gunk and leak. Going off my experience with my DW8080 iron i made the plunge...Very disappointed...i need a new portable iron for my uniforms...Any advice?
not worth it
January 7, 2014
I bought one of these irons years ago and used it intermittently for years. Had problems with the steam not always working and then my cat knocked it on the ground and the fold-out handle would no longer lock in place. I bought a new one. After only one month, it began to crackle and pop and emit black smoke. scary. I think this iron is dangerous and do NOT recommend.
Great little iron until it quit after only 3 weeks of use.
September 1, 2013
I purchased this iron through Amazon on 8/6/13, received it on 8/9/13. On 9/1/13, while I was using it, smoke started spewing from between the sole plate and the body. I immediately turned it off, let it cool down, then turned it on again. Nothing. Up until this happened, I loved that little iron. It heats up super fast and was perfect for use on a quilting project. Fortunately, I've used it every day since I got it and if I hadn't, it probably would have gone bonkers after the return date lapsed. What ever happened to Rowenta quality?
